A Great Mega Man Game (Mega Man 3)   tornadocam
Mega Man returns to bring peace and restore order again.
Story: 8
Mega Man 3 did not come with a story in the intro stage like Mega Man 4-8 did. For some that may not be too good. Some players do not read the manual and want to have an idea before they play a game.  However, unlike other Mega Man games this one did not need an intro. If players have played Mega Man 2 or the other games they know what the plot is or at least have an idea. Here is the story from the Manual. Dr light calls Mega Man and informs him that Wily has returned to his senses. Okay if anybody has played Mega Man games we all know how that ends. Okay back to the story now I just thought Dr. Wily coming to his senses was funny. Dr. Wily has decided to become good and he and I have built GAMMA a peace keeping robot. However we need the crystals guarded by the robot masters to power GAMMA. Be very careful and defeat whoever is in charge there he is one lunatic of a guy. They also tell Mega Man to give Rush a bolt and say it is from them. The plot is kind of creative, the player thinks that Wily has returned to good and that there is a new person in charge. It really seems like Capcom was trying to trick players and cause suspense, which I really like. I also like it how in the middle of the game there is a change of the plot. Anybody who is familiar with Mega Man games can probably guess what it is. For those that are knew I will let it be a surprise. So the plot was creative and it really seemed like Capcom was trying to do something here. Thus, I give the story a solid rating of an 8.

Graphics: 10
The Graphics in this game are really good. Better than Mega Man 2's and I would make the argument they are up there with Mega Man 7 and 5's. The way the backgrounds are is very good. The color in this game is outstanding. The graphics really shine in Gemini Man's stage the way the blocks change colors is nicely done. The red waterfall in Shadow Man's stage is also a nice touch. I also like it how in Shadow Man's stage the lights glow out and you can see what looks to be glowing stars. That was a very nice touch for an 8 bit system. Even the boss stages are nicely done. The controllers are nice. Mega Man also has gained a new move and that is the ability to slide. Nowhere does the game feel like the controllers are getting stiff. The game also does not lag at all. I thought maybe in stages were you had to use the Rush Jet there would be some lagging as in some games there is, but not in this game. I also like how after defeating the 8 robot Masters you get to revisit 4 of the stages again. What is noticeable is that the stages layouts have changed. Usually, when stages change there might me a few lags but not in this game. The four redone stages are still good and have no problems with them aside from difficulty.  Capcom really did good on the graphics on this game. When I first played this game I had to remind myself that this was an 8 bit system. The graphics and controls are so good I felt like I was playing a Super Nintendo Game with a 16 bit system.

Sound 10
Mega Man 3 also shines on the sound. The sound was a huge improvement of the first two Mega Man games. Mega Man 3 had very good music. Gemini Man, Shadow Man' and Spark Man had some of the best tunes in the game. Okay its hard  not to tell you but the Wily  stages have very good music in them. Yes Wily is the bad guy did you suspect somebody else? The music is also good at the end of the game. The way the enemies sound are also nice, it shows they are serious. Mega Man's buster actually sounds like it is doing damage. In the first two Mega Man games the sounds sometimes felt like they had a tingle in them. Capcom really did good on the sound. I would argue this is what set the bar for future Mega Man games on how they are supposed to sound. The only other Mega Man games that have better sound are: Mega Man 7, Mega Man 5, and Mega Man V as well as Mega Man IV.

Addictiveness and Depth: 9
This game is very addictive. I find myself playing this one quite a bit it just that good of a game. Maybe it is because we are introduced to new characters in this game.  In Mega Man 3 the player is introduced to rush. Rush can be used as a sub, a spring or a Jet. We are also introduced to Proto Man, who is Mega Man as well as Roll's brother. The only thing that keeps this from being a 10 is you can't revisit stages like you can in future Mega Man games so that is a negative. Mega Man's 3 depth is pretty good. Items are everywhere in this stage which I think is a gift considering you can't revisit stages. Capcom makes up for it by giving players several chances to get power ups and items. Also after defeating all of the 8 robot masters you have other robots to tackle before the player can enter Wily's fortress. The extra Mega Man 3 bosses are robots that mimic Mega Man 2's bosses. So all that adds depth to the game. Mega Man 3 takes a while to beat, it is not a short game like its precursors were. Thus, I give the this game a good solid rating on being addictive and having depth. I have tried to explain what makes this game so playable even after beating it. However, I just seems like I don't have any other words to describe it. If players play this game they will know what I am talking about being a special game.

Difficulty: 8
If there is any negative besides not being able to revisit all the stages, it is the difficulty. They are a few robot masters that are easy, but notice how I said a few. Some of them make you want to scream or pull your hair out. Okay do not do that. In all seriousness, the stages are really not that bad but some of the Robot Masters like Shadow Man and Gemini man make you want to scream. The new robots after beating the original 8 in this game are difficult. Well, their stages are difficult. Yes they do use the same stages as before, but the layouts have changed. The stages that reopen are longer have more enemies. Enemy placement is also more numerous in this game compared to the first two Mega Man games. It is so easy to get trapped or knocked off into a pit in this game. The Wily stages, some of them have their tricky spots especially the ones well into the fortress those can be tough. So while Mega Man 3 is a tough game, it is not the hardest Mega Man game in the classic series. Still, I think due to the robot masters, the ones after that and some of the wily stages; I think this game's difficulty still deserves a high rating.  I would also like to add the first time I played this game, which was back in the day, it was challenging.

Overall: 9.6
Mega Man 3 is one of the more popular Mega Man games in the classic series according to the experts. I will have to say I agree with them that is up there. In my opinion this game is up there with Mega Man 7, Mega Man 5, Mega Man V and Mega Man IV. I could also make the argument that Mega Man 4 rivals this one. Mega Man 3 is a good solid game . I like how this game tried to create a twist in the plot during the middle of the game. The graphics and sound were fixed from its precursors. Mega Man one and Mega Man two felt like they were missing something. In addition, I also liked it that we were introduced to Rush and Proto Man. Mega Man 3 has all the characteristics a great game has: good depth, a good story, good graphics, very good sound, and at least some difficulty through out the game. Moreover, this game was released in America around 1990 I believe. The Nintendo Entertainment System was at is peak in 1990. I believe Mega Man 3 is what made Mega Man just about as popular as the Mario series. I played this game when I was little and here I am still playing it. The only negatives in this game are you cannot revisit stages and sometimes the stages are easy. However, those are very minor negatives. Some players may not even be bothered by them. So do I recommend this game? Yes I highly recommend this game. If anybody is new to the series I would recommend this one. If your looking for a fun game look no more. Mega Man 3 is truly a gem.

Let's see what the 3rd go around brings us.   Azul Fria
OVERVIEW
The 3rd game in the Mega Man series also known as Rockman 3: Dr. Wily no Saigo!? in Japan takes us to when Dr. Wily had seemingly reformed himself and is helping Mega Man and Dr. Light gather some crystals for a newly created peacekeeping robot named Gamma. Out of nowhere, eight more robots have gone berserk and started attacking the town once again. It's up to you as Mega Man and your new robot dog rush to save the day once again.

