Super Mario All-Stars Review   Bintsy
Wow, Okay so Super Mario All-Stars is a fantastic game especially if you want a variety of different games! I
mean come on it's 4 games in 1 of MARIO how much more could you ask than just that? When I first played this game I was like okay, 'wait what'? I didn't understand at first that it was 4 games in 1, I ended up trying each one and was like
okay this is different then the other and then actually examined the game and was like DUH that's why it's a 4 in
1 game. I was so excited and already I had played almost all 4 of the games.
Graphics : 9 The graphics are very nice. I find most of the graphics are actually better than some of the other
Mario games I have played. Not sure if it's because it's a bigger style of character or if it's because of the
extra detail they put into the actual game itself. All I know is the graphics wowed me. I was kind of disappointed
when this game basically reminded me of other Mario games even though it was bigger and/or better graphics.
I want something new, not the same old thing. I liked this game more when I was younger but as I have gotten
older my opinions have just changed, not sure if that is just because I have played the game in general so much
or if it's an actual problem with the game.
Sound : 10 The sound is pretty good. There is a variety of music and since there is 4 games there is plenty of
different kinds of styles of music and sounds that would basically fit the title *something for all*. I myself
didn't know what to expect. I thought most of the music would be annoying, probably the same as most games
but I was very wrong. This game adds the kind of feel you want in sound with many games that don't provide that
feeling. Try out the sounds, I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I have, plus look on the bright side at least
to most it isn't annoying music and/or sounds.
Addictiveness : 9 This game is enticingly addictive. You have 4 different types of mario games you play, full of content
that will keep you hours at your chair playing it. I myself played many hours at a time. I wouldn't say this ranked
in my top 3 more like my top 10 of most addictive games. Even though it has 4 games within it, I can find myself
losing interest after playing it for so long, that's just me though. A lot of people play it and can't get enough
it's like they play and there is no time limit. With me though I love it a lot but I can't play it as much as
a lot of other users can. I can play it for a couple of hours at most and then I have to put down the remote.
Then I probably won't play it until a couple of days or even weeks later. I think it might be because I have
played it so much that the game has just became boring to me in all of playing it to much.
Story : 10 The Story is HUGE. Like I mentioned earlier, this game has 4 games total so there is tons of levels
tons of storyline and plenty of hours to it as well. Some of it is a game where you win levels then you defeat a
boss, kind of like regular Super Mario, but it has a lot of variety in it's story that will keep the player meaning
me and anyone else who plays on the edge of their seat just to see what's next.
Depth : 10 The Depth in the game is increasingly high as you have many levels, different games all in one you have
tons of fast paced action, tough bosses to defeat and just fun game play. It's pretty unique how the creators
of this game came up with it. I wouldn't of came up with it myself and I have a huge imagination and mind or at
least, some would say that to me.
Difficulty : 6 When I first played this game it was pretty difficult I guess you could say, I mean I was young
when I first played but being young has nothing to do with how difficult a game is most of the time at least.
I found myself stuck on different levels but like always I ended up winning or passing that level which was
the best feeling I could have. I really LOVE a challenge, no game is good to me unless it has some kind of
challenge besides a couple of games that I can think of now every other game that doesn't have challenge I haven't
really enjoyed them much at all.
I would and would not recommend this game to others. Some would be like okay wait, you post how much you enjoy it
but yet you wouldn't recommend it but I did say I would 'and' would not.
The thing is this game is one of those games that some people would call not interesting or 'I lost interest'. It is very cool and unique but it just seems to me like they threw a bunch of the same types of games in to just one game.
I know a lot of people would disagree with me on that but honestly it's just my opinion.
I feel like they could of created a new type of game and place 4 new games within, even though this is just a Super Nintendo game. I myself still enjoy it even though I don't feel the same as most users who play it do. I just honestly think they could have done somewhat better.
No matter how much story or depth there is to me, sometimes games just don't make the cut in my book. I would recommend it to most though because most are not me lol. If your looking for long game play this is one of those games but
once you play it over and over you will eventually lose interest pretty much like I did, except I played it ALOT
and I'm what some would call 'different' but hey everyone has there own thing.
Anyways,
Bintsy<33

Super Mario All-Stars For Super Nintendo Review By GameBoy1023   GameBoy1023
Super Mario has been my life for quite some time now, so that's why I'm here to review Super Mario All-Stars for the Super Nintendo. Let's start the review!
Graphics: 10
Why I'm saying this is a ten is because it looks much better than what you would play on the NES.
Nintendo did do a great job on graphics. But the best graphics were in Super Mario Bros. 3!
Sound: 8
I suppose the sounds are all the same, But most of the sounds have been re-done. Like when you stomp on the Goomba in Super Mario Bros. It sounds nothing like what you would hear on the NES.
So let's move on to...
Addictiveness: 9
This game is so addicting to me, with my own encouragement, I saved the princess in Super Mario Bros. 1! My rating is 9 for "Addictiveness".
Story: 10
Since this game has four Mario games on it, I will be going over all of them briefly.
In Super Mario Bros. 1: The goal of this game is to save Princess Toadstool from the evil King Koopa, Bowser.
In Super Mario Bros:The Lost Levels: This is the same story line of Super Mario Bros. but the levels happen to be changed. Because Japan thought that their Super Mario game wouldn't be so good in America so they just made this.
In Super Mario Bros. 2: Now, they took Doki Doki Panic (A Japanese Nintendo Game) and gave it a Super Mario makeover. This storyline is not like an original Super Mario game because Princess Peach is a playable character. The storyline for this game is when Mario wakes up from a dream he had, he goes outside to reveal what he saw in his dream is reality.
In Super Mario Bros 3: The storyline is like any typical Mario game, You save the Princess from Bowser. Except there are different bosses.
Depth: 10
The depth is a 10 because there are four Mario games on it, and all the games are awesome. I highly recommend playing this game.
Difficulty: 10
I say this game is a difficulty rating of 10 because all the games are hard to complete.
Overall Rating: 10
I highly recommend playing this game at least once even if your not a Mario fan.
Thank You for reading this review!

