Here we goooooo!!   Pacman+Mariofan
Introduction
Welcome to my review of Super Mario 64, one of my favorite games of all-time, and it has been for several years! It was my first 3D Mario game I ever played. I fell in love with the unique gameplay it offers. Here’s what makes this game so legendary and lovable!
Story
7/10
Princess Peach got kidnapped again. But this time, she had baked a cake for Mario first, so it’s original. Well at least there’s an interesting plot with how Mario has to save her. He has to get Power Stars that unlock doors and keys that unlock different parts of the castle. He has to get 70 stars to break the curse of the endless stairs so he can face Bowser for the third time in the game.
Graphics
9/10
It blows my mind how this game looks. Again, I had never played a 3D Mario game before playing this, so I couldn’t believe I was seeing everything in 3D and playing these huge worlds. I love the detail on these enemies especially King Whomp and… ooh Bowser looks COOL! Too bad I have to fight him, right?
I still enjoy looking at the attention to detail in the backgrounds and other graphics for these courses. Wet-Dry World has a neat city background, and Rainbow Ride has rainbows everywhere for some reason! The stars are pretty, and it is so satisfying to grab one of those shiny yellow stars. Certain graphics such as the signs are nothing special, but that’s fine. The designers of this game clearly tried.
Animation
8/10
I really like the special effects this game has to offer, such as the sparkly-thingies that accompany Mario when he returns from a course. Mario’s movement is nice, and many animations make things in this game exciting. Riding on a Koopa shell is so hype! What an amazing explosion it is when Bowser hits a bomb. BOOM!!!
My only problem with the animation in this game is that certain things either don’t appear or don’t look right when they are far away. Mario’s face and head makes a weird shape when he’s facing the camera and he’s far away. Also, sometimes I can’t see something until I’m pretty close to it because it doesn’t load until I step into a certain spot. There’s a certain Bob-omb near the Chain Chomp’s Gate that appears at the last second. When I’m collecting coins for the 100-coin star, I sometimes can’t see rings of coins until I’m really close (usually a ring is when 8 coins form a circle). The animations are super cool when they show up though. One of my favorites is when Mario does the “I-got-a-star” dance.
Depth
10/10
This game is MASSIVE. There are 15 main courses which are pretty huge and 105 of the stars come from those levels, and there are several side courses which the other 15 stars come from. The Princess’s Secret Slide even has 2 stars! This game has a lot of really creative missions that make each level be time-consuming (unless you’re like me and you know plenty of shortcuts).
There are many boss fights, red coin stars, and secret stars throughout the main courses. Some stars require a Cap power to get (unless you’re like me and you know plenty of shortcuts). To top it off, each main course has a scavenger hunt where you have to collect 100 coins from the level. For some courses, this is challenging because they only have so many coins. Jolly Roger Bay only has 104 I think, and Dire Dire Docks is also low on coins. However, there are some courses that people can REALLY have a ball with when it comes to coin collecting. Tiny-Huge Island has a very generous amount of coins, and so does Tick-Tock Clock.
Difficulty
8/10
This game starts off pretty difficult. I remember when I first was playing this game, and I got stuck on the first star where you face King Bob-omb. It took me a while to figure out how to pick him up and throw him down to beat him. Bob-omb Battlefield is the first course in the game, and it still today takes me longer to finish than most of the courses. Everything is scattered throughout the course, and when you make a mistake, it can really cost you.
The rest of the game has a pretty balanced difficulty, and it gets more difficult as it goes. More crazy platforming, more fast-paced and strategic boss battles, and less room for error. Rainbow Ride is the last main course in the game, and after playing this game for several years, it’s still hard for me to beat it without falling off at least twice. And I take shortcuts, for pete’s sake. The final level, Bowser in the Sky, is very hard. So many crazy jumps and obstacles. And for the final Bowser fight, instead of having to throw Bowser once, you have to throw him THREE TIMES. After all these years, I am still TERRIBLE at Bowser throws. Oh man.
Addictiveness
10/10
I have come back to this game WAY more than any other. With the variety of missions, the timed challenges like racing Koopa the Quick and going down The Princess’s Secret Slide, and more, I am hooked to this game. I needed an excuse to keep playing it, so I have learned to speedrun it. It’s such a fun adrenaline rush, and I can now beat the game, all 120 stars, in a little over 2 hours. It’s fun to see what glitches I can do (this game is sooo broken), and the levels have so much fun platforming that never gets old for me.
By the way, about the glitches, one thing that keeps me coming to this game is that I know the backward long-jump (BLJ) glitch. So I can speedrun 120 star the normal way, but I can also beat the game with 31 stars in less than 25 minutes by skipping the last 2 star doors. But yeah, the game itself is incredibly fun with its loose controls and many missions.
Sound Effects
10/10
D’OH! I will never ever ever get enough of the Mario voice clips in this game! For almost everything he does, Mario speaks. I still laugh at the “HWHOA-WUH!” sound he says when he falls and/or takes damage. It’s satisfying to hear him say, “HERE WE GOOOO!” when I get a star.
The other sound effects are cool too. The enemies have some pretty funny sound effects, and it’s SUPER fun to break stuff in this game. There’s even a sound for when Mario slides down a hill or slope. And I like the swimming sound.
Music
8/10
The songs in this game are masterpieces. They are very energetic for the most part, and they all fit the levels they are in extremely well. The castle theme makes it great to be walking around the castle, so it isn’t boring. The Cool, Cool Mountain theme has a Christmasy feel to it, and it is great music for a snow level.
The music in this game can get repetitive quickly, though. The same theme plays for Bob-omb Battlefield, Whomp’s Fortress, Tall Tall Mountain, and Tiny-Huge Island. The same theme plays for Jolly Roger Bay, Dire Dire Docks, and The Secret Aquarium. The same theme plays for Cool, Cool Mountain and Snowman’s Land (OK, this one isn’t too bad with the repetition). The same theme plays for Hazy Maze Cave, Cavern of the Metal Cap, the Snowman’s Land Igloo, Wet-Dry World, and the Tiny-Huge Island Wiggler’s Cavern. All the Bowser courses have the same theme. And finally, for the most repetitive theme by far: the same theme plays in the Tower of the Wing Cap, The Princess’s Secret Slide, Vanish Cap Under the Moat, the Tall Tall Mountain slide, and ALL THREE COURSES in the very top part of the castle: Wing Mario Over the Rainbow, Tick-Tock Clock, and Rainbow Ride. That’s 7 TIMES that theme plays in this game. That’s a bit much.
Despite there not being a lot of songs for this game, the songs that are there are quite nice to listen to, and it isn’t actually that annoying to hear them again and again. It’s just crazy to me how much some of these themes play. Oh, and thankfully, there are some songs that just play once, such as Bowser’s final theme, and the music for Big Boo’s Haunt.
Overall Rating
70/80 OR 88% -- a B
This game hasn’t aged too well when you look at modern 3D Mario games, but it’s still a classic. It is one of the most iconic Mario games of all time, and it is extremely enjoyable to play and watch. I hope you enjoyed reading this review!

Super Mario 64 Review - Here we Go!   claytune
Super Mario 64 will always be one of my favorite games of all time so I can't promise I'll be completely not biased but I'll give it a shot. Also this is only the second time I've ever written a review and the last one was four years ago so feedback would be appreciated.
Gameplay 7/10 -
Mario's move set is designed in a way where you have lots of movement options between the long jump, triple jump, back flip, dive, as well as the wall kicks. While most of the movement options are fun, the wall kicks can be finicky to work with sometimes where you just hit the wall swear you timed it and nothing happens. Finally while still talking about game play I want to mention that the camera is the main reason this section is not rated higher the camera can be the death of you when you try to turn it and it decides it doesn't wanna work with you they tried to prevent this by adding a camera option to always follow behind Mario but it's situational at best.
Graphics 6/10 -
This is admittedly where the game has aged the worst it clearly shows this was one of the first three dimensional games. The polygon count is extremely low on most character models, however to be fair to the game developers they weren't working with a lot and the game was a launch title so they were working with new hardware.
Sound 6/10 -
The tracks in this game are great to listen to while playing the game they fit the levels well, the only issue is that many tracks in the game are used in at least three levels so after a while the music can become repetitive. Mario's voice clips are very cheerful and enjoyable to hear, he also has idle voice clips which is funny to hear the first time if you were to walk away and come back to it.
Addictive 10/10 -
This game can be played so many times while getting the stars in different orders every time there's something about it that can drag you back in time and time again.
Something about the mostly up to you order of the stars makes replays feel fresh when you can go for stars you like first or maybe you feel like going after ones you don't like first just having that choice makes the game fun to replay. You don't even have to get the stars in the levels in order most of the time you can go out of order in the levels if you know where to find the star.
Story 4/10 -
The story is basic but that's to be expected with a Mario game. Princess Peach invites Mario to the castle for cake but when he get's there he finds Bowser has taken over the castle and it's power stars and it's up to Mario to beat Bowser and get the cake he was promised.
Depth 9/10 -
The game offers one hundred twenty power stars to collect as well as fifteen main levels that all feel big and expansive for the hardware it's on. With so many power stars it can be time consuming when you're new to the game and have to discover the secrets for yourself.
Difficulty 7/10 -
The game can be surprisingly difficult at times mostly when it comes to searching an entire level for one hundred coins and not dying to something along the way. Besides that most of the levels aren't that hard or time consuming besides the last two Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride these two levels can be very challenging to scale to the top in search of stars but it feels very fun and rewarding to do so.
Overall 8/10 -
To finish I have to say this game is a major reason why three dimensional games took off the way they did and also did an outstanding job moving the Mario series to the third dimension, so even with it's flaws it will always be an iconic game.

"A great game for it's time, but will it's hype still live up in today's gaming world?"   sonicthehedgeho..
The year is 1996 and Nintendo is back with it's newest and greatest achievement the Nintendo 64 and they kicked off the brand new system by releasing their first Mario game for the N64 called Super Mario 64.  While this game may not have been as big of a hit as another game on the system known as Zelda Ocarina of Time but that was made 2 years later in 1998 and besides it still held alot of promise and was a great game as it took the Mario series from it's 2-D roots and made it into a 3-D game. But one question remains does this game still live up to its hype that it had in 1996 well let's see by starting this review so as Mario would say "Let's A Go!".
Graphics: 8 out of 10
Nintendo did an amazing job on the graphics for this game as like I stated they turned Mario from a 2-D perspective into a 3-D perspective which is no easy task especially in 1996. Each one of stages in this game has its graphics fit its scenery perfectly as Lethal Lava Land's has large pits of lava surrounding the map, Shifting Sand Land's stages is completely covered with sand as well as having sand pits and pokey's galore, and even Dire Dire Docks with it's underwater scenery. Mario's Animations also are displayed perfectly through out the course of the game as when you're running low on health, Mario starts to get winded/tired and starts breathing heavily. This would be a 10 out of 10 if it weren't for the fact that we must judge this game based on other games that the system has to offer like Banjo Kazooie or Conker's Bad Fur Day and because of this I'm going to have to give Super Mario 64 an 8 out of 10 for graphics.
Sound: 10 out of 10
Even though the graphics might not have blown some people off their feet, the music more than makes up for its set-back of visuals. The Mario series is well known for having nostalgic and unforgettable soundtracks and this game is no exception with one of the levels songs being the most familiar with gamers, that song is the theme of the level Dire Dire Docks which alot of people consider to be one of the greatest video game songs of all time. This however isn't the only song that some people may love from this game as I personally have other favorites such as the main track from the level  Bomb-omb Battlefield, The Wing-Cap Music, The Boss Battle Music, and even the Whomp's Fortress main theme as well. The sound effects in this game were also greatly mastered and shows how much work Nintendo put into this game during it's development as when you ground pound/jump onto a goomba you actually get a sound like you're squishing something or when you kick a koopa back you get the sound of them flying back which is a nice touch to this game, an amazing job in the sound department so a perfect 10 out of 10 is what I'm giving the sound for Super Mario 64.
Addictiveness: 7 out of 10
Now let me just state this right now because it is something important that you need to know before you play this "If you don't like collect-a-thon type games then DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME" Because this game is a collect-a-thon kind of similar to Banjo-Kazooie. If you do not mind playing these kind of games then you will probably find this game to very addictive with it's entertaining music, nice graphics, and entertaining gameplay. I personally think this is a great game to play but not for several hours as it can get kind of boring after a while to just keep collecting stars so I would probably give this game a fair rating of 7 out of 10 for addictiveness.
Story: 7 out of 10
The story in this game is much different compared to the previous games, yes princess peach is kidnapped by bowser but in order to rescue her you have to collect the power stars that are hidden through-out the castle in various levels. The story starts off as Princess Peach sends Mario a letter saying that she has baked a cake for him and is waiting for him at the castle, however once he arrives at the castle a lakitu flies down and immediately warns Mario that Princess Peach has been kidnapped by Bowser and that he must go rescue her by collecting these so called power stars. So you must traverse over lands of fire, through treacherous oceans, over mountains of sand, and even through haunted houses in order to bring the rotten koopa king Bowser down in defeat. It is an interesting story and an improvement over the other games but there still could have been room for more inside the story so I'd say another 7 out of 10 is what the story of this game deserves in my own personal opinion.
Depth: 10 out of 10
This is definitely not a game that you can just pick up and finish within just a few hours you really have to put your time into this game as there are many levels in this game actually 15 levels to be exact, there are 120 stars in the entire game and most of them you will find inside the levels but there are actually some hidden inside the castle as well. Although there are 120 stars total inside the game only 70 are actually needed to complete the game and there is only really 1 advantage to getting all 120 stars in the game, that is if you go to the cannon in the courtyard when you have all the stars in the game the grate that is usually covering the cannon will be gone and if you shoot towards the castle and land on top of it then you will find Yoshi and he will give you 100 lives which you can use however you want. This game has alot of depth and it does take a while to beat so another perfect 10 out of 10 is what I'm giving the depth for this game.
Difficulty: 4 out of 10
Let's be honest here this has to be one of the easiest Mario games compared to the previous games as there are many ways to collect extra lives in this game and the bosses and missions aren't that hard to complete as once you understand what you have to do it's pretty easy to win your star. The controls are tight and easy to use so this game doesn't have any faults in that regard, I do think that if it had a little more difficulty added to the game it would have been alot better so I think the difficulty only deserves a 4 out of 10 since like I said this isn't a hard Mario game.
That's Super Mario 64 a game that made people fall in love with the Nintendo 64 and as I stated in the introduction to this review, even though it wasn't as much of a huge hit as Ocarina of Time it still was great for being one of the N64's launch titles and besides this game was release 2 years before that Zelda game so the programmers weren't really used to making games for the N64 yet but they still made a great game. Well I think it's time for this review to come to an end as I have to get busy collecting those stars and saving Peach from the claws of bowser so as our good old hero mario would say "See You Next Time!".

Super Mario 64 - Nintendo 64

A review by iN008.
What can I say?
As I said, what can be said that hasn't already been said about this game, it was a game changer, a revolutionary game from plat forming to camera controlling. Mario had been around gaming for quite some time during the time of this games release, 15 long years had passed since his grand debut in arcade classic Donkey Kong and over that time many changes were made within the gaming system, each game that came out brought a lot to the table, such as Super Mario Bros. Setting the standard of gameplay to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Worlds large improvements in the system. The same rule was not missed with the release of Super Mario 64.
Known for its brilliance.
Super Mario 64 was one of the two launch titles for the Nintendo 64 (one of the three in Japan) and became the best selling Nintendo 64 game, becoming Critically acclaimed along the way. It became known for it's innovation in graphics, the music and even setting the basis of camera control as we know of it today. Being one of the first 3D Mario games it has now aged quite a lot, but it did eventually lead to later 3D titles including that of Super Mario Sunshine. The game however didn't go without it's fair share of criticism, from how fast it aged, to the camera being a bit jerkish. However I never found these to be a problem as nostalgia is a very large influence. Even playing the game on the DS still triggers nostalgia. So your probably wondering what I think of the game. Well I have a my own share of nit-picks and a lot of thumbs up so lets continue into this review shall we.?
Graphics and Design : 10/10
Super Mario 64 was one of the launch titles and it really did set the standard for graphics in games to come. The graphical design is near perfect in Super Mario 64. First off Mario looks great for his first time ever in 3D, his model set the standard amongst the other models within the game and many of them were just as good. The colors used on the models were bright and colorful, pleasing to the eye which was great. Enemies were also just as good in 3D, heck even Bowser looked pretty good. Of-course the graphics didn't just consist of models, so yeah... models aside... The levels within the game were all fantastic and colorful, each of which seemed to sport a color theme, for example Shifting Sand Land featured a lot of yellow and brown colors, this was pretty awesome, another example would be Dire, Dire Docks which featured mainly blues and blue-greys. Overall the levels looked amazing and they were all quite pleasing. So all in all the graphics and design within the game were amazing, they rarely had any faults and set quite the standard for games to come. It's definitely deserving of a 10 out of 10.
Sound : 10/10
The sound within Super Mario 64 is by far one of the best in any Mario games up until Sunshine. The soundtrack was composed by Koji Kondo and he did a fantastic job on it. It was just pure fantastic, featuring many upbeat and enjoyable soundtracks within. Heck I'll go as far as saying Super Mario 64 has my favorite soundtrack for any of the Nintendo 64 games. Each track is unique and upbeat. All of which are enjoyable. Most levels feature their own track which I find extremely charming. Even more is the fact that all of the tracks sound great even today, they don't hold up as well as that of Chrono Trigger, but still holds up extremely well today. The sound effects used are pretty decent in all regards. Ever jump slide and etc sounds pretty good and is practically flawless, there are a few nit-picks I want to make however, I myself find Mario's voice pretty annoying, but besides the occasional "woohoo" it never really bothered me all that much so I think I'll say it's pretty decent. My favorite track without a doubt at all has to be Piranha Plant's Lullaby (Link), it is such a beautiful little track full of charm. It's soothing and is by far the nicest of all the tracks within the game. I like how it picks up a bit more memento during the middle and it really does sound like a Lullaby which, even though it sounds easy to accomplish, has been done awfully so many times before. So I will say this the sound is by no mean bad, heck is practically perfect, each track is unique and enjoyable, some tracks stand out from the rest but are still great. So I do indeed feel that the sound deserves a solid 10.
Addictiveness and Replay-ability : 9/10
The game offers quite a lot when it comes addictiveness and Replay-ability. From it's general addictiveness to the times you can replay the game. So what exactly does it offer on those regards? Well firstly the game has quite the replay-ability factor, there are 120 stars in all and it does revisit locations frequently however that doesn't stop you from replaying the game, it's still fun regardless of how many times you've done so before. Heck with the re-make for the Nintendo DS it adds a lot of extra stars so it's worth buying for that system if you want a even bigger replay-ability. Of-course the original can still be replayed as you can set yourself challenges, speed-runs and even finding secrets to finishing the levels faster. Every play-through allows you to learn something new and that statement remains even today. Replay-ability is definitely there. As for Addictiveness the game is extremely addictive it encourages you to play more, to get all the stars, to find the secrets it's just that addictive, be it that satisfaction of completion or just getting a star the game is just fun to play and enjoyable. Your attention can drift into the game and you can even lose track of time. It's just fantastically good and really offers so much more than a lot of the Nintendo 64 titles. I found it far more enjoyable and time-consuming when compared to that of Star Fox 64 or even dare I say it, Ocarina of Time. So with all that said, I definitely say it deserves a solid 9, of-course your wondering why I'm knocking a point of? Well sometimes the game can be a little tedious such as the 100-coin missions. But besides that it's definitely a 9 without a doubt.
Depth : 10/10
This game as stated before offers a lot, and I mean a lot. It has so much to it and it's just great all together. The game is quite long at 120 stars, and offers a lot of content, for example it really gets a lot out of each stage, many of the stars can take a good amount of time get and I feel as if the length is pretty good in that retrospect, however some missions are extremely short and this is one of the downsides when it boils down to the games overall length. However the game does offer quite a bit of choices, you can choose which level you want to tackle, if you can get passed one mission you can go elsewhere meaning if you get stuck you can simple go to another painting and continue playing, this is pretty great as the hub usually has two or more paintings or portals close-by to each other. There is more choice within the game, you see you have the ability to get stars for missions that you are not currently on, this to me was pretty cool as it added a hidden layer of choice. Finally the experience you gain from this game is by no means lacking, heck it's practically phenomenal. You can challenge missions and boss fights at your own pace. You never feel rushed to do anything, this is quite a change as many of the previous Mario titles where extremely linear, even in Super Mario World you eventually went down through all the paths. This game just allows for so much more choice and that's why it felt so much more innovative. Your experience surely won't be anything short of phenomenal that's pretty much all I can say there.
Story : 7/10
Well this is really where the game falls short, as it is widely known, Mario is not known for extraordinary stories, this game is no exception, it does throw in some changes into the system but it really isn't anything that much. Starting off you receive an invitation from Princess Toadstool (Peach) to come and get cake. Yes.... cake.... Isn't that something? You arrive at the castle to find out browser has kidnapped the Princess and Lakitu is now your camera... but the same old story starts, you set off to save the princess, how original Nintendo. After a lot of star collecting you eventually have the final fight, beat Browser and save the Princess, and you finally get that cake. So all in all the story is pretty lack-luster, this was pretty much the standard up until Sunshine so I'm not going to say anything against the formula. It works after all. But it wouldn't hurt for some change. Besides the story, the atmosphere felt different, being in the castle it felt different, I really can't explain it all that well but it just felt, weird, sure it's still the same story and it's not unusual for Bowser to take control of Peach's castle but it still has an eerie aura to it. So sure yes the story was over-done, over-used, over-everything, but it still worked one last time, it was okay and to be honest it really is what you would expect from Mario at the time. So overall I do think a 7 out of 10 is fair on those grounds. Sure it had lots, and I mean lots of room for improvement, but the regular old formula worked so I'm glad they kept it there but still at the same time disappointed at it.
Difficulty and Gameplay : 7/10
I wouldn't say the game was in anyway difficult, however it was still challenging at times. The gameplay itself was pretty solid, the game was easy enough to control in the 3D environment and the controls supported this. There was some nice mechanics through-out the game, along with some one-offs like the whole time stuff with Tick Tock Clock. This was pretty cool. Besides the one-off mechanics the level designs themselves were extremely good, offering a lot of exploration, most of them were of reasonable size so getting lost wasn't that difficult as you would eventually find your way from A to B. I like the fact there was quite a few secrets here and there which added quite a lot of mystery when going into a level which was really great and enjoyable. As for battle mainly with Bowser it was pretty so-so. It was nothing epic but it worked, getting harder each encounter, usually this would get a bit boring but the battle itself was pretty fun, the last battle had the stage collapse around the edges and added so much more intensity it was just so much fun. But as for the difficulty itself, levels got harder the further into the game you were, Rainbow Road was much harder than Bomb-omb battlefield. The difficulty curve was just perfect in my opinion and it allowed for those of all ages to get into the game and complete it. The controls themselves was pretty good, sure the camera would every so often jerk but it wasn't that bad, and the controls were pretty solid all round. The difficult and gameplay is getting a 7, it feels as if this is the right score as the difficulty is so-so and the gameplay has it's twitches, it's pretty good overall.
Overall : 8.8/10
This game is just fantastic, however you want to play your will more or likely enjoy it if your into plat-formers. Heck if your looking for a game to introduce you to 3D platforming this is a pretty good one to play, I would recommend playing the remake for the Nintendo DS as it offers more stars and more challenge than this one, but if you can't get that then this one will do. If you want a fun game then this one is for you.

