Worst Mario Kart game   gamerforlifefor..
Mario Kart: Super Circuit is a good game but compared to the rest of the Mario Kart series it's the worst. The tracks overall are not that good. There are some exceptions though such as Yoshi Desert (I still don't get why that track hasn't been brought back to any of the newer games) and Peach Circuit. The soundtrack is okay there are some good ones but there are other tracks like rainbow road that just aren't good at all. The controls are the worst in the series because they are sloppy. But with all the problems this game has there is one thing that is fantastic about it and that's the fact that you can race on each track from Super Mario Kart. Honestly though as far as those tracks go you're better off just playing Super Mario Kart? though because the sound quality is much better. It's a decent game overall but it's by far the worst Mario Kart game ever made so I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to play all the games in the series in that case I'd say go for it.

Mario Kart review!   patar4097

Mario Kart Super Circuit was the first Mario Kart game

for a handheld system. Being on a gba, they couldn't make the 3d track like
Mario Kart 64, giving them fewer options. But that definitely doesn't
make this a bad game.

So, this Mario Kart isn't much different from the rest. It's a karting
game, with gimmicks on each track, items to mess with others, and coins to make
you go faster and avoid getting knocked around.

So there are a few game modes in Mario Kart Super Circuit. First, there
is GP mode, where you race at one of five cups, and do four races in a row.
There are three difficulties: 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc, progressively
getting harder each time.

The second game mode is time trials. Here, you race all alone on the
track, or against a ghost, and race around it three times. You get three
mushrooms during this race.

The next one is the verses mode. Here, you can pick between the
three difficulties, if you want to do 3 or 5 laps, if you want to use
items, and if you want to use coins or not.

And then there are some multiplayer options. You can do versus, or do the
battle mode, where you attack others, and try to be the only remaining player
left with balloons, which are used as lives. Unfortunately, it's impossible to
do this mode on Vizzed, and nor have I ever played it, so this won't be put
into consideration for the overall rating.
In this addition to the Mario Kart franchise, there
are a total of eight racers, like in the previous two, all distributed into
different weight classes. Mario and Luigi are the medium size. They are average
at everything, but don't have any real advantages. Toad, Peach, and Yoshi are
in the small class. They have good acceleration and speed, but poor control and
weight. Then Bowser, Wario and Donkey Kong are the heavy weights. With great
control and weight, but suffer in the speed
and acceleration department.
Gameplay: 8.5 -
The gameplay itself is good. Not
as good as some other Mario Kart games, but still really fun to play. The
controls seem a bit loose, especially with Yoshi. Drifting can be a really hard
thing to master, but once you get the hang of it, you can become a pro. In this
Mario Kart game, many of the tracks have some kind of shortcut. Some are small
ones, like the small hole in the wall in Luigi Circuit, and some are huge, like
the Ribbon Road one. Some of these aren't really meant to be in the game, so
that brought down the rating a little bit. And a random thing that you can do
in this game: if you press select, you honk your horn. :P
Graphics: 9.5 -  The graphics are good for a gba game. Although there is the
regular bright colors, like pink Mario, but all the tracks, enemies on the
tracks, and the backgrounds all look very nice. One small thing I liked about
them was in the Bowser's Castle tracks, when you are on the grates right over
the lava, you character looks red, like the lava's brightness showing off on
you. Just the plain fact that it makes the characters look 3d is a big plus. I
haven't found a Gameboy Advance game with better graphics than this game.
Sound: 9 -  I love the music in this game. Some of the biggest standouts in
the game are Cheep Cheep Beach/ Shy Guy Beach, Bowser's Castle, and Mario /
Peach / Luigi Circuit. Pretty much every track's music has a nice low bass tune
in the song, which I think sounds amazing. I don't think there is one song from
the new tracks that I didn't like.
Then the sounds that the characters make are good too. The only problem I had
was that if you get hit multiple times after, let's say a red shell, then it
gets a little annoying hearing Mario saying "ow ow ow ow ow" over and
over. But overall, very good sounds in this game.
Addictiveness/depth: 9.5 - Like every
Mario Kart game, there is a huge amount of replay ability. With 20 new tracks,
and also having every track from the original Super Mario Kart (although they
don't have any of the obstacles), making 40 tracks in all. This alone can keep
you playing for a long time. Another thing that makes the gameplay so long is
that to get a triple star on every cup, you along with placing first every
time, you also need to collect a good amount of coins. Plus, with the time
trial mode, getting a good time can be very fun to get also, and showing off
you great ghost records to your friends.
story: N/A - As in every Mario Kart game, there is no story to it. You
race for no particular reason.
Difficulty: 8 - Now, I remember thinking when I was a kid that this was very hard. The
SNES tracks were almost impossible to win, and Donkey Kong and Bowser seem to go twice as
fast as everybody else (those two will be good if you are Mario). But now, it
doesn't seem as hard to win races, although once you get to 150cc, you will be
struggling to stay in first sometimes. But when it comes to getting stars, it's
really hard. You need to win every race in order to get every star, and you
need tons of coins. On my cartridge version, there are still some cups
that I haven't gotten even one star on. This will keep you coming back again
and again. In my opinion, this is the hardest version of Mario Kart out there.

