How can a Mario game get any better?
Super Mario World offers much more then you expect. The game is a joy to play. It's not hard core tricky like Castlevania games, it just a game that is fun to play. Full stop. But I just can't base a review on that. Let me tell you why you should play this game, or play it again, or too continue playing, even if you're already playing the game and don't need to be told how great it can be.
Lets start with the graphics. Mario's detail is higher, allowing you to clearly see his eyes and that cap he has. In fact, most of the graphics are clearer and sharper than the nes ones. The marvels of 16-bit games. The detail in the background is also nice. The enemies are new and some will annoy you. Like those rugby player guys. There is also a Yoshi! ^^ Yoshi means "go" in Japan, I'm not sure why they would call a cute green dinosaur "go", maybe it's what Mario says when he hops on him. Maybe that's why he says "here-we-go-a". *crickets chrip in background* Get it? No...? Never mind.
Guess how the story goes. That's right. Princess Peach gets kidnapped yet again by browser. they have really bad security problems in the Mushroom Kingdom. Or did they think he'll never try the same trick five times in a row? Either way, they really need to sort out their Kingdom. Who's the king?
Enough rambling for now. You are Mario, off to save the Princess from Browsers grasp. You have to travel though the world to get too Browsers castle, defeat him, and get the girl. Simple, right? No, because another thing Browser has done, is he has also kidnapped Yoshi eggs (how could he?). You need to save them as you go through the world. You are on Dinosaur Land. And you must also rescue the Yoshi eggs (that can talk) to restore peace to Dinosaur Land.
You start at a house on the world map. If you choose to go to this house, then there is a speaker there. What does Mario do best? Hit blocks with his head (or more accurately, his fist that is ever so slightly higher then his head). And Yoshi will say something not really important, something about being trapped by Browser. Nothing else you can do here. That's it. Honest. You don't need to go here. You have a choice of two paths. If you happen to go left, you'll get to do a level, much like going right, only after that you get access to the great big yellow switch.
The what? Allow me to explain. Later in the game you will find coloured out-lines of blocks that you go though. This switch makes those blocks full depending on the colour of the block and switch. for example, a yellow switch will make yellow out-lines into yellow blocks, making future stages either easier or have more access to other stages. You'll need these blocks filed if you want to explore every corner of this game. There are four coloured switches. Everyone can find the yellow one, that is why I mentioned it. It's up to you to find the other three switches.
Along that, You'll find a load of Yoshi that will help you save the Princess. They can eat enemies and fruit for items. But when you get to a castle, you have to leave them behind. Which is a shame. On the map, if you're standing on a yellow circle, then that level has one route. But if you're standing on a red circle, that means there is more than one way to finish the level. If you find this secret way, then you'll have access to a new level. It's important to find these, you might find a passage to the secret Star World. Sometimes you can't get there yet because you need a certain switch to be pressed before you can do it that way, and you know the switches I'm talking about.
You'll come to a castle soon, and you'll have to get through it. You then fight a boss, and after that, you get to blow the castle up. ^^ Every time you do it differently, with the Yoshi Egg thanking you for saving it. How cute! Then you advance to the next world. Simple formula. But here's where it gets interesting. If your good enough, you'll find one of the five entrances to Star World. What is this Star World? A world in the shape of a star. Once you complete that, you'll have access to...well, I'll let you find out when you get there. =D
The music is very catchy. You'll have it stuck in your head all day. It's also quiet cheery. Not much to say, but it is very good to listen to.
Overall, I give this 9/10 squarely. This game can be played normally for great fun, or you play to find all the secrets, for even more fun. I would suggest looking for the secrets, but you can just play it normally. Have fun ^^

Super Mario World Description: Once again, the evil Bowser has captured Princess Peach (while on a holiday on Yoshi's Island), and it's up to Mario to save her. To aid him in his quest, Mario must use the flying ability of the feather to get him to places hard to reach. But what's even more important is his new friend, the dinosaur Yoshi, who Mario can ride through each level and eat the enemies.Over 90 levels are on offer, with plenty of Bowser's evil koopas and new characters around each level. Apart from saving Peach, you can also save some of Yoshi's friends, other dinosaurs that each have a special attack. Each level also contains a set of extra items to collect, including dinosaur coins, and break the tape at the end of each level to collect stars, that allow you to open up the bonus games.

Super Mario World signified Mario’s leap to the 16-bit universe of gaming on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Since it’s original release, it has been re-released for the Game Boy Advance and the Virtual Console on the Wii. It follows essentially the same storyline of the other Mario world games up until that period: Bowser has captured Princess Peach and it is Mario’s mission to rescue her. In the end he must traverse through a total of eight worlds in an attempt to rescue the princess, and throughout the world there are several different types of levels to explore and conquer: forests, caves, castles, icy levels, and more.
One of the first things players notice upon beginning to play are the sharper graphics compared to this series previous titles on the 8-bit NES. The 16-bit Super Nintendo was able to bring us Shigeru Miyamoto’s platforming plumber in much better detail than anything before.
This installment of the Mario World series brought us many new gameplay features. One of the first new things players discover in this game is Mario’s green dinosaur pal, Yoshi. Yoshi added a new gameplay aspect to the Mario world as he can eat smaller enemies and spit Koopa shells back at enemies rather than swallowing them. Shigeru Miyamoto has been stated as saying that he wanted Mario to have a dinosaur companion ever since the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES, but they weren’t able to fit him into the game. Miyamoto got his wish once Mario came to the Super Nintendo.
Another new gameplay aspect in this game is the addition of the colored blocks. These are only seen as dash-lines in the shape of boxes until each colored blocks’ corresponding to that color. There are a total of four color switches to be pressed throughout the world of this game. Each switch could potentially have a drastic change in any particular level, or there are some which are unaffected by the color switches. The addition of these switches though was definitely a great idea to keep the players entertained.

Once again, the evil Bowser has captured Princess Peach (while on a holiday on Yoshi's Island), and it's up to Mario to save her. To aid him in his quest, Mario must use the flying ability of the feather to get him to places hard to reach. But what's even more important is his new friend, the dinosaur Yoshi, who Mario can ride through each level and eat the enemies.Over 90 levels are on offer, with plenty of Bowser's evil koopas and new characters around each level. Apart from saving Peach, you can also save some of Yoshi's friends, other dinosaurs that each have a special attack. Each level also contains a set of extra items to collect, including dinosaur coins, and break the tape at the end of each level to collect stars, that allow you to open up the bonus games

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh... I will never forget Super mario world. It is such a masterpiece. Oh, the yellow switch palace,
your first encounter with yoshi, the amazing flying hammer brothers, the first time you beat Lemmy, forest of illusion 3, the secret exit on star road 5, bowser's neon castle, it was on this very cartridge. If you want it on your wii system, you can currently get this game on the wii shop channel for 800 wii points, but don't worry, Nintendo never runs out of copies.

Super-Mario World was a quantum-leap from SMB3, Nintendo Pulled No punches when It created this Masterpiece, which was the first of many Launch-Titles , I can't believe Vizzed has this Game (and many others). So Awesome!.
