Pokemon: Shiny Gold - Review by Dean2k13 (FEATURED)   Dean2k13
MyFirst off, Hey! I'm Dean and this is going to be my very first review on the board, try not to be too harsh on me! :) I'm going to be reviewing the game Pokemon Shiny Gold obviously. I'll give you my thoughts and opinions on what I thought of the game. I will also give improvement points on ways the game itself could be improved. I will not be biased. This review will be very detailed and I will have put a lot of time into to it, so please do not reply if you haven't read it just to get a post count. If you are interested please read an then reply.
Alright let's go.
Graphics 7/10
Considering this game is a hack of the original Pokemon game Fire Red I will have to comment on it also. The sprites of the main  game characters are greatly different, there's a big difference. Both characters (yourself & your rival) are are different to what they looked like  in Fire Red, but this is understandable considering it is a hacked version of that game. I do love the character sprites in Fire Red though, the classic Pokemon hat that Ash wears in the anime series' and same particular clothes. That is what drew me into the graphics at first. But, in Shiny Gold the whole classic avatar was changed and the character wasn't too attractive too look at. His hat was yellow which ties in with the Shiny 'Gold' aspect of it but it wasn't at all that nice to look at as it was a poor shading of the colour gold, as I say it was more yellow. The body of the character was really chubby and circular. If you look at his arms, they're like bean bags in a sense. I really didn't like the body. Even the colour used on the body too, the poor use of reds and golds, they weren't too pleasing in my my opinion. Also, I didn't like that hairstyle your character had, it made him look slightly depressed in a sense which really didn't help attract me to the game.
Now for the graphics of the towns, trees, caves etc. Everything was very similar to Fire Red, the saturation and contrast of colours were exactly the same. I really liked the colours used in this game, they were very clear and precise. They really made me want to continue playing the game, which I did! The towns were pretty amazing I must say, the creator of the game really made the effort to make the towns very attractive and eye-pleasing which I want to thank. The towns were heavily worked on as they were terrible on the Game boy Color. The colours used in the town excited me, especially the use of shadowing and darkness, lightning shocks and rain in Eruteak city. I fell in love with the graphics at this point. It was amazing how the creator could do it. I was really impressed, that's why I spent so much time in that city. The gold used in Goldenrod City was also very attractive too! That town was amazing, the cobbled paths were really attractive, great use of blacks an grays used there also. The town was structured very well but some gates and fences were not needed and did not fit in with their surroundings. I didn't see the purpose of it, that time could have been spent editing the rocks and trees that weren't needed.
The trees - I really didn't like how most of them were glitched in the game, you would see half trees everywhere which stood out and made me dislike the graphics very much. They were so unfinished, this really impacted on my progress in the game as you'll find out in depth. There was a great use of the colour green used on the trees, mixed shades which was really nice to see, very similar to Fire Red in that sense too. There was rocks half cut as well, I would see these everywhere, blocking parts of the game. This really turned me off the game as the rocks were place anywhere and everywhere without any care. The water was very nice, the tantalizing turquoises were pretty impressive, I would always surf just to look at them.
Most features in Shiny Gold were almost identical to Fire Red, the Pokemon battles, the elite 4 rooms, the route colours.
Sound 10/10
The sounds in this game were completely identical to Fire Red's sound which I really loved. It's always good to use old music because it reminds you of the times you spent playing Fire Red. It brought back memories. The classic sound that plays when you catch your first Pokemon, even though it plays every time you catch a Pokemon it's still pretty amazing to listen to. It makes you feel that you completed a goal and to be proud of yourself. I also really enjoyed the creepy tunes of the basements in the game it makes you feel that your on a mission and you can't be seen. It really pulls on your senses, you're always alert in the basements because of the music.
The Pokemon battle music is also very awesome to listen to, it's a really fast tune that gets your blood pumping and makes you really competitive and therefore you really want to win, and probably will do so. The music also has great vibes to it. I really enjoyed listening to music in Goldenrod City and Saffron City, the music is very calm as relaxing an soothes you after all the battles in the routes before that town. The music in Celadon is amazing too, it is a cheery song and was a perfect choice for that particular venue. Finally, the Pokemon league music, it was very, very forceful! The tunes were extremely fierce and filled you with determination and success. It made you believe that you could win. That's all I needed to win the league.
Addictiveness 9/10
This game is highly addictive. I would play this game for hours a day, it was that brilliant! The more I played of the game the more I loved it. There were so many different things you could do in the game because there were two regions, Kanto ad Johto. In one region you could so many rare  pokemon which is always really exciting for me, just encountering these Pokemon makes me shiver, it's really fun! That's why I'm so addicted to Pokemon. But, this game had many legendary Pokemon in it which made me even more addicted to it. Many Pokemon I had never ever caught in other games, it was just thrill! And I love thrill, it's one of the little things that attract me to a game and makes me want to play it even more. This game provided all my thrill needs which is why I was so addicted to it!
The Pokemon battles are also so awesome and amazing, I'm addicted to battles, this game provided hundreds of battles, hundreds of Pokemon to defeat and destroy! The battles were fairly easy which was a downer though, most Pokemon are completely under leveled which made it almost impossible to lose to them. Having said that, it built up excitement too because you never know when a difficult pokemon battle is coming your way. Occasionally you would get a really difficult battle and that is what you love. A constant flow of hard battles is annoying and really irritating but this game gives you steady bumps and dips in battle, for example: you would get 2 or 3 easy battles and then a final hard battle, this is what I love. It's not constantly easy and not constantly hard, it's just right. It makes me super addicted to Pokemon games, especially this one.
Story 9/10
The story in this game is exactly the same as most Pokemon games, you start off by choosing your gender, your name and your rival's name, you visit the professor and he gives you the choice of one out of three possible Pokemon.Very straight forwar, collecting gym badges and eating the elite four. But, in this game there's a twist. A thief called Carlos steals one of the Pokemon at the lab and encounter him outside the lab, you then battle him. You encounter this very person numerous times throughout the game, everytime you battle him he gets stronger and stronger and sometimes very hard to beat. He will steal the Pokemon that is most strongest against yours so it is even harder to beat him. He's always where the trouble is.
You also have a rival too, you challenge him throughout the game also, to be honest he's a lot easier than Carlos as he doesn't get one of Prof. Elm's Pokemon. It's the same with Carlos, you will meet this rival throughout the game and he can pretty tough at times. Both Carlos and him are both Pokemon trainers wanting to beat the Pokemon league.
In this game you have a friend for a change, his name is Lance. Lance helps you throughout the game especially when it comes to Team Rocket. He helps you around their basements, rescuing the director from the grunts who kidnapped him from the radio tower in Goldenrod. However, Lance is actually a Pokemon trainer himself and ends up going further than gym leaders and the elite four. Lance is a really strong trainer, as he becomes the league champion and you will have to defeat him in the end. There is also a few surprises at the end of this game which is always good to see!
Depth 8/10
This game is really detailed. There's a lot of depth to it as it's not just your straight forward choosing your Pokemon, beating the gyms, defeating team rocket and becoming pokemon champion, no this game is a lot more complex than that. In this game there's a lot more challenges, there's always a twist in the story somewhere. I was never expecting Carlos, a second rival to be in this game, this adds more challenges and pressures into the game and you must go further into the game to get rid of him for good as he just shows up an blocks your path constantly.
Rescuing the director is really hard too. There is a lot of challenges associated with locating the director as you need to scurry through the Dept. Store basement to locate certain grunts and get certain information from them. Then you find out there's a key needed for the underground and that takes a lot of time getting. After many battles and challenges getting to the underground and opening to basement door you have to battle Carlos and be takes a good 10 minutes to beat. There are puzzles to bypass the first room etc. there are many surprises in that basement, I would prepare myself for them!

