Please, just please.... No   Mohammedroxx3
So, I kind of noticed that a few users seem to like it when I make pirated game reviews and homebrews reviews and various Sonic hack reviews for the sega genesis too. So, I thought, why not make both reviews everyday? So, I'm basically gonna (try to) keep doing this everyday until the end of this month, then, if/when I get the staff role, I'll start on non-sonic reviews. Anyways, let's dive in to this pirated review!
Intro: *tries not to throw up* *fails*
Well, so, there was once some random and unofficial pirated games being made. Some Sonic games for nintendo systems and even mario games for sega genesis system. And thus later on... Comes Somari. A Sonic game with Mario as the main hero for an nintendo NES system. This was really known to be a very dreadful game. And, as most of us probably (or possibly) already know, Sega =/= Nintendo and vice versa. Well, I'm assuming this pirated game attempted to prove that statement wrong. But..... They somewhat kind of failed at it. I'm gonna try not to rant too much in this review. Anyways, let's find out more about the pirated game!
Gameplay: 5 Ahh... the conTROLLS & physics
Here is the real significant part about Sonic games. Sadly, they pretty much messed it up. Firstly, what messed up the gameplay was the horrible physics. When you try to run and jump, you some times barely move, some times move at a decent speed, or some times just move uncontrollably fast. Mario himself is hard to control. The game seems to think that Mario is moving fast when he is barely even moving. Some times even the opposite. Sometimes, when Mario jumps, he jumps up fast then falls down slow, some times he jumps up slow but falls down fast. It's randomly insane and unpredictable. Though, Mario can actually do the spin dash, but some times, he barely even moves fast with the spin dash and sometimes just blasts off like a rocket and you can't even control him for a few seconds. And by the time you regain control of him, he probably bumps into a badnik. In this game, you conTROLL Mario. (lol, get it?) Yea, to sum it up, the physics (which is a very significant thing in Sonic games) is messed up.
Graphics: 5
Ok. Now, I'll be a bit more lenient here. I must remember not to compare it to a Sega genesis since this is an NES after all. So, I'll say that it is bad.... but.... Not 100% bad. Like, in the title screen, for example, Mario does look like himself, but the way he is smiling and putting his fingers out like that without even looking at the right area (which is looking towards you) makes him look like some type of idiot. Mario, is of course not an idiot. Mario is awesome and adventurous, but in this game, he doesn't look so... great. Now, as for the quality, it is not that horrible. I mean it has some colors and looks minimal just to be considered a picture... But regardless, the color is poor and not very... accurate... You know what I mean? Like, the colors are too bright and somewhat color-less and off. Also, the animation somewhat flickers a bit and it's not really something you would want to see. But ehh... ok. Thats about it for the graphics.
Sound: 4
Now, the sound is even worse. Firstly, lets talk about the background music. The background music is barely enough to be considered a background music. It just has it's minimal beeps and boops to play some type of background music. More of a bad remix of the original background music for a sega genesis. Now, as for the sound effects.... they are pretty high pitched and not something that really motivates you to listen to it. You just don't want to hear a bunch of high pitched sounds. Thats about it for the sound. Not much else to talk about.
Addictiveness: 3
Ehh... Would you rather play a good sonic hack or this pirated game again? Would you rather play this again or try something else? Of course, I'd go with playing something else. Due to the low quality of this game, it doesn't really have any type of source of addiction for a gamer. No special or unique thing, no special features or challenges, just.... Cons.... really. I really hate to rant about this game. But. I can't lie in my review about the quality of this game though. The insane physics basically tells you to leave this game and the horrible sounds try to hurt your ears as if it is yelling, "Just don't play it again, please.". Yea, thats basically it. Sorry for the ranting, but I can't lie in my review.
Story: 6
Same old story like all other Sonic games. You need to simply defeat Dr. Eggman and foil his evil plans, except, Mario is the one to do that kind of job this time instead of Sonic. Barely makes any sense but thats the original story. Somewhat interesting though to see Mario do that kind of job, but there is no twists or anything in the story that can take advantage of this. But, the story is usually an insignificant thing about sonic games anyways. That is about it for the story. To sum it up, simple, boring, overused, but yet enough to be considered a story.