Overall:

9.1 - This game is a truly great game. It has some of the best
graphics that the Gameboy Advance has to offer, in my opinion, the best overall
soundtrack for a Mario Kart game, and a humongous game. This game will
keep you coming back again and again, and the difficulty will always keep you
on your toes. If you haven't played this game, you
should definitely try it now.

Mario Kart-Super Circuit review   SuperCrash64
Has anyone played Racing games? I had done that, and there fun because of the nice control it gives you,and it was just fun to be able to live the once dreamed experience, and also that hot ride with smooth air coming out of the windows, and just beating friends on mutilplayer mayhem. So what would happen if Mario went to start Racing? That may be a question some asked, and soon Nintendo came up with an answer that is Mario Kart. Already many games of that franchise took off,and that was mainly do to the series being,so popular and loved by Nintendo fans. This leads me to the 3rd installment in the franchise, and the first Mario Kart game that can be taken with you on the go. Introducing Mario Kart-Super Circuit  for the Game Boy Advance handheld/portable system, so without a further ado enjoy the review.
(The game looks good, but has some blurry parts)
Graphics:  The Game Boy Advance Graphics of a Mario Kart game really are nice here,as the game looks pretty much amazing here.
(Sprites: The Mario characters are well represented here, as they have there standard clothing, koopa shells, and many other stuff that is involved with the franchise. The Mario characters really look well detailed, and there very sharp, crispy, rich, and colorful .The size of the Mario characters are quite decent, and while I say they look good some parts just look a little bit blurry ,but I guess Nintendo did the best they could with the gba's custom 2d core for graphics. (Stages: The stages in Mario Kart-Super Circuit are impressive for the time it was released, and that's mainly because how much Mario related stuff, and detail Nintendo managed to put in there. Key examples I'm going to use is Shy guy beach, and other courses because places like Shy Guy Beach in Mario Kart-Super Circuit, and others have quite a lot of stuff  like crabs, and a huge Impressive boat with a Captain Shy Guy leading them, and he tries to shoot cannonballs at you (note: The cannonballs won't really affect you in this game. Anyways moving on I would say the stages are well done on this game.My rating for the Graphics of Mario Kart-Super Circuit I'll rate it A nine out of ten.
(The sound is all wacky, and Mario style here)
Sound: The Mario Kart franchise didn't start exactly getting sound, until Mario Kart 64 arrived to the scene,so now We got some voice samples that sound really good for a Game Boy Advanced game. (Using key examples again) For example now if you hit someone like Toad he will go something like ah or oh. Because he crashed by something like a koopa shell. The voice effect is not too bad,but the pitch is just a little low (note that may be a problem for some, but it's not really a problem for me) (Soundtrack: The Soundtrack is the Mario style I mentioned, and the reason I said that was because The soundtrack gets a little funky and fresh in my opinion, and some songs are just soothing like the Shy Guy Beach theme all of the Mario Kart themes in my opinion, and the newer 1's are all classic vgm"aka" video game music.Anyways My rating of Sound ten out of ten
(The Mario Kart Gba game,or franchise in general is pretty fun,and addicting also best enjoyed with friends over)
The addictiveness, and depth of this game: (first addictiveness) Mario Kart was always a fun and addicting game for being able to throw many shells, use stars, and just the overall the great use of the items, and the natural fun of racing your buddies on many tracks,as for Mario Kart-Super-Circuit it pretty much feels the same, but on the go. Depth: As for almost any Mario Kart game the most depth you're gonna get out of this is going through many courses, and there tracks, and as an added bonus if You do well on the tracks, and pretty much get the golden trophy on every track and a good ranking, then you can play through the Classic stages from Super Mario Kart.(note the music on the Classic Super Mario Kart courses maybe alerted a bit). Addictiveness, and depth rating 8
(No real storyline in this game)
Story: There is no real Storyline on this, and any other Mario Kart game because the series was just mean't to be a driving franchise involving Mario characters, and just in general to be fun. Story rating is gonna be blank because of this.
(Unlike the newer Mario kart games "aka" games like Mario kart Ds,and Mario Kart Wii this game has fairly balanced difficulty)
Difficulty. The game was actually pretty easy, and well balanced on the difficulty even if you set it to like 150cc, The computer foe won't totally cause you the race, and it's just more likely the computer foe will do that to you on something like Mario Kart Wii,and Mario Kart Ds. the controls feel less stiff  which is a good thing,so controls are improved as in the characters themselves, and the entire feel of this game is less stiff than Super Mario Kart.My rating  of Difficulty five out of ten.