The game's eight bosses are (in order of creation):

Needle Man – Has a thorny crown and will shoot needles at you and also do an occasional needle thrust with his head.

Magnet Man – Has a magnet on his forehead. He will hop twice and jump into the air and throw magnets or draw you towards him.

Gemini Man – When you fight him, he splits in two and will shoot whenever you shoot. When one twin is down, the one that remains shoots a Gemini Laser that bounces all over the room.

Hard Man – Don't let the name fool you. He ain't that hard. I only assume his name is more related to his stage being related to hard hats. His attacks consists of throwing two homing punches then doing a ground shaking head dive that won't knock you on your ass like Gutsman did in Mega Man 1 but you will be frozen momentarily.

Top Man – Has a top on his head. He will throw tops that will attack your current location then he will spin towards the other side of a screen.

Snake Man –  Looks like a man in a snake suit. He has one of the most simplest AIs of all Mega Man bosses. He runs back and forth and occasionally shoots snakes and that's it.

Spark Man – Looks like a giant spark plug with arms that function like rods. He will hop around and send mini sparks then throw a giant one directly at you.

Shadow Man – Has a ninja star on his forehead and he acts like a real ninja. He'll throw a ninja star in-between his jump and slides.

Graphics - A+

I'll say the graphics are good in this game too. There are even more animated levels and some that are even interactive. Best example of that is Shadow Man's stage where there is an enemy that will turn the background off while it is on the screen and you have to scroll past it or kill it to get the background back. Needleman has needles that move in and out in the background that can hurt you if they touch you. Gemini Man's stage while not interactive has vibrant crystal colors that change constantly which is radical. Top Man has some top platforms that if you stand on them, they'll move you left and right as they travel. That's just a small example of the wonderful backgrounds this game have to offer.
Controls - A+

Controls have been tweaked a little bit for the better. In addition to the controls that carried on from Mega Man 2, you now have a new function called the slide. It is done by holding down on the D-pad and pressing the jump button. Now Mega Man can use it to get into narrow spaces. You actually have more control over Rush during his jet and marine mode as compared to the sequels which Rush will travel in only one direction while you control his up and down movements. If you have a 2nd controller, you can do a lot of crazy things like make jumps super high or be invulnerable to pitfalls by hold right on the D-pad. You can even freeze some enemies in place including bosses by holding up on the D-pad and the A button. The up button alone only slows them down.

Gameplay - A+

Each robot is weak to another's weapon. This time around, the rock-paper-scissors concept is split in two. You may remember, the live by the sword die by the sword method that killed Metal Man in Mega Man 2 but now it applies to everybody here when you fight them in a rematch as they die with seven hits of their own weapon. In addition to the 8 weapons, you can get three Rush items to use for traveling purposes. Rush Coil (have this from the start) lets you jump to higher places out of reach. Rush Jet (obtained from Needle Man) lets you fly across extremely long pits and spikes and you can control where you go. Rush Marine (obtained from Shadow Man) is like the Rush Jet but used underwater but it's mostly useless and can only be summoned if in the water or if Rush lands in the water or it'll go back up.

Here is a small guide to the weaknesses of the bosses in order to their creation:
Needle Man (weak to Gemini Laser)
Magnet Man (weak to Spark Shock and Shadow Blade)
Gemini Man (weak to Search Snake)
Hard Man (weak to Magnet Missile)
Top Man (weak to Hard Knuckle)
Snake Man (weak to Needle Cannon)
Spark Man (weak to Shadow Blade)
Shadow Man (weak to Top Spin)

You will meet whom will turn out to meet your brother Proto Man/Blues in Gemini Man's stage but won't fight him but you will fight him in Hard Man's, Magnet Man's, and Shadow Man's stage.
Once you do away with all eight robots, you expect to face off against the mastermind behind all the trouble? Guess again. You will revisit four of the previous stages: Spark Man, Shadow Man, Needle Man, and Gemini Man. They are redesigned and you will fight two rematches against bosses from Mega Man 2 in each stage. Spark Man's stage has Metal Man (weak to Hard Knuckle and Magnet Missile) and Quick Man (weak to Search Snake and Gemini Laser). Gemini Man's stage has Flash Man (weak to Needle Cannon and Gemini Laser) and Bubble Man (weak to Shadow Blade and Spark Shock). Needle Man's stage has Air Man (weak to Spark Shock and Magnet Missile) and Crash Man (weak to Hard Knuckle and Top Spin). Shadow Man's stage has Wood Man (weak to Search Snake and Needle Cannon) and Heat Man (weak to Top Spin and Shadow Blade). From here is the final fight with Proto Man who is using the name Break Man. He is weak only to the normal buster shots. When he is defeated, Dr. Light reveals that Wily has made off with Gamma.

Off to Dr. Wily's Castle and you fight through six stages this time. The first stage can be completed easily without having to use the Rush Marine. The Rush Jet however is still needed to get to high places. The boss is a turtle making machine that spews turtles weak to Shadow Blades and Hard Knuckles. Defeat all five turtles to destroy the machine. You will meet up with an old friend from the first Mega Man named the Yellow Devil Mk. 2. He is much easier to fight as you can also slide under some pieces. A good exploit to use against hi is getting on your Rush Jet and plugging him rapidly with buster shots as he has no damage protection when hit. The third stage is not so hard but you will have to deal with a series of platforms that will move left and right depending on the placement of the platform and you got to make it to the top of the ladder without hitting the spikes on the sides. The second screen is the same except for some spikes place in the middle in one section. The boss is three copies of Mega Man. All three can hurt you and you can only hurt one. You can use the Search Snake to scope out the correct one but if you are lucky, use a well timed Top Spin on the correct one and you can kill all three of them instantly. The fourth stage introduces an enemy that is similar to Guts Man. When a rock falls, it will throw it at you. You will come across the room with eight capsules. This is the boss rematch room. As stated before, you can kill the bosses with seven hits of their own weapon. After this point, you will have two stages of just a straight boss fight without enemies. The first fight is a two parter as the machine comes marching in. Four spark shots on the gun and on to phase two. As with Yellow Devil Mk. 2, you can rapidly blast him when you are on the Rush Jet as he lacks damage protection. The Gamma fight is easy too. Get to the top next to it using Rush Jet or Rush Coil and hit the head with Shadow Blade or Hard Knuckle then Wily appears. Use the Search Snake or if you are gutsy, one well timed Top Spin will beat him in one hit. Beware, that his arm spikes will kill you if you touch them.

