Pokemon yellow review   SacredShadow
This game is one of the first Pokemon games, it is basically the same as red and blue, with the exception of pikachu. Nonetheless, it was the third pokemon to ever come out and I must say that I greatly enjoy playing this game each and every time. Now to the review!
Overall: 9.5
I give this game an overall of about 9.5, the game is really good being one of the first the game has a really good story and a decent amount of stuff you can do in the game.
Graphics: 8
Considering that this is one of the first Pokemon games and the graphics are just starting out, they are actually not bad. Sure Pokemon has improved and developed a lot since then, but the graphics are still very good considering it is an early pokemon game. I also like how there are at least some colors in each city your in, and the pokemon also have color. There are also some ocean waves and flowers as well that are really nice additions to the game. In battle, the graphics are fairly decent as well, even though the pokemon themselves (mainly your pokemon) aren't very detailed. Some of the move animations look really cool though and you can certainly tell that time and effort has been put into making them. Overall, I gave the graphics an 8 which is being generous, but I still feel like the graphics are fairly good once you take into consideration the time that this game was made and how much it has changed since then.
Sound: 8
As far as sound goes, it is pretty good in this game and it has some nice, yet unforgettable catchy tunes to enjoy. Like the graphics, the music changes with each city you enter. When you enter a battle the music shifts to a more epic and rapid pace that sets the stage for a battle. The pokemon also have their own move sounds and cries which can sound very similar for a lot of the pokemon, nonetheless, it is a nice bonus. Overall, the music is pretty catchy and the only gripe I have as far as sound and music go is that the music can be quite repetitive when you are in a city for quite a while and the sound can be a bit fuzzy at times, still not that big of a deal though which is why I scored the sound of this game an 8
Addictiveness: 8
Re-playability wise, this game is pretty fun and there is a decent amount of stuff to do to keep you busy and interested in playing it. You can catch all 150 pokemon without trading, and you can also spend your time leveling them up to 100. I certainly enjoyed this game, even though I have played it plenty of times, it is still fun and there is just something about it that keeps it exciting. I can certainly see myself playing this classic quite a few more times in the near future, thus I score the overall addictiveness of this game an 8.
Story: 9
The Pokemon story rarely ever changes and since this is one of the first pokemon games before the story started to get repetitive, it was relatively enjoyable in this game because if you have followed pokemon from the beginning and you played this game for the first time, it was pretty exciting. You start off as a young adventurous trainer fighting off tough enemies, and become the Pokemon champion. You face several trainers, and gym leaders and then take on the elite 4 and become a champion! And all the while, you're pokemon are getting stronger along the way! I gave the story a 9 because even though it is basically the same story, I never really grow weary of it while playing this game. Overall I scored the story of this game a 9 because it rather exhilarating to follow and play through for the first time.
Depth: 7
The game has a decent amount of stuff to do to keep you busy, as I said before, you can collect all of the 150 pokemon and you can also level them up and train them until they reach 100. Training your pokemon in this game is actually a lot more difficult in my opinion than it is in comparison to the newer pokemon games. Nonetheless, there is still a good amount of stuff to do throughout the game. This is a game that should take a good few days, to a week to actually beat, but the time in which you beat it varies with how experienced you are with pokemon and how well you train, even still, it shouldn't take an extremely long time to beat, but it also shouldn't be a game that you beat in 10 minutes and never play again. Overall I scored the depth a 7
Difficulty: 4
As far as difficulty goes, the game itself is very easy to enjoy and maneuver through and nothing is extremely complicated. It is also fairly easy to play and there aren't any difficult puzzles or patterns either. The only thing that could make it difficult is if you try to rush through it with under leveled pokemon because it will be harder to succeed. It is really worth your time to train your pokemon and also to create a well balanced team. To be on the safe side, you should try to keep your pokemon close together in levels and you should also try and teach them some good moves as well. type variation is helpful as well because you can't go around trying to beat other trainers with just one type of pokemon, and if you try to, it will be difficult. Other than that, it isn't all that complicated. Control wise, it is also rather easy because all you do is move around using the arrows and you press them to run, and there is also a button for the menu as well as to select anything from it. For the most part, this game is for anybody, and you don't have to be a pokemon wizard to play it considering it is pretty easy to get the hang of, therefore, I scored it a 4 for difficulty.
Overall: 9.5

I gave this game an overall of 9.5, the game is really good being one of the first pokemon games. I definitely recommend it to those who are a fan of pokemon games, and those who like the classics because this is the game for you!

Thanks for reading! And be sure to check out my other reviews!

Pokemon Yellow Review!!   Bintsy
Pokémon Yellow! This game is pretty awesome! It's basically the same as Pokémon red and blue but has a slight anime twist because mainly that's what it is. You have a starter Pokémon which is pikachu and cool characters like Jessie and James. I think it's probably one of the more popular games of Pokémon and I am not going to lie it's probably one of my more favorite ones.
Graphics: (9)  I think the graphics are pretty decent. They are pretty much like the other Pokémon games but it gives a little more 'flavor' and color in my opinion. I'm guessing some would disagree with me on that but it is just my opinion. When it comes to Pokémon game graphics I become a little sketchy because I like older style graphics but my favors are more towards newer style graphics. So far most of the graphics of all the Pokémon games I have played are good. I played my brothers Pokémon X game for his 3ds and I didn't really like the graphics as much as I like the ones from this game. I think  it varies a lot of times. My overall score is a 9 though because they are good but have a few colors that I don't really like.
Sound: (9) The sound of this game is decent pretty much like other Pokémon games. As many of you that have read my recent reviews you know that I don't like annoying music because I have frequent headaches and migraines. My entire life though playing Pokémon games I haven't received a headache, so I guess that's saying something. I like the music it's edgy. The sound over all is a 9 though because it's great music and sounds but its a lot of the same sounds that is most Pokémon games.
Addictiveness: (10) I rated a 10 on the addictiveness because yet again I am just a fan of Pokémon Games in general and I end up playing them hours at a time. This one is more fun though than most because you get to play with pikachu and my favorite Pokémon would probably have to be pikachu. I remember growing up this is one of the only games I played on rainy days. I love rainy days... it's also the perfect day for a game of Pokémon Yellow :d
Story : (8) The story is really the same as other Pokémon games. I like playing it because you get to defeat different trainers and stuff but overall the story is just repeative in some scenes. I gave the story an 8 rating because as I do enjoy the game and the repetive ness doesn't bother me it is similar to other Pokémon games so I won't be in denial.
Depth: (8)  The Depth of the game is pretty decent. You can spend hours at a time playing this game and you would still have tons of things to accomplish or trainer's in the game to battle. It's fun and I have beat this game several times but it's a long process. You have to have some  kind of free time or you will be playing it every day for a very long time.
Difficulty:  (5) I rated this game a 5 because it's VERY easy. Especially for adults and even children for that matter. When I was about 10 I was playing this game and it was really easy. I went through almost all the stages of the game with no problem. For some I won't deny it can be complicated especially if your not familiar with a Pokémon game and this is your first one. Overall the difficulty of this game is just slim to none to me.
Overall: (9) Overall this game is a 9 to me. I would recommend it to anybody, it has it's cons like a couple of smears in graphics repeativeness and the difficulty is just not much of a challenge at all. I have been playing this game for years though and I never get tired of it. It's fun and it's especially a game I can play when I want to get away from every thing else. Just focus on this and I forget about pretty much everything else. Try it out if you haven't already I am sure you will enjoy it :)
Anyways

Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition   Redrunelord
To say life can be overwhelming on mere mortals is a considerable understatement. Indeed, life can be flat out cruel, in the eyes of humans, as the bad has to be taken with the good. What constitutes as “bad” or “good” depends entirely on a human's concept of what is owed to them/their desires, and what they really may get. It is rather interesting how some humans copes with the immense differences between their desires and what becomes reality; some may resort to “being the man who arranges the blocks” as Tetris personifies, and some relies on escapism.
Escapism is the core of all human creativity and innovation; it is only through closing the doors to the outside world can another world be opened up to the mind's eye. It is when a human enters this world that great ideas are spawned, and these ideas often returns with the human when they re-enters the “real world.” Escapism is all forms of expression, whether it is music, art, literature and even video games. A good example of fantasies being made reality is Pokémon.
Pokémon have been around for over 15 years, and still going fairly strong. The basic premise is that these creatures/companions inhabit the world with humans, and humans built their entire lives around these Pokémon, whether it be for battling, breeding or simple company. The Pokémon franchise covers all forms of medias, but ultimately it began as two role playing games: Pokémon Red, and Pokémon Green (Blue outside of Japan). Needless to say these were quite successful, and the success prompted numerous forms of expansion, including the third game in the first generation: Pokémon Yellow. Yet how does this game differ from its predecessors, and is it worth the time of day to play?
Pokémon Yellow, like its relatives, is essentially a game where the player is to, with a starter Pokémon, go on an adventure building a team, and battling their way to the top while filling out their Pokédex (an encyclopedia that records all Pokémon seen and caught). It do have some differences to its other first generation counterparts, which will affect the game play significantly, and these will be brought up later. First, however, are the game's general stats and information, for someone unfamiliar with the first two games.
Visually, the game is quite competent for a hand-held of it's era. It reuses a significant number of sprites from blue and red, as it is taking place in the same region with similar characters and the same Pokémon. There are minor configurations here and there, particular with saturation: some characters would appear to have a yellow saturated appearance now. As well, some extra sprites were added, like Chanseys in Pokémon Centers. One beneficial addition was how different areas got a different prevalent tone to it (for instance, Cerulean City has a significant blue monochromatic style) which helps vary up the environments. The soundtrack is largely memorable, but how appealing it is depends entirely on the player. Music has always been one of the major subjective natures about video games, but for an 8 bit game is quite well done, on a technical level. The only real problem with the music is certain events are tied with certain soundtracks in a manner that is annoying. The most prevalent example is that while on the bicycle, only its theme can be heard. The problem there is if someone dislikes it, they have to resort to either turning the sound off, putting up with a potentially annoying tune, or walk. The other sound effects, like moves in battle, is solid as well, but not a lot to say except they may also be annoying after several hours of straight playing, but that depends entirely on the player's opinion.
The game play is almost impossible to describe in brevity, but can essentially be split into the over world/travelling aspects, and the actual combative nature. These two are tied together considerable, but there’s an obvious distinction.
The first of these two forms of game play is by far what is the most common, and it is a mixed bag. It follows a style that would be familiar to Final fantasy fans: a birds eye view from a certain angle, that the player travels from place to place and prepares for the combat. It is pure and simple classic role playing; certain areas are cut off until later in the game, growing progressively harder over time, and with the player's decisions out of combat having a significant impact on how they will fare later. Indeed, this is the time when the player has to decide how to build their team, buy and sell supplies, and figure out how they will proceed. The actual movement is largely linear, requiring the player to complete the game in a general set frame, and to a degree the teams, yet the player has almost total freedom to return back to previous places they been to. Almost. Certain points in the game is completely impossible to return to parts the player been to previously until they acquire a certain item (usually an HM, a Hidden Machine). Nonetheless there is nothing stopping the player from hunting down rare and powerful Pokémon before they fights the Elite Four.
To store said Pokémon, there is a Box system where all of a player's Pokémon can be kept while they carry around their main combat team. Each box would store 20 Pokémon maximum, and if a box is full the player would have to switch to another. They can be switched between from any PC (except the one at home), and is essential to building a team and filling out the Pokedex. It is the first Pokémon storage system, and is understandably clunky to use, as it is a text based system. It is largely functional, but the main frustration is trying to find a Pokémon that is stored in the PC when several of these 20 Pokémon boxes are filled, so time to organize is absolutely essential.
There is also a box to store items, aka the player's PC. This is essentially to hold the items that the player is incapable of carrying around with them all the time, mainly unused TMs (Technical Machine) and HMs that the player wishes to save for later. This system is essentially one long list of items, and can take a long time to sort through, especially with HM/TM's biggest flaw: a lack of name. The item is simply labelled with Tm or HM and a number, but what the item actually does is unknown until the player actually uses the item. For HM moves, it is rather simple as there are only five, but with up to 50 TM's, the player needs to either have a list of all the TM's and their functionality, or manually sort through every single one. The item list also needs to be manually organized, but is quite simple to do so with the aid of the Select button. The player's inventory is almost as important as the team, as items to tend to Pokémon out in the field, like Potions or Antidotes, items to catch Pokémon, and general handy items like the Bicycle and Map are stored here. Having a healing item on hand could be the difference between victory and defeat. Overall, asides from the “clunky” nature of the Inventory and item/Pokémon storage, it is suitable; rudimentary, but adequate.
Combat works much like any other turn based role playing game: The player has to, with their team, eliminate the opposing trainer’s team, or defeat/capture wild Pokémon. The system basically relies on the player sending out Pokémon with a specific move-set and their stats. It is a standard system otherwise, and it is a strong system. There is definite elements of strategy as fair as which Pokémon to use, as all of them got various advantages/disadvantages, and a real risk vs reward system, as the tougher opponents the player goes against, the more experience (and possibly money if against a trainer) will be earned. As well, there is a definite advantage to actually working hard to raise a Pokémon rather than catch one of equal level, as its stats will be higher, and the player got much more control over which moves it may know. Combat isn't perfect however, in part due to the lack of ability to re-challenge trainers that the player has defeated before, with the exception of the Elite Four. This reduces replay value as sometimes someone would like to replay the gyms and other trainers, but keep their Pokedex and stronger Pokémon asides for later should they desire rather than lose it all (with the only way to preserve them is trade them to another cartridge and return, but that is not always possible).
Now, typically in a Pokémon game, the player would start with a grass, water, or fire Pokémon, but not in this particular version. The big thing that makes the game stand out is that the player's starter Pokémon is a Pikachu, mirroring the anime. Indeed, asides from adding a loose storyline based off of the anime series, this adds some interesting tactical considerations. For instance, how the player has to build their team is completely different now, especially as the three normal starters are available at varying parts of the game. Furthermore, your rival's team is different this time around, which can easily make the game a lot harder. Throw in the fact the player's first gym is one that is strong against Pikachu...it adds a few new elements to game play.
The storyline, as stated before, is only loosely based around the anime, but the player will pick up subtle references that is indigenous to the TV series. Not everything is the same, obviously, and a better representation of the Pokémon series could be found in a hack also on Vizzed. Nonetheless, there is still more to the story than the Red/Blue predecessors, but it is flat on the whole. Overall, it gets a pass but is a far cry from an amazing story.
The game is far from perfect, however. Asides from aforementioned issues of varying degrees, there are some flaws that could make or break this game for someone trying to play through, especially a total completion run. Many of these flaws would later be fixed in the second and third generations, but they're still here nonetheless.
Probably one of the biggest flaws would be repetition in training and travelling, and any veteran will know exactly what is meant by that. In order to truly be prepared for the challenges up ahead without losing frequently, the player has to know what is coming, and prepare accordingly. However, should the player discover they are lacking a certain Pokémon or move-set required to beat a certain spot (like say a gym) and it is unavailable through, they either got to train their team to prowess levels, or catch the required Pokémon and raise it from scratch. This brings up an interesting issue as well which can add repetition to travelling: wild Pokémon frequency. The general idea is after going through certain areas at a certain pace, Pokémon would be encountered randomly. However, there are spots that have an irrationally high frequency rate that could drive the player insane, with the most notable example being Zubat in caves. This makes moving through without battling exceptionally frustrating, and it is almost necessary to skip a lot of these the first time through any cave system as it could exhaust PP points, unless the player has either a large team or a strong one. Pikachu's electric attacks helps with Zubat, but it still does not make things go a lot faster. While this speeds up training, it is still extremely repetitive and makes certain parts of the game a drag to try and pick up. As well, though some spots have a plethora of wild Pokémon, with one coming up every few steps, there are areas it could be infuriating to find a wild Pokémon, especially one that gives any major experience points for making it faint. In short, training and navigation could prove very tedious as spots depending what the player's objectives are at that given moment.
As well, it is technically impossible to achieve all 151 Pokémon in Vizzed without using one of the home brew versions. The reason is that all three first generation games requires trading with other players to get some of the Pokémon from other games, and that is currently impossible through emulation, unless a multiplayer system could be implemented. Even with an actual game boy, the player would need to either have a very generous Pokémon Fan of a friend, or own two Game Boys, have a cable to hook them up, and own another game compatible with Yellow. As well, the player will be forced to have at least 2 playthroughs if a second generation game is the only means to trade, as certain Pokémon are unavailable through a game such as Silver.
In conclusion, there isn't much, if anything, that hasn't already been said about Pokémon Yellow. It is an extremely high selling game, and is critically acclaimed by a large number of reviewers. Despite its flaws, it is ultimately a well built game, and is recommended alongside Pokémon Red or Blue, to add a slightly different approach to game play. For one of the first games in the series, it has a lot of potential, and that was shown over the series' subsequent game ironing out many of the flaws and finding ways to improve the game. It is ultimately competent in most aspects, and what few glitches there are is actually encouraged in order to get the 151st Pokémon, and a few special miscellaneous ones. However, Pokémon Yellow will always be there as a solid role play game, or maybe just a pocket full of memories. If the player wishes to have a game with a similar combat style to the traditional turn based system where one has to build a team, and don't mind the storyline, then this is a feasible option. Should the player desire an exceptionally deep or complicated story, especially for a Game Boy game, or is unwilling to spend hours upon hours playing, then look away. Fans of the Pokémon series should also look back at this gem, and if they never already play it for fun, or even just to see how the series has developed. As with many games like this, the player has to decide whether to throw that Poke ball, or let Pikachu go in the wild, but it will take time to make said decision.

