Superstar Saga: Amazingly Awesome   pacman1755
The game that I have played more than I ever should have. This is Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. The game itself is quite amazing, since it is the first RPG element that isn't Paper since Super Mario RPG, which needed a sequel that was long overdue. The game itself is not what you expect from a regular Mario game either, just like Mario RPG. You face a different threat that isn't Bowser whatsoever. Cackletta, the Beanish Witch, threatens the Mushroom Kingdom by stealing Princess Peach's voice, not Peach herself. But that's plot, and we'll get into that later. So now, let's get right into the game with all of the details in between. Here we go!
Difficulty: 5
The difficulty is what you would expect from a Mario game in general. The game's puzzles are not too tough to figure out, the game's enemy attack patterns aren't ridiculous to figure out, and overall, the difficulty is very comfortable. The game isn't too tough that it'll kill the fun of it, and you won't breeze through it without thinking twice, either. This all depends on how you rank in the RPG element. You can be underpowered for the situation, or overpowered for the situation. It all depends on how you deal with the enemies you encounter throughout your journey. If you fight them, you'll get more powerful in one way or another, or you can ignore them, and try to plow through the area to get to the plot. It's up to you.
Depth: 7
The game is anything BUT a game that you can beat overnight. It's a pretty lengthy game, and has a few false finishes as well, if you know what I mean. The game makes you think it should end, but it doesn't. More plot. Anyway, the game's length in full is probably worth about 3 or so days, if you play it non-stop. Maybe 2 days if you know what you're doing. This is an RPG after all, folks. You won't get it done overnight, it never works like that. We have a lot of worlds, a lot of bosses, and a lot of side-missions as well located in the BeanBean Kingdom. (yeah, not Mushroom Kingdom for 99% of the game, imagine that) Overall, we're going through the entire BeanBean Kingdom, in full.
Story: 8
The story is as it follows, Princess Peach is welcome the Ambassador of the BeanBean Kingdom, since they happen to be neighboring Kingdoms, and before they offer their peace treaty of some sort, it becomes a trap! The Ambassador wasn't the ambassador at all, only the evil witch Cackletta and her minion Fawful, and spray Peach with some gas that absorbs her voice, and puts it in a box, replacing her voice with explosive text, with kind of a break in the 4th wall. While the Mario Bros show up, they find Bowser attempting to steal her before realizing the exploding curse, and they put their differences aside, and Mario, Luigi, and Bowser team up momentarily to travel to the BeanBean Kingdom to take back Peach's voice, and return her to normal. Only when they board the Koopa Cruiser towards the neighboring Kingdom, around the border between Mushroom and BeanBean, they are ambushed by Cackletta and Fawful, and they send the Cruiser to their demise, and everyone scatters. Bowser is launched from the Mario Bros after they fight a con monster, and they are on their own. And this is only the beginning, but I won't spoil everything from the game, but there are a LOT of plot twists, and characters. The game is definitely different from a regular Mario game.
Addictiveness: 10!
The game is SO addicting! I can literally tell you that I can play this about 20 times in a row without even stopping. I believe that's what I did too. I've deleted and restarted perfect files from all 3 file locations just to play the game all over again. It's really addicting in every aspect. The gameplay, the sprites, and everything in between keeps me intrigued, and sometimes the puns inside the game is pretty cool too.
Sound: 8
The sound effects and the music is really good in this game. I can say that it is pretty cool to listen to each significant sound byte and soundrack. Of course, nobody really has a voice, especially Mario and Luigi, who just talk gibberish to each other and the other characters, and nobody else has voices, besides their laugh, like Queen Bean, Cackletta, Fawful, and Bowser. Each area in the game has a significant soundtrack, and it fits every area with the atmospheric music. Desert music, underwater music, deserted island, even a castle theme. They did a magnificent job on this part.
Graphics: 10
The sprite quality in this freaking game is amazing. Everyone transitions right into the actions they do quite beautifully, and they are as clean as a whistle. Beyond the character models, the areas have their own good qualitites as well, especially in desert areas, you can see dusty winds blow by the area you walk in, I believe, and it is quite intriguing. Besides that, everything in the game is perfect.
