Cam's MegaMan X2 review tornadocam
Mega Man X2 is my favorite game in the X series and for good reason this game rocks. I will be reviewing this masterpiece
Overall: 10Mega Man X2 is my favorite of the X series and for good reason. The plot is good, the music is great, and the graphics are state of the art. The only other X game that rivals X2 in being solid is Mega Man X3. I received this game as a Christmas gift shortly after it was released. I remember being excited to play this game. The game did not disappoint me. I still enjoy this game to this day. Mega Man X2 has a lot to offer. Games do not get much better than this.
Graphics: 10 The graphics of Mega Man X2 are a huge improvement over the first X game. X2 was the first game Capcom used a new C4 chip in the game cartridge and it really showed. X sprints are nicely done and no longer feel sluggish like they did in the first game. The background of the stages are colorful which the first X game seemed to be lacking at times. X's buster is colorful and the animation is solid. The graphics really shine in the sword battle in the computer stage and the Sigma Virus battle. Mega Man X did not have such graphics which I is not surprising considering it was the first X game. Capcom really did good on the graphics. The only game that can rival this one in graphics is Mega Man X3
Sound: 10Mega Man X2 had some of the best music in the entire X series. I have found that the music even tops the games for the playstations. The intro stage music is highly remembered its the type of tune that gets the player excited for the game. All of the maverick stage themes are solid and really sound nice. No stage really has bad music. The sounds do not seem to lag or tingle like they did in the first X game. I find that most of the sounds are really upbeat which I like. X's buster charging sound is nice too because it makes the player feel like they are consuming a bunch of energy. The sound of X firing his buster lets the player know that X is going to do serious damage. Even the enemies have nice sounds especially the X hunters. The sound of X2 only rivals another X game for its top quality and that is Mega Man X3.
Addictiveness: 10This game has a high replay value even after beating it. Mega Man X2 is so good that after I beat it I wanted to go back and play it again. Mega Man X was a good game but it just felt like something was missing. Some of the later X games have good replay value. But X2 and X3 have the highest replay value for me. The game is just addictive. As I stated earlier I got this game as a Christmas gift and I have not stopped playing it since and that was in 1996. The player will find that this is a solid game and one that cannot be put down so easily. I highly recommend Mega Man X2.
Story: 9 The story is pretty good for Mega Man X games. The story or plot may not be as good as Mega Man X3's but it is very solid. The player knows that X is returning to fight the mavericks again. However, little does the player know that X will have his hands full in this adventure. The plot thickens in the game as it opens up a new mission. A lot of the X games did not have that after X2 and X3. The only other X games that had a mission in the middle of the plot were X5 and X6. Mega Man X2 gives most of the plot away at the beginning of the game. A few of the other X games borrowed that idea, but in later X games the player has to play through the game to get the plot. I thought the plot was well written and executed nicely
Depth: 9Mega Man X2 has a lot to offer the game takes a while to beat if you want to get all items and the correct ending. They are several items to look for. A lot of the items and power up items are well hidden. So the player will find that revisiting stages is a must. Some of the items in the game really take skill to get. The depth of this game was a lot better than its precursor. Mega Man X a lot of the times were in plain sight and really did not take a lot to get. Mega Man X2 offers a challenge to get all the items. Only Mega Man X3 has higher depth than Mega Man X2.
Difficulty: 9Mega Man X2 is higher in difficulty than its precursor Mega Man X. The bosses are tougher. Some of the bosses are very difficult to beat. Examples are Magnet Centipede, Wheel Gator, Serges and Agile. Of course the final boss battle is very difficult and really challenges the player. I was challenged when I first played this game. Another thing that makes the difficulty high is some of the items require a lot of skill and creativity to reach and get. Mega Man X2 set the bar for difficulty because the other Mega Man X games are tougher and it all started with X2. Mega Man X2 is the type of game that beating it with all times is a huge accomplishment. I personally like games like that. So for new players prepare to be challenged, but its the type of challenge that is fun.

X is back! Boxia
In december of 1993, Capcom realeased Mega Man X, a spin-off game of the classic Mega Man series. The game proved immensley popular with critics and Mega Man fans alike, so Capcom followed up with a sequel the following year. But does this game live up to the popularity of its successor?
Plot: Six months after X's triumph over Sigma and his Mavericks, a trio of powerful Mavericks form a group called the X-hunters and collect the body parts of Xs recentley deceased comrade, Zero. In addition to the X-hunters, X must battle 8 more Mavericks and (preferably) recover the body parts of Zero. Whether or not you recovered all of Zeros parts does not affect the FINAL ending. For a Mega Man title, it actually feels like the producers put some effort into the plot rather than just having it be the typical "oh no wily/sigma is back stop him" kind of story. Creating 3 different main villians instead of ressurecting 1 is a fresh departure from the norm.
Graphics: The graphics are actually quite similar to those of this games predessor. One major difference however is that inside the cartridge is a C*4 chip, which allows for enhanced texture quality. In terms of style, the game is much "lighter" than its predeser and (especially) its successor. Textures for objects such as rocks, ice, power-ups, and even enemies are brighter than they were in the previous game. It's quite exiting to graphics improved from the original game.
Sound: Just like the graphics, the music is energetic and jovial. Examples of this include Dr. Cains theme and Crystal Snails theme. Such a departure from the series normally gritty nature proves to be a plus. All of the music fits with the equally jubulant stages, making for an exciting mix of visuals and sound.
Addictiveness: Like all Mega Man games, the gameplay revolves around jumping and shooting stuff up. The X games added to this by including the dash, which allowed for a great deal of satisfaction when you go dashig around, shooting up enemies, all while narrowly avoiding their attacks is all too much fun. Not to mention, with all of the obtainable powerups, there are multiple ways to play. My only complaint is that if you're trying to go for 100%, it is not feasible with just the blaster; you have to go back to some stages with certain weapons or power-ups to find other hidden areas and/or power-ups.
Depth: As mentioned above, there are a significant amount of power-ups to be collected. These include heart tanks, which increase your total health, and sub-tanks, which can be filled up with energy pellets when at full health and used to restore lost health. In addition, you can find members of the x-hunters through alternating stages after having deafeted 2 mavericks. Deafeting 1 will give you one of Zeros body parts. Deafeat all x-hunters to rebuild zero! But again, the game feels quite linear in that you can't get all power-ups immediatly.
Difficulty: Even for a Mega Man game, this installment is quite easy. One reason for this is that the stages are actually quite a bit less trecherous than many stages in the series (Weak enemies, relatively few hazards, e.t.c.). Another reason is that Most, if not all bosses can be torn through rather quickly with their weakness.
In the end, Mega Man x2 is a worthy successor to the much-beloved Mega Man x. If your a fan of platformer games for the SNES, this is just the game for you.