The old classic   jaws123
This is was my first pokemon game ever. It was also my first handheld game ever. I bought a gameboy color from a friend and he threw the game in for free. I played this game for hours on end. Stayed up much later then i should of but it was all worth it. Sadly my sister deleted my game and i was so crushed i never played it for a long time. Eventually the addiction for this game wore off so i sold the gameboy to my sister who broke it after a while. So heres my review of the game. Enjoy!
GRAPHICS: 8/10
The graphics are pretty good in this game when it comes to the buildings and terrain. Everything is identifiable and easy to make out what they are. When battling the graphics are a bit different. Some of the pokemon are a little bit hard to make out what they are. For example, when i first saw Tauros i thought he had a head both in the front of his body and in the back. Later when i got to play 3rd gen games i realized he had three tails and not another head.
SOUND: 10/10
The music in this game is really catchy. I will NEVER forget the first town music. The little tingy music was is addictive. I really enjoyed the music when you ride your bike. The sound overall is just really good and catchy.
ADDICTIVENESS: 9/10
The only reason why I give the addictiveness 9 out of 10 is that near the 6th gym you start to lose your enthusiasm. When it gets less obvious where to go and what to do it starts getting less fun. That happened to me when i finished the poison gym and couldn't find surf.
STORY: 9/10
The story is simple short and sweet. You are a pokemon trainer on a mission to catch all the pokemon, beat all the gyms and pokemon the league champion. You don't really have to catch all the pokemon to win. You can just get cool items by doing that. You have a rival who you battle throughout the game and finally defeat at the league championships.
DEPTH: 7/10
There is a lot to do in this game. Overall it's pretty long and there is a lot of play time involved. There are lots of pokemon to catch and add to your pokedex if you want. 8 gyms to beat and then the elite four right before the champion.
DIFFICULTY: 6/10
It's not a hard game to beat. There are some places where it's not totally obvious what to do but that makes it a good game. What kind of game is just easy all the way through? A BAD ONE!! The battles are not hard as long as you have a well balanced team that can match up tp any pokemon with super effective hits.
OVERALL: 10/10
If you are a pokemon fan and you haven't played this game, PLAY IT!! It's a great game that you have to play to be a dedicated fan if you ask me. If you can't handle the bad graphics then you aren't a good fan either. Pokemon is about the game play. I highly recommend this game to everyone. If you never played pokemon then you may just become hooked int he series when you play this game.

Looking back on a Classic   BrenTenkage
Looking back at this game I had to work hard to go back to the 10 year old mindset, a child whose hand held experience was simple, but here is the problem, the game itself, not the concept or what it was, just isn't as playable.
Don't get me wrong, I believe at the time the game was great, the fact you could play as if you were Ash Ketchum was a great selling point, with the little pikachu sprite following you around, getting more and more attached to you and of course seeing Jesse and James and Meowth (that's right) in sprite form was also a treat. However.
The game mechanics are far outdated, and only hard core fans could slog through the outdated controls and concepts. No abilities, no defining natures, hell no separate bags to keep items in, maybe its just the fact I'm spoiled by the newer Gen (and excited for the newest upcoming game)
Graphics: Ok looking at the sprites and the areas, ok its simple and basic at times and pretty detailed spites when it comes to the Pokémon , which I must say, was a great improvement from Red and Blue, seriously compare the two sets of sprites and its like night and day, although I do miss the Gene Simmons Golbat, that was pretty cool. Pretty much for the time the graphics are good, it is a product of the time I can't argue with that one, and seeing the old Celadon City does bring back some good memories.
Sound: Now when it comes to the sound I got to say the music still holds up, from the classic battle theme to the gym leader fight, and that nice tune from Celadon City's game corner (although the one from Gold and Silver is far better I will admit) the Pokémon sound effects are decent as well and all and all its a good experience...also hearing the anime cry of "PIKACHU" when you send out Pikachu is always a nice treat.
Addictiveness: Ok why a 4, well the reasoning is the fact well....its outdated, no reason to replay this cept for pure nostalgia, yeah its fun to go around catching Pokémon, but I can do it with Leaf Green or Fire Red, or perhaps a fun rom hack, again product of the times and not a problem on the game itself. Its a good game and it can be fun. But now a days the addictiveness is kinda lost thanks to the fact there are new games to play.
Story: The Story is basic, pretty much the story is to get you from point A to Point B, it is there but there are no real subtle things, ok the twist that the Boss of Team Rocket is the final Gym Leader, yeah that blew my mind as a kid but really its a simple story easy to follow and not get lost in, neither good nor bad.
Depth: Ok as far as the limitations of the time, what it can offer for now, its pretty deep, at least 6 hours worth of gameplay if you are pretty quick, more if you are putting more effort to get what you want and grind, then to find and catch all the Pokémon even more time. For a handheld the depth is pretty high, then again pretty much all main Pokémon games share this trait, for a handheld game they have a lot of depth.
Difficulty: Ok this depends on the age, if you are a little kid, its sometimes a challenge, but if you watched the show you had the guide and knew the type advantages and what most Pokémon did with signature attacks. As an adult the rules are simple to understand and learn (heck me I'm more of a casual so I don't optimize as often as say the pro battlers. ) When it comes to this game, its really simple, if you can't beat a gym, get a better Pokémon or grind your current team, no troubles really.
Overall: I gave this an 8 because for the time it was a really good game, now a days its an old relic, but in my opinion I think its still a gem if you love old GBC games. Really I wish they would remake this game, its a real gem and I always hoped they would give this game the remake treatment, we can only hope ^_^.

Pokemon Yellow Review   starwars293
Hello people, this is starwars293 here with another review. This time, I am reviewing Pokemon Yellow for the Game Boy. A great Pokemon game with some stuff used in later Pokemon games. Pretty much in Heart Gold and Soul Silver, your front Pokemon can stay out of their Poke Ball and walk with you. In this game, only Pikachu can walk with you since it hates being in its Poke ball. They took that idea from this game and used it i Heart Gold and Soul Silver, but changed it a bit.
You pretty much play like Ash. One of the names you can use is Ash. I might guess that you play as Ash. If not, then it might be Red from Gold, Silver and Crystal. In fact, I think you do play as Red, yeah. You pretty much do the same thing like you do in Red and Blue pretty much.
It is different from Red and Blue by a few things. First off, you start with Pikachu and your Rival starts with Eevee. You were suppose to start with Eevee, but your rival pushes you out of the way and he takes it instead. Oak gives you Pikachu for your starter. You can get the three main starters later on during the game. I will tell you at the end of this review.
Second, when you fight Lt Surge, his only Pokemon is his Raichu. Like from the anime in the first season when Pikachu fights Rachu. Trust me,it is pretty hard to beat in this game. That Raichu is level 29 when you fight it. You can beat it by using a Earthquake or a ground move like that, or just get your Pokemon's levels up to level 29 or near that level. You can get an advantage by doing one of those two things.
The gym leader are hard like they were in Red and Blue. Mostly Giovanni. Pokemon Yellow is the hardest of the three Game boy games. The levels in this game are like up to 60 or so. It makes the game hard. If I were you, I would do lots and lots of training before you fight the gym leaders.
The Elite four is pretty much the same thing from Red and Blue. They still have the same Pokemon though. Your rival, well it would depend really. If your rival's Eevee is evolved into Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon, it would have different teams of Pokemon. It really isn't hard to beat him. Just have the right Pokemon, the right level and you'll win and be the Pokemon Master. Now to the review.
Gaphics- The graphics are good. The color changes when you go into a new place, city or route.
Sound-The sound is good really. It's just the sound from Pokemon Red and Blue really, nothing changed I think.
Addictivness-I would want to play this game again so I can get my Pokemon up to level 100 and catch them all
Story-You are a Pokemon trainer, wanting to be the best. You journey your way through the Kanto region, battling new trainers and catching all of the Pokemon while you collect gym badges to challenge the Elite four.
Depth-It offers new starter Pokemon like Eevee and Pikachu since they are the only starters. The levels even increase by 5-6 levels from the other two games
Difficulty-This game is hard. Not the hardest, but it is hard. You really need to train a lot and get the right Pokemon for battles.
The Starers- I now get to this part. You guys will know now how to get the three starters.
Charmander-Go to the Nugget Bridge in Cerulean City, then go to the top left corner. You will see a guy standing there. He has Charmander with him. Go talk to him and he'll ask if you want it. Say yes if you want it. Make sure you have room in your party
Bulbasaur-While you're in Cerulean City, go to a house to the left of the Pokemon Center. There should be a lady there. Go up and talk to her. You can only get Bulbasaur if Pikachu is very happy. Once that is done, she'll ask if you want Bulbasaur. Say yes if you want it. Make sure you have room in your party
Squirtle-Make sure you're in Vermillion City. Go to the lower middle of the city. There should be a trainer there. It has a misbehaving Squirtle and the trainer wants another trainer to take care of it. You can only get the Pokemon when you defeat Lt Surge. Talk to the trainer. The trainer will ask if you want Squirtle. Say yes if you want the Pokemon. Make sure you have room in your party
Overall-This a fun and hard game to play, and I like it.
Wrap Things Up- Pokemon Yellow is a fun and hard game to play. I would recommend to play this game like all the other Pokemon Games. It's so much fun to play. You would want to catch all 150 Pokemon in this game and get them to level 100 and be the best trainer in the whole region.
This has been another starwars293 review

Pokemon Yellow   FalcoDude
The Pokemon rage has dominated the games market by using the same urge
to collect technique that powered other rages like Magic cards and
Pogs. Unlike the previous two, Pokemon has managed to sustain its
popularity through toys, cards, a feature-length movie and a top-rated
cartoon. It's this specific cartoon that Pokemon yellow is based on.

if you're already familiar with the red & blue versions, the first

thing you will have noticed in yellow is that you begin with Pikachu as
your starting pokémon, just like in the cartoon, and he follows you
around everywhere. The best thing about this is that you can check his
attitude from time to time and he ACTUALLY SAYS HIS NAME! Even though
there's a bit of static, the fact that you can create sound like this
on a gameboy is a remarkable achievement! Even more surprising is that
there are at least twenty different ways Pikachu can say his name
whether he's happy, sad, scared, confused, poisoned, etc. etc.

Another

difference to this version is that all the Pokemon have been re-drawn
to look exactly like they did in the cartoon and the pokédex data has
been changed. Jessie and James also make a guest appearence a few times
(too few in fact) and recite their horribly corny motto as they attack
you with Ekans/Arbok, Koffing/Weezing, and Meowth. Other nice touches
are that Brock and Misty have also been re-drawn too look like the
cartoon and the other gym leaders have different pokémon. Also, the
yellow version sports an excellent "Surfing Pikachu" mini-game which
can only be reached if you own Pokemon Stadium (or a Gameshark). The
unknown dungeon has been redesigned and the Pokemon present in this
version are different from red & blue. You can even get Bulbasaur,
Charmander and Squirtle all at once!

Now the downside to this

version is that the replay value has been diminished a little because
you ALWAYS start off with Pikachu instead of having the choice between
three pokémon. Gary is also stuck with Eevee (which evolves into
Jolteon) for the entire game, so there's a little less variety in
gameplay. Plus, the infamous Missingno. pokémon has sadly been removed
preventing you from duplicating rare candies a hundred fold. But if you
don't mind playing pokémon the honest way, then this isn't much of a
problem.

Now the question is, do you really want this game if you

already own the red and/or blue versions? If you do, the minor changes
to this version probably aren't enough to justify the purchase as it's
basically the same game. If you don't already own red or
blue, then this game is a must-have as it's the best of the three!
Besides, where else can you get Oddish and Bellsprout in the same game?

Pokemon yellow is a great game for everyone. you start out in pallet

town, receive your first Pokemon, Pikachu, meet and battle your rival, Gary, then set off. your first goal is to catch and raise Pokemon so you
can defeat the eight gym trainers and their Pokemon. your second is to
defeat the elite four, the most powerful Pokemon trainers in the
world!

Pokemon Yellow Review   Smashbros64z
Pokémon Yellow is a very good game to play and it is one of my favorite games of all time since for a game boy color game, it is very re-playable. Has overall cool graphics, cool soundtrack, addicting, a bit challenging in a good way and story is good for what it is.
Graphics: 8.4 out of 10
The graphics for the over world is random, but the Pokémon sprites in color are much better and more presentable than red and green Japanese versions. The Pokémon in this game look a lot more identical to the anise Pokémon and overall looks nice.
Sound: 9.5 out of 10
The soundtrack of this game is upbeat is awesome in which the 8-bit tracks are really catching. One only needs to listen to them to get excited.
Addictiveness :  10 out of 10
Once you just start playing this masterpiece it is hard to stop, and one may play this game for over 20+ hours untamed in one month or less. It is that addicting.
Story: 9.5 out of 10
The story is not that complex: Ash Ketchum is going on his quest to the Pokémon League to challenge the 8 Gym Leaders. The rest is for one to discover.
Depth: 10 out of 10
The depth of this game is that there is lots to do for a Game boy Color and there is plenty to keep one interested. Not much else to say, very great.
Difficulty: 8.3 of 10
The game can be DIFFICULT at the end because of the last trainers, no spoilers and all I'll say.
Overall: 9.7 out of 10
If one feels like this, play this game and one will enjoy it.
 All to say........