Difficulty - 3

While this game is not eactly too hard, you will run into some frustration in some levels. You can make the long jump easily with Rush Jet in Snake Man's stage but it is still possible to do so without it. Just like with the previous games, you can be invincible for a few seconds after taking a hit including against spikes as of Mega Man 2. Another danger in Snake Man's stage is falling off the edge nearby his lair. It's best to stay towards the right edge in case a missile hits you but you stay on the platform. The bosses also have a lot of difficulty if you try to fight them first for the most part and it is best to defeat a boss they are weak to so you can make the fight easier. That's what makes it best to start against Magnet Man, Top Man, or Snake Man's stage first since their AIs are simple. Remember that the weakness chart is split in two. Snake > Gemini > Needle > Snake and Magnet > Hard > Top > Shadow > Spark (+ Magnet) > Magnet. The MM2 boss rematches are a little tougher mainly the fight against Quick Man. He is the most frustrating one of them all as he is all over the place when you try to shoot at him and he never stays still. The game is all downhill once he is out of the picture. The others are not so bad. The game even throws in the spike ceiling for the Bubble Man fight. Watch out for that folks. It's weird having the final Wily stages being easier than the boss stages. It is what it is.

Sound/Music - A+

The soundtrack is not as good as Mega Man 2 but I can dig them. My favorite songs out of this lineup are the ones by Top Man, Needle Man and 3rd & 4th Wily stage and final Wily Stages. No redundancy on the songs this time around as far as I know so that's a good thing right there.

Replay Value - B+

Replayability is not to much keen as it was before except for a few bosses having secondary weaknesses that you want to discover. The password feature is actually special in this game as depending on the placement of the ball you can determine how many E-Tanks you want the start with and which bosses which boss (or 2 bosses if using the blue balls) will be dead when you start the game from the password screen. The game has a lot of depth within it especially with the added rematches with the bosses from Mega Man 2 though in the form of Doc Robot but that's no biggie.
Overall - A

Rumor had it that this was meant to be the final Mega Man game before Mega Man 4 was made but if it was then it would have went out with a bang. Dr. Wily seemed to have died at the end but when you go through the list of created robots by Dr. Light ending with Proto Man being Mega Man's brother, you will see Dr. Wily's capsule land in a tree. I sure had a blast with this song. A treat that you can use at the end is that if you hold the up button on player 2 controller then you can hear the whole ending song. You can do the same on the Wily stage map screen to hear the whole song. Good job Mega Man. The day is saved yet again at least until Mega Man 4.

Mega Man 3 - Yet Another Step-up For The Series   geeogree
Released 2 years after the wildly successful Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3 burst on to the scene and took the Mega Man franchise to the next level. Dr. Wily has seen the error of his ways and has started to work with Dr. Light to create a peace-keeping robot called Gamma. 8 robots (of Wily’s I assume) that were in charge of mining operations have gone rogue and taken the 8 crystals that were powering Gamma and hidden them. Along with the new plot there are some new characters. The first one is Proto Man who appears in different stages of the game and confronts Mega Man. Mega Man must defeat him in order to progress on but never destroys Proto Man. Another new character, and a very important one, is Rush the dog. Rush comes with 3 different abilities that are essential in order to beat them game. Without understanding these abilities and mastering them completion of the game is impossible. The last new addition to the game is the slide technique. Many bonuses in the game are hidden behind 1 block high openings that require Mega Man to slide through in order to get them. This adds some variety and difficulty into the game that wasn’t there in Mega Man 2.
Graphics 9/10 – The overall graphics didn’t change much from Mega Man 2 to Mega Man 3 but they did improve. The improvements are generally pretty subtle but noticeable if you are looking for them. All the monsters are all well designed and fit the level in which they are placed. This isn’t anything new but it feels like the variety in bosses adds to the variety in monsters in each level. The levels themselves are also really interesting and unique yet again. I’ve always enjoyed the uniqueness of each level design and the visuals that are created because of that. The backgrounds are improved, for some levels, enough that I feel like the graphics deserve a bump from the 8 I game Mega Man 2 to a 9 for Mega Man 3.
Sound 9/10 – Just like how the graphics were improved in small ways from Mega Man 2 to Mega Man 3 so was the sound. Music for each level was again unique and fit very well to the level design and boss theme. The boss themes also change each time and definitely improved compared to Mega Man 2. Not much else to say about sound though. It’s still an NES game and no matter how good the sound is it was limited by what the NES was capable of at the time. However, for the NES I thought the music was well done.
Addictiveness 8/10 – I remember owning this game as a kid and playing it over and over again. At first I played it through multiple times in order to learn which powers beat which bosses the fastest. Once I knew that beating the game became a lot easier. After that I would play the game through and randomly pick bosses to see if I could beat them game without always having the best power to beat the boss. I would also do the order in reverse so I had the power from the boss that the current levels boss power would defeat easily so I would never have an advantage.
Even without doing stuff like that I feel like this game was a great game. Level designs were unique and varied with what was required to beat them. The addition of Rush made tackling tough areas easier because he provided you options you never had before. Plus, there is something about having a dog help Mega Man through his journey that makes it more enjoyable.
Story 7/10 – The story for Mega Man 3 was a definite improvement over Mega Man 2. At first it seems like the same old story. 8 robots running amok and Mega Man is needed to stop them. However, it appears that this time Dr. Wily is on your side. You also have a companion named Rush that helps you through the levels as needed which helps keep things a bit more fresh. However, the story really takes a leap compared to Mega Man 1 or 2 when Dr. Wily turns on Mega Man. After collecting all 8 crystals for Gamma Dr. Wily takes the opportunity to steal Gamma and becomes evil again. Well, more accurately he reveals what his true intentions were the whole time. After this Mega Man is again tasked with going to Dr. Wily’s fortress and defeating more robots, Gamma and Dr. Wily himself. Interjected into this entire story is Proto-man. Is he friend or foe and how will his influence affect Mega Man’s attempts to stop Wily? You’ll just have to play the game to find out.
This is in no way a revolutionary story but compared to the very basic stories from Mega Man 1 and 2 it is much more interesting than the previous games managed.
Depth 7/10 – There is certainly more depth to this game than the previous 2 games managed. The story alone adds depth that was lacking in the first 2 games but there are many more levels to complete this time around as well. There are also more extra items that can be collected using either the slide technique or Rush. This keeps the levels more interesting and helps make them feel a little less linear. There isn’t much else that could do done to prevent that problem without making the levels have direction splits that allowed options on how to complete a level. I believe this happens in later Mega Man games but Mega Man 3 remains just as linear as the first 2. The only significant option you have as to how to progress through the game is the level selection at the beginning and after Dr. Wily turns evil again. Beyond that everything is still very linear. However, for the time that was how most games operated and can’t be seen as a major fault.
Difficulty 8/10 – I found Mega Man 3 to be just as difficult as its previous games were. It is even considered by some to be one of the most difficult of the NES series. Like the previous games one missed jump quite often meant death for Mega Man. I would say that the addition of Rush did help the difficulty in some areas. Having the Rush Jet made some otherwise difficult looking areas of a map simple to beat. These were not common but Rush did come in handy many times to overcome what would otherwise be a difficult area or monster.
Boss difficulty remained the same. Without the right power up from a previous boss some bosses were nearly impossible to beat with the normal blaster. The vulnerabilities were sometimes laughable like Gemini man being weak against snakes. Not sure where the logic is on that but I imagine it was simply so that every boss had a weakness to something. Overall though the game still poses a good challenge that only becomes easier after multiple successful plays through each level.
Overall 9.5/10 – I do feel like Mega Man 3 was a better game than Mega Man 2. Mega Man 3 took all the good things from 2 and added even more good on top of that. I owned and played Mega Man 3 when I was a kid so I have a lot of nostalgic feelings towards the game which might skew my opinion of the game up a bit. However, I don’t feel like I’m exaggerating the quality of the game or the series at all. Mega Man 3 is another classic side-scrolling adventure that is sure to be enjoyed by anyone who has enjoyed previous or subsequent titles in the series.

