How can a Mario game get any better?   Zircron Swift
Super Mario World offers much more then you expect. The game is a joy to play. It's not hard core tricky like Castlevania games, it just a game that is fun to play. Full stop. But I just can't base a review on that. Let me tell you why you should play this game, or play it again, or too continue playing, even if you're already playing the game and don't need to be told how great it can be.
Lets start with the graphics. Mario's detail is higher, allowing you to clearly see his eyes and that cap he has. In fact, most of the graphics are clearer and sharper than the nes ones. The marvels of 16-bit games. The detail in the background is also nice. The enemies are new and some will annoy you. Like those rugby player guys. There is also a Yoshi! ^^ Yoshi means "go" in Japan, I'm not sure why they would call a cute green dinosaur "go", maybe it's what Mario says when he hops on him. Maybe that's why he says "here-we-go-a". *crickets chrip in background* Get it? No...? Never mind.
Guess how the story goes. That's right. Princess Peach gets kidnapped yet again by browser. they have really bad security problems in the Mushroom Kingdom. Or did they think he'll never try the same trick five times in a row? Either way, they really need to sort out their Kingdom. Who's the king?
Enough rambling for now. You are Mario, off to save the Princess from Browsers grasp. You have to travel though the world to get too Browsers castle, defeat him, and get the girl. Simple, right? No, because another thing Browser has done, is he has also kidnapped Yoshi eggs (how could he?). You need to save them as you go through the world. You are on Dinosaur Land. And you must also rescue the Yoshi eggs (that can talk) to restore peace to Dinosaur Land.
You start at a house on the world map. If you choose to go to this house, then there is a speaker there. What does Mario do best? Hit blocks with his head (or more accurately, his fist that is ever so slightly higher then his head). And Yoshi will say something not really important, something about being trapped by Browser. Nothing else you can do here. That's it. Honest. You don't need to go here. You have a choice of two paths. If you happen to go left, you'll get to do a level, much like going right, only after that you get access to the great big yellow switch.
The what? Allow me to explain. Later in the game you will find coloured out-lines of blocks that you go though. This switch makes those blocks full depending on the colour of the block and switch. for example, a yellow switch will make yellow out-lines into yellow blocks, making future stages either easier or have more access to other stages. You'll need these blocks filed if you want to explore every corner of this game. There are four coloured switches. Everyone can find the yellow one, that is why I mentioned it. It's up to you to find the other three switches.
Along that, You'll find a load of Yoshi that will help you save the Princess. They can eat enemies and fruit for items. But when you get to a castle, you have to leave them behind. Which is a shame. On the map, if you're standing on a yellow circle, then that level has one route. But if you're standing on a red circle, that means there is more than one way to finish the level. If you find this secret way, then you'll have access to a new level. It's important to find these, you might find a passage to the secret Star World. Sometimes you can't get there yet because you need a certain switch to be pressed before you can do it that way, and you know the switches I'm talking about.
You'll come to a castle soon, and you'll have to get through it. You then fight a boss, and after that, you get to blow the castle up. ^^ Every time you do it differently, with the Yoshi Egg thanking you for saving it. How cute! Then you advance to the next world. Simple formula. But here's where it gets interesting. If your good enough, you'll find one of the five entrances to Star World. What is this Star World? A world in the shape of a star. Once you complete that, you'll have access to...well, I'll let you find out when you get there. =D
The music is very catchy. You'll have it stuck in your head all day. It's also quiet cheery. Not much to say, but it is very good to listen to.
Overall, I give this 9/10 squarely. This game can be played normally for great fun, or you play to find all the secrets, for even more fun. I would suggest looking for the secrets, but you can just play it normally. Have fun ^^

Super Mario World   endings
Super Mario World. The Super NES needed a strong showpiece to get people to buy the system. I was probably 11 when this came out, and I knew I had to have it. This game is just what Nintendo needed. It has the plumber you know and love, a huge world for one to enjoy, showed us Mode 7 graphics (creating depth and size), and brought us Yoshi, the dinosaur.
I do not know a single person who hates this game. I even went to a forum labeled "Mario Bros. Games I Hate", there was none for this game. It does a lot of things right. I won't tell you this is a bad game, because it clearly is not. But its not perfect.  Lets see where this review warp pipe takes us, shall we?
Changes from Super Mario Bros. 3 - wow, well you don't have the suits anymore, but you do get a cape to fly, much like the raccoon and tanuki suit. There are different themes sub-worlds like before, but levels are now replayable. The minigames have taken a large nose-dive, and I miss that from SMB 3. Also I miss Kuribo's shoe, but it was so awesome, I don't blame Kuribo if they just got their shoe back. Also no Koopalings and no airship armadas. Your enemy here is all Bowser.

Graphics: 9
The graphics had to sell this system and this game that came with it. The rich textures, the bright colors! The playful, wonderland like zones! From Yoshi's small island, you get to explore forests, a big lake, a cave network under a hill, even a pirate ship! The feeling of speed you get when flying is great, but the controls feel a little sloppy. I didn't like the ground-pound move for the cape, and found the simpler flying in SMB 3 more my style - it was way easier to control.
The ever changing world map is a great addition, as you find the exits to levels, the topography often changes. Its brilliantly done, and often unexpected.
The enemies are much sharper in quality than the NES graphics, so here old foes like Koopas pop. The goombas look way more rounded now, and Pokey the cactus - well he looks a bit evil in this one, honestly.  The beauty of having scrolling stages and castles with climbable walls, everything here tries to impress and it does. My favorite stage of all has to be the ghost houses. Very clever idea, putting all those shy boos together.
Sound: 9
The music is fantastic in this game. I love how each zone has its own track, and the different types of levels (the self-scrolling ones for example) also happen to have their own songs so you kind of know what to expect before you start. The castle music is dark and the ghost music spooky! I also love the hidden tracks as well. The sound effects are kind of funny, the bullets firing, the goofy whirl of the cape. Its classic stuff.
Addictiveness: 9
For some people this is their favorite mario game. It has so much to offer in the sheer number of levels, of things to unlock and do, the powers of the different Yoshis. Super Mario World brings a lot to the table, and its still a lot of fun to play through. My favorite thing to do was always explore the red stages until I found all the secret exits.
Story: 5
Nothing new here (until Super Mario RPG), you rescue the princess. You also get the side-quest of freeing Yoshi, which takes little to no time. I was disappointed that more wasn't done with the story - and that the mushroom guys like Toad are not featured here. Who lives on this land besides the Yoshis?  Also the ending does not mention Luigi, even if you beat it as him. Poor, dissed Luigi!
Depth: 9
When I first found out some stages had alternate exits that open up completely different areas of a level, I was floored. The choices and paths to take are yours. There is even a hidden bonus level just to get power ups.  The best surprise of all is the star markers, but I won't say more about it. Its just a lot bigger than I thought it would be. And of course its two player, but not at the same time. No one forget Luigi!
Difficulty: 6
The game is accessible to anyone, and quite fun even if you do die a lot. As we know, a weakened, small Mario dies quickly. Unlocking the zones can bring new challenges and new creatures to fight, some are definitely more annoying than others. The sub-boss is Reznor, and you will see a lot of them. Too much of them honestly. After the cornucopia of bosses that were the Koopa Kids, I missed having a different enemy per level. Bowser is there at the end, and his entrance is impressive and much more a threat than he was at the end of SMB3. So while Reznor fizzles, Bowser finishes strong.
Final Verdict: 9.3
This is a solid addition to Mario gaming, and started to bring about the changes of having a open world you could explore as you wanted, right at your fingertips. He may not talk in this version, but Luigi and Mario have everything to impress and delight in this great game.

Super Mario World, a very great game   IgorBird122
Here's yet, another review brought to you by IB122, this time, I'm reviewing Super Mario World. Super Mario World, this game happens to be one of my most favorite Mario games ever made and this game is the 4th Super Mario game made (Which some people does dubbed it Super Mario Bros. 4).
But anyways, I'm going to continue onto the review.
The Graphics:
The graphics on this game even for the first games for the Super Nintendo, this game does quite have fantastic graphics, with improved back and foregrounds, it's just amazing, and you got some new and interesting items that are added into the game like a newer looking fire-flower that we see for the next couple of games. and a lot of nice effects with some of the scenery as well.
I give this a perfect 10 out of 10
------
The Sound / Music:

For the Music, I have to say they really nailed it, every song in this game sound so nice and well done, each of the level all have an interesting tune, like the over-world, the cave, the Ghost-house, the Fort/Castle, and the Bonus stages all have interesting songs, and not just the levels, but the level select also have interesting songs as well.
For the sound effects, they're also sound great, we hear a lot of new effects added in like a newer jump sound, a new spin effect, the sound of hitting enemies, and a lot of other interesting sounds.

I give this a perfect 10 out of 10.

------
The Addictiveness:

For the addiction level of this game, it is just awesome, with all the things you can possibly do within this game is just great, with this being the first Mario game where you can play the levels again after you beaten it, and you can pretty much play a lot of levels over and over again and that my friend really makes Super Mario World. Once you do beat the whole game and it's over, that doesn't mean you want to quit it, you just reset the SNES and play again.

I give this a 9 out of 10

------
The Story:

The Story of Super Mario World is that Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach goes to Dinosaur Island for a vacation after all that transpired in the events of Super Mario Bros. 3 and they want to take a break from the castle, but for Bowser, he's not taking a break, instead, he does what he did the last 2 times, kidnapped Peach yet again while Mario and Luigi was distracted with them trying out their new cape power-up, once Mario and Luigi found out whats going on, he goes and saves Peach once again, and for more help Yoshi comes an helps out the Mario Brothers getting Peach back from Bowser.

I give this a 8 out of 10

------
The Depth:

Their is soo much depth put into this game I say is just awesome, They brought the level select from Super Mario Bro. 3 and combined it into one place and the new thing with this game that we haven't seen in past Mario games is that you can play the levels that are already been beaten (as long you don't beat the game). Not just this, but a lot of newer power-ups like the new Cape Mario that lets you fly threw the entire level i you want to, and we also see Yoshi, where you can nom up enemies and do a lot of things to help you to save the princess from Bowser.

I give this a perfect 10 out of 10

------
The Difficulty:

The Difficulty of this game isn't bad at all, once you're used to the controls of this game, this game can be done pretty quick, although some parts of the game will take a bit of time to figure out especially the later levels, and the Star and Special stages and once you go, it's smooth sailing from there.

I give this a 7 out of 10

------
Overall:

Overall, for this game, this game is just fantastic and fun to play, if you hadn't played Super Mario World, then you really need to try out this game, I highly recommend it, it's that good to try out.
Overall, I give this game a 9.5 out of 10

One of the Games that made the SNES a Must Buy   name543
When the SNES came out for the first time it only had a few games that it launched with. A lot of the time you can't always expect launch games to be that great. As the first game on the system, they tend to not use the system to it's fullest capabilities. You normally need to wait for a later game to come out on the system that really impresses and makes or breaks it. Strangely enough, Nintendo had managed to get it right with one of the first games they ever sent out for the SNES. Some copies of the SNES system even sold with Super Mario World along the console. So what makes this game so popular and such a great launch title? Well, pretty much everything except it's story.
Story: The story is the only thing I found as a major flaw of the game. I'll just go over it now so we can get to the good afterwards. You may ask what the story has to offer. Well, it starts off after the events of Super Mario Brothers 3. After their adventures in the Mushroom World, the Mario brothers had earned a vacation alongside Princess Toadstool. Though this didn't last long, as Bowser soon kidnapped her again. Well this is pretty much as far as the story goes. The Mario brothers go off to save her of course and the game begins from there. The only real change in story is the introduction of Yoshi, a dinosaur who Mario saves after Bowser forces him into an egg. Other than that, there's no story to speak of as you go to beat Bowser. Though it's not much, the story at least tells you what happened and what you need to do. Though you do have to question if Toads make good guards seeing this was the third time Toadstool was kidnapped by the same guy. I give the story a three for having the basics. The basics are all it has though.
Graphics: Well the story was the only thing I found as a mostly negative aspect. Now to start with the good, beginning with the graphics. Every area you go through is definitely a joy to look at. Mostly this is because of the light and colors of each part of the game. You'll rarely be bored by looking at the game, as each area tends to have pretty appealing graphics. The character models also look very good, and some characters have the first appearances of more current models. An example of this would be the Koopas. Each one of them stands like they normally do in the modern games. Bowser and his children are also well modeled. There are also some bonuses for the graphics. Beating the game's special levels will change some things and make some levels look different in color. It'll also change some enemies. One change is the Koopa Troopa gaining a Mario mask instead of a shell. The only really strange thing is the type of Goomba in the game. They don't look at all like the Goombas that appear before or after this game. Though they are said to be a different species, so I suppose it makes sense. The graphics get a nine for the nice sprite work and colorful areas that you'll be going through.
Sound: I can say without a doubt that the sounds in this game are very easy to enjoy. This mostly applies to the music but also can be because of the gameplay noise. Everything has it's own little sound when done, such as flying with Mario's cape, to the satisfying sound of tossing a Koopa shell around. But while the main gameplay noise is at least satisfying, the music is absolutely great. I don't think there are any pieces of music in the game that I actually found annoying. Most of them I found were nice to listen to and helped set the atmosphere. The themes for most caves are a good example. The deep tones of the song helps set the tone of going through a large cave. One of my favorite pieces of music in this game is the music that plays against Bowser. It's pretty serious and helps keep you pumped for the battle. Contrasting this is the game's main theme song. It's a lighthearted and upbeat theme that many gamers can instantly recognize when it's played to them. The sound gets a nine overall like the graphics did. The sounds made during actions are diverse and the music is normally amazing throughout the game.
Addictiveness: Super Mario world is probably one of the most addictive games I have ever played. Adding into this are the simple controls that make the game easy to pick up and play. Mario can jump, run, spin jump, and throw items naturally. Everything else is done through power ups or other items. This makes the game very simple at first glance. Though the simple controls definitely make it a game you can always come back to. You don't need to worry about not knowing the controls for the game. You just can enjoy it whenever you want. The well made level design also adds into the addictiveness. Each level tends to be enjoyable enough that you don't mind playing through it. I even have fun during the water levels while I'm playing. With each level being enjoyable to play, you'll definitely want a large amount of replays, mostly because there won't be that one horrible level that you decide not to play Super Mario World because of. The addictiveness gets a ten for being a game you can always pick up and play because of the simple controls.
Depth: Going into the depth of Super Mario World can be very tricky at first. When you start the game up, it seems pretty simple. You have to actually look through the game to see how much it will really offer you while you play it. One thing that you might notice early on is the switch palaces. Many worlds have a hidden palace as part of them that will activate blocks through the levels. These blocks show up transparent normally, and only beating the switch palace will allow them to be used. The first switch palace is easy to find, but the rest don't even seem to exist at first. You might question how you find the rest, and the answer is simple. You look to the other major addition of Super Mario world, alternate pathways found through keyholes. A lot of the game's levels seem to only have one exit, but if you find a key inside them, there will also be a keyhole to go along with it. When you put the key in the hole, you beat the level early and even go somewhere else than you would have from the normal way. These keyholes aren't the only special thing you can find. The Star Road is a hidden area that you need to use the key holes to find. Each area of the Star Road warps you to somewhere else in the game. Even better, there is a secret in Star Road involving a keyhole. Going through it opens the games special levels. The depth gets a nine for it's large amount of extra contest such as the keyholes, Star Road, and special worlds that will keep you playing far past the standard game if you want to try and find everything.
Difficulty: Super Mario World's difficulty can easily vary depending on the part of it you're playing. The main levels won't be too difficult and can be beaten by many players, even if they're not great at platformer games. There will be some challenges along the way, but most players will probably be able to go through the main set of levels without too much trouble except for maybe a few exceptions, such as the haunted ship where you have to swim past Boos that appear in front of you. The difficulty does get a pick up though if you try to beat every level in the game. The hidden special levels will make you grit your teeth and might even lead to some rage quits during the play of them. While these levels will definitely make you angry if you're not prepared, they are also a very nice challenge for those who think the normal levels are too easy, and should definitely be found and tried if you think you can get through them. In all, I give the difficulty of Super Mario World a six. The normal levels of the game range from easy to decently challenging and even pretty tough in some spots. The real difficulty comes in the form of the special world that still tends to give me trouble every time I try to play through it.
Final Thoughts: Super Mario World is one of the great games that most people tend to think of when they remember playing the SNES. The gameplay is fun and the graphics and sound are both enjoyable and help you get into the game. It is also very addictive and easy to come back to multiple times. There's a lot to do, including beating every level and trying to open up the entire map while finding the Star Roads and switch palaces for the areas. The difficulty is just where it should be most of the game. When you play through the normal game, you'll have a fun experience with some challenges on the way. The bonus levels really ramp up the challenge though if you feel you need tested. The only part of the game that's not impressive is the story, which tends to follow the same Bowser kidnaps the princess plot that most Mario games have. This shouldn't stop you from playing it though. People still play Super Mario World to this day and it has a large amount of hacks on Vizzed. That should really show you how well loved this game is even today.