Overall Mario kart franchise Is always great and a fun game to play, and I can totally recommend you check this out if you are into Racing or Mario My rating of this game is a nine point five. good visuals great music, and sound variety  and fairly well balanced Difficulty.

Mario hits the small screen in this amazing racer.   RedHotToddy
In 1992, Nintendo brought to us one of the greatest racing games of all time, Super Mario kart, This game literately set the bar for racing games! Today alot of other people still try to copy from the plumber's success, Failing miserably. We got 1 game on the SNES, then on the N64. And finally we got a Mario kart on the Game boy advance! This game is Mario kart super circuit. Will this be a good racer? Or a flat tire? Let's go ahead and see!
Story-N/A
I do not think there is an actual story behind this game! So let's proceed to the actual game itself.....
Gameplay-8/10
This game plays like previous Mario kart installments, You play as One of Mario and his friends, And you race 7 other racers to the finish! In this game there are 3 modes, Mario GP, where you race against 7 other racers in 4 different races, points will be given out depending on where you finish, Whoever has the most points at the end is the winner. In time trial, You race on a track by yourself trying to finish in the fastest time possible. And last but not least, There is quick race, where you race on any track of your choice for kicks and giggles. You will be using a big amount of weapons, such as koopa shells, bombs, etc.  The controls are pretty simple, A is accelerate, B is brake, L is item, and R is drift.
Graphics-9/10
This was a REALLY early Game boy advance title, And I will say, It looks amazing! All the locales and tracks you'll be exploring are big, colorful, and bursting with atmosphere. The menus are nicely organized as well. Now one this game has That I have been wanting to see in a long time, Moving backgrounds! In almost all of the levels, There is always something going on in the background, Such as a pirate ship in the sea, or a big haunted house infested with ghosts. For a early Game boy advance title (2001 to be exact,) This is just amazing.
Sound-8/10
I am going to be honest here, This is probably the best Mario kart soundtrack I have heard in a while! All the songs you'll be hearing seem to fit the levels very nicely, Some prime examples are these 2 levels, The Ghost valley and the  Ribbon road, Ghost valley has really really spooky music to it, And the ribbon road has really nice cheery music to it. As for the sound effects, They are pretty average as well, You have your little twirl when the car flips out, The siren whenever A blue shell is coming your way, And alot of more. This game even uses voice clips from the actual characters!
Addictiveness-8/10
Oh how much fun I had with this game! The day I got it, I couldn't put it down. This game just that charm that Other Mario kart clones don't have...I've had alot of fun playing with my friends Via link cable, Probably the best feature of the game...
Depth-8/10
This game has alot of stuff for you to unlock and do! For one, There is the multiplayer mode which can be done by Via link cable, Where you can do everything you do by yourself with a friend! Like Race with a friend, Battle with a friend, etc. And there are also a bunch of difficulty levels to play in as well.
Difficulty-5/10
I'll admit, The game isn't really that hard, Unless you're playing in other difficulty levels that is! But otherwise, The game is practically a cakewalk to play. Except for...RAINBOW ROAD! THE TERROR! THE HORROR! THE SUSPENSE! God I hated that place with a passion so much!
Overall-8.3/10
So If you need a good Kart racer to play on the Game boy advance, I highly suggest you buy Mario kart super circuit! It has alot of to unlock and do to keep you busy for hours and hours to come! So I gave this game an 8.3 because that reason. So  what are you waiting for? Go ahead and buy this amazing game!

