Aye Carramba! There is no effort. D'oh!   survyguy79
As fun as it is to watch The Simpsons, the game doesn't really live the expectations wanted for a simpson's game. The story in Bart's Nightmare is that Bart is doing a report at the last minute(Like you'd expect him to do)but falls asleep. He then has a nightmare that all the report papers he wrote were blown through the window. Now it is up to you to find the papers. What a dull and unexciting story. At least Bart Vs. The World had a hunt around the world. Finding papers is very time consuming. You first have to jump onto one of the papers, which is really difficult. Then you enter one of two different doors. Finally, you have to beat two levels of a mini-game to earn it. And big shocker, no save system of any kind.. If you lose all of your lives, the game ends with you getting a grade on the report. You can get an A+ to an F, which affects the ending sequence. Know that there is eight mini-games, each with two levels. That is sixteen levels. Once you beat them the game ends. Did I mention that there is no save feature or password system. You have to beat the game all in one go. This game isn't the best game and is pretty hard, but this is Acclaim, who brought you two s***ty NES titles, so this game is pretty good for the company. Graphics are marvelous, but the game is a little challenging for first time players and some levels have no music at all. It is a major draw back having some levels be dead silent except for the sound effects. At lest it has a nice intro with a cool tune. It could qualify as a tree house of horror episode theme. I give it a 7.6 for a mediocre attempt at a simpson's game. I officially approve of The Simpson's, Bart's Nightmare By Acclaim.

Bart's Nightmare (SNES) Review.   Eddy88
Nightmare on Evergreen street.
Yes... Once again... I'm reviewing a Simpsons game. Also, Guess what? It has Bart Simpson as the Main Character! (Surprised? Not, I bet) Well, the main character doesn't matter much, what does it matter, is the quality of the game... Which is not very high. But, It's acceptable. A good thing: It's quite Different from the rest of the Simpson games that have been made for other systems (However, the thing that doesn't change is the Difficulty, of course) the today's game is... Bart's Nightmare, for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive and the SNES. Wanna see how this game was? Then, Sit there and read!
Story: It appears to be that Bart it's decided to get (at least one time) a good grade... So, he tries to do his homework as best he can. However, it appears to be that is a LOT of homework... The day advances, but Bart still is working on it, with no breaks. Soon, the night falls... It's bed time, and the rest of the Simpson family is already on bed... Excepting Bart. After various hours, he finally is beaten by the sleep. Then, he starts dreaming: He dreams that his homework flies away through the Window... And that he goes after it. Here's where the game start, we must help him to retrieve all the lost papers, so, he can finish with his homework. (How's that possible, Eddy? Don't ask to me, just keep reading!) (7/10)
Graphics: Pretty good, as you remember, in the NES games, Bart used to look kinda weird... Well, that's over. On this game, he looks similar to what we see on the show, along with the other characters that appear on it. They are very detailed, and easy to recognize... Animations are good too... Nothing bad about them. (8/10)

Sound: It's good... Every segment of the game has it's own music (excepting by the credits, that uses the music of the title screen) Nothing
annoying about it. SFX is simple, but it fits with the situations of the game. (8/10)
Addictiveness: Let's talk with sincerity... This game it's not addictive, even having a good amount of variety on it... All because of what? Of
course... Because of the difficulty. (5/10)
Depth: Here's how you play: Before anything, you start on the "Windy World" (named like that because of the trees and bushes around the street shaking his leafs) Here, you're attacked by various enemies, luckily. You have some weapons: Watermelon seeds, Bubblegum (It's useful against the old ladies), and the Soda can (destroys all the enemies on screen). Under all that, there's a "Z" meter... Which descends when you get damage... If you run out of Z's, the game is Over. After some time, one of the pages of the homework appears on screen, Bart must jump over it, if he does that... He has to choice between two Doors of different color. Both leads to a different mini game... These mini games are: Bartman, Itchy and Scratchy, Indiana Bart, Bartzilla and Germ Killer. If you win the Mini game, you'll get the page (some games have 2 stages, so, you have to get to papers on those) as more pages we get, Better will be the grade... If you lose or win the game. It will give you a grade depending of how many pages you got... (or how much it take you to end it.) (8/10)
Difficulty: Very high as usual... I don't know why. But acclaim used to make Simpsons games really harder. However, only with a lot of practice we can handle this title. (really, with a LOT of practice.) (9/10)
Final Rating: 6.8
A good game, it could have been better if they added more mini games, or if it wasn't very hard... However, if you can see through all this, you'll discover a not-so-good game. But that still deserves a chance... Just try it and you will see.