Super Mario World! The awesomeness of a game.   rathlucas
Well, to start this review I wanted to announce that has been a long time since I published anything, so don't expect much of this review.
Introduction: well, its a Mario game like everyone knows, but its not just a simple Mario game, its Super Mario World, so you ask me "hey rath, whats the difference? What change?" and buddy I will be forced to answer, EVERYTHING, the sound, the graphics (oh! What a nice graphics) and much more, when you talk about a new console to a new generation, you want a new game, that show all the potential of this new console, and was that what Nintendo make in Super Mario World. Enough talking, lets go to the review.
Graphics: 9. ?Well for me, the graphics are fantastic, its so much beauty in your screen all the time, so cute and colorful, so much particles and other little details like the sprites make you remember how hard its been to produce a game like that, with that graphics and effects, I don't have much to say so all you need to know is ITS BEAUTIFUL.
Sound: 9. The sound grab to your brain and never get of it, its addictive and beautiful, like the graphics the sounds are so much well made, sometimes I grab myself listening to the soundtrack of this game, radical music, calm music, the dying sound is also very impressive, play the game and you will know what I'm saying :D.
Addictiveness: 8. Its very addictive, when you don't have nothing to play you ever want to play retro games (if you're like me of curse) but you need a awesome game, one that don't make you bored, them you simply remember of Mario, start playing and never stops, its very enjoyable and well made, with various secrets and bonus stages, you will try to find them all :D.
Depth: 8. The game have a great immersion but its not something that you see and tell "OMG, I'm Super Mario Dude" at the same time its very depth in some stages.
Story: 5. Go to the castle, rescue the princess and get kissed, replay, get to the castle and again rescue the princess in your vacations. There is just a baaaaaaaaasic history, Koppa King captured the princess, you are the hero and need to save her.
Difficulty: 6. Its not to hard and not to simple, the controls are easy to learn but sometimes its hard to learn something like fly using the cape, its just annoying to learn, but when you get it oh boy its fantastic. The basic is just jumping, if you don't understand I will simplify. "Oh look, a Goomba what I do now? I know! Jump in him head." Well its just this.
Overall: 9.7. Super Mario World is such a great game, with awesome sounds, graphics and others memorable things that will make you open your mouth and say "That's the best thing I played in years" or you will just say "Ugh, that's is old crap". I simply love that game and know that many other people love it to, so lets play till our fingers fall (just kidding :P).

Changed my View on Platformers   MechaMento
Hello readers of the many (if many o_o) I am MechaMento bringing you a review on Super Mario World for the SNES. This is my first review so be sure to give me thoughts/criticism on my review.
Super Mario World (SNES)
Why I Played This
As much as I like this game the only other platformers I have enjoyed was the 2D Sonic the Hedgehog series. I had played the NES Super Mario titles but never really enjoyed them (Mainly because I was terrible).
I was browsing around on the Vizzed Retro Game Room for just any game since I finished Doom (snes). I had made a thread asking for suggestions for a game to play, though part of my requests said I did not want to play Super Mario Bros.
Boundaries were pushed and broken since I kept being told to play Super Mario.
Eventually I gave in and started to look for a good Super Mario game that I had barely or never played. I shall thank popularity for this one since this game had made it's way to the front page of the Vizzed Retro Game Room search. The Game was only a few clicks away...
Pros (the good bits)
I now know the game well since I have finished it (hooray!!). It has more of a pleasing feel to it which I had not experienced while playing any of the previous mario titles. The levels are mainly smooth to play through. It kept me entertained since I wasn't dying all the time even if I did I had a X5 lives which come in handy. In the other Super Mario titles I had found it got too hard too quickly (then again you are reading from one of the worlds worst platformer player). Don't get me wrong the game does get tough, especially cheese bridge. I found my keyboard was damaged after FINALLY finish that. I never have eaten cheese since. >:(
When Yoshi wasn't running away from me I enjoyed his company, great feature to add on to this game. I loved the fact that you could just eat all the enemies up and spit out fire ball which contained the remains of a digested enemy, which I also find strange since I didn't realize eating Koopas will react with your tongue like a red chilli, but is that just Yoshi? I am a big fan of Yoshi's eggs, when riding him you can get extra lives which will soon go the moment you reach Cheese Bridge or any of the the special levels like Awesome.
I love the cape, especially the levels built for it. Like the first level in Doughnut Land (or plains). There is a secret path through a pipe in the level, which has to be my highlight of the game. The pipe takes you to a mini world where you run up pipes using the cape later to fly for ages collecting the hundreds of coins in the sky which will get you a load of 1ups.
Cons (the not so good bits)
There is not a lot I do not like about this game, it's one of the best platforms made. Now it's time to be picky and make Nintendo frown.
Did I mention how I play the game on mute? Yes that music style of the game you hear through out the whole thing. You know the one with the constant piano you hear in almost ever level. Don't get me wrong the sound quality is great for the SNES, but the music itself just gets annoying. I started to play it with out the sound on after the first few levels, so if I have missed a really good song be sure to inform me (preferably politely).
I don't like how the Fire Shot/Swallow button is the same as the sprint button. I guess Nintendo can not help it because the controller has limited buttons, but come on maybe Yoshi does not want to eat while running, he may choke.
I have yet to mention the story, since one never really came across to me. Was going to leave it blank, but a captured princess actually counts as a story. I just thought It was too cliche to even be considered.
All in All
All in all a great title to the mario series, so good infact it changed the way I thought about Super Mario Bros. or actually any platformer. However a certain cheese bridge does irritate the knack of my fingers, that Knack being a platform noob sort of knack.
Review my Review!!
That's right, you have put in all that effort into reading the whole thing and now I am requesting you to write (well type) a review on my review. Give it a mark out of 10, have some pros and cons like I did. Look it's not up to me it's up to you. It would just help me out a lot.
Thank You For Reading :)

Super Mario World   ross4587
I've only recently started playing the Mario games, and I can easily see why this game is considered highly popular with all Mario fans. The depth of the game and the story are easy to make out, as Mario and Yoshi once again join forces to go on a journey to track down the evil Bowser, who is responsible for the kidnapping of Princess Peach. Why nobody gives the princess proper protection, I'll never know, but yet again, the entire Mushroom Kingdom has to rely on Mario finding, and defeating, Bowser and take back the princess. Mario must think he is stuck in some sort of time loop, constantly doing this again and again. But rest assured, this game goes on a different journey.
Of course, one of the main reasons why this game is attractive are the number of levels the game has. You travel through many different area's of Dinosaur Land, trying to find the eggs of Yoshi that Bowser's minion's have stolen. They will be based in castles, and only by defeating them, will you manage to not only destroy the castles, but reclaim the eggs and continue on your quest to find the rest of them. You can travel to the castles by different routes, in that a level will have a locked-up area that leads to another route that can be followed to make the journey quicker. Those short-cuts act as additional levels, and more opportunities to increase your score and lives count. Several switches are based in different areas that can lead to invisible blocks becoming visible, depending on border color, making future levels slightly easier. You can also take steps backwards during the game, and retry the levels you have completed.
There is also a variation of levels, that can range from outdoors, a ghost house, castle and star road. I shouldn't have to mention that the Bowser battle is set in his giant castle, much like many Mario games.
On to the score and lives in the game, and there are several collectibles to pick up, and enemies to take out, that will result in a higher total. Lives can be earned by collecting small coins, Yoshi coins, and killing enemies in quick succession, as well as Yoshi eating fruit and enemies. The special stages can also be a place where extra lives are possible, but are only accessible if you break the tape attached onto the posts and that it is set at a high height. That is also the end of a level on this game. There are several tubes that Mario can go up, or down, that will lead to several new areas, some of which can earn you more lives.
When Mario comes face to face with an enemy, only one bit of damage can mean a loss of a life for Mario. Several collectibles can make Mario bigger, or powerful, to take out the enemy, but take damage and you lose that power. There are several collectibles that alter Mario's appearance, such as a feather-like item will transform Mario into his super form.
This game, overall, is so excellent to play, again and again, that you might not even leave the page, its that addictive. It is a huge game, that can actually be completed quickly if you revise the many shortcuts that Super Mario World has, but it can also be difficult, so the more harder levels can be frustrating, especially if you continue to lose life's in them. The same music tracks and sounds are consistently used throughout the game, and is easily labelled as a huge part of the Super Mario Brother's series when hearing them. As this is an early version of Super Mario, they probably aren't the same is in later versions. The graphics stick in your head, especially the make-up of the characters and enemies and the color that is used throughout, both of which make the game appealing to a large group of people.
So this game is definitely a must-play, and all Mario fans will love this game once they have sampled the huge depth of graphics, story-lines and game play that Super Mario World contains.

Super Review World   Fireproof
Super Mario World is the one game that began my childhood addiction for video games throughout the ages. I remember playing this game at the age 3 and thus started a fascination for Mario that I could not control. Everything became Mario this and Mario that. This even led to me creating my own imaginary Mario Worlds outside of the game. My point is that this is probably the highlight of my youthful gaming experience. With having such a great game at the foundation of my childhood interests, this was truly wonderful.
The Story
Mario became an instant classic and with that came the age old story of Bowser repeatedly capturing Princess Peach, holding her hostage and the plumber comes to the rescue to save her. Before long, Mario sets off on a journey that leads him throughout dinosaur land, to save Princess Peach from a top Bowser's Castle. In Mario's adventure he comes across 7 castles and 7 of Bowser's children.
+2.5 - I really like the fact that this game helped create the classic that the Mario games have become. Bowser capturing Princess Peach is the standard for most Mario games.
+2.5 - I really like that you travel from area to area to defeat Bowser's children in each of the castles. At end of each Mario destroys the castle when he sees that Princess Peach is not there.
+1.5 - I like that even the credits add a little bit more to the story.
+1.5 - I also like that Yoshi was somewhat apart of the story and is a big part of the game.
-------------------------
8
The Graphics
The stage is set in side-scrolling fun using 16-bit sprites. Although the sprites of the SNES were very limited, they still offered enough to make games back in the day feel like something special. Reflecting back we tend to try to compare graphics to today's games and think I can't believe I played that game but for Super Mario World that was never the case.
+2.5 - I really enjoyed the layout of the levels and the designs for each level. Levels really fit into the parts of the world they were hosted in. The ghost ship, for example, really felt creepy and like it was literally a ghost ship.
+2.5 - Graphics and animations are colorful. This helps catch the eye's attention and adds to the excitement to play the game. There is not too much of the same color and running into the same level countless times.
+2 - Also thought that the Castle destruction animations were pretty cool. I remember trying to create my own when I was younger and failed.
+1.5 - I really liked that as you progressed through a certain point in the game, the entire game changed color and design. I though this was unique and offered more than what you originally expected.
+1.5 - Compared to the other games on the console, these graphics remained somewhat unique and I don't think many games outside of the Mario sprites were ever as good.
----------------------
10
The Sound
Throughout the years.. Mario has had some of the most memorable music. Whether it was a song or 2, everyone will usually remember something from one of Mario's games. I fell victim to humming some of the songs here in Super Mario World. I even remember the opening song pretty easily as I type this review now and I'm a 22 year old adult who hasn't played the game in many years. 16 bit quality music brought a whole new level to gaming.
+2.5 - I loved some of the music and even hummed most of it. The opening song was probably the song I liked most but Bowser's Boss Fight theme was a close 2nd.
+2.5 - Music absolutely fit into the design of each level. The underground theme helped make the underground levels feel like it was underground. Even Star World had a pretty cool song. Even so, music probably could not have been made any better than it was.
+2.5 - Sound effects felt appropriate to each of the levels. For example, there wasn't any need for fire in a level that had no fire.
+1.5 - The sound effects were never too annoying. There might have been a few times that all you did was jump or something else but it was never too excessive. More often than not there was variety that made the game seem more appealing.
----------------------

The Depth
Super Mario World offers variety in the sense that you have new things to discover throughout the game. You're not limited to the first few things you run across in the first levels of the game and this helps give the game a bit of depth. There are a few puzzles of this game that is more than meets the eye. This ultimately pulls you deeper into the game without realizing it.
+2.5 - I really liked that this was a long game for the Super Nintendo. It takes you awhile to discover everything the game has to offer when you first play it. The level of difficulty also helps contribute to this.
+2.5 - I really liked that levels seem to be pretty big and took time to reach the end. You also needed to solve puzzles to reach certain areas. Some areas required you to really think about what you're doing wrong or what you're missing. Even the missing Yoshi coin would need you to return to a completed level to find it.
+2.0 - I really liked the use of some of the puzzles and hidden finish lines. In some levels there were multiple finish lines or you needed a key to get to another area. This was cool and some were very challenging to accomplish.
+1.5 - Castles are awesome. Without the castles I would have felt the game to be more flat and bare. The boss fights help change things up as you play.
+1 - I like being able to play as Mario and Luigi. Having the ability to play with a friend or someone from family always appeals to me in some way. The competition helps push you forward to strive to do your best.
+1 - I also liked what they did with having Yoshi as your partner. There were specific areas throughout the game that needed Yoshi but at the same time, they were areas in the game that would forbid Yoshi from going any further. I thought that this was cool.
+1 - I liked the switches because some levels prevented you from
accessing certain areas or grabbing the Feather which you wouldn't be
able to do if you didn't find that specific switch.
----------------------
10
The Difficulty
Super Mario World is a game that anyone can play. You can be young, old, middle aged, childish, mature or immature because it doesn't matter. The side scrolling fun of a game like this is meant for everyone. The overall design of this game works to challenge anyone who's never played it before. The game isn't too difficult and I'd have to say that the game is about average difficulty. Children would be able to win the game but they would die many times to do so. Adults wouldn't run into as much trouble and would probably figure out some of the puzzles a little faster.
+2.5 - Star world was probably the best. I loved the variety in the levels and they offered a few challenges that took me awhile to figure out. This could possibly be the most difficult part of the game, but it was probably the most fun too.
+2.0 - Controls were easy to handle and get used to. I never ran into any problems learning how to use the controls while doing the normal run/jump actions. I did have issues with learning how to fly when I was younger and it was pretty frustrating. It was until I was older that I went back and learned how to fly.
+1.5 - I liked that the game offered both easy and hard levels that would keep you on your toes. Simple mistakes were usually the cause of your death like jumping too soon to get to another ledge or running off an edge because you tried to jump too late.
+1.5 - I liked that finding the 2nd finish lines were a little more challenging or required you to think this through a little more.
+1.5 - Yoshi coins were a good part of the game. Normally I would play to collect all the Yoshi coins, however, I normally missed a few because I would skip a pipe or miss them hidden up on some clouds somewhere or something.
+1.0 - Levels are pretty big. It's easy to forget things or pass things up if you don't search everything. Sometimes it's required to have a Cape or Blue Yoshi to explore more of the level.
--------------------------------
10 - Likeness  6.5 - Actual Difficulty
The Addictiveness
Super Mario World is an addictive game. It plays well for anyone of any age and it's something everyone can enjoy. You might find yourself playing the game to beat it quickly or playing it to find everything and win every world. Even so there's plenty to do and it would take awhile to complete.
+2.5 - Another player can join in the fun. Competition is great and always help build rivalries between friends or family.
+2.5 - Game provides a great set of graphics with a great set of sounds. Definitely worth considering to play the game again just because it provides cool sprites and awesome music. If you enjoy the game why not play it again?
+2 - Sometimes I would turn the game on just to hear the music. Although I was younger, I still couldn't pull myself away from the game and it was silly too because I didn't always play it, just have it sitting there so I could listen.
+1 - I found myself playing this game quite a lot in my younger years and it was my favorite game until Donkey Kong Country came out.
+1 - Beat the game for the first time and I still came back to play the game. Unfortunately, I came back and beat the game many times even after I quit playing it so much.
+1 - Beat the game many times just to watch the ending many times. I did this in my younger years when I was 3 and 4 years old.
------------------------

Overall
Super Mario World is a really enjoyable game that appeals to all ages. It's been over 20 years since the release of this game for the Super Nintendo but it's still a huge hit here on Vizzed. People love the game because it's Mario. Mario is the icon for most families and it's what most children grow up on. Given that this game is old, it's still something that people of today still love and enjoy. Yes, the game is outdated but that's why Mario is a classic. People will always return to this game no matter what age they are.
Between the different categories provided here on this review.. I think that it was a perfect combination to build this game. You don't need fancy graphics to appeal to people but being that they're colorful really draws people in. The music is so memorable that people even use Mario songs as ring tones and hum it. The game is addictive, enjoyable and fun. Most of that has to do with what they included in the game. In the end it was a brilliant composition and continued the Mario Legacy.