Super Mario 64 Review   Zircron Swift
Ok, I know I've been putting this off for a long time, but I'm finally going to play Super Mario 64. When Mario leaped to the third dimension in 1996, some people were skeptical. Mario was already a near perfect 2D side scrolling platformer, why ruin that by making it in 3D? I would have certainly felt the same way. It was like playing Rayman 1 then playing Rayman 2. At first, it didn't seem right. However, when you started playing the game, instantly it became a classic to remember for years to come. Let's have a look then into the game and see what really makes it timeless, and why people love this game so much.
Now, normally I start with the story, but before I can even set up a save file, a huge 3D Mario head pops up. Not only that, but he talks. As far as my gaming history goes, this was the first time we ever hear Mario speak (and not just cry like in Super Mario World 2). You could see some animations to show what the N64 was capable of, like sparkly starts bouncing off Mario's head as he can't do anything to stop them (it is just his head, nothing else), that was pretty charming, but the real charm gets to me as I set up a file save. See the wooden style layout, the different colours, hear the music in the background. This gives me a mixed feeling of simplicity and style, and not to mention untold mystery.  This screamed out loud that the game had a ton of secrets waiting to be discovered. I wanted to start a save file, but I also wanted to stay here, just in case something were to happen. I don't know what would, but I felt like it was going to happen. After ten minutes of waiting, I decided to just play the game.
The game starts off with you, Mario, receiving a letter from Princess Peach, asking you to come on over, she even made cake. Of course, you can't say no to that and make your way over to the castle via the iconic green pipe. The game does a huge rotation of the castle as a Lakitu with a camera records the settings. That's odd, an annoying enemy from previous games is being helpful and is controlling the camera for you. As you come out of the green pipe, you can start playing. This was one of the first games to incorporate in-game instructions. You could walk up to a sign, and read it to know what to do. Of course, the instruction booklet was there as well, but who reads those? Having it in-game would mean more people would know how to play the game.
You are free to explore the grounds. You might not be able to do much there, but having the freedom to do so makes an incredible environment to play with. It's also the perfect place to practice all the skills you'll need for the game ahead. As you enter the castle, you will notice that the princess has been kid-napped by the infamous Bowser and with it, all the Power Stars in the castle, making it impossible for you to get to the top. You need to collect these Power Stars in order to open doors. These doors will lead to more Power Stars, which will lead you, eventually, to Bowser, Princess Peach, and that cake you were promised. Now, I want to ask a few questions before we go on.
First off, where is the King and Queen of the Mushroom Kingdom? I have never seen them, nor do I think I ever will. If this is the case, should Princess Peach be Queen Peach? If there isn't a King or Queen ruling over the Kingdom, then that would make the Princess a Queen! Second off, why did Bowser only kid-napped Princess Peach? All over the castle, there are Toads. Why did Bowser leave them all behind? To annoy me as much as possible? Or did he just doesn't want them? And why do they fade in and out when you come close to them? Are they ghosts? Did Bowser savagely murder them all and their ghosts are trying to help Mario to get revenge? Na, that last one is too dark for a Nintendo game (excluding Mother 3, of course). Now, to be fair, the Toads don't speak in this game, which makes them very cute and loveable. It's when they talk that they annoy the heck out of me (thankfully that doesn't happen until Mario Kart 64, topping it with him being the best racer in the game......Urrrgggg......Must.....Suppress...Rage....).
Now that I have that out of the way.....You can explore doors so long as you have enough Power Stars. In that door is either another section of the castle (which I swear is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside), or a room with a level in. This is normally in the form of a painting. You jump in the painting and you start the level. I know, a little far fetched, but for some reason, it makes sense. This can range from anywhere from a watery level, to a desert level, to a fiery lava level, to an ice level, to even a huge clock. The list goes on, but that's not all. In the game are hidden Power Stars. If you explore enough, you'll come across a secret level within the castle, and with it, a hidden Power Star. These stars were the ones Bowser couldn't find when storming the castle. Since the castle and it's levels are full to the brim with secrets, you'll have a fun time exploring every nook and cranny to find each and every one of them. Be sure to look out for the secret coloured boxes.
The world of this game is very rich to explore. There are eight Power Stars in every normal level, six of them are acquired via defeating a boss, or getting to the top of a giant ice penguin, or setting a chin chompa free. One is found when you collect all eight red coins in the level, and the last one is found when you collect at least 100 normal coins in a level, which is easier said than done. When your exploring the level, you might come across a nice secret like the teleporting flowers, which adds to the game play when you think you've found it all. Some places in the castle might seem useless at first, but then as you defeat Boswer the first time, you'll notice a Boo, and you follow it and bam, another level for you. You know, the one with the star, and the plaque that says "Eternal Star" on it.....Wait....is that an L? L to Rest 2401 M MM r? What does that mean? Well, I did a bit of research, and it (supposedly) is meant to say "L is real 2401", and the bottom line is just gibberish. They say if you can collect every coin in the game, you will end up with 2401 coins in total, and given the chance to play as Mario's brother, Luigi. As I search this up further, it was just a hoax. You don't get even get 2100 coins when you collect every coin, and even if you did, Luigi isn't a playable character. As I take a step back, I do see the "eternal star" wording, although the text underneath it is still gibberish to me.
The graphics of this game are a little blocky. They're going to be, it's one of the first N64 games out there, but for some reason, I can't bring myself to hate them (not that I would). The colour choice fits the level designed. For example, the Lava level is very "stuffy" feeling with the red clouds and lava everywhere, while the Ice level generally feels like it's snowed in your room with the freezing feeling when you go in the water. I really did feel I was whisked away into a new, eerie, and completely unnatural world when I was in the first level with Bowser. It's quite hard to make the graphics on its own make you feel like your in the game, as normally the game play and music help with that. I can't hate that face on Mario. All the graphics in this game are either charming you, or they are creating an appropriate environment.
The music is very catchy when it wants to be, but quite sinister as well. The music you get when you obtain a star is a great sensation. It feels like I've achieved something pretty spectacular, like I really am getting one step closer to rescuing the Princess. The hub world music is quite calming, so much so, I nearly flinched when the tone changed when trying to open the start door with Bowser laughing in the background, even if it was for a brief second. Since the levels are big, it makes you glad the music is very enjoyable to hear over and over as you explore the vast area of each and every level.
The controls are surprisingly fluid. Each move is easy to execute (after a little practice), and the camera is very smooth to move. You just press on the yellow arrows on the right of the controller to move it, and what's better, it moves a big section at a time, so you can quickly move the camera and fight the enemy head on almost instant. Now, this would be a pain if you needed the camera pointing in a certain direction and the yellow arrows always over shoot the angel you want, but the truth is, I've never had the problem. if you wanted to move the camera more precisely, then there is a mode for that.
Overall, I give this game a 9.7/10       This is the highest rating I have ever given to a game. Does this mean I consider it the best game ever? Not really. Although it is a absolute joy to play, some other games top this slightly for me. I have given this rating, however, because it differently is the best 3D platformer I have ever played. It is the perfect example of a 3D platformer, a rich world to explore, secrets around every corner, very enjoyable graphics and music, a fair difficulty setting that is challenging to those who haven't played 3D platformers before, but still provides a challenge for the avid gamer looking to collect every star, and easy to use controls. Top that with that old charm of Mario, have some adorable and menacing enemies, insert some factors of danger and you got yourself an instant classic that many will consider a masterpiece of not only then, but for the present and always will be in the future.

Super mario 64 review   General OFG
Hello and welcome to General OFG's Super Mario 64 review
This is a long waited review for me because it's one of the first N64 games that i have ever played and its in fine shape to today's standards. So before i start i want to point out that this game has aged pretty well over the past 18 years so of course it might have some glitches or the graphics look like cardboard but for its time the graphics where pretty dang good. So lets get started with my review of Super Mario 64.
So starting off we start up our game with a 3D Mario face and you can mess around with it or start up your game. Starting up your game you have save files that are empty at first when you start up one of the files the game begins with a cut scene where Princess Peach sends Mario a letter to come eat some cake she made and thus your adventure begins. When you start playing the graphics may look like some cardboard that has been painted over the game has aged pretty well so its easy to expect that. The game play is smooth the camera angles are not the best and playing on a keyboard is harder due to this game being designed for a analog stick. I really don't care about the graphic but since the game has aged i will give the graphics a <4> for a rating.
This game has some great sound effects and don't make me mention the music its really good. The sounds you hear in the background like birds chirping and water flowing it sound beautiful and soothing. The sound effects for getting hurt, enemies making sounds, going underwater, etc sound really good. Now let's get into the music the music sounds amazing for a Mario game like Peaches castle, boss battles, levels, and the main theme sound really good this is why i'm giving it the rating of <10>.
This game never gets boring its really fun of course it's a 3D Mario game it's amazing. So what makes the game grab the players attention is the soundtrack i need to put the game on full volume to make the game experience 10x better. Also the countless hours of fun exploring a 3D Mario world is a never ending adventure. The boss battles make you want to play the game more and the closer you get to the end the more intense it is really addicting. I can say that it has amazing level designs from grassy plains to a scary castle that's what makes this game amazing i will give the addictivenes a <10>.
The story line is the same Bowser always steals the princes and Mario needs to save her the story couldv'e been better but that doesn't make the game bad since it's so good.there is really nothing else to say about the story because it's self explanatory.
The depth of the game goes some were here its a 3D world to explore how much better can it get. i spent countless hours playing this game due to the story thinking about it makes me want to play it right now. The game is really long it will take about 3 or 4 days to beat as standard mostly it took me a week because i am slow at playing some times. You can never get enough of this game and you wont regret playing this. So the rating for this game i will give it a <9>.
The difficulty for this game is fairly decent but it gets harder sometimes especially if you are using a keyboard. I could have some tough times and challenges but it makes the game much better. I fairly think this game is very easy the second time you play it so i will give this games difficulty a <7>.
Extras: This game has been a part of my childhood for a while now that is why it has a special place in my heart it's been a good review that took me about 30 minutes to write so thank you for reading this review and hopefully i will get rated on this.
This game has been reviewed by General OFG more review coming soon Metroid, Pokemon Crystal, Sonic the Hedgehog and more.

Super Mario 64 Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 9.8
Super Mario 64 is one of the greatest games I have ever played on the Nintendo 64.  It is a very adventurous game and has great interests that people enjoy.  I remember playing this when I was little and I would only play the first level of the game and I would have no idea what to do next (I was very young at that point).  Now that I play it at my age, I seem to have gotten a whole lot better.  I could beat the whole game and it was a lot of fun.  This game takes more than a day to beat, trust me.  Now when I play it a lot of times, I could now get every single star in the game.  I have never done that before on Super Mario 64, but now I do and I entirely beaten and gotten all the stars FOUR times.  That is how fun the game is.
Graphics - 10
I should not say this cause I am not sure if it is true or not, but I am going to say it.  I think that this is the first Mario game to be in 3D.  The graphics are a bit bad, but it is understandable since it is an old game.  The effects are very good and it is very awesome.
Sound - 10
The music is awesome.  It has a lot of different songs played in the background.  Some are played more than once in different levels.  My favorite is the one in Jolly Rogers Bay.  It is so smooth and relaxing, kind of water-related if you ask me.  The sound effects is what you expect in a Mario game.  Mario actually makes sound effects when he does an action like jumping and grabbing.  The sounding is very good.
Addictiveness - 10
Like I said, I have beaten this game completely four times.  That is how addicting it is.  I would play it all the time and if I had a chance to play it at a game store (which is probably unlikely to happen), I would play it.  This game just brings back a lot of memories and I seem to keep playing it on this very day.
Story - 9
The story is pretty much what you would see in a Mario game.  Peach invites Mario to her castle for a party or something and when he gets there, Lakitu (the flying camera dude) goes up to Mario and tells him that the princess is captured by Bowser.  Now everyone seems to enjoy this story in most of the Mario games, but they seem to change it on this very day.  I would not say entirely, but they would add something in the story nowadays.  Anyways, Mario has to save Princess Peach from Bowser and what he has to do is collect stars in different worlds to be able to get to where Bowser is.
Depth - 9
The game has a lot of features.  For instance, you can move around in this game.  Not a lot of old Mario games do that, but you can just walk around and do anything.  Another thing is that there are items that Mario and gets like turn into metal, the ability to fly, and become invisible.  Those are very useful in some levels.  Also, there are items in the game like a floating heart that can fill your health, mushrooms in the game that are 1-Ups, and cannons for where you can shoot yourself anywhere you desire.  I really like using the cannon cause it is fun to throw yourself everywhere.  Another thing is when you start the game up, you will see Mario say "hello" and from there on, you can hit any button and you will see a cursor that you can use.  You can use it on Mario to move his face.  When you hold the L: or R button and you move his face around, it will stay like that.  It is very fun and this was a very good idea of putting in the game.  Makes the game even more fun.
Difficulty - 4
For me, I think that the game is not that hard if you have skills in this game.  From the start, if you are not good at any 3D adventure games, then it may be hard to for you (but not too hard).  I would say close to half of how hard the game is.  The levels play fair.  Some can be difficulty, but that is just the way they are.  And getting to Bowser is not that hard really.  You just need about 70 stars? and I would be able to get that very easily, since I can get all the stars easily.  I do not hack if that is what you are thinking.  I have used hacks before, just for the fun of it, and it is cool to see what you can do.
New! My Glitches
There are a few glitches in the game that some people may know and that some people may not know.  I happen to found 2.  One is the endless stairs being an end.  Where it happens is where you do not have enough stars to get to Bowser (third time) and he would say that it is an endless stairs.  What I do to get to the top is that I position Mario where he is walking down the stairs and I would do the long jump backwards on the edge of the stairs repeatedly and then sooner or later Mario will go so fast that he will get to the end.  My other one is going through the castle.  To be able to do this, you have to get all the stars to be able to get on the roof.  When I get on the roof and get the flying hat, I would try to walk up to the top of the castle and then fly around and there is this one area where you can fly into the castle and you will fall in the castle and be on the other side of the door.  When you try to walk out of the door, you will be on the other side of the door in castle.  There is no way out so you have to reset the game.
Wrap Things Up...
Super Mario 64 is a very adventurous and long game to play.  I highly recommend trying this game if you have not already. It is a lot of fun and people would definitely like this game.  They have made Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2 and they are similar to this one so play it now or you will never see the excitement of this game.

Mario 64 - Best Game on the N64?   pacman1755
Alright, in this review, I shall make a review based on the very overpopulated and very famous game known as Super Mario 64. Expect a lot of favorites since I just adore this game as a child and today I feel the same. The famous thread begins...now.
DIFFICULTY: 7
It isnn't really that hard now that you think about it, yeah it has its tough challenges but nothing really to worry about in the future, the real challenge is to grab all 120 stars. That is what gives it a higher rating, since it does have tough stars to grab, like the hidden stars, and the 100 coin stars. Those are sometimes tough to get, especially if you have to do a specific pattern to get it correctly. Its tough, but you can manage to beat it.
DEPTH: 8
It takes a while to beat it, yeah, you can beat the final bowser in about a couple of days, but if you want to really clean house and grab every star, it will take a LOT of time and skill to get it right. The right way to do it is to clean out every level one step at a time, and even that will take days to do. If you are a crafty veteran at the game you can do this easily, but if you are new at the game, it WILL take time for you to clean out the levels. Even I haven't beaten the game 100% yet, but I do know what's gonna happen when you do get it and I'm not going to tell...this is a review, not a spoiler. ;)
STORY: 8
This is one of the original stories, but its a bit different then the regular mario storyline, this story is about the castle toads and even Peach being sealed away in the castle's walls thanks to Bowser. Now he is in full control of the castle with all of the powerstars. It is now Mario's duty to grab them all and restore power and expell Bowser and his minions from the castle forever. That is a very good story, I like the direction it went.
ADDICTIVENESS: 10
This game is waaaay too addicting for me to handle, I can play this game for hours and hours on in. It will never get old to me, because of all of these classic levels to play and you can pretty much do anything in the game, its very fun. You can fly, go through walls, and walk underwater! Yeah, this game will keep you busy for a long long time.
SOUND: 10
Another perfect Ten for this one, the music is really a good game, and I enjoy the heck out of the soundtracks, and effects. Good quality work on that one. The first game to have mario WITH voice Acting for many of the characters like Mario, and Peach...Bowser I don't know if that is voice acting, but it could be just sound effects. Anyways, I love the Sound in this game, definately a great work on that.
GRAPHICS: 9
The graphics that were in a 3D perspective were really good, I definitely liked the way they used the effects to make Mario in his 3D world. It had no flaws in my eyes, but they could have done a bit better with the camera angles...not sure if that counts with the graphics or the gameplay itself, but other than that, they did a great job with the modeling on the game.
OVERALL: 9.6
So overall this game is a great game to try and if you try it right now, I would bet everything that I own that you wouldn't be disapointed with the game. And THAT I promise you guys, the game's depth, addictiveness, Sound Track, and Graphics, there is a very slim chance that you would not like this, but this is my opinion. Go ahead in the RGR and play it right now. :)
Have a great day everyone.

