Metro baby!!   chris4303
Overall 10-
Super Metroid is an action-adventure game developed by Nintendo R&D1 and published by Nintendo. It was initially released on the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) in 1994, but has since then been re-released on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. It is the third game in the Metroid franchise, and the plot picks up where the last game in the series, Metroid II: Return of Samus, left off.Like most games of the series, Super Metroid is an 2D action-adventure game with platforming elements. Players take the role of a female bounty hunter known as Samus Aran as she explores the deadly planet Zebes and collect an arsenal of weapons and gadgets, which will in turn let her progress into areas that were previously inaccessible.Super Metroid was one of the largest and most graphically-impressive games for the console at the time of its release. Even today, the game is considered by many to be one of the greatest games of all time.Super Metroid is also famous for the unintentional ability to "sequence break" the game. This means that although there is roughly a set path for Samus to follow, skilled players are capable of reaching ledges or getting past barriers before they have discovered the power up that is ordinarily required to get there. For example, by mastering a maneuver known as the 'mockball' players can get the super missiles very early in the game, when they enter Brinstar for the first time. This curious mechanic has many people struggling to see who can find the fastest path to take to complete the game, making Super Metroid one of the first games surrounded by the 'speedrun' phenomenon.
Graphics 9-
Super Metroid looks exactly how a 2D platformer should look like without a 3D engine. Visually it may not blow you away in this day and age, but carefully looking at the detail put into the setting, background, characters, etc, and you’ll see that they put a lot of effort into this game. The graphics in Super Metroid are about as pretty as games were at the time (aside from games accelerated by the “Super FX Chip”), but even with fancy HD-quality sprites or a 3D engine this is still a great looking game. Even compared to the more recent GBA Metroids, this game stands right up there, enduring the test of time.
Sound 10-
In terms of old school gaming music, Metroid is one of those titles that really defined the genre. The music was simple yet catchy, and it even led to an official soundtrack being released on Nintendo Power. Some of the more memorable tunes were the ‘escape music’ (from the intro clip above), the tune after you load a save file, the ‘ending theme’, and the ‘boss battle’ music (as heard in the clip below). Aside from the music, there are no voice-overs in the game, just scrolling text, like all games at the time, so you’ll have to do some reading. Samus has remained silent for the most part anyways, even in the recent Metroid Prime Trilogy, but Metroid: Other M might change that. Anyways, Super Metroid will show you what game developers were able to produce musically even with their limited technology.
Addictiveness 9-
Super Metroid‘s gameplay stands atop its genre ever since it was created. There is a few glitches, but aside from that Super Metroid defines 2D side-scrolling adventure/exploration (nicknamed “MetroidVania”, Metroid and Castlevania being the most well-known for its design). What really sets this game apart from your standard old school side-scroller is the exploration aspect of the game. There are a lot of places you can go and explore, and you’ll probably find something new, such as more suit upgrades, or a even a whole new section
Newcomers may occasionally get stuck from time to time, and this can get frustrating, so you may need to look up a walkthrough from time to time. Eventually you’ll pick up and breeze through some challenges. Some of the more veteran players can even “sequence break”, getting items earlier than they are supposed to. For example, by wall-jumping, I was able to beat Kraid before getting the Ice Beam, which saved me time on backtracking.Speaking of backtracking, that is another aspect of the game that some might find tedious. As you progress through the game you’ll encounter areas you cannot enter or items you cannot reach without certain upgrades, so from time to time you might want to explore backwards for a bit to see if you can buff up Samus, especially if a certain boss is giving you a hard time.
Story 8-
Chronologically, Super Metroid takes place seventh in the Metroid universe and immediately after the events of Metroid II: Return of Samus, and begins with a narrative by bounty hunter Samus Aran. Samus describes how a Metroid larva hatched from an egg and immediately imprinted upon her, believing her to be its mother. She brought the larva to Ceres Space Colony, where scientists learned that they could harness its power. Just after she left the colony, she received a distress call and returned to find the scientists dead and the larva stolen. The game begins as she follows the leader of the Space Pirates, Ridley, to the planet Zebes, where she searches for the stolen larva in a network of caves.Along the way, Samus defeats four of the Space Pirate bosses, including Ridley, and arrives in Tourian, the heart of the Space Pirate base. There, she encounters the Metroid larva, which has now grown to an enormous size. It attacks Samus and nearly drains all of her energy before it realizes who she is, and then departs. Samus recharges her energy and confronts Mother Brain, the biomechanical creature that controls the base's systems. Mother Brain nearly kills Samus, but is then attacked by the Metroid larva, which drains it of its energy and transfers it back to Samus. Mother Brain recovers and destroys the Metroid in retaliation, but is in turn destroyed by Samus with an extremely powerful weapon created from the energy given to her by the Metroid. Afterward, a planetwide self-destruct sequence begins, which Samus narrowly escapes.

*Amazing Metroid   TharGamer
Do I even need to give this game an introduction? Everyone who has played this game knows how great and classic this near-perfect game is, no question. The Metroid series was already enjoying critical success with the previous games, Metroid and Metroid II:Return of Samus. But I don't think even the most seasoned of Metroid veterans expected the Godly Game we all know today. The game packs in both quality and quantity, a feat which video games struggle to do even today.
What this game did right was just about everything. The very few flaws I can find in this game are either minor annoyances or common crop-ups of the SNES. The game received a huge amount of critical success, and it sold a million copies worldwide. It contains a wide range of items to discover, and moves to pull off. I, TharGamer, shall delve a little deeper into this game, and attempt to find out why this game was so highly acclaimed(if it wasn't obvious enough already).
Part 1:The Graphics.
The graphics in this game, while they may not be the most advanced on the System, are certainly appealing. The movement for Samus and all of the alien creatures is fluid, and the design for all of the creatures on Zebes are greatly detailed. Some even appear quite intimidating, such as the Kihunter. The environments and backgrounds in the game are also detailed extensively, and the whole planet really does feel like...well, a planet, with areas ranging from a bleak surface, to a volcanic cavern, to an underwater labyrinth. Different rays and energy beams are also nice to look at, with the wave beam travelling in a wave formation and the plasma beam travelling like a rod through the air.
However, there are a few areas in which the graphics seemed to be lacking a little. Some areas were a little bland, such as Old Brinstar. I understand that it is meant to replicate the Brinstar from Metroid, but it all seemed a little too bland for me. But this redeems itself in the fact that it sets the atmosphere for what lies ahead-the caverns of Crateria and Brinstar. I am giving the graphics a 10.
Part 2:The Sound.
The sounds in this game are often among the most highly acclaimed aspects among the gaming community-and with good reason. Every part of the soundtrack in this game is considered as a masterpiece by most gamers. The music in this game is far more than bleeps and bloops, it was beautifully orchestrated and perfected over time in order to perfectly match the area in which it was being used-the loneliness of Lower Brinstar, the imminent danger in Ridley's Lair, and the eeriness of sandy Maridia.
The sound effects are all crisp and pleasant to hear, whether you're diving in water or obliterating enemies with the Super Missile. They are all perfect, and the sounds that the various lifeforms of Zebes emit all match perfectly with the aliens. The alarm in Ceres Station and Tourian really does induce panic, making the player feel immersed in the game. I am giving the sounds a 10.
Part 3: The Addictiveness.
Super Metroid is one of those games which keeps on pulling you back into it. You could play through Super Metroid a ton of different ways, such as 100% completion, or speedrunning, or finding all of the secret passages linking areas. Every adventure leads to a different experience, and the game is always a delight to play, right up until the end. The game never really gets old to play. That really is all to say about Addictiveness, though. I give Addictiveness a 10.
Part 4: The Story
The story in this game is quick and yet, engaging. The events in the game proceed the events of Metroid and Metroid II:Return of Samus. In the original Metroid, Samus encountered and defeated the Space Pirates and their leader, Mother Brain, for the first time, in order to prevent them from using the Metroids as weapons. Samus realizes the power that these creatures are capable of, and as a consequence, she is sent to SR388-the home of the Metroid race- in order to destroy them.
Once there, she encounters many of the evolutionary forms of the Metroid Species, as well as their true potential first hand. After fighting through the caverns and exterminating the species, she encounters the Queen of the Metroids, and defeats it. As she is leaving the planet, she runs into the last Metroid-and witnesses its hatching. She decides to take it to Ceres Research Station for the scientists to research.
She soon leaves the station when she receives a distress call from the station. Shortly afterwards, Samus runs into an old enemy again-Ridley, the assumed second-in-command of the Space Pirates. After losing the battle to Ridley, he takes off to nearby planet Zebes-and the game begins.
The story is only given a brief description in the intro of the game, but once you play the first two games, you realize the plot is pretty deep. For this reason, I am giving the story a 10.
Part 5: The Depth.
There is a lot to discover in this game. 14 Energy Tanks, 230 Missiles, 50 Power Bombs, 50 Super Missiles, and 4 Reserve Tanks, most of which are cleverly hidden within the many secret caverns and crevices in the game. The world is so expansive that finding each of these collectibles will be a challenge, and I haven't even got onto the hidden areas within Zebes yet.
There are many hidden passages and rooms with secret entrances, most of which are uncharted on the game map by default. Finding and exploring these areas would be another challenging, yet fun task. For these reasons, I am giving the Depth a 10.
Part 6: The Difficulty.
The game starts out with collecting expansions in plain sight, shooting weak enemies in the caves, and navigating through simple shafts and simple corridors. But by the time you're near the end of the game, you'll be looking for deviously hidden power ups, performing some slick tricks in order to move along the caverns. Sure, there may be some over powered beams such as the Plasma beam, but it is received only after defeating Draygon in Maridia, one of the final areas in the game, so it is pretty well balanced. You really need to learn what tricks to do and where in order to navigate certain areas in the game, and I love this in video games. It puts most of the techniques you have learned to the test, while introducing new moves to preform.
The enemies are also balanced, if they are early on in the game, they'll be weak, but later on, they'll take more than a simple Missile or two to destroy. All in all, this game isn't really too difficult. It prefers to test your abilities you have learned thus far, rather than smacking you in the face with a brand new unpassable obstacle. But for beginners, it may be a little tough. I'm giving it a 6.
Last Part
Super Metroid always was-and always will be-a great classic for the SNES which will go down in gaming history as one of the best ever made. Everything is perfect, and the game isn't neither Tedious nor too easy. Overall, I'm giving the game a 9.9.
Thank you for reading my first Review!