Super Mario World - Greatest 2D Platformer Ever   geeogree
Super Mario World is by far one of the best games ever made. I’m not talking just for the SNES but gaming in general. The premise of the game is extremely simple. You need to get from one side of the map to the other before the time runs out. You have obstacles in the map that prevent you from getting there while also getting power ups and help from Yoshi’s. The execution of the game however is so much more interesting than that. Level design is so unique and difficult at times that it can take multiple tries just to beat 1 part of a level. There is very little disadvantage to dying though.
It would seem that since this game was packaged with the SNES basically since the SNES came out that it wouldn’t have been that great of a game (I find a lot of the packaged games are average at best) but this game is one that didn’t fit that mold. I think the success of the game actually helped to fuel purchases of the SNES console. I don’t have evidence to back that up but if I got a game of this quality with a new console I would be more inclined to buy a newer console.
Graphics – 9/10
The graphics in this game are some of the best for the console in spite of being one of the earliest games designed for it. Each area of the world has its own theme which runs pretty consistently through the area you are playing in. There are also foreground and background visuals in each level that keep the environments interesting. The animations are overall very cartoonish but that’s the overall feel of the game visually. I also appreciate that in spite of how quickly you are moving sometimes that the game doesn’t seem to lag or slow down during that. Flying is smooth and seamless visually which helps to make it easier to do.
There are very occasional slowdowns when there are a LOT of things on the screen at once. These incidents are pretty rare in occurrence but when they did happen it was almost needed to deal with the vast amount of stuff going on at once.
The other nice difference over the NES versions is the overworld is much more interesting to look at. Super Mario 3 brought that concept into the game but Super Mario World made it a lot more interesting to look at and made it more interactive. Although I do miss the random events that you could experience in Super Mario 3 there are enough other nice things in Super Mario World that make up for it in the overworld.
Sound – 8/10
The sound for this game is great. The music doesn’t have tons of variability but it is so well done that you don’t really care how much it repeats. Like when you go into a Haunted House level the music is the same every time. However, the track for the Haunted House fits so perfectly that it doesn’t matter that much to you. Also, being a 16-bit game the music is pretty limited in what it is capable of but again the tracks are done well enough that the music just fits with the gameplay. Like the graphics the music is fairly cartoonish but that fits the overall feel of the game.
The sounds I do find can get a bit annoying. I’m not sure how I would feel if the jump sound was no longer in the game but I also don’t know if I need a sound every time I jump. I’m probably so used to hearing it that if it went away I would notice instantly but it’s hard to say. Still, that is probably the most repeated sound in the game and listening to the game play again while writing this review it did become noticeable. Still, the music and other sounds in the game balance it out enough that it isn’t the worst thing. There are games with far worse sounds and music but that’s part of why I gave it only an 8.
One great thing about the sound though was when you jumped onto a Yoshi. The music didn’t change completely but there was an added bonus of an upbeat addition to the background of the song already playing. It really added to the excitement having a Yoshi to have that extra music playing in addition to whatever was already playing in the level.
Addictiveness – 10/10
I don’t know how you rate this game any lower. I grew up on this game and have played it through so many times that I’ve lost count. I’ve gotten the yellow and green block so many times that I can almost do it without really thinking about it. I can remember basically every secret ending and hidden item in the game. I could very likely play through it and get the *99 total completion even now. In fact I feel like I did that in the last year or 2 after trying to get my daughter into playing Mario. Still, I could sit down and play this game today and still enjoy it just as much as I did years ago. The gameplay is tough but enjoyable especially early on. And the challenge of getting all the secrets again is still fun. Some secrets or special things in games are so difficult to find that it’s more of a chore than an enjoyment. Super Mario World does the special/hidden things much better.
Story - 4/10
There isn’t really a story to this game. Well, it’s the same story as Super Mario 1 and Super Mario 3. Bowser has taken the princess and it is Mario’s job to get her back. Of course this time around he has a friend in Yoshi to help him out in this monumental task but basically it is the same story. Strangely enough the story doesn’t get old. You’d think rehashing the same story would make the game boring but the story isn’t the focus in a game like this. The game play is the focus. The story in this game is there just enough to give Mario a reason to do anything.
I do think that the Yoshi did add something to the game though. If it had just been Mario on his own again then it wouldn’t have had nearly the staying power that it has. Adding Yoshi added a new dimension to the game. More things were possible with a fire breathing, flying, super stomping Yoshi as a helper. Without Yoshi I don’t know if this game would have been quite as popular as it was.
Depth – 7/10
It’s not the biggest game out there by far but I feel like Super Mario World has enough in it that it is quite a long game to beat. I know it is possible to beat the game in 20-30 minutes if you know the way through the Star Road but if you play the game through properly you can probably spend 5 or 6 hours on it. That’s nothing compared to A Link to the Past or Chrono Trigger type games that can take 20-30 hours to beat but this is a side scroller so to offer up 5-6 of solid gameplay I think is commendable. Plus, there is beating the main game and then beating everything to get to the *99 total. This will take the average person WAY longer. Especially if it is your first time trying to do this. Beating all the stuff in the Star Road and completing other difficult special endings to levels add a lot of depth to the game that isn’t required but is easily available to be attempted.
Something else to point out for the depth that I hadn’t really thought of before. Your NES platformers were pretty standard in their level types. Ice levels, fire levels, tree levels. Not much else. And there was little variety to the levels themselves. You had to get to the end and that was basically it. With Super Mario World you added some variety with the Haunted Houses which were puzzle or maze styles. Also the Castle levels had some really difficult forced scrolling types that challenged your ability to navigate obstacles and remember patterns. These kinds of levels really added to the variety of what you had to expect from Super Mario World in comparison to the NES level of scrolling games.
To go along with the new level types were the hidden or 2nd way to beat a level. This was basically unheard of in a platformer before the SNES and Super Mario World. Most of the time you beat a level and the only difference was whether or not you found everything as you went through the level. If you missed something then you missed it because the level was over. Super Mario World not only gave you multiple chances to play each level but in many cases required finding 2 ways to beat the level in order to access different areas of the map. This makes the game much more interesting to play. It give you incentive to not just beat each level as quickly as possible but to investigate things and try out new ways to beat levels. I remember at least 1 level that depended on how fast you could get through each section of the level to determine which ending you achieved. I loved this concept for a level. Obviously in limited use but it forced you to learn the level and get better at it before rewarding you with the secret outcome. Adds to replay-ability of the game.
Difficulty – 6/10
I’m giving this 2 ratings. To beat the game itself I would say 6/10. It’s not that difficult of a game to play. The average player can beat it easily without too much of a learning curve or too much trouble. Most of the regular endings to levels can be figured out in one try and the tougher ones might take 3 or 4 tries to complete at the most. This to me gets an average difficulty rating.
However, to fully complete the game gets a 9/10 for me. Even now after playing this game dozens of times I still have trouble with the final 8 levels in the Star Road. The ones that you get to by going through the very middle star portal. Those 8 levels aren’t long but they require a lot of precision to get through. I’ve beaten many of them in 1 try and died 20 times trying to beat them. I’m not sure if I’m just lucky sometimes or if I really am no good at the game some days. These levels (and a handful of other difficult to achieve secret levels) are the reason for the 9/10 rating. It’s not the most difficult stuff I’ve ever come across but it is up there in challenge.
The game does balance the difficulty well though. The main game is tough enough that you have to improve as you play and learn different things in order to have the skills to get through the final levels but the precision and complexity of these things is not so extreme that you have to spend hours honing those skills in order to beat the game.
Overall – 10/10
This is by far one of the best games for the SNES. Not just my opinion but the overall consensus of millions of people agree with that. It even stands up as one of the best games ever made even now for me. The fact that I willingly go back and play it again after 25 years of playing the game is a testament to how well it was made. I also think that this game was the peak for Mario gaming for many years. I haven’t spent a lot of time playing Super Mario Wii but I think that game brought back a lot of what was great about Super Mario World and is probably on par for me as one of the best Mario games after this one.

Super Mario World Review   thehedgehogsonic
Hello, of course it's me again and I came here to make a review for Super Mario World a great game for Super Nintendo. This game is great and has a lot to it.
I like this game and it is very fun especially with this plug in because you can use save states and use them on some of the hardest parts such as the Special World or even chat with your friends who are also playing this game. I would rate it a 9.9 because it is of course a Mario game. Gotta love Mario!
The graphics are very good. However in this game, Dry Bones is a bit big but that does not make me stop liking some of the coolest graphics in history.
(((Sound))), Very good. Often ROM hacked in ROM hacks of Super Mario World. It is very addicting. I used to love love love love the athletic theme when I was little! And many of those songs were copied onto Mario is Missing. Everyone knows that game sucks so bad! Otherwise, this game has eloquent and fantastic sounds and music.
Story: Mario and Luigi have took a vacation in Dinosaur Land and realized the Princess has been kidnapped again. Just like every other Mario game. This story is typical for these games, but I still like it even if it does not have an intro. Story by Game: Welcome. This is Dinosaur land. In this strange world we find that Princess Peach is missing again. I know I left out that last part but I am a Newbie so I can only post real words. I know, very depressing. But the story IS great either way even if it's not that descriptive.
Now this game has a lot to go with it. 96 fun levels to play through, all are fantastic. Switch Palaces in Yellow Green Red and Blue to discover ! Blocks of those colors.  I don't want to reveal the secret exit to those who haven't made much progress because it is of course against the rules of making reviews because of spoilers. And get 100 stars when you cut the tape at the goal and win a Bonus Game. Hit the blocks (The middle one is decided for you) and it will either land on a Mushroom a Fire Flower or a Star. Try to line them up and you'll get 1ups for it. There are many things to do in this game!
This game is quite easy if you are a super player. I rate this difficulty a one, but some of you other people may disagree if you are not a super player. Many beginners rate it high unlike me but if you get past the Special World which is freaking hard will prove you are a super player. It says so in funky. But back on to the topic, this game is easy but may get challenging as it goes on.
This has been another review from me, The Hedgehog Sonic so make sure you rate it high!

Here we go!   Lethal_Hex_00
Ladies and gentlemen! If you are searching for a classic SNES game to put a smile on your face then Super Mario World is definitely one to go for! It encompasses many of the attractive SNES qualities from the 1990s and provides a fabulous gaming experience for young and old gamers alike.
Let's get right to it. The ratings!
Graphics 9/10 :
Classic pixel-art sprites inside a diverse world full of different lands, characters, objects, you name it! All things from Mario himself to Koopa minions are well-done. Each stage is different than any other! Whether you're jumping to spinning platforms or riding a dolphin, the graphics are sure to be a pleasant sight to see. The animation sequencing is done very well for its simplicity. Throwing shells and shooting fire balls all look nice and really flow smoothly throughout the gameplay.
Sound 10/10:
Who could mistake the theme song for Mario Bros?! The classic melody plays itself on every stage with just a slight variation which accentuates the type of board you are playing. Fun Fact time! All the music for Super Mario World SNES was composed and played by one man on a keyboard! Pretty talented to say the least! The sound effects are magnificent as well. From hitting a Koopa with a shell or throwing on a cape, the effects are very fitting for each of their events.
Addictiveness 10/10:
Super Mario World offers hours of fun-filled entertainment. Did you just die? Probably won't be the last time! The addicting quality to the game can sometimes almost mount frustration! After dying a few times, the impatience which ensues only leads to more failure and before you know it.... BAM! addicted. Restarting a whole region doesn't even destroy the fun. In fact, it only seems to drive the player to try harder and think about a different way of approaching a situation in a level! Prepare yourself to not be able to step away.
Story 10/10:
Although the story is quite limited, I find that all the Mario games seem to follow such a pattern. This one is no exception! Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach are out for a vacation, when of course Princess Peach is left alone to be kidnapped by none other than Bowser! Time for Mario to adventure through the many lands of the world and save Yoshi's friends while ultimately defeating Bowser in an epic duel!
Depth 10/10 :
Mario always seems to impress me when it comes to depth. At face value it seems to simply be a 2D side-scrolling adventure and that's it. But when you look into all the additional features within the gameplay, it forces the player to be more aware of secret nooks and crannies which can lead to special surprises! Besides the diversity in landscape and characters for each region, there are secret switches to be found, a secret base to uncover, and a Star Road to open up! Not to mention Star Road can actually shortcut a player straight to Bowser's Castle! It is worth searching for!
Difficulty 4/10 :
Not a hard game to get the hang of at all! It is easy to understand, but challenging to complete. Some levels are definitely easier than others, but every gamer has a weakness to one type of board and that is why Super Mario World is so complete. From swimming to flying there are many ways to succeed.... and many ways to die! The game is challenging enough to provide a few failures, but general gameplay is fairly simple to move through and it leaves the gamer with a feeling of accomplishment to make it through each region one-by-one!
Now that I've expressed my opinion about Super Mario World SNES I hope you go and give it a shot! It is a wonderful game and it is sure to capture your gaming attention! Good luck finding Princess Peach!
Sincerely,
Lethal_Hex_00

(i have copy/pasted this from my previous review because it messed up, i have permission to do so)
I love this game, I used to have it on Nintendo so I was pretty happy when I found it on vizzed. True to the original Mario style its composed of levels, with each level area ending in a boss and a somewhat cheesy but amusing cut scene.
You can get power ups in the form of the flight cape, the fire flower and the growth mushroom which can all allow you to finish the level in a different way. You can also find yoshi in some levels, which is always useful. He can eat most of the enemies so if you get him it becomes significantly easier. A classic game and lots of fun, well worth a play.
Graphics wise its actually pretty decent. I mean, ok, it's only got one dimension, and the backdrop is essentially a repeating picture but its an old game. And I've never experienced any graphical glitches either so consistency is high here.
Addictiveness is high too, the only reason I stopped playing is I have no clue how to advance now =(
Story and depth, I'm really not sure wheat's going on. You battle through a few levels and then reach a boss. After an epic battle that usually consists of jumping on them (what the?) you get the little cut scene of Mario running into the castle, carrying out an egg, then destroying the castle in a random manner. So fairly repetitive story but hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it I guess.
The sounds not bad, you actually get different tracks based on the level/location which s kinda cool. You also get a fairly annoying sound every time you jump, use a pipe, jump on something, eat an enemy with yoshi etc but its kinda funny so that's good too.
Classic game, great fun, lots to do, play it, you wont regret it I'm sure.

Super Review (No Plagiarism this time.)   supermario641234
This game just makes me so happy. Even though I never got it on my Super Nintendo I still love the game. First of all is the graphics. The graphics are pretty good for a game made in 1991 and re-made on Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World. It has a great and happy feel to it. Just makes me want to make a time machine and go to the 16-bit era and get this game for my Super Nintendo. Next is the sound. The sound in the game is great for the Sound System they had for the Super Nintendo. I could go on youtube and listen to the soundtrack over and over until I got bored. My favorite song in the game is Yoshi's Island 1. Next is the addictiveness. I could play this game for 3 hours straight if I could. Just taking down the enemies in Yoshi's Island with the Fire Flower is so fun I would have 800,000 points just from taking down enemies in the First Level.  Now  is the story. The story is like in any other Mario game. You save the Princess from Bowser and you win the game. Not much to say about this. Now for the Depth of this game. It offers alot of levels from Yoshi's Island to Bowser's Castle . It takes quite a long time to beat it. Finally the Difficulty. This game very hard but not hard enough to make me rage quit. Overall I give this game a 10 out of 10.

Super Mario World Review   Divine Aurora
" Let's ah Go, It's ah Mario time! ", the common catch phrase that can be heard said by the infamous plummer himself Mario! In this Mario game Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Princess Toadstool are enjoying a nice get together/ picnic in Dinosaur Land. Mario & Luigi step out to go for a nice glide around Dinosaur land, but the moment they leave the evil scheming Bowser comes and kidnaps Princess Peach and it's up to Mario (with the option of playing as Luigi) to save her! In addition for the first time in any game in the Mario franchise Yoshi comes in four colors, green, yellow, red, and blue but to unlock the colors you have to find the secret star world levels so enjoy and good luck finding them!
Graphics: 10"How's Mario looking now days?" ,well in Super Mario World the graphics are of moderately high quality, you can make out fairly easy which character's are who although there actual face close up isn't very detailed. Now the stage design however was flourishing in detail and the animation was suburb. For example on water stages Mario could be seen breathing underwater so little air bubbles would show and would be rising to the top while Mario was submerged underwater and the water would rock in a rocking motion from left to right at the top. On the land stages the sky depicts moving clouds which made the game more realistic to me.
Sound: 9The sound heard in Super Mario World isn't very special I'm sorry to say. Nothing really particular stuck out for me with Super Mario World's sound properties. The sound didn't make me feel like I was in the Mario world but then again it was rather bland and repetitive on stages but when you changed over worlds the soundtrack did alternate, and could be heard smoothly and clearly with perfect pitch.
Addictiveness: 8
Super Mario World is diffidently well worth a second go around(replay) because the world seen in Dinosaur land is unique and it has in my opinion the best line up of Koopa bosses in the Mario franchise. Other contributing factor to my reasoning for being addicted to Super Mario World would be the all the secret stages spread out all over the game, and the different colored Yoshi's. Now the secret stages contribute to the Super Mario World's addictiveness to play because finding and unlocking all of the secret stages take time and concentration and you can't just breeze trough looking for them(hint you can find them extremely early on in the game). Now the different colored Yoshi's make the game addicting because you have to find them and complete the level you found them on to get them permanently(and finding the secret area's to unlock them aren't easy). And last but not least there are these switch boards that you have the option of looking for and can unlock to unlock certain thinks on stage's like powers and etc. Their are four switch boards so good luck finding them(they color of the switch boards are yellow, green, red and blue).
Story: 8
Well if you were expecting the Mushroom Kingdom you are sorely mistaken! This Mario game takes place in Dinosaur land, a far off place were Mario and Luigi decided to take the two princess Peach and Toadstool. Well story from that point on goes on like any other game in the Mario franchise, Princess Peach manages to get herself captured by Bowser and it's up Mario and Luigi to save her(in Super Mario World you can alternate and play as both). The bosses seen in Super Mario World preside in castles there are 7 main boss castles(the bigger ones with numbers) and the mini bosses preside in the smaller looking castles. There are plenty of stages as well as worlds both secret and regular to keep you occupied for quite a long time!
Depth: 8
"So how big is the game and what does it offer?", Super Mario World is huge, with 9 worlds altogether(counted with the two secret ones) and there are way to many stages to count both secret and regular.  The game takes a while to beat and in the final castle navigation is difficult because the final castle has a combination of every castle you beat stage design. The game has plenty to do in it you will be occupied for quite a while if you plan to do everything there is to do in the game like find the secret star road or the top secret area and even locating the multiple colored Yoshi's.
Difficulty: 7 The difficulty of Super Mario World is pretty relaxed, with the simple controls the game has. There are no complex control maneuvers so difficulty is next to none. Bosses can easily be beaten with little effort. The only problem's I had with the bosses were castles 3 and the final castle, Boswer's(even though you fight him on a air ship).
Overall: 9.5
The overall experience with Super Mario World was, the game was pure fun, even though the difficulty was easy and the story's overall plot is repetitive.