Another Great Mega Man game.   name543
Well, here we are with another Mega Man game. I recently beat Mega Man 2, and decided to go right to Mega Man 3 afterwards. I admit, I was surprised that I enjoyed it almost as much as I did the second game in the series. They're both great games, but there are different reasons for why I like each. Anyway, I suppose I should stop comparing this game to Mega Man 2 and get on to what the review is really about, judging this game based on it's own merit. So, without further ado, my review of Mega Man 3.
Graphics: It's hard to talk about graphics in this game, due to them being very similar to Mega Man 2. I will try to say what I can about them though. As you'd expect, the environments and enemies look very good, maybe even better then Mega Man 2 at some points. Though, the lack of real backgrounds for many stages gets a bit disappointing, such as the dull green that fills the back of Snake Man's level. This isn't a huge problem, due to the fact your attention is almost always on the foreground. The animations are just as good if not better then the last game, with nice movement and animations from enemies. It might be even better, seeing Mega Man's slide move he has gained, which he does pull off without a hitch normally. Really, the only large problem is the flickering, which doesn't get any better from Mega Man 2. It can be annoying, but it's easy to deal with it you ignore it. I give the graphics an 8 out of 10, for being more of the same from Mega Man 2, with some small differences in the characters and environments.
Sound: I'm sorry to say that I don't enjoy the music quite as much as I did in Mega Man 2. This is mostly due to the fact there aren't as many great songs in the game. Sure there are some amazing tracks, but most don't really make me remember them for long periods of time. In fact, I forget most of the game's music by this point. This isn't hugely awful though. While I don't remember the music, I know it was nice to listen to while I played it, and that it served it's point well enough while it lasted. This doesn't mean all the music is bad though. In fact, it has some of my favorite songs in the series. The opening theme along with the ending theme are both very good. Another great theme in the game is the one Proto Man is given. The problem though is the lack of other memorable themes. Other then that, there's not much to say about the sound effects, with them sounding about the same as Mega Man 2 and being pretty good. Each weapon gives a noticeable noise when fired, so it's satisfying to attack with each weapon. I give the sound an 8, for having some of the best themes of the series, but not having the same quality spread throughout.
Addictiveness: Luckily, Mega Man 3 is very addictive and fun to play through. The controls remain mostly simple, though adds a new feature in the slide button. It also adds one of the most integral parts to the series, Mega Man's robot dog, Rush. Rush tends to be superior in every way to the old items you were given in Mega Man 2. He can fly and bounce high, which already gets rid of the need for items one, two, and three in the last game. He also has a marine mode, which makes water easier to travel through. This helps the game get it's own niche apart from the others.  Though the game is very fun and addictive, I didn't find it as fun to play through as the last one. This might be because the stages aren't designed as well in my opinion. Don't worry though, you should have plenty of fun going through it. It helps that the Wily Stages are all pretty good this time, with no overly cheap bosses to fight. I give the addictiveness for this game a 7. It has it's ups and downs, but is a very solid and fun game.
Story: Story is the definite area where Mega Man 3 surpasses it's predecessor. It starts out after the events of Mega Man 2. Wily claimed he had reformed and wished to go back to the side of peace. It seems strange that Dr. Light trusts him, but the two were partners and friends for a long time. It makes sense he'd want to trust Wily again. The two decide to build a giant and very powerful robot that will be able to keep peace across the world. The only problem is that it takes a powerful energy source to keep it running. This is why the two create eight powerful robots that will be able to mine for the power sources the new weapon will need. Something goes wrong though as the eight robots begin to get violent and attack, forcing Light to send Mega Man to stop them. There's also a robot known as Break Man that attacks Mega Man at certain points of the game, seemingly without reason. The story after this does get pretty interesting at points, and ends with what was a huge plot twist at the time. Also, unlike the one from the previous game, it has actually stuck and wasn't immediately changed. I think this game has a very good story, and gets a 7 out of 10 for it. While it's not huge and complicated, it is very good for a Mega Man game.
Depth: This game does have more depth then the previous game also, mostly due to the fact that it has more stages and enemies you need to fight before you win. The game starts off with the eight robot master stages, but don't expect it to end as quickly as last time. There are a few more stages before the final rush to the end, leaving you with more to do before you put the game down. There isn't much other then this though, due to the lack of extra modes. Even the last game had a difficulty select option. This one lacks that, so has a longer story, but just has one mode to play through. I still really enjoyed it though, and felt the amount that was here was enough to play through. It should only take a few hours to beat fully, but once again, there's still the robot master weaknesses to learn. Learning how to fight the bosses is a large part of the game, and it gets even more complicated when some old foes add into the mix later on. I give the depth a 7. It's long for a Mega Man game and has some long levels to go through, but doesn't have much other then the normal story.
Difficulty: This game was pretty hard to go through, and it's partially because of the weapon selection as you go through the levels. There are no definite overpowered weapons, which makes it harder to play through due to the enemies you'll be facing that can put up a larger challenge now. Some of the weapons you do get aren't as good also. Some of them, like the Top Spin, are seemingly useless except for the few situations where they prove to be helpful. This leads to a larger challenge during many levels, with deaths more common. This isn't a complete bad thing though, as I never felt the combat was cheap. I always felt the last game had situations where it was just cheap luck on if you had the right weapon energy for beating a boss. There was none of that with this game, each enemy being able to be hurt by more then one of your weapons. So, I consider this a harder, but more fair game then it's predecessor, which I definitely enjoy. The robot master also provide a good challenge, each one having a fighting style that you can memorize to know how to fight back well. Platforming also can be difficult, with some jumps just barely being missed. My only problem though was one part where blocks appeared along with a magnet that pulled you toward it, screwing up your jumps. Overall, the difficulty gets an 8 from me. It is a very hard game where you might die often from tricky enemies and platforming that you barely make. But, it was barely ever cheap.
Wrapping up: Mega Man 3 had a large amount of hype to live up to, being the sequel to a game that is so universally loved. The good part is, it manages to be fun in it's own way, with a much more developed story and the adding of Rush in place of items 1, 2, and 3. It also had some great music and got rid of some of the more overpowered weapons.  Though it had it's downsides and is sometimes considered inferior to the last game, it is still a really fun experience. I consider it about equal with what came before it. Both were great in different ways. The game gets an 8.6 from me, and I'd be glad to play it again at any time.