Overall: 9.2
To look over each and every aspect I put into this game, I must say, this game is one of THE best Gameboy Advance games out there, or at least in the top 5. Games like this not only make me want to go back and play this over and over again, but continue to play the series of Mario & Luigi from Superstar Saga, to Partners in Time, to Bowser's Inside Story, to Dream Team. All of the games here keep the same charm I fell in love with, and I really hope that you can fall in love with it as well, and possibly even buy the real copy of this game, or at the very least, a game from the series. Anything in the game of Mario and Luigi, is amazing to me.

Mario and Luigi's Saga of Superstar Proportions   Uzar
There are bland RPG's. You know the kind. Stuck in an ambiguous medieval setting, a squishy wizard, and a dark lord/dragon threatening the Kingdom of Generica!
This however, is the total opposite of a generic RPG. One full of color, one with vibrant dialogue, fun music, an abandoned trait of Luigi, and most importantly a parody of coffee shops! Ladies and Mentlegen, I present to you the first RPG I ever played: MARIO AND LUIGI: SUPERSTAR SAGA!
Graphics: 9/10
This game looks great on the GBA! The colors are bright when they need to be. And also can be dark and mellow too. The characters all look great! Mario and Luigi look great. And so do the Toads and Beans. Although there are a few characters that you'd swear are just copied and pasted. The enemies look great too. They are all bright and unique. And the recolored harder versions of enemies are kept to a minimum. :P
The backgrounds and each location look amazing as well. They all look amazing! Some are really unique like Stardust Fields, or Joke's End. But then again, places like Bowser's Castle or some areas of Chucklehuck Woods look exactly how you'd expect. But it's a overall pleasing visual experience.
Addictiveness: 7/10
There in an incredible amount of addictiveness to this game. Not entirely because of replayability, but really just because it's so fun! During your first playthrough you'll have trouble putting the game down. There's not much else to say about it other than WARNING: HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! :P
Sound: 10/10
Superstar Saga has some of the best music you'll find on the GBA! Each location's music is incredibly catchy. They all fit their locations perfectly also. You may end up traveling back to locations just to hear the music there. :) The battle themes are great too! To this day I still have some of those in my head. My personal favorites are the one that plays when you fight a normal enemy, and the one when you fight Popple.
The sound effects are great also! The jumping, hammering, and Mario and Luigi's voices are all clear and smooth. Especially for a GBA game. Of course, Mario and Luigi mostly speak jibberish to each other. But you'll get the ocasional "Oh yeah!" or they'll say what power they're using. (Jump, Hammer, Spin, High Jump, Fire, and Thunder) They also yelp when hit by some attacks, and if Mario falls in battle, Luigi yells "MARIO!!!", and vise versa when Luigi is down. Just a neat little thing they did. Expect lots of great sound effects, and beautiful music while playing!
Depth: 6/10
The game doesn't have many sidequests to it. Just two that I can actually remember doing. But the game itself has a decently long main story to it. With a lot of locations, you'd think there would be tons to do, but Superstar Saga sadly doesn't deliver much to that. You can replay minigames for rare items though.
The sidequest I remember the most is this: Once you get a certain Hammer technique, you can interact with weird markings on the ground for beans. You can brew those beans at your friendly neighborhood Starbeans to make different blends of coffee for either Bro. They are like better versions of normal items. And with each new one you make, a certain Professor will show up with some new antics, and you get a helpful badge to put on a Bro. Enough to make one shout "Egad!" eh? :P Aside that you've only got a somewhat long main story, and that's it.
Story: 8/10
We all know the Mario routine by now right? Well, this time it's Peach's...Voice that was stolen? Well, I'm sure Mario and Luigi will make Bowser give it back. Huh? Bowser comes in right after her voice was stolen? Weird...So, the TRUE perpetrator according to Toadsworth is the Beanbeabean Kingdom's Goodwill Ambassador. And they replaced her voice with an explosive vocabulary! So Mario, Luigi, and even Bowser set off together to find the two beans responsible and set things straight.