This is super! (staff review #10)   Stevie 764
At a rapid pace, I introduce, Mario, in a super world!
Instructions: Everybody's favorite character, Mario, must save Princess Peach after getting kidnapped by Mario's enemy, Bowser. You play through 7 worlds, with a total of 96 levels to play through. You have a set time limit in every level, except for the bonus stages after earning 100 stars. When the time limit runs out, you die, like every other game in existance does. You collect bonus stars by crossing the tape at the right time near the top. When you get 100 stars, you go to a bonus stage to earn up to 8 possible 1-ups. You get 5 lives, you can cap it at 99. Mostly for the last levels in the game, because it can help out with 99 lives. The live counter resets after resetting the game, though, like some other games. Not very common. You do earn points by stomping enemies, collecting special coins, and comboing enemies, along with time bonuses. You can cap it at 9,999,990. There's a problem, it resets too when resetting. It's easier to cap your life count and score on the Game Boy Advance port since the GBA version saves your lives and score when you save your game.
Graphics - 10
No wonder why the game is super! The graphics are amazing, especially if you were new to the SNES system. It was perfect, and I can't disagree at all. The sprites are very detailed. Although with the SNES era, more pixels had to be made. Thanks to that, the sprites became more awesome with later and more modern systems. This is what super nintendo can easily do, super things.
Sound - 8
The music is nice and relaxing, but sometimes, some soundtracks are a little haunt making, especially the ghost houses spread around most of the worlds. The sound effects are good. Mario's jump sound is more polished, but it gets repetitive. There are many sounds that I find nice, but do I have to keep talking about this every time?
Addictiveness - 8
This is a very fun game, especially in 2 player mode. There are many levels, but not just that, but there are castles to go into to fight the bosses, bonus palace stages to help light up [!] boxes of the specified color to reach secret spots or to help out, and spooky ghost houses that are filled with, well, boos, since it is a ghost house.
Depth - 9
This is a very long game. It takes months to complete all 96 possible levels in the game. Some levels have red dots, indicating that there are 2 exits in the level. The secret exits can be found by lighting up [!] for some levels, like Dount Plain 1, for example. Speaking of 96 levels, there's 5 dragon coins in nearly every level of the game. You get a lot of points for collecting them, and getting them all gives a 1-up. There is a special bonus for collecting all the dragon coins on the GBA version, but like before, these can't be revealed as in it would be a spoiler if it does get revealed. Same thing with the 96 levels bonus.
Story - 3
It's always just the same story of Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach, and like always, Mario has to save her. Every time the exact same story is told in every game, it gets so rage making and annoying it makes you want to wish you don't ever want to see that same story in another Mario game ever again.
Difficulty - 8
It is hard. It only gets hard starting from world 4. In World 4, there's a cheese bridge, but the 2nd level of the cheese bridge is almost impossible to beat, even with patience. It's 5% harder trying to get all the dragon coins, because losing just one dragon coin will make you have to die to get it again, but there's no check points, and the whole level autoscrolls while there are many falling and raising platforms. Not trying to spoil this next one, but the most hardest level in the whole game is Tubular in a secret world. It took me more than 50 tries to beat. Most of you guys may have never even found the level or beat it. Then again, getting the dragon coins while beating that level makes it like 20% even harder.
Overall - 9.2
It is such a good game to play, despite the issues with difficulty preventing some people with finding all 96 exits and the sometimes annoying stuff, it is a fun game to play until the end, and it is a super world for Mario to be in. You must atleast try this game.
Extra things I remember
I first played this game when I was 6, upstairs in the year 2006, on a Super Nintendo. I still have the system amd the cartridge, but I am missing a plug for the SNES, so I can't get the SNES to work anymore. I lived through the frustration of the Tubular level, taking atleast 30-50 tries to beat it, while raging. That was in 2010 when I first played Tubular. I'm not going to get all 96 exits, but it was fun. I do remember the boss fights, especially the final boss. :) I found the other Mario games better than Mario's annoying jump sound. Like I said before, it does get repetitive having to jump more than thousands of times through all the Mario games I played.
(Thanks for reading this. Upcoming reviews coming in fast before I start back at 1 & 2 reviews/week)

Super Mario World Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 9.5
Super Mario World has been one of my favorite games of all times.  I think that everyone should play this, it has been very popular throughout the world.  I just really enjoyed playing this game.  This game is one of the greatest games ever on the SNES. :)
Graphics - 10
The graphics are awesome.  What I like about it is the power ups and the enemies look great in this game. It is just like Super Mario Bros. 3, only a whole lot better. :)
Sound - 10
The sound (and songs) is awesome.  It just brings back good memories of playing Mario games.  The sound effects are still the same. :) The jumping and the landing on enemies still the same.
Addictiveness - 9
The game is so much fun.  I would play it everyday alone and with my friends.  And the most addicting thing is finding all the secrets and getting a 100% (which is VERY hard).  I have gotten 95% of the game done and I still can't figure out where are more secrets in the game, but it sure has a bunch of secrets and bonus levels.  The levels in the game are so fun.  Some are strategic and some are just plain simple. :P
Story - 8
The story is basically the same.  Bowser captures Princess Peach and Mario and/or Luigi has to save her, but first, they have to beat the 8 castles and go through a big adventure.
Depth - 8
The game has a lot of things to do.  Like I said, it has a lot of secrets and hidden levels that you wouldn't imagine.  It took me like a day or two to beat the whole game.
Difficulty - 4
The game is not that hard once you get used to it.  I remember having a hard time playing this, but when I got used to it, I would own the whole game in any level.  Some of the levels are very hard to beat, but it takes time to beat some of the levels. :)
Wrap Things Up...
Super Mario World has had its famousness everywhere in the world and has made some good hacks for it too.  I highly recommend trying this game out, I guarantee that everyone would play this game or at least try it out.  You can also try out Super Mario World 2, it is a whole lot different, but it still is fun.  I am going to make a review of Super Mario World 2 whenever I can. :)

One of the best for da SNES   Batcake
Yep, it's me again and I'm back with a review! I'm the Bot and I'm going to obviously review Super Mario World, probably the best SNES game I have ever heard of.
Lets just get started already, don't lay in the mudpile!
Introduction:
Super Mario World was a game made for the SNES or Super Nintendo Entertainment System in the nine - teen eighty's. One of the best series this game is in, this game became more popular as time went on. The Mario series was a huge hit, now, and even back then. This game was the one that shocked nearly everyone that had a SNES. They never seen such beautiful graphics, tremendous music, and all of it is amazing. Now this has taken long enough. We better move on to the Graphics and the main part of this review!
Graphics - 10 / 10.
Yep, a perfect score in my opinion! Brand new graphics then those strange looking ones for the original NES or Nintendo Entertainment System. Yoshi, mario was great! Mario actually looked more detailed, even he has a mustache and actually eyes and a real hat! Yoshi , the new one looked greater than ever back then! I will miss these times.
The enemies were designed very well, goombas to the boss, Koopas to Paratroopas. I would surely miss those great times when I had the game. No deductions, no nothing. Just perfect at the time the game was released. =)
Music / Audio - 10 / 10
Perfect score again! 2 10's in a row sure prove the game is amazing since it is one of the biggest topics on a review.
This game has completely new music. Nearly none from the old one. I love the BRSTM's and the soundtrack the game offers. Even music like the Boss fight, or even jumping on a goomba makes a squishing sound. Marvelous job by the creators right there.
On to the next topic already, I guess. .-.
Addictiveness - 9 / 10 Of course this is one of the best games to speedrun. Lots of people try it for it 24 hours straight on stream to get a World Record (WR) or something. Speedrunners love and sometimes hate this game. That is obviously one fact.
And for the other people.. Me, myself made a Youtube mini - series so you might be able to tell that I play this game quite a bit. People usually love this game, especially they are stuck on a level really hard and seriously want to beat it and did beat it, so for a fact they usually play it over and over until they find an even greater game. Plus there is a reason
I made a review. It's because I love it and play it so much! xD
I only deducted 1 point because sometimes get tired of this game on just WORLD ONE. Many people do that and just Rage quit. (RQ) If it wasn't for that, it would be a perfect score, 3 times in a row.
Story: - 10 / 10
ANOTHER PERFECT SCORE???? YOU BETTER BE KIDDiNG.
Not. This deserves a 10. Peach gets captured by the evil Bowser, Mario is on a quest to save her... And maybe Yoshi I totally forgot. The only thing I know is that this is very similar to most of the other previous Mario games besides the second one. Great story still and I always liked it. There was actually details and stuff to save them. Poor them. =(
Depth - 8 / 10
Not THAT long like some other games. They could obviously make more new levels, and maybe continue the story. The whole game is somewhat long but not as long as some games we have today. This does not count toward or against it for points. I wish it was 16 worlds or something but I guess not. :/ I don't blame Nintendo for it or anything.
And for the Final one...
Difficulty - 7 / 10
This game wasn't that hard at all. The only hard parts was maybe some bosses or some levels with good enemies but this game isn't that difficult. I would expect quite a challenge but that is just okay. But what would be cool is that all bosses connected together? That would look tall, strong and creepy at the same time. I would add a few points to the final score if it was more challenging and difficult.
-----
Yeah, this game IS pretty good.
Terrific graphics, Fabulous audio,, addictive, Great story, pretty long depth at the time, and not so difficult. It truly has it all for me. And the fact that you can ride a yoshi is awesome. =D
Final score - 9.5 / 10.
-------------------------
I also saw that there was spammers. I would like replies to this to be at least 20 words long and explained why or why you didn't like it to see for spam.
I love to get feedback, so don't forget to give some! ^_^

Super Mario World, one of gamings classic   unfurledearth
Super Mario World, I say its one of the most classic games ever.  With its great music to keep you up and the music is catchy so you have an excuse if anyone is bothered by you singing it. Really, its just a great game. The controls are unique in a way. The button to jump is the B button, you don't see that every day now do you. When you play with a game cube controller, you have to hold it a certain way to run and jump at the same time. Yes I know the A button can let you jump but you don't jump as high as the B button jump, plus when your on a Yoshi, you have to hold it a certain way. Though its like the castle's levels are really hard but the bosses are easy. But, the level makes the boss hard because you spend a lot of time getting stuff like the cape and extra capes, then you go through the level and lose all your things, then when you face the boss, he's so hard because one hit to you and your dead and three hits to beat the boss. If you are someone who is new to the game, here's a tip. Whenever your low on lives, just go back to the second level (the one on the right) and play it again and again until you feel like you have enough lives. It's also great to use it to get a yoshi. Also, if you need to save, just go and beat the easiest ghost house you can beat. This game starts out easy but then once you get to the sixth world, it gets hard. So, if you like this review, then super Mario world is the game for you. Thank you for reading this review.

Super Mario World Review   totaldramaman2
The Super NES launched in 1991. Back when Nintendo was on top of their game, with great Mode 7 graphics, epic soundtracks and amazing gameplay. I just described the best of the SNES with one game: Super Mario World. Many are split between this game and Super Mario 3 being the best game, and then there are people who say that Mario 64 is the best, and then that argument is carried further with some citing Mario Galaxy as the best. While all are great games, to me, Super Mario World is the best by far. If I could only play one platformer for the rest of my life, 2D or 3D, it would be this game.
Graphics - 8
1991 was a time where all gamers had to pick a side: Sonic or Mario. While Sonic had colorful graphics while you're speeding by, and dull graphics in Labyrinth Zone... the part you'll see the most... Super Mario World delivers great graphics through all 80+ levels. It's a great way to look at the Super NES's graphic capabilities, although I think games like A Link to the Past look better. Still, it looks good.
Sound - 9
The music is a little overused in the fanbase, probably because it's so good. There's not a single bad song in the game, they're all really catchy. There's not too much to say here, but Koji Kondo, the music producer for this game, should get to work on New Super Mario Bros series. There's too many re-used songs there. But here, there are no re-used songs. Full of originality. And greatness.
Addictiveness/Depth - 10
There's 96 exits in the game, and that leaves a lot of time to find them. I've memorized most of them, and it's fun to put my memory of the secrets to the test by playing the game every once in a while. On top of that, it's extremely fun to play, just like a Mario game should be. There's just something here that games today like New Super Mario Bros 2 just don't have. Finding all of the Dragon Coins could take a while too, and that's part of truly 100%-ing the game. There's even two secret worlds. Overall, your first time playing could take weeks, but the time I played it for the sake of this review only took 7 hours to beat. It's really easy to get good at this game.
Story - 6
There's nothing to the story. Mario, Luigi, and Princess Toadstool all went on a vacation after the events of Super Mario 3, and Bowser and the Koopa Kids kidnap her. ...okay... It's the same as before, just with the vacation in Dinosaur Land thrown in.
Difficulty - 7
As with pretty much every Mario platformer, this game is pretty easy. It would have been a 6 if it wasn't for one level in the Special World. Tubular. It took a lot of precise strategy to figure out how to complete this level, more than I had ever seen in a 2D Mario game ever. The Bowser fight was also probably the hardest of any Mario game other than New Super Mario Bros Wii. If you're looking for a challenge, why are you even trying a Mario game? Oh, other than Super Mario Bros: Lost Levels.
OVERALL - 9.8
This is pretty much the perfect platformer. Sure there are better SNES games, like Zelda: A Link to the Past. But that's a different genre. If you haven't played this yet I honestly feel bad for you. Just do it. Do it now. You'll only regret it when you find out how long you've been playing it for.

Its A Mario Game!   drago
Wow! What A Great Game! Super Mario World Is Likely The Best Mario Game On The System. You Travel Through The Mushroom Kingdom With Your Prehistoric Pal, Yoshi! He Can Eat Your Enemies With His Long Tongue. Also, When He Eats Enough Fruit He'll Hatch An Egg Which Will Have An Item For Mario Or Luigi To Use. This Time Around Bowser Isn't Alone, Like In Super Mario Bros. 3 His Koopaling Children Are Back With Even More Power To Stop Mario And Luigi From Saving Princess Peach.
Graphics - Compared To The Others On The System Super Mario World Has Great Graphics! The Colour Palette Used Is Very Cheery And Makes The Game More Appealing For A Family Game. 10/10
Sound - The Music In Super Mario World Is Pretty Good, It's The Same Song Changed To Fit The Level But It's Pretty Catchy! 8/10
Addictiveness - This Game Is Pretty Tough If You Want 100%. You Won't Be Able To Beat This Game In One Sitting, You'll Have To Keep Coming Back As You May Have Missed A Yoshi Coin Or A Star Road Pathway. 8/10
Story - Well, To Be Honest This Is A Mario Game. You Don't Need A Story! It's Recycled From The Other Games But It's Enough For You To Tell That The Princess Of The Mushroom Kingdom Has Been Kidnapped. 6/10
Depth - This Game Is Packed With Secrets And Most Of Them Aren't Even Hinted! So You'll Be Checking Pipes And Walls For Secrets! This Game Is Also Pretty Big Without Even Trying To Get 100%. Also This Game Has Secret Worlds So Look Out For Those! 10/10
Difficulty - Like Every Mario Game, The Game Will Get Harder As It Goes Along. But Thats Not A Bad Thing As Players Will Want To Beat The Level Even More! ( By The Way If You Just Started Playing Watch Out For The Bonsai Bill On The First Level.) 6/10
Overall This Game Is Awesome And Totally Worth The Viz! You Will Play For Days And There Will Still Be More To Go Through! Super Mario World Is A Must Play! 9.5/10

This is the game of the 90's kids childhood, if you were born in the late 80's or the early 90's you had this game, it was just to good to pass up. You can literally spend hours playing this game and it'd feel as if only minutes have past by because this game is that awesome and addicting.
Graphics: 10/10
The graphics for this game were great, especially for it's time period. It's not all pixelated to the point where it's hard to look at, everything flowed together beautifully and all the animations were done perfectly. Nintendo really went all out for this game and it shows.
Sound: 10/10
The music done for this game was great, it repeats but not to the point where it annoys you. It doesn't sound like it's muffled or anything, all the notes are clear and sound amazing.
Addictiveness: 10/10
This game has so much replay ability, once you beat the game you'll want to play it again. The levels really don't get boring and you'll always be trying to beat your best time or your high score for a level or be looking for little secrets that you've missed through the first play through. As I said earlier you could literally be playing this game for hours and it'd feel like only minutes have past by. It truly is a lot of fun, my group of friend's have spent numerous occasions playing this game just trying to one up each other or just trying to speed run the entire game in one hangout time session.
Story: 10/10
The story develops nicely as you try to save your precious Princess Peach. It's the same story line as every Mario game, but each level design doesn't disappoint you and the ending boss battle is entertaining and really keeps you on your toes, especially on your first play through.
Depth: 10/10
You can literally speed run this game in 10 minutes and 11 seconds or you can spend hours upon hours finding every secret out about this game which actually is really exciting and interesting. Either route is a fun option.
Difficulty: 3/10
The game isn't really difficult to learn, after the first level or two you should have the hang of the controls and on your way to speed running through levels with ease.
Overall: 10/10
I would recommend this game for anybody, whether it would be a little kid or an adult, I'm sure they'll love playing this game. It's not to difficult to learn but hard enough to keep it fun and challenging.