Same X, new threat, more awesome! Viperx199
In Mega Man X2, you play as X, a renowned maverick hunter and last creation of Dr.Light. After the death of his best friend and partner zero, a new threat comes, and X must fight the maverick leader Sigma, his army, and the X-Hunters.
The graphics in Mega Man X2 are not top notch such as in games like Star Fox, but the game itself has smooth animation and 3d wire frames, most noticeable in the final battle.
Mega Man X2 features a pretty good soundtrack, which varies with the stage and boss.
The game is very fun to play, with many different items and upgrades, as well as a fun secret or two.
The story is pretty detailed, featuring text, cut scenes, and descriptive dialogue.
The game is relatively long, it personally took me 3 days, and about a total of 5 hours for me to find all the items and upgrades in the game.
The controls in Mega Man X2 are very easy to learn. Although a good button finger is required to get some items in the game, the game is not that difficult, and difficulty increase is also very gradual.
Overall, Mega Man X2 is a very enjoyable platform shooter. It is a truly great sequel that even the most stubborn maverick hunter would like to give a try.

Megaman X2 Review CrystalKnight
Megaman X2, the amazing sequel to Megaman X. And by amazing, I mean amazing.
Graphics in this game just look better. The colors are brighter, and the animations are just as good as they are in the first game. There are a few parts of the game where there's some graphical weirdness, but it's not very noticeable, and overall doesn't effect game play. The source of the
updated graphics comes from the Cx4 Graphics Chip that the game was made with. It allowed some 3D Wireframe effects, which you can see throughout the game. (For those who don't know, 3D Wireframe effects are basically 3D graphics, or things that give off a 3D look.) I rate Graphics 9/10.
The music in this game never really grabbed me, but is still really good. There are some great songs, and 99% of the tracks in the game are great, but some songs just aren't as memorable. The worst song for me has to be the Level
Select music. It just grates against your ears, and just isn't pleasing to listen to for more than two seconds. But then again, I can remember most of the songs pretty easily, with my favorites being the intro stage music and the final boss music. I rate Sound 9/10.
Addictiveness is improved in this game, mostly because this game has a few more secrets to discover. I won't spoil anything, but there are certain collectibles that you can gain by defeating optional bosses that get you and alternate ending, which in itself is a step up from the first game. I actually feel compelled to play through the game again just to see if I missed anything, as I decided to play through this game blind. I rate Addictiveness 8/10.
Story was a bit of a low point for the original game, but in this game there's actually a little more! There's a twist or two, and some new characters that are actually important to the overall plot, and there's actually a bit of an explanation of what's going on towards the end of the game. While not a huge improvement, it still helps, and I feel that the developers actually learned that maybe having more story to their games would help. There's not much else to say, as it's a direct sequel to the first game. I will say, the plot is actually more original from the original game where the plot was bad guy is trying to take over the world and the good guy has to stop him...also they're robots. In this game, there's a bit more thought put into it. I rate Story 8/10.
Depth wise, the game has more than the original. There's more secrets, the before mentioned optional bosses, and the upgrades. In Megaman games, Addictiveness and Depth are almost always linked because of their trend of secret items/upgrades. There are also some sly tricks used to hid things from you, and I think I only found maybe half of the secret items. Honestly, it's nice to have some more depth to the game, even if it's not that much.
Difficulty...I dunno about this one guys. After playing Megaman X1 I turned to this game, and I think this game is either easier, or I've just gotten much better at these games. The game is still definitely hard, harder than most games, but I feel like maybe the difficulty was lowered just a little bit. Most of the bosses could be stun-locked to death, or were just easy all around. But to be fair, there were a few mini-bosses/optional bosses that gave me some trouble, and the final boss had me stuck for longer than all the other bosses, so I suppose it's just easier in some areas. I rate Difficultly 8/10.
Overall, this game is a stunning sequel, taking all the good from the first game and improving it. While the sound design wasn't as good as the original, it's still full of good music. The improvements to story are welcomed with open arms, and the slightly upgraded graphics make the game look a bit nicer, even with the occasional graphical weirdness. It's addictiveness and depth improved as new secrets were added and a secret ending was introduced, as well. It's difficulty, while I felt it slightly easier than the original game, is still challenging and fun.