Depth: 6
Ok. I'll give this game some credit here. If you want me to explain it, it simply offers the same as Sonic 1 for the sega genesis, which is the zones and the game itself, but in lower quality and you play as Mario instead of Sonic. There is no other special options but simply playing the game in the zones. You got the badniks, bosses, zones, Mario, spin dash... Well... yes. That is basically it. Nothing else to say.
Difficulty: 9
Yea, As you can guess, very hard. Why? There are badniks typically everywhere that violently shoot projectiles very quickly once you arrive to them and some areas barely have any rings. Not only that, there is the horrible physics so avoiding the projectiles with the conTROLLS will be one heck of a challenge. And recovering your lost rings is also difficult too. That is basically the one and only reason this game is hard. and it is not hard in a good way. Thats about it for the difficulty.
OVERALL: 5
Well, thats about it. A somewhat interesting but horrible pirated game. Thanks for reading! Have a nice vizzed day! :)

Mario in sonic's world.   RedHotToddy
When will piraters learn that their pirate games are never going to get any love or respect? But this pirate game I am reviewing right now is a huge exception, This is somari, a hack game where you play as Mario in sonic the hedgehog's universe, But did they developers do any good? Let's see.
Story-5/10
I don't really think there should be a story to this game considering It is a pirate, But here's my plot, Sonic and Mario are sucked into a time warp portal, thus causing them to switch worlds, Sonic in Mario, and Mario in sonic. So it is up to Mario to defeat robotnik and save Sonic's world from trouble.
Gameplay-6/10
In this pirate game, you take the role of Mario, as you run through all of the classic level in the first ever sonic game defeating enemies and doing whatever, The first problem I have this game is how many enemies appear on the screen at once, It will cause you to get hit alot of times, And second, the hit detection. Anyways each world has 3 levels each, 2 main platforming levels, and 1 boss fight, The boss fights are pretty easy, but nothing special. Another thing from sonic that this game does not have, the special stages, Usually in sonic 1, if you have a bunch of rings at the end of the stage, you can jump into a ring and play a bonus level, Well actually, there are bonus levels, but they are just the ones from the game gear version of Sonic 1! It's Ok though.
Graphics-7/10
This is one part the developers actually did good in! The graphics department, all of the worlds and levels that you will be exploring are big, nice, and bursting with color. As for the sprites, they look pretty good as well, Most of the enemies are taken directly from the first sonic game, but that is no problem, As for Mario's sprite, he looks the same as he looked in Mario 3, but with sonic's shoes on. The HUD is pretty self explanatory, It shows your score, Your amount of lives, and your amount of rings.
Sound-6/10
Another good job for the developers, the sound, All the songs in this game are also ripped directly from Sonic 1 as well, and for what It's worth, It is not that bad,  Except they can repetitive for a while. As for the sound effects, they are your typical stuff, you get beeps, bloops, booms, bams, etc.
Addictiveness-7/10
Is this a game I am going to play again? Um sure, why not? The game does have It's moments at times, such as the bosses, the special stages, etc. But If there is one thing I can't get over, It's how I beat only 2 times in my life That is not alot if you ask me..I have beaten Ratchet and clank up your arsenal 3 times! Now that is alot if you ask me.
Depth-6/10
"Sigh" This game sadly doesn't offer anything much after you beat, Not even the chaos emeralds from the special stages! When you beat special stages, all you get is Just a bunch of score bonuses. The game is 6 worlds long, So It will most likely take you about 2-3 hours to beat at least.
Difficulty-8/10
Oh man was this game hard! I remember getting stuck on the 3rd level for about a week! Worse is each level has so many enemies It makes It hard to even make it the end of the level with even 1 ring,  But if you're an expert, You shouldn't have much trouble with this one.
Overall-6.9/10
This one wasn't too bad! It just needs a few little tweaks then maybe It can become the greatest pirate ever, I gave this game a 6.9 because how much fun and challenge the game offers, So see you guys in my next review!

Mario becomes a Sonic wannabe in this pirated game that's pretty bad...   Drweegee64
"An awesome Pirated game where they placed Mario in Sonics world!" to me and most people who have played this, is not a fitting description for this game. Somari is a absolute failure of a game.