#001 Super Mario World... One of the greatest Mario Games!   Snodeca
Super Mario World... One of the greatest games I've ever played...
And hello there! Today I will be writing my first Game Review, and a review of a great game! :D
So yeah, this is the first time I will be writing this review. :P
So, here goes nothing!
Graphics: 9/10
One of my favorite parts are the graphics, I mean, look at it, it was a really good game with great graphics, and I love it, but for uh... Peach looks ugly in my opinion. So does Bowser... One of the 2 main characters could get some better graphics for this game! Or else it'd be 10...
Sound: 10/10
The sounds... THE best part of the game... I'm speechless... 10 out of 10! Yeah I'm bad at this aren't I?
Addictiveness: 9/10
Ah... This game is soo addictive! I can't stop playing, and seriously, it is one of the most addictive game ever!
Story: Same as always: 4/10
Yes. 4. Same thing over and over again. Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser, Mario goes through a whole adventure, and save the Princess. The end!
Depth: 9/10
Oh my gosh this game has 96 EXITS?!
You need to go through a whole Dinosaur Island, go through DONUTS, then in a Cave, then on such height, then in a forest, then through CHOCOLATE, and then in a Sunken Ship and then go to BOWSER?! And then find all the stars, and then go to a black hole of nothing, with very difficult levels?!?!?!?!?! WHAT?!
Why didn't he just go to Donut Plains, grab a Feather Power-Up and fly to the Sunken Ship to go to Bowser and save the Princess?! Bad things could of happen!
The point is, this game is so long which makes it more addictive. :D
And then... Hard to find exits...
Difficulty: 8/10
Finally, the Difficulty deserves a 8/10. Why? Well, 96 exits, hard to find secret exits, a lot of enemies, cool levels, one secret level in Forest of Illusions that makes you dizzy, maybe.... Oh my friggin' gosh this one definitely deserves a 8 out of 10!! :P
Overall: 9.3/10
And the final part, 9.3 points out of 10 for a incredible game! If you have never played this game... PLAY IT NOW!!!!!! You must play this game. Seriously. It's like one of the best games ever.
If I could play Super Mario Sunshine and complete it, I'd be reviewing that game right now. But nope, can't. Never even completed the game by myself.. :(
So yeah, that here, is the end. I hope you enjoyed reading this review, and I see you in my next review! :)
Next goal: Donkey Kong Country [SNES]
Bye!! :)
*James, vanishes.*

Super Mario World   strikerofthewind
WOO! ANOTHER REVIEW! This time it's on Super Mario World... Obviously... Anyway, Super Mario World is an awesome Mario game. The Mario series is known by basically everyone, everywhere. If there's someone who doesn't know the storyline of the Mario games, they most definitely have heard the name. This is one of the older games of the series, released originally on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and then later released on the Game Boy Advance. There's also a game demo of it in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This game is amazing in terms of everything! All new worlds, new castles and mini bosses, and even a new character, YOSHI! Now let's get on to the review!
In terms of graphics, it's amazing! The SNES was known for most of its game's good graphics. The movement is incredibly smooth, and I have yet to encounter a single glitch in the game.
The sound is great. Every Mario game has the same basic music in it, with a variation on it for every game. This case is no exception. The music is different for every world, every environment, from the plains of Dinosaur Island to the interior of Vanilla Mountain. From the Forest of Illusion to Bowser's Kingdom.
Addictiveness... Hmm... How should I put this... Um... I couldn't put my laptop down for a while? No, no... That's too laid back... Err... How about OMGEOHAUWHIUEHOHFEIFHE *flips table* DHAFHEHEHFEIO MUST... PLAY... GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That should sum it up a little for you.
Story... Same as other Mario games. Princess Peach, or, in this case, Princess Toadstool, gets kidnapped by Bowser, the Koopa King, and Mario must fight his way through world after world, getting past enemies, traps, deadly terrain, and other obstacles using his supply of power-ups, featuring his iconic Mushroom and Fire Flower. As well as introducing the Cape Feather. He must get to the end of a world, challenge and defeat the boss at the end of each castle, and proceed to the next. Sounds simple enough. It's the same as the other original games of the Mario series.
The amount of depth in this game is surprising for the typical Mario game. This game introduces several new features, as I mentioned earlier. There's a new power-up, the Cape Feather, which grants you the ability of flight, much like the leaf in Super Mario Bros. 3. It also introduces a few new enemies, such as those dragon dinosaur things in the first world. Same with some of the bosses. But with new enemies usually come new allies. Yoshi is introduced in here. The adorable lovable steed seen throughout the Nintendo franchise since then. This game also allows you to go back and replay levels, a feature the other Mario games didn't give you before this. As well as it allowing you to take Yoshi with you to other levels, a feature that some of the new Mario games don't have. Although he will chicken out of going into a Ghost House or one of the castles. There are other new features, too, but I'll let you play the game and find them for yourself.
As a Mario game, the game isn't really that difficult. Sure, here and there you're going to get stuck with either an enemy or something else, and there are a few levels that are essentially labyrinths. But that's about it, honestly.
Overall, this is a 9.8 in my opinion. The graphics, sound, addictiveness, and depth all get tens, the story gets an eight, and the difficulty is a six. Seeing as this is the first video game I ever played in my life, I had to write a review on it. Now come with me into a goomba-stompin' shell-shootin' Yoshi-ridin' plumber-jumpin' adventure unlike any other. LET'S A-GO!!!!

Best Game Ever!   katie.rae
This game has sooooo much to do in it. First you can just play through the game. But there are so many extras. Star World then when you complete star world (which is not easy when you get past the first part with the cool coloured Yoshi's) Then you get brown world! Which isn't really anything special except it changes the colours and some of the enemies look different. Hidden levels. Haunted houses! The dreaded water levels. And of course the puzzle which is Bowsers castle! I spent many hours playing this game. And then playing it over, and over, and over. And I still do to this day. Its one of those fun games that will always be fun. A true Classic!

Great system with great game? UNVELIEVABLE .   mariovssonic1
Super Mario. When you hear that, you think Super Mario Brothers. Me? I think Super Mario WORLD. In 1991, the Super Nintendo Entertainment
System was released with Super Mario World. It was a hit. Unlike Mega Man X or Castlevania 4, it isn't that hard.

With its 16-bit CPU, the SNES was a groundbreaking achievement. 16-bit games had good graphics. Super Mario had the greatest graphics.
When you two pictures of Big Mario, one 8-bit and one 16-bit, you would see that SNES Mario was better. During the Bowser castle, you see a
squirming Princess Peach, dress pink, eyes blue, blonde hair, TALLER, you probably thought that was amazing. And when Bowser went off
of the screen, and popped back in, WHOA.
The sound is amazing too. You don't hear sudden clicks and flat notes. You hear some kind of steel drum. When you find Yoshi, THERE IS PERCUSSION. In the GBA version, the percussion is MUSICAL. I actually thought that was pretty cool. The gameplay is pretty cool, too. I
think you can say something about the gameplay. So, that was my review. Pretty long, huh?

A game that's good for life.   sonicman120
Hey everybody it's sonicman120 again with his 4th review so let's get started! This is a game I own for Super Nintendo Entertainment System.  Believe it or not I have a lot of classic systems. Story One: Same as always, saving a princess named Toadstool(Peach)from King Koopa(Bowser). Graphics Seven: Pretty good Iv'e seen better like in Scooby-Doo for this system. But overall there good. Sound Seven: In my top three list of Mario for this system best Iv'e heard yet. If you played this game you should know about all the happy fast music and regular star etc.
Depth: For any body who has never played this be ready to use save state this game is really long. It has about ninety-eight levels in it.
Difficulty Eight: If you ask me if this game is hard my answer will always be yes.
Addictiveness Ten: Even though this game is challenging I play it all the time. Yes it's very adictive so it's one of the best game.
My overall is a 9.1. It's a good game because it has all the right things a good game needs. So for all you people who haven't played this game I recomend doing so.

Super Mario World: Bust or Playable?   Pokefan3125
Oh, Super Mario World, a real POP in gaming in the late 90's. Now, If you NEVER played Super Mario World, you have to play it now! Now, here's the question, is it playable? Or is it a total bust? Let's find out ourselves!
Graphics: 9
Now, if you were playing it now, you may think, "Well, this game is OK, but this is only 16-bit stuff, back here-" WAIT WAIT, hold the phone here! But this was made in the 90's! What do you expect? Gore and blood in Mario? For heck's sake NO! This is a kids game, so you don't expect creepy stuff in Mario, do you? I sure don't. Anyone knows the Rom Hack M A R I O? Yes, that's a creepy hack, but the game is supposed to be Creepy-free zone, So what do you expect? 64-bit in Super Mario World?
Sound: 9
Okay, the sound! Back in the original Mario like Super Mario Bros. 1, they made music with with different other sounds like for example, the famous World 1-1 music, "Do, do, do, do do do do, dum dum dum dum dum". (That's a HORRIBLE example, but anyway, I had to make one) So yeah, back then, the sound was BEAST (And catchy)!
Addictiveness: 8
The reason why I had to give it an 8, is that I just didn't get it. And the difficulty with these controls are too much for me, I just rage quit all the dang time! I only got to the first castle, then I quit the game for good. But for most people, its not that hard, so that's why I gave it an 8 (If this was a personal review, I would give a 5).
Story: 7
Well, the story was pretty self-explanatory. Bowser captures Peach, Mario goes on an epic adventure with castles blocking him, and Mario wins. Done, that's all I have to say.
Depth: 7
This game offers not that much. After you finish the game, there is no side quests to do, or bonus levels (Unless you didn't get to the SPECIAL WORLD yet) to complete. Plus, it only has 4 worlds. I will not play a game that cannot be continued after you finish it (That's why I LOVE Role-playing games)!
Difficulty: 6
First of all, for me, the difficulty is a solid 10. But for most gamer's, and other random people it's a 6. Since the variety of levels is short, the levels are pretty dang hard! I took out 3 lives on the first 2 levels. But for speed-runners and addicts to this game, this game is a breeze for you guys/girls.
Overall RATING: 8
I like the game and all, but still, the game isn't enough for higher than an 8. I'd rather tell you about Super Mario Bros. 3 Then tell you about this, but this would be my second option. Well, that all I have for you guys now! This is Pokefan3125, signing OUT.

Super Mario World: A Great Platformer   ChubbaAustin
Super Mario World: A Great Platformer                                                                                                          Hi everybody it's me again! Time for my review on Super Mario World (Like I wouldn't review this game)! Btw before we start I've decided to take some advice from supercool22 and actually organize my crappy mess. So, you've just picked up a Super Nintendo. You rush home with it, copy of Super Mario World in hand. You play for hours and hours, having a great time. But just how well does this classic hold up today? Well let's see, shall we?
                                                                                                Graphics
Alright, as usual I'm going to start with the graphics. This is the Super Nintendo's launch title, so it's designed to look impressive. But the graphics are so bright and colorful. There's so many colors, so many great animations, and Mario looks slick. Graphics gets a 9.
                                                                                                  Sound
The sound in this game is very catchy, like most Mario games. It just puts a whole lot of 'world' in Super Mario World. Sound gets a 10, like most Mario games I review.
                                                                                               Addictiveness
This game just never gets old. Mario games have always been like this. No matter how many times you beat the game, you'll come rushing back for fun and nostalgia. Addictiveness gets a 8.

                                                                                                       Story
Alright now for story. The story isn't much different from any other Mario game. Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool (AKA Peach) Take a trip to Dinosaur Land. As usual, Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser and Mario and Luigi have to go save her. Along the way, they also meet friendly dinosaurs called Yoshis. So, they head out to all the different castles to save the Yoshis and Peach. Story gets a 4.
                                                                                                        Depth
This game is just so big. You got all these different power-ups that give Mario different powers, like the Cape Feather. Using the Cape Feather, Mario can fly over the ENTIRE level. It's just so fun to use. There's also the Fire Flower, which allows Mario to shoot fireballs out of his bare hands to attack enemies. This game also has TONS of levels. Depth gets a 9.
                                                                                                        Difficulty
This game is HARD. Some levels are utterly impossible. Some jumps take accurate timing to pull off. Difficulty gets a 8.

                                                                                                        OVERALL
Overall, this game is timeless and very fun to play. Grab a friend and play this masterpiece together. Overall I give this game... a 9.8.

Best Mario game ever   nedflanders34
I love this game it's the greatest mario game so far ( that includes the wii titles) it has everything you want in a mario game except a varity powerups in the game.
Overall: 9.9
Graphics: 10
The Graphics prove just what the super nintendo can do. And the best part about it, it was a launch title.
Sound: 10
The music is the same theme with treaking, but the best part about it is it doesn't get repitiveve. I also love the credits theme it's just so catchy.
Addictiveness: 9
It's just so fun to play this game, it has exploring and everything you want in a mario game and thats why i play it so often.
Story: 6
It's still the same story the princess gets kiddnaped and Mario comes to save the day and rescue her, with the help of yoshi
Depth: 7
It has a lot of replay value because there are so many different paths to take and secrets as well. It also helps that you can play two player and just take turns.
Difficulty: 5
I have found some points where the game is a bit hard but it's a easy game to figure out how to play and the control is just perfect, I feel like i am always in control ( for better or for worse)
I give this game a 9.9 out of 10 and i am not afraid to do so.

Super Mario World   arsenal1991
Super Mario World was one of the best games on the SNES that i had come across but for me personally its a shame it could of offered a little more in some ways example some of the Super Mario World Hacks that have been made by other big fans now they were great games
this is my review of the classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System Super Mario World game
Graphics-9 the graphics of the SNES Mario was amazing there was always something new and each land/zone (which ever you prefer to call it) had its different style my personal favourite was certainly the underground sort of zone i loved the pipes and stuff the forest was my 2nd favourite for sure for different reasons as well but overall the graphics for this game are stunning
Sound 10- the sound was amazing along with the music too there was always some sort of sound that happens when you done something so you never stood there doing nothing and heard nothing
Addictiveness-7 unfortunately this game was never too addictive after i found the star road zone IF taken early on had a shortcut to Bowser meaning that the game could actually be over within 30mins which again for me personally i was forced not to rate this a 10
if you decide not to take the star road route early though most of the levels are easy for decent to world class players of Mario which can be addicting but a 7 was enough for me
Story-6 I was never a true lover of Mario but i loved the early games of Mario problem this game for me was always repetitive it never stopped i mean come on think about it? would Bowser really keep continue to nab the Princess over and over and over again till he eventually won and Mario was killed? no he would not
the story is nothing more for me than Bowser yet again nabs the Princess you are then in pursuit of him and must defeat him again through going many lands and levels eventually the final battle commences you defeat him and its a walk home with the princess not forgetting Yoshi either
Depth-4 The game does offer some challenges and there are also some levels that have 2 exits when coming on a level which is yellow it just means theres 1 exit and 1 way forward if flashing red theres 2 exits and its up to you to find that exit the forest zone as i call it does have a few levels that do require you to find the 2nd exit to get out of the forest which confuses Mario of getting out theres also a special area in star road which contains some levels for really really skilled Mario players and completing that area is supposed to open and unlock a kind of bobblehead Mario world which is pretty fun once unlocked makes it better than the actual game really
Difficulty-1 not much to say on this the only real difficult bit is the special area in star road but other than that any sort of age and skilled player can complete this game without actually losing all their Mario lives
Overall-6 this game unfortunately is quality but does not capture me unlike some Mario hacks that are much better to play and fun to play
and with that thats my sum up of the SNES Super Mario World game i hope you enjoy playing it

One of My Favorite Games   luigi25

Super Mario World was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in the summer of 1991. It was the fourth game in the series, and it was the first Mario game developed for this new home gaming console called the SNES. The SNES had 16-bit graphics and sound unlike what the games of the NES had. Nintendo could do more with the character of Mario on this new device such as giving him a dinosaur buddy named "Yoshi". Not only that, but this game takes place in a whole new setting called "Dinosaur Land". Super Mario World is probably my favorite childhood game of all time.

I first got to see it in on a television that was in Lowes' Hardware of all places sometime in 1992. Not long after this, I started watching the animated cartoons that came on T.V. afterschool. I wanted to play this game for a while until I finally got it for Christmas in 1993. That was the best Christmas ever! I got the Super Nintendo that included another game called "Super Mario All-Stars" that was for free with the system!! Super Mario World was sold separately, but I enjoyed playing both games just as much as the other one. I played them all the time throughout the early part of 1994, but probably enjoyed Super Mario World a little better. There were quite a lot of reasons for this.

Graphics 9/10: I feel like this game looked better than Super Mario Bros. 3. There is no doubt about this. Super Mario World does look dated in a way, but the sprites and backgrounds look better detailed and drawn out that those of its predecessor. SMW has more backgrounds with clouds, mountains, stars, etc. This is a 16-bit game, but it is an early 16-bit game. It doesn't look as good as some of the Sonic games on the Sega Genesis, but there is still a lot of color and detail put into the artwork. I read that Nintendo took advantage of the new hardware by bringing Yoshi into the game. This was something that was impossible with the limitations of the NES. All of these things make for a pretty nice looking game, but it was still only an early SNES title.