WALKING WITH POKEMON IS AWESOME!   Zangoose_Girl
This game is so fun! I play it for the many, many glitches, but it is still fun to play it normal. Some people think Missing Number was removed in Pokemon Yellow. But, it's still here. It's very hard to encounter without crashes though. And aside from Missing Number, there are still many other glitch Pokemon. 44HY, Q, 'M, Charizard 'M, and more. Then there's the famous Mew glitch. I may have figured out how to evolve Pikachu, too, but I'll put that in the comments or something, since some people might not want to know. Well, moving away from glitching, this is a great game. I love how Pikachu doesn't sound like a tire on gravel or something. It actually says, "Pika!"! It's very addicting, and I would recommend it to most Pokemon fans.  That's all I have to say! Bye!

Pokémon Yellow Review   Tekky7
This was undoubtedly my favorite of the
first generation Game Boy Color Pokémon games. Pokémon Yellow was
intended to be almost, if not an exact, clone of the anime series,
holding true to this by bringing back numerous key elements that were
previously not in Red, Blue, and Green. One example, Team Rocket's
Jesse and James follow you with consistency, in order to battle you
to steal Pikachu. They have changed little about their team, sure to
have Meowth in tow, along with annoying poison types, of course.
They will be quite easy, however, as long as you are at a reasonable
level. This game also introduced a key element to my enjoyment of
this game, which was re-introduced in HeartGold and SoulSilver, that
infuriated me to no end when it was not in Black, White, Platinum,
etc. I'm talking about the aspect of Pikachu following you. This
was very fun for me, I liked to talk to him and be able to see his
emotions. Another thing I loved about this game was the ability to
have all of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle on your team to
accompany Pikachu. Like I said, similar to the anime. This game
also disallowed you to evolve Pikachu into Raichu, if I do recall.
Although Brock and Misty will not join you on your adventures, you
still get the satisfaction of wiping Misty out with godly ease. This
game was quite was quite greatly put together, though, as it still
lets me enjoy the game as if I were in the anime,, but not all of it
was there. The game was still tailored to Red, Blue, and Green's
story to some extent. You didn't get every single side quest and NPC
as there is in the anime. Although this game was not an exact copy
of the anime, it still stood out to me as my favorite original
Generation I game.

Pikachu: I choose you!   Postman3
This emulation is actually better than the real thing. The reason being: I hit a major unlimited money glitch. I went in to buy Rocket Game Coins and found that I just was not running out of money. I started with maybe 70 grand in money. After buying coins about 20 times, I figured it was deja vu, but I bought a few more coins and found that I was indeed spending the same money repeatedly. Every time I bought coins with 60 grand, my money went back up to 69 grand. I filled my coin case and redeemed for Porygon. Then I went back for more. I did not dare to believe this would last long. Ultimately, I walked away with all the prizes. I am not sure if these results are typical of the Vizzed Emulator for Pokémon Yellow. Perhaps another player can shed some light on the situation.
GRAPHICS
The images of Pokémon have improved a bit. The depictions from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue were not bad. These ones are better. They paid close attention to Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander, but development even reworked more obscure ones like Mew, Onix, Chansey, Mankey, Ekans and Koffing. For that reason alone, the graphics should rate a bit higher than Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. The colors are even sharper than the ones from earlier Pokémon games. The original Game Boy had a contrast dial that screwed with every image on the screen. Since this game is for Game Boy Color, the hues are quite superior. The Pikachu-follow-me function was far ahead its time. All it took was an 8-bit game with ample programming time provided by skyrocketing pre-sales for an open-minded development team to give us a completely new way to experience Pikachu in all his cuteness. This brings me to.…
SOUND
Yes, it is a little disappointing that we cannot hear the Ikue Ootani voice for the most popular Pokémon of all. The game is still fun without it. If I require that kind of auditory satisfaction, I need only switch on my dust covered Game Boy Color. That is the only minus when the sound is valued. Pokémon Yellow on Vizzed has perfect pitch in all ways except one.
ADDICTIVENESS
When I was 13, Pokémon Yellow was the newest game on the block. I got a ride to what was then a Zellers (now a Home Depot) and purchased my own copy. My family had kept "the" Game Boy well stocked in batteries since the time Game Boy Tetris and Wheel of Fortune were in vogue. Therefore, I just played Pokémon Yellow all the time. I did not want put it down. When I should have slept, I played. When my family went to a Japanese buffet, I gamed and tried to ignore the shark meat and octopus legs. Every moment I could spare, I gave to this game. Now that I have matured, I spend less time gaming. The addictive appeal of this game is still as strong as it was. It has lost nothing. If you are not careful, you could go blind from sleep deprivation. Do not get in too deep with this game. If you are thinking of Pokémon Yellow at times you should not, do yourself a favour and take a few days off. A guide dog cannot help you log on to Vizzed and play, if you cannot see.
STORY
The plot has changed slightly from Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Red, but not that much. Professor Oak will catch Pikachu for you at the start of the game. Then, in Oak's lab, your rival will push you out of the way to "snatch" the single Poke ball on the table. He gets an Eevee, which is no match for Pikachu at first. You will encounter trainers that were not there in previous versions. Jessie and James Team Rocket show up to ambush you at various points in the game. The same trainers in Yellow Version will use different Pokémon. Lt. Surge for instance, has a Raichu like in the show. Pikachu’s presence alters dialog and events. Keep him with you for the full experience.
DEPTH and DIFFICULTY
If you were to play all the way to Mewtwo's capture, catching every available species (79) of Pokémon along the way, it might take between 60 to upwards of 200 hours to finish with a complete Pokedex. Depending on your goals, it can be very difficult or very easy to finish to your satisfaction.

Awesome Game!   drago
Pokémon Yellow Is A Great Game! It Allows You To Get Pikachu As A Starter, Your Pikachu Dislikes Pokeballs So He/She Can Follow You Wherever You Go! Every Once In A While You Should Check Your Pikachu Every Once In A While To See If Its Happy Or Sad. You Can Eventually Collect All The Starters In The Game, Bulbasaur Charmander And Squirtle! This Makes The Game Sort Of Easy Because You Can Get Grass Water And Fire.
Graphics- I Give The Graphics A Six Because They Aren't Very Good, Even For Game Boy Color! Ive Seen Better... Maybe Because I'm Used To This Generations Graphics... I'm Only 11. Some Sprites Look Nice Like Pikachu But Most Of The Others, Meh. The Overworld Sprites Are Nice Looking And Easy To Tell What Most Things Are.The Text Is Big So Its Easy To Read.
Sound- I Give An Eight Because The Sound Is Really Good! Battle Music Is Great And Really Easy To Remember. I Really Like The Gym Leader Battle Song! It Sounds Cool. Some Music Is Creepy.. Well Just One... LAVENDER TOWN! Just Gives Me Nightmares Thinking About It..
Addictiveness- I Give It A Nine, The Game Is Long And Has Alot To Offer! If You Have Any Friends With This Game You Can Battle To See Who Is The True Champion! Also Trying To Catch Em All Will Have You Coming Back To This Game More And More!
Depth- 9 Because There Are 150 Pokémon (151 If You Count Mew!) Which Makes It Really Hard To Get 100%! Also The Game Can Get A Bit Confusing Making It Even Longer For You, And Training Pokémon Is A Pain...
Difficulty- 8, For Most People It Would Be Easy But I Suck At Pokémon So Its Hard For Me! The First Rival Battle Is Hard So Get A Potion From Your PC At The Start! Also Brock Has Ground Types So Catch A Mankey!
Overall Its A 8.5 From Me!

This game is very easy , in this game you start off with a pikachu as your partner to beat all of the gym's and the elite four. Gary is your rival but he becomes the champion of the indigo league ( I wonder how ) and in blue and red version. Have fun playing this game and good luck on beating the elite four. Also if want the same  pokemon like ash try to look it up google. I forgot to tell you that the gym leaders are more stronger than red and blue and your rival starts off with a eevee.

Pika? A Special Red & Blue Remake Starring Pikachu!   ClearAsCrystal
Pokemon Yellow Review : Pika? A Special Red & Blue Remake Starring Pikachu!
{Overview}: This game has its similarities to it's processors; with one big difference: your starter is always Pikachu and your rival's starter is always Eevee. This version is basically the video game version of the original Pokemon cartoon (with Ash, Misty, and Brock). The game has been tweaked a bit to better follow the anime a little better. Unfortunately, Brock and Misty will not be joining you on your journey like in the anime; so the game does not exactly mirror the storyline word per word. This is not much a problem, it could not be done (having two other sprites trail behind you). It would take too much work if the developers payed attention to every little detail. Only really major changes were focused on.
{Graphics}: To a modern gamer the graphics will seem unsatisfactory, however, these graphics are very well up to par with game boy color graphics. They ate also one of the many contributors to nostalgia to now-grown-up Pokemon fans. The little addition of having a little Pikachu sprite trail behind you in this special edition is also well done. As well as pikachu's status feeble much he cares for you, the trainer, and whether he is happy with you or not.
{Sound}: The sounds in the game are classic and you may sometimes catch yourself humming these tunes long after you've turned off the game. These are yet another part of the reason this game is full of nostalgia.
{Replay Value}: Due to there being 151 Pokemon that you can catch or trade and that you only can have six Pokemon in your party, this game gives high replay value due to multiple strategies to use different combinations of Pokemon to beat the game as well as rebattling previous trainers over again.
{Story}:
The story in this game is the same as every other Pokemon game - You start out in your hometown (In this case Pallet Town) and earn all of the badges in the specified region by defeating all the gym leaders and face the elite four and champion. The earlier generation 1 focuses more on the "gotta catch them all!" catchphrase as well.
{Difficulty}:
The controls for this game are simple - use the control pad to move your character through the world as well as to select your decision in battle (attack, use an item, or flee) you can also run with B (with the running shoes) and access the menu with start. Your registered (or "hot keyed") item is also accessed via the select button. This game can be fairly challenging, however, as long as you battle every trainer you come across and choose the right Pokemon, it can turn out do be a cakewalk.

Pokemon Yellow Review   metroidhunter72
The pokemon series is one of my favorite video game series of all time, second only to metroid. I have been playing it for as long as I can remember, and it always reminds me of my childhood.
Graphics: 8
Pokemon games are the most popular games on the game boy without a doubt. One of the things that makes the games enjoyable is the graphics. In Red and Blue, the graphics are good, but some of the sprites are wrong and are hard to decipher what they are. In Yellow, however, they fixed a lot of the sprites, improving the game even more.
Sound: 9
The music in this game is great. If you have ever played a pokemon game, you have probably gotten a song from it stuck in your head multiple times. Whether it be Viridian City's theme, or Route 1, the songs are very memorable. There is also the creepy-ass Lavender Town theme, which really fits the mood of the town (hence it being basically a giant graveyard).
Addictiveness: 7
I can play this game all day, but it isn't the kind of game that sucks you in and won't let you escape from its grasp when you start it up. It gets boring training your pokemon after a while, so you might save the game and set it down to play later.
Story: 7
Unlike most pokemon remakes (Crystal, Emerald, Platinum), this game really doesn't change the story much at all from Red and Blue. The only difference I can see is that you start with a pikachu, and your rival starts with an Eevee. There are also pokemon that aren't obtainable in the other games, like the 3 original starters are all able to get in one game.
Depth: 9
The world of Kanto is huge, with many places to explore. The caves are like mazes, with lots of stuff to discover every time you go in them. If you look around enough, you can catch rare legendary pokemon like Arcticuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo. They are normally found in the depths of caves, which are filled with strong pokemon. The towns are fun to look around in, with places like the Museum in Pewter City and the Department store and Game Corner in Celadon.
Overall: 9.8
This is in my list of top 10 games, and it is great for new players. It might not be the greatest game in the series, but I would probably recommend it to someone who wanted to play pokemon for the first time. I would give it a 10, but it is not perfect, so it gets a 9.8.

Pokemon Yellow Version Review   XxEzraxX
One of the late and greats, Pokémon Yellow Version. This version came out a few years after Red and Blue here in America took off, and also a few years after Red and Green in Japan (Blue also was released a few years later in Japan Green is our Blue). What can I say about this fantastic game that everyone else hasn't already? This game was designed for the audience to play more like the anime, however it was still more manga based the only real differences were that now Pikachu is your only starter Pokémon and when you select your name you will notice that Ash is on the list and for your rival Gary is on the list.
Now the game play, this game is exactly like Red and Blue version when it comes to game play. There are new sprites for Pokémon however, and they look more updated and have a more closer feel to the Pokémon then earlier version did. Certain glitches no longer work correctly in an attempt from Gamefreak and Nintendo to try to get rid of any bugs they may have put into the game, for example if you try to access Missingno. your game may freeze and you will have to reset the Rom. However, the Mew glitch is still in the game.
A few things that you can do in the game, that a few people don't know; if you jump over a ledge and don't move (do not let Pikachu jump with you) after a few seconds or maybe a minute goes by Pikachu will start to do a little dance, also at the beginning of the game if you turn to Pikachu and press the A button, you will notice Pikachu doesn't really care to highly of you. Well, you can fix that, open your menu and your bag use a potion on it repeatedly even though it has full health. After doing that about a million times if you turn to Pikachu and press A now he will suddenly like/love you at one point he will even jump around and shoot hearts from his head.
Now onward to my ratings of this game, this game got a 10 from me. It is directly from my childhood and it was an amazing game especially for it being just a tiny bit different than the original 2 (3 in Japan). The graphics, sound and the addictiveness of the game got straight 10s as well. The overworld graphics are the same as Red and Blue, but as for the Pokémon Sprites they where changed and I must say they look a lot better in my opinion. The sound remained the same in Yellow as it did the originals, and we all know that Pokémon music was just the best. Pokémon music = great time! And as for the addictiveness, you play this game and tell me how long you have been playing it and why. I bet you will admit to it being one of the greatest games you have ever played, and it is amazing because it is only a regular game boy game.
The depth and the difficulty of the game I gave both a 5, because like the original games it really wasn't that hard or that long of a game. Yet somehow it was an amazing game to play, and everyone should love and appreciate it.

the graphics were great at the time it has unforgettable places and music and Pokemon were unforgettable i thought that the gimic of pikachu following you around which was later used in Pokemon heart gold and soul silver and plus they included Jessie and James from the anime and this game had a major update from the red and blue games it is so cool that you can get all the original starters and another cool thing is that chansey is actually at the Pokemon centers an d I loved that the story line changed a bit like Gary having a evee and how team rocket uses mostly weezing and arboks. Over all i give this game 10 out of 10 for giving pokemon games in the futures ideas to bring back and that is what i think of pokemon yellow

This game takes me back to a boy when I first started playing video games. You can experience in different ways as you unravel the story. If you enjoy a game where you create friends and embark on adventures this game might be the one for you. It is loosely based on the original Pokémon series.
The journey starts in Pallet Town where you get your first Pokémon. Along the way you can capture, fight, or run from your enemy. Face gym leaders to have the ability to reach the final area to face the four elite trainers. Catch the rarest of the Pokémon including Mew, Mewtwo, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. Train your Pokémon to become the best ,and if you train them hard enough watch as they evolve. The only Pokémon you cant catch on this fun-filled adventure are Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Ekans, Arbok, Koffing, Weezing, Meowth, Persian, Raichu, Jynx, Electabuzz, and Magmar , but that is out of the 151 Pokémon in the original series.
In the game you must trade certain Pokémon in order for them to evolve unfortunately  you can not yet do this on computer. This game is a good game for beginners for the controls are simple. It is a must have for the ultimate Pokémon fan.

