Pitfall II - Lost Caverns Box Description

Here I am, Pitfall Harry, plummeting toward the dark thunder of rushing water below... and thinking of the night David Crane called. "I hope you're well rested," he had said. Too rested, I said. I was ready for action. He asked if I'd heard tales of the legendary lost caverns of Machu Picchu in Peru. Or of a roaring, uncharted underground tributary of the Urubamba River replete with waterfalls and deadly electric eels. "Yes," I said. He asked if I knew of the infamous, cursed Raj Diamond. Or of the recent robbery of gold bars from the U.S. Gold Bullion Depository in Fort Knox. And had I heard of vampire bats? Poisonous frogs? Albino scorpions? The dreaded Andean condor? "Yes," I said. And could I still run? Climb? Jump? Could I... swim? "Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes." "Good," said Crane. "Then you'll do it?" "Of course," I said. If only I had known...

Pitfall II - Lost Caverns Featured Review

Pitfall II - Lost Caverns Review by: Marcmoney - 9/10

Pitfall II Review
Overall - 9

Pitfall II is something very different that I have never played before.  It is very fun for an Atari game.  The game plays like an adventure that can take a while to beat.

Graphics - 9

The graphics are very good.  It has very good levels in the game.

Sound - 8

The sound is good too.  The sound that interests me in the game the most was if you get hit and start back at a check point or whatever the game calls it.

Addictiveness - 8

I would play this lots of times.  It is just so much fun to play. I would play it every other week if I have nothing else to do.

Story - 7

The story is okay.  It is just a person trying to search diamonds and his niece.

Depth - 7

The game does not have a lot of features.  All you can do is jump, like Mario and dodge the enemies and make it to your destination.

Difficulty - 5

The game is not that hard.  It is easy when you get used to it.  The only hard thing in the game is if you have a hard time jumping over the enemies. :P

Wrap Things Up...

Pitfall games are not that boring.  I highly recommend trying this game out if you are good at Mario games and love playing adventure games.  The best part about this is that it keeps a high score. :)

One of the only Atari 2600 games to have background music. This game is actually pretty impressive for the Atari 2600.

Probably one of the best and under-rated game that ever came out for the Atari.

This game was very advanced for this time! I just wish Harry jumped a little higher. You have to be pixel perfect on those scorpions.

Amazing, everything amazing. Only thing is, the enemies can get on your nerves and you go back to the starting point each time you get hit, you walk back, wich takes more time than dieing and restarting or just resetting the game.

 Not bad>