Super Mario All-Stars Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 9.5
I made a review about Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and how good it was.  This is just like it, but it is Mario games.  I really like it when they make games that have more than one games in it (except for Action 52, that was horrible).  I like playing this game cause you can play Super Mario Bros 1, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, and Super Mario Bros Lost Levels.  I understand the first three, but the lost levels seemed to be different than the others because I do not think that it was ever released in the United States.  It is fun, but there are some things in there that is just different than Super Mario Bros.  This game has FOUR Mario games and they are very fun and classic.
Graphics - 10
The graphics are AMAZING.  They were like remade and look a whole lot better than what you would play on the NES.  I mean the graphics are twice as better.  The effects are pretty much the same looks as the NES games.
Sound - 10
I am not sure if the sounding is even better, but I assume that it is basically the same.  The sound effects are usually the same.  It brings back that Mario jumping and music from the past.
Addictiveness - 8
Like I said, the game is awesome because it has four games in one cartridge.  I would play this a lot of times.  I mean the graphics are a lot better and the games never gets old.
Story - 8
I assume that there is no story in any of the games, but you pretty much know the plot of it.  Princess Peach is kidnapped by Bowser and Mario has to go save her.  On the second one, it is kind of different because you get to use Princess Peach.  I think the story in Super Mario Bros 2 is that Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach are to go and save something from an evil frog-looking creature called Wart.  I have never knew that they would replace Bowser with a frog named Wart, but they did.
Depth - 10
This game has a lot to offer.  Like I said for the billionth time, it has four games in it.  Another thing is that you can save where you left off in any of the four games, so that you do not have to start all over again (that is really helpful).  Also, the graphics are good (for the billionth time lol).  The game play is the same, but it still is a lot of fun.
Difficulty - 5
The games are not that hard.  I have played them and I seem to get far into the game, especially Super Mario Bros 3 cause I have beaten that millions of times.  I have beaten Super Mario Bros 2 a few times, but not the first Super Mario Bros, that one is hard.  The lost levels is the same as Super Mario Bros, but a little different and that one is also the one I could not beat.  The only game that is hard out of the four is Super Mario Bros Lost Levels because it is completely different.  You can choose to be either Mario or Luigi.  The reason why is because they do different things like Luigi can jump higher than Mario, but is not stabled enough than Mario.  I usually pick Luigi because he is easier to use because I like to jump a lot.  Another thing in this game is that there is this Poison Mushroom and if you take it, you die.  That is clever to put in the game, but at least make it purple or something so that people would know that it is a Poison Mushroom.  It is not exactly like the original mushroom, but it just looks a little different and you can tell a little by the difference.  Another thing in the game is that there is this item where you can jump on like a trampoline.  If you are Luigi and you jump on the trampoline thing, you will fly into the air, where you will not see where you are.  You will be in the air for about 5 to 10 seconds and then come back down.  I am not sure if it does the same thing as Mario, but I think that they made a mistake about doing that.
Wrap Things Up...
Super Mario All-Stars is an awesome thing to play when you want to play one game after the other.  I highly recommend trying this game out if you have not already.  I guarantee that you will love it, especially with the graphics and to all you Mario fans. :)

Super Mario All-Star: the Mitigated Transition to the Next Level   janus

Probably following the mid-1990s fashion or remixing old things and putting a modern twist to them, Nintendo decided to resuscitate all of Mario’s games from the NES (including the “real” Super Mario Bros. 2, which was renamed “The Lost Levels” ) and show a new generation of gamers how the fat Italian plumber’s (original) adventures originate from. While the graphics are very beautiful and the platform function allows you to save and quit, I felt like the games had lost their original charm by moving from 8-bits to 16-bits.

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics in all four games are undeniably a stellar improvement from their NES counterparts.

It’s especially obvious for Super Mario Bros. 1/The Lost Levels. Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool now all have human proportions instead of being blobs of pixels (the Toads you save even have different movements when you save them). The Marios’ coverall and shirt are now clear and their colors are now more distinguishable. They even have human-like eyes and faces. Furthermore, the levels have been greatly improved with very rich backgrounds everywhere that goes from daylight to night time. Even Bowser’s castle (that includes thunder outside) was improved. Speaking of Bowser, he even looks better than in Super Mario World since you can see him all, and even see him burn in the lava. As for TLL, the wind blowing looks more realistic.

Super Mario Bros. 2 has also gotten very nice improvements. The slight pixel excess from the characters is now gone, the backgrounds are more colorful everywhere (including underground) and the slot machine is now easier to manipulate. Movement such as picking up and throwing is also more fluid and Birdo is now better-drawn (he/she even has a cute buckle on the head and the head has more realistic proportions).

Finally, I have mixed feelings regarding Super Mario Bros. 3. Sure, the levels are all more colorful, and so are the Marios and all the monsters. However, I believe that the overworld maps are too colorful. Sure, it used 16-bits technology correctly but for those like me who played the original game, it just looks too much. The original design was simpler and better.

Music: 5/10

This was my biggest disappointment about the game. The 16-bits face lift just didn’t carry most of the charm from the original games (I'm an "originalist", what can I say).

The Mario 1 overworld remix was probably the largest disappointment. I mean, this is probably the best-known theme of all times – or at least up to the 16-bits era. The SNES version just doesn’t have the same whistling proneness (the Super Mario RPG version sounded better) and the end-of-level fanfare is overdone. However, the castle music did sound more dramatic, and the underwater theme sounded more soothing.

The Mario 2 overworld theme was closer to the original one, but its 16-bits lift made it slower and less interesting than its NES edition. The other themes (underground, boss) sound about the same. However, the final boss theme is much better.