This Role Playing Game is based off of the Pokemon manga series. It is the third out of the three original Pokemon RPG games. In the game the player starts out as Yellow (although not a girl for any of those who have read the manga)and the character has just reached the age to go out and attempt to become the Pokemon master. The basis of the game consists of the player catching and leveling different monsters represented by spirits called Pokemon. The player must catch and or obtain Pokemon and level them up in order to progress through the storyline. In order to level up the player must make opposing Pokemon faint and gain "experience" for the player's Pokemon. The Pokemon have a "Hit Point" system in which if the bar reaches "0" they are knocked out, but do not die. The Pokemon "faint" and can be revived through a Pokemon center, other characters,or items obtained in the game. The main noticeable difference between this game and Red/Blue versions is that the player is not able to choose his starting Pokemon. In stead he is given a Pikachu in which the Pokemon follows the player everywhere he goes throughout the game. The player can click on his Pokemon at different situations and receive a different facial expression and cry. The player can also choose to put the Pokemon in the box if he does not like the stalking attitude. Pikachu cannot be evolved until later into the game and if evolved into its bettered version it does not follow the player around anymore. This game from personal experience is a bit harder to play especially in the beginning as you do not get the choice of a water Pokemon to combat the first rock-type Gym. Pikachu does not begin as strong as some of the starter Pokemon in the former games. This can be a problem because the player's choices can be limited until later in the game and it can be a turn off if the game starts out too hard. I recommend this game to a die-hard Pokemon fan that has already had some Pokemon rpg experience.

Pokemon Yellow   marcus047
Well here it is the 3rd installment of the Pokémon franchise released in America( 4th installment of the Pokémon franchise in Japan). This game offers players the chance to take on the identity of Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchem, and play through the game with pikachu(which by the way will not evolve into raichu) and get all the Kanto starters the exact same way Ash did in the anime. This is defiantly the best game of its time that came out for the Game Boy, its different from Green, Red, Blue by the fact that Pokémon from all three games are all in this one game. Pikachu in this does in fact like in the anime is outside the ball and walks around with you which only added to the games fun so enjoy!
Graphics I gave a 10 out of 10, because the animations and design are at its peak for its time, its goes above and beyond what you would expect from a graphics on a Game Boy platform/system.
Sound I gave a 9 out of 10, because yellow didn't have its own soundtrack made just for this version, its the same music from Green, Red, Blue versions, which can be annoying after a while to listen to.
Addictiveness: I gave a 10 out of 10, because I personally will always enjoy this game( I still have the actual cartilage of this game) , this game is the Ash Ketchem's adventure to the T, there's really nothing else like it so it will always have a very appealing, very enjoyable high replay value in my opinion.
Story: I gave a 9 out of 10, because its basically the same story as Green, Red, and Blue but with a few good trainer's,gym leaders, and elite 4 Pokémon  changes, along with level changes, and what Pokémon appear in the wild.
Depth: I gave a 8 out of 10, because the games the same length as its previous installments (Green, Red, and Blue), but it has its perks like you can still do the mew hack in it, pikachu walks around with you. The game doesn't really take that long to beat i estimate a game play time of  about maybe 4-5 days if your taking your time and with out the speed button.
Difficulty: I gave 7 out of 10, because to be honest the games not very hard at all. By allowing you to get all the Kanto starters, it makes  making a well balanced team is quite easy. The A.I.'s in the game seem kinda better/more challenging but can still be easily  over come if you have type advantage( levels don't really count for much in this).
Overall: I gave this game a 9.5 out of 10, because its unique and automatically a classic in my opinion. this really shows off Gamefreaks abilities to make a quality game that fans of the pokemon franchise will always remember and be thankful for. I recommend this game as a starting game for anyone new to the series, and basically anyone who wants to play through the Ash adventure like it was originally suppose to be.

Special Edition   Crona_1
Sorry if my overall rating appears to be low considering this is the best Gameboy game to many, it is to me. Pikachu literally saying pikachu in battle, when you interact, etc...was a pretty big part of this game for me because this is the ONLY Pokémon game with a Pokémon that actually says it's name. It added to the "specialness". I don't know if it's some kind of loading error but pikachu fails to
say his name or even make his noise, it's kind of just a
blurry noise.Still a great game and if you abused your yellow since the day it was released and it moved on to the video game afterlife (like me) then this is the place to go for your fix. Other than some minor glitches like pikachu's voice (not so minor to me but most probably don't mind), this is just like the physical game. May pikachu watch over you, pokefans.

My favorite game out of the Pokemon Series   PD Man
My Cousin, who I introduced to Pokémon about 4 years ago says that this game was boring compared to the newer DS games. But this was MY game,I played this non stop when I was little, not thinking about the future. This was the best game I had out of all the other games from this generation. She says this game was boring but this game was the shiz! This was the game you'd bring to school and play with your friends,it was all retro! This game was the kind of game you'd actually work Ur young life on. Completing your Pokedex would be the biggest accomplishment you could ever make,it would give u bragging rights,it will make u the envy of your friends,it'll do a lot. Though this game is glitchy,it is still fun to play and complete! This game had suspense,it had epic times, and it required skills! Anyone who grew up around this generation is a true Pokémon fan. Even if you gave up in the future series, you'd still love playing the old Pokémon games. This introduced a Pokémon following u around, which is probably the whole idea for HeartGold and SoulSilver's feature. This game had secrets, fun, and the ability to brag at your friends at school! This was my very first Pokémon game,as my two brothers got Red and Blue, respectively. Pikachu was da bomb! Though the new games have more features,Wi-Fi connections, and more activities, but nothing will come close to what made Pokémon what it is today!

Awesome game   pooplolpoop
This game is really fun I gave the sound a nine because when pikachu says its name its really weird. The story is good but its the same as pokemon red or blue except that you get all the starters and start with a pikachu. The difficulty was rated 7 because the story is over used but its still really fun and it still takes time to level up the pokemon so its a really good game its picture is better than pokemon red or blue the pidgey looks more like it came from the show in pokemon yellow than pokemon red or blue. So other than that its a great game

Pokemon Yellow Review   tgags123
Overall (9)
Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition is a great game, especially considering the time it was made. It was made to be more similar to the anime than Red and Blue (Green in Japan). Your starter Pokemon is Pikachu (based off of the anime show). You also have a chance to get the three regular starters, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle (like Ash does in the anime).
Graphics (7)
You may look at this game now and say "Man these graphics suck!", but you have to remember it was released in 1999. It was the first Pokemon game in color. Although the colors are rather random at times, it was pretty darn good when at the time it was made. Some of the sprites were re-done from Red and Blue to fit how the characters look in the anime. When viewing your party, Pokemon of the same body type have the same picture next to their name.
Sound (6)
The sound effects and music in Pokemon Yellow are generally high pitched and rather annoying. The infamous Lavender Town music was changed slightly from Red, Blue, and Green, so that it doesn't cause people to get Lavender Town Syndrome (headaches), but it is still annoying. I usually play this game with the sound off. I personally don't like the sound effects and music, but that's my opinion.
Addictiveness (9)
I usually find addictiveness by this formula: fun + depth / 2 = addictiveness. (I know what you're thinking. "Oh this guy is such a nerd he came up with his own formula to find addictiveness). Anyway, I rate the fun 10, and the depth 8. Therefore, the addictiveness is 9. I find this game to be highly addictive. It is very difficult to stop playing. You will not want to stop until you do everything there is to do.
Story (9)
This game features the classic Pokemon story, with a little bit changed to be more like the anime. You travel around the Kanto region on the quest to be the very best, like no one ever was. You stop at each city to challenge the gym. If you beat the gym leader you earn a badge. Once you get all eight gym badges, you can challenge the Pokemon League. If you win, you become the Pokemon Champion. Of course, every story has a bad guy. There is an evil corporation known as Team Rocket. Team Rocket's goal is to obtain rare and powerful Pokemon, mainly by stealing them, and take over the world. You encounter Team Rocket at certain points in the game, and attempt to thwart their plans. Eventually you battle the leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni. If you defeat him you disband Team Rocket and save the world!
Depth (8)
There is a lot of things to do in Pokemon Yellow. Aside from challenging gyms (and the Pokemon League) and battling Team Rocket, you can do a lot more. A few things you can do is catch the three legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres), catch the all-powerful Mewtwo, obtain the three regular starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle), obtain Mew via the glitch (more info at the bottom of the review), and a lot more.
Difficulty (6)
Pokemon Yellow, and most Pokemon games, are rather easy. Some parts of it are difficult, but it is easy for the most part. If you are looking to challenge yourself, you should probably avoid Pokemon altogether.
Pokemon Yellow is a game that I strongly recommend. It is the first Pokemon game in color. It is a very addictive game with a lot to do, the music and sound effects are annoying, but you could always play the game on mute. It is the classic Pokemon story, only with some changes based off of the anime. It is a unique game because Pikachu is your starter, and you can catch Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
Here's the information about the Mew glitch, as promised:
There are actually 3 methods to get Mew in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow.

Pokemon Yellow The shocking Twist   koraza
Hi everyone The shocking twist is that you start with pikachu as your starter and this was my 1st Pokémon game I have every played back as a little 6 year old So am gonna do a lot more of a official review because my nostalgia blinders are to big for this game well Here we go.
1st why I rated it what I rated.
9 over all as for the Pokémon games it was the best of the originals ones and one of the best games for the Plain >Game Boy< if you even remember that old thing.
Graphics 10 because they even changed the graphics to be more like the tv show for fans that didn't like how it was done in the 1st games. Also great for the 1st Game Boy ever.
Sound 10 Lets be honest everyone still plays Pokémon and we all have that one town or building or place or route with that tune we just stopped and listen to and still do to this day I mean the music in lavender town has more on it alone then the Harry potter books.
Addictiveness 10 Its Pokémon we still playing x and y and we are still playing Pokémon yellow For a new copy of the real game goes for over 300$ easy we are addicted to Pokémon worse then anything else.
Story Most i give a 3 but yellow added little parts from the T.V. show making it little better and for fans did a lot to not beat team rocket but Jessy and James themselves as ash him self.
Depth 3 short from becoming the very best their every was or glitches that i wouldn't count because their mistakes theirs only the 151 to get unlike the 700+ from new games and for 100% the game was still fairly short.
Difficulty i give the other games a 3 even for new comers or kids but this game was harder simple as you had no good starter for the 1st gym which make the start of the game so hard and you over leveled so hard that the rest of the game was so easy so 10 for the 1st 2 hours then 1 for the next 10 hours. so solid 5

Now the game it's self.
Pokemon Yellow Version (Special Pikachu Edition)(aka the best) is set in the Kanto Region, just like the games before it Red, Blue, and Green. The game play is just about exactly the same, with the player starting out in Pallet Town in your little house with mom, but their are some slight changes. For instance, Jesse and James replace many of the Team Rocket Grunts normally found in the region, and the Pokemon they are using cannot be found in the game as it is not likely that Ash would catch any of them.(making the friends and link cable a must have with yellow if you really wanted to catch them all, also mew isn't a glitch anymore and you can get him fair and square) Strangely, the Team Rocket duo Jessy and James is never actually mentioned by name(for the life of me i couldn't find out why sorry guys). Several Pokemon that were in other versions are also not available in Yellow and can only be acquired by Trade with another cartridge. So sorry vizzed players you won't be able to do it without the hardware. The battle mechanics are the same, but the animations themselves have changed to be more like the anime due to people complaining that the Red, Blue, and Green sprites didn't look enough like the Pokemon from the show. The aesthetic changes don't stop there.(remember when nintendo wanted $ and cared for the user lol) Some trainers and parts of the region of the map have changed slightly, and Cerulean Cave has undergone a major layout change much welcomed changed if you ask me. (don't worry, Mewtwo is still there I assure you Go master-ball). As it is based more on the anime the starting characters default names are, of course, Ash and Gary. The storyline follows most of the same path of the previous games with a few small changes here and there nothing to special just a nice touch. An example of this being the "Walking Pokemon" feature that was later implemented in HeartGold and SoulSilver. (i personally loved this by the way i wish all the games did it.) This feature enables your Pikachu partner to walk around with you. Unlike in Red, Blue, and Green, the player does not get the chance to pick a starter and is forced to take Pikachu while the rival gets an Eevee (which eventually evolves into either Jolteon, Flareon, or Vaporeon depending on the player's actions early in the game). The usual starters are available later in the game. They also added in a different sound byte for Pikachu's voice. Instead of it's usual cry, the Pokemon speaks as though it is in the anime, using phrases like "Pika!" and "Chaaaaa!".(I'll put more about this in the end) The game is overall a good play, but the first gym battle can be a big pain if Pikachu ends up being your strongest Pokemon. Unless you cheat or go through a ridiculous amount of Wild Pokemon battles, the only real way to beat Brock's Rock Types is to use Double Team until it runs out and then use Struggle when Pikachu runs out of moves (Tackle and Quick Attack don't deal much damage to Rock Types it also doesn't help that you can't get a light-ball without trading it over from one of the other games also). After beating Brock, the game gets considerably easier as you catch more Pokemon of different Types and gain the normal Starter Pokemon. You have to be careful to remember that this is the original Kanto though. Steel and Dark Types haven't been created yet and the ability Levitate doesn't exist so it's nice to be able to crush Magnemite and Magneton with Dig. Also, as you play you'll probably run into the Evolution stones at the Celadon Department store. This would be cool, if it weren't for the fact that the game is based off the anime. Yes, your normal starter's can evolve (unlike Ash's Pokemon), but since Pikachu never evolved in the anime the game was programmed so that Pikachu will never evolve here either. (Though to be honest if i get a pikachu in a game i give him a ever-stone lets be honest) So really, unless you have an Eevee, the Thunderstones are a useless add on and a waste of money. Another big bummer is that no other Pikachu show up in the game. In other words, there are no wild Pikachu. The only way to get another Pikachu is by trading with Red, Blue, Green, or another Yellow cartridge via the Game Link Cable (which can be hard to find these days and this is as i was saying before the only way to get a light ball without cheating it in as if that 10% chance to fight a pikachu and a 10% chance to catch it and a 10% chance it will have a light-ball all i can say is Good Luck). Also, some of the Gym Leader Pokemon have been switched so if you were thinking you'd be facing the same old Pokemon, think again. The Gym Leaders themselves are the same however, with Brock (Rock Type), Misty (Water Type), Lt. Surge (Electric Type and only soild link to the huge myths about the Pokemon world war), Erika (Grass Type), Koga (Poison Type) Sabrina (Psychic Type), Blaine (Fire Type), and Giovanni (Ground Type). The Elite 4 are also the same with Lorelei (Ice Type), Bruno (Fighting Type), Agatha (Ghost Type), and Lance (Dragon Type). The Champion still ends up being your rival too(Gray). The game requires that you play around with TM's and HM's a little more as the Pokemon that can use them have changed, for instance Charizard can now use Fly(Thank you). Several glitch Pokemon are now gone (since the programmers found their glitches*cough cough* alone with 1000's of gamers) so any glitches you know from Red, Blue, and Green are obsolete(and why mew was added the right way). There are still a few entertaining, but useless glitches left. The game is the first in the series to employ a Friendship System that was later adapted for special Pokemon in Gold, Silver, Crystal,(An example would be espeons and umbreons) and really all subsequent Generations. Pikachu will respond to your actions and your wins and losses because of this. There is a special cheat that you can use to make Pikachu instantly like you though, not that it has that much of an effect on the gameplay (it does make Pikachu look cute faster though and eliminates the annoying angry noises it makes when it dislikes you). A minigame was programmed into the cartridge ad well. The game is called Pikachu's Beach and can only be accessed by teaching Pikachu Surf when connected to the Pokemon Stadium Nintendo 64 game cartridge from the system's controller.
Thanks for reading and here as promised is some more details about pikachu language