The game isn't that straight forward when it comes to badges. After collecting seven hard earned badges, the eighth gym leader decides not to give you the badge and that you must complete the dragon's den before obtaining it. This creates problems as you'll need certain HMs to get though the den and backtracking may be needed to locate these HMs. As you can see there are always surprises in store for you in this game which is amazing and makes the game more interesting.
There's a massive problem which prevents you from going deeper into the game especially the KANTO region as you cannot access Pewter City which prevents you from reaching many towns. The game isn't finished therefore you cannot go deeper into the story of the game. This is a huge disappointment. This refers back to what I said in graphics, the unfinished trees block you from reaching these towns as they form a barrier preventing you from reaching any nearby routes to access Pewter. This may also affect your Pokedex concerning obtaining a Lugia. The game is still very interesting though. You can defeat the league and become champion completing the game.

Difficulty 5/10
The game itself is fairly straight forward on the difficult aspect as the Pokemon are fairly under leveled in battles therefore you can defeat them very easily and very fast allowing you to progress in the game very easily. The legendary Pokemon are very simple to catch in my opinion as I caught every single one of them in pokeballs. There are never pokemon in the wild grass that are over level 36 and that's in kanto which isn't too good considering your Pokemon will be a lot higher leveled by the time you get to Kanto. Leveling up will be pretty hard if I'm honest. However, you can catch Pokemon who are level 60 in the game, an example of this is Aggron in Kanto. This will make the game fairly easy to progress in as no Pokemon you will ever meet in the game will be a higher level than him except Lugia who is impossible to get.
The league in this game are fairly easy. The first four members, the elite four are very easy to beat, you will have no problem defeating them to be fully honest. However, Lance is pretty hard as he has many Dragonites which are very good Pokemon and very difficult to beat. The game after beating the elite four is fairly simple and you will have no trouble in that aspect in progressing in the game.
Overall 8.2/10
Finally, overall I think this game is a very awesome Pokemon game. It's multi-storied which is brilliant, there isn't just one story, there are many and all contain different challenges which is very thrilling and exciting. The graphics are fairly good as I mentioned. The sound is amazing, there's no downside to it what so ever. The game is very deep which means more gameplay and fun! The game isn't at all difficult so it's suitable for all ages to play and succeed. I would definitely recommend this game to a friend and to you guys, it's definitely worth a play at least.
Thanks for reading and I hope you took the time to read it. Understand it. Please give this game a try, it's really worth it!

Shiny Gold Review   brawler456
Alright, before I jump into this review, let me start out by saying I am quite rusty, and that the scores I have given are not based off of bias, they are based off of what I truly believe they deserve. This is my sixth game review.
Graphics:
Alright, jumping right into this, the graphics are one of the better aspects of this game. The ones created show a lot of work put into them, and look quite good as well. Though this appears to be a hack of FireRed and LeafGreen, due to their being little to no color in the original gold/silver, so the work that had to go into this for the graphics is amazing. However, there are missing textures for the berries, and a few others scattered around here and there, so, graphics receives an eight from me.
Sound:
Sound is quite a rudimentary thing in the Pokémon games. From the music on the routes, to the sounds of the Pokémon, it doesn't get more basic than that. The sounds of the battles, Pokémon, etc. . . Are all basic FireRed/LeafGreen sprite and battle sounds, so for most Pokémon fans, these should be quite familiar. Sound is a 9.
Addictiveness:
This is a R.O.M hack remaking Pokémon Gold version, so you would expect there to be a lot more than usual. However, there isn't all that much. The original route Pokémon from Fire Red and Leaf Green on the first few routes appear giving the player a feeling of 'great . . . This again . . .', because lets all face it, nobody has time for level four pidgey, rattata, hoothoot, and other basic route Pokémon. As mentioned before, this game took a lot of work to create, and it is even mentioned several times before game play, that the game is in beta. As a game in beta, as well as taking the work put into it, addictiveness is a solid 8.
Story:
I'm going to start out by saying: yes, the story score is a bit low, but for good reason. The story is also quite basic in a Pokémon game: 1: Get your starter, talk to Mom. 2: Go on a journey, defeat all gyms, and the evil team. 3: Become champion. However, the beginning of this R.O.M hack can cause quite a bit of confusion. . . For starters (pun not intended), in the beginning little 'cut scene' where you pick your gender, name, etc. . . Professor Oak appears, and shows you the two sprites to pick from, boy or girl. Once you pick your name however, it shows you the image everyone knows (and sometimes hates), Gary Oak/Blue, but then that's when the Pokémon player in the know-how thinks 'wait, this isn't how it goes down in Gold', completely throwing you for a loop. It is then later revealed that Gary Oak isn't even your rival, but two people are: Silver/'Insert Name here', and a guy named Carlos. So, story is rated a 6, for pre-game/early-game confusion.
Depth:
Being a R.O.M hack meant to be Gold version, it goes quite in depth. As mentioned in the earliest 'cut scene', the only areas not available are: Pallet Town, Viridian City and Pewter City, meaning it offers quite a bit. Gold typically contains sixteen gyms as it is, so a reduction by two, isn't much of a reduction. Not to mention, there are events thrown in the new Gold version that keeps the player attached, such as the Celebi event. Depth, is rated a nine.
Difficulty:
Everyone knows how easy Pokémon games are. . . It's all the repeating motif, every. Single. Time. No difference here. Beat the gyms, the evil team, and become champion. It's like that from the start. I mean, my starter was level twenty before the first gym, which had low levels. This isn't as low as you may expect, but difficulty is a 7.
Overall:
This is an overall impressive hacks, and one of the better ones I have played, taking into consideration all the work put into it. From the sprites, to the returning sounds (which I have personally missed), this game has so much to offer, much like the original, Gold, Silver, and Crystal versions. To be able to go around this region again, and experience all the things that are new/returning, is quite nice. Overall, I rate this game a solid, 8.1.