Graphics- Well they look like Sonic 1's graphics but... bad. The master system version of Sonic 1 had better graphics than this. And Mario.... looks kinda stupid.
Music- The music is absolutely atrocious. It's meant to be the music of Sonic 1 except it's done REALLY badly.
Addictiveness- Well, I will most likely never play this again, unless I want to play a bad game for some reason. So I wouldn't say the addictiveness is very high, it somewhat depends on how dedicated you are to finishing that one level you can't get past, for me, that would be the first level, no, I'm not bad at the game, the game is just an unfair buggy mess.
Story- There's a story? Well I guess it would be the same as Sonic 1 except Mario is trying to save the day by trying (and failing) to be like Sonic.
Depth- Well I believe its the same length as Sonic 1, so there's not much here, but at least it has a decent length, I could only imagine what labyrinth zone is like on this game *shudders*. It will probably take some time to beat this game, if you master the controls and recall the horrible enemy placement.
Controls- The controls are... decent. It plays like Sonic, but you cannot run fast like Sonic. And it takes
forever to even pick up speed.  You pretty much run into everything
that prevents you from getting top speed. There is also a spin dash
move. It's cool that they actually included it. But it is useless.
Difficulty- The game is way too hard due to enemies coming out of nowhere and trying to dodge projectiles is about as easy as inserting a brick into a disk drive. Oh and there's a pit that if you fall in, you can't get out of it and you will get hit, grab a ring as you fall backwards and get hit again and again and again. Fun.
Overall- Not exactly the Mario/Sonic hybrid you may be looking for. I'm just waiting for the two of them to be in an actual game not related to the Olympics. I wouldn't recommend this unless you like, terrible music, graphics, controls and enemy placement. I doubt you would like all those.

Pirated Games = Fail Pirate!   Stevie 764
What if you mix SOnic and MARIo together? You got Somari, a pirate filled with fails!
The graphics aren't what you'd expect for a 8-bit system, there aren't goid ones.
This has to be one of the hardest pirated games ever existed since it's ABSOLUTE INSANITY AND IT'S HARD AS TRYING TO KNOCK DOWN THE STATUE OF LIBERTY!!! (No offense)
This game has 5 zones but skips Star Light Zone completly! Ain't that a fail, anyone?
There's no way you'll ever pick it up again because you are all ready to rage quit.
The sounds are bad, because of NES limits and Somari Team.
There isn't a story, so no detail here.
Overall, this is the big bad fail of pirates, I would smash the game with a hammer!
Overall Rating: F for fail.

This game is terrible   Pikachu-12
To begin this review, let's start with the graphics. They are pretty good for NES standards. My only main complaint with the graphics is that it is very difficult to see enemies in some areas. I also like the title screen. It is excellent for this time. The graphics are overall impressive for a NES/Famicom game.
For music, it is nothing special. In fact, it is terrible compared to other games on the system. Even for a pirated game, it is still awful. It is still great compared to some other pirated games. For example, it sounds beautiful next to Sonic Adventure 7, Sonic 3D Blast 5(Game Boy) and Pokémon Gold (Famicom). The sound effects are bad as well. It is like a high pitched "shrew" when you pick up rings. It sounds like a high pitched, "Dee dee dee dee" when you hit spikes or and enemy. Concluding the sound, it just isn't good at all.
Moving on to addictiveness, I wouldn't play this again. It is just Mario trying (and failing) to be Sonic. I just don't know why somebody would play this more than once. No offense to anyone who might like this game! Even for a pirated game, which I don't expect a lot out of, it has no addicting quality whatsoever.
The story of Somari is basically the same as the story in the original Sonic. The only difference here is that it isn't an enjoyable experience to go through in this game. And I am not sure, but if you can get Chaos Emeralds, it is even more tedious and stressful here than in any of the real Sonic games. Overall, the story is the same as the original Sonic, but more stressful to progress through.
The size of the game is smaller than the original Sonic. Why is it smaller? There is no Scrap Brain Zone! If that spoiled it, I apologize. But it is shorter than the greatness of Sonic 1 on the Genesis. I don't know what else must be said here. It is almost impossible to beat, but I never bothered to finish it. I got to final zone and died basically automatically.