What we have here is part 3 of the first generation Pokémon games called Pokémon Yellow:Special Pikachu Edition. It was released back on October 18, 1999. In Japan this game is simply known as Pokémon Yellow.releeased there September 12, 1998. Compared to Red and Blue Yellow plays more close to the first Pokémon anime series. What does that mean? It means that instead on choosing between Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur you instead start out with Pikachu. But don't worry if your a fan of those 3, you can get them later on in the game. Also means that the location of certain Pokémon have been switched around and certain Pokémon learn certain moves earlier. Also means the key Team Rocket members Jesse and James ( yeah its a reference to Old West outlaw Jesse James) will show up at certain points in the game and challenge you to battle. Normally its when you've basically gone through a cave like say Rock Tunnel or after you gone through the Team Rocket hide out and all or close to all your Pokémon are exhausted.
Growing up this is the first Game boy game I ever owned. In fact I still have that same copy today and its what I used to help me write out this review. Playing through the game again I was filled with fond memories of reliving my childhood. I will say that this version is a little more harder then the first 2 versions, but more on that in a moment when I get to the actual review part.
Difficulty 8: I put the difficulty of the game as an 8. Why that high? Mainly due to the fact that it plays more like the show compared to Red and Blue. Meaning that just like the show Jesse and James show up when you least expect them to and your team might not 100% to take them on. And because of that, could cause problems for you.
Depth 9: This game is just as in depth as Red and Blue. Collecting Gym Badges to catching and evolving Pokémon the game never feels stale. And to me that's a really great thing.
Story 9: Compared to the first 2 versions the story this time has a few key changes. For the most part the main part remains the same. You still start out in Pallet Town in the Kanto region. But unlike Red and Blue this time you start out with Pikachu in stead of Charmander Squirtle and Bulbasaur. Later on in the story you have the opportunity to be given the first 3 starters. Other story changes this time also include the addition on Jesse and James. They pop up from time to time and challenge you to a fight. Also different is Pikachu's refusal to evolve into Raichu. So through out the game you are stuck Pikachu. Also taken from the show are Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny, Jesse. And James who all look like their shows counterparts..
Addictiveness 10: Just like Red and Blue this game is highly addictive. Not once to I ever get bored playing Pokémon Yellow. I have played it a lot ever since I was a kid and not once did ever get bored of it. Even now going back and playing it as an adult I still highly enjoy it as it fills me fond memories. They are the same memories that I am glad I still have today as an adult.
Sound 10:  The game sounds amazing! Not once did I ever get tired of hearing the same music over and over again. In fact there were a few times I found myself whistling along with some of the music. I just wish I could get a soundtrack of the game. If so then I could listen to it all the time. The music is that good.

Graphics 10: the Graphics this time have been pulled right from the anime. And because of that they look so much better then Red and Blue. Not once did I hate looking at the game. Despite the game being over a decade old it still looks amazing and holds up extremely well.
Overall 9.3 Overall my rating is 9.3. Why I rated the game that way comes down to a few things. Firstly the main thing is that its tied to the show. A little to closely tied in my opinion. Secondly is I felt that Jesse and James showed up more times then I would have liked. And lastly is a big one for me. And that is Pikachu does not evolve at all in the game. The main reason I give a nod to Red and Blue in the sense is cause in those version he does evolve into the far better Raichu.

Final Thoughts: My final thoughts on the game are even though it is closely based on the show it is still worth playing. Its a lot of despite the fact Pikachu doesn't evolve and you get the 3 main starters later on it is still a fun game to kill a few hours on. I recommend playing it.

Pokemon Yellow - Still the Wonderful after years   Kevinmonitor
Hello everyone, my name's Kevin!
Ah, the Pokemon series. It never fails to entertain us. whether it be on our Game Boy, our Game Boy Advance, and even the Nintendo DS! In fact, I'll love to spend hours and hours, playing any Pokemon game, and of course, catching 'em all! You guessed it right, today, I'm going to make a review of POKEMON YELLOW!
POKEMON YELLOW
is the successor to the other two games, which are also the very first games of the Pokemon Series : POKEMON BLUE and POKEMON RED. Though it's been years, but the game, as well as this whole first generation has been entertaining us as kids, and also right now, we might be still keeping a Game Boy Color(or an emulator like here...) in our home, with these games! POKEMON YELLOW has entertained me for more than 30 hours since the day I played, and though I haven't completed the game yet, I can't resist the urge to write a review. Now, ONWARDS!!
GRAPHICS : 8
The graphics are exactly what you would expect from a Game Boy Color - the simple, retro look of the game itself. Yet, the graphics never make you bored, as the colors always changes - from Blue to Green, from Green to Yellow, ... depending on which location you are. I think the graphics are well done, yet they still keep the simplicity of the Game Boy graphics.
SOUND/MUSIC : 8
The music and sound ratings differ from each person's perspective. But I, I think the music and sound is brilliant, yet very 8-bit like. The cheerful tunes go everywhere with you, in every town(please don't talk about Lavender Town) and every step you walk. The music is always repeatedly changing, so you will never get bored of some tunes repeating again and again. I find the cries of Pokemon very nice and fun, sometimes I go in the PokeDex just to listen to their cries! Don't diss the retro, 8-bit music, I tell you!
ADDICTIVENESS : 9
What, you think you could really catch 'em all in one go? Maybe it's possible to get them all in one try, but it's still fun to explore around, and use your Pokemon to fight others, and also catch, especially if it's a rare! Sometimes, you finish a Pokemon game, relieved and happy, but yet you just can't resist taking your Game Boy/Game Boy Color and load the catridge in(or come back here), then play again just to experiment new things(and attempt glitches, if you like them..). I myself think that as well. It's extremely addictive, a real fanatic might spend over 50-80 hours!
STORY : 7
The story is pretty cookie-cutter - Like the other games, you're setting on an adventure, capturing Pokemon and fight your way to the top, fighting trainers, gym leaders, then the elite Four and finally, the Pokemon League champion. But it has changed a little - Instead of picking your own starter Pokemon like the other games, Oak catches a Pokemon and gives it to you, though he planned to give you another, but all of a sudden your rival takes it. Considering that? was a rare Pokemon in the other games, this is very cool. And you encounter Team Rocket(the team rocket you see in the anime, yeah?) when going for boss battles. The story did have changes, but it could use more tweaking.
DEPTH : 10
This goes on without saying. Think of it. This game has 151 Pokemon - You heard it right - One hundred and fifty one. So absolutely, catching' em all is.. TIME CONSUMING. Very time consuming. But the bad thing is, you can't catch' em all on an emulator, as some Pokemon need to be traded from two separate games - from two different Game Boy colors with a link cable. So you need a friend who plays this game as well so you can trade Pokemon with each other(or buy two Game Boy Colors and a link cable yourself). Yet Vizzed means playing on an emulator. So.. it's impossible to catch all Pokemon. BUT, the game still has A LOT else to offer. So many items, so many trainers to fight, so many locations to walk around, so many... The game is HUGE, and you'll have to spend lots of time if you're planning to fill up your PokeDex and fighting all the trainers. Yet, this depth just brings you more, and more enjoyment to play. If you don't want to play time-consuming games, then don't play this.
DIFFICULTY : 7
It's not easy, but not that hard, just probably Medium-Hard or so. This difficulty offers both a challenge and yet enjoyment and fun. You try to catch Pokemon and fight to train them, and you fight Trainers, and Gym Leaders, but for each trainer you beat, for each gym leader you beat, the game just gets harder and harder, offering bigger challenges to the players. But the difficulty is not too hard or almost impossible - That would mean less fun. It is perfectly balanced but you need to have strategies to make your way to Elite 4 and Pokemon League champion, and ultimately beat the game.
OVERALL : 9
No matter what, POKEMON YELLOW, it's predecessor, and (probably) every game in the legendary Pokemon series will never disappoint anyone. I hope everyone will love and get used to the cute, tough and smart Pokemon, and I'm sure, though time passes, Pokemon will always stay to entertain every generation.
THANK YOU FOR READING MY REVIEW. :)

Pokemon Yellow... Ah Nostalgia   zoepeace0359
Pokémon Yellow
For the GameBoy (gb) or the GameBoy Color (gbc)
In 1998, Nintendo teamed up with a small company called Game Freak... Most of us hadn't heard of this company, and wondered why Nintendo partnered up with them.  They released a game, well more like two games, called Pokémon Red, and Pokémon Blue.  A little over a year later, another game called Pokémon Yellow was released.  They said the game was different.  Personally, when I saw this game, I thought to myself, how can this be different.  This game, while it doesn't have major changes, they are still present and enhance the game majorly.  The changes will be explained in the Overall section (the last section).
*Please Note*
While writing this review, I tried my hardest to strip all Nostalgia from my brain to write a non-biased review.  I am considered a "gen onner", but not as bad as some.   While I grew up with this series (my first game was Pokémon Blue), and my first let's play was Pokémon FireRed, I believe the first gen has some flaws, but I accept these flaws instead of proving them wrong like some.  But hey!  I'm not here to go on about nostalgia, I'm here to write a review... a very detailed review.
Graphics - 9
For this system, the graphics, being the same for regular Pokémon Blue and other Pokémon games on this console, were very impressive for such primitive graphic capabilities and cartridge space.  Each Pokémon has an individual sprite, some have over world sprites such as Bulbasaur in Cerulean City, and Pikachu following you around the whole game (unless it has fainted or you don't have it in your party).
Speaking of  Pikachu has multiple reactions that were programmed in just for Pokémon Yellow.  The gym leaders and elite four each have different sprites, and the rival has different poses for almost every battle.  Not to mention since it is Pokémon Yellow, there is a Surfing mini game, which has very nice graphics.  With the inclusion of Rocket (better known as Jessie and James from the Anime)  to battle every now and then, the game has not only the Team Rocket Grunt sprites, but now they included over world sprites for Jessie and James as well as battle sprites.  (When fighting them, I was disappointed that Meowth wasn't any special. I would have loved if he would have at least been in the battle sprite with Rocket)   Overall, the graphics really were phenomenal for this generation, and they pushed the limitations set on the games.  The graphics are probably the best thing about the first Generation games, yes the sprites looked weird but they needed something to go off of to enhance the sprites.  At this point in the Franchises life, there was no where to go but up.
Sound - 7
I compared the sound for this game to other games on the GameBoy and GameBoy Color that I had not played before.  I have played a few games on this system, and from the ones I played, the Pokémon ones seemed the surpass the others on sound.  However, after I looked up a few games (I simply YouTubed Gameboy soundtrack and clicked on a few links), which I compared this game to Megaman II, Batman, and Street Fighter (the first 3 links I found that were not reviews)  the sounds were Mediocre at best.  The opening song that is playing when you first turn the system on brings back so many memories, and for a new player it makes you feel like something amazing is about to happen, and you are about to embark on this grand adventure with amazing upbeat music.  Then next song, which was Pallet Town theme, brought me back to reality.  It was calm and after the opening music, made me feel like it wasn't going to be that awesome of an adventure.  I remember when I first played Blue for the first time and heard that music, 5 year old me turned off the GameBoy and I didn't touch the game for a few hours (which as a little kid seemed forever).  Anyway, I'm not going to go through all the sound tracks and criticize or praise them, that would take too long.
Lets skip to the battle music, since that is what majority of the game consists of.  There are many different battle themes.  Just to name a few there are the Wild Battle Theme, Rival Battle Theme, Gym Battle Theme, and Elite Four Battle Theme.  The Wild Battle Theme is probably going to be the most commonly heard, which makes you appreciate the other battle themes more.  Trust me I was so glad when I got to fight a trainer or a gym leader so I would have a change of music.  First, when you hear the iconic pre-battle flashes (that's what I call them) for the first time, you don't know what to expect.  I thought my game was broken the first time I played it (I might have cried because I had liked the game so far... aside from the Pallet Town theme).  Anyway, the wild Pokémon music gave me a sense that this was what the game was about, because I liked the different battle music the best.  The gym leader music defines the situation the player is in.  The music is very fast paced, and intensifies the battle.  Personally, my favorite music is the Elite Four Theme.  It is very upbeat, and motivates the player to try their best and beat the Elite Four.
There are also different locations that have music that fit to a tee.  From the horrorifying yet catchy Lavender Town music to the serene music of Cerulean City.  Even the music for Saffron City makes you feel like you are in a city because it just reminds the player of the surroundings.
Overall, the music, while fitting in most locations, is very subpar when compared to the music from other games on the system.
Addictiveness - 10
Pokémon is very near and dear to my heart.  However I, like most gamers, (well more like people in general) have cravings.  Sometimes I have cravings for some video games.  Pokémon is one of them.  While I have beat this game countless times, I have to be craving the game.  I can't really rate this, because I have learned that I don't have an addictive personality.  I am rating this a 10 because I have bought almost every game in the franchise, but I think that's just love for the franchise.
Story - 9
For 6 year old me (I got Blue when I was 5 and this when I was 6),  who grew up watching the show and wanting a game that had Pikachu following you around, having this game was such a joy!  Yes I, like many other fans, named their character Ash and the rival Gary.   However, I did wish that Misty and Brock would follow you around. (I was really let down when I beat Brock and he simply stayed there)  I loved fighting Rocket.  Although it loosely followed the anime, I still loved every minute of it.  There were times that I was glad it wasn't exactly like the anime however.  For example, you can evolve all of the starters (but I must admit I felt really bad about evolving Bulbasaur and Squirtle), and when you do evolve Charmander, you don't have to worry about it disobeying you!  It will listen to everything you say! You don't have to release Butterfree to find it's mate (which was the saddest moment of my childhood).  You can have a whole team of legendaries if you want to!  "Oh Lance I like that dragon team you have, but say hello to my little friend Articuno!!"  Last but certainly not least, and  trust me it's defiantly not least.  In fact, it's probably the best thing... Anyway, the best thing about it not being just like the anime is it's not programmed for you to lose the gym battles/ elite four!  Finally, I can just go in, wreck everything, and move on without having to stop and do side quests!
Overall, I give the story a 9.  Even though I love this story, and it gives me so many good memories as I played through it, it's not perfect.  There were things it could improve on, because after all, it is the first generation.  The test monkey.
Depth - 9
This was very hard for me to write about.  I have divided this into 2 parts.  The first part being how much the game offers, and the second is how deep the plot is on an emotional level.
Part 1:  The game offers quite a lot.  You battle through 8 gym leaders, the elite four, and a Champion (I won't reveal it for those who haven't played the game).  There are a fair amount of dungeons, better known as caves, the S.S Anne, etc.  However, if you catch Pokémon along the way you will be rewarded with various items, 10 Pokémon are the minimum that you have to catch (well you technically don't have to, but the reward makes a dungeon near impossible to go through without it).  Your Pokémon level up by battling trainers and wild Pokémon (trainers Pokémon give more experience), and their base stats will go up.  Occasionally, they will learn moves as they level up, but you can only learn a maximum of 4 moves in your move set. On your journey you will come across items called TMs (or Technical Machines).  There are 50 in the game, and only the ones that can be won in the casino and the department store.  Collecting all of them and all of the Pokémon on your journey can leave the player for hours of experience. (that is if you don't Google the locations of the TMs) I am still missing a few TMs, and I have over 50 hours on my file.  However, if you just do the bare minimum such as battle only the required trainers, catch only the ones you want for your team, and speed through it, you can easily finish the game in about 8 hours.
Part 2:  Before the release of Pokémon, RPGs had a very basic formula.  They were very heavily story based with you fighting against evil because you are probably the "destined one".  Pokémon comes around and says "Forget you guys!" Instead of focusing heavily on story, they go with the bare minimum.  Yes, the story gets better in the future generations, but this review is simply for first generation.  As for this generation, the depth is lacking.  The character has no connection with the evil group.  Yes, they fight them, but they fight them because that's how the story goes.  If we were just another NPC (non-playable character), we would probably do nothing.  It is unknown why we are so "special".  The story isn't very deep so this part gets a rating of about a 5.
Difficulty: 7
I gave this game a difficulty rating of a 7.  This game has many different ways to play the game.  Various modes such as Nuzlocke, mono-type run, mono-Pokémon run, and no Pokémon center run.  Some offer more challenge than others.  However, I combined all of them and heavily weighted the fact that most people don't do the crazy runs, and they play the game like normal people.  So if you play the game like a normal person, it isn't that hard.  There are some areas that can give the player trouble such as Sabrina's gym (because Psychic was such an overpowered type), going through the rock tunnel (it's hard if you don't have flash), and getting stuck in those battles where someone spams Wrap (I'm looking at you trainers in Erikas gym!)  The Elite Four is a challenge with the strongest Pokémon being level 60.  However, they are the "final boss" for they are meant to be hard.  Overall, the game isn't that difficult if you train, but if you challenge yourself it can be quite difficult.
Overall - 8.3
My reasoning behind this is I averaged all the scores.  There aren't that many differences with this game compared to Pokémon Blue and Red.  The main difference between Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Red compared to Pokémon yellow is that you have Pikachu following you around.  You can obtain all the starters in your play through instead of having to pick only 1.  Other than that there really aren't that many differences.  This game was very fun to play through, and I enjoyed making this review.
Bye!