The Most Revolutionary Game Nintendo Made   spirits10
When you think of Mario, odds are two games come to mind: The original NES legend, and Super Mario 64. That is because those two games each pioneered a genre, and changed gaming forever. Super Mario 64 may not have been the first 3D platformer, but it was certainly the first one to get it right. Out of all games on the N64 (aside from Ocarina of Time), this game is easily the best, and is not only a revolutionary game, but an extraordinarily fun game as well.
Graphics
Compared to games now, you might think, "the graphics on this game are awful." Well, for that time, Mario 64 was actually quite advanced graphically. This game was among the first to utilize 3D graphics, and as such is an incredibly revolutionary title in that aspect alone. The game had some pretty locations, some advanced animations and cool looking characters for the time. Nonetheless, there are some games on the N64 (star fox 64, super smash bros, etc.) that put the visuals here to shame, not to mention the fact that the SNES had somewhat better looking visuals, if only for being 2D. 8/10
Sound
Music in Mario has always been upbeat and fun, but Mario 64 kicked it up a notch in the music department, bringing us some truly amazing themes. From Bob-Omb Battlefield, to Bowser in the Sky, there is no song in this game that doesn't give off that amazing Mario feel. However, if I had one complaint, a very minor one, it would be that the sound effects, such as Bowser stomping, Mario jumping, or whatever, sound just a tad unreal. However, in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing 10/10
Addictiveness
All Mario games are addictive, and contain a vast assortment of secrets and fun gameplay hooks that made us come back for more, but none were as big or as fun as Mario 64. The game not only featured over a dozen levels that were vast and fun to explore, but the sheer number of bosses, missions, and just random fun that you could behold would make you come back for more. Heck, the Whomp's Fortress was so good they put it in Galaxy 2, and lets not forget how much we all loved tossing Bowser into bombs, or ground pounding Whomp King, or just owning Bob-omb King... you know what, everything in this game is fun and addictive 10/10
Story
All Mario games may seem to have the same plot, but each adds it own twist to make it's game unique. Well in this game, there are plenty of twists from the normal story. Mario is heading over to Peach's for a date when he arrives at the castle, only to hear from the toads that Bowser kidnapped Peach again, this time however locking her inside her own castle, stealing all of the stars powering the castle, and even turning the paintings in the castle into portals to different parts of the Mushroom Kingdom, each one containing one of the stolen stars. Bowser even lures you to a trap several times before the final battle. The story is so original, Nintendo has actually made most subsequent Mario games follow this story. 8/10
Depth
Like i said before, most Mario games are riddled with secrets and have some real depth to them, but Mario 64 has more secrets than all of those games before it combined. A dozen worlds, an assortment of missions, and even some dandy secret areas aren't even the end to the amount of stuff to do in this game. Even if you fight Bowser, there are 120 stars in all, with many of these being secret stars hidden among the levels. you could literally spend days exploring this massive title. 8/10
Difficulty
Mario games aren't known for their difficulty, so it's no surprise that this game isn't the hardest game in the N64 library. However, if you want to find all the secrets, all the stars, find everything, and do everything, that is the difficult part. There are some tricky stages, and some confusing puzzles, but th secrets are what make this game hard. finding the stars can be like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes, with doing things as confusing as flipping several switches at once really proving difficult. If you aren't a perfectionist, however, this game won't be too grueling.
This game is one fun ride, and is also a revolution to the gaming world. This game, even now, can compete with most 3D platformers, and in many ways surpass them. This game is proof that games are works of art, and this game is a masterpiece that makes it the Mona Lisa of video games. This game gets a perfect 10/10, for being the absolute best platformer, as well as one of the best games period, in history

Ah The Memories   katie.rae
I remember when this game first came out. I wasn't very good at it but over time I got much better. I loved discovering the secrets and entering new areas. I love the 3D aspect of it. I really loved that you played levels over but with different objectives.
A few years after the game came out my friend and I sat up all night to get all the starts. Tick Tock Clock was by far the level that gave us the most difficulty. We had so much fun but it took what seemed like a long time to get some of those harder stars :)
This game will always, like every Mario game be a classic that for years to come people will go back and play. This was the type of game people played without a players guide. Back in the day when you had to discover every star, every secret level, every hat, the great bunny chases.
Many happy hours playing this game. Now let me explain my ratings. As always my ratings are based on WHEN the game came out, (graphics rated to graphics of its time).
Overall: 9.6 - Well its a Mario game so that's high score right there. It was fun it kept you busy, yes it had the same story line as always but it was still awesome.
Graphics: 8 - This game was a big step in the gaming world. It had "before its time" graphics and opened a door for 3D graphics. Also because the N64's whole vision was to bring this into the world
Sound: 8 - Same classic music but new songs. The melodies really went with the levels and I liked that.
Addictiveness: 9 - Does anyone else remember how many times they said "OK just one more star then I will go to bed." 'OK I just opened up a new level I want to try it." "OK the next star should be pretty easy to get too." "OK I want to go back and try that other star that was giving me troubles again." And the list goes on (we all have done it and not with just this game.)
Story: 8 - Yes it was the classic "Princess get kidnapped by Bowser" but it they made it seem like it was the first time it had happened. And yes you get to Bowser and beat him but then find out the Princess isn't there. But if the game was that easy we wouldn't play it now would we!
Depth: 8 - This was the type of game were you started off thinking OK levels are behind doors, but then it develops and gets a little more complicated then that. Some levels you actually had to search for or come across by chance. One that comes to mind is the level behind the hidden wall "Shifting Sand Land". I came across it when I was chasing the bunny in the basement. I went to dive for it and went right through the wall. Very exciting. Not only that but to progress you do have to do those "side quests" like chasing the bunnies or finding the 3 caps. I could go on about this for a long time so if you have played it you know what I mean and if you haven't then try it and you will see what I mean.
Difficulty: 8 - This is a tough on. I have played this game over many times, yes it has gotten easier but I still do have troubles with certain things. I guess that's why I rated it an 8. Some days you can whip through it some days you can't.

One of the Best Mario Games   zanderlex

Super Mario 64 had been one of the first games that I have played in the Retro Game Room and I really enjoyed the game and its components. The game is fun, it's not that challenging if you know what you are doing and it's very addicting.

For graphics, I give the game a 9 because it's a step up from the standard side scrolling Mario game and offers a brand new perspective on the area by letting you view the game basically in a 360 view. The graphics themselves as color and detail are also remarkable for a game that was released when it was. The game came out in 1996 and I think that just a few other games from that year might have had better graphics.

Now for the sound. The games music was composed by Koji Kondo, who composed the music for the original Super Marios Bros game and had been working with various Mario games ever since 1985 as well as all of the Zelda games. The music that this man makes for both franchises are considered to be some of Nintendo’s best songs and are considered to be classics all over. This means that the music is great and will also receive a 9 out of 10.

The game is addicting because there are so many different things to do, some of which were considered to be revolutionary to the series and gamers could spend hour after hour trying to beat the game and not get bored. As for Addictiveness, the game deserves to get an 8 out of 10.

As for the story, it’s virtually the same as any other Mario game. The games concept revolves around Bowser capturing Peach as always, but this time, there are a few tweaks that slightly improve the story. Overall, the story of the game is very repetitive and is largely based on previous games, but the Mario series had became famous just because of that one plotline, so if it were really anything else, it wouldn’t feel much like a Mario game. Because of this, I give the story a 9 out of 10.

Next is the depth of the game. The game only offers a few levels, but each level offers a ton of various courses that are both challenging and entertaining. Though just a few levels and areas, these courses and a lot of depth to the overall feel of the game and deserves an 8 out of 10.

Lastly, we are going to go over the difficulty of the game. For this, I am going to give a 5 out of 10. The game is easy and fun, but it may take a few tries to get through each course because some of them might be a bit puzzling when you first go through them.

In my opinion, I would say this game could probably be one of the 10 best Mario games to ever be released and my overall grade for this game will be a 9.1. I recommend this game to anybody who is a fan of Mario and I assure you will enjoy it. The only thing I did not enjoy about the game was the difficulty in my own view because I gave up easily after finding a tough challenge, but I am not going to take my own troubles into account since it's just my own views of the game because other than that, the game is amazing.

What is there to say about this game? well A freaking lot! This

game revolutionised the game industry well before Crash. The first DS/3DS
remake, the most hacked game and it
is a launch title.
Charles Martinet
s game voice acting
debut was this game! You wanted a big review well, here ya go. Wahoo let
s a get going!!!

story:

Princess Peach has

invited Mario to come dine on a cake she baked for him. After arriving via
magic warp pipe (you know the ones that come up from the ground and vanish) he
walks to the bridge over-looking the moat. The Lakitu Bros.
(You only ever see one) reports the events. In a nutshell

Bowser kidnaps Peach,

steals the Power Stars and traps the toads, yeah really trapped. The freaking
doors open sure one may argue there locked but what of
Bomb-Omb Battlefield what about the freaking security guard surely they can
walk out! Even Omo-Chao and Navi aren
t this stupid. Ok maybe Navi

graphics and

gameplay:

For its time SM64 had amazing Graphics.

Did You Know: SM64 used

the same 3D engine as Toy-Story!!!

Of course not as good cause of its space plus the fact its interactive rather than pre-rigged.

This game

revolutionised the platformer the first 3D of the genre and did a good job of
it. Theres
really nothing else to say about it
s gameplay other than Mario can
punch!!!

music

and sfxs:

Koji really

shines after being a lazy *** and using the same MIDI in Super Mario World here
he does some dicent music but hes still kinda lazy for having one theme
for:

Overworld

Underworld

Underwater

e.t.c. Did You Know Koji Kondo was also lazy like this in Mario Kart 64?!

But they

are some of the most well known themes! And we all know Dun Dun Dah Dah Dah Dah
Dah Dun Dah Doo (Overworld commonly known as Bomb-omb Battlefield) ops sorry so
catchy!

Well as for

SFX all I can really say is that Charles was so good in this game its now stock SFX!

level

design and physics engine:

It just

amazing how you can climb up mountains/hills and how you dont get trapped in the stars really thats all I can say.

conclusion:

In conclusion this game

deserves its praise
it
s an amazing game. It has won numerous awards
and  should be proud.

An awesome month   ender44
Hi, Ender44 here doing a very special review of my N64 three, the three N64 games I got as a kid and will still play over and over again(Mario 64, legend of Zelda ocarina of time, legend of Zelda majora's mask) Mario 64 was the first game released for the Nintendo 64 and set the stage for one of the best game systems in the world.
Graphics: like everyone in this time period, maybe including Davideo7,  must remember throwing they're old SNES out of the WINDOW, once they saw this game. The graphics introduced everyone to the new revolution that was the N64 and Mario 64, no more side scrollers people, we are 3D now. Walking around the new improved world as we searched for bowser facing old and new challenges, old and new friends, and old and new enemies.
Sound: Sadly, there weren't many new, improved songs, it mainly consisted of marios old songs and sounds from what I can remember. Though filtered from new technology, it will sound as new as ever from the old games.
Addictiveness: You cant just do one level in this game, ive tried. After one there is always an excuse, a really fun excuse to say. Be it, a new boss, a final level, or figuring one of the many puzzles in the game. I had to pace myself  very hard to maintain my grades that year, but seriously, who would rather study than play a game like this?
Story: To be honest, there was a little disappointment involved in this game for me. I was expecting a little more than fight bowser again. Even though there is slightly more to this fight than just jumping over him, lifting the axe, and saving peach. Even though there is more to do in the fight, its still very hard to mask the same old thing.
Depth: Again, even though this game  has many levels and bosses to have fun with, there is not much to do besides do what the level says, get the stars, and fight your dragon-turtle nemesis.
Difficulty: at some points this game can be quite difficult, considering all the new elements that were added to this game that took many people like me to get used too.
(fun facts: For those who have played ocarina of time. During the development of OOT, they decided that the game was much too big and they needed to cut down on the data needed. One of them suggested having link jump through paintings like Mario does in Mario 64. This idea was eventually scrapped, but it lead to the development to the boss of the forest temple, Phantom Ganondorf, a boss that rides through paintings.)

Mario takes flight...into gaming history   PixelBrick
Welcome to my review for a very, very special game...Super Mario 64. I decided to do this review for the sake of reviewing, and I think you will enjoy the following. Let's get started.
Story: 7/10
So, the story. When starting the game, you are greeted by a letter from Princess Peach. She has baked a cake for the hero of Brooklyn, (and the Mushroom Kingdom) Mario. You get a view of the castle when Lakitu, your camera man flies over the castle, and greets Mario at the warp pipe where he jumps out into the 3D world...the 2D side-scrolling hero turned 3D. Now Mario must save Peach yet again. Bowser has taken all the 120 Power Stars and hid them, thus trapping Peach in the walls of the castle. Mario now has a new destiny...but has lots of obstacles stopping him. Now begins the hunt for your 120 stars and to save your woman. (BAD CHOICE OF WORDS)
Graphics: 10/10
The graphics in this game are outstanding. N64 games have lots of polygons in the game, and you get them in this game. The graphics are very good for Miyamoto's first 3D Mario game. The graphics for Mario are well done, the geography looks amazing, and it looks like your quest will also have good quality. (If you're playing this on Vizzed, the graphics will be HD, compared to the original N64) Like I said, this gave has TOO much polygons. Maybe Bowser turned the kingdom into an educational world to learn shapes! As you can hear, the graphics are a must see in this game.
Sound: 9/10
The sound in this game is pretty remarkable. They give you such nostalgia when playing. This is the first Mario game where Mario actually speaks, and this takes Mario to a whole new level. This game has lots of remixes from older Mario game themes (x2 nostalgia). The sounds are so great that...here's the ironic part, in Shifting Sand Land, my mother thought the sound of the thwomps were coming from our home. Pretty funny, huh? Anyways... the sound/music/audio is very good for a Nintendo game. Now to move on to a big part of what makes the overall ratings what it is now... ADDICTIVE-NESS.
Addictiveness: 9/10
How addicting this game is unreal. When we get to the depth, you'll see why. The game's depth is big, and the graphics connect you to the game even more than the adventure of the game does. I doubt one can get bored of this game (unless they're failing a lot). This game is one of the most addicting Nintendo games of all time. With remarkable depth, and graphics, and audio, it shall unfold this game into perfection. You just...can't stop playing...HELP, MY THUMB IS STUCK TO THE ANALOG STICK.
Depth: 10/10
This game offers a LOT. It's hard to explain all of it, but I'll try my best...when you start out, you get greeted to a big open field with a big castle which you walk into and get greeted by, "Nobody's home. Now scram! Gwahahahaha!" Bowser, obviously. You get into your first world. Each world has six main missions, and a mission where you have to collect 100 coins. These worlds that you explore are (Doing this in order), Bob Omb Battlefield, Whomp's Fortress, Jolly Roger Bay, Cool Cool Mountain, Big Boo's Haunt, Hazy Maze Cave, Lethal Lava Land, Shifting Sand Land, Dire Dire Docks, Snowman's Land, Wet Dry World, Tall Tall Mountain, Tiny Huge Island, Tick Tock Clock, and last but not least, Rainbow world. Other than those worlds, there is secret stars all around the castle. Three out of all the toads will give you a star upon speaking to them. Each world will have at least one red coin mission. Red coins are worth two coins, and blue coins are worth five. Now getting into the power-ups, some missions are required to have them. By the way, in each level where you unlock the item, there is a red coin mission to conquer as well. To get the Wing Cap, you have to get 14 stars, then on that sun carpet in the interior, you stand on it, use C ^ to look up, then you get transported to "? Switch of Rainbow Tower." You have to fly through to get eight red coins, and pound the switch to unlock the Wing Cap. To get the Vanish Cap, you need to be in the basement. You will find a wooden door that will lead you to a pool of water. Swim to the other side of it, then pound the two pillars. Then go outside. The moat will be drained, and there will be a hole to your right. Go in it. To become a METAL MACHINE (Wing Cap), go into Hazy Maze Cave, ride on Dory, and get to the two doors, and you will jump in the portal. You know what to do next. In this game, you will fight Bowser three times. The music for the Bowser levels are remarkable. And there is a red coin mission in them too. You fight BOWSAH in, Bowser in the Dark World, Bowser in the Fire Sea, and the last level of the game, Bowser in the Sky. To describe the difficulty of the main worlds with the seven stars...Bob Omb Battlefield is fairly easy, has short missions, Whomp's Fortress has really short missions, they're really easy too, Jolly Roger Bay can get annoying, but honestly...not hard. Cool Cool Mountain is where things get serious. 2/4 of the missions are really dreadful. Big Boo's Haunt...has moderate missions, can be really time consuming... Hazy Maze Cave...really boring, can get pretty difficult, and the 100 coin mission is so time consuming. Lethal Lava Land...the easiest level ever. There's lava everywhere, but there's lots of ways to cheat the level, there's 1-ups everywhere, and coins everywhere. The missions...really easy. You could just cheat them with a Wing cap or surf on the lava with the koopa shell. Shifting Sand Land is really annoying. 100 coin mission is dreadful, missions are boring... yeah. Dire Dire Docks is really time consuming, and only the red coin mission is difficult. Cool Cool Mountain is really easy, really fun, and really easy. Wet Dry World is terribly easy, and really fun to play. Tall Tall Mountain is moderate. Case in point, it contains one of the best missions ever. *Cough* *Cough* Mysterious Mountainside. *Cough.* Tiny Huge Island can get boring, the missions can get hard, but...still easy. Tick Tock Clock is THE WORST. The missions are hard, the platforming is dreadful...just be careful when you play this. This level doesn't have much in the way of coins. Last but not least, a terribly boring missions with fun levels. Pretty big game huh? I have more to share, but this review might get really crazy. Oh what the heck, I'll give more. Every time you reset the game, it resets your lives back to five. 1-ups are pretty pointless, unless you're on your last life, and you suck at this game. Watch out, people! And you get a little treat if you get 120 stars. That cannon next to the pond on the castle grounds will open. Blast yourself on the castle, and three 1-ups will be there. But talk to Yoshi on the castle, and he will get you to 100 lives, and he...jumps off the castle and dies...however, if you reset the game, he'll re-appear. About cannons, if you talk to the pink Bob-Omb buddy in each level, he will activate a cannon which you can use. There is no cannon in Lethal Lava Land or Shifting Sand Land, or Hazy Maze Cave.
Difficulty: 7/10
In depth, you've heard that this game is really easy. These considered'hard' missions...they're not hard, they're just boring to play through without doing a TAS. The difficulty for this game isn't that bad. It's good for any gamers who like simple games. All of this makes this game a very fun game to enjoy.
Overall: 10/10
This game is VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY good. The depth, audio, graphics and whatnot mold this game into a masterpiece. This has got to be the best Nintendo game to be released. (My opinion at least) There was a ton of copies of these games sold back in the day, and I got one. I'm happy that I didn't sell it...but I will in the future. As you can hear...this game will please you in lots of ways.
I hope you enjoyed my review for Super Mario 64. I plan on making more reviews in the future. I beg you farewell. Thanks so much for reading.

Super Mario 64 Review   David25866
Super Mario 64 one of my all time favorite games for the N64!
The games graphics for N64 standard were very good everything went quite smoothly on the N64 and Wii not on this because I don't have the right graphics card so I don't have it I have played it on the wii though and the graphics were amazing I had only run into a few graphical glitches otherwise everything went really smoothly!
Like some of you should know I judge a game a lot on it's music because I love listening to great video game music that makes me fell like I'm in the game and this game filled that requirement for me I loved most of the music in this game and even though I hate water levels with a burning passion the water levels music was my favorite the only reason I didn't give it a ten is because the snow levels music really irritated me probably because I had to listen to it about OVER 9000 TIMES I only bad music for me!
This game was one of the most addictive games I have ever played I have completed this game a total of 36 times and have partly played it about OVER 9000 times...... I will stop making that reference now but still I would play this game another 36 times most of the people I know got really addicted to it as well I lose a friend because of it DARN YOU SUPER MARIO 64!
The story for this game was great even though it is a generic Mario plot...... ANYWAY like usual Peach/Toadstool gets captured by bowser and Mario as always has to go and save her NO not Luigi because Luigi would rather stay home and watch two girls one cup the lazy bum.
But once you save Peach she will like usual give Mario a kiss and like in some of the Mario games bake him a cake as well
I can't really remember if she did in this one but more than likely she did.
The game was very long and fun which a game should be it had a vast amount of worlds which was different in it's own way the game was fun to navigate through and..... well I can't really think of anything else for depth so never mind!
The game was hard at some points in the game depending on your level of skill in each kind of world like it is more easy for me in levels that aren't water or ice levels all others I am usually quite good at those kind of worlds peoples level of skill in a world depends on the person so I will ask what is your best kind of world mine is actually lava worlds because I think they are the most fun!
The main thing I loved about this game was Peach's secret slide I thought it was the most fun mission in the entire game and c'mon who  doesn't love a giant slide
The main thing I disliked was the water level itself not the music but just the water level I hate water levels very much and the missions are always really annoying!
I would recommend this game to my friends it is a fun game and from all the people I have met not one of them could put the controller down....and I wanted to play -_-.....
I hope you liked this review thanks for reading it and please tell me some of the things you liked and disliked about the game!