Great hack   linksfollower
Overall the game is very unique, it can even be considered its own standalone Pokémon game. The overall feel of the game is very focused and centered on contributing to the normal feel of the original Pokémon games.
The graphics are changed slightly and it's definitely toward the better. The way the ground and trees are colored and shaded add to a nice sense of a new game.
The sound is as perfect as its ever been with the music sounding crystal clear.
I would definitely play this game again. This is one of my favorite home-brews ever made because it still looks and feels like a normal all in one Pokémon game. This is something I'll be showing to my friends for years.
The story could of done some changing. It didn't stray to far from the original fire red version which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it would have been nice to see some added time on the story.
The game is of decent length. It's about the same as any other Pokemon game you've played. I would have liked to have seen more, although I do love the fact that some gen three Pokemon made their way into the game, but I wish you could also get the legendaries from gen three.
On the difficulty scale I'd give it a seven. It's slightly more challenging then the original fire red and that helps to make it feel like a whole new game, but I wouldn't say it's unbeatable. As long as you put time into training your Pokemon, you'll be fine in the long run. If you want a more challenging game I'd recommend shiny gold x

Shiny Gold   zanderlex

Shiny Gold is yet another hack of a Pokemon game, but this time it is a brand new version of Pokemon Gold. The original Pokemon Gold had been my favorite Pokemon game of all time, so when a hack of my favorite Pokemon game comes out, I am going to jump at the opportunity to play it. There had been a few things that I liked about this hack, such as new characters , and there were also a few things that I either did not like or were confused by as well. However, those do not matter because overall, the game was great.

GRAPHICS 8/10

When you think of the game in terms of graphics, this game takes Pokemon Gold to the next level. I really like the new designs for the buildings as well as the characters. Of course, the graphics don’t look as good as those of the official Pokemon Gold remake, but they look beautiful for a hack and look much better than the original game. For the graphics, I am going to give this game an 8 out of 10.
SOUND 8/10

As for the music of the game, it’s slightly better than that of the original game. It’s not like the music is completely different for this game, it’s the same music but played differently with new rhythm and instruments. Like the way that the new music sounds and because of that, I am also going to give the music portion of this game an 8 out of 10.

STORY 10/10

Next we are going to go over the story of the game. The story is essentially the same as the original game; however there are quite a few changes that make it what it is. There are new trainers to battle, such as Carlos, and there are a ton more plot lines in addition to catching and training Pokemon, battling gyms, and taking care of Team Rocket. I feel that the story has been greatly improved and that it deserves a perfect score.

ADDICTIVNESS 10/10

Pokemon Gold was a great game that was highly addicting, and this game is basically the same thing, but with a lot more features and new things to do. Shouldn’t this mean that this game would be more addicting? Yes, I do believe that all of the new features have made this game a bit more addicing than the original game and that this is the kind of game that you will be willing to play over and over again. As for the addictiveness portion, I also give this game a perfect score.

DEPTH 9/10

Next we have the depth of the game, and again, it’s the same as the original, but there is more. Having two regions in a game is a huge plus for any game and makes the game much deeper. The of course, we have the new features, and it just so happens that it is possible to find Pokemon from generation 3 games in this one, which means that there are even more Pokemon to catch. Overall for the Depth portion, I give this game a 9 out of 10.

DIFFICULTY 4

As for the difficulty, the game is super easy. If you find yourself in a problem, all you have to do is go back and train your Pokemon some more. You know how the old saying goes, If you can’t beat them, catch them, beacues all you have to do is grow your team and you will not have any problems. My overall grade for difficulty is 4.

OVERALL 9/10

As for the overall game, I feel it’s much better than the original game for multiple reasons and I suggest that all of you give it a try because you will most likely like the game as well. My overall grade for the game is 9.

Shiny Gold   ignavusd
I thank you very much for remaking this series. I dont have HG or SS so this is a great way to replay Johto. The only reason it's a low rating is because of the not 100% remake.
The graphics are as always pretty good. Games on the GBA usually have good graphics and the Pokemon series takes advantage of that. Especially how you change around some of the areas, and update some of the graphics and palettes.
The music in Pokemon games are usually pretty good, and this is no exception. The battles, Gym Leaders, Legendaries, and overall town and route music leaves little to be desired.
Pokemon games always rank high in addictiveness, simply because the large amount of Pokemon allow for numerous teams to be formed. This causes many runs through the game, each more diverse then the last.
The story, while decent, is basically repeated throughout each Pokemon game you play. And since this is a hack remake, that forces you to fall into the same category. Other hacks create their own story but yours is still enough.
The depth, like most other Pokemon games, allows for hours to be consumed playing this games. I have no problems with the amount of time needed to complete this game.
Difficulty for Pokemon games is all up to yourself. Depending on the types and species you choose it can be hard or easy. However the GSC era was more difficult in general due to the alarmingly low levels of trainers and Wild Pokemon. This leads most people to be underlevelled when challenging the E4.

