Metroid - Zero Mission Box Description

She's battled baddies on nearly every Nintendo system, and now, Samus Aran returns to her roots. Metroid: Zero Mission relives the story that started it all--revealing for the first time full details of her meeting with the Metroids. The plotline will be familiar to longtime fans of the Metroid series, but the challenges are new, the power-ups are plentiful, and the graphics and sound are supercharged. Plus, if you thought that the original Metroid had a surprise ending, wait until you get past the Mother Brain in Metroid: Zero Mission. A new twist provides a deeper adventure than ever before.

Metroid - Zero Mission Review by: ThanatosUnraveld - 9/10

So if its the FIRST mission how is it zero........... oh well MYSTERY
A long long time ago (wow I just started this review and I already lied to you guys this can only go up from here right?)  In a not so far far away galaxy lived a young man by the name Metroid, or so everyone thought until we found a shocker by the name of Samus Arran and time in the gaming world was not the same sense. But that was back on the NES and sadly the original Metroid has not aged well at all (one day ill do a review on it but not now, now imma do Zero Mission, you know for y'all who didn't know that) so what do they do with classic old games? They re release them and they did that with Metroid under the name of Metroid Zero Mission, so now we shall take a look into what this game does and bask in all of its glory.

So this game was released on the Gameboy Advance which of course looks WAY better then the NES so you would expect that Zero Mission would look a crap ton better then the original Metroid and GASP it looks a crap ton better then the original Metroid no only did Samus and the textures get a face lift that could only be done with spazers and duct tape but they also added backgrounds to well the background (so I guess that Ansem has to find a new place to take a cat nap at?) and they do a really good job at it too each area that you visit has its own different backgrounds and they are all drawn really good which is always a plus in my handy dandy notebook. And the floor and wall textures are also really well done they all have a vibrant and lush look to them you walk into Brinstar its looks different then Crateria but they all look very well done they also done it in such a way that the game doesn't look aged at all and that is also another good thing in my book. And Samus herself looks really good to she has her own distinct look and really pops out in the environment, not to much to be annoying and also not to little to get lost in the environment itself (as if that would ever be a problem in this game.) All the baddies be it the enemies, Kraid or Ridley (not Mother Brain, that much at least) has also got a face lift the most noticeable being Kraid member how UGLY and so mole rat/dinosaur he looked ( ever wondered why Ridley looked way over weight because of the fact that his leg sprite is in front of him so he looks like he's got a beer belly, the more you know) well he's still fat but they used his Super Metroid design and made him gigantic to bad he doesn't use that big body oh his and try to smash Samus. If there is anything bad I could say about the graphics it would be that some of the enemies are just re colors of other enemies that you fought before but it doesn't happen very often but if your a design nut it might (might) bug you but it doesn't bug me just noticeable when you do see it. So the game looks GREAT even for a gameboy advance game so ill give it a 8 out of 10.

Sound is something that rocks in Metroid games (well most of them *cough cough* other M, return of samus, Fusion) and sense this is a remake the developers already had music and they took some of it and remixed it and they also added onto some of the old one to make the tracks less repetitive and in some of the new areas like Chozodia have there own unique track and so does the new boss fights put into the game the soundtrack is also varied from instrumental to choral to jazzy so they really went all out when it came to what they did with the soundtrack. In terms on the sounds you hear in game they all have that same Metroid feel to them from the sound of a regular shot from the beam cannon or a charged shot, the sound of a normal morph ball bomb, the sound of a missile smacking something in the face (ooooohhhhh ya cant ever get a nuff of that sound now can we) to that weird sound Samuses suit (at least I hope its the suit or she has some weird battle cries, well I guess she is part bird............) makes when ever you take damage it just has a full array of sounds and I never really question why they choose that sound for that specific thing or action or what not (I'm not sure if they reused any of the sound effects from the original so I ant gonna say they did or didn't so ill just say they might of sounds good? Good.) Sadly I cant say a whole lot about the soundtrack because while the sound track is great it does have remixes which is good and all its just that if you liked the original you will like the remake which is the way it should be but for a reviewer you kind of wish for more they did the original tracks really really well so ill give it that and the sound effects are great to and they all sound like they belong to the world they are in, with that ill give the Sound a 9 out of 10.

Ill say now if you don't like a nonlinear game with a (sort of) big world that you have to roam around in to get anywhere then you are not going to like this game if you are then you might fine this game kind of Addictive which is a great thing because its a hand held so you could be walking around town playing it and having loads of fun then you run into a hobo and end up getting lectured about how kids now a days and blah blah blah (oops did I get a bit off subject there?)  Also if your a collect-a-thon kind of person then this game is also right up your ally because this game has ALOT of things you can collect and if your someone who likes to complete maps (odd ball in the family ain't ya) you could also enjoy this game or if you just like to feel more powerful as the game goes on this game is also for you. I personally liked this game a lot I'm a big fan of nonlinear gameplay with interesting things to find and open worlds that are fun to explorer so this game was a-ok for someone like me. If you like any of the before mentioned types of gameplay then I think you will have fun not just playing this game once put a minimum of........ 4.6 times through and with that randomized numerical value of the way ill give you real one which is a 6 out of 10.