Awesome Mario franichise = Epic Mario Game!   Stevie 764
I'm gonna turn on my nintendo 64. *flicks power switch to on* *coin sound* Game: It's a me, Mario!
I will review Super Mario 64 today. Don't forget to ask questions if you have some.
REVIEW START!
Graphic Rating: 10
This game had the best grpahics for it's time, it had great texture, and it used the system's full potential, the visuals are epic, too. The Nintendo 64 had less graphic limitations, so the graphics and visuals are very smoothly done, thanks to the nintendo 64 being a 32-bit system, in which is why I give it a 10, it got greatly polished.
Sound Rating: 10
The sounds are just awesome, it had full potential used, it even hundreds of sounds, but still, they are epic. I also love how good the music fits, it fits so good there's no more potential left! Music also had less limitations since it is one of the 32-bit consoles, which is why I give it a 10, there was awesome music for its time, it had its max potentinal and it polished flawlessly.
Addictiveness Rating: 10
If you were to buy this in your childhood, you would never be able to stop playing, because this is a classic Mario game that was the first Mario game to have elements such as 3D movement and a 3D world (No 3-D glasses). The most classic line of the game was "It's a me, Mario!" If you ever try to say that, it will get you so addicted to the game that you will glue your eyes to the TV and can't get them off, which is the reason I give it a 10, quite addicting, isn't it?
Story Rating: 7
The game starts with a letter from princess peach saying that she baked a cake for Mario, Lakitu, the cameraman searches around the castle looking for Mario until a green pipe, out comes Mario. The rest of the game is for you to see and discover IN the game, which explains why I gave it a good 7, the same story keeps copying into other games.
Depth Rating: 10
This game is so long, you won't believe it. You will be playing this for months on end before you 100% the game. How long is this game? 15 huge courses with 6 stars each, 15 secret stars, all totaling up to 120 stars in the game! Wow, I have never seen a game this long in my life. Basicly, it is so long that you will play for many many weeks and the game is filled with secrets that is up to you to try to uncover these secrets, uncovering secrets can give you a bonus in the game, which is also why I give this a 10, it took me nearly a year to 100% complete it.
Difficulty: 6
This game seemed hard, but only at the end, it does get one step higher every course of the game. I give this a ok 6 because of that, it might be harder or easier for other people.
Overall: 10
This game is treasured as one of nintendo's classic games and can't be forgotten, if you were to play this game, this game is for you. This game will keep you so busy that you will end up playing months on end but you just can't stop finding secrets every minute of playing, this game deserves a perfect 10, one of nintendo's awesome games.
My Experiences:
I remember seeing this game on the nintendo channel, and I wanted this for the 2010 Christmas season, what I got was the game, and the system, the game cost $29.99, and the system was... $54.99! O_O You kidding me!? This system didn't sell anymore several years ago, but Santa managed to get me those 2 things I needed for my game collection. I knew that when I got the game, I couldn't wait to get to the gameplay, it was just absolutely mind-blowing when I saw the amazing visuals, and last year, I had the whole game complete. Then I went out to discover glitches in the game and see how fun they are. That was my review for Super Mario 64 on Nintendo 64.
Overall Rating: A+ :D I love this game!
Also, check out my other reviews and read them, feel free to ask any questions if you have any. Thanks for reading my review of Super Mario 64 for Nintendo 64.

Super Mario 64: My favorite retro game   MarioLucarioFan..
Hey, hey, hey guys! Today i'll write this review to show those who want to know what Super Mario 64 is. So. Here i go.
Super Mario 64 is probably Mario's first 3D game, where Mario needs to save Peach from Bowser through 15 course and retrieve the power stars back. And they can be everywhere: On the top of a mountain, in a penguin mother's pocket or even in a wall... They are there. The main goal is to collect the 120 power stars, but you only need 70 to finish the story. And with story, i mean beating up Bowser in his Sky World and save the princess! *enthusiastic* *ahem*
Another fun thing to know and notice is the amount of hacks. Yes, because there are an insanely amount of downloadable and playable hacks on the internet. But why? Super Mario 64 can be edited easily, and now even more easier with a certain program. This program is the source of most hacks, but some hacks are probably coded all over again. Well, the graphics are the same, right?
And various of characters appear and re-appear in this game too. Like Toad, Yoshi, King Bob-Omb, Wiggler, the overall enemies, and what about new enemies like Chuckya, that stalking, purple, bob-omb looking hurl-machine? Those characters all (re-)appear in this fantastic game. And most YouTubers who make machinima's from this use, you guessed it, this game.
------------------------------------------------------
Score:
------------------------------------------------------
Graphics:
A 9 for the graphics, as it wasn't the top quality back then. But for the N64, it looks fan-tas-tic. Compared to Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64 was a whole new level for Nintendo. (Get it? Level? As in making them?) And to top the graphics up: Some characters even blink. And i bet not every game before Super Mario 64 had characters with blinking eyes.
------------------------------------------------------
Sound:
The music is great, so it deserves a 9 as well. Mostly i'm very severe in this part, and so am i now. This music has its ups and downs, mostly ups. Think about the course of Bob-omb Battlefield! Or Dire, Dire Docks! Or Bowser's Road in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and this game which match!
------------------------------------------------------
Addictiveness:
A 10. No comment.
Seriously, though... as the description says it to me, you will definitely play this game again once you got used to it. The gameplay is so fun and new looking. Well, new looking in 1996. But it's still the best N64 game.
------------------------------------------------------
Story:
A 7, because there is one odd thing about the story: You see no intro showing Peach is kidnapped, only Peach's letter to Mario where she says she baked a cake for him. Then Lakitu flies in with a camera and flies to the start of your role. And then comes Mario and he must go to the castle. Peach is kidnapped. Now remains these questions: How did Bowser kidnap Peach? Was Mario a victim or not? (probably not) And from when was that letter? These questions can't be answered by me.
------------------------------------------------------
Depth:
15 courses, each containing 6 main stars and one if you collect 100 coins. Making it 7 in 15 courses, so that's 105 stars. Plus 15 bonus stars... You get the point, right? It takes a while to complete the entire game, until the 120th star. I rated this a 9 for that reason and you get challenges each time you go for a star. Still, it makes this a great game.
------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty:
That 6 was hard to give: It goes from easy to hard to i made a 6 from that. The first course, Bob-omb Battlefield, is easy. You're only in a war between bombs. Nothing important. But what surely is important: Rainbow Road is the last course and the first star is not very easy and nice to you. So there's that.
------------------------------------------------------
Overall:
This fantastic game deserves a 9.9, basically because it is fantastic. The only thing is the story, but that's not a big deal. Still, it doesn't make my rating a 10. Anyway, i highly recommend playing this game! It can be found in the Retro Game Room!
This was my review! Any questions about it or the game itself can be left here! :)

The Pinnacle of Mario's Legacy   ShadeDepeche31
Super Mario 64... one of the greatest Mario games of all time. Probably one of the best games of all time period. I don't know where to begin with this game's review. A great multitude of positive comments have been said about this game, I might even repeat some of these comments. To officially begin this review, we are going back to where Mario's legacy began; 30 years ago...
By 1985, the video game franchise was greatly failing. The sales dropped by about 97% between the years 1983-85. All thanks to Atari and Intellvision, video games were going to cease to exist. However, in 1985, a console was released, and not just any console. This console was destined to save gaming and will be forever remembered for it's games. This console was the Nintendo Entertainment System (a.K.A. The NES). This console was very successful for having really good graphics for it's time, the most iconic soundtracks in gaming, some of the greatest games of all time, and all the joy that comes with it. BUT, I think the main reason to this console's success is one game: Super Mario Bros. We all know the game, happy and catchy soundtrack, basic storyline, and fun gameplay. This game also introduced Mario, the most iconic character in gaming (ignoring Pac-man of course). This game ended up being one of the most top-selling games of all time, and what followed it was history.

Let's fast forward a bit, shall we? How about the year 1996? Okay? *fast forwards to 1996* In this year, Mario success only grew. He gained not only popularity, but several spin-offs and cameo's, his own TV show and movie, a legit rival (Sonic the Hedgehog), and kids were as familiar with him as they would be with Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. At this time (correct me if I'm wrong), Nintendo announced that they were making a 3-dimensional Mario game. This may have led to many skeptical people. I don't blame them; sometimes being innovative can destroy a franchise. However, as soon as Super Mario 64 was release, the experience was like no other. I will tell you this experience exactly.
I'll go in the order of the ratings; starting with graphics and ending with difficulty.
GRAPHICS: 8/10
The graphics were great. Not the best, but they were great. I can identify Mario and his expressions, and I can tell that Peach was kissing him at that ending. On the other hand, I did see better coming from the N64 in games like GoldenEye and Ocarina of Time. At the same time, I've seen worse. Nonetheless, the graphics were great for the console it was on.
SOUND: 9/10
I love this game's soundtrack. It actually sounds like real music. It even embraces the feel you should be having in this game. You'd feel joy strolling in the castle, you'd feel fear facing Bowser or even on the path towards him, and most importantly, it gives you this desire to explore, which is the reason why I love this game. Also the sound effects were convincing. There may not be any voice acting, but at least there are proper sound effects. The sound was the best I've heard from a N64 game ignoring Ocarina of Time.
ADDICTIVENESS: 10/10
As I'm making this review, I want to continue Super Mario 64. In addition to this, you have 120 stars to collect. Most people would have a goal to collect them all. This is also a game I see many people doing a 100% speedrun of. If this doesn't show you how addicting this game can be, I don't know what does.
STORY: 6/10
This is me being generous. The story at this point would start getting annoying for most people. Also, the ending isn't too satisfying either. This game follows the repetitive plot behind most Mario games: Princess Peach gets kidnapped and Mario rescues her. In the ending, All Princess Peach gives him is a kiss and probably some cake. This is the 4th time Mario risked his own life for Princess Peach, AND ALL SHE GIVES HIM IS A KISS AND CAKE!!!!! She's a princess, surely she can give a better reward than this on her 4th rescue. I can rant about this game's story all day, but there are 2 reasons I can't. 1: I don't have time and 2: There are positive things about the story. The story at least has the basic plotline structure. This is why I rated a number above 5.
DEPTH: 10/10
With 120 stars in this game, many different worlds you can explore, and several hidden secrets in the castle, you'd spend hours upon hours trying to 100% this game. Also there are some mission worth redoing, such as that slide. Oh the fun and music... That's not my point though, my point is that if you are going to play this game, get ready to lose some free time.
DIFFICULTY: 5/10
This is just like most Mario games; not too easy, nor not too hard. This depends on your perspective. Some find it insanely easy because they are used to being engaged and exploring. Others, on the other hand, would find it hard because they are new too exploring. I think that this game has average difficulty, which is enough to appeal to most audiences. The controls are very simple, use the analog stick to move, A is to jump and, B is to Punch/Grab. You can figure out the rest.
Overall, this is a great game that would appeal to most audiences. Mario's in it, the difficulty is in-between, and it has epic music. If I were to make a Top 25 greatest games list, this would be #9. There is so much in this game to explore, and you would spend much time with this game. If you are a Nintendo fan, and you haven't played this game, play it. Not "Watch a Let's play on YouTube." You have to play on the game yourself to truly understand how great this game is. If you don't agree with me, feel free to tell me what you think. I'd love to listen to your opinion. All I'm saying is that I think this game; Super Mario 64; is one of the best Mario games, and one of the greatest games in general. This is Shade's review of Super Mario 64, I hope you've enjoyed it.
                                                                                                               THE SHADE IS OUT!!!!

Super Mario 64 review for the Nintendo 64!   G@mehe@d
Super Mario 64 was released in 1996 for the Nintendo 64. It was an innovative title making one of the first 3D platformer's. The game is great and is considered a true classic in my opinion. The game especially takes full advantage of the N64s 64 bit polygon capabilities. However the somewhat strange camera and graphical glitches keep the graphics from being perfect. The gameplay is awesome and adds a whole new level to exploration. People of all ages will have fun exploring the 3D levels and collecting the power stars. In fact there's 120 power stars in the game. Which adds a ton of stuff to do. This game is worth owning for N64 collectors and worth the Viz on Vizzed, lets take a closer look at this master piece.
STORY: The story is a lot different then the previous Mario games. Instead of bowser capturing Princess Peach. Bowser invades the Mushroom Kingdom castle and traps everybody in the walls. He also steals the power stars that power the castle. So the castle is drained the power of the castle. Most doors of the castle are sealed except for one. The Bomb Battlefield door. This room like many others has a picture that will take you to another world. Which has 6 power stars each. As you gain power stars doors become unlocked. Leading to new worlds. There are plenty of secret stars in the castle too. In my opinion the plot is nice and original. Unique in a way.
GRAPHICS: Mario 64 had some of the best graphics of it's generation. The characters are smooth and definitely not too blocky. I like the level ideas for the worlds as well. From a battle field to a rainbow world. There is some of the most creative level ideas ever. There one problem though. There are some graphical glitches and issues that make plenty of hardcore gamer explore them and find them. Famous glitches like the room of death or something like that. The room of death is where the player does something specific to get in the top cone of the castle. There is no way out so you have to reset the emulator or system depending on what platform your using. Another glitch is what I call the floating E. If you go to the snowman picture, stand next to it, and move your camera to the edge of the painting it will go through and you will see a floating E.
SOUND: There is a long range of songs through out the game. Each one is energetic and exciting. They match the levels pretty well and I see no errors in the music what so ever.
ADDICTIVENESS: This game will keep you on for hours and hours. The great level of exploration, and fun exciting levels make this very addicting. Any one will enjoy this game, so it's great title to have.
DEPTH: Mario 64 has a lot to do. There are 15 gigantic worlds with 6 power stars each, plenty of secret stars, 3 bowser boss stages, very explore able levels, and even a slide! That's quite fun.
DIFFICULTY: The is not very hard, but the awkward camera angles might make the game somewhat difficult.
OVERALL RATING: 9.5 :D
Super Mario 64 is a great game, and a pleasure to play. The only minor problems are a few graphical glitches and some awkward camera angles. If those were not there this would have had a perfect rating of 10.

This is the king of all games.   Phillipp
I played this game as a kid and still I am a very big fan of this game - nowadays, where there are these fancy new romhacks, which take an already great game and make it even more enjoyable! The graphics were good to the time it was released but even today the graphics aren't that bad - there are even romhacks which make the game wide screen, run it with hd textures and run it at 60 frames a second! If you've played the original, you should try the hd 60 fps hack - it blows your mind!I love the music of the game, it's so catchy and there are so many tracks to listen to - I still like the music because of it's awesomeness.I've played this game over and over and over and over again but it doesn't get boring - never. I played countless hours in my childhood and sometimes I play on my console today. As the rumors about Luigi began, I couldn't let the game down to find him (of course including running around the star in the castle backyard for more time than you should play in a month - some people were pure geniuses and created like robots to try and unlock Luigi. Years later the riddle is completely solved: There is no Luigi in the game. But there is in the DS version of the game! :)The game has many well designed levels and cool environments and sometimes you learn a new trick and you just want to revisit the levels you've been to already to try new and crazy methods of getting stars! As a child you often make games harder than they are - especially when you can't read. When I play the game now, it's very easy and it makes lots of fun.In conclusion: this is one of the best games I've played in my life and definitely the one with the biggest romhacking scene there is.A really nice game!

Mario's first 3D adventure is one of gaming's best   FreedomFighters..
Super Mario 64 was one of the first games I had ever played. As a kid, it was one of my favorite games and, despite having never owned a Nintendo 64, I played the game at the houses of friends/family and I played it at any chance that I could get. Now that I finally own a copy of the game (thank you, Virtual Console), I can finally dig into the game and realize how fantastic it truly is. But what makes it so fantastic? Well, let's take a look.
Graphics:
Super Mario 64 was Mario's first 3D adventure and let me tell you, it's truly a visual marvel. Even to this day, the colors are vibrant, the detail is superb, and the character models look great. Obviously, Mario games are not known for photo-realistic visuals, but when playing the game, I still feel like I'm in a totally real world filled with bob-ombs shooting cannons, bullies trying to bombard me into lava and quick-sand that keeps trying to stop me from getting stars. Even after 18 years, Super Mario 64 is still visually stunning.
Sound:
Super Mario 64 has some of Nintendo's best music to date. From the File Select song to the Dire, Dire Docks song to the end credits music, Super Mario 64 has outstanding music. Even besides those ones, there is a treasure trove of phenomenal music to be found in Super Mario 64. And although voice acting is mostly restricting to grunts and screams, those grunts are delivered very well. Also, there are a few moments where Mario actually speaks, and it sounds pretty solid.
Addictiveness:
Super Mario 64 is an extremely addictive game. With 120 power stars to collect and plenty of areas to explore, Super Mario 64 will keep you coming back for more. And considering that you don't need to collect the stars in any order with any real seriousness, the game begs multiple playthroughs. Playing through it multiple times allows you to try to explore different areas and get different stars in any different order. This allows you to experience the game in many different ways and try to go for everything without having to do it all in one playthrough.
Story:
From a story standpoint, Super Mario 64 is exactly what you would expect out of a Mario game. Princess Peach wants Mario to come to the castle to eat some delicious cake, but when he makes it to the castle, he finds that Bowser kidnapped the princess and that the castle has little power at this point because Bowser stole the power stars and trapped everyone inside the castle. Now, it's up to Mario to collect the power stars, save Princess Peach, kick Bowser's butt, have his cake and eat it too. Considering that this is a Mario game, I can cut them some slack for making the story so simple. After all, this is what Nintendo lives for: simple stories but fun gameplay to make up for it.
Depth:
Super Mario 64, despite lacking a deep storyline, has some extreme depth in terms of gameplay. There's 120 power stars to collect and they can be collected in various different ways. With so many stars to collect, levels to explore and bosses to defeat, Super Mario 64 will have you coming back for multiple playthroughs. Even if you beat the game and collect all of the stars, it's still worth going back to see if you can collect the stars in different ways while collect them in different orders.
Difficulty:
Super Mario 64 is not the most difficult game ever, but it certainly has it's moments. Don't be surprised if you spend hours trying to collect one star. And don't get me started on those 100-coin stars. Those things can be extremely difficult to collect, especially in levels like Lethal Lava Land. The 100-coin stars aren't game-breakingly difficult, but they certainly won't do anything to help. Once you get the first key, the game's difficult really picks up. And please, don't remind me of Wet-Dry World.
Verdict:
Super Mario 64 is one of the greatest games that I've ever played. It's visually superb, features some great music, is very addictive and has plenty of depth for a gameplay. Even though the storyline is simple, it's still exactly what you would expect from a Mario game.  The game can also be quite difficult at times, so play at your own risk. If you can get past these extremely minor flaws, Super Mario 64 is an absolute wonder to behold and, to this date, it's still one of the greatest and most revolutionary experiences in all of gaming.
Final rating: 10 out of 10.

Mario 64   tito66
What can I say about this game that hasn't been said before. This game is truly a classic on a level of its own. Graphically, this game looks fantastic for its time. While the polygonal graphics are dated now, the game still has a fun look that holds up fairly well even today.
The music in this game keeps you enthralled in the action. Every stage has music that helps set the overall feel in Mario's search for that next star. The fact that many of the music tracks have been reused in further Mario games reiterates just how fantastic this soundtrack is.
The game is a fun time throughout. The need to get that next star can consume you if you aren't careful. The story however is lacking, but that doesn't really matter in a game like this. If you've played one Mario game, then you've played all of them, at least in the sense of the story. We get it, Peach was kidnapped by Bowser. The game is too fun for that to matter.
In terms of depth, this game has plenty to do. Over 100 stars to find, castle secrets to uncover, and Bowser to defeat. Difficulty varies at times, with some stars taking little effort to get and some requiring some extra work.
Overall, this game is a fun time and a classic that everyone should at least give a try once.