Finally, Mario 3 also has its hosts of disappointment. The overworld themes for worlds 1 (overdone), 2 (the “Arabic” tones were too much), 5 (the SNES synth made the theme worse) and 8 (not dramatic enough) were better on the NES, as with most levels (themes from 1-1, 1-2, the Mushroom House, in the clouds, the Boom-Boom fortress and his theme and the Hammer Brothers). However, worlds 3 (especially that one) and 4 did profit from a facelift by sounding more modern and less synthesized, whereas world 7’s synthesized beat sounds better on the SNES (world 6 sounds just about the same). The underwater theme also sounds more… magical, just like Mario 1 and the airship music also sounds half as good (the intro drum is more dramatic but the bursting trumpets sound too weird). Finally, while it did sound better in Mario 1, the generic underground theme from SMAS sounds inferior to the Mario 3 version.

Now, with respect to sound effects, they’ve all been standardized for all games. They’ve basically been copied from Super Mario World, which was a good thing. The jumping sound is much less annoying on the SNES, the picking up sound is more realistic as are the canon sound (although strangely, it’s the same sound for door-opening) and the spitting sound. However, I found the jump-on-foe sound annoying; it’s as if you were trying to destroy a brick every single time, no matter what you jump on (a Goomba or a Troopa).

Addictiveness: 8/10

With so many games before you, you’ll get hooked on to them for sure if you have at least some interest for the genre.

The platform setting, where you can save after each world (each level for TLL) and get to keep the lives you get was a big plus. At last, you don’t have to restart the whole game every time you turn off your system, nor would you need to replenish your bonus item bank in Mario 3. You can even accumulate a few lives/items before moving forward with the levels, which is nice too. That way you can have as many music boxes to make the Hammer Bros. sleep or Jugem Cloud to go over those difficult levels (or have an invincibility star to start it without too much difficulty).

Getting to save after each level on TLL was a welcome addition. Considering the difficulty level (see below), it allowed you to save your course more meticulously. Plus it encouraged you to go from 1-1 through 8-4 without going for the warps, which gave you access to the secret world and prolonged your quest by about 16 levels.

Finally, despite some exaggerations (see above), the 16-bits graphics are really appealing to the eye and strengthen the playability. They are even more colorful than Mario World (without being psychedelic) but also more varied.

Depth: 8/10

Since the games are copy/paste versions of their NES versions, the depth of the game varies greatly.

Mario 1, having been published in 1985, shows its lack of depth. Despite having eight worlds, they don’t have much to explore. They do have a few bonuses and secret passages leading to warp zones (you can access the eighth world in a jiffy), but they otherwise are very linear. Plus, most castles are carbon copies of each other; higher levels simply have more obstacles like rotating fireballs.

TLL, on its side, does show a little more depth. Levels are larger and have many more obstacles. However, just like Mario 1, the levels are either above ground, in the air, underground on in the water.

That all changes in Mario 2. While still rather linear, at least Mario 2 regularly alternates between over and underground, bringing some variety. There are also many hidden keys/bombs to be found in order to progress, meaning you will have to go down all those urns in order to find them.

Finally, Mario 3 is HUGE. Although you don’t have to complete all levels to complete each world, you will still have to complete most of them in order to move to the next world. Each level is very diversified, with all sorts of different obstacles to face making all levels quite different from each other. By collecting a specific amount of coins you can even yield a N-Spade card giving you free goodies, a Hammer Bros. boat full of coins or even a Secret Mushroom House giving you a P-Wing (in odd worlds) or an anchor (in even worlds except 8).

Difficulty: 7/10

Once again, the difficulty level varies greatly from game to game.

The first few levels in Mario 1 are fairly easy. Once you get a flower, your fireballs can basically kill anything in sight. However, past world 5 many enemies become immune to get like cannon balls and some black-shelled enemies, for which you will need to be careful. Also, Hammer Bros. tend to pop up out of nowhere in later worlds too, so be careful. Finally, some castles have very specific paths you need to take. Otherwise, you will either go back to the beginning or walk in an infinite loop (fortunately, SMAS has sounds to tell you if you took the right path). Oh, and not being able to move left past a certain point is annoying; I like to explore levels thoroughly.

TLL is one of the most difficult games ever produced in the 8-bits era. To quote tasvideos.org, it’s an exercise in fake difficulty: most long jumps can only be successful if you time them right (by jumping on one or more enemies in succession in order to advance), there are HUGE gaps at times that you go across thanks to strong winds, so timing is also essential. Finally, occasional poisonous mushrooms will shrink/kill you if you touch them.

Mario 2 has a reasonable difficulty level. Unlike Mario 1, you can increase your life bar with mushrooms so you don’t instantly shrink when you get hit. Plus, since you can choose among Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool, all of whom have strengths and weaknesses, you can always switch characters should you die. Finally, invincibility stars are much easier to come by; you just have to pick enough cherries, which are hanging everywhere. And you can freeze the enemies for a few seconds by picking up enough mature vegetables.

Mario 3 is the most (reasonably) challenging of them all. All levels have different obstacles to go around, including piranha plants that spit fire, flying turtles that can move left and right and mad suns (and ghosts) that fly right at you. There are auto-scroll levels that will prove to be challenging, especially in the Ice World – slipped a few times in bottomless pits. Most of them however are in the end-of-the-world castles, which will also prove to be challenging. In the early levels, you will have to watch for cannon balls. But as the worlds progress, you will also have to look for fire cannons, the risk of being squeezed by the screen, gaps (some of which you must go over by jumping on slippery screws) and wrench-throwing enemies that never really die. Finally, the Boom-Boom fortresses have sometimes many passages that will confuse you. Oh, and Boom-Boom sometimes flies around, so watch out.