Eat my shorts!   RedHotToddy
Man the simpsons have been running on the network for along time! Since 1989 that is! And along the way they have been getting alot of video games at the time, and here is one of them, Today I bring you The simpsons Bart's nightmare for the super Nintendo, My memories are fond of this game, but Is it as good as I remember it?
Story-7/10
The game opens up with our hero Bart Simpson working on his homework alone in his room, but then he drastically falls asleep! Thus the pages of his homework assignment fly out the window! It is now up to our favorite hero Bart collect all of the pages to his homework before he gets an F!
Gameplay-7/10
In this adventure, you control Bart Simpson as he adventures to get back the lost pages of his homework, To do this, he will have to adventure through the neighborhood looking for the pages and then here is where it gets epic, Bart must jump into the page, and then he will have to complete some weird minigame in order to get the page back! The minigames range from you destroying the city Ala Godzilla, running around the Simpson's house with itchy and scratchy, etc. Once you complete the minigame, you will be rewarded a page of homework back! Seems simple right? Not really, most of the minigames are really hard and thus require alot of skill and strategy to master. But that is a good thing this game has challenge! There is also a scoring system in the game, each time you do stuff like kill enemies, you gain points, collecting a bunch of points by the end of the game will reward you with an A, B, C, D, or F grade, I could only get a B at the time...
Graphics-7/10
This game was made in 1992, and for what it is worth, It is pretty good! All the levels you will be exploring are big, cartoony, and bursting with color, which makes each level a blast to play through, each level is crazier then the last! Some have you running around a town Ala Godzilla, ridding this temple Ala Indiana Jones, etc. As for the character sprites, they are OK as well, Homer looks like himself, Marge looks herself, Bart looks like himself, etc. Acclaim made this game, and they didn't do bad! They did great!
Sound-7/10
Man, the day I heard that song at the title screen, I instantly fell in love with It! That song has been of my favorite songs of the whole game! As for the actual soundtrack, It is pretty average as well, you get nice simpsons like music, which is good considering this is the simpsons! And as for sound effects, they are OK as well, you get mainly a bunch of Hanna barbera like sound effects which remind me of the times I used to watch those shows at my cousins, and that is good! But the music can get repetitive sometimes!
Addictiveness-6/10
Is this a game I am going to play again? Yeah it is! I have had alot of fun with this game the first day I played it, I mean the game has charm, humor, and everything you come to expect from the simpsons! Which is the greatest reason to play this game besides the fact that it is the simpsons.
Depth-6/10
In my honest opinion, the game is pretty short and doesn't really offer much to do after that, Oh wait, there are a bunch of different grades to get! And those grades are A, B, C, D, and last but not least, F. I remembered I could only get a B in this game, but with some training, I could finally get an A a long time ago! Good for me!
Difficulty-8/10
Aww...here it goes! The difficulty, this game has often been criticized by many simpsons fans as the hardest simpsons game ever created! And I really agree! This game is so hard I screamed in frustration at alot of times! But if you're an expert gamer, the game shouldn't give you that much trouble, and that is for the best!
Overall-7.3/10
If you want a good simpsons video game BESIDES the simpsons hit and run, Eh, I suggest go for this one! I mean sure the game can be really hard at times, but that is good! Because you don't want a game to be too easy! Then this would be a game for little kids! But after all that said and done, just play this game, You will not regret it! I mean sure the simpsons hit and run has been the greatest simpsons game of all time according to many simpsons fans, but this one is too! This has been RedHotToddy, and I am signing off!

The Simpsons - Bart's Nightmare Box Description

Yeah, man, I can hear you saying: "Bart Simpson lost eight pages of homework? Uh-huh. Suuure. What's his lame excuse this time?"

Hey, I swear, I fell asleep! Not cool, I know. What a nightmare I'm going through. Eight levels, each one scarier than the last, with villains like Homer Kong, Momthra, a blue demon, and Barney Grumble riding a pink elephant. I have to collect a page on each level, before I wake up and blow the whole assignment.

You're my only hope, man.