Mega Man 3 review - the blue and cyan man is back   Zircron Swift
There have been many debates on weather which game is considered the best Mega Man game for the NES. In the end, the choice is either the second one, or the third one. Some say the third one, with it's sliding and nostalgic parts, is superior to the second one. Others say the second one is better with it's classic game play and epic Wily stages. People have also debated weather which sound track is better. I won't be discussing witch one is better, but I will review this game to find out for myself which is better. So, lets jump right in and have a look at this game.
The first thing that strikes you is the opening music. It is just amazing. It's worth having a listen to all the way through, and is diffidently one of the finest songs in the Mega Man NES games. This game doesn't have a difficult mode like the second game, just "Start" and "Password". What if I want a challenge? Maybe this will be a challenge enough, as I have heard that thing game is harder than the others. So Dr Wily has apparently turned over a new leaf, and is helping Dr. Light create a peace-keeping robot Gamma. However, eight robots have gone hay-wire and have taken eight power-crystals to power Gamma. There isn't a cut-scene, so it must be in the instruction booklet.  So, same as the first two, you have a choice between what Robot Masters you get to fight. There are eight, and seems to be a recurring in the NES games. The Robot Masters are each unique, but they might be pushing the creativity a bit with "Hard Man" and "Needle Man" (I'm glad he wasn't names "Spike Man" =P), but is still a nice selection. When you beat a Robot Master, you gain their weapon. Each Robot Master has a weakness from another Robot Master. Some are immune to some attacks, though.
Now in the first two games, the weaknesses made sense most of the time, but some just don't in the third game. For example, would you guess that Gemini Man is weak to Snake Search? HOW? Is he afraid of snakes or something? Is he allergic? The level design is pretty darn good. You have disco-balls that darken the room, weird balls that block your path that can be destroyed, then spawn enemies, and a mysterious red robot with a shield and scarf that battles you every now and then (gee, I wonder who that could be =P). A couple of the new features is that you now have a dog: Rush. You start off with Rush-Coil, but will later get Rush-Jet and Rush-Marine, which helps later on. Another one is you can now slide by pressing Down on the D-Pad and the Jump Button. This helps you get out of sticky situations and dodging stuff that bounces.
The password system is a little more complex than the second game. You need to place red and blue dots for the password. As if one colour wasn't enough. But a nice thing is you get the password after every level and at a game over, weather you like it or not. In fact, the game over music has to be the happiest tune for when you failed a game. Speaking of music, some songs are pretty awesome, such as Spark Mans stage. Although some stages, their music seems more relaxed than the second game, giving a different atmosphere in the game. It's not that big a difference, but I prefer the more hardcore 8-bit music.
The game offers a challenge, but it's not as hard as I though it would. True, after you beat the eight Robot Masters, you gotta play another four levels that you already played that are harder than before, with some familiar faces before Wily's castle (Where does he get the money for these castles? Seriously, has he got some insurance on his castle? Is there some sort of Evil Villain company that supplies people Like Dr. Wily? Maybe there's some promotional deal "Get defeated by something Blue, and we'll double what we normally give you!". This makes sense, this explains why Dr. Wily and Eggman are loaded every new game with expensive castles and robots, but Browser only get's these medieval castles. Maybe he's saving for some galactic adventure....), but that's the height of it's difficulty. The Wily Stages (for some odd reason, they call him Wiley, with an "e". Why? I'm not sure), are short and easy, but a little too easy for my liking. The bosses don't even put up much of a fight, but I like some on the nostalgic-ish bosses. The graphics are slightly improved, the detail on the New robot masters are greater than those from the second and first game.
Overall, I give this game a 8.4/10 Some of the feature in this game are a great add on to the game-play, and the music isn't half bad, but the game is a bit to easy at the end for me. The nostalgic moments in this game are priceless for those that have played the first two games. If you liked the first two games, you'll like this one.

Mega Man 3 review for the NES!   G@mehe@d
Mega Man was released in 1990 by Capcom for the NES. The game has better graphics then it's predecessor's and some extremely catchy music. There are several innovations in this game, like the ability to use rush coil which is your robot dog to jump to very high places, speed past danger on the rush jet, and go through underwater levels with ease with the rush submarine. The jet and the submarine are unlockable after defeating specific robots. There are new robots that have some unique powers, the robots are, spark man, snake man, needle man, hard man,  top man, magnet man, gemini man, and shadow man. Each has a special power that you will receive after you defeat a one of them. There is also Protoman and 4 mystery robots you have to defeat after you defeat the 8 main guys.
STORY: The story starts out with Dr Willy. Having his evil schemes destroyed twice, he works with Dr. Light to create a peace keeping robot called " Gamma". Then there are robot masters that are set in charge of mining areas. These robots then go crazy and they then steal 8 of the power crystals from Gamma. Mega Man is sent with his robot dog rush, to retrieve the power crystals and return them to Dr Light then once again Dr. Willy becomes evil and steals Gamma and takes him to his fortress. Then Mega Man must go in the Fortress and defeat Dr. Willy and destroy his fortress!
GRAPHICS: The graphics are impressive. More detailed levels and enemies. The graphics are a lot more defined I'll just put it to that.
SOUND: The sound is great, you can tell immediately when you hear the title screen song. Its surprisingly long and complex. Then you hear the music in the levels, they are way more complex and upbeat then the previous title. I actually remember these songs the most because I enjoy the more upbeat music.
ADDICTIVENESS: This game is very addicting and fun and I bet that you will think the same way when you play this game.
DEPTH: They put a lot of levels and stuff in this game. There are 21 levels, 11 weapons 8 from the robots and the 3 rush coil item, Larger levels in my opinion and more enemies. So this game has about twice the amount of levels then Mega Man 1.
DIFFICULTY: The game is more difficult then the first one and has about the same difficulty as the second one. You will have a harder time finding the weapon that works on a boss.
OVERALL RATING 9.3
The game has a lot of new features and it has better graphics and sound then the previous titles. The game could be a little less difficult but there's really not much problems for this game. I highly recommend playing this. It's a great game.