Music 9/10: Super Mario World has a nice soundtrack that I also consider better than SMB3. That game had a large song selection, and not all of them were that great. In SMW, most of the music sounds fantastic with exception to about 2 or 3 tracks. I liked how Nintendo included bongo drums whenever Mario entered a level with Yoshi. The game has kind of an island theme going on with it. Many of these songs were carried over into the cartoon. The soundtrack for SMW isn't perfect, but most of these songs sound very upbeat and catchy.

Gameplay 10/10: The goal of this game is the same as it was in SMB1 and SMB3. You had to get to the goal before you ran out of time, and along the way you had to avoid enemies, pits, etc. Although, this time Mario had help from a dinosaur buddy named Yoshi. Yoshi can eat a lot of the enemies along the way clearing the path for Mario to get through the levels. This time, Mario picks up items like the Mushroom, Fire Flower, and Cape. The Cape enabled Mario to fly through the level, and (like the Super Leaf in SMB3) it helped him slow down his landing so he could make difficult jumps a lot easier. There isn't as much of an item selection for SMW like there was for SMB3, but there are other things that make the gameplay just as good if not better than the previous NES Mario game.

Just like in Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World contains an overworld map that gives the player an idea of what each level is going to be like. Unlike in SMB3, each world map is part of a bigger picture, and that is Dinosaur Land. The maps of the game have different paths that can be taken that lead to other parts of Dinosaur Land. In order to access these secret paths, the player has to either find a key in certain levels or a hidden goal. For me, this is what made Super Mario World such a fun and addicting game to play. I loved trying to find all these hidden areas. What the game lacks in items, it makes up for in exploration.

The addition of Yoshi also added to the gameplay experience. Mario can bring him into levels, and if he ate certain color of Koopas, he can: breathe fire, make earthquakes, and even fly. In a way, Yoshi gave Mario certain abilities he wouldn't normally have. Super Mario World is a pretty easy game to play as well. Extra lives are very plentiful, and the game included save messages that would pop up after finishing: Ghost Houses, Fortress, Switch Palaces, Castles, and several other stages. The regular game is pretty simple, but Nintendo added more optional challenge that was worth going after later. This included two extra areas named: Star World and Special World.

You also have quite a few level themes as well, but maybe not quite as many that were in SMB3. Still you get: underwater levels, underground areas, overworlds, ice stages, and a new night-time theme with a beautiful starry background. Really, I feel like SMW has better gameplay and design than the previous SMB3 game. It includes more extra content that is completely optional, and the game is quite a bit easier also. The optional content is quite difficult, but after a while it becomes pretty easy as well. Super Mario World is a game that comes full circle for me, and it is my favorite out of the whole series as far as its mechanics and level design that encourages exploration. You want to see what all this game has to offer.

Story 9/10: Super Mario World doesn't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom. It takes place in Dinosaur Land. Mario, Luigi, and the Princess decide to go on a vacation, and that's how they end up here. While Mario and Luigi go on a walk, they come back and find the Princess missing. As they are looking for her, they stumble upon an egg, it hatches, and out pops a dinosaur named Yoshi. It appears his friends have been kidnapped by giant turtles. The Mario Bros. figure out that Bowser has taken Princess Toadstool once again.

The Koopas have invaded Dinosaur Land, and it is up to Mario and Luigi to track down King Koopa, and along the way they discover his Koopa kids have kidnapped Yoshi's friends as well. Bowser has built his own castle in a Valley at the center of Dinosaur Land, and has also built a Clown Car that he flies around in. In a way, this plot reminds me a lot of Super Mario Bros. 3. Except this time, it takes place in a new setting called Dinosaur Land. I feel like this is the game's weakest point. There isn't as much creativity put into the story, but it does takes place in a different kingdom. I'm kind of mixed on this area of SMW. The change of scenery is cool, but the plot is just like SMB3.

Content 10/10: Super Mario World includes a total of 9 areas: Yoshi's Island, Donut Plains, the Vanilla Dome, Cookie Mountain, the Forest of Illusion, Chocolate Island, the Valley of Bowser, and the secret areas of Star World and Special World. These worlds consist of stages that branch off into other parts of the game. Although, these secret areas are optional, but they give this game more depth and offer more of an incentive to explore the levels. SMW has quite a lot of content that will keep experienced players busy for at least 3 hours if not more. The stages are pretty short, but the game has a lot of them. This game does not disappoint and offers a lot of extras to players who have already beaten it.

Difficulty 3/10: Super Mario World did not take me very long to beat when I was a kid. The only part I had trouble on was the final battle with Bowser. I did not know how to beat him until I found an article about it on the back of a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese box. Once I was able to complete this part, I explored the secret exits, Star World, and Special World. Even those areas weren't all the difficult to me, but they were considerably harder than the regular game. However, the Cape was a big help. Mario can get through a lot of the harder levels that have rotating platforms because of how it slows your landings.

Yoshi even gives Mario an extra hit, and not to mention how easy it is to earn extra lives. This gives you more than one chance to get through the levels. Save messages come up after finishing castles and other harder levels. With all of this, I found SMW to be a lot easier than any of the other Mario games I had played before except for maybe Super Mario Land 2. The levels were easy, and there seemed to be more emphasis put on exploration instead of difficulty. I liked this, and it made for a pretty relaxing experience.

Overall 9.4/10: I consider Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. 3 to be great classic video games from my childhood. Super Mario World would probably win out because of the improved graphics and soundtrack. There isn't as much creativity put into the characters or the storyline this time. It was like that in the SMW cartoons as well with everything just carrying over from the previous Mario game. I didn't enjoy that cartoon as much as I did the SMB Super Show or the SMB3 cartoon. The gameplay and design was just as good, and maybe even a little better because it had more content to explore.

The sad thing about Super Mario World was that this was the last video game I was all that serious about as a kid. I spent so much time wanting to play it, and after I did, I didn't care about playing much else. There were two other games I played later on, and that was it. Sadly, this game marked the beginning of the end of an era that wouldn't be revived until 20 years later when I discovered Vizzed.

My first Review   miystery
This is my first review so just bare with me.
Super Mario World. A game that most of you would have heard of. If not, then play it. I'd recommend it out of any other SNES game available. The game excelled in most areas compared to most games for it's time. What with the Nintendo's SNES rivaling with Sega's Genesis.
Graphics: The graphics were very colourful and made the game seem, magical almost. I know that's a weird way to put it, but that's what I felt when I was a kid. Even in the dark world that Bowser resides in, the game still retains that happy look to it. This game's graphics could be the best graphics on a non-Mode 7 game.
Sound: Back in these days, sounds might have been the most important to make, purely because you'd be hearing them the most. I remember the sounds of the Koopa Troopers popping out of their shells when I jumped on them. That was what made childhood fun.
Addictiveness: 96 exits, hidden power-ups, secret 1-ups and the very well-hidden moons. What more replay value would you want? There's so much content here you'd have hours of content to enjoy.
Story: Of course this is rated low. It's Mario, what were you expecting? Bowser kidnaps Princess Toadstool again. Only difference, Mario gets help from an old friend. Even though, I don't think he remembered what they went through years ago. Hmm, do I smell a sequel?
Depth: Just like in Addictiveness, this game has a lot of content. The world is wide, expansive and well-thought out. There's a big World Map, and little Mini-maps inside the World Map. There are also, 2 secret worlds! And finishing the second secret world will reward you with... Well, you'll find out eventually. There are also various speed-runs, for either finishing the game quickly or finishing the game while getting all the exits. This game is widely known for many things. Mostly good ones. Man, this game is popular!
Difficulty: This game, for most, isn't too hard. Although, I think of myself as a good gamer, I still get stuck at the Donut Bridges. I like how there is some strategy for most of the bosses. You can't just keep jumping on them randomly and winning. Mario games have evolved from that. Even Bowser is easy, to say the least. He has strategy for beating him, so that's cool, I guess.
Overall: This game has inspired so much. In me and many others. To say that this could be one of the best Mario games, is an understatement. This game is legendary. In a gaming magazine I have (possibly Nintendo Power) it labels Super Mario World as the best SNES game ever made. Even Nintendo holds this game in high regards. This game is also one of the most hacked games as well, as far as I can tell. Anyway, that's my review for Super Mario World, done and dusted. Hmm, I wonder what I should review next? Sonic? Zelda? Metroid? I guess I'll find out at some point, but if anyone has any suggestions, that would be wonderful.

Ahh, super Mario world. The classic Mario game that nobody can get enough of. Lets start with the review of this awesome game.
Sound: 10.  The sound in this game is very catchy and can leave you humming it so many times, it becomes stuck into your head, but in a good way. That satisfying music of beating a stage, I even tap along with it!
Addictiveness: 10. The addictiveness in this game is way over the top. Your goal isn't to just to get to the end and win. There are many ways to play weather it is finding secret levels, or just going back to have some more fun, I cant get enough of this!
Depth: 10. The game is filled to the brim with secrets and levels. I'll just tell you, you wont end up beating the game in 2 hours, oh no, it will take much longer than that.
Difficulty: 5. Now this is just my opinion, I think the game is just balanced right depending on what you plan to do if you plan to find every little thing, I think it might be a little hard, but you have to strike your own level.
Graphics: 10: That classic Mario was very detailed for the early counsels back then, nobody will forget that sprite, and I can tell you that.
Overall: 10. What else to expect? A side scrolling adventure mode with many worlds and everything that we love about Mario. A very well made game.

Super-Mario SNES tell me what you think   naruto uzimaki
You might be wondering why 9.6 will it a very detailed reason which I shall share with you.
so we all know that Mario is a basic game you start off with a map that you have to unlock but then when you go in to the circle on the map it turns into a platform and all you have is up down left and right but mainly left to right so the graphics get that 8 cause its not great graphics but they are still good cause it has a lot of detail for a platform game also notice when he turn he has that 3-D effect its not the greatest but again its also a platform game and not a lot of platform games have that kind of detail in any of those games they are more like 2-D which makes Mario really good on graphics
For sound its just like the legend of Zelda ocarina of time (which is in another post of mine) that the music in the game is really catchy and is hard to get out of your head but at the same time each level has its very own sound for it so your not always listening to the same one all the time except for the map sound cause its just there for a just a little bit cause you going from one level to the next .
addictiveness is a 10 cause you could play this game and not relies what time it is till its to late and it makes what to play more and the more you die the more time it will take up and even if you stop playing it few days later you be right back at it playing it again so I think that this game deserve this rating cause you just don't want to stop playing it and it makes you come back for more.
the story got a 9 because i felt that the story was quiet long and the map was pretty big you got to do so much in that game that i may actually think that it is the longest game that Nintendo has ever made has to be will close to like 150 levels in that game if not more but i guess thats what makes this game so great and that what they need to do is make the games now long they what they make them cause honestly the games now you can beat within a day if you know what your doing i think it just gets boring after awhile .
Will there wasn't that much depth but with the story  being as long as it was thats what made the depth like yeah you get to fly and do other which was cool but it wasn't what gave the game depth it was the story and how big the map was for this game and it must ave been one of the biggest map Nintendo made as well ,
now about the difficulty it was fairly hard and i don't just mean it for one level i mean all of the ones past the first castle after that good luck getting far this game was one of the hardest game i have ever play but not taking anything away from this game cause this game for the most part was pretty good and it being as difficult as it is, is what makes it a good game because there is not better then a hard game cause it takes you long to complete and to complete will.

Epic And Classic At The Same Time   TheGameLegend
UNBELIEVABLE
To create a Mario game, its easy. But to create a classic, unreal, superb Mario game, that's almost impossible.
O.K. First I will start off with the story.
Like always Bowser kidnaps the princess... Again. So its your/Mario's job to save the princess all over again.
And it the levels go in a pattern. Just like most of the Mario games it starts with a grassland area and then it develops into and water or sandy/rocky area and the final area which is the lava volcano area. It's a bit repetitive but I got to admit it was old but gold!
The Graphics and Sound now.
Well the graphics of the game was better than the rest of the Mario retro games. (except for the 3 D /64 games) And the quality of the superpowers such as the super balls (not fireballs) and also the leaf made the game extremely addictive. Also the use of said superpowers makes the game more fun and attractive. Now the sound of the game suits each and every world. Such as the water worlds have a nice, slow tune while the grasslands have a more fun and active tune also the lava lands have more of a "ATTACK" and deep tunes.
The difficulty wasn't so hard. But sometimes it could get a bit frustrating at completing levels, I know it. But what's the problem with a challenge. Everybody loves to be challenged at something they're good at.
The game was really, addictive.
Its like the first time your playing a game that you really wanted (for me when I first got Pokémon I could not keep my hands off my game boy.)! Really when I started this game I played it for 2 hours straight.
To Sum It Up!
Awesome game.
Really addictive.
Great quality and sound F.X.
And a perfect game for platform gamers or Mario lovers.

Mario at its Best   meowmeow222
This is an absolutely beautiful game. I haven't completed it yet. But here's a short biography on how I think of it: This game is absolutely amazing. It's long, it's fun, it's difficult, it's beautiful. I can say that I suck at plat formers, but this fits my level of gaming. Honestly, it's so fun. I just won't stop until I beat every stage! I shall describe each part of my rating in more depth below.
Graphics: 10. Super Nintendo Entertainment System graphics at their best, what can I say?? I mean, they're gorgeous. For 16 bit, this is absolutely top-notch. The blocks are beautiful. The animations are really, well made. I mean, for SNES average, this (in my opinion) demolishes it.
Sound: 10. I love, the soundtrack this game has to offer. It's beautiful. It's upbeat, happy, and quite fits where you are. The Ghost house music is creepy (but not too creepy, perfect for decently young children), the outside music is happy and upbeat, the cave music is beautiful. But the sound I like the most is the castle theme. It has quite a catchy tune that I could listen to for hours upon hours. Altogether, the soundtrack is extremely well done. Great job, Nintendo.
Addictiveness: 10. I like plat formers a lot, so this game absolutely is addictive. I want to play it to the very end. And, I mean, every last exit of every last level end. It's just so addictive. I want to beat it over and over. It's super addictive. Once again, great job Nintendo.
Story: 10. So classic. Princess being captured by evil being is just so classic, and this enhances it. I honestly can't say too much on it.
Depth: 9. So long, so fun, so much to explore. It's actually really, long though. But not way-over-the-top-and-getting-lazy-later-on long, because all of the stages have equal amount of effort put into them. It's really a great amount of depth where I'm exited to see what's next.
Difficulty: 7. In my short biography, I explained that it was the level of difficulty I enjoy. And it definitely is. It's not too easy nor extremely hard. Not much more to say on this part.
Overall: 9.7.. It's fun, it's addicting, it's long, it's beautiful, it sounds great. Overall, this game is extraordinary. It is just awesome. I'd go on and on talking about this game.. Oh my god. There's so much right and no wrong in this game. I loved it. It was amazing. No, beyond amazing. It was, like said earlier, extraordinary.

The best of the best?   uiopop
Super Mario World is the virtually undisputed best game in the Mario franchise. Hell, even the worst of Trolls agree on it being the best of the best! What makes it so great? Lets find out!
The graphics are pure eye candy, so much so that people compare the games graphics with modern day games like Sky rim. The graphics are generally considered the best on the Super Nintendo, and for good reason, they perfectly illustrate the games atmosphere and premise
and helps to keep the player highly immersed in the game.
The Soundtrack is on of the best on the Super Nintendo, and I am not talking about just the songs, I'm taking about the jingles, the sound effects, everything! The Soundtracks nature and tone help it to perfectly mix with the Graphics and Game play to create an ideal gaming experience in terms of sound in this case.
The game is also VERY addicting, imagine a combination of the first 3 Mario Games on CRACK, because that is what this game is in terms of addictiveness. There are Extra items to collect, multiple passage ways, levels to traverse and SO much more that make you want to play this game over and over to get 100%
In terms of Story, There really is not much to say, its your typical '' Go save the princess storyline that the Mario series has had since the beginning. Although it is interesting to note the game brings back the Coop Kids from Mario 3.
Over all, Super Mario World is an instant classic that will hold up until the end of time. Its high addictiveness, flawless game play, gorgeous Graphics and much more make this a near perfect game worthy of a high rating.

Classic Memories   speck91
This game brings back so many memories.  There are so many secrets and hidden levels in this game that are easy to miss.  I play it to win obviously, but I make it a personal challenge to play every level (hidden or otherwise).
Yoshi is your friend in this game.  When you get to star road, it's fun to start using the different colored Yoshi's in the normal levels because of their special skills.  Sometimes it's worth it to go and play older levels once you uncover new colored boxes because you'll be able to access new areas on the level.
This game is also fun to play with a partner.  You can work your way through the game but you can also have a side competition going on with who has the highest score.

Super Mario World Review   LukeHayesII
For me, this is not like the original NEW Mario games, but I think the ones on the game boy console (GB) / (GBC) Or if they have made a Mario game on Game Boy Advanced (GBA), are more fun, I don't like the way you can control Yoshi, all he does is just eat, also I think Yoshi can't jump when he has eaten an enemy. The graphics aren't that great, the maps graphics are terrible for me, it's not very addictive because the story is mainly like exactly all of the games that was made by Nintendo and the people who made Mario, but unlike Luigi and other characters, this game is hard, considering it again is like most Mario games, because you're using a computer, not a hand held console.