Great game. you should try it(Super Mario 64)   Beastmode64
Super Mario 64 is a very fun game. This is the first 3d version of Mario and I was impressed by  the quality.
Super Mario 64 was about peach is in a seal and Mario must collect all the power stars and beat bowser to save her. There are many levels in this game. Missions are frustrating but get fun at times that’s why I liked it. But here is my real review.
Graphics: 10/10
I love the classic graphics. They really surprise me because the n64 was the first 3d point of view system for Nintendo and they made it look so good.  I love the graphics a lot so that’s why I rated it 10/10 stars.
Sound 10/10
The music and melodies where just superb. Nintendo developed the sound on this game really good. I can just feel the stream of music and noises that Mario makes flowing through my ears. I really loved the sound, it’s great that’s why I am rating it a 10/10 stars.
Addictiveness 10/10
I can play this game for hours. There is no doubt about it. I played this game all night before when I was little. Its really fun game. BELIVE ME!!! Its addictiveness rating is a 10/10 stars
Story 10/10
The story is nice. It has a perfect length to it. I already told you what its about at the top so yeah. The story was great and had every thing it needed to it that’s why it deserves a 10/10 stars.
Depth 10/10
This game has so much to offer. It has every thing it needs that is why it deserves a 10/10 stars.
Difficulty 5/10
This game wasn’t to hard. Yeah it gets frustrating at times believe me. But its difficulty is at a normal set and I think the difficulty deserves a 5/10 stars.
Overall 10/10
This game was a great experience for me. It was really fun and I loved it. I hope Nintendo makes newer games like this. My overall rating is a 10/10 stars
I loved this game a lot. And that’s my review. Just post bellow what you think. THANKS!!!!

Supah Mario 64   TheFadedWarrior
Yo, this is TheFadedWarrior with his 3rd review, which is on Super Mario 64. You better enjoy reading this, because if you don't, I'll have to eat you... And you don't want to be eaten. A little off topic: Once upon a time, a dude named The Faded Warrior was strolling down the Vizzed board in the Review section. He read a review and didn't enjoy reading it. He got eaten.
Graphics
The graphics of this game, in my opinion, are inferior to most games. Mario and pretty much every other sprite look all blobby. It's like you can see all the layers of fat on Mario. The only actually good looking sprites are Peach and Bowser, and those are some of the sprites you see the least (peach at the beginning and end, Bowser in the 3 boss levels). I give the graphics a 4.
Sound
You can't go wrong with video game music, and this game has some pretty good tunes. Everyone's probably heard all of the songs at least 10 times, though. Yeah, I know, this game has great music, but why do people have to use the songs in every Mario-related thing? You watch a funny Mario video on YouTube - Bob-omb Battlefield theme. You play a Super Mario World ROMhack - Bob-omb Battlefield theme. There are a few songs in this game that aren't played too much, but that damned first level's theme is waaaay to overused. I mean, I like the song, but why does it have to be used so much? ;_; I give the sound an 8.
Gameplay
This game is pretty good for a platformer. It's 3-Dimensional, it's fun, and it's pretty long (we'll talk about that later in the review when I explain the depth of the game). You only get to play as Mario, which kind of sucks, but it's still fun. The gameplay is really good, but the levels are poorly designed, seeing as there are at least 100 unintentional shortcuts. Even though this isn't a real rating here on Vizzed, I'm going to give the gameplay a 9.
Addictiveness
Seeing as the gameplay of this game is really fun, players are bound to play Super Mario 64 many times, even after they have gotten all 120 stars. It's like whenever you decide you're going to not play video games for a day, the game cartridge/ROM calls your name. I give the addictiveness another 9.
Story
Princess "Peach" Toadstool invites an Italian plumber named Mario over for cake, then gets captured by some ugly prehistoric dinosaur/turtle thing named Bowser. Mario sets out to save her with the strength of "power stars." Big whoop. Totally normal for a Mario game. They've even used the cake part many times. I give the story a 5.
Depth
This game is actually pretty long. The main story itself may not be as long as someone would hope, but you're only a little past halfway done collecting power stars after you've beaten the game. There's 120 power stars to collect, while only 70 are needed to complete the game. I have spent multiple hours on this game on my Nintendo 64, and I only have 116 stars or whatever. There are 15 courses, each with 6 stars in them, and there are also these really annoying stars achieved after you collect 100 coins in each course, and the 15 secret castle stars. I give the depth an 8.
Difficulty
This game has a bit of both easy and difficult. There's some really easy stars, such as The Princess's Secret Slide and that one where you have to take the star from a shark's tail or something, but then there's impossible ones, such as every single star from the course "Rainbow Ride." There's also an almost impossible secret star where you have to collect 8 red coins in the clouds as Wing Mario. It took me about 15 deaths to get that, and for lots of people it took at least 30. I give the difficulty a 7.
Glitches and their Frequency
This game is famous for its glitches. In fact, multiple people have beaten the game with 0 stars in under 6 minutes due to all of the glitches in this game. The main glitch, used by Mario's backwards long jump (BLJ), allows Mario to fly around the course. My theory is that when you BLJ on certain shaped objects (mainly stairs), Mario's speed value gets screwed up for a second, then slips Mario away from the object, flying past the max speed value. There are MANY locations where this is possible. There are also countless other glitches, such as crawling up the wall in certain places. I give the glitches an 8 and their frequency a 9.
Overall
This game is pretty much awesome. The graphics and story suck, but the sound and gameplay/addictiveness are great, as well as the game being long and providing challenges while still staying a moderate difficulty. This game is awesome, and if you haven't every played this game, you definitely should. Some people who haven't ever played this game before may think that it's totally overrated - NOT TRUE. This game is, hands-down, in a tie for best Mario platformer of all time with Super Mario Galaxy 2. I love this game! Overall, this game deserves a big fat 9/10 (A Grade).

Super Mario 64   PokemonMaster121
It has been so long since I've done a review. This classic did get a remake to the ds but i prefer the old one.So let's ago!
Overall 9.7 This was a start off to the Mario 3D games.Everyone used to play this game back in the days or even the multiplayer hack. Everything that was put on that cartridge was golden.I still play this game and so do you.I enjoy game so please these are my ratings.
Graphics 9 This game fit to be 3D.All the charcter models like bowser, mario, goomba's,etc were really impresive for a N64.Everyone remembers The Legend of Zelda how it had the best graphics, it's like that the game in graphics wise is ultimate.
Sound 10 I still love the soundtrack even though it's old.I still play the credits song over and over until i stop. When i play the game i mostly focus on the sound then the gameplay since it's so good and catchy and nobody can say it was terrible.I really want to see a remake or a stage in ssb to have any stage with the credits song. That would be a dream.
Addictiveness 10 When I got the ds version for my birthday I wouldnt stop until i had to go to sleep. There is so much the game has to offer and it's like a accomplishment to beat bowser or get the stars or get to yoshi by getting all stars.I love both versions becauseof what they gave.
Story 8 I gave it a 8 for one reason. The story is always the same until Super Mario 3D World came. All you got to do is beat bowser and save peach, but this game was different since you go and get stars but the only boss was bowser.
Depth 9 As I said the game has a lot to offer. You need to beat bowser to "beat" the game but they gave you the option to get every single power star which is hard to do.Yes it takes time to beat the game but that's why the game is so addictive!
Difficulty 8 The game isn't that hard to beat but there are like 3 level that everyone hates. Tick Tock Clock, Rainbow Ride and the last bowser level.
At the end of the day even though you didn't beat the game you enjoyed and I did I to. Hope you like this game and my review and never get raged!

peach.
princess toadstool.
.......dont you want to kill yourself so bad it is?
depth:do I need to say more.its a Mario game!
there is everywhere a secret to be found.
in a wall ,in the ground,in the ceiling and even in enemies!

Mario's First Leap to 3D   VizzedGuy111
Super Mario 64 Review
Ah, Super Mario 64! It's a memorable game for the N64 and Mario's first 3D game! Like nearly all of my reviews, the review is going to be consisted of 6 topics and overall to judge the game. The game is played by Youtubers and also it has a DS remake, including 3 new characters, Wario, (The fat guy who loves money and a jumping guy) Luigi, (Mario's brother who's 2nd best and even had a year about him) and the cute dinosaur himself Yoshi. (A cute dinosaur who can eat enemies and turn them into eggs.) The game is a platformer and if you want to see a review about this here you go. So, anyway enough with all these nonsense and lets jump to the review! (Warning: I haven't play the whole game, so don't blame me if I get things wrong.
   Graphics 6/10
The graphics are okay, for the N64 i guess. There are so many polygons with pictures planted in them and I find them okay. I mean without them the game would look weird, right? The animation is pretty smooth. I mean you can move easily and the enemies' movement is probably well, slow. However. if you are a kid from the 1990s, you probably find them impressive. So I give it a 6/10 rating.
   Sound 7/10
After the SNES is the N64 right? Idk. However, the sound is well... good! I mean the music was pretty catchy so you may hum it while you go outside. The sound has Mario jumping, you hear cannon noise, and all that stuff. This game also has Mario talking probably for the first time so that's why the sound is impressive. I give it a good 7/10 rating.
   Addictiveness 5/10
Let me talk about the addictiveness now. The addictiveness is okay because you may want to complete the game and get all the stars. The only thing you can do in this game is just completing this game, exploring around the game, and just messing around with the controls. In the remake is kinda better. You do all that stuff, but you can actually unlock stuff (when I mean that, I mean things like unlockables) like unlocking characters, plus you can play minigames! However, since it is the first 3D Mario game I have to give it credit. So I give the addictiveness a half out of 10 rating. (5/10)
   Story 4/10
Now the story, the most important thing about most games. The story is the same old boring story again from Super Mario Bros. to Modern Mario games. However, let me tell you the story in Super Mario 64 in more details. Mario is given a letter from Princess Toadstool (or what you probably all of you know, Peach) that she baked a cake for him. However, Princess Toadstool is missing, so Mario have to rescue her. I give the story a 4/10 rating.
   Depth 6/10
Lets talk about the depth now (the amount of content in the game.). I never experienced the whole game but I do there's a lot stars total in this game so at least the game has to be big right? Anyway, there's paintings in which you go to in order to access a level. In those levels, you must get a star for completing the level, collect red stars, or for completing a task. You also face bosses in which they have stars too, but Bowser (The evil Koopa) has a key in order to unlock doors. The outside and inside of the castle is basically your hub world and yeah.
I give the depth 6/10 rating.
   Difficulty 6/10
Finally, the difficulty to decide if the game is playable or not. There's spots in which you have to balance and there's races too. Besides, this game is a platformer so this game can be difficult. This is a short topic to talk about but I give the difficulty a 6/10.
Anyway I'm done with this review, so if you haven't play Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64, go play it! Have fun!

Super mario 64 A well must play!   SuperCrash64
Ah as the good old plumber our good old Mario it seems like his days in 2d were over  but that's not to say Mario going in 3d Is a bad thing no I did not say that at all This game is totally worth Checking out  Now some of you may say Mario was a 2d plumber first day on the original Nintendo entertainment system well actually to be correction  he 1st appeared As a originally known Jump man Jump man was a simple name for What later became Mario. Cause you are a man and you jump over things the rather term Jump man is used. All the Mario games in 2d were awesome. But Some of his 3d games "aka" Mario tennis and Mario's clash on the Virtual boy those games were not all that great. So you might as well question Does that go the same way for Super Mario 64?  Let's find out in my review of it.
The genre is known as a 3rd person perspective and a plat former. But in this case  I would say it's a Adventure game because the game honestly kind of feels that way.
Things that were gonna be included but did not happen.
Originally The game was meant to be 2 player as like the good old Mario bros player 1 would be Mario player 2 would be Luigi but Nintendo did not want it that way do to issues because of the camera mode that is in the game.
Secret weird things that I think I found out.
okay Most people assumed  the star statue of L is real 2041.Either meant you could unlock Luigi by using some weird code or trick. Others thought it meant it was referring to Luigi being in paper Mario in which was released in 2004. But I researched the Super Mario 64 Ds on wikipedia and found out the game was released on November 21,2004. So if you think about the order L is real meant which is 2041 2004 21 take the 2 from which ever you choose from 2004 or 21st  take the 0 and take the 4 and take the 1 from 21. That gets you 2041 so I think Nintendo was trying to Possibly make a hint that Luigi was gonna be a unlock able character in super Mario 64 Ds  but they possibly wanted it to be kept a secret. If that's the case Secret exposed *does evil laugh*.  You can find the statue in the place where you find big boo.
Commonly Known
Glitches shown that are popular.  Rankings 1 Would be the stair  jump glitch Where bow ser Say's to get to the endless door you need 70 stars somehow you press Z and the A button then Mario goes slowly yahoo backwards. Then Goes like crazy fast sliding through the stairs. Second place Mario killed by a door glitch somehow  a guy managed to get Mario Dead but he ended up Putting the required amount of star's to unlock the next area then Mario dies through the door...creepy right. Last place Getting through the trap door glitch this is done sort of the same way you do the bow ser stairs glitch.note I saw this on a Tool assisted speed run so I cant guarantee it will work for you readers. Anyways I saw somebody doing a backwards yahoo jump lots of times then Mario went sliding really fast  again and avoided the trap door to the bow ser/peach picture
Plot The Plot of Super Mario 64 You play as The old plumber in 3d  you collect at least 70 or more stars then defeat the boss.
Graphics
I feel if they deserve at least a 9 rating from me. The Graphics Rather Show off fairly Well Sprites look great for The 1st 3d Mario title At least the 1st 3d Mario game that did well Mario himself Looks Nice and well detailed Despite the look or appearance of  him looking a bit Choppy but It's understandable because The time this was released 3d games were still a pretty new invention for the time and took some proper work and tweaking to make it look like what 3d games does today. Stages themselves look great They all have some Pretty spooky intense Details in them which Makes the game have a good feel or has its charm.
Sound the Sound Is pretty good  The character's now have voice samples as were in the other older Mario games they just had some jumping sound effects. So yea the sound variety is pretty nice and has a lot of voice samples that makes the game feel nice to play. The main thing you would want to hear is the variety of Rich Tunes that this game has The composition is really well done its just sounds great Despite this game being on a cartridge we got some real high quality music or tunes out of this game. My favorite 1 is The sea theme cause of how nicely it is composed. Sound would get a 10 just a nice game with really high quality tracks in it.
Addictiveness
What makes the game addicting? The quality and feel of this adventure and collecting the stars and figuring out Easter eggs and the boatload of glitches makes the game really fun I just could not stop Playing it Like paper Mario this game was pretty fun easy and Addicting to play as a matter of fact I actually played this more often then paper Mario I had beaten it like 11 times and I just could not really stop even there I guess you could  say I was nuts when I got addicted to the game. Its just 1 of those games you try to resist playing but cant do it. Addictiveness rating 10 really addicting classic adventure platform game.
Story In the beginning of the game after you click which game you want to start in. You get a message from the Princess of mushroom kingdom that says. Dear Mario Please come to the castle I had baked a cake for you... yours truly Princess toadstool Peach. But when you arrive to the castle. You'll see a unusual amount of toads or people missing including Princess peach. And to top it off you get a welcome no ones home now scram and don't ever come back. The reason for a lot of people missing is because of bow ser stealing star power from the castle and creating painting that are actually worlds.where you collect stars from. So that's the storyline of Super Mario 64 It is somewhat close to the Paper Mario storyline. I will give it a 7 for rating
Depth this game offers a lot of stars to collect. Stuff to earn stuff to unlock and see its a pretty big game which is a good thing  I cant exactly describe all whats up with the game because there's just a lot of things you can find to do. Depth gets a 10 full of nice and neat things to do along with glitches to pull off as well
Difficulty 6 to be honest I thought the game is pretty easy Only challenge I ever had was with the bosses and even now I kind of overacted the difficulty of the bosses when I played the game back then. The hardest person of course is the 3rd and final fight against bow ser things start to get a little frustrating around there so good luck against him.
Overall Super Mario 64 Is definitely a well game not sure if you want to play it a lot but its totally worth trying  9.8 for ratings

Awesome Mario game   TheeDragoniteMa..
this is going to be a short and simple review
I havent played this game on the N64 but i played the remake version on the DS. the only difference between the 2 is the graphics and the fact that you can play as yoshi, mario, luigi and wario.
the aim of this game is to try and get all of the stars so you can move futher into the castle where bowser has princess peach.
this was the first 3d mario game and one ofthe best. if you jump on a koopa you can ride on its shell and it tries to chase after you. i always found that funny because its a naked turtle running after you and it is actually quite fast.
im not sure if this is in the original version but in the DS version you could play with other people and there would be about 5 stars around the map and you have to try and get them and the person with the most stars wins.
im probably going to get confuzzled with the original and the remake so i am going to just get on with the review.
Graphics: the graphics are very good, good enough for the first 3d mario game. i think nintendo worjed really hard on this because they not only had to re create characters in 3d but make new ones like the monkey that steals marios hat. i give the
graphics 8/10
Sound: the sound is sooo good. i loved the song when you are wing mario (when you have wings on your hat and you can fly). all the sound tracks we amazing. i give the sound 9/10
Addictiveness: this game is very addictive. i didnt stop trying to get all of the stars. it is such an amazing game that you just have to play it 24/7 which is why it is so addicting. i give the addictiveness 9/10
Story: i dont think there is much of a story to this game but it is better than the story for all of the super mario bros games. you cant really tell what the story is so i am just going to sort of make it up: bowser has stole the castles power and hidden the power stars in the paintings. the only way to get to him is to gather up the power stars. i give the story 7/10
Depth: this game is very long if you want to get every single power star. it is very long without getting all of them. i give the depth 9/10
Difficulty: the game it self itsnt difficult but searching for the power stars is very difficult. the bosses arent so hard either but to get them is. i give the difficulty 8/10
overall: overall this game is the best of its kind. the only other mario game that is just as good mario sunshine which is similar because you have to get star sprites. i reccomend this game to anyone and everyone. overall i give his epic mario game 9.1/10
i hope you enjoyed my review

This game started it all.   MitsuriZX
Super Mario 64...this game brings back memories of my childhood. It was one of my first games, and not only that,it was an awesome game. Running through the fields, stomping goombas and getting stars...and whenever i got one of those,Mario would say : Here We Go!
I'm going to inevitably rate this game high. But,let's start slowly.
Super Mario 64 is a 3D Platformer in which you must run, jump, and punch/kick your way through worlds, collecting stars and coins. The story is nothing new,but hey,if it's not broken, then don't fix it. Peach has invited Mario to her castle so that they can eat the delicious cake that Peach has made. (By the way,the cake is not a lie.). However, when you arrive there,Peach is nowhere to be found. You soon find out that Bowser's minion's have captured Peach, and using the stars power, they've created worlds inside paintings. Your job is to enter those paintings, retrieve those stars, and restore the star power to the castle.
By collecting those stars, you will unlock new worlds to explore. There are 120 stars, and i should tell you, this game was made for people who like to complete games 100%. It is not ridiculously hard to obtain the 120 stars, but it will take time to do so. Anyway, you will need only 70 of those in order to access the final world. The castle acts as a lobby, which you can traverse easily, without any kind of danger. There are three power-ups in this game which will give you even more access to more places.
The Wing Cap allows you to fly freely through worlds, the Metal Cap turns you into metal, which allows you to walk underwater, and the Invisible Cap allows you to pass through certain walls. There are also 15 hidden stars that cannot be acquired by normal means. If you are a decent player, you will be able to find all of those 15 hidden stars rather easily. Also, you can execute different jumps by using a combination of directionals, and then jumping.
If you jump three times in a row,you will execute the triple jump.
If you crouch, them jump, you will execute the back somersault.
If you run, then crouch, then jump, you will execute the long jump.
You can also execute a variety of attacks, such as the diving attack, and the sliding kick. You will need all your moves in order to acquire all the 120 stars.
If you've never played Super Mario 64,then play it now. This game is so good,if it was my only game ever,i would be happy enough. When you have Super Mario 64,you don't need other games. Super Mario 64 IS the absolute game. You feel so happy,so nostalgic,it is somenthing that just cannot be put into words. So just play it. You will see what i mean.