Mind Blowing Game: The Review   Homerun2001
This game is one classic game that will never be forgotten. The game play is very tight. And with the new slide ability, there are so many things you can do now like, slide under enemy attacks, slide in tight spaces, and slide through the door. Also you have a new partner: Rush the robotic dog. He can either turn into a submarine, become a hover board for Mega Man, or he can have Mega Man bounce high.
GRAPHICS: The graphics in Mega Man 3 were just like any other NES game but what made them stand out was the backgrounds. The two backgrounds that caught my eye were Shadow Man's and Top Man's. Very colorful and alive.
SOUND: The sound and music were great. I mean the title theme was the best music in the game. It was so wonderful to hear that many sounds in a NES game and have it all sound good. All the normal stages also had that kind of music as well.
ADDICTIVENESS: This game is very addicting. That is because it's very fun to play all those levels because of how hard and crazy they all are. For instance, in Hard Man's stage there is this part where you have to use Rush's jump ability instead of using a ladder and also while trying to dodge the Hammer Joe's projectiles.
STORY: The story is huge and here's the story to prove it. After Mega Man defeats Dr. Wily in Mega Man 2, he suddenly becomes a good guy and makes eight more robots with the help of Dr. Light. Then the robots "malfunction" and Mega Man has to stop them. Mega Man then meets a new character named Proto Man. While Mega Man is gone Dr. Light and Dr. Wily start to make a super robot. Before it is complete, though, Dr. Wily takes away the unfinished robot to have it do his bidding. After Mega Man defeats all eight robots he goes back to check on the Doctors. He finds out a bout Dr. Wily and goes to go get him. Dr. Wily also has remade four of the Mega Man 2 robots' powers and put them into four Doc robots. After Mega Man defeats those robots, him and Proto Man have a big battle. After chasing off Proto Man, Mega Man goes to defeat Dr. Wily. When Mega Man gets to Dr. Wily, he finds out that Dr. Wily has completed the super robot. The battle rages on and Mega Man barely defeats the super robot. He has once again, defeated Dr. Wily. That is the story for Mega Man 3.
DEPTH: The game is a long one and has many things to offer. The story also helps me explain that depth. Mega Man 3 is one of the biggest Mega Man games I have ever played.
DIFFICULTY: The difficulty of the game is huge but still easy. It's usually the level that's harder than the boss. Like in Needle Man's stage there are spikes and needles and bottomless pits. Spikes are a one hit kill for Mega Man. And you only have a limited supply of health, with of course the E tanks which restore all your energy. One of the hardest games I have ever played on a NES.

Mega-Man 3 Review   sunkenship124
Mega-Man 3 is one of my favorite Mega-Man games, primarily because it was the first game in the series I could actually beat. It's not an easy game, but after you beat it the first time, you should be able to complete it easily the next time.
Graphics: Mega-Man looks exactly the same as the other two times, just in different flavors. The backgrounds are colorful and very detailed for a NES title, and are very nice to look at. The robot masters all look unique, and are very detailed for their time. The enemies are different in every level, which makes the areas feel very different. Overall, the graphics are of top-notch quality for the NES.
Sound: Like all Capcom games on the NES, the music is fantastic. Personally my favorite song in the game is the intro theme, Proto-Man's theme is a close second, but it's only because you don't get to hear it a lot. Every stage has its own theme to add to the scenery, which helps each area feel different. This game has the second best soundtrack in the series, with my favorite being Mega-Man 2.
Addictiveness: As this was the first Mega-Man game I have beaten, I would like to say that if you plan on replaying, then challenge yourself by using different weapons on bosses to make the experience different. A great thing about this series is the fact that you can play any stage in any order, this means that you can beat a boss without using their weakness.
Story: I rated this low because there is story, but it's not really done well and there's not much. You all should know what the story of Mega-Man is anyway. The only major difference in this game is that it's the debut of Mega-Man's brother( I'm not sure that's how that works), Proto-Man: the mysterious, red, scarf-wearing robot with a shield. Other than that, you do the same old task of defeating eight robot masters, taking their abilities and going through a fortress to stop Dr. Wily( it's not even a spoiler because he always does this).
Depth: I already have said why Mega-Man games are so good, but I'll go over it again. You can select any level you want or you can follow a specific order of levels. This opens up more replay value because you can play in a different order every time you play. You can even play the game using only your Mega Buster, and reflexes.
Difficulty: I rated this low based on how easily I can beat the game. It's not a game that you can beat after playing it for your first time, but you will probably have better runs through it after beating it. You will have enough of a challenge to make beating bosses feel like an accomplishment, but not too much to make you uncomfortable. It is actually easy to pick up and play and still hard enough to satisfy your need for a good challenge.
This has been my Mega-Man 3 review, I hope whoever reads this has enjoyed it, and I would appreciate any constructive criticism.

Mega Man 3 (NES): Will Someone Get this Guy Out of Here?   SavatoX
SavatoX: Mega Man 3. Tied with Mega Man 2 for being considered the best game in the series. Is it as good as people say? Let's find out--
X2: HELLO, EVERYBODY! I'm BACK!
SavatoX: X2? I thought I killed you off back in an earlier review!
X2: Nope! Through a convenient plot twist that SO does not involve a certain mad scientist, I have been granted the power of invincibility! Also, killing me sends you back to the beginning of the level.
SavatoX: Whatever. What do you want?
X2: You're reviewing Mega Man 3, my favorite Mega Man game! And you didn't invite me!?
SavatoX: X2, you were SO ANNOYING last time we did a review together. Now get out of my room!
X2: Nope! I'm here to stay!
SavatoX: *facepalm*
SAVATOX AND X2 PRESENT:
MEGA MAN 3 (NES)
SavatoX: The graphics and sound are among the best on the system, as with every Mega Man game. That's to be expected from a game like this.
X2: There is a grand total of ONE song that I didn't care for: Hard Man's theme. Making this my favorite soundtrack in the NES library.
SavatoX: However, we do have to knock down the graphics a few points for one reason: SPRITE FLICKER. Granted, it's not as bad as in Mega Man 2, but it doesn't look good regardless of how rare or common it is.
X2: Gameplay-wise, it's the same as the first two games, except with two neat additions: Rush and sliding. Rush just might be the best thing that's ever happened to Mega Man. And not just because I love dogs.
SavatoX: What Rush does is he can be used as a trampoline, a submarine, or a jet. I personally prefer the Rush Jet form you get from beating Needle Man.
X2: The slide move also offers many opportunities for unique level and boss design, see Needle Man's stage and the Top Man's boss fight.
SavatoX: Speaking of the Robot Masters, they are AWESOME! They are WAY better than the ones from Mega Man 2.
X2: Dude! You do realize the amount of hate we're going to get for that, don't you!?
SavatoX: Yeah, whatever. COME AT ME!!!
X2: *shoots him* Anyway, like he said, we consider 3's Robot Masters better than 2. Don't get us wrong, 2's Robot Masters weren't bad, some of them were really good, they just don't appeal to me as much as 3's.
SavatoX: Even the one's that aren't good like Top Man and Needle Man do have some redeeming qualities. Just keep that pitiful excuse for a Robot Master known as Hard Man FAR AWAY FROM ME.
X2: But when Mega Man 3 does a good Robot Master, they pretty much nail it.
SavatoX: There's Snake Man, Spark Man, Gemini Man, and my personal favorite, Magnet--
X2: And then there's MY personal favorite, Shadow Man.
SavatoX: Did you just interrupt me?
X2: No! Anyway. Once you beat the eight standard Robot Masters, you'll be forced to play through harder versions of Spark Man's, Needle Man's, Gemini Man's, and Shadow Man's stages. And while you're at it, you'll get to fight the Robot Masters from Mega Man 2 all over again! Have fun with that since you don't have their weapons any more! You're not taking down THIS Metal Man in one hit! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
SavatoX: Are you going to let me talk in MY review?
X2: Nope. And then after beating Mega Man 2's Robot Masters, you go through a castle for the third time. And it's the EASIEST CASTLE EVER!
SavatoX: *AHEM* Yellow Devil.
X2: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
SavatoX: Surprisingly though, the Yellow Devil is nowhere near as frustrating as in Mega Man 1.
X2: To wrap this up, Mega Man 3 is a truly stellar game. The Robot Masters are awesome, the difficulty is fair, and this game truly is the highest quality Mega Man game on NES.
SavatoX: And this is where I lose all credibility because X2 here is clearly blinded by nostalgia.
X2: Oh, shut up. At least it's more entertaining than your Super Castlevania IV review, I FELL ASLEEP during that one.
SavatoX: ...WHAT. NOBODY FALLS ASLEEP DURING MY REVIEWS!!! *slaps X2 across the face with a Fail Hammer, blasts him with the BGM 2000, and slices him in half with the Metal Blade* With that out of the way--
X2: STILL ALIVE!!!
SavatoX: *facepalm* WON'T YOU STAY DEAD!?
X2: Anyway, Mega Man 3 is a great game, you should play it. See you next time!
SavatoX: THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME WITH YOU!!!