Ahhh child hood   poopadooper
Well second review :)   and of my favorite Pokémon game? Sweet! Lets see what this has to offer
Well this was the first game I played on a Game boy Color and boy am I glad I played this gem of a game. (disclaimer this is from and objective view  and is not influenced by my sweet love of this game sort of )
Graphics:9    The graphics in this game are amazing! For this era of handhold's. So far on this handheld 2 different sets Japanese: Red and Green. They had some massive flaws (Oh god the sprite of mew is forever etched into my retinas) They fixed MOST of them in the Japanese Blue version. They then translated those sprites to the newly translated Pokémon red and blue/green we come to know and love in America Then they had some minor flaws (go to blue or red and look at Golbat He looks like somebody from Kiss)  Then they fixed the remaining game breaking glitches in their smashing hit Pokémon yellow also known as Pokémon Special Pikachu edition.
Sound: 10 Two words: Vermilion city. People who have played any of the Pokémon games do know this Pokémon music is one thing above all: catchy. That's the whole reason for music in a game. To make you want to hear more I often find myself humming lavender town in my shower. The route music is catchy as well making you want to hear more and more until the next thing you know you are at the Pokémon league.
Addictiveness: 10    While not all Pokémon games will receive this high of a score Pokémon Yellow will always rank highest of games I love so dearly (don't tell majora's mask I'm cheating on her) This game when I got this at three-years-old, I couldn't put it down. I was glued to the screen. In fact my first words were "PIKA PIKA" ah those days were the best all you had to do was cry and suddenly wild game boy color appeared *claps* yaaay wish that was now, now all you get is yelled at for being a cry-baby.
Story: 7    Just because I've seen the story million of times. Not saying it's a bad story parsay just I've played Pokémon games so much I've already mastered that fiddle. The base of it is You are a 10 year old boy who has always dreamed of being a Pokémon trainer Suddenly it's your chance what a totally random happenstance. You are greeted by professor oak who asks your name and the name of his grandson (Alzheimer's perhaps?) Then you get a Pokémon, get a poked ex then set off to beat 8 gym leaders the elite four plus champion  then professor oak puts you in the hall of fame and then you are told to catch every single Pokémon (next to impossible). That's about it
Depth: 10     As I've already explained above it's a long storyline and I've logged as much as 300 hours trying to find an elusive Pokémon so I get 150 (never mew cause I don't glitch) That's deserving of a 10 in my book.
Difficulty: 8. I only say this because of Brock. Him being a rock type gym leader and you having an electric type pikachu without anything type advantages (Except mankey) It can get difficult if you don't level grind (for you who don't know it's staying in a certain area until all your Pokémon can one shot every single Pokémon on that route) If you level grind this games difficulty goes down to about a two. A better game for a beginner to the Pokémon series is Fire Red or Leaf Green A.K.A. The game where Game freak walks you through everything.
Overall. I would tell anyone to play this game all the way once. Great game, Amazing graphics, more challenging than most Pokémon games.

Why you no take Thunder Stone?!   Jinx98
Introduction
Hello reader and readers and thanks for checking out my review of "Pok?mon Yellow" for the Game Boy Color. So since this is a Pokemon review and there are thousands of them on this site. I'm going to keep this was short, sweet and to the point, but attempting to provide you with as much information about the game as possible.
Difficulty- 4 out of 10
Pokemon games are not exactly known for being difficult. Pokemon Yellow wasn't much of a challenge either, seeing as it was simply just a special edition spin off Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. As a matter of fact, the hardest area in the game was having to take an electric type to a rock and ground gym, where you was at a huge disadvantage of your electric attacks not working and your normal attacks simply just not cutting it.
Addictiveness- 10 out of 10
Pokemon games can rehash the same type of plot every time of, you getting your first Pokemon, leaving home to start your Pokemon adventure when you haven't even finished the 5th grade yet, collecting badges for the Pokemon League, starting a fight with a group of Pokemon gangsters whom would have killed you and taken all your Pokemon in real life and complete your Pokedex, just so you can say you are the Pokemon Master of 700 plus creatures in your PC, that you have no attention of ever using and still score millions of dollars with ever release. I was fond of Yellow however, because it was the first Pokemon game that actually allowed an actual Pokemon to follow you around, and the best part was it actually had reactions to show you depending on what was going on.
Graphics- 10 out of 10
In terms of look, Yellow takes a more superior look to Pokemon Red and Blue titles when it came to details of the Pokemon, since the previous game designs looked horrible. Pidgey can now smile now that he actually looks like a Pidgey from the anime.
Story-8 out of 10
Same classic story. You play as a Pokemon Trainer, whom has turned 10 and gained a Pokemon license, which means you can now legally leave home and full fill your dream of seeing and having adventures with Pokemon in order to one day be able to catch them all and call yourself a Pokemon Master. This story plot was still fresh back than, but its kind of like Sega with Sonic always chasing after the mad man collection emeralds so he can power his doomsday machine and destroy us all.
Sound- 8 out of 10
Shares the exact same sound as Pokemon Red and Blue, seeing as its just a spin off.
Depth- 9 out of 10
Same as above. Yellow is simply a spin off of Pokemon Red and Blue, however it does add a little bit more to the same with the introduction of Pikachu following you around. Other than that there's not much to say, so I just gave I a 9 anyway.

Pokemon:Yellow, Still a Charming Little Game   name543
Pokemon is a very long running series, having everything in the way from the original rpg's, to beat em ups. Even a few rather strange games focused on taking pictures or taking care of your adorable Pikachu. Though sometimes it is always nice to get back to the classics. Pokemon Yellow was one of the first Pokemon games released. Although it is mostly the same, it has some large differences, such as the use of Pikachu as your starter, and the ability to get the other three starters later on.
Graphics: The graphics of the overworld in this game are mostly the same as the ones in Red and Green. Not to say that's a bad thing of course. Pokemon had relatively good graphics in those games. Though of course there was room for improvement. The fact that none of them were changed means the same here. The overworld sprites are pretty good, but have plenty of room to be improved on. The battle sprites on the other hand, received a major upgrade for many Pokemon. No longer do you squint and tilt your head while looking at Exeggutor's sprite, wondering what horrible creature you had just evolved your Exeggcute into. Pikachu also has a look more in line with it's anime counterpart, getting rid of the older, chubbier sprite the original games had.
Sound: The sounds of the game are relatively solid all around. Though there are no differences in sounds from Green and Red. So this was probably expected by most people. Every Pokemon still makes it's cry when you send it out into battle. Each move still makes the buzzing sound through the speakers when it hits. So all sounds go relatively well. Though you're bound to go insane by the fifth or so time you head the low health alert buzzer.. You get used to it eventually, especially since you have the nice and catchy gym leader themes to balance it out. The battle themes in these games truly are nice to listen to, especially the ones for the more powerful trainers you fight. It gives the game a nice sense of how strong your opponent is.
Addictiveness: As you probably already know, this game can get very addictive. Each time you play through the game, you have a new team of Pokemon you can choose. So the thought is always there to restart your file and decide to use a different group of Pokemon this time. With all the choices, it's obvious you won't get to try them all out in one run. So this game makes you have multiple playthroughs to really find which Pokemon you enjoy and which go well together in a team. Without Dark and Steel types though, which were added in gen 2, it does overpower Psychic-types quite a bit. So it is likely you'll end up with a Psychic-type on your team through most of these playthroughs.
Story: Probably the weakest point of this game is it's story. Not to say it's a horrible story though. It's just that you won't be doing anything overly special through most of it. The story is the same as in the previous installments, except for the fact you're given a Pikachu as your starter. This does add a bit of side moments to the story though. Such as finding a Jigglypuff that ends up putting your buddy to sleep. Or a Clefairy that the adorable mouse tries to woo, which doesn't really get anywhere for him. So while the main story is the same as the previous games, Pikachu does have small interactions with other Pokemon. This makes the game seem more in depth, as Pikachu's small moments can be pretty entertaining for a distraction from the main story. The rest of the story is average though. You're a young trainer who leaves his home town, fights his rival, collects badges, and is apparently the only person in the region actively stopping a villainous team of people. So as you can see, the story isn't amazing, but it definitely is enough to keep you playing.
Depth: It's a Pokemon game, so of course there's a lot of depth to be found here. My earlier comments about the large number of Pokemon shows how much there is to this game, especially if you intend to catch every Pokemon you can find in the game. Along with trying to find good move sets for them. This means you'll very likely be spending a while catching Pokemon, wanting as many species as possible before you decide on which are good and which you'll most likely get rid of without care. This can take a while, especially if you don't know where to find most of them. So you'll end up searching the region for a while as you search out every species that hasn't filled up your Pokedex yet. It truly does feel rewarding though when you capture or evolve the Pokemon that finally fills the Pokedex, knowing that you have caught every single Pokemon that exists in the world. (Until gen 2 comes out of course.)
Difficulty: As an rpg, this game really doesn't have a set difficulty that everyone will be experiencing. It mostly depends on what Pokemon you train and how high their levels are when you battle certain opponents. Certain teams may prove to wreck the whole game with minimal effort, while others may struggle to keep up as they realize they can't handle the late game trainers. So this puts the games difficulty as a more middle of the road experience. Some players may find a large amount of annoyance during some parts, while others might breeze through without care. The only tip I can offer to help is that you should try to make a balanced team. As a team that covers each others weaknesses tends to get farther than one that simply focuses on one aspect to the detriment of all others.
Wrapping up: My final score to the game is a very good 8.7. It's not a perfect game by any means, having small bugs and other problems that could derail the experience at points. There's also the somewhat generic story that holds it back. But everything else definitely makes up for it. Especially the tiny moments that Pikachu does add by being in the game. So whether you're a new trainer, or someone with the series from the beginning, picking the game up because of nostalgia, you'll most likely have a good time playing through Pokemon: Yellow.

The Worrld of pikachu in a nutshell~ In My Opinion   The Video GameG..
Hello Guys, This Is The Video GameGuy54321 here, this time I am talking about, you guessed it , Pokémon Yellow. I think this is a awesome game, with pikachu, ash (I personally think Dawn should be an NPC  in this game). Now, to begin, I think the graphics are not very colorful, not to mention the fact that it actually changes colors as you go on paths and enter cities, towns, etc. And the graphics are blocky 8-bit like, so I'll give it a five. The sound, eh, gets a five because I think FireRed and LeafGreen has way better music. I am very addicted to this game because pikachu is one of your Pokémon (I wish to get an eevee though), so I give it a nine. There isn't really a story, you can complete the game or you can mess around and do whatever you want, so I left it blank. I gave depth an 8 because the game is somewhat long, with you having to do certain things to progress through the game. I think it is moderately difficult to play because of the trainers that constantly appear and the wild Pokémon that appear. Finally, to conclude this review, I think all of you guys should play this game. The Video GameGuy54321 out.