The difficulty of this game is just unbelievable. As I mentioned earlier, it is nearly impossible to beat. The spin dash is slow, it glitches a lot, there are places that are impossible to get out and the controls are awful. I could of schooled this game if the controls weren't as bad as they are. While you are spin dashing, you can't control yourself at all. Another complaint I have here is there are no checkpoints. This game is extremely difficult. To conclude this review, I say this game is terrible. I give it a 0.2/10.

Somari - The Worst Game I've Ever Played!   KurisuKaname
Alright, so here I am with a review of MY Worst Game EVER! You thought Sonic 06 was the bottom of Donkey Kong's endless barrels? NOPE! I found even WORSE! I won't even go easy on the game just because it's a bootleg, but let the review explain why. Here we go!
GRAPHICS:
Alright so first thing's first, how does the game look? Well I would be nice to this game since it /IS/ a bootleg on the NES but this has gotten too bad to bare! I mean, the sprites are actually alright, but here's the problem...Half the time there's too many spammed on screen to render! The first boss was barely visible when I fought it! Sometimes I've been hit by sprites that either look exactly like the background or are not even loaded into System Memory. It's bad, it's sad. It's just terrible. That's why I rate the Graphics a 1/10
SOUND:
Again I should be nice to this game since it isn't even official but...I can't. The sound is atrocious. The first thing I get when I start the game is probably the worst rendition of The Sonic 1 Title Screen Music, I have EVER heard! It doesn't help that I go straight into the game with a bad rendition of Green Hill Zone, and so on and so forth, I'm sorry but I can't rate this high, not when it's on the same system that has memorable, GOOD MUSIC, like...The Soundtracks from The Super Mario Bros Series. Or even The Legend of Zelda Series. MAYBE EVEN THE MEGA MAN SERIES. This game's sound is just...bad. 1/10
ADDICTIVENESS:
I will probably NEVER play this game again unless I have to. Why? Because you feel like you're being trolled from the first 30 seconds in... The fact that before you can even get rings, you can be hit by seemingly unmissable (due to bad physics) enemies, is just terrible. I'll explain this under difficulty later, but just know...If you play this, you likely won't be addicted. 1/10
STORY:
Believe it or not, this piece of trash has a story, not displayed AT ALL in game, but displayed when you look for it online. Let me basically explain the story to you right now. Dr. Robotnik took a bunch of animals and turned them into robots. Now "SOMARI THE ADVENTURER", (a character who you will guess is OBVIOUSLY a strange love child or Gary Sue of Mario and Sonic mixed together...Which he is.) has to stop him. That's it...It's literally Sonic The Hedgehog's Plot, copypasted, with Mario and Sonic's love child stapled onto it. 1/10! NEXT!
DEPTH:
This game has SOME depth...Being able to have the attention span to play from beginning to end in a game that is obviously trolling the player with bad controls. That's about it. I'm being generous with this score but... 3/10.
DIFFICULTY:
Here we go. The high rating this will get is a BAD thing... Here's why. The controls are bad, they stick for no reason. Somari will rarely keep speeding up, rather he'll find a way to stay at the same, low, no momentum speed, that makes the game impossible, even when going down hill. This also means that most long platforming jumps are a leap of faith, on whether you'll go far enough to reach the next platform or just randomly drop from the sky for no reason at all. You'll find many pits full of spikes that are too large to come out of, unlike Sonic 2's infamous Pit of Death though...You find these about 1-3 times every level, they also make it impossible to die as most of these are too small for the rings to leave you UNLESS they glitch up the wall (AS IF THAT'S GOOD PROGRAMMING), leaving you there forever or until you go back to your last save state. I've also found that enemy placement is terrible with too many buzz bombers for the game to load in some EARLY levels, and even on the FIRST LEVEL, it seems impossible to get passed the first two enemies without hax. Long story short. 10/10 Difficulty, that's a bad thing, the game is unplayable.
OVERALL
The game's bad. It's terrible, don't play it unless you are just curious. Even then don't, This needs to go back to the realm of obscurity to remain for all time. Anyways....I rate this a 0.1/10 That's my final score, don't waste your Viz on this, just go on to play something else.