A great piece of gaming   ClassicSable-eye
Yes it's a Mario game and you probably know a bit of the story already. Yes the princess has been captured but you have to remember when this game was made, back then it was still fresh. Back then it was yay a Mario game, now it's how bad is the security over there in the mushroom kingdom.
This game really got me and many other people addicted because of the sheer amount of levels, most of which are fully re-playable after beaten, and the catchy tune played through out.
For you compleationists out there you might have a hard time getting everything you want out of this game (collectables mainly)but  you will have a great time trying to (and so will everyone else).
Oh yeah, did I mention it has yoshi's (the Japanese for "go", yeah strange) so go have fun playing Mario.

Welcome, to the land of Dinosaur Land where you can jump around as the famous Mario and fight many enemies! When you first play this game you see a note that basically explains the whole plot, and you start your story. Play through this awesome game and save your helpless Princess Toadstool (a.k.a. Peach) from the evil Koopa King Bowser!
With the graphics at a whopping 8 this beautiful scenery is better than some Super Nintendo games. With all the different level type things such as the plains and the lake-like levels, you can't get enough! Sound? another whopping 10! You can't get the music out of your head like almost all of the plain levels and caves. These categories were put together due to the fact they kind of mix well together, just think great graphics but bad sound would you play that game?
Anyways onto the next categories of addictiveness, story, and depth! With depth and addictiveness at 10/10 you can't get enough of this game! When i was a kid and didn't have a Wii I almost always played this game, and I was so happy when beat a difficult level.Playing it is amazing except for story so let's go to that! The story is literally like a a book due to the fact that after every castle a little narration will pop up.
Overall this game is not difficult but not easy either. It is also, like Super Metroid, one of the greatest Super Nintendo game of all time. The question now is will you play this game?..

I am so going to die for this.   Opti101
I am just going to start this off simply. I don't like this game.  You heard me. I don't like it. I, Opti do NOT like Super Mario World on the SNES. I found it boring and not much to see. I mean, What can I say? Its just a platformer and a pretty clunky one if that. Lets get straight to the overview as I tell you why.
GRAPHICS
I don't know why this game is said to have good graphics for SNES. They lack detail and sometimes even color. If you don't believe me just compare it to super metroid. Anyway I found that the graphics were too simplistic and were really lacking compared to titles that came out around the same time.
SOUND
I found it annoying. The sound effects sound thrown together and are really annoying sometimes. The music is generic and boring. The only reason a lot of people like it is because of nostalgia. Annoying and boring.
ADDICTIVENESS
Nothing really to come back too.
STORY
Stay back fanboys, I am about to go into a full blown mario rant. Okay, Look this would be... what? the 4th time they used the same generic story line? And they are still using it today? FOR GODS SAKE. Look, if you are going to make a new game.. Make a different story line mkay?
DEPTH
Not much to do.
DIFFICULTY
Every single time you die in this game you thing "Well that was cheap." because the game littered with confusing and irritating level designs. Its terrible. This is the main problem with the game. Its really cheap and full of beginners traps. (Bullet bill in first level)
CONCLUSION
So now you have learnt something. It is possible for someone to not like Super Mario World. Shoot me. However there were some things I liked about the game. Such as the power-ups. They were all interesting ideas and generally fun too use. Also the bosses were nice. But that's really it.

Super Mario World   Cjjjj
Super Mario world, Its an SNES classic. What is there to say that hasn't been said. Well Super Mario world is like the other Mario games. The princess has been captured and Mario has to go save her. I give the graphics of this game a 9, because I love them but there not perfect. I love all the colors and how bright everything is. The whole game just looks good. I give the sound a 10. I loved the music of this game. Not only was the music good but the sound effects where nice too. Everything from jumping to swimming sounded nice to me. I give this game's addictiveness an 8. Because the game is addictive and fun. But I don't play it every day. But the game is still great and still fun to replay to this day.The story I give a 7. Because it is the same old Super Mario story we have all grown to love. I give the depth a 7 also. Because in general Mario games are not exactly deep and emotional. I find this game to be hard. But still fair so I give it an 8. The game gets hard as it goes along just as any good game should do. The forest of illusion was very hard for me but I got through it and was glad when I did. So overall I give Super Mario World a Perfect 10 out of ten. I love everything about this game. Also it was the first game I ever played so I have some attachment to it. I hope you enjoyed this review.

one of he best platformers ever.   guitargod4900
the overall is good, though the graphics somewhat lack compared to some of the more advanced SNES games, it far surpasses most of its time. The sound i am unsure uf, as i play muted, but from what i remember as a child it was good, the sound changing for the switch activation was spot-on. Its addictivity was incredible, i remember one time skipping all my meals for a day so i could play more. The story is a cliche', but given its popularity with its specific storyline, i think its good, seeing that any other sort of thing would be far to different from the mario we know and love. Its difficulty is impressive, one of the most difficult platforming games ever if you ask me. overall i give it a 9.9, short only due to its cliche' story.

Super Mario World Review   Nutburger
This is the first game I ever played for the Super NES, and the moment I turned it on I new I was in for an adventure.
The music is amazing, although most of it is just remixed versions of the same song.
The graphics are decent by Super NES standards, but it's a launch title so it's not expected to have graphics as good as later releases in the console's life span.
The story is the same as any other Mario game, but graphics, music, and story, doesn't matter if the game isn't fun, and this game is really fun. In fact it's probably the finest Mario game I've ever played, and I've played the Super Mario Galaxy games! The levels are just so well designed, and it's not too challenging, so you're constantly making progress. It's just so fun.

Super Mario World the Dealeo   Nincompoco
Hi it's me Mecha Leo from Youtube here to do my first ever review on a game:D. I'll start off with an old classic, super Mario world. This game is revered as one of the best Mario games ever made, and i see how they could think that :P. This game has hours of game play and a high amount of replayability. You could know a level front to back and still play it 4 times and have a good time. Mario games also have a unique way of offering different challenges and game play mechanics without changing the whole view of the game. One level could be a gauntlet of enemies, another underwater, getting past traps, or platforming over cliffs on moving platforms. You can also change the layout of certain levels with special switches to get collectables, a main replay factor in the game. Getting the collectables gets harder quicker than the levels themselves. Actually I had to watch other people play the whole game because i suck at Mario games, sooooooooooo yeah won't be doing an lp on new super mario bros. for a long time. Now the story isn't as good. Some games like the paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series have good story lines, but the others... big whoop a turtle captured peach. Now a story line can make up the game, but this one is so good who NEEDS a friggin' story line amiright? *crickets* yeah who cares-_-. Now some features that make this game unique are the abundance of yoshi's, the green dinosaur frogs of course. In fact the tiny storyline that there IS includes his friends being captured by the koopalings and being trapped in eggs. Later in the game you may find baby yoshi's that need to eat before they become full grown and able to help out. There are many new enemies like cape koopas and the ever so annoying, anger inducing, freaking koopa strikers. Mario himself can now hold onto an item for later and has the newly introduced ability spin jump to bounce of deadly enemies (move faster pokey!) or break through blocks on the ground. Now like I said I can't get through a lot of the game, but people like Proton Jon seem pretty good, so i guess i just suck... I'll give it a 5 I guess, cause maybe... just maybe... I'm not alone... i hope... whatever. The graphics look pretty amazing compared to previous games, then again it's on the SUPER Nintendo amiright? *crickets* OK whatever -_-". The sound is very good too, nothing complicated but still has the undeniable charm of a Mario game. In fact this game influenced many other games afterward. Mario is shorter than Luigi now a days instead of the same height, there's a downgraded version of the spin jump in recent new super Mario bros. games, and yoshi has become a star among gamers. I have to admit, the guys back at Nintendo had a good vibe going on when they decided to make the next game for Mario. It just shows sometimes the better games were in the past, not now or maybe in the future. Thanks for reading, there are more reviews to come, cya! XD

Super Mario World-Simply Incredible   thetanman
Before playing this game, I had finished all of the New Super Mario Games. I had learned much about them on the Mario Wikipedia. Reading about them made me realize that they contained many game play elements that originated in the older Super Mario Games: Original, 3, and World. I played the original and 3, and they were pretty amazing. The were brilliant games for the time period in which they were released, and they set the standard for the modern Mario games. After completing these, I started Super Mario World. And, my gosh, am I so happy I did so.
Super Mario World takes may of the elements from Mario Bros 1 and 3, improves upon them, and adds an incredible amount of originality as well. First of all, it doesn't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom; it takes place in Dinosaur Land. This helps to introduce one of the most beloved dinosaurs ever: Yoshi! Being able to ride Yoshi is a very satisfying experience, and was a fresh element of the Mario Series.
The worlds are quite marvelous as well. They are much better than the world maps of Super Mario Bros 3. Plus, many of the worlds are based on something I enjoy a lot: food! From Vanilla Dome to Chocolate Island, the world themes make them even more addicting to play.
Oh, the soundtrack of this game...so magnificent! The over world theme is one of my favorites in the whole Mario series, in fact, I can play it on the piano and xylophone! The boss themes, the title screen, the underground theme, the athletic theme-all fantastic.
I haven't even started to talk about the gameplay itself-which shows how enjoyable this game is. There are a total of 96 exits to find, with approximately 75 levels (sorry, I forgot exactly how many levels). This proves that the game has a lot to offer. There are a total of 9 world-the first 7 main ones, star road, and special world. All are a joy to explore.
The levels themselves are made with such care. They all offer something unique to offer. There are the traditional overworld-type levels, underwater, underground, and more! As you play the game, you will constantly get a variety of levels, so you don't ever feel like you are constantly doing the same thing.
Of course, throughout the levels, there are powerups. Some return, and there is a new one as well. The returning ones include the super mushroom, fire flower, and invincibility star. The new item introduced is the cape feather, similar to the tanooki suit from Super Mario Bros 3. The cape feather allows you to float down to the ground, and if you run for a long enough time, you can soar into the air. If you are able to control it correctly, you can stay in the air, and fly for a long time.
There are additional elements incorporated in the game as well-too many to name. Super Mario World is incredible!

SMB World review   poopywyatt
This is a wonderful game that brings back many nostalgic
memories from my childhood. Upon replaying this game, I have found this game to
have aged very well and I hope this game has a chance to find it's way into the
hands of the younger generations.
I want to now go into greater details on my scoring. Overall: I rated a '9'
because it is a wonderful game. This is coming from a guy who is not the
biggest fan of side-scrollers. However, with that being said, I still love this
game. The graphics do what they are supposed to do. They are bright and
colorful, they represent what they are supposed to represent. The graphics are classic and have aged very well in my opinion. The sound effects are classic and have been the inspiration for future games and Internet videos and homemade games/hacks. The music has a nice composition and has become staples in future Mario games. The music is catchy and you may find yourself humming certain tunes after long play throughs . I have a few things to say about the addictiveness of the game. This game has the potential to last less than 10 minutes if you know what you are doing from beginning to end; or it may last  a few hours depending on if you use online resources like gamefaqs or You tube. This game has a percentage (I think) for level completion. Many levels have 1 normal exit as well as a secret exit. To complete this game you will have to find all the levels and paths that make up the over world map. Some people may want to compete this challenge. I am unsure if there is an end game bonus for this completion. But this adds to the depth and difficulty.
I rated the story as a '3,' not because it's a bad game, but it is a typical Mario game. It is the same story we are all used to. I find it almost impossible to spoil the story of this game. Princess gets kidnapped, Mario and Luigi and now Yoshi all jump in to save the day. King Koopa has his Koopalings. However I find that there are a few differences between them and I cannot distinguish them by visuals, except from the text of the game. There IS actual text in the game, but is unnecessary. The game can be played with out reading any of the text boxes.
This game is not the deepest game. Do not judge this a good thing or a bad thing. Some movies are fine being shallow and entertaining, like the movie Penguins of Madagascar. This particular movie is shallow and entertaining as can be, and I like it like that. Super Mario World is not a 'deep' game. This is like the Pixar; or Dora of video games. It is simple and entertaining. The depth of this game comes from brilliant platforming  and trying to find the secrets of the game. This game, like many other Mario games, is like Chinese checkers: easy to learn, difficult to master.
As stated above, this game is easy to learn, but only somewhat difficult to master. This is not the most difficult game, but this game is not suppose to have unmerciful, grueling difficulty like certain ROM hacks of Super Mario games. I found some of the areas on the over world were more difficult than the final dungeon or final area. This is a game even I could beat this game as a youth and now as an adult.
Overall I highly recommend this game to ANYONE of this generation. It is a retro game, so playing this game is getting back to your roots as a gamer. You get to see the birth of Yoshi, as this is Yoshi's first game.

Super Mario World: the Successful Transition to the Next Level   janus

Not even two years after Super Mario Bros 3, which had set the bar pretty high for platform games, Nintendo raised it even more with Mario’s first grand adventure on the Super Nintendo: Super Mario World. The end result was quite spectacular for the time.

Graphics: 9/10

It’s absolutely incredible how going to a system with more memory can do to graphics.

They are incredibly beautiful for such an early SNES game (1991) and are such an improvement from Mario 3. For starters, Mario himself is better-drawn even in his small form (Mario 3 looked pixelated). His movements are much more fluid and his colors are gayer (as in brighter) – small issue: Luigi is a carbon copy rather than being taller and slimmer. When he swirls with his cape on, his front and back sides are finely drawn; you can even see his back pockets and the buttons from his suspenders! Yoshi is also nicely drawn and come in four different colors: green (the default one; should you hit a block while riding him, you get a one-up!), blue (that flies by swallowing any shells), red (that spews fire with whichever shell, transforming enemies into coins) and yellow (that creates dust clouds knocking enemies over). You usually need to feed the babies 5 enemies or a power-up in order to ride them.

Speaking of swirling, you can do more than one turn, unlike Raccoon Mario. The cape follows your movement and moves quicker when you run. Speaking of which, the acceleration to fly seems shorter than in Mario 3 and is also more durable. As long as you do the proper moves, you can basically fly for the whole level.

Levels are also much bigger than Mario 3. The background now boasts very fine drawings that reflect the level: Underground levels have shiny cave rocks, levels in the Forest of Illusions are full of trees and leaves, underwater levels have “fish houses” with smoking chimneys (!), aerial levels (like in the Twin Bridges area) have clouds and castles have eerie lights. The front of the levels is also nicely done, with “platforms” having more details on them (sometimes even grass on top) – they are sometimes inclined too – and accessories that can make you walk on walls! Special mention to Chocolate Island, whose fortress has boiling chocolate that is as hot as lava and where everything IS made out of chocolate. And should you be able to finish the Special World, EVERYTHING gets changed; find out what it is ;). Other note: there is only one level with snow and it’s realistically slippery.

Furthermore, the enemies you face are also much better-drawn AND diversified. Turtles walk on their hind legs and come in many different colors (all affecting how Yoshi reacted when he swallows them). They are very-well drawn; they sometimes come without their shells and actually fly towards you! And when you jump on them, they come out of the shell and simply start walking back towards it.

Some levels have HUGE cannon balls that have a very evil grim on them. There are also several football players, each with different abilities to make your life miserable. They may dig dirt or thrown footballs at you, run towards you or jump very high by clapping their hands. Ghosts come in more diversified expressions (and slower flight speeds) than Mario 3; there’s even a Big Boo who will be hard to avoid because of his sheer size.

Finally, the bosses are also well-drawn and diversified. Although their attacks only come in four different forms, it’s still an improvement from Mario 3. They are much bigger and they don’t necessarily die from jumping on their heads. However, the rhinos from the (usually) optional fortresses are 100 percent the same and they seem to be of similar difficulty – the floor doesn’t seem to recede quicker in Bowser Valley than in the Twin Bridges area.

Music: 8/10

Although I preferred the Mario 3 music, Mario World still has a very decent soundtrack.

There is a wider variety of tracks than Mario 3 (although fortresses and castles (and also the boss music) sound the same) – there are even distinctive tracks for bonuses in levels and Switch Palaces. The variety increases if you consider the “Yoshi drum” as being a new track in itself – there is a drum beat added to any tracks where you ride Yoshi (the underground drum is the best one). There are also five tracks for the various parts of the world you explore, although the “overworld” one is dominant overall.

Sound effects are a great improvement from Mario 3. His jumping sounds less annoying, his swirling sounds even better and his bouncing sounds very realistic. Among other good sounds effects, let’s mention a neat distinction regular and Yoshi coins (the latter giving you a life if you find all five of them in each level), Yoshi’s sounds (swallow and spit) are well-done (and his flying sound REALLY sounds like he’s flapping his small wings) and the “wrong” sound (when you can’t get a single life in a bonus round) sounds like a biiiiig mistake. Finally, underground sound effects have a nice echo to them.

Addictiveness: 9/10

Even though I’m not a fan of platform games, Mario World was one of the most addictive ones I’ve played.

First of all, the difficulty level is very reasonable (see below). Unlike Mario 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, completing all 96 levels is very doable.

Second, the music/graph combination is always a big plus for me. The regular level theme sounds very joyful (the underwater theme is a relaxing remix of it) and the “aerial” theme sounds racier than the one in Mario 3. The Ghost Houses really sound haunted and the castles sounds dramatic.

Finally, there is so much to explore in each level that I always wanted to come back to get all the Yoshi coins or try going down the pipe I forgot about (there are more secrets than Mario 3).

Depth: 9/10

This game is HUGE. Just getting through the regular route to get to Bowser Valley will keep you quite busy. Many of them have secret passages/bonus rounds where you can get coins, power ups or lives.