Mega Man 3 (NES) Review   yaoyao9
I haven't written a review in a while, so this one is quite overdue. "Mega Man 3", as far as I know, was created by the Capcom development team after they realized that "Mega Man 2" hit jackpot in sales. The sequel was developed, and according to Keiji Inafune, "Unfinished". Let's dive right into it.
Graphics: As to be expected from most sequels, the graphics of "Mega Man 3" are a somewhat better quality than "Mega Man 2". Unfortunately, most of the Robot Masters still look flat, and Mega Man received no changes to his roster of sprites. The new enemies look a whole lot better than the boring "Mega Man 2" enemies, excluding Big Fish, of course. The returning Monking is miles better than the original Monking from "Mega Man 2", and even Hammer Joes look better than their sniping counterparts. I give the game props for the graphics.
The issue of the "Incompleteness" of the game arises in the graphics as well, as the image of Mega Man on the title screen (the same pose as the Weapon Get screen) is missing in the US release, but present with us Famicom users, which is quite strange.
Sound: Another improvement. Though 2 had an outstanding soundtrack, 3's isn't too shabby either. Songs such as Magnet Man, Spark Man, and Snake Man are amazing and good songs for remixes or just to listen to. The boss music also improved from the non-fitting groovy music of 2 to a more menacing music in 3. Even the fortress bosses gets their own themes now! Again, the game gets props from me.
Addictiveness: I'm not too confident on this one. Although MM3 is undoubtedly fun to speed run with the new "slide" function Mega Man has, the weapons in the game are just a tad awful for them to be of any legitimate use. I cannot tell you how much I despise weapons like the Gemini Laser, or the Spark Shock; weapons that either slow down the entire game and make you vulnerable or do no damage what so ever. People rant on and on about the Top Spin being awful, while forgetting that the Spark Shock does nothing to all enemies and sucks even more. The Gemini Laser is basically toothpaste. You squeeze it out of Mega Man's buster and it slowly oozes at enemies. That's it. The rest of the weapons are mediocre at best, and Shadow Blade leaves a poor taste in my mouth for being so nerfed compared to the Metal Blade. Not fun weapons, I tell you.
Story: Barely any to speak of yet again. The story is all in the manual, and there are something like 2 cut scenes for some story. It really doesn't matter.
Depth: DOC ROBOT. I love them, and they were a great way to extend game time instead of having two fortresses. Other than that, have fun getting the E-Tanks and exploiting glitches to give yourself the Rush Jet Early!
Difficulty: Past the Robot Masters and the Doc Robots, MM3 is too easy. The fortress is painful to crawl through due to how poorly constructed it is, and you get free E-Tanks EVERYWHERE. Even Robot Master Levels get reduced difficulty due to the inclusion of Rush Jet. Overall, it isn't too easy, but it is still far from difficult. Have your kid (or yourself) play MM5 before tackling this and you will be fine.
Overall: MM3 is important. Very important. It introduced Proto Man, it brought us some very cool Robot Masters, and it was a fun experience trying to speed run it. Newcomers should stick to 5 before this one, but it is still quite the easy game. I like it, though it won't win any of my top 3's any time soon.

Definitely a high point in a superb series. Now I'VE got yer power!!   bsnowotter
The Mega Man series is amazing.  It is a 2d platforming shooter that has been around forever and spawned different spinoffs and spinoffs of spinoffs like the Misadventures of Tron Bonne.  Of the original Nintendo series, however, in my opinion there is a persuasive argument that this one is the best or at least quite close.
Megaman usually tries to stop the mischief of Dr. Wily's robots run amok, and by defeating a boss robot at the end of a level Megaman acquires their power (usually a special shot of some kind).  Knowing which bosses are weak against which special shot helps to fly through the game faster if you take the bosses down in some order that exploits the weaknesses of the boss characters who put up a greater fight.  This is a formula that has been used countless times in Megaman games, and while it does get old, the strengths of the game help it to stay fun.
The graphics are always a high point.  Not only is the main character animated well (an energetic little cartoon dude blasting away at everything) the enemies in the levels are often cartoony or perhaps anime-like robots, such as hard hats who can only be harmed when they tilt up their hat to blast away at you and scamper around.  The levels also look gorgeous, and I think the exceptionally high quality of the graphics and attention to detail is a big part of what keeps fans coming back for all the sequels.  The boss designs are a huge part of this, too, as each of the bosses is based on a theme of some kind (magnetism, snakes... hardness...?) and as such they each have a personality and are memorable without ever saying a word.
The music in Megaman games is usually mind-blowing.  Often they start off with some attention-grabbing intro (that is never repeated) and they feature groovy sounds, clever harmonies and if you pay attention to the music you will be impressed.  And it doesn't hurt that each boss character's level has its own unique music.  It adds a lot to the addictiveness of the game that you are forced to listen to amazing music while you play.
While there is not tons that would compel someone to replay the game, the sheer level of quality and also the challenge of defeating bosses without exploiting their known weaknesses does add significantly to the depth.
For story I rated Megaman 3 higher than you might expect for a formulaic megaman game.  The inclusion of the mysterious ProtoMan and the way the game slowly reveals his story makes Megaman 3's story a cut above average.  Also Dr. Wily's sneakiness and the way he is menacing by raising his eyebrows repeatedly while cruising in his UFO definitely bolsters the game's story-telling score (though there is nothing quite as deep as the plot of a wordy RPG or anything).
I feel the Mega Man series can get in trouble when in every episode they include new stuff to the core mechanic that made it great.  I feel Mega Man 3 has the best balance of new stuff that enhances the game without cluttering out the old and detracting from the fun.  Mega Man 3 is the FIRST Megaman game to feature:
1  Mega Man's dog Rush, who is wicked cool and can assist the hero in awesome ways (i.e. rush coil to jump high, rush Marine the submarine and Rush Jet to fly)
2  A Mysterious guest character ProtoMan (what's his story??  play to find out!!)
3  The slide move (I like the idea of changing it to a dash later on, it really is more useful as a dash not a slide--sliding slows you down, not speeds you up, while running--but whether it's a dash or a slide the added speed enhances the gameplay)
Also, this was the LAST Megaman game to NOT feature:
1)  the stupid charge move.  In the genesis batman robin game, which rules, simply not shooting is enough to charge your weapon on its next deployment, but in all the future megaman sequels (until recently, I guess someone at capcom agreed with me?) the player must hold down the shoot button to gain access to the charge shot, which is totally unnecessary and dumb in a Megaman game.  and it distracts from the music and graphics with a stupid charge flicker and charging sound effects.  Megaman is meant to blast away like crazy, not charge up shots with stupid sound effects that distract from the game!!!
There is a strong case to be made that Megaman 2 is also awesome, but Megaman 2 does NOT feature Rush and Protoman, remember, so if you aren't in love with those characters it's sort of a subjective judgment call.  And Megaman 1 is also a classic but a bit on the too hard side.  I think the charge shot sucking is a bit more objectively horrible and if you disagree you can suck a bug!!
But I digress, check out this great game!  And the others in the series if you want to verify all my comparisons.  :)