It's a pretty good story, not what I was expecting of it anyway. There are plenty twists and turns to the story too. It's well written, and more importantly, as fun as the game itself! It's definitely one you won't soon forget.
Difficulty: 6/10
The game isn't TOO hard. There are a few puzzles that may give you trouble. But it won't be anything too bad. The battles aren't too much either. Some bosses you may find really hard, but that may be because you're a bit under leveled for the fight. The game has a rough cycle of you being REALLY under leveled, or really overpowered. And with the right badges, you can make really quick work of almost any fight. While tricky to do, it really does kick a few notches off the difficulty.
It's not as bad as I made it sound, trust me. This is one of those games everyone needs to play at least once. :D
Battling itself is really easy to do. A is all of Mario's moves, while B is all of Luigi's. You have a three different kinds of attacks: Jump, Hammer, and Fire/Thunder. Think Paper Mario, but with one more kind of attack to it. Then instead of magic, or flower points. We have Bro Points. You can spend these to unleash a powerful Bro's Attack! Which is exactly what it sounds like. Both Mario and Luigi team up to unleash a rather powerful attack on their foe. Well, powerful if you hit the right buttons at the right time that is. :P
The only major complaint I have is, the Starbeans sidequest was supposed to feature a lot more Nintendo characters. Like Warrio, Fox, Olimar, Link, and an Excitebike rider. Nothing really big, but having something like that would have made the game a perfect 10 for me. :P
Superstar Saga is incredibly fun! I enjoyed almost every minute spent playing it! It's an interesting take on the RPG series. The wackyness of Mario mixed in with a better story, interesting characters, and good writing. But that is kind of expected by Mario RPG standards. But that's why they're so beloved by fans. It's not often when Peach isn't kidnapped by Bowser. But when it comes to that, oh boy, you're in for a treat! xD
With a port on the Wii U, the GBA cartridge becoming cheaper online, and our lovely RGR. You'll have plenty of opportunity to experience this game for yourself. :)

Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga   tj4bigred
Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga
Is it wrong I like the Mario and Luigi line more than classic side-scrolling Mario? This game is a masterpiece. A home run for Nintendo. They took classic RPG elements, our favorite plumber siblings, and a huge adventure, and topped it all off with a large amount of comedy. This game is funny as could be, and one of my top 10 GBA games. If you haven't played this game, then stop reading right now... AND PLAY IT!!!
The maps are littered with monsters who Mario and Luigi must defeat in turn-based battle. On their turn Mario and Luigi can:
Solo Attack: Jumping on the opponent hurting it in classic Mario way, hitting opponent with hammer, or using a fire(Mario) or Lightning(Luigi).
Bros Attack: special moves that do more damage through proper technique, but cost use up BP.
Run: Run away from the opponent. You can still get hurt while running way and will lose coins, but it's the only way to escape battle.
Winning a battle earns coins(to buy items and gear) and experience. When you level up, your HP, BP(move energy), POW(attack power), DEF(Defense), Speed(to determine turn order), and, the strangest, Stache(increases critical hits and affects prices at stores.)
Many techniques can be performed in the field to reach new areas, like spin jumping, smashing Mario to tiny size so he can reach small areas, and Luigi turning into a surfboard. These all make exploring the Bean Kingdom a blast in this game.
Graphics-
They're beautiful. Seeing Mario in all his glory like this? It is utterly awesome. The maps can be colorful and bright, or dark and ominous. Most of the enemies are unique, ie. You probably have never seen them before, and I have to say, they look great. A nice little Easter egg: When Mario and Luigi get they're pictures taken at the very beginning, you can press the arrow keys to make them do different comical poses. It's little things, but it really makes me think Nintendo went all out on this one.
Sound-
Oh, is the music catchy. Its a wonderful soundtrack, and the bar of expectation I set for other GBA games. All games should sound so good. The battle music has a nice beat, and Mario and Luigi will dance to it if left idle. I really like the noises Fawful makes when he's talking. But I'll talk about Fawful later. Overall, this is some of the best Sound on the GBA.