Pokemon Shiny Gold Review   TheIcarus1632
All right, this is my first post here so I hope I'm following all the rules correctly here. So to start off, Pokémon Shiny Gold version is a remake of Gold version in the Game Boy Advance format. Overall the story of it is much like Gold, however there are a few differences between it and Gold. One major difference is the addition of a new rival, Carlos, others include Gen. III Pokémon, and new trainers. My overall impression of the game is good, if it didn't say so at the beginning, most would probably believe that this was a legitimate Pokémon game. Graphic wise, it fits in perfectly with an actually Pokémon game, and is very good for a Game Boy Advance game. Going on to sound, the music of it features music from Gold, as well as some original tracks that also fit in perfectly with the game. How addictive is it? Extremely, I could honestly play it hundreds of times without getting bored of it as it is that good of a game. Story wise, there isn't many changes to the actual story, which can be taken as good or bad, because many may think that it keeps the feel of the original, while others may think that it takes away from the game. How 'bout the depth of the game? Its just as deep as the original and features and intriguing story that may get repetitive after awhile, but then again, what Pokémon game isn't? That, in my opinion, is what makes these games so fun. And finally the difficulty of the game. I found this game to be very easy, and while I wouldn't recommend it for a person first starting out, veterans and newbies are sure to enjoy it. Overall  I quite enjoyed this game. I was a big fan of Gold when I first played it and I was eager and excited to return to it in this game, I hope you all enjoyed this as much as I did. Thank you for taking the time to read this;
Sincerely, TheIcarus1632

Pokemon Shiny Gold - Good or Rubbish?   GamingMonkey
This is the famous pokemon shiny gold hack.
Let's see if it is a good remake of pokemon gold?
Graphics 9 : This is completely awesome, it's a pokemon fire red hack, yes. But the graphics surpass the fire red/leaf green graphics!
It looks like they made new art and sprites for pokemon!
This is why I give the graphics an 9.
Sound 9 : Pokemon Crystal, Gold and Silver had great music.
But with fire red music.
It is legendary!
Fighting Silver with Gary's theme is just awesome.
The game is not downgraded and is excellent!
Addictiveness 8 : Playing Silver and Gold with better graphics is just excellent.
I have to say shiny gold X is more addictive but this is still addicting.
It makes you want to re-live your gold childhood again!
Having to catch all legendaries that you could before again!
So if you are a gold and silver fan, I suggest you play this!
Story 9 : Some people downgrade pokemon saying "Oh you are ten then you become champion, the end."
But that is not all in pokemon shiny gold.
It is about the revival of team rocket!
And how they are trying to lure Giovanni out to lead them to success.
Doesn't seem good to you?
Too bad.
Depth 8 : This is better than the original Gold because their are Gen3 pokemon!
Yes, I know HeartGold did 4th gen pokemon and 3rd gen.
But you can have more pokemon on a retro game room, which is hard to get games like heartgold/soulsilver.
To be honest, it has better graphics than HG/SS!
So you can get every gen3 pokemon except legendaries.
Difficulty 5 : If you want a more difficult one, play shiny gold X.
So the difficulty is like every pokemon game on this.
Nothing much to say about this.
Overall 9.8 :
I highly recommend this to you if you loved Gold and Silver.
Re-live your childhood with better graphics, more pokemon and better sprites.
This is my review.
Probably not the best, but I hope for some good feedback.