Today I bring you an absolute hallmark in the history of video gaming.   RedHotToddy
1996 was a big year for me, I say this because this year we were all entering the next generation of gaming, Nintendo and Sony were competing for eachother for the best 3D game console, Each with their own game to show what the console can do, Over at Sony, they were making the awesome 3D adventure game we All know and love, Crash bandicoot, for the Sony PlayStation, The PlayStation was one of the first consoles to uses CD'S for games. Meanwhile at Nintendo, they were busy making Super Mario 64, a 3D adventure game with our favorite plumber Mario, This game has been critically acclaimed as the greatest 3D platformer of all time, But does It hold up today after all of these years? Let's find out will we?
Story-8/10
I will say, the plot in this game a little bit reminds me of the first game, but Here is how It goes. The game starts off with Princes peach reading us a letter she wrote for Mario about a cake that she was going to bake him, Then we get a good view of Peach's castle, and last but not least, Our hero Mario finally jumps into action! Mario then walks into the castle, He is warned by Bowser that she has kidnapped peach and that he must collect power stars to save her. Oh well, I'm pretty sure this is the plot.
Gameplay-9/10
Super Mario 64 is a 3D platformer like no other, In this game, you control Mario as you adventure through more then 20 big levels doing a bunch of quests and whatnot in order to earn power stars, You see, Power stars are the currency of this game, They will let you access new area to explore more. Anyways, Mario is armed with alot of moves, such as a ground pound, a punch,?a dive, etc.?In order to get from each level to another, you will have to run around Princess peach's castle, all of the main?worlds in this whole game are located in paintings behind of doors, with the exception of some levels like snowman's land which can be founding by jumping into a yellow wall. Each level is crazier then the last, which is exactly what I expect from a Nintendo game, Some levels have you doing tasks so crazy, Only this game can do It well, and that is why I like It!?Mario will be collecting a disposal of Items and powers duing his quest, some items include coins, blue coins, etc. Powers include the wing cap, which will let you fly in the air, The vanish cap which lets him turn invisible, etc. Anyways, that Is what I can say for the gameplay.
Graphics-10/10
The graphics are simply put, AMAZING. Every single world you will be exploring is big, colorful, and bursting with atmosphere. As for the characters, they look pretty darn good as well! Mario looks like himself, Peach looks like herself, Bowser looks like himself, heck the game even brings back some of Mario's old enemies like goomba and koopa! Including some new ones as well. The HUD in the game is pretty self explanatory, It shows how much Health you have until you die, How many coins you have collected, And how many lives you have left until you get a game over. I must say Nintendo put alot of effort into this game before putting It on the shelves of Target walmart and toys'R'us, unlike some developers who just rush the game in time for the holiday season without testing It completely, Sega, I'm looking right at you.
Sound-10/10
The sound, oh yeah, the sound, The sound in this game is probably one of the best Mario soundtracks I have heard in a while! All songs you will be hearing in each level fit the mood alot, such as Boo's haunted house, or Dire dire docks. As for the sound effects, they are pretty good as well! You get your coin sound effects, your punch, etc.? This was also one of the first games to truly show Charles martinet's amazing Mario voice, which has been saved into our heads for god knows how long.
Addictiveness-10/10
Is this a game I am going to play again? Oh yes, If I?had anything to do in my life, It would be collect all 120 power stars in this whole entire game, But I am still at 110, which is pretty good If you ask me! I had alot of fun playing the game back as a little kid as well, No make that alot of memories.
Depth-9/10
One thing you need to know, this game offers so much to do and collect! I am not kidding, there are 120 power stars in total for this adventure, and getting some of them takes alot of skill and strategy that is for sure. So in general the game is a big 10-15 hour quest with so much stuff to do It's insane! I still play the game to this day.
Difficulty-8/10
This game was flipping hard! But is that a bad thing? No, not at all! I like a challenge you know, and this is not an exception. The game is quite hard and can get you frustrated at times (Tick tock clock) But if you are good enough at video games, then this game should not be too much of a challenge for you.
Overall-10/10
To everybody here on vizzed board, do yourself a huge favor and please buy this amazing 3D platformer! It is pretty cheap these days and I would not be surprised If I found It for a penny. So I gave this game a 10 because how amazingly fun It is and the amount of content It offers for you. So if there are any last words It would be, Please buy this right now! And also be aware that they also remade this game for the Nintendo DS called Super mario 64 DS, get that one if you can! This has been your favorite reviewer RedHotToddy, and I am signing out! See you all in my next review!

SM64: meh   thing1
Today, I will review Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64.
Graphics: 8
The graphics are pretty good for a Nintendo 64. However, because of the depth of them, the actually 3-dimensional lines you can see, it gets old sort of fast, and compared to today's game;s graphics, they are not all the great. However, they are pretty good for this game's time, so I will give it a solid eight.
Sound: 9
The sounds are great. One of my favorite things to hear from this game is that when you turn it on, it goes: "It's a Me! Mario!" If you try saying it a few times with the game, it can get very addicting. The sounds in each "stage" are different from each other, and are suited to the each individual challenge. This is very cool and neat, and interesting. I imagine quite a bit of the budget alone went into the sounds and audio. So, this game gets a excellent nine in sound.
Addictiveness: 5
Super Mario 64 is only addicting for two reasons, and only if it applies to you:
1. You are a Mario fanatic, or
2. You hate it when you can not get past a part, so you just deal with it, find another one, and move on.
This game was pretty good on Nintendo 64, but the remake for the Nintendo DS, Super Mario 64 DS, was very aggravating. I traded it in after about a week of playing it for maybe 2 hours a day. The Nintendo 64 one was decent. But, as I mentioned above, it was not very addicting because it was very aggravating. So this game gets a "meh" 5.
Story: 8
Super Mario 64 is alright. The story is pretty much the same: Bowser kidnaps Peach, Mario finally finds Bowser, beats him up, defeats him, rescues Peach, and then: Happily Ever After. But, even though this game does follow that story line, it is changed up a bit. You have things to help you along the way. I will not spoil anything, but this is a bonus, so that adds to the appeal of the story, causing me to have to give it a solid 8 as well.
Depth: 10
This game takes a very long time to beat. It took my father maybe 2 years to beat it, playing about 5 hours a week. There are so many different maps, different missions, so to speak, to do. There is just the right amount of too much to comprehend, and enough to keep you guessing. Therefore, I am giving this a perfect 10.
Difficulty: 8
This game is very difficult, to me at least. There are a few parts that I complete gave up on until I had nothing else left to do, forcing me to go back and finally beat it to move on. However, it is not getting a ten because it is beatable, even if it might take forever to finally beat, and because if you are a Mario fan, then you are probably used to the difficulty of some of the Mario games. That means this game gets a solid 8 in difficulty.
Overall: 8.6
I am giving this game an 8.6 in overall, because it is a Mario game. Also, it is pretty interesting, if you actually play it. I would definitely recommend it to a new user on this site, any Mario game fan, or a fan of games that have really long story modes.
This has been another thing1 game review. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to ask them here.

Super Mario 64: One of the best   MARIOPWNZ64
Super Mario 64 has got to be one of the greatest games every created, and I am not just saying this because everyone else does. This coming from someone who had beaten the game with all the stars. But hey, I am MARIOPWNZ64 and this is my review of Super Mario 64.  Remember while I review this I am expressing my opinions on a video game that I think is very good and these are MY opinions so if you respect my opinions I will the same to you!
GRAPHICS=9
Oh my, the graphics in this game are just superb. It was the first time in video game history that Mario went to 3D and it shaped the way we video game today! The graphics were amazing and were colorful and polished, You can easily tell were you are and what something is and it is was to Good, The animations are also very good as well, My favorite animation would have to be when Mario had been waiting for so long and decides to go to sleep and it just makes me want to laugh, so I am giving the graphics a generous rating of 9.
SOUND=10
The soundtrack of this game is very memorable and deserve to be recognized a little bit more, from the fantastic theme of bomb-omb battlefield to the final boss of the game. It makes you want to jam out to the music, also I want to mention a fun piece of trivia! Did you know that in the Japanese version of Super Mario 64, Mario did not speak and was silent the whole game? So putting the fact aside, I am giving this game's soundtrack a 10.
STORY=10
The story is very simple, Mario is invited to the Mushroom Kingdom to have some cake with Peach, However, once he arrives he is greeted with Bowser explaining to him that he had imprisoned all of the inhabitants of the Kingdom into the various paintings throughout the castle and it is up to Mario to collect the power stars to restore and rescue the Mushroom Kingdom, the story is simple and Memorable, and so I am giving this game's story a 10.
DEPTH=10
Once you finish the game you want more action right? Well, there are about 120 stars to collect and a lot of them are hidden secret stars, the game's story is very massive and will not be beaten by a casual in one sitting, its like a constant quest to save the kingdom, with a game as big as this there is no doubt that I am giving it a 10.
 DIFFICULTY=4
This is not a hard game and the controls are easy to master, It might not seem like it but the game is the average in difficulty standards, You press A to jump, You use the analogue stick to walk in 8 directions. What else do you need, its like the old Mario except with a few changes, so I am giving this game's difficulty rating a 4.
ADDICTIVENESS=10
This game is very addicting and I even played and completed the game a second time just because it was so great, you know what I mean by playing it a second time and completing it, so I am giving this game's addictiveness a 10.
OVERALL SCORE=9.9
It's was a great day to see Mario jump to 3D and this game had a lot of effort put into it and is one of my most favorite games EVER MADE This game changed the way we play games introducing us to elements like traveling in 8 directions to the scrolling camera There is no doubt that this game is extremely popular, and thus concludes my review of Super Mario 64!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!

First 3D Mario Game!   acool193
Here is my review of Super Mario 64! It was released in 1996.
First, This was the very first Mario Game that had a 3-D Element. And This Is The First Mario Game That Brought Use Of Mario's Voice.
Story: 9 The Story is Princess Peach invited Mario for some cake at the castle, seems nothing could go wrong right?
Well You are Wrong, Bowser comes and steals 105 of the castle's power stars while missing 15 of them in the castle and then kidnaps Princess Peach again (sigh). Then Mario comes and gos to collect the power stars bowser stole in 15 courses, and then the Secret Stars also.
Mario will have to fight bowser three times in the process.
Addictiveness: 9 This Game Is Very Fun To Play, But It is Very Long If You Don't Use Cheats or skip stars But It is very Addicting.
Sound: 7 The Game Now Has a sound track for each world which is surprisingly new in the Mario Series and the sound is very good but there are some tracks that I do Not Like Such As Jolly Roger's Bay. Also This Game Introduces The Mario Voice Straight At The Beginning
Graphics: 10 Like I said before, Super Mario 64 has a 3-D Element and some graphics are just WAY better than the older ones.
But There is Courses Which It Is Very Hard To See In Like Jolly Roger's Bay and Tick Tock Clock because they have fog which covers some platforms and other things.
Depth: 9 This Game Is Very Long To Beat, Even TAS's of this game are 2+ hours without cheats. You Only Need At Least 70 Stars To Beat the game, but if you Are Collecting All 120 Stars, This Game Is Probably Going To Take More Than One Day To Beat. Some New Moves Are Brought Into The Mario Series Like The Walk Kick and The Change Of The Camera Angles, That Is Right! The Game Screen Is A Camera Being Hold By A Lakitu, What? Also, Mario Back flip, Ground Pound, Punch, Kick. ETC. The Game Also Introduces New Enemies Such As Whomps, Fly Guys, Mr. I, Clams, Spin Drifts, and Many More. Then At The End Once You Get 120 Stars, You Can Use The Cannon Outside The Castle and Shoot To The Top of the Castle And You Can Talk To Yoshi And Then He Will Give You 100 Lives and a Star triple jump!
There Is Also The Wing Cap That Can Allow Mario to Fly, The Vanish Cap To Make Mario Transparent, and The Metal Cap To Make Mario Metal.
Difficulty: 5 The Game Is Not Too Difficult at all if you are Skipping some stars and the controls are not to hard to learn, but the camera angle sometimes changes at a bad time and causes you to die.
Well That Pretty Much Wraps Up My Review Of Super Mario 64, Overall It is a very good game and there is not too much else to say about it.
Overall Score: 8.1

Super Mario 64 Is a cool game!   Popeye116
I like the game "Super Mario64" It's a fun game that can help pass time. (and it's family friendly, too! XD). This is my review for the game:
Graphics: 7
The graphics are a little bit bad in this game. There are just some weird things, like when your able to mess with mario's face at the beginning. The graphics vary. At some levels, like the Bowser ones, i love the graphics. At others, like the first level, the graphics can disappoint. The graphics are also very good at Jolly Roger Bay (was that the name of it? It is the first underwater level. The one on the door to the right on the first floor. Ya.) But, i have to admit, that altogether, The graphics are pretty good, and deserving of a 7
Sound: 8
The sound in this game can get very catchy! I always find myself humming along to the "Tall Tall Mountain" theme. I also like the theme at the "Press Start" Area, and at the snowy areas. The sound affects are also OK. Pretty much every enemy you defeat either does the goomba stomp noise, or the thwomp noise when defeated. Honestly, None of the music has ever really disappointed me. The music isn't THAT good, though, so I give the sound an 8.
Addictiveness: 8
This game is addicting at times. Sometimes you just want to get 1 more star. Then maybe just 1 more. And then ONLY 1 more. And then 1 more star, and that's it. After 1 more star. See what I mean? This game can get very addicting. I give the games addictiveness an 8.
Story: 6
The story is the same in this game as any other game. Princess Peach invites Mario to her castle for something, and when mario gets there Bowser kidnaps her and mario has to go through many different in - game levels to save her. The only reason that I a m giving the story a six instead of a 5 is that the castle people are stuck in walls and mario has to collect stars to open doors and fight bowser and free them. Also, there are a couple side-things and stuff....Anyways, I give the Story a 6.
Depth: 10
This game takes A LONG time to complete. It may not take AS long to simply beat bowser, but to get 120 stars...Ho, Boy, that's gonna take you AT LEAST 4 months. Even on a copy irl (i own a copy of SM64 and a N64 in real life ^_^). I haven't even done it in real life yet. I'm somewhere around 100 stars. i think i have 96. Anyways, This game has a lot of Depth, so i give the Depth a 10
Difficulty:10
This game can get very hard. Some stars can take up to 20 lives to get. Especially that one where you shoot in a cannon to a star on the mushroom. I found a secret way to get that star, but I'm not going to tell you ;). Anyways, this game's difficulty varies. Some stars are easy as pie, and some make you die many times. I give the difficulty a 10
Wrap things up
Anyways, this is a very fun game. It's relaxing, fun, and just awesome! I'd reccomend playing it, and/or getting it in real life. And that's the end of my review :P

Definition of Nostalgia   NinjaX
Super Mario 64 has become one of the most recognizable games of all time and one of the greatest games ever made.
Depth: This game has the challenge for the player to collect all 120 Power Stars, some stars are very difficult to acquire.  This is a very good challenge and once accomplished, the player will feel ultimate satisfaction, no doubt about it.  As a result from the 120 stars, the depth is phenomenal, it took me at least 2 months to finish the whole thing and collect all the stars. 10/10
Sound: The sound effects are generally typical for a Mario game, instantly recognizable. I never forget the time when I first heard Bowser's laugh, I freaked out and didn't touch the game for a few days, funny thing is that I was just starting up the game when it happened. 9/10
Story: Basically, Mario has to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser's clutches yet again.  Generally the same for almost every Mario game before and after.  It's become clichéd, but the story is still very fun. 10/10
Graphics: At the time of its release, the graphics were legendary, being the first Mario game to use 3D graphics and one of the first games on the memorable Nintendo 64.  Nowadays, the graphics have aged well, even put some of the current games to shame.  Super Mario 64 has a great camera system, why can't most of the current games have that feature?  Also, the animation of the game was spot on fantastic, one of the best I've ever seen in a video game. 10/10
Difficulty: As I stated before, the game can be notoriously hard due to the challenge of collecting all the Power Stars, but the downside is the boss battles.  The bosses were way too easy (Nintendo does this flaw a lot), but they are still memorable.  I still remember being intimated when I fought the final boss for the first time, I had trouble getting into the flow of the battle, but, thankfully, it all worked out in the end.  7/10
Music: The music was really memorable, I remember every piece in the game by heart.  My favorite piece of the score was during the final boss, the music was awesome during and is the very reason why this battle is one of my favorite boss battles. Anyway, the downside is that some of the score is relatively the same in several levels, especially if certain levels repeats a certain theme (3 Water, 2 Ice, 3 Fire).  The music is still easy to remember and fun to listen to.  10/10
Addictiveness: Super Mario 64 will basically force the player to play and finish the game non-stop for at least a few months, even after the game is finished I still dusted of my old Nintendo 64, put the game in, and have a blast once again, even after I finished the game almost 17 years ago. 10/10
Final thoughts: Super Mario 64 is still one of my favorite video games of all time because of the awesome game play, revolutionary graphics, memorable boss battles, and tons of replay value.  Just a really fun game that will still be enjoyed for many generations to come.

It'sa me, Mario!!!   freakyforrest9
It'sa me Mario! This game is, without a doubt, one of the best games I've ever played. This game was a game I would play as much as Star Fox 64, and Pokémon Stadium 2. It's been years since I last played this game. Thanks to Vizzed, I can play it again. This game has some ups and downs. Let's find out where this game stands.
Graphics: 8- This game has good graphics, but I've seen better. It isn't bad, don't get me wrong, but I think Nintendo could've done better with the graphics. Mario looks too basic for a 3D game. But Bowser, back in the day, was WAY better looking than Mario. Peach also looks better than Mario.
Sound: 9- The game has AMAZING sound, just not good enough for a 10. The music is so great, I hum it, even though I haven't played it years between the last time I played it on my real N64 to my knowledge of Vizzed. Mario's stepping sound is so spot on, it's crazy. Heck, even the sound of him jumping into a painting is nice to hear.
Addictiveness: 9- This game is addictive all the way, even with those annoying moments where you die a death that you thought "I should've died like that." Well that's life as a gamer for you. Just don't over do it with this game, and you're good.
Story: 6- Same old story, just different game. Save Princess Toadstool, aka Peach, from the clutches of the evil king koopa, Bowser. But you'll need to collect stars to save Peach, otherwise you won't get no cake.
Depth: 6- The game doesn't offer much. After beating the game and collecting all 120 stars, you'll unlock the cannon outside where you can go to the roof of the castle and talk to yoshi. He'll give you 100 lives and the triple jump ability. You can go back to the levels, battle bowser one more time to get a new message from him. Other than that, it's the same.
Difficulty: 7- The game isn't too difficult, until you reach Bowser for the third and final time. No spoilers, just watch or play it and you'll see what I mean.
Overall: 7- Overall the game has its ups and downs, but It's a game worth playing for newer Mario fans.
Thank you for your time reading this. If you liked this review, read my Pokémon Sapphire and Star Fox 64 reviews.

One of the greatest 64 games out there today   PD Man
"Dear Mario,
Please come to the castle. I've baked a cake for you
Yours truly,
Princess Toadstool.
"Peach"
An instant classic,Super Mario 64 is one of the best Nintendo 64 games I've ever played. With awesome game play and nice controls,Mario's first 3D game is fun and addicting. This game will keep u on for hours trying to collect those Stars. With neat levels, colorful graphics, and 3D worlds,SM64 is a must play for all Mario fans. Even the new ones. With awesome sound quality, and views with the camera control, this game is a hit. Its fun. Its neat. Its awesome. Its epic. Its challenging enough for any gamer. Its just a normal day in the mushroom kingdom, when Bowser kidnaps Peach. Shocker. Who's there to save the day? That's right,Mario. Mario's gotta explore the castle and its many world paintings (which is a portal to the many worlds btw) Mario will meet new friends and enemies, big and small. Even in the literal Big and Small world. This game can be found quite humorous in many ways too. This game is the perfect game for those who need to get a warm welcome into the Nintendo 64 universe. The controls are nice. The sound's alright. The game play's swell. The graphics are good....enough for Mario's first 3D game. This game is a must have for gamers and fans everywhere.

Its a me, Mario!   vhero
Mario has starred in MANY different games, but my favourite for the N64? This. Super Mario 64. Every single bit of it is epic, and I love the level design.
Graphics:
8. All of Mario's sprites (or polygons, whatever), are in sync. Toad, well... jumps. Sort of weird if you ask me, but this game has awesome level design. Also the characters.
Sound: 10. No, I'm serious. This has incredible music, awesome voices and epic sounds. Awesome.
Addictiveness: 8. This is a game you'll want to play over and over again. ;)
Story: 3. Its just like EVERY single Mario game. Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser and Mario has to save her, blah blah.
Depth: 10. With 123 stars to collect and so many power ups, this is a game that will please you TREMENDOUSLY.
Difficulty: 5. This a game where its easy to learn, harder to master.
Overall: 9.1, All Mario fans should at LEAST have this game. If YOU don't have this game and your just looking at the site, Grab yourself an emulator.