But many of those levels can lead to other levels (the red dot is the best indicator of a level with more than one exit). These in turn lead to other levels that often have shortcuts – you could actually go straight to Bowser’s Castle by completing only 12 levels! But hey, gamers like you would prefer a larger challenge, right?

Along with regular secret levels bringing you shortcuts or easier levels thanks to the Switch Palaces (the newly created blocks covers gaps and can sometimes isolate enemies; yellow ones give you mushrooms and green ones give you feathers), there is also the Star Road, the increasingly difficult secret world where you will need to use your brain to get through – you must find the secret passage for ALL of them (except Star World 5) in order to move to the next bonus. And if you’re patient enough, you will also gain access to the Special World, a very challenging series of zones that come with a special surprise at the end.

Difficulty: 5/10

For a platform game, I thought it was rather easy. When you ride Yoshi, you are nearly invincible to enemy contact except when you hit spikes or foes under water. His swallowing abilities can definitely makes your journey easier especially when he can fly. However he can’t swallow turtle shells for a while, which makes it a good weapon, be it the shell itself or fireballs is the shell is red (it turns most enemies to coins).

In addition, you can have a “reserve object”. For example, once you eat your mushroom, getting another one will put it in a box above your head. Should you be hit by an enemy it will drop so you can grow again. You can also have a reserve feather/flower if ever you have one of those powerups. Once you find the “top secret area” (somewhere on the Donut Plain), it’s of no problem.

Even the bosses aren’t that hard. Once you figure out their strategy, you can easily dispose of them. And in the last of his three stages Bowser is relatively easy if you can avoid his, er, flying machine.

There are challenges, however. The Ghost Houses only have one path that leads you to the exit and it’s usually not an obvious one. You will have to use your brain in order to get through and avoid enemies (those “soap bubbles” in Vanilla Ghost House can be a pain). Some even have secret exits, as if finding the regular one wasn’t challenging enough.

The Special World can also look like an impossible challenge. I remember me and my cousins trying to desperately trying to get over the second level of the world. I finally came up with a solution but it took months to come up with it! Fortunately, you can save your quest after every second level.

Finally, some individual levels will surely frustrate you like the auto-scrolling ones (like Donut Plain 2), where getting caught by the screen or hit by a shell that bounces back at you will kill you. Or Soda Lake, with its endless supply of torpedoes barely giving you any room to swim.

In short, Super Mario World is a must-try classic for everyone. Its graphic and colorful and beautiful, the music is addicting and the difficulty level is very reasonable. There is so much to look for that you will spend several hours just making your way through the regular path. So when you factor in the secret passages, getting through the 96 levels will easily take you weeks.

Best S.N.E.S game!   megaryu
I grew up with a super Nintendo and I must say it's the greatest classic game of all time! The power ups such as the cape is amazing, and the secrets you could find in the game are insanely huge, such as star world and the special world you'll find in the star world. The game is really addicting and I bet you would have a lot of fun playing this game. There are different ways you can beat this game for example, the last star in star world could leave you at Bowsers palace. Overall I'd give this game a 10/10

Ok.Where do I start on this Super Mario World review. This is a one of a kind type of games.the 3 days before this came out I told my dad to see the commercial of this game.I constantly begged and begged my dad to buy it for me. when i finally got it I popped it in my SNES and waited excitedly patient for it to load. When the title screen was loaded,I coudn't believe my eyes. The graphics were great. So I started playing the game.I love the first level. The addition of Yoshi was just awesome. The Koopas were exellently designed. The last level...it was just great. My biggest memory is the talking Yoshi egg at the end of the castle levels.I just love this game.So I give this a 10 out of 10.

From 1988 (Mario bros. NES) to 2012 (and over), Mario has became one of nintendo's most popular game characters. So, you are mario and really the game is quite simple. Bowser has kidnapped peach again, like in other mario games (blah),and...Mario needs to save her Yet again! So, you stomp on koopas, and goombas and other weirdos(to let you know..the round brown thingys are goombas) well so onto the ratings.
SOUND: 6
Really..the sound is'nt too bad. EXCEPT FROM BOWSERS CASTLE. It is awful. The other tunes are OK.
ADDICTIVENESS: 8
Quite addicting, the levels are also quite tricky, but if I can try i could beat bowser's castle.
DEPTH: 10
Whoa there, now i'm not lying about this one! It takes more than a while to beat (probably, a whole day).

It's Mario, how can you really go wrong with Mario, however the question of whether this port is worth the vizzed comes into mind. The question comes up because they controls to this game are extremely..whats the word I'm looking for.... clunky? Bah I'll give an example here. In my GBA game You could hold B to sprint and A to jump, this allowed you to perform an advance jump (yeah let's just call it that) in this port You press whatever key you assign then quickly let go of it and press whatever key for jump you've applied. As you can imagine unless you plan on really sitting down to play this it's really hard to get used to. I can't count how many times I have died because of these controls and remapping them only does so much.
I get it's a port using keys and there is only so much you can do to fix that, and it doesn't make the game unplayable on the contrary I've enjoyed playing this aside from dying over and over and OVER. Like I said it just takes practice and I plan on putting that effort to learn the game in, but if any of you don't have plans to do this ignore this game. Part of the learning curve is timing your jumps and it will feel almost like learning how to play the game again. It's actually quite fun, but I warn you all again, if you aren't the kind of person who is willing to spend a chunk of time learning how to play this game don't get it. Spend your Viz on something else. :).

SMW Review: How can Mario get any better?   T-ram-plays-stu..
Hey! It's Super Mario World! Where...the...same...thing...happens...AGAIN!! It's the same thing, where Peach gets kidnapped from Bowser again, and Mario, ONCE AGAIN, has to save her. This game has introduced popularity to the Super Nintendo other than cancellation and having the Nintendo 64 coming in 5 years and no Super Nintendo for those 5 years. So, basically, the game is a rocket up of popularity. So the game is an awesome retro source, and here's why this is that. The story is partly bland because it's story is just like every Mario game: Bowser kidnapped Peach, Mario saves Peach, The end. But it's, at least, referencing to Super Mario Brothers 3, where the 7 Koopa Kids are in every castle in the end of every world, having Bowser at the end of the final world, of course. So for a partly bland story, some of it is interesting...7 is a good enough score to me. For the Graphics, it's amazing for 16-bit sprites during 1991, even though Mega Man 7 had awesome graphics...10 is the right score. As for the Sounds...I give 9 because it has great music and sound. It's the addictiveness that makes this game so popular. It's just so addictive to play, so I'm giving it a 9. The game is gigantic!! Ten is for depth. The difficulty isn't as bad as a 9, it's 70/30, A.K.A. Seven. The overall Rating...9 and a tenth! Until next time, See ya!

This game is one of a kind. I can't think of a better way to spend my time. When I am bored, I think about this game. This game has a lot of new worlds. With all of the levels there are like 700 levels. If there were only like 20 levels I would be bored but I made this review all about this game so I can give you my honest opinion. Without the levels, this game would be just plain. I just like games with a lot of levels. That is the kind of person I am. The kind that likes challenges. Also that likes video games a lot. I thank you all for reading my review. :) Thank you and have a nice day.

My review of Super Mario World.   Blobbie244
On to the first game that released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Which was on November 21, 1990. The game was great, the graphics were very well, better then the regular Nintendo Entertainment System in 1983. Simply You are imagining yourself playing Super Mario Bros. 5 years later. The Goombas, the Koopas, just fireball or stomp. And of course, Bowser is back. Many Worlds in One game, The first is pretty easy, I beat World 1 already. Sounds are very simplified, those 8-bit days are over, it's time to move on to the 16-bit world. Many things to help you in the game, simple to conquer a level, This is the most popular Mario game that released worldwide, Over 337,000 people on Vizzed played this game, A perfect- best selling game for a SNES.

This game is amazing! There is so much graphical difference from the others. There is more challenge, more of everything. This game is honestly awesome and I would recommend anybody to play it if they have never played Mario. I would say the one reason I love this game is the difficulty. It is most difficult of the 3 Super Mario Bros games(except for Lost Levels,) and challenge is what I like in a video game. Without challenge, everything would be too easy, and I hate when games are way too easy. Nintendo did a really good job with this game, and I would  give it a 9.7 out of 10

Super Mario World   huntra1291
Super Mario World (Super Mario 4 in Japan) is the game that first came bundled with the Super Nintendo and later on version 2 of Super Mario All Stars is one of the most beloved SNES games of all time. The game features a HUGE world to explore plus over 90 levels to go through with many have alternate exits and paths. The game features familiar Mario enemies such as goombas and koopas. The game features new enemies as well as giant Bullet Bill's and Chargin Chucks. This game is the first to introduce us to the much beloved family of Yoshi. Before I forget Familiar sub bosses make a return for Super Mario Brothers 3 in the return of the Koopa Kids. Each one serves as the boss at the end of each of the 6 different zones. End of the intro now on to the actual review and scoring.
Difficulty 7: I rated the game as a 7 cause I felt that while it starts out easy I did find it a little difficult in the later stages of the game, seeing as I have not played in years. Others of you may find it easier or harder and that's okay. But for me it is a 7 based on the fact I am a little rusty with it.
Depth 10: Depth I gave a 10 cause of the fact that the game offers you over 90 levels to go through many with alternate routes.  As I said the game offer up quite a lot.
Story 9: I gave the Story 9 because it is the same Mario story. Bowser kidnaps Peach and he runs off to save her. It is a story but it is not much of one.
Addictiveness 10: I believe the game to be extremely addictive. When I first had the game I could not stop playing it at all. And on this site seeing it here again makes me want to play it all the time. That is why I rated it a solid 10.
Sound 10; Sound I rated a 10 as well cause I believe it to be the best I've heard in a Mario game for quite some time. The tunes are really memorable and are ones you wont be forgetting anytime soon.
Graphics 10: I gave the graphics a solid 10 cause of how detailed the characters, levels, and worlds are. The game as a whole is very beautiful to look at. Time I play I find myself just taking in the beautiful look of it. You can definitely tell Nintendo took their time on the art work. And it shows.
Overall 10: Overall I scored the game a 10. And here is why. The game is a joy to play. Whether you are playing it again (like me) or it's your first time playing a Mario game you wont be disappointed at all.
Final Thoughts: My final thoughts on the game are it is a fun experience to sit and play through. I fully recommend the game to people who are new to Mario or to those who have not played the game in a long time.

The story is also amazing but Its basically the same story line Go level to level defeating enemies and bosses and save the mushroom kingdom.Super Mario World offers a lot that's all I got to say about the depth. Also This game is very hard to beat ,a few times I could get stuck in one level and its hard to get to Browser. So have fun with the game.

One of the best mario games   Snorp02
I could say that super Mario world is the best Mario game ever and then just say all the good things about it or I could says it the worst game ever and go one and say what is wrong with the game. Instead let me say the pros and cons with a little bit of the details
Graphics:
Mario world has great graphics for the era it has great colors and details but one of the few problems is that Luigi is just another Mario wearing green. This was changed in Mario all-stars + Mario world so Luigi would like more like Luigi not Mario.
Sound:
This game has a every good soundtrack and a few of the famous Mario songs came from this game there's not really a lot to say here so lets move on.
Likely hood to play this again:
Just depends on you for me: yes. I like speed running this game so I play over and over again to lower my time. But that's just me.
Story:
I rated this low because like every other Mario game its the same old story bowser kidnaps Peach, Mario goes after him, Mario saves Peach.
Length:
Super Mario world is a pretty long game it goes through several world each world size is varying. You can beat the game very fast using secret exits but if you beat it the normal way it will take some time.
Last but not least the Difficulty:
This game is at the most a little bit more Difficulty then other Mario games so if you are good at those you will have no problem with this game.
I hope you enjoyed this review.

Super Mario World (Snes)   Awesome5000
Super Mario World for the Super-Nintendo is a adventure side scrolling ( One player at a time) two player game that was made in the early nineteen nineties of the year 1994 which was at the time  the following sequel to the previous and last supermario game " Supermario bros 3" for the original console of the nintendo entertainment system. It was also the first supermario bros game for the super-nintendo to make it's next generation videogame debut at the time which delivered an outstanding new era of gaming ,with new upgraded graffics, new storyline, new features which it showed on the cover of the famous nintendo icon super mario wairing a yellow heroic cape while he is teaming up with the new added character to the series who was a friendly dinosaur named Yoshi ,in which also at the time was Yoshi's videogame debut ,giving super mario the advantage to have cooperative teamwork for the first time in any mario game.I remember playing this as a child back in the day for the first time at my cuzzins house and was pretty amaze by the new upgrades and features it had.Mario and Yoshi teams to rescue Yoshis eggs which has been taken by Bowzer and  tooken to every koopa castle .Note: (Yoshi is always unable to enter all the castles, only Mario can enter ) .Reach each castle , fight through all the enemies ,go through every obstacle reach and get a win over the koopa bosses and as a reward, one egg will be rescued ,upto you reach the final castle where Marios destiny with Bowzer and princess peach awaits. This game starts off near Yoshi's house on a map that has an overhead view where your mission is to rescue princess peach and you will have to suceed in every level to add more locations taking you further on the quest to reaching king Bowzer where he holds the princess in his dreaded castle.Supermario world is packed with so many levels but you can also find hidden areas where you will either find a shortcut or a bonus level, and luckily it has saving points so you can always continue where you left off .Throughout the game as you progress you will find different color yoshi's ,purple, blue ,yellow .each with a special ability .The graffics and designs are well done, the game levels are fun to play.Super Mario world is almost kind of in a way as cooperative as "Donkey Kong Country" but you can lose Yoshi if you get hit once  ,but unlike Donkey Kong country,if you're quick enough ,while he's running away ,you can always get back on track with Yoshi by jumping back on his back .The only thing i did'nt like about this game was yoshi's limits ,like unable to enter the koopa castles, and not being able to choose Yoshi walking by himself without mario in the levels. But despite those little things ,in my opinion, this game is a super-nintendo classic ,and is one of the game's on my top ten list of 1 of the best side scrolling games for the super-nintendo .Overall: 9.9

Mario: the best game series ever   Fancdew
OVERALL:
The Mario series is one of the best series I've ever played. The graphics could be touched up a bit, and the story is the same as all the Mario games except for Yoshi's friends' are missing, and It's a bit hard, but overall, It's an alright game.
Graphics:
The graphics could be better. Like the birds. They just look like... badly animated birds. Yoshi. Yoshi could be a bit better. Mario and Luigi. They could be a little better. Otherwise, the graphics are pretty good.
Sound:
Not much to say. The soundtrack is amazing. Vivid. Playful.
Addictiveness:
Very addictive. I keep coming back and playing it, almost everyday. It is a great game, so It's pretty addictive.
Story:
The storyline is pretty good; Instead of Princess Peach being kidnapped, as with most Mario games, it's Princess Toadstool. Also, Yoshi's friends are missing.
Depth: Pretty long game. Along with bonus levels, it's even longer.
Difficulty:
Pretty difficult. My whole family and I can't beat it, and we are video game masters.

Really nice game   Flako_PR
I can say about this game these are some of my favorite games I played when I had my 10 years long I kept playing much have lasted to spend part of extremes that if it was difficult to pass when you used to Mario and put fat flying so if that tab complicated but because while it could spend many times and yet I still playing it's best Mario amuses you the graphics are good the song sounds good and I like everything that has the game one much fun with your brother or sister or your friend when you invited to play with the truth that this game is as much as I like super Nintendo and thanks to the page Vizzed went back to my childhood with the game to play it again and again and again would be fine if you play online with other people here in Vizzed would be fun to play with other people with the game Super Mario World serious fun with other people and for the truth that many games Mario there are good and I played all and I have repeated many times and finish many times but tan been y moments set difficult ace when you want colder those boxes of colors to unblocking and open new things and here are many hidden maps Tobin necessity's repeat the globe several times to know where you go to open and unblocking things and it's hard some and is good when you finish the game once and go back to playing

Super Mario World   Austin Winter
Super Mario World is my favorite mario game for a reason. Everything about it is addictive. The enemies are memorable, the levels are unique, and the gameplay is smooth. I can honestly say that is you are a hardcore mario fan, you will love this game. It is so fun to explore this new portrayal of the new mushroom kingdom, fighting old bosses, new bosses, and progressing through the world. There are many secrets to unlock and enjoy. This game is a definite staple in the mario series; and like super metroid, it was a game ahead of its time for the SNES.

Comments for Super Mario World

Probably still the best Mario game
Snodeca 07-22-16 - 08:44 AM
Luigi had his own textures in "Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World".

MARIO. IT'S SUPER MARIO WORLD. THERE'S CRAZY TURTLES - I forgot the rest.
TheBWoods15 06-09-16 - 09:37 PM
Why is Luigi just a re-color of Mario? I swear that when I played this as a kid, Luigi was actually in it. Is this a bend in reality? Or are there two versions?
mrkoolnerd 05-11-16 - 10:57 PM

Vanilla Ghost House was the ghost house that took me the longest to complete. Around a year to find the exit. And oh God, it was annoying.
TheBWoods15 09-23-15 - 12:44 PM
My most embarrassing thing moment was trying to find the secret exit to Vanilla Ghost House for an hour, then later learning that there was no secret exit.
Snodeca 09-17-15 - 04:44 AM
Let's share our most embarrassing moment on Super Mario World! I was Big Mario while attempting the Orb Glitch, because I'm super dumb and this easy glitch failing like THAT is embarrassing for me.........................