Addictiveness-
Gosh it sure does suck you in. When I would play this game on my SP, I could play for four hours straight, without a care in the world. The battles are so interactive, which makes the game more wholly worth experiencing. Unlocking new moves, leveling up, finding new areas... It has all the right components for a great RPG.
Story-
Out of 10? At least 15. I love this series more than any other when it comes to telling a story and being comedic about it. It is an epic tale, your typical plumber-meets-princess kind of thing. But wait? Cackletta has stolen Peach's voice! Mario is too noble to let such injustice go by without punishment! And Luigi decides to trail along too. This game would only get 9/10 without Fawful. So let's talk about Fawful.
Fawful-
This guy. He is a little bit short. Fawful is a mechanical genius and sidekick of Cackletta. He often speaks in improper English, and has severe rage issues. He hates the Bros. He's funny. You don't realize how funny Nintendo can be until you play this game. Fawful's two most famous quotes:
"And this battle shall be the delicious mustard on that bread! The mustard of your doom!"
"I have FURY!"
Fawful is hilarious and a great part of the games plot.
Depth-
Even though the game is already very long, 20 hours at least, I still wish there was some post story. Once the credits roll, there isn't much to do. I'm just nit-picking though as Superstar Saga offers a ton of content. I think it's definitely worth investing some time into.
Difficulty-
While the game wasn't too difficult, there are some challenges, like the frustratingly difficult Border Jump, and other specific bosses. Luckily, unlike most RPGs, this game doesn't require much if any grinding to beat it.
Overall this is a top five GBA game, and deserves more credit as a quality Mario game. WHY ARE YOU STILL READING?! PLAY THE GAME!!!

Mario & Luigi review   patar4097
Mario and Luigi was the first Mario RPG to make it to a handheld console, and the first of the Mario and Luigi series. Superstar saga is the only one to be on the Gameboy Advance, and was also packed in with the classic Mario Bros, just like most of the GBA Mario games.
If you haven’t played one of the Mario and Luigi games, it has battles that use turn by turn gameplay. But unlike the Paper Mario series, you have the ability to avoid the opponents’ attacks all together. But you control both Mario and Luigi at the same time, so you also have to figure out which bro the enemy is going to attack. You can upgrade badges, pants, and bonus items, which can either strengthen up the bros, give them a special ability, or even both. This adds an extra bit of strategy. For instance, a powerup can give you the power to jump on spiky enemies, but does not give your power much extra strength. It makes you think which equipment would be best in each situation.

Story: 9.5 The story is nice, because it changes the normal Mario formula. This time, some new enemies, Cackletta and Fawful steal Peach’s voice, and replace it with an exploding vocabulary. This causes panic in the kingdom, so Mario is called to look at the scene. By this time, Bowser was already there. He was originally going to kidnap Peach, but after he learned that Peach’s words explode, decided to help Mario and Luigi get her voice back, so THEN he could kidnap her. So you go off the Beanbean kingdom, the neighbor to the Mushroom kingdom to defeat Cackletta, and get Peach’s voice back.
The rest of the story is pretty good as well. Has some twists, and doesn’t really get stale. But this is just the start of it. The best part about the story is the comedy. This game has great moments. There is some great dialogue, funny animations, and just genius in every way. Mario and Luigi talk in fake Italian gibberish. They also have tons of great poses and movements, and really feel like characters; something that hasn’t really been accomplished with a Mario game before. But best of all is Fawful. Throughout the game, he insults toward Mario and Luigi are hilarious. Such as the classic “Fink-rats!” and "I drizzled rage dressing on the country next door. Rage dressing on a salad of evil!" He’s such a great character, he has been in the first three Mario and Luigi games, and the main villain in the third.
Gameplay: 8Like I said before, it reminds me a lot of Paper Mario. But in Mario and Luigi, you feel more involved in the battles. Plus, the bro moves, which are like the special moves in this game, are fun to use. If you push the right button combos at the right times, you will be rewarded with a much better attack, and you can eventually get advanced versions, making them stronger. It is really fun finding all of these different moves. Now, like most RPGs, the level grinding can be tedious, but if you are skilled enough, you can move on without grinding.