Who's that Pokemon?   THEKILLERJUNKER
Question. What happens when you combine all the great elements of a critically acclaimed RPG ,like the Final Fantasy series, and the critically acclaimed company Nintendo together? Answer... a game franchise that has quickly grown to become one of the mainstay RPG series even to this day. I of course am talking about the Pokémon franchise. Now the truth is are you expecting a review or a long ,and might I add, very boring history lesson? Of course not! Who wants that? But lets do something shall we? Lets go back to the year 1995. Lot's of cool things happened during that time. Rumor of a new Nintendo and Sega system was overheard by many gamers and an even bigger surprise; Sony was to join the competition against Nintendo and Sega. This of course got you and your friends very riled up about which system was the best." The PlayStation is definitely going to win this console war" says one friend. " No it's Nintendo that has the N64. The PlayStation can't stand up to the N64." shouts another. " I believe that neither console will win against the Sega Saturn." interrupts a third friend. (poor kid) But once you went home after a good day at school, and asked your parents for a N64 for your birthday you soon realized that your parents couldn't afford a $200.00 system for your birthday.
You would go upstairs sadder than ever expecting for the worst presents you could think of. "What if they get me another Tiger electronics game? Or maybe some terrible Super Nintendo game like they did with that Shaq - Fu game?" That's all you could think of when it was time for bed. Oh wonderful surprise! You wake up after a terrible nights sleep still sad about the news and come downstairs to see tons of presents waiting to be opened. After the birthday cake you go to the presents still unsure whether it was going to be a hit or miss. After opening almost all your presents, you feel generally happy. But there's one more present. It's a fairly medium sized box. Once you realize it's too small for an N64 you hope for the worst. And what do you find? A Game boy color with... what's this... Pokémon yellow included! You jump for joy and hug the stuffing out of your parents who seem pretty happy with what they did. But soon they would regret it because of how many failed tests and incomplete assignments you ended up getting because of that very game. But the question is does its addiction and game play still hold up today or is it some fad of the 90's? Let's find out.
Graphics:7
One of the most iconic aspects of this game are its graphics. Sure they aren't the best but good lord are they amazing for a system like the Game boy. Sure by toady's standards the graphics are mediocre but you have to have that perspective that only a kid from the early 90's would have. Then you would know what I'm talking about. not only are the towns in which you partake in are all well done and unique but the best part about the game was the design of each and every Pokémon in the game. It was jaw dropping to see that not only could you face other Pokémon but by the number of how many the game developers decided to fit in that tiny little cartridge;151 BRAND NEW AND UNIQE POKEMON TO FIGHT AND CATCH! This to a boy back in the 90's was heaven. It wasn't like Super Mario bros with just everyday, clear as crystal graphics. Oh heavens no, not at all. This game offered immense possibilities and combinations. And remember, this was when Pac Man and Asteroids were still popular. The graphics rank up there with games like Legend of Zelda Link's awakening and Super Mario land 2. It was just amazing at the time and still is which is why this game deserves a 7 for the graphics department.
Sound:9
Another great pro for this game is its sound and music. Back in the 90's all you would be humming was at least one Pokémon song from the game. They are all very iconic and each have a very lasting appeal to each and every one of them. There probably isn't one gamer in this world who hasn't listened to at least one of the many tunes in this game. While the Game boy Color didn't have as good music as its older brother, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, it didn't have to. This is good music in its own unique way - you know, that casual 8 - bit music that has since been very iconic all those years ago. These melodies, since there debut have been a mainstay for the franchise ever since ( along with the ! mark you see when you cross a challenger's path by mistake or on purpose.) With that said the sounds are also appropriate and well done. The truth is that its amazing for tunes this simplistic to have been updated all the years which is why when you play any of these tunes at a gamer they will say " Hey that's Pokémon. Awe Pokémon! " Stuff this iconic can't be walked over which is why my score for the music is a 9.
Addictiveness:9
One of the biggest reasons why this game is so addicting is because it combines the easiness of an RPG like Final Fantasy on the Nintendo Entertainment System with a unique world to traverse through like Mario which is why this game found its way into many people's homes once the Game boy color was released in the United States. Sure it isn't as addicting to play because today you can be lazier than ever and search up gameplay footage on Google ( I hate to admit I couldn't have caught Mew if I didn't go and search that on Google ) But remember, this is 1995 ; it was just you, with no money, no Internet or computer in fact, and NO VIZZED or HACKING DEVICES whatsoever. Which meant that you were on your own if you wanted to beat the game. You really felt like you were a 10 year old on adventure. And an adventure it was! The game was, and still is, incredibly long with seven gyms, wild Pokémon everywhere, team Rocket, and your opponent, Gary Oak . All that and the promise of catching all 151 Pokémon meant you would spend many sleepless nights with the light on trying to play as much of the game as possible ( which was impossible unless you cheated your way through ). So for me comes a 9 for the addictiveness and all those failed assignments and testes I got playing this game!
Story:8
The story is original and fresh from Nintendo. You are an unnamed 10 year old boy who must win all 8 gyms, collect all 151 Pokémon, stand up to Gary Oak, and stop the terrorist group known as Team Rocket from taking over all the Kanto region. Uh... wow. That's deep. Strays away from the typical saving the princess scenario doesn't it? Honestly that was a gut move from Nintendo. Never heard that one before. This was very different from the other games with its storyline. Even to this day; this storyline is still used in with every Pokémon game. Which is why this game gets an 8 for the storyline. Difficult to argue with that.
Depth:8
This game has so much replay value that it's crazy. It's so overwhelmingly full of things to do. Not one time in the game do you have nothing to do like many games. You can either collect all 151 Pokémon, win all gym badges, beat  Team Rocket, or if you are so free of time, complete all the objectives in the game. There is simply too many Pokémon to have and so many routes to take during your way through Kanto, and ,to top things off, there are lots of TMs or HMs to find and use in your game with each having a different effect from another. With that said, the Pokémon are a reason why this game is full. Each Pokémon is unique consisting of more than at least 8 or 9 types. There are Water type, Ground type, Electric Type, Poison Type, Air Type, Psychic type, and many other types of Pokémon each unique to each other and all have a certain appeal. Even Magikarp, a Pokémon that is the most hated in the universe still appeals to certain players. All that with a nice save feature that allows you to pick up were you last left off. And there are items everywhere in the shape of Poke balls, or are not even visible at all. So with that the game does in fact have an immense amount of depth to it standing out to other Game boy games like Tetris or Dr. Mario. So a score of 8 is more than deserving for a game like this.
Difficulty:7
This game can get pretty difficult, especially with its gyms. The difficulty comes from the need to level up your Pokémon. The higher the level, the easier it is to take out a Pokémon. The lower the level, the higher the chance of you running out of usable Pokémon and blacking out ( which happens a lot in this game by the way ) Also the decisions you make are all the more life changing in the game which is why you should save up on rare candy and other goods while playing this game. Winning a match or battle depends on which type of Pokémon you use against your opponent's Pokémon. Things like using an electric type against a rock type is very costly for your Pokémon. But things like using a water type against a grass type is very huge benefit when in a heated battle against an opponent or gym leader. These simple choices can either be a benefit or downfall in winning a battle. It can be very easy to make a mistake or two in this game which is why a website like Bulbapedia can be very helpful when learning about Pokémon, Attacks, Areas, and items like the Hyper Potion. This game will take a long time to beat but once you do it, you feel a huge sense of accomplishment. So from me comes a 7 for the difficulty.
Overall:8.9
While this game isn't the best RPG it still stands out from all the others with its great game play, world, difficulty, and surrounding which is why this game is universally acclaimed to being one of the best RPGs of all time. If you have the chance of picking it up, I recommend it. This game keeps the Game Boy line from getting dull or boring and is one of the best games of all time. Happy Gaming!

Pokemon Yellow Review   Blue
The Classic pokemon game. The game that improves on the brilliance of Blue and Red.
Pokemon Yellow is on Vizzed Board.
This is the unquestioned Supreme being of all the games. Why? Because of how it expanded on the original concept without moving the games in the wrong direction. And being able to have all three starters really kicks this game into overdrive.
Many fans of the original will complain that Pokemon Yellow is to similar to its predecessors.
Same plot.
Same characters.
Same pokemon.
It's pretty much just like starting a new game in either Red or Blue version and adding benefits.
This is true. However, remembering how great R/B were, proves that this game deserves it's perfect score.
Just don't try to sell any items.
Eep!

Pokemon Yellow review   8bitgamer
Can this spinoff game work like the other ones?
Graphics: Same as Pokemon Red and Blue. But the Pokemon in the battle mode look better. They look very close like the anime it's based on.
Sound: Same as predecessors. But you can hear Pikachu say his catchphrase in 8 bit glory. It does sound gibberish.
Addictiveness: So fun to play. You would spend hours training you Pokemon and owning trainers. You will also try to catch 'em all.
Story. You are a Pokemon trainer getting your 1st Pokemon, Pikachu. You will use him and other Pokemon to battle the 8 gym leaders, defeat the Elite 4, and the Champion.
Depth: The story sums up how big this game is. You will also have side quests, like defeating Team Rocket or capturing Mewtwo. You will be busy for a long time.
Difficulty: It's only hard if your Pokemon are not at the right level. That's the only thing hard in Pokemon Yellow.
Recommended for RPG and Pokemon fans.

Pokemon Yellow, Great game!   patrik16
Pokémon yellow was a great game. My brother bought Pokémon yellow for me a few months ago.The graphics are great! Its impressive for a Game boy.The Pocket monsters look almost alike from the anime! The music was great. It brings back memories when I messed around with my brother's Pokémon game when I was very little. Its very addictive. I would LOVE to play this game again. The story was the same as red and blue, but with a few updates. You are a young boy that sets out on a journey to complete the Poke Dex and live your dream to become the champion! But this time, you don't choose Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle for your starter. Instead, you get a cute Pikachu! And your rival, Gary (Blue/Green depending where you live) gets an Eevee. But you can receive the other starters from different people. Charmander you can get in the route between Cerulean city. You can get Bulbasaur next to the Pokémon center. You can also get Squirtle from Vermilion city, Moving on. The game was big, It has some things to offer. Pokémon yellow was a little tricky. It may get you stuck on some parts. But not frustratingly hard. It may be tricky with getting certain items, Such as the Silph scope. But if you know what your doing. This wont be a problem! Same with the Gym battles, Elite 4 battles, And the champion battle. You need strategies to overcome battles. Like Brock, your first gym battle. You need to think of a strategy to defeat him. Okay, have fun playing Pokémon yellow!

This is undecrible it's just so great no amount of words can capture it's true beauty! I own this game my self but lost it so I'm sooooo HAPPY TO PLAY IT AGAIN! It is also my favrite handheld game of all time. It's just like the classic show the only time where pikachu follows you (till it dies) and how about the epic surfing pikachu minigame it's hard to unlock and you can't do it here (since you need pikachu to learn surf, and the only way to do that is by a game shark or importing it from pokemon stadium) but it's the greatest! How can you even compare the others to Pokemon Yellow, I'll tell you how you don't.

Ah yes, The Classical Pikachu   catfight09
This is a very great game, and those who haven't played this game yet should play it RIGHT AWAY!
Although the graphics aren't the same as the ones used in Black and White, Pokemon Yellow has a bit of addictive quality to it that makes you want to play all day. Most of the story is actually in a way similar to Pokemon Ash Gray in terms of Team Rocket, starting with Pikachu, and able to acquire all starters.
Something that makes this game both unique, and ironic is the fact that Pikachu DOES NOT EVOLVE!!
The difference to the pikachu on this game, and the one on Heartgold/SoulSilver is that it shows way more emotion in this game. Most of the things in HS/SS is basically random 8 times out of 10 whereas the pika in this game does things that actually relate to the area, its status conditions, etc.
If you're ever bored and think of a pokemon game that you want to ever replay, Pokemon Yellow is the game for you. It never gets old, so it doesn't matter if you've played it once, or 300 times you'll have the same happy feeling and addictiveness every time.
In my opinion, this should've been the FIRST Pokemon game that you've ever played. So I'd recommend this for anybody that doesn't  know much about Pokemon or needs a start.

There is a perfect balance between the games hardness and easiness. The game is huge and efficient, and the story blows my mind. There is awesome bonus stuff, and you can switch around the story from the cartoon a little. Like how ash never evolves pikachu but here you can do that. Or if you want to put pikachu in a box and release him, the story is switched now! Or you can go exactly like the cartoon and keep pikachu and teach him the moves that ash did. I was playing one time and the game just froze on me. Hours of game play was wasted because I forgot to save.
Even so, I believe this game is the mother of all Pokémon games, and I for one would love it if they did a remake of it for the DS or DSI, or 3DS without any changes at all.

Pokemon Yellow Review   StuffAllstar
Here you are in this weird world not knowing what do to.This world is called the Pokemon world and you are in the Kanto region in the town of Pallet Town! You start off playing a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (i think it might be the Nintendo Entertainment System) and you go downstairs to say hi to mom and then you walk outside. You see grass and decide to walk in it turns out this is the type of grass called tall grass.
Professor Oak  comes up to you and basically talks to you like you are completely stupid, then Pikachu appears! Your starter is the pokemon Pikachu, sadly Gary (your rival) takes the other pokemon Eevee! So just like in Pokemon Red and Blue (Green and Red if you are in Japan) Gary wants to fight you, luckily Eevee is weak and uses moves such as Tail Whip. After the fight you decide to listen to Prof. Oak  and decide to start your journey to be the Pokemon Master!
This game is the 3rd game of the series and is just beautiful  i mean come on when you started playing games you wanted to at least play one original game! Anyways This game is quite easy and is very funny, in this game is where they allow Pikachu to follow you outside of the pokeball. This new concept kind of surprised gamers, a pokemon following you you get to see Pikachu's emotions all you do is turn around press the talk button and a box appears on screen showing his face!
The Pokemon in this game are all of them in the game! That is from region one (Kanto) you even, spoiler alert, get all three original pokemon! This was quite awesome and some people wanted to see this in every third game of all the series. Though  this game has the starters the battles are more difficult, and just are stronger like the Elite Four!
Game play is just like all pokemon games and is setup like a RPG (Role Playing Game) and is quite simple when it comes to fighting. Addictive  this game is young one, anyways this game deserves more reviews and  is excellent. Sound is cool since it is sort of old  the same sound effects are used for most moves. That's it for this review now don't forget to reply and even make your own review for i would like to see other peoples reviews! Bye Bye for now

Pokemon Yellow: My Birthday Review   acam
Since it is my 17th birthday today, I figured that I would review one of my all-time favorite games:" Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition". I liked this game so much, I asked my dad to get it off of Amazon.com as a birthday present. Anyway, on to the review...                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Graphics score an 8 because they have been somewhat improved since Red and Blue. One example of this is seen in the improved frontal sprites (back sprite remain the same, though). Sound gets a 9 because although the sound is inferior considering the platform (Gold and Silver vastly improve on this), the music is unforgettable. Addictiveness gets a 10 due to 2 simple facts. Firstly, there's so much to do (about 10 hours worth), and secondly, there are quite a few side quests to engage in as well. Story gets an 8. I will not reveal it here because if you've played a Pokémon game, chances are, you already know it! Depth gets a 9 for reasons of which I've already discussed in this review. Difficulty gets a 4 because, as long as you train your Pokémon regularly, you'll do fine in the game.

Amazing   ME!
Amazing. Simply amazing. The game gives you many features, for example you don't have to trade to get all the starters. But there is only one thing I don't like. Not evolving Pikachu. When you get a high level Pikachu don't you just want to evolve it so it can learn hyper beam? That was my wish when I played this the first  time. Coming to the PokeMall, buying a thunderstone to use on Pikachu. Didn't work of course. So I used it on Eevee which at the end did nothing to help me. Of course, catching the 3 legendary birds, Artucino, Zapdos and Moltres was one of my many goals, along catching Mewtwo at the cave around Misty's gym and catching Mew him/her/it self. Now when I think about it, I don't know where to find Mew. But anyway, great game, graphics amazing for the console, story was addicting. Again, the only flaw in this game is not being able to evolve Pikachu.

This is my favorite Gen 1 game.In it you can get all the starters and my favorite Pokémon Pikachu. When you arrive at Prof.Oak's laboratory you find out there is only one Pokémon left which is an Eevee.Just as you take it your rival gets jealous and steals it.Therfore you are gently given a Pokémon that Prof.Oak just caught,a PIKACHU.The Pikachu is stubborn in the beginning but it gradually becomes more friendly as you gain more ground in your journey. The Pikachu refuses to evolve into Raichu. It cannot be obtained in the wild so  you are denied the powerful Pokémon.
This game is really addictive and I really recommend it!

This is a classic Pokémon game the third one to be made. Pokémon yellow is the real version of Pokémon with his pikachu and the character sets out on in fun and endless adventure in the kanto region unlike Pokémon red and blue this one is different. This game reveals how red got his pikachu and embarked on an awesome adventure. The game is really cool and the good thing is that you can get charmander, squirtle, and bulbasaur. The thing is this game really has bad graphics because this game is the first Pokémon game but still awesome. Another thing is you fight team rocket off. You go to the eight gyms of kanto. They are Brock, Misty, Lt. Surge, Ericka, Koga, Sabrina, Blaine, and Giovanni. The eight gyms of kanto and also Giovanni is the leader of the team rocket and after you beat him they disband. Cool game right I hope you enjoy it.

hello fellow pikachu fans of all ages today i will review Pokemon yellow on the game boy
-
game play: the game starts up by seeing the grandest of all Pokemon  that's right pikachu it all its glory. Even when you press start you will hear pikachu speaks its name.  then the play will act out just like how red and blue did till u get a pikachu as your only starter. the game pretty is much of red and blue apart from having pikachu.
i may be telling a lie about pretty much about the whole the game is like red and blue to tell you all the apple truth the story follows the anime of the same name (too bad the toon feature on this doesn't work anymore) but still becoming the best Pokemon Trainer of the Kanto region

Good parts of the game: its got freaking pikachu
bad things about the game: another than the story line change to be more like the anime its still the same game but rather better game

This game is amazing made in 1998 this was my first experiance with pokemon, After boworing it from a friend i spent so many hours on it. after playing yellow then red and blue it is easy to see the advancemence made to the games. Not only were the sprites re-made and enhanced, the world map seemed better aswell...(though that might just be me) the most noticeable change would be...THE PIKACHU...you know the little guy the one that follows you around throughout the game, a macanic not seen again till heart gold and soul silver...this really lead me to bond with my pikachu.
all in all this game is brilliant and i wouldnt hessetate to play again.