In short, despite an uneasy translation to 16 bits, Super Mario All-Star is a must-try for people who think 8-bits graphics are too primitive. All four games are a copy/paste version of their 8-bits counterpart so you won’t miss an ounce of the original games. The platform feature will allow you to save the game for later (and even accumulate a few lives/items on the way) and let all the family play – those with siblings might remember that Shining Force II only had TWO slots…

Super Mario All-Stars Review   starwars293
Hello people its starwars293.Last time I reviewed Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES and this time I am reviewing Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES.Super Mario All-Stars contains 4 games. Those games are Super Mario Bros,Super Mario Bros 2,Super Mario Bros 3 and the game that was never released in the U.S. but in Japan Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels.Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels was released in Japan as Super Mario Bros 2 and wasn't released until Super Mario All-Stars came out with the other 3 games. When I first played Super Mario All-Stars I thought it was gonna be a good game but instead they're 4 games in 1 cartridge.That surprised me.I first played Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels.I didn't know the controls at first but then I got the hang of it.I started the level and I found a mushroom that was poisonous but I didn't know it was poisonous.I took it and I died.I made sure that when I saw the poisonous mushroom I made sure I wouldn't take it.I continued the level but I didn't beat level though it was fun to play Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels.I played Super Mario Bros 3 next.Super Mario Bros 3 was still the same from the NES version of the game.Like I said in my last review SNES game had better graphics the NES games. The game had 16-bit graphics like all the other SNES games. It blew my mind that it had better graphics then all the other SNES games I played.Out of all the SNES games I played, this had the best graphics ever.I haven't played Super Mario Bros or Super Mario Bros 2 but I do know that it still had the same gameplay but the thing that was different from the NES games was the graphics.I might try those game later after this review.Other then that Super Mario All-Stars is a good game.On to the review.
Story-Well it depends on what game your playing on Super Mario All-Stars but I think all of the games have the same story
Depth-Well Super Mario All-Stars like I said it has 4 games in 1 cartridge. It gives us better graphics and the game Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels the game that was never released in the U.S. but in Japan as Super Mario Bros 2.
Addicitveness-Trust me I would play it again since it has 4 games in 1 cartridge,it has better graphics and it reminds you of having to play those games again on the NES.
Controls-I can remember some of them but i'll try my best.B is jump,A is attack, hold Y and you run(someone correct me if i'm wrong).
Graphics-The graphics are great.Like I said SNES games had better graphics then NES games and the graphics were really good.
Difficulty-Those games are hard but they're fun to play.
Overall-Those game are fun to play and have really good graphics
Wrap things up-Super Mario All-Stars has really good games even Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels.I would play this game and so would you.
Hope you have fun playing this game.
Thanks

Super Mario All-Stars- Review   dazzsheil
Super Mario Brothers 1, 2 and 3 are classic Nintendo Entertainment System games. They were all fun to play and they made the NES a powerhouse in the video game world. In 1990 (Shortly after Super Mario Bros. 3 came out) Nintendo launched the Super Nintendo in Japan, the first true competitor against the almighty SEGA Mega Drive. It launched with F-Zero, Pilotwings, SimCity and Super Mario World. A few years later, Nintendo decided to repack the three classic Super Mario Brothers games along with one never released outside of Japan (Which is Called Super Mario bros. 2: The Lost Levels over here) onto one Super Nintendo cartridge. The result? Super Mario All-Stars, the definitive way to play the classic Super Mario Bros. Games.
-------------------------------------------------
The control varies for each game but Super Mario Brothers, Lost Levels and Mario 3 all control pretty much the same and have the same basic gameplay (although Mario 3 is slightly more complex). You can walk with the D-Pad, Run with the Y Button and jump with the B button. Simple as. If you see an enemy, you simply jump on their head (Unless they're Spiny's or a Boss) and they die or retreat into their shell. You can also get Power-Up's along the way that let you get an extra hit or help you along the way. As normal Mario, one hit and boom. You are dead. If you get a Super Mushroom, it makes Mario (or Luigi) grow in size and allows him to take one extra hit. The Fire Flower let's him shoot fireballs and the Starman makes him invincible! Lost Levels has it's own unique item, the Poison Mushroom which if touched shrinks you in size or kills you instantly. Mario 3 has all sorts of Wacky power-ups. You have the Raccoon Leaf which allows Mario to fly and spin, the Tanooki Suit which does the exact same thing but allows Mario to become invulnerable to enemies after turning into a statue, the Frog Suit which allows you to swim better and the Hammer Bros. suit, which allows Mario to become a Hammer Bro. So he can throw Hammers. Mario 2 is definitely the most different of the bunch, since jumping no longer kills enemy's, now you have to throw vegetables and other things to kill them. You have a health meter aswell, so you'd better watch out! Two hits and you're done for. Also in mario 2, you can control four different characters: Mario, Luigi, Toad and the Princess. Each control differently and have their own unique abilities. Play the game to find out!
------------------------------------------------
The graphics in Super Mario Bros and Lost Levels are pretty much the exact same thing. They look very nice on the Super Nintendo, very colourful and very stylized. Mario 2 is my favourite in terms of Graphics. I like the wonderful colours and the varied environments in all of the worlds. Super Mario Bros. 3 was one of the Dullest games on the NES and thankfully it has been upgraded to the 16-Bit machiene with more colours, extra sprite detals and lovely looking environments.
------------------------------------------------
The sound in Super Mario Bros. and Lost Levels are again, the exact same thing. Only four songs in the entire game but one of them I'm sure yo all know: the Super Mario Bros. Main theme. it is probably the most well known gaming song ever and it shows here. it's really catchy and the 16-bit upgrade really improves the song's feel. Mario 2's soundtrack is great and Mario 3's while lacking in a few areas, I feel as though it made the transition very easily aswell.
------------------------------------------------
The game's are not heavy on story. Princess Peach has been kidnapped and it's upto you, Mario or Luigi to stop Bowser from taking over the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario 2 has a more elaborate plot. Mario and friends are sucked into a dream word and you have to stop the evil Wart from taking over the Subspace. Like I Said, not very heavy on story.
------------------------------------------------
The games are really addicting and have a High Score system to keep you coming back for more. There's plenty of secrets in each game for you to discover!
------------------------------------------------
Mario 2 is probably the easiest game of the four. Super Mario Bros. and  Mario 3 are about the same difficulty, maybe with Mario 3 edging ever so slightly ahead. LOST LEVELS IS A GAME FROM SATAN HIMSELF. Honestly, if you want to be a massicist and are somebody who enjoys frustration and love Challenge, well Lost Levels is DEFINETLY FOR YOU. Honestly, the level design in that game is just ape!
------------------------------------------------
Overall, I really enjoy these four games, to a certain extent. I mean come on it's Super Mario Bros! Sure the difficulty may turn some casual players off but honestly this is one compilation you don't wanna miss out on. It's great value for money, even if it is slightly hard.
My Score is 8.5 out of ten