Love letter to fans of the Original   Yargishner
Mario Kart Super Circuit is the first portable version of Mario Kart. At the time of its release my young brain didn't know a game like Mario kart would even be possible on the gameboy. It works great. Although this game borrows the same characters, powerups, and a few gameplay mechanics from the N64 game, Super Circuit plays more like the original game on the SNES.
graphics 10/10
Super Circuit's graphics really push the gbas graphics to its limits and although its technically not in 3d it gives an illusion of it being in 3d just like the original Mario Kart. However the games graphics are a little bit more detailed then the snes version and the sprites while still 2d kinda look more like the n64 characters. If I had to compare graphics to any other game on the system I would say the only game to top it would be the pinball Mario and a few other kart racers like Crash Nitro kart come close. The graphics while maybe not obviously impressive as the later portable Mario karts this on is still great and easy on the eyes.
sound 8/10
The sound is pretty much the same with any Mario kart and this on is no different. The music is catchy and the karts sound is actually pretty good for a gba title. Also the sound effects is very great to not much has changed from the snes/n64 versions here but for its time that was pretty impressive at least to me.
Gameplay/addictiveness 9/10
I know what your thinking its Mario kart of coarse its gonna be great and of coarse it is. Will it be your favorite Mario kart for life, probably not but it is enjoyable and for hardcore Nintendo fans you shouldn't miss out on a great game. Also to date this game has more tracks then any other game in the series half of which is unlockable and is actually every single track from the original game. There is also 20 original course's so if you plan on playing super Mario kart this is a better version. Of coarse it wouldn't be a Mario kart game without multiplayer which does very well with the link cable and is fun just like the other Mario Karts. If I had any complaints about this game is the steering seems a little off. While not to big of a deal unless you play on 150cc I find your kart is kinda a little more slippery then what it should be but maybe that's just me. Also while definitely not F-zero this is without a doubt the hardest Mario kart game out there so that might put off a few.?
Positives
+Very Fun Game
+graphics push the gba to its limit
+great extras
+has on of the best replay and single player in Mario kart
+its Mario kart of coarse its awesome
+first portable Mario Kart
Negatives
-Hard difficulty on later levels may be off putting to some
-slippery controls
overall 9.5/10
if your a fan of Mario Kart and never had access to a gameboy you should defiantly try to find a way to play it. While it may or may not be your favorite game of the series if your looking to see what Mario kart used to be or have never played it before this is a good starter game as long as your willing to put up with the difficulty.?

Ready, Set, Go get this game!   MoblinGardens
Mario Kart: Super Circuit was probably one of my favourite games for the Gameboy Advanced.  It really keeps in the legacy from Mario Kart 64.  For a little bit of history, Mario Kart: Super Circuit was released in 2001, the same year the Gameboy Advanced was released.  It sold about 2.53 million in the United States alone.
Let's talk about the graphics in the game first.  In Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the graphics are surprisingly phenomenal.  You have 3D models in the character selection screen as well as nicely detailed items and back drops while you are racing.  The animations of turning when you are racing are pretty nice as well.  When it is compared to other racing games for the GBA, I would most likely pick this one the play if I was only going by graphics.  Nothing looks choppy or blurry like most other racing games for the Gameboy Advanced.
The sound is pretty good as well.  It's nothing to get excited about though.  You have your basic kart sounds, which actually gradually sound like it is rising like a real engine.  You also have character sounds when you get hit with an item such as a red or green shell.  They also make sounds when you hit an opponent with any item which will indicate whether you have hit them or not.  Something that is really nice about this game is the music for each and every course.  When you think about it, it's actually quite an expansive music collection.
Next we will talk about the addictiveness.  Even though this game does not keep track of how long you have played, if it did, I probably would have logged over hundreds of hours on this game.  There is always something to do in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, whether it's trying to beat your time trial on one of the courses or trying to get a better score on one of the Grand Prix.
There is no story to this game, so I won't bother talking about something that doesn't exist.
Let's instead talk about how much this game has to offer.  Well, to start off, this game has 20 tracks to race on.  That means that there are five Grand Prix, and four tracks each Grand Prix.  These are also split into three different categories, which are 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc.  There are also 20 extra tracks as well for you to race on making a grand total of 40 tracks.  You can also race on all of these tracks in time trial mode in which you can attempt to beat your personal record each time for a certain track.  There is also multi-player which there are different game modes that you can play with your friends such as the obvious race mode, and then there is a battle mode as well.  Also, don't forget that there are eight characters to choose from.  They are categorised in three different weight classes.  In light weight, we have Peach, Toad, and Yoshi.  Lightweight characters have good acceleration but are knocked around easier by other karts and they skid easier.  The second weight class is middle weights.  The middle weights are Mario and Luigi.  Middle Weights are the "All Around' class.  They do not have anything bad about them but they do not have anything good about them.  The last class, are heavy weights.  They are Bowser, Donkey Kong and Wario.  Heavy Weights are knocked around the less and don't skid as much as the other classes, but they suffer from low acceleration.
The last topic we have to talk about is the difficulty.  You can change the difficulty by changing the cc level.  For an example, to get a harder race, you can change 50cc to 100cc.  The game is not actually very difficult and there are only a couple of tracks that are actually difficult, such as broken pier.  I did not have a very hard time with this game and I am not generally good with racing games.
In conclusion, Mario Kart: Super Circuit is a very good game and should be check out in the RGR when you have the chance.  If you are looking for a good racing game for the GBA then this is definitely the game for you.  Overall, I give this game a deserving 9.1.

