Sniper: Ghost Warrior Review by: darthyoda - 9.5/10

Sniping Ghost Warriors
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Sniper? This game captures that feeling. Stealth, Thought, and Accuracy! One shot, one kill! (Or two if you good enough.) Do you have what it takes to become a world-class sniper? Can you overthrow the Isla Trueno militants? Are you going to be the Sniper: Ghost Warrior?

Grahpics: The jungle environments are briliantly designed! The bushes are cover, hide, and make sure that you take out the people in your way quietly! They can be killed by running around carelessly, but that brings other guards to the area, making your mission difficult. They have done a good job with these guards! Each one is design with realistic guerrilla fighter looks. The people (City Interactive) who designed this game, did a good job with almost everything! The cut-scenes are just as good as the game, which is something I really like! If you are wanting to become the ultimate Sniper, make sure to make the shot, take cover, and just have a blast!
The graphics are amazing! Especially for a first-person Shooter. 10/10.

Sound: The voice acting is okay, but it's not terrible. But that's not the gem in this game. The gun sounds are what is cool! The Silencers are more accurate than I have ever seen in Video Games. As it really is a Suppressor, not Silencer, but that's a technicality. As this is a stealth game, you do have to make sure that you use either knives, a pistol, the sniper rifle. (All of those are silenced.) But, what about the songs? Well, I do like the music, in-game, but outside of it, I don't really like it too much. I had problems liking it, because  it's a little to techno for me, but it does add to the suspense needed to create an effective stealth game. The game changes the sound when you get spotted, adding to the awesomeness of it, as you really get nervous, because you don't want an all firefight!
I really like the sounds, especially the suppressed guns! I give the sound a 9/10.

Addictiveness: The game is really addictive! It's fun to be stealthy, take a shot, and hit! It's more fun because of the realistic nature of the shots! I love stealth games, and this one only lightly touches on it, giving me a good taste for a genre I have come to love! The game makes a linear gameplay style, feel much bigger, because of the distance at which the shots are made. It really has longer distances than most FPS games, which I love! I like having an expansive map, that feeling of freedom, even though it is artificial in this game, it's still addicting!
What more can you say other than that addictive games are addictive. I give it a 9/10.

Story: Okay, so this is where the game kind of stinks. It has the typical FPS story, betrayal, mission gone wrong, you need to clean up after them. This isn't bad, but the story-line really seems overused and extremely aged. While not completely stupid, the need for a new FPS story is really high. Halo has a good story, and they have had 6 or so games released. Most games like Battlefield and Call of Duty go with the betrayal route, and it gets old, like a shoe that has been used for years and years. Because of this, the story gets an average rating. I have the Gold edition, which gives a few extra levels, but I haven't gotten far enough into that to rate it, and I don't want to give the entire story. Just expect the unexpected.
The story is fine, but old and worn. I give it an 8/10.

Gameplay/ Controls: The game is really fun because of the gameplay. You have accurate sniping mechanics which adds to the authenticity of the Sniping title. The best thing is the distance calculation. Most games let you aim on the center of the cross-hair to shoot at him. (The target) but as any marksman knows, that would only work for close targets. You have to make sure you account for bullet drop. You also have wind-age! That is something that is hard to figure out at first, but it's easy to get a hang of. That and the heart-rate makes a big difference in how accurate that is, which means you need to take time after running. You can't just run, crouch, shoot, run, crouch shoot. You have to wait until your heart-rate is around 80/s or something like that. (It's 80 something.) This is hard, especially when you are under pressure and need to eliminate 5+ targets at once. (Usually just normal guards.) You also can't just hide and recover health, you have a limited number of infusion things that heal you. This makes the game more hard than it already is. The controls are simple. While using the sniper rifle, shift is the concentration mode. Space is jump, everything else is normal. There is little need for running as the guards are very good! They hear almost every noise, and spot you from a long distance. This adds a cool element to the gameplay.
The game is awesome, and anything that could take away from the game is made up for here. 10/10.

Depth: The game has secrets hidden on the map, but really that doesn't take away from the linear style. But, you have DLC which has extra campaigns, maps and some other features. But, you have to be willing to dish out some extra cash for that. And, although the game is rather linear, I do enjoy the feeling of a large environment you get. You can take out each person strategically, and that gives is a kind-of depth feel. So really all of it is just a feeling, there really is no depth to the game. Just as you wouldn't say that Call of Duty has depth, neither does this game.
The game is a good 8/10. This isn't bad though, it feels much bigger than it actually is.

Difficult: The game gets hard, especially if your Stealth fails. The game has smart AI, which is a nice change of pace. Also, you can frequently miss, as you have to calculate the distance, wind strength, and the beat of your heart. That makes each shot much harder. The game is unforgiving then, because it is rather realistic in the area of finding you. Most snipers will agree that after two shots the enemy knows where you are. That makes the game much more fun, as it adds to the challenge in a good way.
The game can get really hard. Therefore I give it a 9/10. Better hide before they spot me AGAIN!

Overall: This is a Sniping masterpiece! The game is fun! You have a more realistic sniping element than the wildly popular Sniper Elite series. You have almost everything to calculate, making a challenging FPS game! I love the way the game plays! Simple, yet effective controls, great graphics and a soundtrack that makes the game better than it already is! I love the game Sniper: Ghost Warrior. And, although it might seem odd to give it a high 9.5/10 I think it deserves it!