Pokemon Shiny Gold Review   Ghost.Busters
" Introduction "
Hi every one .. Me again .. Making a review but now with Shiny Gold  .. This game is a good way to play pokemon with good graphics but in Johto region with out buying a new nintendo ds..
" Pokemon Shiny Gold Review "
Pokemon Shiny Gold is a complete conversion of the game pokemon fire red and turned it to gold and silver made by Zel.I think pokemon shiny gold is the best quality hacked pokemon game. Pokemon shiny gold is a good way for us to re-experience pokemon gold with new sprites of pokemon , new rival ( carlos ) and some pokemon that evolves through means of trading them to another player evolves by level , evo. stones and many more .. Example is Scyther , syther evolvees into scizor evolves by using a moon stone on it in htis game rather than by the normal method , trading with a metal coat .. This game also features some events that available in the pokemon gold and silver .. The game also allows me to use totodile ( my favorite pokemon in game ) as a starter . and you can also get a treecko in this game remake .. so i'm very happy after i finished the Elite 4 .. I went to kanto region ( the region in fire red ) but you can only battle at few gyms because this game is unfinished .. After you defeat 3 gym leaders in kanto . you can't go any further  , you'll encounter a ghost , actually 2 ghosts in every path you can use to go any further.
" Now With The Organized Review "
Sounds : That sound is just like a broken and scratchy CD .. But I don't know whats your opinion is ..
Graphics : as i've said this is the most / best quality hacked game .. Now the quality is great ..
Story : The story itself don't revolve on only one region .. It revolves into two different regons , which is kanto and johto regions ... Which is a good thing ..  next is the Silver / Gold story line .. The story just follows the pokemon gold and crystal's story until you finish to defeat all of the gym leaders .. ( For short the story is great )
Addictiveness : I'm very addicted to pokemon games but this time in a much higher level .. Because at the start . I'm very happy but after i finished the game I feel very .. very .. very . what do you call that term again ?!
(I can't remember it but i'll just use the word not contented )
Depth : The game is low in this category for me .. because you can beat the game in a very short period of time .. and you can't do many things in the game after you beat the elite 4 and all the gym leaders .. ( for short , the depth of the game is low )
Difficulty : In the difficulty category , i'll score 5 points . because the game is so easy .. Thats why ..
Over All : In total the game is fun .. but just before you finish the elite 4 the game will be boring ..

Pokemon Shiny Gold Review   Divine Aurora
Well Pokemon Shiny Gold is just like what the name suggests, a remake of Pokemon Gold and I have to say and give major props to the creator of this hack,  Zel for making this really authentic Pokemon Gold hack. Pokemon Shiny Gold really has the aspect, sound, locations and overall map of Pokemon Gold to the T. Every object in the hack Pokemon Shiny Gold down to even the most minor, insignificant, un-noticeable detail is exactly identical and positioned to where it would be found in original Pokemon Gold including the Pokemon them self's as well as items and cell phone booths. My only complaints with the hack is the Kanto region part of the game is incomplete and when you face a certain trainer in a house in Lavander town in Kanto, if you win the battle agaist that trainer the game freezes and takes you back to the main menu/title screen.
Graphics: 9
"What are the graphics like in Pokemon Shiny Gold?",Well Pokemon Shiny Gold's graphics are based after Pokemon Firered 's graphics so the quality in the graphics is what you would expect from Pokemon Firered.Even though Pokemon Shiny Gold is a Firered hack, the entire map from the Kanto  region as been stripped from the game and the creator remade Johto from the ground up in the hack and well its a perfect copy of the  entire Johto map and everything in each town. You can see your reflection on water surfaces and ice, the buildings were coded beautifully into the towns and line up right where they are suppose to be in coherence to Pokemon Gold. Your avatar sprite  from Gold has been coded into the game and all the Johto spirits have been coded into the game quite well, my only complaints is the Pokemon sprites look slightly distorted pixel wise with there out lining.
Sound: 10