Mario Kart - Super Circuit   supercool22
Mario Kart - Super Circuit : Game Review by supercool22
Released Date - 2001
System - Game Boy Advanced
Developer - Intelligent System Co.
Publisher - Nintendo of America
Genre - Action / Racing and Driving
What I know about this game ?
Mario Kart - Super Circuit was released around 2001 . Like all of my favorite games , this game was made for the Game Boy Advanced , maybe one of the first few games made for this system or hand held device . The Developer of this game is Intelligent System Co. and the Publisher is Nintendo of America . Also everyone knows that Mario Kart - Super Circuit is a Action / Racing and Driving game which makes it better . Mario Kart - Super Circuit is the third Mario Kart game made ( Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario Kart was released before this game ) .
Ratings

Overall
Mario Kart - Super Circuit is a great racing game and maybe one of the first Mario Kart games I ever played . Ever though this game is old , you could still have fun playing it . Basically you have to try to beat your friends and/or enemies . The best part it is that it gets harder after each race and thats the way I like it . Overall Mario Kart - Super Circuit is a great game and that is why its rated a 9 / 10 .
Graphics
Mario Kart - Super Circuit has good graphics . But Since maybe it was the first few games made for this hand held device ( GBA ) it doesn't have graphics like the games that were made a few years after Mario Kart - Super Circuit was released . Anyway its best not to judge games on how great the graphics are . So anyway this game good graphics .
Sound
The music is really good . But most likely you would hear the music in other mario kart games made after this . So anyway the music in this game is original because this is where the music originated from anyway and some of the courses too but were not talking about that now .
The sounds are not original in this game because the sounds are used in other Mario Kart games but they sound a little at times . So the sounds are great .
Addictiveness
I could play this game over and over again . Mario Kart - Super Circuit is very Addictive . Usually I could play this game all day or for 6 hours at least because I really like to play Mario Kart . But Mario Kart is a great game and sometimes it does get boring if I play this like everyday of the week and Usually try to make sure it doesn't become an addiction . So anyway this game is very addictive and I know all of you agree as well .
Story
I can't see what The story is or maybe it has no story . So I don't have much to say about the story . But what know is that you have to win every Cup , win every race and Beat everyone .
Depth
This is a pretty big game . It has lots to do with racing and it takes a while to beat ( a week at least ) . Mario Kart - Super Circuit does offer a lot from Beating the game , racing your friends and / or enemies to win the race . To winning all of the Grand Prix Cups and Having Fun .
Difficulty
This game is hard at times . Not because you put it into a hard difficulty . Its that the terrain in each course changes , so are easy to get through but at times it becomes very hard to navigate through . Also you have trouble winning if you don't know what to do in serious situation , like getting in last place or getting stuck in one area most of the time . Anyway without a difficulty this game would be boring because its too easy to beat .
Alright thats is all I got to say for now . Hope you like my review and have a good day everyone .