Super Metroid, the Crown Jewel of the Metroid Series   name543
When you hear about the Metroid series, what game do you normally think of first? Some might think of the  original Metroid for the NES. Others may think of it's remake, Metroid Zero Mission. Fans of FPS games might even remember playing Metroid Prime and it's sequels. Though for many, when hearing the name Metroid, thoughts instantly go to Super Metroid for the SNES. In my opinion, this truly was the peak of the Metroid series. Though many others of it's installments were good, I don't think any have matched this masterpiece.
Graphics: What better way to start this review than mentioning the way the game looks? If you need a short answer, than here it is. The game looks incredible. Even on the SNES, a system with many great looking games, this manages to stand out. Every character model looks how it should. Samus herself looks great, and has many different animations that show whenever you do an action. The enemies are also well animated, normal space pirates leaping around from wall to wall. Some space pirates even show off back flips and such. The bosses really show where the graphics shine, each one detailed and menacing. They all really show what kind of enemies Samus has to battle, and all look amazing during the fight.
SoundThe sound for this game goes just perfectly along with the graphics. If each part of the game looks great, it sounds amazing. Each ability Samus has makes it's own little noise. Which, while this at first seems to not matter, it really adds to the whole feeling of the game. The missiles sound amazing when they explode, showing the impact of each blast on the enemy that's on the receiving end. I found almost no problems with the sound in this game at all, especially where music is concerned. Every single piece of music I found, got me in the right mood for what was coming up. Whether it was a fast paced track for escaping an explosion, or a slow paced, more quiet piece of music for just exploring the planet. Even Ridley's roar helped set the tone for the battle. I considered this very impressive, as Ridley's roar in Metroid Fusion got annoying to me after a while of the fight.
Addictiveness: This game is one of the most, if not the most, addictive game in the series for me. While other Metroid games I might stop playing for a while, and not want to play, I will always be ready to play Super Metroid. This may be because of how well it handles all it's mechanics, plus lays out the world. There is a whole giant area for you to explore, with a large chance you'll miss many things on your first run. So of course, you'll play the game a few times, getting better each time. Eventually you might even find everything the game has to offer. Though you most likely won't even stop playing the game after that. This is a game I doubt I'll ever get tired of, with each play through able to keep me entertained with it's atmosphere and game play.
Story: One large surprise in Super Metroid was how well it managed to handle it's relatively simple and dialogue-less story. Which, I won't spoil for you. Though I admit everyone probably knows it by now, its still better for those who don't if I allow you to find it out for yourselves. Though the basics are that Samus has returned the Metroid from the end of Metroid 2 to a Galactic Federation ship. They run tests and find that the Metroids can be used for the good of humanity. So when she leaves, it happens that the Space Pirates are also interested in owning the last of the Metroids, and the baby Metroid is taken by them back to Zebes. So Samus must brave the planet once again in order to stop the Space Pirate's plan, plus rescue the baby Metroid. The story goes relatively well with a few twists and turns. Plus for a game with only minimal dialogue, it handles it better than most could ever hope to.
Depth: As brought up in my mention of the game's addictiveness, this game has a lot of content. It might have more extras than any other game in the series. With a series like this, that is not a statement to be taken lightly. There are power ups all over the place that only the observant will find. Some can be as easy as shooting a while. Others might be as strange as heading through secret passages and using items to their full capabilities just to find. This makes the game take a lot longer for most, since they tend to want to collect everything. There is also the game's multiple endings, with each one requiring a certain objective to be beaten, such as beating the game quick enough. This leads to more searching for some objects, as many boss battles are shortened if you have enough ammo to end the boss without having to grind for it.
Difficulty: This game can prove very difficult on a first run through it. This is mostly because of the maze-like nature of a lot of the areas. Exploration is a large part of Super Metroid, needing to search out where to go in most of the game's locations. Especially in places like Maridia, which is a large maze. Other places, such as Brinstar, prove easier to navigate. Though the difficulty is largely in navigation, some enemies also prove to make the game harder. As I have said many times in this review, this is especially true with the bosses. Many of them are a large difficulty spike in the game. Phantoon is one of the larger examples, being able to teleport and only vulnerable on occasion. Though I think the difficulty is very rewarding throughout.
Final thoughts:
So, this is Super Metroid, considered the best of the Metroid series by many. I can easily understand where this thought has come from. With the large amount of exploration, satisfying combat, and epic boss battles. Along with a great atmosphere and music, this game easily earns it's reputation as one of the best games on the SNES. Maybe even still one of the best games of all time.