Classic 4-in-1.   PD Man
Containing the first 4 Mario games,Super Mario All Stars is a hit. 4 classic Mario games in one cartridge with updated and revised graphics and designs. This game is known to be very rare.
There's Super Mario Brothers:
The classic that started it all, comes back to the SNES for its rightful place, with revised graphics and sounds. SMB is a fun, addicting game that started it all. Its simple, really. Mario saving Princess Toadstool from the evil Bowser. Like always. Mario's gotta save the day. Super Mario Brothers is smart, complex, and its an instant classic.
Super Mario Brothers 2: The Lost Levels
The Japan-Only "real" sequel to Super Mario brothers contains new features, levels, obstacles, and more. Experience Mario like never before with the new Poison Mushroom. Touch this and BAM! You get hurt. These things are bad but also watch for regular Mushrooms and 1-Ups,as you will be needing it on your new journey and epic quest.
Super Mario Brothers 2:
The next installment in the Mario series is fun, interesting and colorful. With new features like Bob-Bombs,etc,this game is the Black sheep of the bunch. Super Mario Brothers 2,known in Japan as Doki Doki Panic is a fun and adventurous game for all Mario fans to enjoy worldwide and is now back to the SNES.
Super Mario Brothers 3:
This game has amazed people everywhere around its release, stunning game play, graphics and features,SMB3 is fun, entertaining and will keep u on the game for hours. Supermario Returns 3 times on snes :D   cameraguy256
I remember playing Mario on my NES, SNES, GBA, GB, GBC, and even on my PC. The best thing I can remember though is waiting in line trying to purchase this game. It was a long wait surely worth the while, once i returned home to play I was given 3 of my favorite Mario games from my NES remastered in 16 bit on my SNES with better sound, better graphics, and even an extra surprise EXTRA MAPS FOR SUPER MARIO 1 all in one cartridge. This came to about at least 50 maps of just pure fun, fun and more FUN. To my surprise an even better surprise came along with this game, unlike the NES verion where when you die you have to restart the whole game from World 1 Level 1, this game supports saves so there is no more beating the whole game in one sitting... so anyways, I strongly suggest playing this game and if you own an SNES I'm not only urging you to buy this game I'm TELLING you go go out and do so if you want a real video game :D

Super Mario All-Stars Review   patar4097
Super Mario All-Stars is the original Super Mario Bros. 1,2, and 3 together, with the inclusion of The Lost Levels, all in one improved game for the Super Nintendo. The graphics were good, even though on the original Super Mario Bros. i would prefer the original. The sound is very good, again thanks to the Super Nintendo which the original one could not have, but again, SMB 1 is just better with the normal music. This game can be played for a long time, to remember the old days playing the original versions, of course the  levels that you hated so much you wanted to destroy the game. because of this, it can be played over and over and over and over again. Since it has four games not including battle mode for multiplayer, it will take a long time to finish. especially the lost levels, which is so hard, i still have not beat it, and i have those "i hate this game!!"  experiences all over again. Over All, Super Mario All-Stars is a great game to go back in time, and enjoy the experience all over again, with the Lost Levels, to experience new adventures. So overall, i give this game a 9.3

Super Mario 1,2,3 and Lost Levels + Super Nintendo= Super Mario All Stars   acool193
This is my review of Super Mario: All Stars!
First of all this is a re release of Super Mario Bros 1, 2, and 3, with Super Mario Bros 2: The Lost Levels included which was on the Japan version of the Nintendo Entertainment System Released on the Super Nintendo with better graphics but same gameplay.
There was a re release of this combined games and added Super Mario World to the game cartridge.
The only difference other than super mario world added is that the title screen was changed from blue to orange.
But let's talk about the game itself.
Story: 5 The stories of the games have not been changed in anyway at all so there is not much to talk about on the story.
Graphics: 10 The game improves the graphics on all the games it has, but the one that has Super Mario World doesn't change that game in any way.
Depth: 10 The games are the same with no added changes or length at all.
Addictiveness: 10 I rather play this game then play the normal carts, also this cart is WAY cheaper than buying every one of those games.
Sound: 8 The Music at the game selection screen and the other games are remixed very nicely for the Super Nintendo and I really like that.
Difficulty: 1 This game is not easier or harder than the real carts at all so there is not much to say about it.
Over all: 10 The game is Super Mario 1, 2,3 and Lost Levels with new graphics and remixed music and that is pretty much it.

Super Mario All Star   Mobouis1
Super Mario All Star is a game where you put all the popular Mario games of the past into one game. So this game have a lot of fun time if you know how to play Mario.
Graphics: 10 They improve the graphics on the games that was originally on the nes, and just make every game look better.
Sound: 10 The music is the same as the original including sound and effects.
Addictiveness: 10 The game have four popular Mario games from the past. The first, second, and third Mario Bros are in it and they have Super Mario lost levels in it. So with four games in one you will be playing this game for a long time.
Story: 4 All of the games have the same story bowser kidnapped peach and it up to the Mario to save her. Nothing new here.
Depth: 10 This game offer a lot since it have four game in one and if you going to beat all them it going to take you a while like it did to me.
Difficulty: 4 The difficulty depend on the game you play some game be easier than this one or this one is harder than that one. Anyway the game isn't that difficult unless you are bad at playing classic Mario games.
Overall: 10 The game is great game and you could play the classic games with upgraded graphics. So if you like the old ones and want to see it in better graphics then don't miss out on this game. Also they make save file for every game so you don't need to worry about starting all over again when you stop playing the game.