The Blue Bomber Strikes again   supersayianbroly
He is back once again Mega Man returns in this third instalment in the series, to once again battle Dr Wiley and save the world.
Eight new robots stand in your way, of reaching Dr Wiley.
This on feature's all new characters, the most important of these is Mega Man's faithful companion and best friend Rush the robot Dog.
Hey Dogs are man's best friend right, well man has never had a friend quite like this dog can transform into a jet, a pogo spring, and a submarine, I need one of those myself.
This game also feature's other new character's such as the mysterious Proto Man, who is Mega Man's older brother Dr. Lights first creation while he is just a protype he causes some problems for Mega Man showing up 6 times in the game you have to fight him 4 of these times.
Weirdly enough there had to be some mistake made while creating the game because in play he is called Break Man but when the ending shows Dr Light calls him Proto Man?
What is going on there?
Also it appears Proto Man is working with Dr Wiley, but he also helps you at some points in the game what are his true motives?
The game play is very similar to the others defeat the boss robots take their powers and use them to defeat the others and Dr Wiley.
You also get to fight the boss robots from the second game again without the prize of taking their powers sadly once again.
The Music and graphics are very well improved in this game,as well as the new boss robots their powers are far superior to the boss robots of the second game.
Also Dr Wiley's stages are more vast and harder then ever before, which is why these games keep going so strongly, every one of them gets harder and better.
This game is another classic and shows who the boss is The Blue Bomber.
The only problem I have is this game went back to the way the first one was with no story opening at the beginning, although it does have a story part before you head to the Dr. Wiley stages and at the end of the game.
This is a game all can enjoy.
This is another must have for any gamers collection.

Megaman 3 NES review   Stevie 764
Yay, it's the third installment of megaman!
The sounds are great! shooting pellets at robot masters!
This game has a lot of long stages, think there's 20+ levels.
This game can easily be picked up and play since it's a great game!
Thank goodness for the password system, can't beat it in 1 sitting unless you have the skills and patience.
The graphics are great, but a fat robot cat? Seriously, capcom made weird enemies.
The story is superb! Dr.Wily is on the loose with 8 new robot masters to take megaman down. Mega man must stop Dr.Wily for the 3rd time and save the world from pure evil, again!
Overall, It's a must-have for the NES library of games.
Who's the hero?
Megaman: (I can't speak!)
Me: Mega Man!

This game was great to play the graphics were good. The story is the same as always Dr.willy has taken control of 8 robot masters and you need to stop them. I think the only hard robot master was Gemini man because of the split of him turning into 2,but other than that it was pretty easy. I love the weapons you get after you defeat each robot master, but there are a few exceptions Gemini man's weapon leaves you out in the open spark and needle's man's weapons are okay you shoot a spark and a needle. Overall difficulty well it's easy except the doc robot stages ugh they drove me insane. and the yellow devil is way easier this time around so many e-tanks and the slide ability were very handy. So if you are getting into the series then I'd recommend this game go try it out!

Mega man 3 for nes!   jlh
Mega man 3: A review by jlh.
Mega man three, this game gets nothing but high reviews from me. Over all the game gets a 9. The story is interesting with a shadow character hiding in the midst waiting to attack mega! The graphics are colorful and clean, especially for the nes. This game can be highly addictive and fun to play. It is not too easy to beat, it is a good thing. Nice fast paced music with a long game make it enjoyable to play. No wonder this game is a long running and popular series.
Graphics: I have to say like all the mega man games before this one has excellent graphics and this installment is no exception. All the levels are different with lots of colors and are drawn with detail. Like in other mega man series your character changes color when you change your weapon, very cool! The enemy robots are plenty different with every board and the boss characters are drawn well too. I give the graphics a high score of a 9.
Sound: I gave the sound of this game a score of an 8. Simply because most of the music is fast paced and is different with each board. Plus the sound effects let you know whether you are doing damage or not. From charging up your blaster to exploding enemies the sounds of the game helps with the enjoyment factor.
Addictiveness: Nothing but good scores on this game! I gave it a score of an 8 for the addictiveness factor. Highly addictive? Yes. In this game like the others every boss has a weak spot with certain weapons, you just have to pick the right stage to beat, to get the weapon you think will beat a different boss. Great game play, easy save codes, cool boards and boss robots makes this game addictive to me.
Story: This games story gets a real high score of a 9 from me. Even though I am hard to please with game stories, and this story is relative to the other stories, it does introduce a twist in the plot with a mysterious character named " proto man". In the beginning it is hard to tell if proto man is a friend or enemy, especially since you have to fight him multiple times to advance in the story. Plus I think it is just a cool story about robots and their good and bad masters, very cool in my book!
Depth: In all the previous series including this one, the depth of the games can be deep if you are a beginner. Just because if you do not know what weapon will beat a boss, it can be difficult and time consuming going back and forth in the levels. Plus besides the regular levels there are additional boards to beat. That is why this game gets a high score of an 8.
Difficulty: I rated the difficulty pretty high at an 8. Like I stated before each boss is weak to a certain weapon, matching these up can be frustrating but in a good way. SPOIL ALERT!  when you get to the Willy's castle you have to fight all the bosses again with your remaining lives! Plus the castle board seems to keep going and going. When you think it is near the end there are still a lot of levels in the castle!

Mega Man 3 Cheat Codes

Super Jump: With your 2nd controller, hold right and jump. Mega Man will jump higher than before. It'll stop when you stop holding right.

Slow-motion Robot Animations: This time, hold up on the 2nd controller. This will slow down all animations. Getting hurt while this cheat is on is a problem because even that animation is slowed down!

Zombie Megaman: Find a pit. Before jumping in it, hold right on the 2nd controller. Then jump in it. I think if you jump, Megaman will pop out of the pit. You can't shoot while megaman is "zombified." However, if Rush Coil is taken out, he can. Megaman will stay as a "zombie" until he touches anything that gives him health.

Frozen Enemies: Hold up+A on the 2nd controller. The enemies should be frozen.

Technically, the first game I played is Ms. Pac-Man. However, this is where I got my true start. If this game considered is hard, it must be awesome watching a 7-year-old almost reach the end like me. I feel ashamed about my great loss in skill since