perfection in a cartridge   THErealFRED
If you could not already tell by the title I think that this game is perfect this game does so many things right and very little if not anything wrong this is my review of Super Metroid for the SNES.
First off I will start with the Graphics the graphics in this game is epic it looked great back then and it still looks great today the world is so detailed there is so much stuff put into this world to really pulls up into the world and it makes you feel hopeless and isolated and lonely all the things that people love about metroid Samus herself looks Fantastic it would soon become what she looks like through out metroid Prime another fantastic part in the series but that's another review in it of its own but in the end I have not seen another game that has aged so well then Super Metroid. So I give the graphics in this game a 10 out of 10.
Next up is the Sound the sound in this game is really good the music is really great the sound that samus's arm cannon makes is great the sound of everything is great once again the sound really pulls you into the game from the sound of the item aquireation to the sound of a planet exploding (possible foreshadowing?) this is what makes retro games so fun to play the music and the sound effects. Oh and it also gets a 10 out of 10.
Next up to the chopping block is the Addictiveness the addictiveness of this game is great you start off as a Samus Aarans who only has a arm cannon and gradually find more and more upgrades and they are really fun to find and use plus the creator's of this game made sure that you could sequence break and get new upgrades early on they done this so that veteran players could have some more fun getting stuff early on and even first timers will have a lot of fun just exploring around. And for that the addictiveness gets a perfect 10 out of 10.
Now for the story I really have no idea what to rank it, it is perfect for metroid standard's but not really that good for a story but on the other hand the story is really good once again for metroid standard's but the story is that Samaus after the Return of Samus has given the Galactic Federation the baby metroid, But Ridley has other plans and steals the baby and takes it to plant Zebus and it is up to samus to stop him...... again..... for like the fourth time...... but after that there is really no story the game was made to just explore and have fun so I really have no idea what to score up but you know what give it a score of what ever you want. It gets a     out of 10.
And not its time to go into the Depths of the game, the game is really really really deep the game offers a lot to do and it can take you along time to beat the game the game can be beaten in under an hour if you know all the shortcuts but if you are a first timer you are look at bout 10 to 12 hours of game play if not more if you are look to a hundred percent complete the game but in terms of things the game will give you its early arthritis because the game is so fun you will be playing it for hours just trying to find every little thing in the whole game. And for that I give it the deepest 10 out of 10 ever XD.
And now the Difficulty the difficulty of the game can be high at time but only because of the fact that you might not know where to go but hey that's ok we were all like that at one time or another the game does have a map and it does give you the location of were to go next but it doesn't tell you how to get there or if you can get there yet or not, the controls of the game are as simple as ever there are no button combinations there are no odd button mapping heck you can change the buttons to what ever you want them to be so no complaining about the controls oh and you have to use a d pad which is not as bad as Other M but yea. And so the Difficulty get a gigantic 7 out of 10.
And now it is time for the last part of this review and it is Overall, overall this is a epic game this game does so many things right this game has made it into the books of video game history and you know what it should be this game has changed how video games are made and in MY opinion no there game in the history of time has every had such a  big impact in all of my life at that is because this game is made in the right time in the right era and on the right system take that Sony and Microsoft but........ that's not what we are talking about and so now it is time to give the rating of this game all around at that is a magnificent over 900 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that's my review of Super Metroid a really Super Game on the one the only Super Nintendo so do me a big favor and pick up a copy of this game on vizzed or on the Wii shop or heck even get a SNES and some find a copy of this expensive game I don't care how you find it and play it just well find it and play it and also do me a favor and rate my review I wanna see if I should do more reviews or not so hit the like button................ wait I'm not on youtube......................bye?

Super Metroid Review   spirits10
When I was younger, My cousins had an
SNES. And to be honest, they had an assortment of great games.
However, there was one game they didn't have, one that happened to be
better than all of the games in their library. No, not Chrono
Trigger, Super Metroid. This game is considered by many to be one the
greatest games of all time, and after playing it for myself, I agree.
At the very least, It is the best game on the SNES (don't worry; A
Link to the Past is in a close second). Now let's start this
review!
Graphics
The SNES really had some great
graphics, even for as old as it is. I mean, some of those games look
better than games today. One such game is Super Metroid. Whilst it
was overshadowed graphically by Donkey Kong Country, that
doesn't mean it had bad graphics. In fact, the graphics in this game
were astounding! From the very instant you were thrown into this
game, you were investigating a dark, dimly lit, yet still quite
detailed space station. And that's only the beginning. From there,
you have to navigate a desolate, rain drenched surface, the rain in
the background looking great for that time. Then before you know it,
your thrown into a series of dark caves, overgrown underground
jungles, the ruins of a massive spaceship, a beautiful underwater
location, the insides of a volcano, and the mechanized nest of Mother
Brain. And every site is absolutely beautiful and unique, making this
game all the more fun to explore. 8/10
Sound
Oh....My.....Lord......
That's what people thought when they first heard this game's music.
From the beginning of the game, the music is perfect for whatever
situation you are in. The Ceres space colony music is mysterious and
eerie, the Crateria music is adventurous, and also a tad dark.
Brinstar's music fits the jungle theme perfectly, and the music for
lower Norfair is absolutely amazing. Maridia and Wrecked Ship also
have some good themes, but the Mother Brain fight has the best music.
The moment you get to that fight, and that music hits, you thinking,
"holy crap holy crap holy crap! This is bad!" Man that
music is awesome! 10/10
Addictiveness
This game is
so much fun it's amazing some people still haven't played it. Okay,
for those of you who have unfortunately not played this game, play
it, you will be addicted to it for weeks. I actually saved the game
right before the boss fight and fought Mother Brain three seperate
time because the boss fight was that much fun. And not just that
part. From the caves of Crateria where you fight the first Torizo
statue, to Brinstar's annoyingly long and yet greatly satisfying
bridge, to Maridia's beautiful underwater platforming. I especially
like when you go into the wrecked ship when it's power is out, and
especially the battle between Samus and Ridley. Each moment is so
wonderful you'll want to replay the game again and again.
10/10
Story
Admittedly, the story is kind of tough
to follow, so I'll give the basics:
The last Metroid is in
captivity.... it's power is being researched so as to benefit the
universe. However, as Samus leaves the Research Station she left the
Metroid at, it is attacked by Ridley, who is alive and has kidnapped
the baby metroid. Samus then tails him to Zebes, which survived Samus' last encounter, and there she journeys through Zebes, in her mission to defeat the Space Pirates again and the resurrected Mother Brain. Whilst the story isn't the best, I still found a lot of fun in the story, and the ending (which I won't disclose for anyone who doesn't already know it) is one the greatest and yet saddest moments in video game history. 8/10Depth
Can any game compete with the depth of this game? Seriously, even now, there are few games that are as big and open as this game. There is literally an entire planet to explore, and hundreds upon hundreds of secrets. And as for those secrets, unless you lived during the time this game came out or watched a walk through, you probably will not get all the secrets. And that's okay, because this game is HUGE! From the outer shell Crateria,to the Massive underground Jungle Brinstar, to the Volcanic Norfair, to the Wrecked Ship and Maridia, to Tourian, there is so much to do in this game, it is so awesome 10/10Difficulty                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Just like Super Mario 64, this game's difficulty lies in the ability to get all the secrets. This is the most difficult part, because some of the secrets are just ridiculous, like one is hidden in the same room as a missile pack, so getting all the secrets, even with a walk through, is brutally difficult, however, if your looking just to complete it, without all the secrets, it's not too hard, though there are some truly difficult, cheap, and tedious enemies (I'm looking at you, golden space pirates!!) However, this games isn't downright brutal, so gamers wouldn't have too much trouble in it if you know enough about the game 7/10This game is wonderful; A true masterpiece. Every Nintendo console has there perfect gem: The NES had the Super Mario Bros Trilogy, The N64 had Legend of Zelda OOC, and the SNES had this game. No matter how matter how you look at this game it will always receive the same score. 10/10

