Project Shadow mike345
The game Project Shadow is basically a hack of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and can be enjoyed by players that like hacked games.
GRAPHICS
The games graphics are ok like in the original non-hacked one but there are a few glitches that don't really bother me.
SOUND
The Sound on this game is great although I forgot the theme song that the first level one was but it was still great.
ADDICTIVENESS
The game isn't really addictive in my opinion because I don't really enjoy Sonic Hacks I enjoy the original versions of the games.
DIFFICULTY
The difficulty in this game isn't too hard and it isn't too easy the reason why I didn't complete the game was because I got bored of it.
OVERALL
Overall I thought the game was ok, but I do feel like the hacker can do better than that, so I gave the game a 7.3 out of 10.

Sonic 2: Project Shadow review Reventador427
Sonic hacks can be classified in many ways, but this one is considered as a graphic hack, in which the hacker changes the original level graphics to make a brand-new level. Using the Debug Mode of the original Sonic The Hedgehog 2 game allows a hacker to plan a graphic hacked level. But now, let's move to the aspects:
Graphics - 7
Graphically, this hack offers, as I have told, new organization of sprites to create brand-new and a bit challenging levels. The night level is one of the hot spots of the hack. I have also to mention that the Selbi's "trial and error" technique has been applied in that same level. By letting the pillars (in Ivy Lakes Act 2 boss fight) close, the creator of this hack added some sort of challenge in this boss fight, not letting people go over the pillars (otherwise they will get crushed). The HUD is simply awesome, it really is à-la-Shadow. Speaking of it, the Shadow sprites are good, but when he's waiting, it is just a black Sonic sprite. There's lack of sprites for Chao's (Shadow's sidekick) spin dash move. But there's a huge problem: playing this hack in "Vizzed Score Attack" bugs the entire HUD, disappears the ring and monitor sprites; and all badniks become "GIJI". This should be fixed. I wished Maria Robotnik The Hedgehog should be Shadow's sidekick...
Sound - 7
Honestly, the sound is a bit quite good. The Midnight Hill Zone's music is a bit catchy and the Hidden Base Zone's music is very good. But the Ivy Lake Zone's music is very boring! Action sounds (attack, spin dash, jump, etc.) keep the same as in the original Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
Addictiveness - 6
This is a suitable hack for regular Sonic The Hedgehog game players. A spice of challenge let the game become a bit addictive. But the fact that the hack is too short (only has 3 zones) penalizes the addictiveness factor.
Depth - 4
The game is quite small, it needs to have even more levels.
Difficulty - 7
Sprite reorganizing adds spices of challenge in this game.
Overall - 6.2
Notes for the hack creator: change the music in Ivy Lakes Zone and
replace Chao with Maria Robotnik The Hedgehog.
Notes for RGR staff: please correct the graphical issues when playing this hack in "Vizzed Score Attack".
My overall opinion: this is a quite good hack, it has challenging levels and everything a basic, but good Sonic The Hedgehog 2 hack. Graphical issues must be fixed, while one music must be
replaced.

A dated relic of Sonic hacking's early days. Popful
This is a good example of what early Sonic 2 hacks were like, so while it's nothing amazing now, it's still pretty neat for its time.
Graphics: Most of the graphics are palette swaps of the original game, the exceptions being Shadow, the Chao, the HUD, and the first zone's background. The colors chosen are pretty decent, and the moon on the water in the first zone is rather well-animated. Shadow and the Chao look the way you'd expect, and fit right in with the other graphics.
Sound: The sound was taken from the 2-player mode of the original, so it's definitely great, and it fits the new levels well enough.
Addictiveness: Unfortunately, the levels don't have much to explore, there's no proper "ending", and no Chaos Emeralds, meaning that there's no reason whatsoever to replay this.
Depth: In addition to what's mentioned above, the game only has four stages, so it won't last you long. The level design is pretty good, albeit linear and occasionally cheap.
Difficulty: Apart from a few cheap deaths, the difficulty's about the same as the original, which wasn't very hard to begin with.
Overall, take a look only if you want a perspective on how far hacking has come since this.

Sonic 2 Project Shadow review G@mehe@d
Sonic 2 Project Shadow is an interesting hack that will interest shadow fans. The game has some unique looks to the levels, but the level design is terrible. GRAPHICS: The levels are unique, but the level design is terrible and confusing. There are to many of those drops that you have to go through and in the water areas there's only one bubble spot. The graphics however are smooth and colorful.SOUND: The sound is okay. Just like the classic Sonic games. There are some classic tunes from Sonic 2, which are played pretty well. The sound effects are just like the classic Sonic games as well.ADDICTIVENESS: The game is pretty boring at first but I managed to stay on the game until the end. It has no replay value because the game is super limited. There are no special stages which destroys the purpose of playing again. DEPTH: This game only has 5 short levels or 2 1/2 zones. That's right 2 1/2 zones, midnight hill zone, ivy lake zone, and a zone based on metropolis zone which only has 1 short level and no ending. There is however 2 player which has 4 different levels to compete on. 3 levels, and 1 special stage which should have been on the 1 player mode.DIFFICULTY: This game is somewhat easy. However there is some blind jumps that make it hard to tell if there's death waiting or a platform.OVERALL RATING: 7