The Best Mario game ever   invalidcookie
Take everything you know and loved on the NES about Mario and times that by 16, because this 16-bit upgrade was well worth it.
The Graphics are perfect for this updated version of Super Mario 1 2 3 and lost levels. In this you can now see the difference between a Mario Sprite and a Luigi Sprite (as well as all of the enemies and toad and princess), The Music upgrade is perfect I could listen to the soundtrack for this all day long. In fact I have them on my Phone as my ring tones. The Story wasn't changed for the game because it was a remake but hey if it's not broken don't fix it.
Glitches tricks and everything stayed the same, even the Infinite life tricks.. We love it and we loved it so much we wanted to see it as an Easter egg in Super Mario 64, I remember as a kid being trolled into think if you jump into a correct spot in that game you would get to play these classics.
We love Mario and this game was one of the few we view as perfect.

A Fine Collection of Games   luigi25

Super Mario All-Stars was released for the Super Nintendo in 1993. This game is a collection of 4 different Super Mario Bros. games. These games were: Super Mario Bros., SMB The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Mario Bros. 3. These were classic Mario games from the previous decade originally released on the NES. With the capabilities of the SNES, the games were made better with 16-bit graphics and sound and were also given a save system so the player could keep up with their progress in each game. Super Mario All-Stars is a great game, and it gave many gamers the opportunity to play the original version of Super Mario Bros. 2 that was never released in America. It was renamed the Lost Levels for SMAS.

This was another game I played a lot as a kid. I got it, along with Super Mario World, for Christmas in 1993. It came along with the Super Nintendo, and it was free. They were giving away this game for free to anyone who bought a Super Nintendo Entertainment system at the time. Now that I had all of the NES games on the SNES, there was no need to play the NES versions of SMB2 and SMB3. Although, I still continued to play the original versions too throughout 1994 but not as much. I beat the All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 2 before I beat the NES version. What really was cool for me was that I could now play the first Super Mario Bros. game, a game that I never had growing up.

Not only that, but I got to play the best version of it with improved graphics and sound. And last but not least, when I didn't think it could get any better, an unknown Mario game titled, "The Lost Levels" was also part of the package. I remember reading a section in Nintendo Power around this time that this was the real Super Mario Bros. 2. The game came out in 1986 and was exclusive only to Japan. It was just like Super Mario Bros. 1 on NES but with more stages, and these stages were very difficult. Out of all 4 games, I played this one the least and never got past world 8. Now, things have changed, and I have come to appreciate this remake quite a bit.

Graphics 10/10: Super Mario All-Stars has some great graphics. All 4 games have been given a real overhaul, especially the first game. Each one has backgrounds with: waterfalls, clouds, stars, trees, etc. The sprites look better with much more attention put to their detail. The block-like characters of SMB1 are replaced with more animated characters. The levels are given more character in this game as well, and they now have their own theme. Even in Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, the stages are given more backgrounds that make them more appealing. In SMB3, Water Land looks like Water Land with backgrounds full of waterfalls and underwater levels that are devoid of much light. The same can be said for the appearance of all 4 Mario games.

Music 9/10: The soundtrack of Super Mario All-Stars is a mixed bag. Some games sound better in this remake and some don't. I have to take an average of all 4 games and look at each one individually.

Super Mario Bros. and The Lost Levels 10 /10: These games sound a ton better in the remake! You get a soundtrack here that has a lot of variety to it musically for both of them. All of these songs sound better in this version. The underground theme sounds a whole hell of a lot better! My favorite track is the one for the final fight with the real Bowser. The fake Bowsers also have their own themes as well. These soundtracks are catchy, and the music in both games keeps your attention not just because of its variety but also because of the quality that these songs have.

Super Mario Bros. 2 8/10: This is where you have a game that has been improved in some ways and been dumbed down in others. The underground theme has been made better, but it is still just as repetitive as it was in the original. The overworld theme is about the same, however I don't like the new boss theme. It sounds kind of bad in this version. Overall, the remake of SMB2 has songs that I like and songs that I don't. I feel like this version isn't as good musically.

Super Mario Bros. 3 7/10: Super Mario Bros. 3 is the most disappointing game with its music. The NES version wasn't that great either, and most of the songs in this version are of the same quality as the ones in the original game. If anything, some of them have been downgraded. This is especially true for the Dark Land theme but also for other overworld themes like Giant Land also. This soundtrack was okay to start with, but it has suffered somewhat of a downgrade for the SNES. The music just isn't that catchy or memorable and not a whole lot has been changed and what has been changed has not been changed for the better.

Overall, I think that Super Mario All-Stars has a pretty nice soundtrack. It isn't perfect, but I do like the way the song selection for the first game was improved. Super Mario Bros. 1 sounds so much better in the All-Stars version. It has so much variety to it, and all of it is fantastic! I can't say the same thing for the other two games. SMB and The Lost Levels sound great, but SMB2 and especially SMB3 have both seen somewhat of a downgrade. It isn't anything major, but these games don't sound as good for the SNES. The music as a whole is really good but not wonderful.

Gameplay 9/10: I have to split up this section into 4 parts for each of the 4 games as well. I think the level design and gameplay was improved quite a bit in many of these games because of the save feature the SNES had. The upgraded graphics also helped give games like SMB1 better design to them too. Others like SMB3 were only better to a certain extent.

Super Mario Bros. 8/10: Not a whole lot has changed in this game other than its appearance. The goal of SMB is the same with Mario racing the clock to get to the flagpole before time runs out. He also finds coins that give him extra lives. The save feature is nice because it makes the game easier. Mario can just restart from the beginning of the world instead of re-playing the entire game. I like the improved graphics and how they make the stages look more unique.

Even though, they become repetitive after world 4, they each have their own themes and backgrounds such as: snow levels, levels with starry backgrounds, and majestic underwater levels. Little touches like this make a game that looked really dull and boring more exciting. Everything you like about the NES game is still there but with improved graphics that give this game more life and also a save system that made it easier to finish as well. It isn't too much better, but it is an overall better version.