So a metroid game with a Story unless its the lore in a Prime game there really isn't that much (same old adage of arcade design which means little to no story) but it does have (some kind of) a story which is: A Bounty Hunter by the name of Samus Arran is sent by the Galactic Federation (not going to learn bout them till Metroid 2) to kill this being known as Mother Brain after a period of time we find out a strange being known as Ridley (leader of a evil group known as Space Pirates radical name bro) is also going to the planet that Samus is on called Zebes (or Zebth) after defeating Kriad and Ridley (which you have to because there's a statue of him in a specific room, which does that mean he is a guard of Mother Brain or something like that? Just wonderin) Samus goes and fights mother Brain after that she rides off into the sunset (you know after blowing the planet into a kablewie also a new word) or so she thinks *SPOILERS* (don't know what to do just highlight the text to read if you don't want the story spoiled don't read it) after Samus escapes the planet she gets shot by space pirates and ends up on Chozoda (we ant gonna technically learn about this place to Metroid Prime) there she find outs the space pirates are on the planet for some reason and after she gets her suit back she rigs the planet to blow and escapes via escape pod and lives to be in more games *SPOILERS* They did add more to the story which is great so ill give it that much credit it might not be the grandest of stories but it works in the context of the Metroid universe so ill give the story a 3 out of 10.

How much Depth can a open world gave it collectives have well a slurp of a lot that's how much, but ill explain more If you are someone who wants to collect all the items in the game all the missile expansions, all the energy tanks, all the unknown items that wont work on your suit just yet then you could be looking for a decent sized game ahead of you and the amount of time it will take you is dependent on how smart (or desperate) you are about getting it all you are looking at a game that would take at max 8 hours (if you really suck at finding hidden stuff.) Sadly if you are not someone who really wants to get every tiny thing and just want to finish the game with the minimal then you can beat this game in under 5 hours, and of course you could pull out the 'its a hand held game' argument but still you could ask for a bit more in the overall length department sure the orignal game could be beaten quickly if you knew what to do and where to go but that doesnt mean the remake had to be so short, heck they added more areas to the remake but it still turned out to be a very short game (logic at its finest ladies and gents) after beating the game you unlock a harder mode adn the ability to play the orignal Metroid which does add to the over all things to do. Even though the game itself can be short in terms of over all length the amound of things to find in the game and the stuff you can unlock give this game the extra omph it needs to let me give this games Depth a 8 out of 10.

Metroid games arnt known to have high Difficullty with the exception of the original game and they must of thought it was so hard they made this game WAY to easy im not sure how but they ended up making Samus a bit too fit for the job she undertook and boy does it sure show i personaly think they didnt really change how the game acts to samus. What i mean is that the enemies seem to still act like samus cant shoot in all 8 directions so enemies or bosses that was/ might of been a cahllenge in the original is nothing more then a pebble under your heavy metal boot and it does feel good to mow everything down in your path it becomes aparent later on when they strip you down to nothing but a imprompto tazer that you are up to that point way over powered. Once you do get to the 'challanging' part of the game all you have to do is sneak which can be hard if your like me and suck at being silent but if your not then all this part does is just make you become a female batman (mhm smexy.) I also cant say that the controls are too difficult to get used to because its not like they do anything complex with them, you also only need to fight a handful of scripted enemies and a few bosses so that also cuts down on the amount of effert it takes beat this already easy game. If you couldnt already guess this game is very very easy, compared to the original game this game is like breathing air (its really hard for me becuase just like blinking i forget how to do it every now and then) so il lgive the Diffiucly a 3 out of 10.

Welp just like Samuses *ahem* 'zero mission' this review is coming to a end weather you liked the original or not i think that Metroid Zero Mission is a great game to play if you are gong on a long time and is not driving or if you want to buy a new gameboy game or if your just have some open time sometime and have this game and have never beaten it. If you have seen the metroid series and always wanted to see if its for you or not then i can say that this is one of the best game in the series to start with, or if you are a fan but never picked up the original or this version i think you should do yourself a soild and pick it up either way ill give Metroid Zero Mission a Overall rating of 9 out of 10, so see you next time Space Cowgirl

Metroid - Zero Mission Game Description

Pirates have stolen an unknown life-form, recently discovered on the planet SR388. The life-form, called Metroid, is in a state of suspended animation and, according to analysis, was the cause of the complete destruction of SR388. If it ever got loose, the alien could destroy countless other systems.

The pirates have taken the being to the planet Zebes and are fending off the Galactic Federation's attacks. It is up to the space bounty hunter Samus Aran to find her way into the planet's core, destroy the pirates, and take back the alien before the pirates complete their plans of world destruction.

Zero Mission takes Samus back to her first battle with Mother Brain, expanding on the original story line and action from the original Nintendo classic, Metroid, with updated visuals, new puzzles to solve, and cut scenes filling in the personal story of Samus.

The player can perform moves taken from the original game, along with additions taken from the last GBA mission, Metroid Fusion, including the power grab. This game can also be linked to Metroid Fusion to unlock special extras.

Harder Version of Final Boss
Normally, the final boss fight is pretty simple-it only takes 5 super missile hits to kill him, if you target the core.

However, if you achieve a 100% item collection rate, the boss will take 15 super missiles to kill, and will do 50% more damage, which varies with your difficulty level. So, if you have 100% on hard mode, the boss will take out three tanks with one swipe of his claw, instead of two.
Open New Time Attack mode
To open Time Attack Mode in which you get a password for your clear time and percent, choose a file that has the green+yellow Samus symbol and hit the A button. When you see the 'Start Game' option, simply hit Up, Left, Right, then Down on the d-pad and 'New Time Attack' will appear.

Exactly. I'm not really a fan of cheat codes that take the challenge of a game either. But fun cheat codes (GTA *cough*) are pretty nice to have usually. Uh, just noticed these comments about codes are very many here. Shame for a game like Metroid. :I