Super Metroid   The Planned Acc..
Overall: 10
Super Metroid. All I need to say. I'm sure many of you have played the game, and I'm sure many of you can agree. It's one of the best games of all time. If not that, then one of the best on the Super Nintendo. Its great gameplay mixed with its alien world, completed with the fitting music for each area that you're in makes the game perfectly balanced with its difficulty, and its lone-wolf story. That's right, newcomers to the game. Samus is completely alone in this game like most other Metroid games. Due to the game's great balancing of difficulty, I give Super Metroid a 10.
Graphics: 10
This game has very great graphics for the Super Nintendo. For one, a new feature they added, instead of the previous 2 games, you can now shoot in 8 directions! Plus the graphics of the speed booster ability? When I first played the game, or watched my brother play through it as a child, the game's graphics blew my mind. I thought this game was the coolest thing ever. And still today, I feel the same way towards it. Super Metroid has great graphics for the SNES, Graphics get a 10 for the great gameplay setup compared to the other 2 in the series, and the fact that it was rare to find a shooting game where you could shoot in more than 2 directions.
Sound: 10
This game's sound was very good. Let me start with the sounds themselves. Each time you killed an enemy, shot with the ice beam, or jumped, it'd make the perfect sound effect for each sound. Some of these sounds I found satisfying. Like this new ability they added, the Super Missile, when you shoot at an enemy, it makes a very satisfying sound when the enemy explodes. Go ahead and test that. The music of this game was very fitting for each area that you were in. Most of the music is very catchy, and you'll end up catching yourself humming them later after you've played the game. Not only that, the music was very fitting for the mood of the game itself, there's times when you know when a huge enemy was coming due to the music, or you know you can just shoot your way through everything, because the music portrays the mood of the game. I give Sound a 10 for such well placement of the sounds and music, and for the music being so catchy.
Addictiveness: 10
I can't tell you how many times I've played through this game. It's not even that the game is very long. I'm an extremely experienced player. I can beat this game with all the items in a little over 2 hours. But the thing is, the game is so fun to play through, you'll catch yourself playing through the game over and over again. It's that good. It's never boring, and there's always something to do on it, whether to just explore the unexplored or speed your way through as fast as you can, you'll want to keep doing it, again and again. Addictiveness gets a 10 for just being so addictive.
Story: 8
The story of this game is its weakest aspect. But don't get me wrong, it's still a great story. Your mission throughout the game is to retrieve a larva metroid from planet Zebes. The reason this metroid is so valuable is because it's the last known metroid alive. It was taken from the Ceres space colony by the infamous Ridley, Samus' nemesis. Samus followed Ridley to Zebes and thus starting her quest to find the missing metroid. As I stated earlier, Samus is lone-wolf in this game. Meaning there's no dialogue. The story isn't very fluent in the game, basically you just bash your way through all the enemies, exploring the huge world of planet Zebes. I wouldn't want to have it any other way. This Metroid game should be like this. It makes the game just that much more freaky. The fact that you have no contact to the outside world, and the fact that you're constantly surrounded by lethal aliens and space pirates makes the game just that much more deadly. The story gets an 8 for the way it's portrayed.
Depth: 5
Personally, I don't think this game is really that big. But to a new player, this game seems extremely huge. There's tons to explore, and tons of hidden items to find. I only wish there was more I could find, seeing as how I know where every single item is hidden. But if you're new, it'll take you a few times to get 95 to 100%. But even then, I don't think the game's length interferes at all with its addictiveness. But if you're a person who's looking for an extremely long game, perhaps you should try a different game. But either way, this game is still a great game. I give the depth of this game a 5 due to the length of the game when you're new compared to when you're experienced. It's a huge difference, trust me.
Difficulty: 7
When I first played this game, it was increasingly hard. I could not get passed some of the bosses, and the rooms, some equipped with not only tons of enemies, but 3/4 of the floor is lava. The bosses are just as hard. But the makers of the game knew what they were doing when they made the bosses. Some bosses may seem extremely difficult, but there's more to them than they portray. Pay attention to the environment of the room, and the resources around you. Some bosses are a lot easier than you think. But overall, the game's difficulty is pretty difficult. Some parts seem impossible, but others are easy. All I have to say about trying to beat this? Good luck. It's pretty hard. I give this game a 7 for being pretty difficult, but also for the careful planning of the boss fights.
Wrap things up...
I highly recommend anyone who hasn't played this game to play it as soon as possible. It's such a great game, it's perfectly balanced, and despite its difficuly and its depth, the addictiveness and the gameplay make up for it. The game is so fun, and it's just a great game to play through over and over again. I really hope you give this game a try. I really don't have any complaints of this game. The only thing I would do is add more items. But that's just me. Like I said before, it's one of the best games of all time, and most people who have played it in their childhood probably agree. A lot of games nowadays still don't even compare to this game. I hope you guys or girls enjoy playing through this. Have fun, everyone!

Super Metroid Review   iamman
First things first, i am NOT a big Metroid fan. In fact, i have never beaten another Metroid game besides Super Metroid, and i have only played about 3 Metroid games, including this one. But from what i can say about Super Metroid...Wow...I can't believe how awesome this game is. I actually didn't expect too much from this game, but what i got was beyond words, and i highly recommend this game to anyone who plays video games. Super Metroid's game play is basically maze-like and some of the puzzles are tedious and you can't beat them without certain items, upgrades, and all that good stuff. It is a pretty mind-boggling game, and it took me a while to get everything done, and even then, i still didn't have all the power-ups and i was missing a couple missiles here and there. And i can't tell you how many times i had to look up a walkthrough just to figure out how do preform certain moves. But other than that, i had i great time playing through the whole game, even if it took me more time to get the items then to actually beat the game.
GRAPHICS - 10
I can't believe how good this game looks, everything looks like as if we were actually exploring Zebes. All the enemies have nice animations, colors and shadowing, that would make them look real. All the bosses look incredible, and they slowly change colors the more you damage them. (No need for giant HP bars covering the screen!)
SOUND - 9
Super Metroid has an amazingly good soundtrack, and every song fits in perfectly with whatever is going on. There aren't too many sound effects cluttering your speakers, so now you can listen to the music without being interrupted by some enemy that won't stop firing off shots!
ADDICTIVENESS - 7
I don't get around to playing this game too often, mostly because whenever i think about Super Metroid i start having flashbacks of Maridia. (I spent so many hours trying to get out of Maridia, and i still can't stand to think about that place) And as i have stated before, some of the puzzles are just too annoying and even impossible without the right equipment. But i would still play this game any day. (Even if i had to put up with Maridia again)
STORY - 9
You play as Samus Aran: A intergalactic bounty hunter that (in the previous two Metroid games, Metroid and Metroid II - Return of Samus) was sent on a mission to stop the Space Pirates from exploiting the Metroids. (Metroid is a space parasite that can kill any living this in a couple of seconds, but Samus can survive longer because of the Power Suit that Samus is wearing) And (In Metroid II) Samus is sent to the Metroid's home of SR388, and basically runs around the place destroying all the Metroids. And then Samus finds a baby Metroid and it helps Samus get back to Samus' ship. And Samus hands over the baby Metroid to the Ceres research station so that the scientists can study the Metroids. And in Super Metroid, Samus gets a distress signal, and Samus flies back to Ceres to find it deserted, and Samus encounters Ridley. (a giant dragon-like thing) And so Ridley steals the baby Metroid and flies to Zebes. So Samus has to follow Ridley, and get the baby Metroid back. And i'm not going to spoil anything about the game so i'll stop talking.
DEPTH - 6
This game isn't all that big. While there is some stuff to do, like collecting items, most of the time you'll be spending is going back and forth to get items to unlock doors to get more items to get through that place over there just so you can run back to some other place to get something else and bring it back over to that other place to fight a boss and get something else! All just to restart the cycle about 4 times and then it's onto the last part of the game.
DIFFICULTY - 7
This game is not hard, in fact, it's pretty easy once you know what you're doing. It's difficulty really comes from how many items you can get so you can sustain more damage without dying as easily. But the REAL difficulty comes from speed-running through everything, the game actually wants you to speed-run like there's no tomorrow, the faster you are, the better ending you'll get. To get the best ending, you'll have to beat the game in under 2 hours! I can't imagine doing that. For me, it took me over 9 HOURS! And i didn't even get all the upgrades! For me, it doesn't really matter what ending i get because they all just say "THE END" at the end, and nothing too special. But it's always a pleasure to just doing it as fast as you can, just for fun.
OVERALL - 9.6
This game is incredible, i honestly think people should throw a party for this game every year or something like that. Graphics are amazing, sound is pure perfection, it's pretty addicting, the story is original and great, it's not all that big but i can easily accept that, and it's the perfect difficulty for anyone who wants a great game.

Super Metroid: Great game, or greatest game?   ARedLetterDay

The last Metroid

 is in captivity.

The galaxy is at peace. . .

