Spider-Man 2 - The Sinister Six Review by: noj94 - 6.4/10

noj94's Review
I've chosen to review this game because It was a favorite game while I was young. I was about seven when I was given my Game-boy Color and with that I had four game I owned, this being one of them I've decided that I would rate a lesser known game and explain why I gave it the rating I did.

Story: This game was a sequel to another Game-boy Color game but it doesn't have a lot, if anything at all, with the original game. If it weren't for the mere fact that it had a big fat 2 on the game's title I would have never known. There's no need to worry about playing the original to understand this game. The story starts off with Doctor Octopus talking to Spider-mans' most dangerous foes, who, obviously, want revenge against the red and blue hero. Once the game begins you find Peter Parker's aunt sitting in front of the fireplace enjoying the warmth when Sandman breaks through her front door looking for Peter Parker (they don't know Peter Parker is Spider-Man they just know he takes his pictures) when they can't find the boy they settle for the frightened old lady and kidnap her leaving a note for Peter to send Spider-Man to take on the Sinister Six. Throughout the game you take on one of the Sinister Six as bosses until you find Doc Ock with a firm metallic grasp on Aunt May. The story is a rather simple story of a young hero who has personal life invaded by his responsibilities, if you don't like this because it fairly predictable then that's your problem.

Game-play: I've played the original Spider-Man game and though I've concluded that this game is significantly easier to beat. Your A button is your jump button which you can be directed a certain direction with the D-pad, B button is your fight/action button in which you can lay a few punches or kicks depending on how you are moving or what your position is. In the game there were a few features I liked one you could use a web ball and temporarily trap your enemies in a web by pressing the would-be A and B buttons at the same time, however, this is significantly harder using the keyboard making the feature next to useless. Second, though most gamers may never need to use it they have "Spider-sense", if you wait a second or two you get an arrow of your next destination is. You also can stick to almost anything with a flat surface which can actually be annoying sometimes when you are indoors ,jumping, but not intending to stick to the ceiling. The game has three choices of difficulty, which just about any gamer can figure out, easy, medium, or hard, the harder the rating the harder it is to kill people including bosses. Bosses are a tad to easy to fight for my taste; once you figure out how to fight them it's just a matter of time and effort. hey have a feature for continuing a level where you are given a code before each level (bosses excluded) that you can later use. I don't like what they did for the codes though. Frequently it has pictures rather than letters for codes making it a tad longer than I would like, though I do appreciate their attempt to change things up.

Graphics: Good for a Game-boy Color. It's not flawless but it is prettier than a lot of other games. They tried to give it a comic book feel which is fine by me... except when you hit someone they have onomatopoeia written in explosive bubbles... the art done for the story does in deed feel help me feel like I'm in a comic book which many may feel a pleasurable way to play a super-hero game. The only real attempt to depict that during game-play is when you knock out your foes which I think destroys the feel.

Sound: The music's catchy but is repetitive.

Overall: It's a fun game that some may find worth getting in Vizzed (seeing as you don't have to buy). There isn't a lot to do with it once you finish the game except play with a higher difficulty setting but other than that there isn't a lot of replay value.