Just an SNES port?   Someone70
Super Circuit is the only Mario Kart game released on the GBA. While the other games in the Mario Kart series are critically acclaimed for being groundbreaking and addicting, this game does little to add to the appeal of the overall series.
Graphics: 8
These are probably the highlight of the series. The graphics here are good when compared to other GBA games. However, the only game in the series they're better than would be the SNES version. The coins and most of the terrain is still flat. However, there is some nice activity in the background and the item boxes and items at least stand up. Other than that, it's comparable to the SNES graphics. One thing I was disappointed about was the lack of the pop-up map on the bottom, but I guess there was no room for it on such a small screen.
Sound: 6
The music was probably made to sound similar to the music in Mario Kart 64, but the shortcomings of the GBA's sound system didn't quite let it get there. It's not as addicting as any of the music in the series. The sound set just makes it sound average to all other GBA games, really. The sound effects are similar to those in the SNES Mario Kart, as well. Nothing very significant about those.
Addictiveness: 5
Like I said, this game falls short of the expectations of other Mario Kart games. So as a result, it's not quite as addicting as them.
The fact that it's on the GBA makes it portable so that you can play Mario Kart wherever you go. But that happens to be one of the shortcomings in its addictiveness. Because it's on the GBA, it's a hassle trying to set up multiplayer, with adapters and wires and whatnot needed to establish a connection. I consider multiplayer to be one of the core mods of the Mario Kart series, so because it hardly exists here, it's not as fun to play.
Also, another gameplay aspect that I find unnecessary is the coin system. In the SNES version, coins were also used as sort of a "health" gauge, and they're back in Super Circuit. They're similar to the way rings work in Sonic. If you run into someone or hit a stage obstacle, you'll lose some coins. If you do any of that with 0 coins left, then your cart spins out and you lose a lot of time.
Coins can be found scattered across the course, but picking them up can be a pain because they're so small to see. And in a race where you have 0 coins, it becomes frustrating trying to pick up more because you're always spinning out when you hit an opponent or an obstacle. So you can see how annoying it would get if you were 5th or something in a race with no coins left in your possession. You have to hope you stay 1st the whole race or you'll be bumping into other karts too many times in the race and you lose coins much much faster. What annoys me is that computer doesn't seem to be affected by coins, so they never spin out when you hit them.
Story: N/A
It's a racing game... Some racing games have stories, but not this one. It's just race to get 1st and win the trophy.
Depth: 5
There isn't a lot you can do with this game besides the initial appeal of the gameplay. Whenever you win 1st in a series, you get a nice little trophy to display in the menu. There is one cup that's locked, which you have to unlock by winning 1st in every other cup of that difficulty.
Other than that, there really isn't anything else to unlock in the game. You can try for the best times in Time Trial mode, and that's about all you can do. It's not as deep as future Mario Kart games, and not even as great as Mario Kart N64.
Gameplay strategies remain the same as most other Mario Kart games. You can't drift to get a mini-boost in this game, however. Some of the courses have a few hints and tricks you can use to get through them faster, though. You can try to figure out these tricks using the Time Trial mode and implement them in the actual game.
Difficulty: 7
This game isn't the hardest in the world, but it is harder than the other Mario Kart games. The game has horrible steering, which feels more like you're always drifting. Because you're playing simply on a D-pad, you can't control how far you turn, unlike the console Mario Kart games. And since you control it like that, drifting doesn't really feel like drifting.
Also, like I said before, the CPU feels unfair because they're not affected by the same properties as you. You seem to be the only one affected by unfair steering and the detrimental coin system. It makes for quite a challenge in the races.
Overall: 7.0
This game is average in terms of gameplay, but subpar compared to other Mario Kart games. It just doesn't retain that fun feel that the other games do. It feels the most like SNES version of Mario Kart, which is actually harder than this one, believe it or not. Try playing those two if you want a different and more challenging twist on the whole Mario Kart series.

Mario Kart Super Circuit   mlb789
The Mario Kart series has always captivated the minds of young video game players, sucking them in to the virtual reality world of throwing shells and racing as their favorite Mario characters into one game.  As the release of the new Mario Kart game, Mario Kart 7, is looming for the Nintendo 3DS, I thought today would be an appropriate time to review this fascinating game on the Game Boy Advance platform.  The base of this game is, like many other Mario Kart games, to race on a series of courses called cups and get the golden trophy on all levels.  In this particular Mario Kart game, there are 5 cups spanning over 20 courses, which comes out to four races per cup.  Each cup has three difficulty levels, which are 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc.  Each difficulty level affects how fast you will go on the course.  There is also eight of your favorite Mario series characters to choose from, so if you want to be Peach, Yoshi, Mario, Bowser, Toad, Luigi, Donkey Kong, or Wario, you can choose to play as them.  There are three main game modes, which are Grand Prix, Quick Run, and Time Trial (Time Trial does not have you choose a difficulty).  Also, there is a possibility of getting the Extra Cups, which contain the SNES levels for your enjoyment.  To unlock these, you need to get a golden trophy on each cup on each difficulty and get 100 coins on each difficulty.  Coins are used in this game to act as fuel sort of.  For example, if you get hit by a kart and have no coins with you, your character will spin out and likely lose a place or two.
Graphics: 5  The graphics in this game are not very good, everything is extremely pixelated and grainy.  Even with that said, this game did come out in 2001, which made it a very early game for the system.
Sound: 6  The sound is not as grainy as the graphics, but the sound is still distorted a little.  The game's music is not very good, as all of the courses pretty much have the same music, which becomes very annoying.
Addictiveness: 10  This game is very addictive, as you can keep playing forever as there is a quick run mode and a time trial mode.  You can continue to try and get high scores until you can't get higher, which can captivate you for hours at a time.
Story: 4  The story is like most Mario Kart games, in which you just keep racing until you get all the gold cups.  As a result, there is not much of a story to offer.
Depth: 10  You can always continue to play, as there is a mode, Quick Run, which allows you to play as much as you want.  It also takes a while to get the Extra Cups, so it goes on for a long time.
Difficulty: 3  The game, aside from the Extra Cups, which are extra, is really very easy.  You can beat it very fast but have a fun time doing it.
Overall: 8.8  The game itself is very good.  It has a few minor flaws in the sensory details, but besides that it is very good.