So began my childhood. Or, well, the great majority of it anyways. The first game I ever played was Metroid for the NES, when I was 2. I beat it when I was 4. I know, hard to believe without proof, so you just have to take my word on this. I am a huge Metroid fan. When I first played it, I was blown away, as blown away as a 2 year could get anyways. Needless to say, it was frustrating. I had no idea where to go, it was hard, and the game was creepy. But I loved it. I still do.

But then Super Metroid came out. Super Metroid with its voice acting, which I never knew a game could do. Super Metroid with its awe inspiring music. Super Metroid with its crisp graphics. But most importantly. .

Super Metroid was Super. And it always will hold a dear, dear place in my heart. Now, for the review, and I will try to be as unbiased as popular, but some fanboyism might seep through. I apologize ahead of time.

First and foremost is the Game play:

I give the game play an 8 out of 10. And the reason it doesn't get a perfect score is because of one fatal flaw (in my opinion anyways), which I will get to in a bit. Overall, it's Metroid, enhanced and upgraded to feel more fluid and free. For those of you who aren't terribly familiar with the Metroid series, it's an 'open-world action adventure game' akin to The Legend of Zelda, if not nearly identical in terms of game play. Though, in my opinion, the Metroid series does a far better job at getting its point across which is - isolation.

No other game has made me feel as alone and as desperate as Super Metroid. Other than the scene at the beginning of the game where you hand over
the Infant Metroid from Metroid II to the Galactic Federation
, you have no contact with outside forces at all. In fact, in the opening sequence of the game, you come across researchers who perished at the hand of Ridley, leading commander of the Space Pirates. Right then and there, I felt that this was serious, that I would be all alone for the rest of the game. And I was. The only living beings you have to keep you company are the native life forms, which, excluding the Etecoons and the Dechoras, all have it out for you. Not to mention that you
explode the planet at the end of the game, eradicating all life on the planet.
.

But, despite all of this awesomeness, there is the giant flaw I mentioned earlier.

Play the game the first time, and it is mind-bendingly awesome. You have little to no clue as to where to go next, you don't know what's around the corner (or, in this case, in the next screen), you don't know what weapons work on what enemies and which don't, you just don't know. You are, pretty much, thrust into Samus' shoes. You share the same bond with her - she has no idea what awaits her.

But unlike Samus, you can play the game more than once. And therein lies one of the games very few flaws. It becomes far too easy once you beat the game once. You know where to go, what to do, how to kill this boss and how to survive this room, and the list goes on. So, ignoring first time plays, this game is rather easy, unlike the original, which is still really frustrating. Again, one of its very, very few flaws in my opinion.

Overall, the game play is excellent, superb even.

Second up, most importantly, is the Control:

I give the control a perfect 10 out of 10, as not only is it fluid and easy to grasp the concept of, the game play manages to actually give you hints and tips while you're playing in the form of subtlety. It's simple, the D-pad moves Samus left and right, allowing her to crouch, and fire in all 8-directions - completely different from the left / right and up directions she was able to fire in the first game. The shoulder buttons allow her to aim easier diagonally down / up / left / right, and also makes one of the game's many secret techniques easier to use (Shinespark, which I might describe shortly). The default setting, while confusing and I personally don't use it, is the default setting so I'll describe what that configuration is.

To fire, press X, which is at the top of the SNES controller. A bit awkward, but it works for some people. When you get the Charge Beam early in the game (and it IS recommended you get it), hold down the button to charge and release to fire. To jump, press the A button, which is the red button on the right of the SNES controller. Considering that, to dash, you have to hold B, your fingers have to do some odd twisting around to actually manage to do anything with the configuration. Pressing whatever jump button you've configured, Samus jumps. To spin jump, hold left or right while jumping, and to wall jump. . well that's a bit complicated. Jump against most wall surfaces with a spin jump, then press right if the wall is on the left side, or left if the wall is on the right side, and when Samus' frame changes to when she's pushing off the wall, immediately press the jump button. It's a tricky maneuver, but if you pull it off, you can get to a lot of different places. The remaining button, Y, allows you to cancel your item selection (done by pressing select) so you have a faster time selecting items.

When you get the Morph Ball at the beginning of the game, press down twice to morph. When you get the Bombs shortly after, morph, then press whatever button you've assigned to shoot, and you'll lay a bomb. Simple enough, right?

Overall, these are very fluid controls, and as responsive as any game can really get.

Next up is the Graphics:

The graphics get a perfect 10 out of 10. This is one of the shining aspects of the game. The graphics are colorful when they need to be (Red, Pink, Blue & Green Brinstar) and dreary, desolate when they need to be (every area other than Brinstar, pretty much.) Each enemy has nicely animated movements, and Samus is very, very well animated. The many frames of animation for her alone are something for any game designer, or simply anybody to marvel at. The areas themselves are very well designed, and the heated rooms in Norfair and Lower Norfair are simply awe-inspiring. There's a few rooms in particular that I enjoy a lot, and those are the rooms with these firefly type enemies that, when you kill them, the room gets darker. The background in those rooms have a pulsing light, and it's really awesome to see the graphics engine on the SNES pushed to its utmost extreme with Super Metroid.

The bosses are well designed as well, with some of the most imaginative designs I've ever seen in a game up to the release of SM. Kraid is probably my favorite in the game, since he's this huge, room filling creature that is certain to intimidate newcomers to the game. The scales on him stand out as they would on an actual reptilian creature of that size (as much as possible on a 2-D surface, anyways). My second favorite is the final boss, both the first form and second. For spoilers sake I won't mention the name but the second form is among the creepiest looking creatures in a game ever. It's not as big as Kraid, although it is still quite gargantuan. The mechanical parts mixed with the organic parts shine nicely against the background of the arena.

The underwater areas are something to be mentioned as well, as few as they are, they are extremely well done, with one area in particular taking place almost entirely underwater. There's the nice ambient sound of bubbles escaping from Samus' helmet (along with the nice graphic) and, although the water isn't given any sound on its own, there is the sound of Samus entering and exiting the water to appreciate.

Speaking of sound:

I give the music and sound effects in this game another perfect 10. The soundtrack in this game is something I still listen to this day, and is probably one of the most atmospheric soundtracks I've ever heard. Like the graphics, the music is relaxing when it needs to be, and creepy at the same time, and in some areas, it's threatening and suspenseful. There are plenty of music tracks, 39 in total, to keep the player entertained and creeped out while traveling through the giant maze that is Zebes.

The many sounds in this game are excellent as well, from the roars of Kraid and Ridley (not to mention the final boss), to the shot effects of your many beam upgrades.

Story. . where to begin with the story of this game? It's complicated, since many people will say it doesn't have a story, but the thing with that is that it certainly does. Only, it's not thrown in the player's face with massive amounts of text (not to say those types of games are bad, in fact I quite enjoy them), it's masterfully woven into the game play and the player's own sense of fear and loneliness.

I give the story an 8 out of 10, as, while I personally think the story is great, it can be confusing for newcomers to the series, even with the help of the background information given to them at the beginning of the game.

Here's what the story is at the time of Super Metroid:

Samus Aran is an intergalactic bounty hunter renowned for her constant defeat of the Space Pirates and eradication of the Metroid threat on SR388, their home world. By the time Super Metroid rolls around, she's lost her parents to Space Pirates, lost the Chozos who helped raise her, lost her commander during her time in the military, she has thwarted the Space Pirates a total of four times, defeated a clone of herself made entirely out of the otherworldly substance known as Phazon, defeated her closest friends who were infected with Phazon, and eradicated the threat of Metroids in the galaxy. At the end of Metroid II, she finds an unhatched Metroid egg, which she prepares to destroy, but it hatches and the infant Metroid takes to her like a mother. Hesitant to destroy the harmless infant, she takes it with her to drop it off at Ceres Station, a Galactic Research facility, so that they can study the Metroid's energy producing qualities for the benefit of mankind. As she's leaving the station to search for a new bounty, she receives a distress call from the station, and she rushes to find it empty and the scientists dead. Deep within the facility, she encounters an old nemesis, Ridley, the Space Pirate general who attacked and murdered her parents as a child. He has the infant Metroid in his grasp, and, desperate to end his life and protect the galaxy again, she fights with him. He doesn't go down, instead flying out of the station and triggering the self-destruct sequence. Samus escapes the station on her ship and tracks Ridley to the nearby planet of. . Zebes? She had fought the Pirates here once before, in her so-called Zero Mission, and it seems they made yet another base of operations. She had called this place home once, back when the Chozos were still around, so she is hell bent on taking care of the Pirate threat once and for all.

