Street Fighter EX 2 Plus (USA 990611) Review by: SuperCrash64 - 8.5/10

Extremeing the Style of Street fighter
Time to review another game. This 1 is street fighter Ex plus 2. A follow up to the original Street fighter ex plus.yes there was original ex games, but Like capcoms original street fighter 2 They would make small or big tweaks to make the game better. The plus part to the original street fighter ex 1 and 2. Made it add more characters and stages for it. So that's mainly what the plus part does to the original games.it adds more features, characters and other stuff etc .

game background/history The good old street fighter 2. A classic in 2d that would revolutionise all the other fighting games out their. Capcom saw the success of the game blast off and to keep it fresh.Capcom always made it like more speedy (Super Street fighter 2 turbo would be the main example I'm saying). They also added more and more stuff. Then it continued. capcom really needed to step up their game this time. As the street fighter gang went to 3d polygons. The reason for this is basically namco and their tekken franchise,As being 1 of the first 3d fighting games at the time like virtual fighter, and even Midways mortal combat franchise would eventually go to 3d.

Graphics:
Pretty good here. Sprites. As I've mentioned before the

Street fighter sprites went into 3d.,and I'll admit they look great here

although they have gone into a 3d polygon statement. They still have

great details. during  each of the matches the characters start doing their starting pose such,as ryu setting up his headband. the

counterparts characters look and move just like their original 2d . So

that part made me really get used to the feel of the game,as I've played

detailed home ports and the arcade version of the original street fighter 2 here

on vizzed
.their classic cartoonist feel to them They are again greatly

detailed Animation: Most of the street fighter characters have their

classic stances. however they don't feel quite juggling as the old

street fighter 2 made it feel to me. each characters
animation is quite

smooth accurate. and very true to the original street fighter 2.
They

rather have a more stable feel to the animations.
Stages and extra

stuff: the stages are pretty much okay in my opinion. there are quite a

lot of stages and each 1 of them
Have a great amount of detail.

however the look and feel of them. some of the stages look pretty bland.

as some

look like factories beaches and other types. They still look great

though considering this was another 1st 3d game at the time. one thing I

always found awesome Is when you pull off like a special attack. or use

a custom combo attack.if that attack hits your opponent where he/she

has zero health. A bunch of boulders suddenly come out of the sky, and

go landing on the ground causing a big burst. That always made me feel

pumped. It's red if you use a special attack.
it's blue when you use a

custom combo.  Graphics rating 9

Sound :
usual street fighter variety.  have your usual crazy sound

effects.such as your shroyuken hadoken hurricane kick. along with your

crunching smacking hit and kick sound effects. however the actors or

people doing the speech samples are not quite the same. as the standard

actors even got more of a Japanese feel to the samples. Sagat for

example as where he had like a angry fierce sample in the classic street

fighter 2 games. now it feels he went all pitched up and the way his

samples feel when he does tiger uppercut or tiger projectile etc.

doesn't have the same feel.
Soundtrack. pretty much just loses feel and

doesn't sound great.
In other games like street fighter 2 and even the

Alpha series had a great composed soundtrack.
The alpha series went to

be a rather arranged version of the street fighter 2 soundtrack.
The

street fighter 2 tracks was smooth nicely composed and just all around

pumped. in this game however. The soundtracks in here is just rather

best be forgotten.
because really I just find it a bad theme and it

feels really repeatively looped .
it doesn't gets me pumped excited or prepared for

the fight. Sound rating 8

Addictiveness/gameplay. The entire

street fighter franchise was mainly fun for juggling around with the d

pad or joystick
. figuring out special moves. And using them to kick

butt.
In other words make some neatly combos that makes foes take up a

lot of damage. Their was also counters and other strategies that made

the games fun.
that's how the games work and how it was fun. As for

street fighter ex plus 2 it pretty much feels the same way.

Addictiveness rating 9.

story: no endings or anything in here.

which is a real shame
because even the arcade versions of street fighter

2 had some endings for your hard work.
as in this it just has a plain

thank you for playing screen:P. no real storyline in this game

Depth.

As usual all other fighting games don't have a lot of depth. least the arcade versions of depth to it. well

. basically in street fighter games. you go

through about 8 or 10 fights in a 1 on 1 style. along with  bonus

stages during that time.
Depth rating 6 my usual rating for the standard

fighting game depth.

Difficulty: Not really all that hard. I've

played alot of street fighter games. So it's not really hard to pull

off all those special moves and figure them out with combos. as this

game has a similar engine to street fighter 2 so its still pretty easy

to knock out foes. controls work fine good and responive and do their

job as commanded. Difficulty rating 5 usual rating for fighting game

difficulty.

Overall Street fighter ex 2 is okay and a good game. rating 8.5