Well if you played one of the old pokemon you played them all. Well until you get into the newer regions or if a game in the same region gets more pokemon. Basically pokemon is like Scooby doo. See one watched them all. Anyway on to the game, pokemon yellow is set in the kanto region (same as pokemon blue/red) Its just like pokemon blue/red and green (only released in Japan) but the only difference is the starter you get is Pikachu however your not able to get any of the other starters from blue/red unless you have a gameshark. The game goes on as blue/red.
This games I great but hard to find and expensive great thing we have vizzed to play this.

The graphics are nice not the best on the system though. I think this is a factor of the game being so big game freak had to cut down the graphics a bit.

I love the sound in this game I went so far to download the song and I still listen to it a lot. I think the developers put a lot of work into the sound I absolutely love it.

Pokemon Yellow review   Divine Aurora
"I wanna be the very best Like no one ever was,To catch them is my real test To train them is my cause, I will travel across the land Searching far and wide, Each Pokemon to understand The power that's inside Pokemon, (gotta catch them all) its you and me I know it’s my destiny Pokemon, oh, you're my best friend In a world we must defend Pokemon, (gotta catch them all) a heart so true Our courage will pull us through You teach me and I'll teach you Po-ke-mon, gotta catch 'em all Every challenge along the way With courage I will fac I will battle every day To claim my rightful place Come with me, the time is right There's no better team Arm in arm we'll win the fight It's always been our dream". With that said Pokemon Yellow is the Pokemon Ash ketchem adventure to the T, and it really makes you feel as though you are Ash Ketchem setting off on your journey in the Kanto region.
Graphics: 8
"So what are the graphics like in Pokemon Yellow version?" Well the graphics seen in Pokemon Yellow version are easily the best for there time but considering today's standards they are fair, not to poor not to great. The game is in color, but every town is one color and every object in the town is the one color including your trainer. The Pokemon are in color but there animations(forms) look distorted. Also there is no backgrounds in the Pokemon battle scene's.
Sound: 8
"What can be heard in Pokemon Yellow version, what can be expected out of the sound quality?" Pokemon Yellow version's sound is decent nothing really special about it. Each town has it's own unique soundtrack that play's for the duration of the time you are in the town. The Pokemon sprites do have battle cries when they are put out into battle and each Pokemon's battle cry is unique none are the exact same. The soundtrack can be heard with ease and it has clear quality.
Addictiveness: 7
"Were you addicted to playing Pokemon Yellow version?" Yeah I was it was pretty addicting because it allowed gamers who are fans of the Pokemon franchise to play though the Ash Ketchem adventure, what I mean by this is you could obtain all three Kanto region starters like Ash Ketchem and for the first time every in the Pokemon franchise Pikachu is your starter and he's outside of his Pokeball following you around like he does with Ash.
Story: 6
"So what's the story like in Pokemon Yellow version?"The story is your a young 14 year old boy who is just starting out on his Pokemon journey in the Kanto region Pallet town. So your character upon waking up runs into a field of grass with no Pokemon and then Pokemon  Professor Oak is forced to come to your aid since a wild Pokemon attacks( that wild Pokemon was pikachu). Oak then captures the wild pikachu and takes you back to his lab to get your first Pokemon. Once your in the lab Oak grandson Gary(your rival) is there and he is also waiting to receive  his first Pokemon. Naturally after you get your first Pokemon, your off on your grand adventure. You will face 8 gyms and the elite four but be careful as their is a evil sinister organization bent on enslaving the Kanto region and all the Pokemon and people in Kanto.
Depth: 6
"So how big is Pokemon Yellow version and how much does it offer?" Pokemon Yellow version isn't very big map wise, there are 10 towns. The is a moderate amount of things to do, you can gamble in the game corner, go on a Pokemon catching safari and of course beat all 8 gyms and the elite four and you can catch all 3 legendary birds, Mewtwo, and Mew(catch Mew by doing the Mew glitch).
Difficulty: 6
"So how hard is Pokemon Yellow, what's the difficulty like?" Pokemon Yellow version isn't very difficult to beat. If you build a well balanced team meaning diversity in different Pokemon types then the game is a cake walk but a enjoyable cake walk. The game's A.I. is brainless and makes constant mistakes which makes so it's pretty easy to out maneuver and beat.
Overall: 9
Overall Pokemon Yellow version is the Ash Ketchem adventure to the T. Although the graphics aren't the best the game is still worth the play and is pretty entertaining. You can obtain all three Kanto starters as the game progresses and you can do the Mew glitch. I recommend Pokemon Yellow version to any fan of the Pokemon franchise especially if you are just starting out in the franchise.

awesome game   sniperdeath08
Pokémon yellow will forever remain one of my favorite Pokémon games of all time just for the simple fact that you get to have a pikachu follow you around just like the original anime. Overall I give this game an 8/10 because it is one of the older Pokémon games and compared to the newer ones it kind of leaves a bit to be expected but it was a great game in it's time. Graphics I give a 6 because they're a bit pixelated. Sound I give a 7 because the same tracks kind of just loop over and over again and it gets old after a while. Addictiveness I give a 7 because if you've never played a Pokémon game before or you're playing a new one it's fun at first but gets old after a while. Story I give a 7 because like most Pokémon games you have a rival have to defeat an evil gang have to beat all 8 gyms and then finally you get to the Pokémon league. Depth I give an 8 because there are countless Pokémon you can capture and then you can level them all up and pick and choose which ones you want to make up a decent party. Difficulty I give a 6 because its not really all that hard to play it just takes time and dedication to catch or level up Pokémon.

my first themed review (warning this may contain spoilers)   thetruemasterof..
This is my first themed review,my critic review, in case u didn't read the title, witch i sugest u do next time, this review may contain spoilers.
overall:5.1 fun game
graphics: 4 As all gamboy color games crappy graphics but, i must admit some are good like the pikachu and the starmie and staru.
sound:5 The sound quality is crappy when walking, but awsome in battle.
adctiveness: 10 I played for 14 hours straight not realising it but its to be expected with pokemon games.
story: 2.6 Like always just a kid trying to be the pokemon leage champ and fill the pokedex. But it does have a little more.
deph: 6.4 BIG game emphasis on big i spent 5 weeks at least getting to be the pokemon leage champ.
dificulty: 6.2 You have a pikachu and the first damn gym is rock/ground are freakin kidding me nintindo, but it did make it more intresting (imposible to win first time around). 2nd gym water seems easy but Misty's freakin starmie and staru are too strong , took 3 thunders from level 20 pikachu to take down staru and 5 to take down starmie. 3rd gym intresting lightning vs lightning awsome, sparks are gonna fly hahahahaha.
Well thats it for my first themed review. What u guys think u think are my themed or regular reviews better?
I'm thinking of doing rage for the next review.

Der best game on erf   JABabalabba
OK so I owned this game when I was a kid and it fell into a puddle and ruined it but playing again its on of the best games ever. i think one of the main reasons I like it so much is nostalgia, I don't know it i would enjoy it as much if I didn't have it before. Well the graphics are barely 8bit they ARE 8bit which means they do not suck no matter how old they are "rule number one of reviewing old games". the area design is much better then the newer games in my option  you don't have long thin tunnel mazes instead you will have large cave systems when you find a cave, which I like very much. Despite the fact its old it has nearly as much hidden stuff in it as  the newer pokemon games. The music  in it is very good considering it can only have like 3 notes.

Awesome Game   dublicas
I just love Pokemon Games, but this on is spezial. It makes me happy and enjoys me every time i play it.
The graphiks are Great! (For 1998) Im sure im not the only one who loves the music of each Pokemon Game.
I played this game so much, but i want to play it again and again and again...
The only thing i dont really like is the story. The Story is bored, BUT its just a Pokemon game. Every Pokemon Game
has this Story line. It makes them to Pokemon games. But you can do other thing like Trade Pokemon with friends, or try to get everyone of the first 150 (151) Pokemon. And its not really hard, so everyone from 6 to Over 9000!!! can play this game abd have a lot of fun.
I can say, every one who didn't play this game
PLAY IT!
And have fun :D

Ah the Good Ol' Days   port753

this was my sister's first game, and

the first game I've played on the old, old game boys. Its been a while since
I've played, but I do know a little about it.
The graphics are similar to red, blue, gold, silver, and crystal; digital
characters and beep beep music. The pokemon however are easy to tell from
others which is a good thing that even at early stages of pokemon, the creators
still made the game similar to others. I do wish that games like this weren't
in misrepresented colors unlike they are these days when trees are green, the
water is blue, and buildings have a different color to them, but how much
should one expect from one of the first pokemon games?
The sound are easy to tell from its time being average. While it is beep beep,
the actual melody of the themes are addicting to listen to, even Lavender
Town's music. While this is an alternative to Red and Blue, I'm sure that music
is from those games too, but I'm not completely sure.
What makes this game unique from the first trio of kanto is that you are
allowed to walk side by side with pikachu, which makes sense why the game is
called pokemon Yellow. This also might've been the idea for Gold and Silver's
idea to have your first pokemon in the party to walk beside you. And of course
this is still a classic pokemon game, so this still has the same features a
normal game would. There are only about 150 pokemon total to catch says the
pokedex, but it is still does create a challenge for the player.
This should be alike to the Kanto story of team rocket, the legendary bird
trio, and the arrogant rival known as Gary. There are some original features
that only a person who has seen the anime would know. Instead of the casual
starters for that region, you are stuck with a friggin pikachu, which isn't really
that bad because of powerful electric moves like thundershock learned early,
but the only way to evolve your starter is with a thunderstone. Anyways, its a
different story and is just as enjoyable.
The depth is pretty much the same. Pokemon to catch, trainers to battle, be the
champion.... End of story.
Again, is just like a simple Pokemon game.....

My 700+ Word Review! :)   DittoDude44
This may be not done today, I am busy today.
REMEMBER: 700+ WORDS
Welll, I have to say this is a pretty good game for the Game Boy Color, or GBC for short. I have to say, this is one of the few games that has amazed me for a while and kept me entertained. Compared to other games I play, this is one of those that really stand out farther than most games I reallly like. While are there some glitches and bugs you can find by following some steps, or activating glitches without even trying to do anything to affect them in any way. The game has the perfect blend of difficulty, etc. This game, Pokemon Yellow, is one of those games that will keep you hooked to it for a good while, and will rarely have a day without playing it. If I could rate this game on a scale, my grand rating would definitely be a 10/10 no matter what. Though the first generation game boy color pokemon games were really glitchy, there are not very bad, but some are bad, from water in the trees, to the Missingno. glitch, to the walk through walls screen freeze glitch, there are a lot of them, I can safely say that to this game, but that is pretty much the only flaw I understand or that I found this out in this game game, but I looked that up, I never eyewittnessed any glitches during my gameplay. I also would like to add there are also a few Creepypastas for this game.
Okay, now that is pretty much over, I will now get to the categories and describe them in the best detail I can possibly do.
I will start with the Story.
Story - Big 10!
The story of this game has dearly impressed me. I reallly liked the story, but there was a few flaws, but I am not going to point them out.  How can I describe this category? I really do not have a lot to say, but I will say as much as I can. My description of this category will start now. Well, I have to say, the story is great compared to other games. It really stands out. To be honest, this is probably the best story I have ever sen and paid attention to.
Now the Graphics.
The graphics-  9
The graphics were very clear in this game, as in all pokemon games, it looks as you are playing from an aerial view. Compared to other GBC pokemon games, this one is pretty good except for most of the towns are all one color, depending on their name. (ex. Lavender Town- Lavender is a shade of purple) so that town would be all colored purple. If it was not like that, I would give them the big ten. Other than that, the graphics were very good. My opinion on the graphics is "the graphics are very clear, I love them." and for deatils to support my statement aka describe why I will add the following . . .
They are clear when you have a good graphics card, such as A8 Vision, the graphics look very clear, but if you have a bad graphics card, that may change though.
Okay, now that is over with, let's make a jump to the Storyline.
Storyline - 8
The storyline is pretty good, I got to admit that. In this game, Team Rocket is the new team whose plot is to take over the world and use pokemon as tools, that is the main plot of the game, and as a trainer from Pallet Town, you set out on a journey to attempt to stop Team Rocket and save pokemon and bring world (er, pokemon world) peace. Describing it, I will say I like this storyline, it really has a good meaning. And after you beat the game, you are pretty much free to do anything in the game you want, which is good. The Safari Zone is a jungle based place where you can catch many species of pokemon. I have to say, the Safari Zone was a grat idea to implement into the Pokemon games. So you just journey around, beat the gyms, beat Team Rocket, and become the ultimate Pokemon Trainer!
Okay, over with that, now let's jump to the Depth. ( I finally beat 700 words, by the way. :) )
Depth - 9
This game is pretty big, though it has a small file size. It features 8 gyms, and 151 pokemon to catch and train. That is a lot of pokemon. The game will take a while to beat itself, there are some times in the game where it is a breeze, but some points are hard, but it depends on which pokemon you use during your journey. I beat the entire game in around 15 Hours, which is a pretty long time to be playing up to  the point where you beat the game, but not get the diploma and all the pokemon and all that. It took me about 2 weeks to get al the pokemon, etc.
Okay, now lets move on to the sound. (800 words!)
Sound - 9.3
The sound in the game was great, I deducted .7 because of the Lavender Town music, which cn make you nauseous. Heck, I went in there and as soon as I heard the music, instant migrain in a laptop. But most of the music in this is good, and that is pretty much my full opinion. There is not a lot to say for the sound, but I will say what I can think of to say. But overall, I think all the towns (except Lavender Town, of course.) and routes' sound are pretty good, and it think this pretty much covers everything, other than the Addictiveness.
Okay, now the Addictiveness.
Well, I have to say, I play this a lot, maybe twice a day for about a hour. The game is addicting, the pokemon designs are pretty cool, and I think you should play it, I assure you you will like it. Pretty much all to say for the addictiveness, except for compared to all the other games on vizzed, this is probably the 2nd most played game for me, Light Platinum beats it by a tiny bit though.
Wrap things Up-
Overall, I think pokemon yellow is a great game to play. I think you should try it, I am sure you will like it.
Welll, this concludes this big mama. I may be back Saturday for another huge review.
Hope you enjoyed reading it. :)

Pokemon Yellow Cheat Codes

-The Mew glitch
First off, this glitch should be done by the beginning of the game. To get the Mew glitch, here's what you need to do. First, you need to have somebody with Teleport or fly. Teleport is way more practical at the beginning though. So what you do is first, you have to go right above the guy to the left of the Nugget Bridge. Then, walk down one spot, so he would come up to you. But, you need to pause the game before he comes toward you. This might take a while, so make sure you save it.

Now that you are at the menu, you need to teleport back to the city. The menu will not work now, so you know it's working. Next, go back over the bridge. Now, you have to get to a certain trainer that's to the northeast of Nugget Bridge.

To beat Brock easily, get either a Nidoran (male or female will be sufficient)or a Mankey and train them until they learn Double Kick or Low kick respectively.