Super Mario 64   Austin Winter
Super Mario 64 is the perfect portrayal of Mario in 3D. This game has all the feeling and elements that a Mario game should have. The story is a great remix of the generic "Bowser captures Princess Peach". The game takes place within paintings. You jump into a painting and you can explore the world within them. Earn stars by completing specific missions in each painted world and unlock new rooms and paintings. There are many secrets to be had in this epic installment. The Nintendo DS released a higher quality version of this already amazing game, adding depth to the playability. Furthermore, speed runners will love this game do to its time based star collecting system. Super Mario 64  is a game for all ages, offering many things that almost all gamers will find fun.

Super Mario 64: One of the greatest games ever made.   emul11
Nintendo, Nintendo, Nintendo... what else can I say? You've already made your heavenly contribution with the NES and SNES. (Text me when you get to Valhalla, Miyamoto.) But no. You didn't stop there. With the N64, you REVOLUTIONIZED gaming... again! The first real 3D gaming console, the N64 allowed new ideas to flourish, new concepts to be created, there were no limits! Super Mario 64 Proved this. So, why is this game awesome? Let's find out!
Graphics: 9. Being a launch title for the N64, this game had to show what the console could do. And it did. Oh it did. At the time, no one ever imagined graphics looking like this. It amazed people all across the world. But, these days, N64 graphics aren't the best in the world. Things have changed. Game graphics are better. So the graphics get a 9.
Sound: 7. Again, revolutionary! The sound was absolutely beautiful... at the time. In 2013, the sound is mediocre. I mean, some of the songs actually repeat for levels! (Bob-omb Valley, Thwomp's Fortress, and Tiny-Huge Island are examples of this.) Plus, you hear the same sounds over and over again. But, I digress. The sound gets a 7.
Addictiveness: 10. Need I say more? The game is diverse, and I have yet to fully complete the game... that is, get all 120 stars. Yes, 120 stars. So you'll be coming back to this game a lot. But wait, there's more! There are hidden stars and levels in the GOOD hubworld, Peach's Castle. So addictiveness gets a 10.
Story: 2. It's the basic Mario story. Bowser Kidnaps Peach and seals away 120 power stars within the walls of the castle. Next!
Depth: 10. 120 stars. 120 STARS! You will not beat this game in 1 sitting. CASE. CLOSED!
Difficulty: 6. This game is moderately challenging, so it will take a little while to be able to collect 80 stars to fight Ultimate Bowser. But, there are glitches so you can bypass the challenges, along with the endless stairs, so the difficulty gets a 6.
Overall: 10. Please, please. If you're reading this, go out and play this game. NOW! You won't be disappointed.

Review for Super Mario 64   IgorBird122
I haven't done a review on a game for a little while so I figure I'll create one.
Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64, pretty much one of the best games in the series to date. I remember when I used to own a Nintendo 64, this was pretty much the game I play it on and nothing else to be honest because this game is that good.
The Graphics:
For the Graphics I can say, being the first Mario game in 3D, the graphics are pretty decent for it's time and a lot of effects
--------
The Sound/Music:
The Sound and the Music in this game is very great for the N64, the music sounds wonderful and nice and clear. and the music in each of the levels does 100% fit in with the level which makes it great. As for the sounds, especially the voices, the voices are outstanding, being the first game we hear Mario and Peach talk which is great, as for the sound effects, they got a lot of realism into them which is nice.

I give this a 9 out of 10.
--------
The Addictiveness:
The addiction level in this game is very high, this game right here really wants the player to come back and play on this game over and over. With a lot I can do in this game, this makes people come back for more. Even know I have beaten this game before, that doesn't mean I'm tired of the game, this game here wants me to keep on playing even after I have beaten it.

I give this a prefect 10 out of 10.
--------
The Story:
The Story in the game is pretty much what you mostly exect in a normal Mario game, Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach, but unlike past games, this has a little twist, instead of going though levels in order, you pretty much have to gain enough stars in different worlds to face Bowser and rescue Peach once again.

I give this a 9 out of 10.
--------
The Depth
For the first 3D Mario game, they're so much Depth in the game, it has a lot of features that you haven't seen in past Mario games, like I mentioned above that instead of going in order to save the princess, you can go though many levels you want to gain stars and once you go, you can face Bowser. Not just the stars which gave this game Depth, but also, this game here also have a thing where you can move parts of Mario's face which can be really fun to try out.

I give this a prefect 10 out of 10.
--------
The Difficulty:
The Game isn't really that hard, if you're used to playing this game (nether on the N64, or the DS remake) then you pretty much know how to play this game, mostly the hard part is controlling Mario in the 3D world, but once you get used to the controls, the game can become pretty easy to play. For the gameplay, it's not that hard, even getting those 70 stars to face Bowser, they're easier that you think, even know some parts of it will take a little bit of time.

I give this a 6 out of 10
--------
The Sound/Music:
Overall, this game is really nice and great to try out someday if you haven't, it's a fun and interesting game nonetheless. For me, I would really recommend this game to play, this game is the game that set Mario off into the 3D format in later games

Overall, I give this a 9.6 out of 10.

First game I ever 100%ed   iluvkiwibirds
This is the first game I ever 100%ed so I have a very huge nostalgia bias towards it ( that and my love for 3 dimensional collectothon platform video games). It has amazing graphics for it being a launch title for the Nintendo 64 ( my favourite console ever created), not even late Nintendo 64 games got close to in terms of graphics. The story is a basic Mario story princess peach gets kidnapped and you need to find her by collecting 70 out of 120 stars (shocker, I know). The game is not very difficult, either from that being that I 100%ed it twice or if it's my skill, or if it's actually easy. The music is decent, but not memorable, I would not listen to it outside of the game, but in the game it creates quite a bit of immersion. The difficulty curve is perfect, the game starts out easy but near the end, it gets difficult, but by that point you've been training, and you have many stars under your belt, so the end of the game is perfect for the part it is at. Overall it is a great game that I would recommend to anyone.

Mario 64   mike345
Super Mario 64 was one of the best games on Nintendo 64 it was also the first Mario 3D game I would also recommend this to Mario gamers.
GRAPHICS
The graphics on the game is excellent and it looks a lot like the original game on the original console also it was the first 3D Mario game so Nintendo did a very good job on crating this game.
SOUND
Although the graphics are excellent the sound can crash at times the only time the sound wouldn't normally crash is when I'm outside of princess Peach's castle.
ADDICITIVENESS
The game can be addictive at times especially when you start getting used to the game or when your right in the middle of the game.
DEPTH
The depth in the game is huge with over 10 corses to complete and 15 hidden courses and with over 100 stars to collect that makes the game huge.
DIFFICULTY
The difficulty inthis game can be quite hard at some courses but that's one of the reasons why Super Mario 64 is one of the best Nintendo 64 games ever.
OVERALL
Overall I thought the game was great and I would like Nintendo to make more of these types of Mario games.

One of the best Maro games ever.   grantjking14
Despite the time period it was released, Nintendo really reached a mile stone with Super Mario 64. With it's excellent graphics and fun, addictive game play, this game is one that should always be remembered. This is a game that has fared the test of time and now it can be played on a computer. When I had a Nintendo 64, I played this game constantly. Now thanks to Vizzed.com, I can play it whenever I want. Anyone from 6 to 60 will love this game. Great names for the levels, new and original characters make this game a classic yet a step up. This game is one of my all time favorites, and I'm sure it will be one of yours to.

Super Mario Sixty-Four   ProGamer135
Well, this is a retro game review about Super Mario Sixty-Four. This video game includes an extreme amount of content. Mario is constantly on the motion in these adventurous video games. Super Mario Sixty-Four includes a bunch of power-ups for the main character named Mario. An example would have to be the wings that are received from the red surprise box. There are a mother load of courses. Another example is an underwater course. Although, the controls for this current version are difficult to learn. I started to receive the hang of it.
I would have to say that the overall for this video game would be quite lower than I had expected. Super Mario Sixty-Four is remains awesome, though. The controls are difficult to learn on this current version, the graphics are a tad off, the background soundtracks don't grasp a catchy beat, the addictiveness is a decent amount because I've played this video game a plentiful amount of time periods, the story doesn't include much flare, Super Mario Sixty-Four does include an extensive amount of content, and the video game isn't as challenging. It is one notch above medium.
The graphics are a tad off because most of the included characters, enemies, and objects and items are too much pix-elated. There isn't much flare added to the graphics and there isn't much to include about the graphics.
The background soundtracks don't grasp a catchy tune, but they're original. Most of the soundtracks are decent, a tad amount of them are horrible, but some of the background soundtracks are amazing. There are an extensive amount of background soundtracks included in Super Mario Sixty-Four.
The addictiveness is a decent amount because I've played this video game a plentiful amount of time periods and it starts to become ancient, although, this video game is still an original video game because it includes Mario and all the other original characters, enemies, and objects and items.
There isn't much of a story because all it explains in the beginning is Peach has been captured, again by the idiotic enemy named Bowser. That's seriously all I must say about the story.
The depth is mostly high because there are many courses, background soundtracks, hidden areas, enemies, items and objects, many worlds, different motions, and more special features. The other background characters included in the courses are mostly purposed to assist you throughout Mario's adventure to free the princess from the annoying enemy named Bowser.
The difficulty is a tad higher than I had expected because the controls are irritating to learn in this version of Super Mario Sixty-Four. I usually become attacked by the giant chain-chomp in the first course/world of the video game. I try and receive the star behind the bars, but the chain-chomp irritates the hell out of me. Although, the video game isn't hard to master if you know exactly what motions to do adjacent to your previous motion. If you guys decide to give this retro video game a go, good luck and I wish you the best whist playing this video game!:D

Super Mario 64: Timeless Classic?   ChubbaAustin
Super Mario 64 has always been said to be the greatest game of all time. While I think it's a little overrated. it's still a good title. First off, the graphics. They were very good for the time, so I was nice and gave it a 9. Sound on the other hand, is amazing. All the music, it just draws you into the level, so sound gets a 10. As for addictiveness, I personally never really cared that much. I mean like, it was amazing when it came out, but back then I wasn't, well, ALIVE, so I really would only play through it one time. So addictiveness gets a 4. As for story, Princess Peach invites Mario for cake, but she gets kidnapped and- you know how it goes from there. Story just gets a 1, cause come on. It's nothing new. As for depth, it gets a hands-down 9 because the game is huge and with 120 power stars to collect, you're going to be busy for a while. As for difficulty, I gave it a 6 because, when you first start out, the controls aren't really just given to you. Also, some levels have tricky jumps that require precise timing. Overall, I think this is a good game, just that people are really licking nintendo's feet way too much. I think it's overrated, but that's just my opinion. I give this game...... a 8.5/10.

Not the best game ever, I have seen better graphics like Mario Tennis and Mario Kart. The animation is fluid and not choppy. The sound is good comparing it to Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers but Mario Tennis has much better music. The addictiveness of this game is fair for the game. This game dose have a lot of depth like to collect stars there isn't one way there are many ways to collect stars such as collecting 8 red coins, winning a race, and more. This game is very difficult. The camera isn't always behind you so it gets confusing what keys you should press.Overall this isn't the best game that I have ever played.

This is one of the best nintendo 64 games I played. The story is just like any other mario games stopping bowsers plot from kidnapping princess peach. The music is amazing compared to other nintendo 64 games. The game is not really that hard you just have to jump in a picture choose a mission then get the star by completing the mission just like super mario sunshine. This game is one of my favorites and could be your favorites also. The first level is obviously the easiest level in the game but then gets harder each level. This game is a classic I love it you will love it also.

Super Mario 64 (N64)   StuffAllstar
"Lets a go!" yells the famous Italian plumber Mario as he jumps into a painting in Princess Toadstool's Castle!
Graphics-8
For a Nintendo 64 game this game isn't bad when it comes to the graphics. If you are an HD obsession person this isn't for you especially when you can see a ton of the polygons. If you are a new gamer though the graphics are great! When playing you can see the polygons used for Mario and all the other creatures in the game such as the Bob-oms.
Sound-10
The music in every level is great especially the snow level music which sounds so calming and nice and jolly! There are some sound effects of the character (Mario) and the enemies. There is even sound effects for the screams of death and despair!
Addictiveness-9
If i were to play this game again i would play it to the end and would 100% complete it. Although there is some pain collecting 120 stars and 100 coins per world but if you are a true gamer this won't bother you. Playing makes you want to explore the hub of all the worlds the one and only Princess Toadstool's Castle (for you new gamers Peach's Castle).
Story-8
The story is like any other Mario game, to save the Princess from the evil Koopa King Bowser! Use your powerful jumps and wits to collect the stars to save Peach! Then after saving Peach get some surprises!
Depth-7
This game offers quite a bit of great game play and fun times. You can play many new worlds with some references to previous Mario games and some Easter eggs! This game has a lot of stuff to do and may take a long time to accomplish!
Difficulty-4
The difficulty is not necessarily hard but not necessarily easy either. The beginning of the game has really easy courses and progressively gets harder. The game does have bosses for you to face besides Bowser and each boss is harder than the previous one!
Overall-9.4
This is a great game and i highly recommend playing it for yourself to see what you think of it. Don't just take my word that it is a good game play it yourself and find out!

Super Mario 64   MW64
Super Mario 64, Nintendo had a great triumph. The game is the most fun, cool, and awesome game for the Nintendo 64. It is the definition of super. So Princess peach invites Mario to the castle for a cake, but a surprise awaits him. The whole game is in the castle. You must go into different paintings throughout the castle, collecting power stars to gain power from the castle. The worlds themselves are very detailed and the names of them are catchy and at some times funny. The graphics are good. Sometimes the 2d fences and stuff are outdated but that will not get in the way of game-play AT ALL. The music is so good, each world has its own theme (except for a few worlds.) The themes are so catchy and you'll end up whistling them all day. The story is good and never gets old. Don't get me started about depth. There is just so much game to go through and it will take about a week or so to even get 85 stars! Bottom line, Super Mario 64 is the best game ever made. A 10 out of 10 my words exactly!

ahh super Mario 64 one of the best n64 titles off all time with its fun courses and great colours good graphics for the time period I spent hours playing it trying to get all 120 stars never could though. Super Mario 64 pushed the n64 to it's limits with a big free roam map good story line even though they are all the same but its Mario. Mario can get away with the same story line because he's a Nintendo legend and we love him. I recommend anyone who hasn't played it PLAY IT NOW!!!!!! Buts that's only my opinion.

Awsome Game!   FFF
A very good platformer game!
As a big Mario fan I've gotta say that this is clearly the best Mario game for the Nintendo 64, and if not the best game on the whole system.
The graphics are great for their time, very great for being one of the first 3d platformers actually.
I like almost everything with this game, the controls are smooth and easy to get used to, the gameplay is fun, addictive and challenging.
Only problem I have with this game is as far I know that  the camera can be a little irratating at times but most of the time it works fine.
I recommend this game to every platformer and Mario fan out there, a fun and nostalgic experience!

Best n64 game ever.   Moverdave
OKay I want to say this a lot of times. I LOVE Super Mario 64 Its fun Its addictive And fun for the only child that has Tons of time to waste.
I would play this is if I HAD this game. (And I would play it more than the computer/Laptop) And a n64 Yes this game makes me giddy just to hear "Its-a me! Mario!". Okay. Its pretty hard to collect a star on the last level. Yet I haven't finished this game. I still have been working hard on it to get this done. But I have 23 stars. So I only have 96 stars to go. Yet It would take me months to finish this game because of my time.
I have school mostly half of the time and I'm not able to get this done. Well This is the end of my review of this game. Thank you for reading and have a good night!

It's great!   Navithehero
This game is a gem. A true gem. Being a launch title for the N64, you wouldn't expect it to be such an amazing game seeing as the software was new. It's one of the best looking N64 games and sounds pretty good too. It has a memorable soundtrack that will stick with you for a long while and has a nostalgic feel even for people who don't have any nostalgia for this game. It's pretty fun for all ages and takes a while to complete as well, making it a good time killer and just an overall nice game to finish. It's not very hard, but it makes up for it's difficulty with the amount of content in the game. Puzzles, enemies, vibrant and colorful worlds to explore. It's amazing! The story is the average "oh the princess is gone" shebang, but no one really plays Mario for the story (I hope, there's not much there, haha). I would have to give this game a close to 10 but not quite 9.8 out of 10. It would get the full on 10 if it was a bit harder and had a little more to the story like the Mario and Luigi series. But can you really expect a good story out of a 90's platformer? Eh, I guess not. Anyways, that's all for this review, see you in one of my other reviews if you happen to come across one!

One Of My All Time Favorites!   powdercoat11
This is the first game review I've ever done before so here goes.
For starters I grew up playing this game way before emulators became common place. Had the purple see through console with neon green controllers, those were the days.Enough reminiscing, let's review Mario 64!
Though this game may be old in the eyes of some, which yeah it kinda is, the graphics for the time were awesome. Maybe it was my 11yr old mind at the time but these graphics really had me in aw.You'll find that when playing the game each button push is super responsive (on console), the emulator is right on par with console minus the bandwidth interruptions every now and again.
The games sound quality is pretty astonishing. Movements sound and react like real life sounds would, such as jumping or the sound of Mario swimming through water. This isn't a game I have to find myself looking through options to mute a levels background music. If the graphics turn you away the music alone is enough to keep you playing let alone that this game is just down right addicting.
Likeliness that ill play this game again is very high. This is just like any other Mario game. You'll find yourself saying alright just one more play before bed...two hours later, ok time for bed. This game really isn't even all that hard but if you don't pay attention it can get very frustrating at times.
The story does lack in depth a bit, as this game also follows the same old Bowser battles to save the princess. My opinion is that they could have made this a lot better even with the same premise behind the story. I think a twist would have been good maybe make us think Bowser stole Peach, get to the end and find out it's nothing as expected.
As for depth this game has it! This was one of the first to offer good 3d effects in an open type environment at least in my opinion, Zelda would follow suit. You could easily find yourself playing this game for hours on end and  not even know it.
The game can be hard which is why I rated a 7. It is the type where you can find yourself in the same position for awhile if you don't observe closey. If you take your time and don't rush it's pretty sooth sailing. If you rush, your more likely to make mistakes become frustrated and make the game harder on yourself.

Super Mario 64 Review   Lexatom
I love Super Mario 64.  Its a great addition to the Mario series.  Without this game, I wouldn't have started to like Mario.  So, here is my review of the game.
Graphics: 7
Compared to other N64 games, the game's graphics are pretty much the same.  And there's just a bit of the graphics that bothers me.  Maybe its just me though.
Sound: 9 The game's music is awesome.  Bob-omb Battlefield tune is famous to many gamers.  And the final boss theme, is just magnificent.
Addictiveness: 10 I love finding all the secrets and glitches in this game, and love playing this game over and over again.  It's a classic almost everybody loves.
Story: 6 The game dosen't really have much of a story to it, but it has a bit.  Peach baked a cake for Mario, so Mario goes to the castle and  sees that Bowser took the Power Stars, so he goes to get them and save Peach.  The story is only slightly bad.
Depth: 9 Once you beat the game, if you have less than 120 Power Stars, than there are still more to go.  It takes a while to get all of them.
Difficulty: 9 This game can be very hard a lot of times.  But other times, it can be a breeze.  The controls sometimes annoy me though.
Overall Rating: 9.5  Thus ending my review.  (This is my first review on a game btw.)

mario in 3d? only a matter of time   bsnowotter
Let's get it out of the way in paragraph number one:  Bringing mario into 3d was gutsy move at the time nintendo did it.
Of course, nowadays leaving him in 2d feels equally gutsy, but the current comfort of gaming in 3d can be traced in large part to mario 64.  There may have been several 3d games back then but none carries on to this day with the confidence and pizaz of Mario (see Super Mario Galaxy 2 and its 40 dollar price to get it used at gamestop).
Sound gets high marks not just because of Nintendo's trademark attention to detail with the sound effects, but the musical tracks for each level is pretty cool.  If you don't believe me keep playing till you get to the first swimming level.  Once you are impressed by the music, try to find the remixes of it at OCRemix.  Good times.
Mario 64 is a game that is not afraid to put an epic amount of crud before the gamer, because it knows that so much polish and shine was put into the fundamental game mechanics and play control that it would be a joy for gamers to tackle every single challenge the developers put before the intrepid plumber.  My one beef is that Mario's origin has been swept under the carpet.  Does he never get homesick for Brooklyn.
I strongly recommend Mario 64, its spot on vizzed.com's front page of games is well-deserved.  It is truly a strong reason why the human race should endure, if only for more generations to get a chance to experience such a gem.