"What can be expected out of Pokemon Shiny Gold's sound quality?",The sound quality in Pokemon Shiny Gold is what you would expect out of a Game Boy Advanced system game. The soundtrack can be heard clearly and  Pokemon Shiny Gold's soundtrack is the exact one from Pokemon Gold. The Pokemon spirit cries are the same ones from Pokemon from Pokemon Gold.
Addictiveness: 6
"Just how addicted were you to playing Pokemon Shiny Gold?", Well I for one was highly addicted to playing Pokemon Shiny Gold because I appreciate and enjoy the classic old school  Pokemon games alot more than the newer releases in the franchise. Also what made me addicted to playing this Pokemon remake hack of Gold is because I appreciate the story of Pokemon Gold seen in new up to date style graphics.
Story: 7
"What's the story like in Pokemon Shiny Gold?", The goes a little like this. The story line picks up approximately three years after the first generation in the Johto Region, which neighbors Kanto, with a new trainer in a small town similar to Pallet town. This is actually a fairly strong way to continue their adventures and keep the original spirit and charm as there could be continuations from kanto. In all Actuality...there are continuations from certain aspects of the Kanto story line, but it is still left relatively vague which means it retains the same advantages and disadvantages the original generation contained: you can build your own story how you want, but people looking for a pre-destined detailed story will be somewhat disappointed. What storyline aspects there are, however, are well put together and should satisfy the average fan.The game-play remains primarily the same as earlier games: gain a starter Pokémon, build a team and work your way through the gyms. The concept of capturing Pokémon in the wild, and building a team of Pokémon is still there, the movement between places are still the same, and the style is virtually identical. The single biggest difference between the game play is more to do with layout of the various text-based systems from the first generations and making them more user-friendly. For instance, TMs and HMs now has the number AND the name given on the spot, which is a huge advantage over the previous TM system. As well, the inventory has been improved to have separate "pockets" where different types of items can be stored. This not only helps resolve the clutter from the original inventory, but also immensely helps increase overall storage by several fold. Whereas one would have their home computer cluttered, it is possible to go the entire game without using it once as TMs and special "quest" items will no longer take up the entire inventory. The PC, speaking of which, had some minor improvements as well as there is now a limited visual feedback provided, yet one minor disappointing factor is that there isn't more space considering the influx of new Pokémon. All in all Pokemon Shiny Gold's storyline is in exact concordance with the original game its based of off.
Depth: 6
"What's the depth like in Pokemon Shiny Gold?", Well Pokemon Shiny Gold is a game of pretty decent length although the Kanto region in the game isn't complete and some of the towns aren't accessible. The game has 12 gyms in total altogether including the accessible ones in Kanto. You can catch some of the Pokemon from the Kanto region and Pokemon that usually evolve from trade  can be obtained by raising the Pokemon to a high enough level or by one of the evolutionary stones. You get the evolutionary stones in the Kanto region at Bill's house, you have to show him a certain  Pokemon for each stone you want. In the game you can participate in gambling at the game corner or going on Pokemon catching safari's.
Difficulty: 5
"What's the difficulty like in Pokemon Shiny Gold?", Well this is a throe hack and the difficulty of gym leaders Pokemon as well as the trainers is the exact same as the difficult you would expect from Pokemon Gold, low level Gym leader Pokemon and well trainers being gradually easier to beat. The game's A.I system is generally easy to over come and beat, it makes alot of mistakes and poor decisions on what moves to use on your Pokemon.
Overall: 9
Overall Pokemon Shiny Gold is a brilliant remake of Pokemon Gold, it has the  exact same map, trainers and Pokemon and building locations exactly were it would be in original Pokemon Gold. Old school Pokemon fans well diffidently enjoy this hack which brings the classic Pokemon Gold in up to date graphics and sound. I recommend this hack to anyone the enjoyed classic Pokemon Gold and well I recommend it generally to anyone who was a minor challenge and enjoys the story Pokemon Gold has to offer in better graphics.