Without some of the fluff I added, most of that story is covered in the opening text, up until the point where Samus arrives at the station. The brilliance of the story is that it's revealed slowly but surely with visual cues, and relies more on the player to piece together what has happened so far rather than relying on in-your-face exposition. Overall, the story is extremely well done and is one of the best science fiction stories I've had the pleasure of experiencing, though despite all that it could be confusing for people who haven't played the previous games.

Now for the final section of this review, the amount of depth this game has is pretty staggering, and could be intimidating for new players. There's plenty to do, with the game itself taking a good while to beat if you're unsure as to what to do. Not only that, there's plenty of secret areas to find and a lot of items to collect, which is enough to keep any player busy for a good while.

A bit unconventional, but there nonetheless, are the game's challenges which were created by fans of the game. These are: Suitless Run, where you go through the game with the beginning suit, challenging as heck since you move slowly underwater, you take damage from the heated rooms which then requires you to do challenging heat runs and all manner of things. The Reverse Boss Order, which requires some fancy sequence breaking, is one of the tougher ones, making the player fight the bosses (excluding the final boss, IIRC) in reverse order. Since the later bosses are challenging on their own, doing so with limited energy and equipment makes it even harder.

There are plenty other challenges, and there's the unconventional technique of sequence breaking which allows players to go to places or do things they're not supposed to do with their current equipment, and all-in-all, it makes for the game being extremely replayable. I still play it often myself, and don't get me started on the hacks of the game, some of which are just as amazing as the original game!

Well, I hope you've enjoyed this review, found it informative, and hopefully it's gotten to make you want to play the game if you haven't already. And if you haven't, go do it! The massive maze of Zebes is waiting to draw you into it's clutches.

See you next mission!

Super Metroid: simply Super!   justinfeena1
Super Metroid is the 3rd Metroid game and the 1st on SNES. It starts with a great spoken intro and ends with a great scene.
Story:
Samus brings the little Metroid to the Ceres-Laboratory but then Ridley attacks the laboratory and kidnapps the little Metroid. Samus gets an emergency signal and is going to the planet Zebes to avoid the clonning of the Metroids.
Gameplay:
Super Metroid is an action-adventure that means you're walking through a big area, shoot down enemies and collect things. You're playing Samus Aran and walk around a planet.
The area is big but because of the map you always know where you are. You walk through the areas and always find new things because every new item (posted screenshots) opens another door for you. You shoot down enemies with the different beams you get and jump higher and run faster with the items you get.
Graphic/Areas:
Like mentioned their are different areas you're walking around in. Each area or each different complex of the world has it's own features you have to overcome. They don't seem to be very creative but when you're playing a while you recognize how complex they are and how much they have to offer. The graphic is very good and probably one of the best on SNES. The graphic and the areas together result in a unique, one of a kind atmosphere you don't find in any other game.
Sound:
The areas and the graphic don't create this great atmosphere alone, the sound puts a big part to it. The sound is fantastic. Here you don't have any funny or happy jingles. Here you have dark and threatening tunes matching to the dark locations.
Features:
In Super Metroid you have a lot of stuff to collect. There are energy tanks, reserve tanks, missiles, bombs, super bombs and much more. And you have the different items, of course. As you are getting further you get a lot of items and you need these items to finish the adventure. You get different suites, beams, morphing ball extras and other stuff. Besides these items you can find extentions for your ammunition. These extentions are helpful and necessarly for the adventure and the boss fights.
And as mentioned you have got a map you can always take a look on.
Difficulty:
Super Metroid has a great difficulty. It's not to easy and not to difficult. Some areas are easy to master, some are not. Some boss fights are easy and some are not. It's a great balance.
Conclusion:
Super Metroid is an absolut classic! It's a great action-adventure with a good gameplay, a one of a kind atmosphere, a big world to discover, many things to collect, a perfect difficulty, a good story and a great sound. Super Metroid is a game that is very unique and even for me, who hasn't played the game at the time it was released (I was one year old, I couldn't play it) it is a great game and a timeless classic. I have played many games of today, but these games, like Super Metroid, are the reason for many games of today and I also call Super Metroid even 17 years after its release, one of my favourite games ever!

A Serious Nintendo Game.   MitsuriZX
If you think this game is just another platformer like Super Mario Bros.,think again. This game is one epic experience. I should say, this game might just be better than Super Mario Bros.3. Being different is a good thing, and i believe that Super Metroid stands out from the other games because it is insanely different. It is just like a platformer, but it feels like a RPG. You,getting those life and missile expansions while exploring the dungeons and finding power-ups...doesn't this seems a little too much like Zelda?
But it is nothing like that,it is pure action-oriented. However,it is a game where Life is important, and unless you find a way to keep yourself safe, you will die time and time again.
You start off as bounty-hunter Samus, and you go to HQ. However, everyone is dead. You soon find out that they were killed by space pirates AND Ridley, your arch-nemesis. Ridley steals the Metroid,a life form that has many uses and has enough power to create massive weapons of destruction. Samus tries to confront Ridley, but Ridley manages to get away. Samus tracks down Ridley to the isolate planet of Zebes, this is the home planet of the Metroids.
It is a frantic race between you and the Space Pirates. You want to keep world peace by destroying the Metroid, and the Space Pirates want to rule the universe with an iron fist by stealing that same Metroid. However, the Story takes an unexpected twist, and Samus begins to develop a bond with the Metroid. However, someone is not happy with everything that is happening. There is a third-party that wants to see everything destroyed. That includes Samus, the Space Pirates, the Galactic Federation, and the universe. However, even after all that, you're going to play Super Metroid because of it's gameplay, not because of the story.
This game is full of hard bosses, and you will have to backtrack a lot in order to get all the expansions. You start off normal, but then you get a lot of power-ups which will allow you to execute daring manuevers, and they will also increase your defensive capabilities. You will be able to traverse through lava, you will get a grapple beam that you can use to traverse dangereous pits and over spikes, you will be able to turn into a morph ball, and finally, you will get the famous Power Bomb, which devastates everything in sight.
If you like exploration, this is the game for you. There is a map,so you can keep track of where you've been, and where are the most important places. It is a game about concentration, you have to be ready for everything in this game. Playing Super Metroid is just like dating someone;you can't arrive too late or too soon, and you have to promise to be there.
But,surely, this game will keep you coming back.Won't it?

Super metroid review   I812
Hello and welcome to my first review ever on this site. Today I'm going to review Super metroid for the Super Nintendo. Super metroid is the 3rd installment of the metroid series. You remember the original metroid right? Well the space pirate leader mother brain is back and ready to cause more trouble for poor old samus. So samus has to go back to planet zebes and go kill mother brain once and for all. But enough with the details. Let's begin.
Graphics: 10/10
The graphics are very good for the SNES. Some effects are pretty realistic. Like how samus's suit looks like it's reflecting light off it's surface. And the sprites are very detailed. Something not that many other SNES games have.
Sound: 10/10
The sound is awesome and the music fits very well with everything in the entire game. It even has a narrator at the beginning. (Something that was unheard of in video games back then.)
Addictiveness: 9/10
The game is very addicting and you'll probably find yourself addicted the first tine you even play it. I once played it for an entire day. Plus there is always something to do in the game.
Story: 7/10
The story is not that bad. But leaves some unanswered questions. Questions like "What brought mother brain back to life?" and "Was mother brain not fully destroyed?" I guess they want you to use your imagination.
Depth: 8/10
The length of the game is perfect. Not to long and not to short.
Difficulty: 5/10
The game is not that hard if you're careful. But if it's you're first time playing. Expect to get stuck fairly often. (As the game can get very puzzling and it'll give your brain quite the workout.) So don't be embarrased if you find yourself using a walkthrough every so often.
Conclusion
Super metroid is an epic game and if you haven't tried it yet. Go and try it now. You won't regret it. Well it's almost my bedtime so I guess I have to bring this review to an end. Thanks for reading and have a great day. (or night depending on where you live.)