Super Mario 64   ross4587
This game provides the opportunity to play as Mario in 3D. Other successful games like Super Mario World and Super Mario Brothers 3 were just as big a success, but this game is eye catching due to the fact the character can now move more freely than before, instead of left to right. Another thing that is instantly different is that Mario can speak, yes. He gives us all a flavour of Italy with his accent, something never seen before on a Mario game at the time of the games release. Now onto the game, and all fans will know the script inside-out. Bowser seems to know how to kidnap Princess Peach without being caught by the Mushroom Kingdom, and he is at it again here too. Mario must travel through different areas of the Princess's Castle to access levels, collecting Golden stars unlockable by satisfying certain level objectives, such as collecting 100 coins or collecting all red coins. A number of stars will be required in order to do battle with Bowser in several parts, which Mario will have to win in order to retain hope of saving the princess. Several switches can be found giving Mario different temporary power-ups, such as being able to fly or being able to appear as metal. These are seen as vitally important if Mario is to complete his quest. Each power-up will give Mario additional strengths and will give him a greater chance of catching golden stars seemingly in impossible-to-reach places. A total of 120 golden stars are available, and must be collected for 100 percent game completion. This game is very long, and will take a few days to complete in full, but the save option appears after level completion, so starting all over is not necessary. Overall, this game is a significant upgrade in terms of features, depth and storyline, in comparison with the two major 2D games mentioned earlier. Certainly worth being played multiple times to complete other aspects of levels not yet challenged.

My review of SM64   PioPark1
Super Mario 64 is a very popular game that is enjoyed even now. I have played the sequel for the DS and I'll admit the DS version was better with more stars and bigger challenges and more characters to play with while the original had only Mario. This game is not very hard once you get used to the controls, know the story, know what to do to get a star, or you are familiar with it's 3D graphics (playing the sequel, playing other games like Super Mario RPG). This game is long with over 100 stars but the story is the same as always: Peach sends a note to Mario saying to come to the castle for cake, Bowser kidnaps her, and Mario rescues her only this time you must fight him multiple times to progress. All-in-all, I think this is a great game and recommend it to my friends.

Super Mario 64 on N64 Get N or Get Out!
Again! It's Hydra HuntersLOL again with another review, so I'm thinking of doing a review at least once a week. But anyways, on with this
Graphics: 7
Back then (12 years old, so I wouldn't know this) people (including you , James) were like OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!! Over and over when they got an N64 but I think that Super Mario 64 is the best N64 game (hard choice between this and OoT) and when people saw these graphics and they would've been HOLY NOTCH! 3D!! This is awesome! And it was like a law back then (even to Street Fighter).
The graphics on sm64 were pretty good. Mario looks like Mario, trees aren't 3D for some reason, the paintings on the castle look great but only one downfall....Bowser doesn't really look like Bowser.
Sound: 9
The music s very catchy, the sound effects are good and I like listening to Bowser's laugh and Mario voice.
Oh and id you realize that boo's laugh is actually Bowser's laugh sped up four times.
Addictiveness: 10
TEN!!! It's so addictive, I tried dedicating my life to it, it's just amazing what Nintendo can do to make games addictive!
I could play 24/7 if I wanted to!
Story: 2
Just the same thing, save the princess from Bowser! .....how about do something like save Yoshi from R.O.B
Why can't Peach save herself
Depth:10
120 stars, 15 courses +secret courses, 9 boss battles. nuff said
difficulty:4
If you can play it like a boss and know what you're doing, it's not that hard but what's really hard is throwing Bowser to the orbs because you're accuracy isn't as good as in the DS remake (Super Mario 64 DS).
glitches: 10
Yahoo! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAHOO!! Backwards long jumping through the endless staircase, the rabbit glitch, the black room of death, that bob-omb glitch where you throw him, pick him back up before it lands and it'll be bigger, the glitch you can do after that, the cartridge tilting glitch and .........(mind gets blown up)
controls: 10
The controls are tight, fluent and most of all, not stiff. You can do different types of jumps and well..that's enough said
Overall:10: This is THE BEST game on N64, a huge rumour from the L is Real 2401 (The playing as Luigi rumour started as an ECM joke [they're always doing tricks on you]) and that's it.
NEXT TIME, I REVIEW CONKER'S BAD FUR DAY.

Mario in full 3D!   daman269
Join Mario on his first fully 64-bit adventure.
Graphics: 9
It was the very first game on the Nintendo 64. It had good graphics compared to a lot of games.
Sound: 7
I think it had nice music however it didn't live up to the 2D Mario games. Still it had its amazing moments.
Addictiveness: 9
This, like all other good Mario titles, is very addicting, but something sets it apart from the everything else. Not the saves, the 3D aspects. The only thing stopping it from 10 is the camera angles.
Story: 2
It's getting real repetitive, Nintendo. Mario the plumber save Princess Peach from the clutches of the Koopa king, Bowser.
Depth: 9
This game has a lot to offer. 120 stars including secret ones, 3 main bosses, mini bosses, good replay value, some good caps and Yoshi on top of the castle.
Difficulty: 6
It has its hard parts but mostly easy and you can save.
So there you go, my opinion on Super Mario 64, I give it a 9.4/10.

Super Mario 64   Nintentoad64
Super Mario 64 is probably my favorite video game. The fact that you can get stars in any order I like. It also has awesome music. This game takes a while to get EVERY single star. And once I did, I felt good. The game isn't too hard although some stars are tough, long, annoying, or all three. The game is still fun to play even after I beat it. It has 15 worlds, 120 stars and 3 different caps. My favorite part is the caps. It's different than any other Mario game. It is also the first 3D other than 2D.
This is a fantastic game if you like exploration. Easy to play, and fun to play! Super Mario 64 is my favorite Mario game so far. I recommend this game to players who like exploration and adventure.

Super Mario 64: Review my Stars!   Fireproof
Back in the age of the Nintendo 64, Super Mario of the 64 brought out a fun new 3-D style gaming platform where you collect the power of the stars to save Princess Peach. In this version of Mario's epic tale you will adventure to whole new worlds, collect stars and battle bosses. Mario is alone this time but with your skills and his jumping specialty you'll defeat Bowser and save the day!
The Story
Dear Mario... the first of the last words written by Princess Peach in an invitation for Mario to visit the castle and this time it's not for the broken plumbing. You adventure into Princess Peach's Castle and learn that Bowser is waiting at the top of the Castle. Your epic journey begins when you step into the magical paintings in each of the different rooms as you progress your way to Bowser.
+2.5 - I really liked that this adventure was inside Princess Peach's Castle. I thought that this made it unique compared to the past Mario games where all you did was travel the land to search for Bowser's Castle. Too many Mario games do that and it's no longer unique.
+2 - Any adventure with Bowser at the end of the game has to be a great game.
+2 - I liked how you could speak with each of the Toads which added to the story a bit. At the beginning you also had Lakitu and Peach's letter so it was pretty cool.
+1.5 - I liked how the game started you out with Peach's letter. It really pulled you into the game and you immediately became interested.
+1 - I even enjoyed the credits and there was an ending after you defeat Bowser. This is something that I'll always like.
+1 - I liked that the story involved the use of paintings because it was unique and out of the ordinary but I wasn't necessarily thrilled about it either.
-------------------------
10
Graphics
This time around the graphics have taken a step up from the Super Nintendo and I'll be grading these graphics compared to Nintendo 64 games. What I liked about these graphics is that it was a strong push for the Nintendo 64 and helped get people into the console. Strong graphics with great colors.
+2.5 - The design of the levels was absolutely amazing. Each level was very detailed and looked really eye popping. It grabs your attention and keeps a hold of it.
+2.5 - I really enjoyed the different abilities Mario has at his disposal when you progressed later into the game. Some of these were absolutely cool and I could get enough of it.
+2 - At the time I really liked the look of Bowser when you fought him. I really thought he looked somewhat evil and it was cool to see a 3-D version of Bowser (Not including the 3-D model of Super Mario RPG).
+2 - The graphics made for some interesting game play. I was never used to wall jumping or even fighting as Mario. I liked that it seemed realistic or tried to without going overboard on it.
----------------------
9
The Sound
I really enjoyed some of the music of this game. It really felt like it was cutting edge when my ears first heard some of the songs and effects that went into this game. This really helped making my experience playing the Nintendo 64. I was really happy.
+2.5 - I loved the music that was played for the different caps found throughout the game. It was energetic and exciting.
+2 - I really liked playing through the different levels. Most worlds had different songs and helped make each world stand out.
+2 - My favorite song in the game had to do with Metal Cap. This was fun and I thought it was one of the greater songs in the game.
+.5 - I never really cared for some of the sound effects. Nothing really stood out in my mind and I thought that this was pretty weak and could have used some work.
--------------------
7
The Depth
My favorite part of any game review. What I liked about this game the most was just how vast the levels were. Levels seemed to be more complex and open to a larger world than another Mario game I can think of. I liked how levels were built and how you needed to play them. This really stands out from older games and sets the path for future games.
+2.5 - There was a wide variety of worlds with different elements that effected the overall play style of the level.
+1.5 - I really liked the use of the different caps. Each cap had a special ability that made these parts of the game stand out but I was disappointed that these weren't used all that much and more could have been done.
+1.5 - I liked that the game had you collect 120 stars that took awhile to find but I never really cared for finding the 100 coins to earn a star. I disliked that and it really seemed like a waste of time.
+1.5 - I liked that you didn't find each star the same way as the others. There are several stars that are pretty unique and even some are harder to obtain than others. I usually found myself finding stars out of order which I think helped complete the game.
+1 - I liked the concept with the cannon blasting you off to other areas of the world that might not normally be reachable.
+1 - I liked that after you completed a certain star in some of the worlds, the world would change slightly and offer other places to reach or explore.
-1 - The game was lacking in enemies and number of enemies. I would have liked to see more of the normal Mario feel in the game and with what they did with the enemies was disappointing.
-----------------------
8
The Difficulty
The game is both kind of hard and kind of easy. I don't know how I would describe this because it isn't really about the difficulty of playing the game, it's more based on puzzle solving and getting used to the controls which would act up at times. There really isn't anything that would stand out that I liked about the difficulty of the game except for the final boss, however, it wasn't even that difficult. This is something that I may put more thought into and come back later. The most difficult part of the game might have been collecting the 100 coins in each world but even that wasn't technically difficult. This is an odd one to describe my thoughts on. I'm too inbetween to decide.
The Addictiveness
Unfortunately I can't say that the game was very addictive to me. I found it interesting and liked several aspects of the game but it didn't appeal to me in an addicting way. I found myself playing other games once I beat it. I was never really into going back through to do the same things over. I was more into the strategy style games because they felt like you could play different games.
+2 - I liked certain levels more than the others but I was also very annoyed as well with some levels and it was very disappointing at times.
+2 - I liked that the game had a lot to offer at first but I realized other games I had around the house offered more and eventually I quit playing the game altogether. There's not much fun in collecting 120 stars over and over again if nothing changes.
+1.5 - Graphics and Sound is pretty good in the game but it wasn't anything too memorable.
0 - You didn't really earn anything special once you completed the game fully. This is actually disappointing because usually the ending should be the best part.
-.5 - Overall disappointed that I could see there was plenty more potential to this game. I enjoyed it but at some point it just faded away unlike other games.

Overall
I enjoyed playing the game and fully completing it but there were several things that I didn't really care for in this game. I didn't really care for the enemies because there were too few to count but there were more obstacles than anything else. Mario normally has a ton of enemies that you stomp your way through the level and to the end. I did like the music and graphics but I thought that the game was lacking something to maintain my interest for longer. This was my first Nintendo 64 game and at the time I loved it but after I had games like Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, Command and Conquer 64 or Diddy Kong Racing I was stuck playing those games a lot more. Even the difficulty of some of these games had more challenging aspects which appeals to me but Mario 64 didn't have the challenge appeal. In the end I give this game an 8.3.

I wove dis game!!!   Dr_fronkensteen
Ok guys I cant complain, THIS GAME IS BOSS!!! This really reminds me of when I was 6. I just could play it all day on the N64 if I still had it. And the amount this game has to offer, WEEEWWWW!!! It's the 1st Mario game that let's u do what ever. If u haven't heard of this game, where have u been living. And if dis is the 1st Mario game you've ever played good 4 u  cause this game teaches u a lot about the Mario story line. I mean just look @ it. LOOK @ THE MAJESTIC BUTTER!!! Now here's a good Mario game. And if u played this along time ago here's something u might remember. The Hacks. There's so many! If u haven't played any Mario 64 hacks. Here's a good tip: start with Super Mario 64-Mario's Dream this game is on vizzed type it in the search box. Its a good hack. The only thing I half to complain about is not the game its my computer. It just places every thing around like when your in the castle it look like there's a door on your head. If I'm able to ill try and make a hack. Guys I'm trying to earn viz so my thing might be all over the place. Sorry. Ok now were @ 228 words. Yea so if u don't like this game how....HOW DO U NOT LIKE THIS GAME ITS SO AWESOME!!! Well I can't think of anything more to say so this is the end of my review  for Super Mario 64 see yea.

Super mario 64!   john3115
Super Mario 64 is and always will be one of my all time favorites for the 64 with its unique game play and smooth controls I would rate this game 100/10 if it were possible. I have been playing super Mario 64 for many years and it never gets old. The difficulty in some areas can get you stuck for quite some time, but that is part of what keeps you addicted. I would also recommend playing this with a controller and not a keyboard because of how much harder it makes the game. All I can say now is its an amazing game and it would definitely be worth your time to play.

Super Mario 64 Cheat Codes

A Bob-omb Magic Trick:
Go to Shifting Land Land and do the "Another place for a second hat" trick. Now go back to the start and pick up a Bob-omb. He'll magically disappear, and you are holding your hat! The smoke sounds wil still be there, but Mario will be holding his red cap like a Bob-omb. Don't press B and wait. Woah! The ticking sound stopped, and no explosion happened. Where did the bomb go? Now, go to one of those tornados in the quick sand and keep on going into it until---the Bob-omb comes out of you and explodes! Cogratulations! Mario has done his first magic trick!

Another place for a second hat:
In the sandy world go to any star past number 1 and get your hat stolen by the big bird that was carring the star (you can usualy find him near the pink bomb-bomb's pillar) then go punch or kick or just jump on the bird WITHOUT getting the hat next go to the palm tree near the pink bomb-bomb and warp the more times you warp the more hats there are. eventualy after about 50 hats are on the screen the game will freeze. if you grab your hat when there are 2 or three there you get to wield your hat as a weapon. I think its kinda funny beating up those two hands with your cap he he.

How to get a second hat for Mario:
Go to snowman's land, the one with the big snowman. Climb up the moutain and let the snowman blow your hat off. Then go to the two warping trees next to the frozen pond. Go through them and the cap will have another hat on top of it. Once you get your hat, there will be another one on the ground. Go get that one and Mario will have it the rest of the level or untill you exit the game. Mario can use his hat as a weapon, it does double damage to enemies.

Unlockables:
- Special Triple Jump
How to Unlock Special Triple Jump Get 120 stars and the lives from Yoshi on the roof of the castle.

Secrets:
- Bob-omb Battlefield Warp 1
There is a warp in Bob-omb Battlefield that lets you get from one side of the level to another quickly. After going up the first slanted bridge, go right and stand in the flower bed. The game will warp you to another flower bed, near the mountain. You can also warp from the flower bed next to the mountain to the flower bed next to the slanted bridge.

- Bob-omb Battlefield Warp 2
There is a warp in Bob-omb Battlefield that allows you to go up the mountain quickly. Begin by heading up the mountain until you come to the first indentation in the mountain that metal balls come out of. Go into the indentation, and stand there. The game will warp you to another indentation higher up in the mountain.

Bonus Final Message:
Gain all 120 stars, then go back and face Bowser. You'll see a new message.

Control camera during credits:
To control the camera during the end credits, simply beat the last Bowser with a controller pugged into port #2. During the credits use the controller in port #2 to control the camera.

Control the speeds in the Tick Tock Clock:
In order to control the speeds in the Tick Tock Clock, you will need to play close attention to the minute hand. When the hand is on the 3, the platforms in the clock will be slow. Like wise 6 will be medium speed and 9 will be fast.

Cool, Cool Mountain Warp:
At the beginning of the level, turn around, and you should see a broken bridge. Walk to the very end of it, and you will transport to the bottom of the level, near the big penguin. Stand at the end of the broken bridge you end up at, and you will warp back to the top. You can use this warp to get between the top and bottom of the mountain easily.

Easy 1up Mushroom/ Infinite 1up Mushroom:
In the level "Vanish Cap Under The Moat" you can gain 3x 1up mushrooms on the first hill. Then you can jump off the edge of the level and not loss a life. This gives you three lives in a matter of seconds.

Easy Healing:
If you have taken damage just jump in some water that you can be submerged in and rise to the surface then you will have your enegy filled up.

Extra Coins:
Whenever there is a post in a level, if you run around it 5 times and some coins will pop out. These are good if you need more health or need to collect 100 coins.

Fat penguin race:
After getting 120 stars, go to race the pengiun in the 3rd world (The snow one) and he'll be fat, harder to beat, and have a new message for you.

Infinite 1-up mushrooms in 6th level:
While in the Hazy Maze Cave, get into the Hazy Maze itself. Kill eight of the moles in a row, you will get a 1-up. Make your way to the lone mole on the other side of the maze, kill him eight times, get a 1-up. Now go back to the first pair of moles, kill eight in a row and a THIRD 1-up mushroom will appear! Continue going between the moles for the desired amount of lives.

Lethal Lava Land Warp:
At the beginning of the level, turn left and jump to the island with the Wing Cap block on it. Stand in the center of the island, and you will warp to a hole in a metal wire platform, right under an eyeball enemy. You can warp back and forth between the hole and the island.

Shifting Sand Land Warp:
In Shifting Sand Land, head over to the tree that is next to the oasis. Stand under the tree, and the game will warp you to a metal platform in the quicksand area. The cannon is there, as well as a black brick block. You can also warp from the metal platform to the tree.

Stop the Tick Tock Clock:
In order to stop the gears and platforms in the Tick Tock Clock, simply jump into the clock when the minute hand is on the 12.

Tall, Tall Mountain Warp:
In Tall, Tall, Mountain, there is a warp that makes it easy to get to the cannon. In the area with all of the mushrooms, you will see two tiny mushrooms that are next to each other. Jump to the second tiny mushroom, and you will warp to a hidden area below the mountain. From there you can head to the cannon. You can also warp from the hidden area to the mushroom if you decide not to use the cannon.

Water Rise in Wet Dry World:
There is a way to control how high the water level is in Wet Dry World when you enter it. If you jump high into the painting, the water level will start off high. If you jump low into the painting, the water level will start off low. There are several differents water levels that it can start as, and these are determined by how high you jump into the painting.

Whomp's Fortress Warp:
There is a warp in Whomp's Fortress that makes going up the fortress a lot easier. Go until you reach the area where a Thwomp is pounding the ground. There are several regular boxes and a red ! box there as well. Stand in the corner between the wire wall and the fortress wall. The game will warp you to a ledge coming out of the fortress, next to a large pole. You can also warp from the ledge to the area where the Thwomp is.

Yoshi:
Once you have gathered 120 stars, jump into the now open cannon outside the castle. Shoot onto the roof and talk to Yoshi. He will give you 100 lives and an improved triple jump.

Mario 64 brings up memories from when I was a kid I would spend hours on in trying to prefect the 120 Stars. My favorite level has to be the lava one in the basement or the little big world.

This game is pretty good. No wonder everyone liked this game, it's from the N64, has great graphics, and gets more easier or harder as you get used to the game.

How do you make is stick when you grab Mario's face? Mine just goes back to normal once you let go, but I've seen people make it stick and mutilate Mario's face. How do I do that? Answer please.