SMB The Lost Levels 9/10: This was the first time I ever played this game. Even today, I still don't know a whole lot about the original version for the Fanicom either. From what I've seen on YouTube, it's a lot like the first Mario game. Although, the stage design is more creative. The Lost Levels has more variety to it with every level being totally different with exception to a few. It isn't as repetitive and is not the same game as Super Mario Bros. It is way harder! I never got further than world 8 with it when I was a kid, and I still think it is geared more towards players who have finished the other 3 games and want more of a challenge.

Here, the continue feature saves you up to the last level you beat. I can beat it now but not without some difficulty. Despite how hard it is, I still like the layout and design of the game better than SMB. Most of the levels are unique. I also like how after you beat world 8, you can play world 9 which is an underwater world, and later on you play worlds A - D which are insanely hard! The Lost Levels also introduced new concepts like: wind that blew you backwards, poison Mushrooms, and warp zones that warped you back to levels you already played. Some levels even contained some real puzzles.

I have to say that even though it was a hard game, I enjoyed it. I liked its originality, and I thought the new ideas like the wind were cool concepts. Instead of a Hard Mode like in SMB, you got to play 5 entirely different worlds which made things even better. You still played as Mario and could only shoot fireballs at enemies like before, so nothing was all that new except for the levels and some of the unique ideas. Despite the game's brutal difficulty, I did enjoy it more than the original SMB but not much more.

Super Mario Bros. 2 10/10: In this game you can play as either Mario, Luigi, Toad, or the Princess. The difference with this version is that if you lose a life you can go back and select a different player. Other than that, not a whole lot has changed. The save feature made this version a lot easier for me as a kid. This is the version of SMB2 that I beat first because I had unlimited continues. The All-Stars version made the NES version obsolete. That one is fun and all, but I hated how you didn't have but 2 continues and after that, it was GAME OVER!

The SNES version is more fair, and as a result more fun to play. The level design is about the same, but the improved graphics do give this game more life just like they did with the first one. I guess with some of these new touches, SMB2 is better in the All-Stars version. It is a good deal easier, the stages are more appealing with the better backgrounds and all, so I believe this is an overall upgrade from the original.

Super Mario Bros. 3 10/10: This game is the longest of the 4 games, and that's what made it so fun to play. There was so much content to play through such as: panel line up games, card matching games, Hammer Bros. fights, special items, different types of levels, etc. There were also special items like the Frog Suit, Tanooki Suit, and Hammer Suit that could be used on the different levels. Super Mario Bros. 3 is a great game for the NES and even better on SNES with the save feature. With all this cool content, you needed a way to save everything in case you had to shut it off and go do your homework or something. The NES didn't have that, but this version does and made the original game obsolete also.

Really, the save option made the NES games all obsolete. I rarely ever played SMB3 on that system again throughout early 1994 or the rest of my childhood for that matter. You had a great game to begin with, the save feature improved it and also the upgraded backgrounds gave more life to the levels just like they did in the other games. This is my favorite version of SMB3. The control is still just as smooth, and everything you liked about the original game is still there but better.

When you take all 4 games into consideration, you get a pretty good gameplay experience. Some of the games like: Super Mario Bros. and The Lost Levels aren't that well designed, but the other two Mario games are just as good if not better. The save feature is an improvement in SMB2 and SMB3. I find myself enjoying all of these games even more on the SNES.

Story 8/10: Super Mario All-Stars consists of 4 different stories. Most of the stories of all the games are different and have a different rating.

Super Mario Bros. and The Lost Levels 7/10: Bowser takes over the Mushroom Kingdom and transforms its inhabitants into bricks. He also kidnaps the Mushroom leader Princess Toadstool and holds her hostage in his castle in world 8. Mario must rescue the Princess and restore peace to Mushroom Land. This is a pretty standard storyline, but it did establish the characters of the Mario series.

Super Mario Bros. 2 10/10: Super Mario Bros. 2 takes Mario, Luigi, Toad, and the Princess to Subcon the Land of Dreams. They must free the Subcon people from a giant frog named Wart who has trapped the people in a vase. This is an entirely different plot with new characters and a totally new setting. Not only that, but Luigi, Toad, and the Princess are all playable characters! This was a cool concept that carried over into The SMB Super Show that came on T.V. afterschool in the late '80s and early '90s.

Super Mario Bros. 3 10/10: Bowser is back in this game where he takes over the Mushroom Kingdom once again with the help of his 7 Koopalings. The Koopalings steal the magic wands from the 7 kings of Mushroom Land and turn them into animals. It is up to Mario to get back the wands and restore the kings to their human form, but while Mario is doing this Bowser kidnaps the Princess once again and takes her to his castle in Dark Land. Again, you have a creative plot with new characters like the 7 Koopa kids that would be re-created (and re-named for copyright reasons) for another afterschool cartoon in the early '90s.

The plots for SMB2 and SMB3 are both pretty cool, but for SMB1 and The Lost Levels the stories are pretty generic. Nintendo was still developing the characters in those two games. On average, the storyline for Super Mario All-Stars is good but not great.

Content 10/10: There is no doubt this whole game will take you hours to complete. It is a compilation of 4 games in 1. The original Super Mario Bros. consists of 32 levels, 8 worlds with 4 levels in each, so it isn't that long. However, the Lost Levels is a bit more complex than that, and it contains 13 worlds with 4 levels. Due to the difficulty, it can sometimes take close to 2 hours to finish this game. Playing worlds 1 - 8 without warping will unlock world 9, and after completing this underwater world, you can play the most challenging worlds of the game, worlds A - D. These lettered worlds are brutal in their difficulty and can take many tries to complete.

Luckily, there are no Game Overs in this game, so you can play them as many times as you want. These levels are sort of an extra bonus for those who have already beaten the normal game and rescued the Princess in world 8. At the end of world D, the Princess is rescued again, and she gives Mario a final congratulations. Super Mario Bros. 2 is broken up into 7 worlds with 3 levels in each one except for world 7 which only has 2. It usually takes an hour to an hour and a half to finish this game. The worlds of SMB2 have more variety (however, that is also true for SMB and the Lost Levels in this SNES remake). You also have the choice of playing as Mario, Luigi, Toad, or the Princess in SMB2

Super Mario Bros. 3 is, by far, the longest game of the series and can take up to 3 hours to complete. It's a good thing all these games have save files, and this is where they really come in handy! This game has so much content that includes: Toad Houses, Hammer Bros., card-matching games, panel line-up games, etc. You have the option of skipping a lot of this, but why do that when the game lets you save? SMB3 is what makes Super Mario All-Stars such a long game, but it is still the most enjoyable. This game as a whole is very long, but not that boring considering how you are playing 4 games in 1.