Mario Kart - Super Circuits   Zircron Swift
Having played Mario Kart for the N64 first, it was hard for me to imagine a 16-bit version of a Mario Kart game. It seemed rather simple to me, and I thought it would be interesting to see how it would fair. I had the GBA game on my 3DS as a reward for getting the console early, so I might as well play that. I can't say I was expecting much, though.
The story....Mario, racing, trophy, 'nuff said. There is no story, which is probably for the best. If there was, it'll most probably be something like "Car Land" from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show or something like that, but I digress. As the game opens up, you are welcomed with a rockin' tune which would be the last thing I would expect from a Mario game. You can choose from the title to go single player, multi player, or exchange ghosts from time trail. It was nice to see that you could challenge your friends to how fast you were in a certain track. Now-a-days, you can do that in Mario Kart 7 via street pass with anyone, making it easier to get a challenge. Man, we've come a long way since then.
You get a choice of three game modes. The Mario GP, which is the Grand Prix of the game, allowing you to play in three difficulties (displayed as CC's, 50, 100 and 150) and choose from four different cups, with a secret fifth cup that just sits there, refusing to let you race in it untill you get a gold tropthy in every cup in that CC. It's a nice feature to have every track have it's little own preview with pieces of art instead of showing a segment of the track. This leaves mystery and curiousity to make you want to race in every one of them to see what they are like.
Then there is time trail mode, which let you race on your own to get the fastest time possible. You start with a triple mushroom in every race. You can press select to choose what ghosts are displayed when you are racing (the ghosts via exchange and the ones created yourself). Then there is a "quick run", which allows you to play a certain track with a character of your choice. This can be good to practice on tracks you struggle on, although the name "quick run" implies that you choose a random character witha  random stage just to get in the race really quickly.
You can choose between eight characters. These range from Mario to Luigi and from Bowser to......TOAD!!!! WHAt are you doing here? Great, he's in this game as well.....I hate Toad. In every Mario Kart game I've played, he's always ther real smug one that hogs first place and acts like everything he does in a race is planned, even by the stuff that isn't him. He always seems to make it in a race, even when there are more than 12 characters, he's always there.....but maybe in this game, he isn't. Anyway, each character has a different weight, top speed and turning abilities. The more weight the character has, the harder is it to turn, but the easier is it to knock other racers out of the way and into lakes or off the edge. they have a low top speed, though. On the other hand, a character could be very light weight, have good steering and a nice top speed, but can easily be knocked into someplace you don't to be.
The game is a little off putting to me, and the only reason is the drifting. I press R to take a drift turn, and it doesn't work like the future Mario Kart games (or the past one if your talking Mario Kart 64). I can't seem to get a boost, nor move in the opposite direction to prolong my drift till I get the boost, as I just go the other way. I therefore don't try to drift unless it's a sharp corner to turn. The controls otherwise are pretty smooth, if not a little sensitive for my liking. You will notice that there are coins littered all around the track. If you run over these, you will collect them, and in turn, make you go faster. Boy, i would like a car that whatever money I drive over, I will collect it. That would probably cost me more money than I would gain from the loose change of the road, come to think of it...
If you get his by things on the track, you lose some coins. If you are hit by enemy items, you lose some coinds, even if you get hit by the drivers, you lose some coins. What is this? Ghost Busters for the NES during the driving stages where you have to pay for the damage someone else did? Anyway, these coins add up at the end of a Mario GP, and you are given a rank depending on you coins. I think if you are able to collect every coin (52) in a track, then you get an "A" or an "S" or something. But this is one thing I wouldn't obess over.
The music is pretty good. It's suiting to the track at hand, and quite amusingly, sometimes seems to forget that it's a racing game. It really does seem that the music suggests we're taking the beach as an urban track out of the blue for the sake of a Grand Prix. The graphics are very pleasing to the eyes. They pay good attention to detail both in the background and in the track itself. You might even get some spare time to look at the background at some points in the race.
Overall, I give this game an 8.4/10      It's a fun little game to play. The CPU is some what lacking, but hits hard if your in the center of it all. Combined with the music graphics and controls, the game is quite enjoyable, and really is a pick up and play classic. I would like to see the Super Nintendo version, accrually.