Pokémon Shiny Gold Review by TornadoMudkip   TornadoMudkip
Okay my first Review.. I hope I do it good!
First the Graphics: They're good.
The Male and Female Characters are good designed! They look like as a Remake from the Crystal Version.
The City's and Routes are good designed as well! They also look like a Remake from Crystal/Gold/Silver.
The Pokémon Sprites are the same as Fire Red and Leaf Green.
That's why I give a 8.
Second the Sound: The Sound is good too, it's just a Remake Sound from Crystal/Gold/Silver.
I like the Sound that's why I give a 8.
Third the Addictiveness: I enjoyed the Game, I like to play it again, but other Games are fun too, that's why I give a 8.
Fourth the Story: The Story from G/S/C is amazing!
You can fight with Team Rocket and you can beat Gyms!
That's why I give a 10.
Fifth the Depths: Well in the game is a lot to do!
Sad thing is that Kanto isn't complete, with Kanto you can do much more!
That's why I give a 7.
Sixth Difficulty: The Game isn't really hard to beat, the most Trainers with there Pokémon are in a low Level!
That's why I give a 6.
Overall: This game is a really good Remake of Pokémon Gold!
You can't say easy that this Game is a Hack, it's look like a completely other game!
Anyway I love Pokémon G/S/C and because this is a Remake of that Games...(GBA Version)
I give a 9,5 for all, I really enjoyed this game!
So this was my first Review! :)

Well (sigh) this is basically Pokémon Gold but just an amazing remake of it!The creator(Zel) took his time and put in a lot of effort to make this hack lay ed out to the T, just like original Gold. The only minor difference I noticed was  that this is an  incomplete hack and if you verse a certain trainer in kanto in this game,( no matter if you beat the trainer or not)the game brings you back to the main menu. Another difference I noticed was the new rival named Carlos that's in this hack and also Pokémon evolve by stones or levels instead of trade or friendship!
Graphics I felt deserved a 10 simply because they are based off of Pokémon Firered, and therefore the best he had to work with at the time.
Sound I gave a 9 because they are the same as the original sound from Gold, and are unchanged, as well as the Pokémon's battle cries.
Addictiveness I gave a 9 because I would definitely play this hack again to simply enjoy a well, up to date in color version of Gold, and it's not that long of a hack so it would be a simple fast journey to replay so that means its less time consuming.
Story I gave an 8 because its the exact same as original Gold and I enjoyed that story very much because it have 16 gyms in it and it was a good story that introduced something new and this hack introduced Carlos which was kinda a challenge but he wasn't to hard.
Depth I gave a 7 because this is an incomplete hack but it does have a purpose to playing after you beat the elite four for johto, you go to kanto and beat kantos gym's and catch the legendary birds and you can pursue the legendary dogs.
Difficulty I gave a 5 because its really not that difficult of a game, no trainers levels of Pokémon were boosted/edited, that goes for gym leaders Pokémon, elite 4's Pokémon as well. And quite frankly it was a nice and easy game were you could beat it at your own pace, and for you old school Pokémon players like me take it nice and easy and enjoy an older school game on a Pokémon Firered graphic and color wise platform!

