Hello Vizzed users. Becky Leon here for another review. This thread is about a game based on the classic Hanna Barbara cartoon. No, not the Flintstones (that's next time ) but Scooby Doo .
Gameplay : the game "Scooby Doo mysteries " is about the Scooby Doo gang (Freddy, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby) going to four different locations and solve mysteries. One is a pirate ship, then the carnival, next is the woods, then last is the haunted mansion. Each of the levels have their own boss and enemies (pirate, clown, some tar monster, and a vampire ) and it's up to them to solve the mystery and find out who is behind the mask.
You play as Scooby and shaggy exploring the levels finding objects to progress throughout the level. You also have to find materials needed to capture the monster terrorizing the territory. Your health is based on a scare meter. The more they get attacked, the higher it goes. Once it fills the bar, you lose a turn. Once you complete a level, you get a password and go to the next level.
There's also mini games like making a sandwich and swirl slide and whacking monsters.
Graphics-8: Graphics are nice and detailed but bits of it is too bold. I feel like that the developers should of spent a little bit more to improve the graphics but it's acceptable the way it is. I like how they kept it retro though, keeps the feeling of the game staying its roots with the show
Sound-9 : The music is great Bits of the original songs are in it and it was a great choice by putting them on the game. On the main menu, you here the music track that is used in episode titles, or the suspense music used for the carnival level. I enjoy hearing it and it brings nostalgia
Addictive -7: you get hooked once you start playing but after you finish the game.... You rarely play it again.
Story-9: it contains four "episodes" and keeps the story flowing until the end of the level. Brings out interest when you play and progress in the story in that level.
Depth-8 : Game goes nicely and has a nice flow. With each episode you follow through the level but gets so repetitive.
Difficulty -7: controls are a bit clunky but once you know what to do, easy to play. Some objects though, are hard to find.
This game is really great and come on, everyone loves Scooby Doo. I recommend it to anyone who likes mystery puzzle games and Scooby Doo lol.
