Sonic Megamix (v3.0) review
I remember when I first found this game. I was browsing on the sonic retro forums when I found Sonic Megamix. It was really fun. So I was extremely glad when I found Sonic Megamix on the Retro Game Room! But enough with that, let's start the review!
Graphics: 7
Sadly, not a lot of the graphics changed from Sonic 1. But that's not really a bad thing! I always liked the style of the sonic games. The new graphics retain the style from Sonic 1. The bright style always manages to cheer me up.
Sound:9
Most of the sound is the same as Sonic 1. But I think there are some new music pieces in There! I always loved the sonic music and it's cherry style! Although, I will admit that I think that they could have added some more music.
Addictiveness:10
I feel as if I could play this game for days and not get tired. It seems like I get sucked into the game and play it for hours. Sonic Megamix is one of the most addicting games I have ever played and I think you will think the same if you give this game a try! In fact, you should stop reading this review and should start playing right now!
Story:7
The story is the same original story. Doctor Eggman takes a bunch if animals and uses them to fuel his robots and take the Chaos Emeralds! Now sonic must save them and get the chaos emeralds before Eggman! It's pretty much the same story except Shadow and Mighty somehow got mixed into it.
Depth:10
There is a TON of depth in this Game. Not only can you play as 3 different characters!(Sonic, Shadow, and Mighty) All of the levels have been changed into different levels! Some of them are really long and take skill to beat the level. Or if you don't want to play on the new levels, you can play on the original levels from Sonic 1 too! Also, all of the characters have their own super form that can be unlocked when you collect all the chaos emeralds. There are a bunch of things from Sonic 1 too like sound test and debug mode!
Difficulty:8
Let me tell you this, this game is a lot harder then Sonic 1. Like I said before many of the levels are long and take skill to beat. But don't let that discourage you! The game is still beatable. But, it will take more skill to beat these levels then the Sonic 1 levels. If you are having difficulty beating the new levels you can play on the old levels which retain their difficulty!
Overall:9.8
This game is pure awesome!! It has a lot of depth and is a lot of fun! All of the characters are balanced and fun to play as. The difficulty is hard but still beatable! I only wish that the would have added more graphics and sounds!

Sonic 1 Megamix (v3.0) Description: This is a work-in-progress multiperson disassembly modification of the original Sonic the Hedgehog videogame for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, headed up by Team Megamix and more recently moved to the Sega Mega CD. The game features the ability to play as one of five different characters: Sonic the Hedgehog, Mighty the Armadillo, Shadow the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, and Knuckles the Echidna. It is an extensive reworking of the original game, featuring new art, music, abilities, layouts, and other things.

Options are right under the "Start Game" and "Continue" part of the menu. Just scroll down and you'll find them. However, I only see Sonic, Mighty, and Shadow as playable, not Knuckles or Tails.