Super Metroid   arwingstarfight..
In the early nineties the video game world was in an all out console war, between the rival upstart Sega, and the name everybody knows, Nintendo it saddens me to think that even as a Nintendo kid in the nineties, Sega currently does not use its other IP's because Sonic is their cash cow but I digress, in 1994, Nintendo had another ace up their sleeve to blindside Sega and it was the biggest game on the super Nintendo if not the biggest game ever at the time, Super Metroid. Its no secret that Metroid is a series that draws a lot of inspiration from the alien films which is why I decided to use the tagline as a parody for this review. Super Metroid is that one game that takes everything you know about the original and improves on it a hundred fold its got a map now which in 1994 compared to the original metroid a godsend but there's plenty more where that came from coming up so lets get into the nitty gritty and dive into the dark ambient and foreboding caverns under the planet Zebes
Level One: Hades: ohhh spoiler alert. The story Super Metroid is not one would expect from Nintendo if you were a kid in the nineties you would be forgiven for thinking it was all sunshine and happy little green dinosaurs and pink blobs that suck things up like a vacuum cleaner but Super Metroid is different, when you pop in the cartridge, your greeted with sinister chords of music combined with the screeching of some unknown creature after seeing the opening words we see a baby metroid in a holding tank and as the camera zooms out, you see the bodies of dead scientists and you realize this is not like any nintendo game you ever played its time to get dark. when you start your adventure we are greeted by something very rare for early nineties video games, an actual voice clip provided by Nintendo employee, Dan Owsen (the man who provided the voice of Fox McCloud in Starfox a year earlier) and we learn that the metroids are nearly all extinct with one remaining. Right after that voice clip we are treated to a prolouge being narrated by a mysterious woman in hi tech armor Samus Aran, previously Samus had lnded on Zebes once before in what is canonically considered her zero mission where she defeated the space pirate leaders Mother Brain, Kraid annd her nemesis Ridley (whose tail looks exactly like a xenomorphs, nice touch Nintendo.) and we are treated to some pretty cool flashbacks from the previous games that have been graphically improved. Samus then recaps on the time she went to the planet SR388, the metroids home planet and destroyed them all including they're queen (you sure this isn't Aliens?)however she left one alive and after hatching imprints on Samus thinking hes its mother. Samus then goes to a research colony to give the baby to the scientists and amazingly found that metroids life draining powers could actually be used for believe it or not the betterment of galactic civilization. After making sure everything was alright, Samus leaves the space colony but soon after gets a distress signal from the colony and immediately goes back to investigate and this is where the adventure begins.when you arrive there is no music, just the ambient sounds of machinesas you make your way through the station you begin to notice that something is off and dreadfully wrong, you enter the room with the scientists but the scientists have all been slaughtered and the baby metroid is missing, the holding tank shattered. Investigating further Samus finds the baby metroid is a small holding container before Samus can rescue the infant metroid, glowing eyes enter and with a terrifying screech, your childhood you is terrified and you get trounced by Ridley. As soon as Ridley escapes, the self destruction sequence begins and you are forced to make a beeline back to the ship. Tracking Ridley to planet Zebes, you find that the further into the caverns you go, you notice some familiar set pieces from the original metroid, like mother brains old chamber with the shattered glass that used to hold her, layered by fog the only life forms seem to be the insects you see on the way down, when you get the first upgrade, the morph ball some creepy light shines on samus with an ominous humming that unnerves you and after getting some more goodies, you find the space pirates have been alerted to your presence. The adventure truly begins at this point.
level Two. The graphics. compared to the graphics of its predecessors, this games graphics are not only beautiful and gorgeous but the backgrounds allow a player to easily navigate rooms they may or may not have been yet and with the map in the corner of the screen this makes navigating so much more easier and you won't get lost (unless your new and a rookie to this game)the graphics have some suberb animation to them too, and the devs that made this game know it, if ya look closely at one boss scene, after you defeat him he dies in a very family unfriendly death as he burns down to his bones (Nintendo, ya know? for kids!) samus has some neat graphical upgrades to her as well the way she moves compared to her original sprite actually looks more natural all in all the graphics are a real beauty.
Level Three, the sound. The ound and music in this game is ambient and mood setting it strays from its fellow nintendo IP's like super mario worlds music (the exception being the ghost house) it seems that the deeper into the planet you go it gets more dreary, depressing and even scary and specia mention goes to lower norfair I, LOVE this tune it just screams pure bad assery and by this point Samus is ready to hand Ridleys tail to him on a silver platter and the fight against mother brain? pure tension i was scared to lose my heart was racing and in the deep seas of Maridea it gives a sense of loneliness and isolation the soundtrack to this game in one word would be masterpiece.
Level Four. Addictive. Being a Metroidvania kind of video game, the addictive natre of Super Metroid blows up the addictive scale honestly you can play this game as many times you like, and still not find everything for me im more of a speed runner for this game i like being able to get the best ending (yeah thats right i like women in bikinis fight me. Haha no fighting I'm messing with ya)all in all if people just wanna ind all the items then you'll definitely be coming back for more to try and beat your personal best.
Level 5 Difficulty. I honestly have nothing much to say about this game being difficult on the one hand if your a new player it will take some getting used to but the more items you get the stronger samus is and if you know what your dong, this game becomes a fun little stroll through Zebes
Level Six the depth: If I talk about the depth, we could be here for a while so I'll do my best to list off the reasons of why the depth of this game is amazing for starters in certain places you'll come to areas you won't be able to access until you have the proper equipment forcing you to back track some of these however are optional but getting them goes towards your item collection percentage score when you beat the game I have beaten this game lots of times and I still haven't found everything this games depth is the selling point of just how super, super metroid is.
closing thoughts: So do i think Super metroid is a good game? Absolutely its a jewel of nineties gaming that arguably holds up to this day and sure some parts are a little dated but it doesn't detract anything from this game Super Metroid is a must have for any gamer if your a kid playing this game, sweet nightmares Arwingstarfighter, signing off, peace out.