Difficulty 8/10: I have to split up this category of the review into 4 sections also. The save option made games like SMB1 and SMB2 a lot easier in this version. However, The Lost Levels was a very hard game even with the unlimited continues.

Super Mario Bros. 7/10: In the original game on NES, there were no continues. Getting a Game Over meant restarting the game from the beginning. Extra lives were also hard to come by. This version is a lot more forgiving! The unlimited continues also made it more fun to play. They made world 8 a lot more easier because you could just keep playing it again and again until you got it right. When I was younger, I thought SMB was kind of hard in this version, but when compared to the NES version, it wasn't as nearly as bad. The difficulty is moderate to high but not hard.

Super Mario Bros. 2 6/10: The same can be said for difficulty in this game as well. The unlimited continues make things a lot easier. When I played this game on All-Stars, I beat it. I did beat it on NES but not until months after I got it! Like in SMB1, the last world is the hardest, but with the continues, you can play it over and over until you complete it. This version is difficult in a way, but the character selection also helps. So does the fact that after you die, you get the option of selecting a different player.

I thought this game was easier than the previous Mario game on All-Stars because of the character selection, and the way this version slows down the slot machine games at the end of the stages so you can earn more lives. I realized that Super Mario Bros. 2 wasn't that hard as long as you could continue. Characters like Peach made for better control over your platforming, and if you lost a life all your health points were restored and you didn't have to backtrack so far to get back to where you were before you died.

The All-Stars version isn't near as hard! The abundance of lives, characters, continues, and health make this version a lot better. I really came to love the All-Stars and Advance versions of SMB2 so much that the NES version was no longer that important to me except for maybe to listen to the classic music of that game. Things can still be kind of difficult because of how the continues will only save you up to the beginning of the world, but they are better than the crappy continue system in the original!

Super Mario Bros. 3 8/10: This was one game I didn't think was made any easier in this version. You could also continue in the NES version, but it didn't have a save file. The save file in this game is only useful if you have to turn off the game, but it doesn't make it any less difficult. The game is still kind of hard, but it really doesn't get that bad until around world 5. I think both versions are pretty tricky, but it does feel pretty manageable.

SMB The Lost Levels 10/10: I feel like The Lost Levels is a game designed for players who have beaten the other 3 games and are looking for more of a challenge. I could never beat this game as a kid! This was why it didn't get as many plays as the other ones in this game. The platforming is really difficult which starts to be an issue in world 4. From that point onward, it is just plain hard with world 8 being next to impossible with all the walking Hammer Bros. and jumps that are ridiculous! The continue option lets you continue from the your current level, but it almost means nothing the way this game is designed!

I enjoy it now, but as a kid (and a first time player) it was very unpopular back then. With persistence, it can be beat. It is a hard game but still good. I can only imagine how hard the Fanicom version was, but I think it did have continues. This is a hard game only made for hardcore Mario fans like myself!

All of the classic Mario games on NES were pretty challenging. For this remake, SMB1 and SMB2 are easier because of their unlimited continues and better abundance of lives. SMB3 is still pretty tough, and The Lost Levels is insane. Overall, Super Mario All-Stars isn't an easy game. It's still slightly hard, but the difficulty still isn't that unreasonable.

Overall 9.2/10: Super Mario All-Stars is a fine collection of classic Mario games. These old school games from the 1980s have been reworked with the 16-bit graphics and sound of the 1990s SNES gaming system. There was a good deal of content in The Lost Levels that had never been experienced by American gamers. A lot of classic Mario gamers like myself enjoy the challenge of that game and still love playing the classic Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Super Nintendo with the save files.  However, when you average all the games together, Super Mario All-Stars isn't as much fun to play as games like Super Mario World.

I was playing both games on my new Super Nintendo at the same time in early 1994, but found myself playing Super Mario World more. I guess a lot of that had to do with Super Mario All-Stars mainly just being remakes of Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 which I already had on NES. These versions were better because of the upgraded graphics and save files. I finally got to play the first Mario game and liked it too. The Lost Levels was my least favorite but isn't so bad now. I consider both Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World to be about equal with SMW still winning out.

Whoa Whoa Mario   sdslayer100
This game is by far the hardest Mario game I have ever played. It all starts off with the fact that you can not really beat the game. You can beat the 4 games inside of it. The game is very fun. Instead of categories I will give brief opinions in the descriptions of the games.
Super Mario Bros. 1
This game was a classic. It was one of my favorites. I like how Nintendo made the graphics differently. It has the classic Mario story. Bowser kidnapped the princess. Mario then saves her. It has 8 worlds and 4 levels in each. It also has a total of 32 levels.
Super Mario Bros. 2
I do not get the purpose of this game. I do not know if there is a story or not. It has 7 worlds and 3 in each(except for World 7, which has 2 levels). It has a total of 20 levels.
Super Mario Bros. 3
This game in my opinion is the best. This game has the same story and way more levels.
The level list is:
World 1: 8 Levels
World 2: 9 Levels
World 3: 12 Levels
World 4: 9 Levels
World 5: 13 Levels
World 6: 14 Levels
World 7: 14 Levels
World 8: 11 Levels
It has a total of 90 levels. NINETY LEVELS!!!
Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Lost Levels)
This game is also one of my favorites. I really wish I owned this game. There is not much else to really say about this game.
This was my review of Super Mario All-Stars. Thank you for reading my review and have a nice day.

I love Super Mario games. I remember when I had a physical copy of Super Mario All Stars. I used to spend hours upon hours playing this game. Mario is such an awesome character. His games are just fantastic. And the music is amazing as well. I love this.