Pokemon Shiny Gold Review   Joey W
What it be, what it do, back at it again with another Pokémon Review!
So, I made a long review about this game prior to this, and unfortunately, it didn't post. So, I have to restart.
Now that the tiny violin is playing, let's begin!
GRAPHICS: The graphics were the same as Pokémon Firered. I gave it an 8 just because it is a classic and because it had no improvements.
SOUND: I gave this a 2 only because the Victory Road soundtrack made my ears bleed, metaphorically of course. I hated it. It was the first time I can remember that I actually muted a Pokémon game. It was horrendous. I don't blame the creator, but I could not bear it. Also, there was another moment (Goldenrod I believe) where the music was poor also. It drove me crazy. It's probably just me though.
ADDICTIVENESS: This game is highly addictive. There were some parts where I was confused on what to do next, and that hurt the addictiveness just a tad, so that is why it received a 9.
STORY: This game had a wonderful story. Who doesn't love the amazing story of the Johto region, and the many rivals this game includes? The classic, defeat team rocket, collect badges, battle rivals, and make friends. However, this story is incomplete, so it received an 8.
DEPTH: This game went deep. There was so much to do including the side quests! I was quite disappointed when I realized this game is incomplete. That is why it received an 8.
DIFFICULTY: This game was too easy. I was knocking out fellow trainers in one shot, with an occasional two hit KO here and there. The only problem was running out of PP. The difficulty was probably the reason they made a harder edition to the game.Other than that, this game was fun!
Now, don't be alarmed with the score of 6.2. This game is better than a 6.2, however, it is incomplete. I give a completed and more challenging game an 8.2. I recommend this game to those who are on the fence. It was worth playing.
Till next time, Vizzed!

It was alright, with just a few bugs :)   XxPokeGirlxX
I liked how it was pretty much a remake of G/S/C. The story's great, the original characters are redesigned nicely, and the story line's cool :). Although, I didn't particularly like the sound because it sounded a bit... clogged. Game sometimes lags. To add, the Pokedex doesn't show the whereabouts of the Johto Pokemon, which made me a bit upset because I wanted to find a fighting type to defeat Whitney. Some wrong sprites, blah blah blah. Still not as great as HG/SS, but I'm very happy you made this so that people who don't have the game nor a DS can just use this game as a substitute :)

Pokemon is the next gaming generation of gaming. If I was a game reviewer I wold recommended this game. It is hard. Get a water Pokemon because your rival will steal a Pokemon a if he does it would be a evolved Pokemon a water Pokemon and the move would take a probably a whole life force so make sure your Pokemon has evolved. I can not beat this Pokemon not even with Ember witch  is the best attack of a fire Pokemon.  Malachiab Out!Malachi Bradford Gamer

Pokemon Shiny Gold Game Description

Pokemon Shiny gold is a hack of Pokemon fire red, basically it is a remake of Pokemon gold which was originally for the Gameboy Color. It features improved graphics, new additions to the story, and more. rnThe dungeons have been redone to try and add a new experience to the game. This game is still in beta so some features are not complete yet and bugs do exist, One such thing is you can not explore all of kanto yet. The creator of the hack has also added more recurring characters, new areas to explore, and new battles.rn Also the order you earn HM's and battle gyms has been altered from gold, it follows the same order as fire red. It also features Hoenn pokemon but they are hard to find.rn-Don't think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it'll have its differences.rn-Extra battles (some'll be optionals, tough but rewarding)rn-Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find)rn-New areasrn-Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work, je)rn-Extra recurring characters (some'll hate you, some'll help you)

I'm confused as to why Nintendo of America Inc. removed this as they didn't make this specific game, and any Rom Hack that is non-profit is out of their legal handling (meaning, they cannot even touch it in terms of adding/removing).
CarBitGTSaxen 12-01-17 - 09:21 PM
Honestly: There should be a hack of this where they replace Kris with Lyra; No hate to Kris, it's a question that Lyra is criminally underrated, and deserves more attention.