Sound: 8.5There is tons of great music in this game. There are some classics as usual, but they all get fresh remixes that match the game perfectly. This is one of those games where I end up humming the tunes constantly. The one downfall for the music is the battle music. There are only two different songs that you will come upon, besides the final boss; normal battles and boss battles. Although I love both of these tracks, the normal battle music gets repetitive. Some different music for different zones would be a nice change.
Graphics: 9 – This game looks great. The backgrounds are all bright and beautiful, the enemies all look pretty good, and the animations are near perfection. Another cool thing is when Mario or Luigi get to low health, they look tired. This is much better than something like Pokémon, where low health is noticed by annoying beeping. And it makes you feel like you need to heal them.
Difficulty: 4 – To be honest, this game is very easy. If you battle all the enemies that you encounter without running away, you should have no problem. The only part where it could be hard is in the final area. There are some puzzles that may take a second to get, and some nice platforming, but it never reaches the point of unplayable, and almost never frustrating. But some of the mini games can be hard to finish on the last level, such as the barrel game, and the mine karts. But the parts that are necessary for these games are never too hard.
Addictiveness: 9 – This is one of those games that kept hold of me until the end. I always wanted to see what’s next, and kept on thinking “just one more battle”. And by the time I was done, I wanted to get to level 100 (although I never got there) just because I didn’t want to stop. It grabs hold of you with its great graphics, amazing dialogue and overall comedy, and that old Mario charm.
Depth: 9 – The game will take about 20 to 25 hours to complete. The main problem I have with the depth is that there is nothing to do after the game. Once you beat the game, you go back to the last save state. The fact that you can’t even roam the Beanbean kingdom to see what people say to you for saving the world is a little disappointing. I feel almost like the final battle isn’t as good if nothing happens after.
Overall: 9.4This game has it all; great battle system, great design, and tons of humor. The game still holds up with the other games in the series, and is one of the best games on the entire system. There are some fun minigames that you might come back to, and one of the best stories for a Mario game. If you like Pokémon, Paper Mario, or the Mother series, you should play this game.
Thanks for reading my review! Please rate, and if you want, comment on it. Criticism is accepted. Thanks, and God bless!

Review and Review Superstar Review   PixelBrick
Before I start off the review, let me say...how can a Nintendo RPG get any better? I am reviewing an RPG for Nintendo's mascot because I thought this specific game met the standards of a five star game. Shigeru Miyamoto, thanks for this game! So now let me just say, let the review begin and enjoy the following content.
Story: 9/10
Finally we get an original story to the Mario Brothers franchise. I think Miyamoto decided that they were going to make an RPG, and the ordinary Mario story line wouldn't make this game interesting. But let's get to the story. On a dashing peaceful day at the Mushroom Kingdom with fireworks and cheering, Peach is celebrating the ambassador of the BeanBean Kingdom, a kingdom across the kingdom we know and love (I love saying kingdom!). Peach, sitting on her throne, watches as the ambassador and her servant walks up to her to present a gift. Peach opens the gift with scarce. It's a jack in the box! It spews out noxious gas at Princess Peach which causes her to pass out! Somebody's farts has caused havoc in the kingdom! The 'ambassador' just laughs with his servant and takes Peach while all the toadsjust panic. Now Toad goes to Mario's house to inform him about the news. Mario freaks out and takes his sidekick brother Luigi with him dragging him along trying to put on his clothes. Mario and Luigi run to the kingdom to see Bowser yelling at Peach and two toads. You find out that the gas caused replacing Peach's dreaded C- voice into explosive vocabulary. When she talks, bombs come out of her speech box (Frankly, I would rather have her explosive vocabulary than her voice). The ambassador, which wasn't the real ambassador has taken Peach's 'lovely' voice to awaken the Bean Star to grant the perpetrator power. The perpetrator was Cackaletta with her servant Fawful. Bowser realizes that he cannot kidnap Peach in the condition she's in now. He tells Mario to do something super. They all realize they must travel to the kingdom to battle Cacky once and for all. They hop onto the Koopa Cruiser and the adventure begins to the BeanBean Kingdom!