Everybody's Super Sonic... er, Mario Racing!   acam
For this review, I'll do the GBA classic, "Mario Kart: Super Circuit".
GRA: Amazing! For a GBA game, the graphics sure do look marvelous. They also give off a sort of 2.5-D sense.
SND: Nostalgic Mario Kart sound with a GBA twist
ADD: This game's multitude of options and characters will keep any Mario or racing fan playing every chance they get.
   STR: N/A
DFF: On the hard side at first, but is simple when you get the hang of the controls.
NOTE: Many people believe this is a simple port /remake of the SNES game "Super Mario Kart". I respectfully disagree, citing new tracks and a wider character selection.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit Review   Batcake
OK, Mario Kart Super Circuit is made by Nintendo and is only for entertainment purposes only. This game is a Game boy Advance game and does not work for Black and white Game boy and Game boy colour/color. This was the third Mario Kart game. This game is in the Mario Kart series.
Copyright: 1992, 2001 Nintendo
Overall : This game has not-so-good graphics and a little of an enjoyable game. Sound was also not-so-good. Keep in mind this was made in 2001.
Graphics: Again, not-very-good but keep in mind this not-so-good game was made in 2001 right before the Game cube was made.
Sound: The sound of this game was OK but the other Mario Kart game's sounds are better. The retro track sounds were not as good as the original games that made those tracks. Mario Kart: Double Dash had better sounds and music for the game.
Addictiveness: When you play this game, you don't really play it again that much due to the sound and the graphics of the game. There wasn't that much effort into the game.
Story: This game and the Mario Kart series did not have a main story in the game. See the fake one and watch "Mario Kart: The movie!" for more details and information about the story and how it all started.
Depth: This game has 40 tracks, 20 new ones, and 20 retro/ old ones. It has Grand Prix, Time Trials, and records. The Grand Prix mode has 50cc, 100cc, 150cc. The higher cc's the harder it is. There are about 10 characters in the game including Peach, Mario, Toad, and more! See more information in the actual game when you play on the menu.
Difficulty: The difficulty of the game was sort of, quite hard if you choose the higher levels like 150cc. This game is also a little hard to control and perform successfully with out any mistakes in any of the races. Also, it is slow and quite hard to get drift boosts. But you can not trick in this game.
Total Review: Overall: This game has not-so-good graphics and a little of an enjoyable game. Keep in mind that this game was made in 2001.
Graphics: Not-so-good they should try to improve their graphics for Game Boy Advance games. Sound: As said before, this game had not-so-good sounds and music too. Addictiveness: When you play this game, you don't really play it again that much due to the sound and the graphics of the game.  Story: This game and the Mario Kart series did not have a main story in the game.

My First GBA Game as a Kid   austinmccrea123
This was the first game I owned for GBA as a kid.
I remember playing this baby on the classic red GBA when they first came out.
I played this all the time trying to get perfect ratings in each cup.
this definitely a great game for long road trips .
I recently went through the game after almost 15 years of not playing it since I no longer have a hard copy.
I gotta say it looks much better in the small GBA screen since it is pixelated.
I find the game to be WAY TOO EASY!  but I'm also 21 now
I  love the cloudy sky level and the Bowser castle levels the most.
it was great to play through this for the nostalgia but its not as good as it used to be.. If that makes any sense?
over all though its still a classic for the GBA regardless of what anyone says.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit Review   ShadowBlaze73
I have very fond memories of this game. It was my very first Mario Kart game, and I loved it. But let's see if this game can still compete with the other Mario Karts in the series. Here is my review of Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
Graphics: 8
The graphics look pretty well for its time and for a Game Boy Advance game. Compared to other Mario Kart games, it's not the best, but it's still a pretty good game in terms of graphics. Compared to other Game Boy Advance games, it's definitely one of the best.
Sound: 10
The music is some of the best in the series. The character sounds are well done, too. Some of my favorites are definitely Sky Garden, Cheese Land and Sunset Wilds.
Addictiveness: 10
I don't even know what to say for this part other than the fact that it's very addicting and that I'll come back to play it.
Depth: 9
There's the usual Grand Prix and Time Trial modes with 3 engine classes: 50cc, 100cc and 150cc. But instead of only 4 cups, there are 5. There's also the SNES tracks in the extra 5 cups, which makes for a total of 10 cups. A new mode, called Quick Run, is also in the game.
Difficulty: 8
Controls can be wonky at times, and trying to triple-star rank all the cups in every engine class can be a rough and rage-filled journey.
Overall Rating: 9
Mario Kart Super Circuit is a fun and great game, and also quite underrated. Trying to beat all the cups with a triple-star rank in every engine class could take years to do. The controls can be wonky on some occasions, but that doesn't reduce the fun factor. Overall, it's a great game and I highly recommend it for racing fans or just fans of Mario Kart, like me.