Super Metroid Review   Pokegeek
Super Metroid. This, without a doubt, is one of the best SNES games ever, along with Super Mario All Stars. I'm that sort of person who doesn't like Star Wars or Star Trek, or any Sci-Fi related stuff. But this game pretty much changed my opinon of the genre. I mean, which Nintendo fan hasn't played Super Metroid? It's a game which will probably never be forgotten by those who play it. So, let's get started.
Firstly, Graphics-10. This game had-and still has-pretty amazing graphics for its time, which is 1994. The movements of Samus were well executed, and it looked like something you might see in a 2010 game or something. The common enemies like the Space Pirate and the side hopping things are nice to look at in my opinion, unlike the Goomba of Mario, or the Ugger of Banjo-Tooie. The bosses all have a nice design, especially Ridley-looking at him and hearing his screech for the first time together can scare pretty much any unfortunate kid who didn't know it was coming. And also, I have just got to mention the second form of the final boss-which I shall not mention...find out what what the mysterious form is by yourself.
Secondly, Sound, which I am (surprisingly) going to give a 10. The sounds made by all the different enemies are unique, and make it sound quite realistic. Also, I couldn't possibly forget to mention the soundtrack. The soundtrack, without a shadow of a doubt, is the best thing this game has to offer. It ranges from the funky feel of Brinstar to the intimidating theme of Norfair, and from the heroic melody of Crateria to the hopeless despair of Maridia. This games soundtrack can make you feel any emotion-happy, sad, heroic, despair, anger, and it can even give you a feeling of being lost at times. It really makes you feel that your adventure means something. And the boss themes are great; especially the one in Maridia who I shall not name.
Addictiveness next-another 10! I am just so engrossed in this game, and I am attempting to cellect every missile tank, super missile tank, power bomb, energy tank, reserve tank...and it takes a while. But more of that in the next part. It is incredibly easy to get addicted to this game. The urge to defeat the space pirates and save the larvae really makes me want to finish it once and for all. The fact that the game is quite huge and confusing also contributes to this factor-exploring everything in this game would be a real accomplishment for a gamer.
Story-I'm going to give it a 8. For me, the story doesn't develop much along the game, it just explains everything in the start and lets you figure out the rest...the game is practically a collecting game. The reason I scored it an 8 is because of the fact that the story builds up in the series, and, this being the penultimate one chronologically, has a great back story, but back in '94, you only got that one scene at the start.
Isn't it obvious what I'm going to score for Depth? 10. This is because of the sheer amount of collectibles there are to collect and the planet of Zebes is quite large. This game appears small on the outside, but trying different techniques in different areas will open up some secrets and new moves, and maybe some certain animal companions in the depths of Brinstar. The game will take up a lot of time to collect everything, and is no easy feat, unless you have your very own strategy planned out or you are an amazing professional.
And finally, the Difficulty. I didn't find this hard at all, I'm going to give it a 6. While most of the game is relatively easy, it does have a few severe difficulty spikes, like Maridia, the most confusing part for me personally. The game doesn't require you to mash buttons or use some sort of rare pickup to defeat a common enemy, just a laser that you can modify as you go along the game which also apparently has unlimited ammunition. I found the Wrecked Ship to be quite hard, but I don't know if I'm alone on that or not...
So that's that. Let's do a recount:  Graphics-10  Sounds-10  Addictiveness-10  Story-8  Depth-10  Difficulty-6
So, the overall score according to the mean should be...A great score of 9!

Super Metroid Review   metroidhunter72
Super Metroid is probably considered by many to be the greatest Metroid game of all time. Of course, that is just peoples opinions, but it isn't hard to tell why it is said often. Super Metroid was the game that defined much of the gameplay features that are still used today.
GRAPHICS: 9
Since Super Metroid was the first one on console since the first game on the NES, it was a HUGE change in graphics. The backgrounds of the worlds are perfect and make it feel like you are actually deep underground on an alien planet. The bosses look epic, and the enemies look awesome.
SOUND: 9
Not only did this game have awesome sound effects, but it had an amazing soundtrack. If this game was never made, we wouldn't have Ridley's signature theme song that has been used in EVERY single battle since. Every alien monster had their own sound effects, which were a sign that they were nearby if you could hear them but couldn't see them.
ADDICTIVENESS: 8
This game has many things for you to do, with it constantly changing so it doesn't get boring or tedious. This makes the game a lot more addicting then some of the other installments in the metroid series.
STORY: 7
Super Metroid had a pretty good story to it. It takes place directly after Metroid II, where Samus discoveres the metroid hatchling. She brings it to a laboratory to hand over to some scientists who want to use its energy for the good of mankind. She gets a distress signal not long after, and discoveres that the Ceres station was attacked by none other then Ridley. Samus's job is to get the Metroid larva back from his grasp.

DEPTH: 10
The world of Zebes is filled with hidden rooms and areas just waiting to be uncovered. You can find hidden spots in walls that can be destroyed, which give access to power-ups or recharge rooms. Each biome has its on types of aliens, usually varients of different monsters around the game. Most have a boss hidden in the depths, such as Ridley or Kraid. There is plenty to do all over this game.
DIFFICULTY: 7
This game can be pretty difficult if you have never played a 2D metroid game before. If it is your first time playing, you will get stuck often. I would probably not recommend this game to a casual gamer, unless they have played Metroid before.
OVERALL: 9.9
This game is just amazing. That is basically the best way to sum it up. Many people will agree if I say that it is one of the greatest video games of all time.

The graphics are great for SNES. Great colors to fit every atmosphere.
Great looking backgrounds. Helps the atmosphere a lot.
 Sound: 8
The sound/music are great but I feel compared to the music/sound abilities of
the SNES and some of the pieces on it Super Metroid is a little bit disappointing.
But on to the positives! After all I gave it an 8 which is good.
The music helps the atmosphere of the game a lot. If the games tropical,
tropical music and sounds. If the games eerie, music and sound. The
boss theme I feel are the best.
 Addictiveness: 10
   CAN'T. STOP. PLAYING!
Super Metroid  will keep you busy! If it isn't the awesome game play
Its the amount of things you can do! But that's for the next thing.
   Depth: 10
Seriously? Its the thing Metroid's famous for!
Here are some numbers: 230 Missiles, 50 Super Missiles,
and 50 Power Bombs. All collected in packs of 5 so if I crunch some numbers...
that's 46 missile packs,
50 Super Missiles and Power Bombs, and 14 Energy tanks add it all
together 80 UPGRADES TO COLLECT! And that not including items!
Here are just a few: Bombs, 2 Suits, Spazzer, Grapple beam, Wave Beam
, Ice Beam ( my favorite beam weapon), Plasma, and the best item... The
ScrewAttack!
Difficulty: 5
Super Metroid is a relatively easy game to pick up but the
Non-Linearity the series is famous for may turn back some new players
away so you have to be in to this type of game play to get into this.
Overall: 10
All in all, I LOVE this game! A combination of amazing game play,
sound, and graphics make this my favorite SNES classic. Yeah,
Even better than Legend of Zelda Even better than Mario. This is
greatness in the form of gaming.

Reviewing Super Metroid (Metroid 3)   StuffAllstar
Ever just want to spend a day where you explored? Or want to spend a day listening to video game music? What about beating bosses that are neat and were creatively thought of? Well play Super Metroid (a.k.a Metroid 3) a great SNES (super nintendo entertainment system) game!
With the story of what has happened from the previous 2 games if you hadn't played those games and it explains in the beginning of the game. While learning of the baby metroid you also learn of Mother Brain the boss you fought in the second and first game.  After learning the story you start playing right away after reading the final words "the ceres station was under attack!" You land at the space station and there's nothing just nothing.
You eventually find Ridley holding your precious baby metroid! You soon after follow Ridley to the planet Zebes where you go try to find the baby metroid. You find your first power-up and the planet comes to life! With aliens everywhere to kill and get more power-ups you start your adventure for the baby metroid.
Now back to the planet Zebes itself there are 6 parts of Zebes: Criteria, Brinstar, Norfair, Wrecked Ship, Maridia, and Tourian.  This planet is just plan mysterious, when searching for your next power-up or finding the next boss you will be almost confused! The planet is quite large and is a maze to find fast pathways to other places, once again, will leave you stumbled (at least if you've never played the game before.)
Now onto gameplay and other things, the controls for this game is confusing on a computer for the buttons are weird but on the SNES controller it is very simple. Now listen to that  music from lower Norfair, or listen to Brinstar, the music of this game is great and is still used in other metroid games. Being addicted to this game is like being addicted to gum, it will haunt you in your dreams until you play it again or else you will DIE! just kidding but this game is quite addicting!
Enjoyed the review? give a 5/5 and leave some comments down below and don't forget to check out this game and play it i dare you >:).

Kill Draygon in one hit

As soon as the boss fight with Draygon begins, note the four turrets firing electricity from the walls - two on either side. Before Draygon even shows up, blast away all four turrets with charge shots. See how the turrets spew out electricity after being killed? Equip the Grapple Beam and get ready to use this to your advantage.

Instead of fighting Draygon the normal way, allow him to grab you. While he's swinging you about the room, use the Grapple Beam to latch on to one of the panels on the wall that was once occupied by a turret. The electricity will go through the Grapple Beam, through your suit, and to Draygon himself. Samus will stay locked on until Draygon dies

Awesome game but tough for begginers. Most of time you will spend just lumbering around. As avgn said this game is a huge maze.