Graphics: 8/10
Great, now I'm on to a point where I have no idea what to say. The graphics in this game are top of the line for a Game Boy Advance game. Miyamoto wanted to turn things up a notch, so this is what came to be. An RPG with very good graphics. The sprites are well designed and all the art in the game. To be honest, graphics don't matter. It's the gameplay. So we have a pretty good combination here in this game. Good graphics and good gameplay. Like I said, how can a Nintendo RPG get possibly better? The graphics in this game will encourage you to play this game. I feel bad for the person who had to make the sprites. They look like they took a while to design.
Sound: 9/10
The audio compression of this game brings all the nostalgia to the fan boys. Like the sprites in the game, the audio will encourage you to like this game. There's remixes of old Mario themes, original music as well, the sound effects are, well some are from classic games, and some of original from this game. This takes the music of Mario games to a whole new level, and if you would play this game to hear the sound in this game, you would agree. And this RPG wasn't very popular so many people missed out on this game. This will make you wish every video game store had Game Boy games. I mean, come on! They're not that old! What's sad about this is that Mario has no dialogue.
Addicting Power Level: Over 9,000 (10/10)
As I said, this game has amazing gameplay. This game is very addicting for all Nintendo fans. With all the depth this game offers (will be explained in the depth category), you just want to keep replaying the game over and over again. With what this game offers, all of that is molded into a masterpiece of gaming history (I'm acting like I'm ranting about the Nintendo Entertainment System :D). I honestly have no more to say about how addicting this game is which is sad because I love typing long and descriptive reviews. Well I guess I'm wasting my time. Let's move on to the longest category of all my reviews....depth. DUN DUN DUN!
Depth: 9/10
Okay, now that I'm done ranting about how much depth this classic offers, let me actually EXPLAIN it in the RIGHT category. Let's start with items. I'll start with the beans in this game. Beans are used for a new mechanic when you enter BeanBean castle. Outside of BeanBean castle, there's a coffee shop that is supposed to reference Starbucks. You use the beans scattered around the kingdom to make coffee there. You mix beans, use a singular type of bean, and the coffee gives raises your buffs. Not in battle, but outside of battle. Like attack or defense. Right after you acquire your cup of coffee, there's a cutscene. All of them involve the star Professor E. Gadd. After he tries your coffee, he will say it's delicious, and he will give you an item. One for each type of coffee. The items give you powers in battle if equipped. Only one bro can use an item though. The types of beans are, the Hee Bean which you get for replaying minigames like the arcade game in Little Fungi Town which gets you a massive amount of beans, Chuckle Beans which can be dug up by Luigi after you acquire a special move that is used on the overworld, the Hoo Bean, which is found from hitting invisible blocks, and Wee Beans which are dropped from enemies outside BeanBean Castle. Woah, woah woah. What about the special move? Well since you control Mario and Luigi at the same time, you learn moves that are used for stuff in the overworld. Those moves give you a bros move? Bros moves are used in battle with an enemy. You must press A and B in a certain order to deal a good amount of damage to the enemy. The Bros moves have multiple modes. If you set it to 3, no button icons will show, and it will not be in slow motion, but however the move will deal a lot of damage. This game offers so many areas to explore. All filled with monsters you must battle. In Hoo Hoo Village, you get hammers from two mysterious old men. They can be used in battle or in the overworld to whack stuff in style. If you go to the Hammer Bros' secret cave (They gave you the hammers in the first place, and they are NOT the Hammer Bros from the Mario games), they will upgrade your hammer. There is also two secrets in their cave. Throughout the game, you will get items that will heal you or raise your buffs. They can be bought in shops or stolen from enemies or gotten from ? Blocks. You also get, throughout the game clothes to suit up your Bros for action. Some gear will raise your buffs or take down a buff while adding up your buff. The battles in this game are basically like any other RPG. Someone attacks first, then the other attacks. You can dodge the enemy attacks unlike Pokemon games though. So let's get to the minigames in this. All of them are mandatory throughout the adventure. There is a border jump roping game, a barrel organizing game, the arcade game I told you about, and minigames which are hammer based games. Replaying them will result you into getting Hee Beans. Don't get me started on how much fun the minecart minigame is. Let's get to the button icons. A is to control Mario. B is to control Luigi. If you're standing next to an NPC which you can talk to, there will be a symbol where the button icon is. Press A or B, whoever is right next to the NPC to talk to him/her/it. Press R or L to switch modes. To hammer, long jump, or the spin jump. Now let me explain some of the thrilling areas you explore throughout BeanBean Kingdom. Tee Hee Valley, Hoo Hoo Village, Hoo Hoo Mountain, Hoo Hoo University, BeanBean Castle, Chuckluck (However you spell it) Woods. Now let's rewind to some of the enemies in the game. Some of them are from past Mario games like Rex or Goomba or the Snifit. Miyamoto must have wanted to put classic Mario bits into this RPG. Speaking of which, in Hoo Hoo University, there's a room that explains the ? Blocks from past games like Super Mario 64 or Super Mario World. Hitting them will create the sound effect from the said game. On an unrelated note, in this game for once you get to play as Toad for, like, five minutes...or whatever length of time it takes you to walk to Mario's bathroom. Yeah, I said it. BATHROOM. Let's rewind to one of the most unique features in the game. In the Koopa Cruiser, there is a photographer who will take your picture. That picture will be in the suitcase forever, and will be on your passport. One picture for each bro (And the suitcase will be explained later on). When you're getting your picture ready, the photographer will say, "Don't go pressing Up, Down, Left, Right on the D Pad to make any goofy poses!" You can do so to make a silly picture. Or press Right to make a manly pose. If you don't like your picture, you can change it. Behind BeanBean castle will be a creepy photographer that will take a new picture for a few coins. Now let's move on to the suitcase. Given to you by Toadsworth, it holds lots of things. You can equip gear, use items, keep track of your picture and coins, and see your stats of each of the bros. Coins are your currency in stores. You get them from ? Blocks, monsters, or people who give you coins as rewards. It's sort of like Runescape by doing quests for people, don't you think? No? Just me? Okay then! Okay, as you can see this game offers a LOT of depth. I will not explain the rest. Play the game for yourself. You probably got bored by this review. Now to the next category...
Difficulty: 6/10
The difficulty in this game...this game is honestly not that hard. You all remember GBA games to be hard, right? This game is remarkably easy to play. Easy boss fights, easy puzzles, easy EVERYTHING. This RPG is really easy, if you play it right. The game can be difficult at the END, but overall, this game is REALLY not that hard. If you want a challenge, don't play this. Just saying for the record.
Overall: 10/10
As you can see, this game offers good sound, good graphics, good gameplay, and good depth to offer. This game is pretty remarkable, and Miyamoto really did a good job and all of the over developers. This genius work is a masterpiece and I'm glad I could buy a copy of this game for my Game Boy. This game is unreal. Everything about it. This was a very down-rated game like Super Mario Sunshine. This game was hated also like Sunshine. Nintendo Power said this was the worst RPG ever. I highly disagree with them. But Nintendo Power always lies (Like when thou said in a 2009 issue that Sunshine was the worst Mario game to ever exist. I can't wait to review Sunshine when it comes from the Video Game Room!). Guys, I would love if you guys would take the time to actually play this game. You will be stunned by its gameplay, and this is why I rate the game high.
Anyways, I hope you guys liked my review. It took long enough to type. Farewell! :)

Cheers to Red and Greenie!   juuldude
When I first came to Vizzed, it was especially for two games. One of them was Hamtaro Ham Ham Heartbreak, as I had played its prequel on a site called PlayR. The other game I wanted to play was this game, because around that time Bowser's Inside Story came out and discovered that there was this game as well and I could play it online. I asked my mom if I could download the plug in and after I had the allowance to do so, I played the game. However, I quit at some point because I didn't train enough and the last worlds were getting too tough for me.
I tried this game a second time but lost motivation halfway and quit again. But then I tried a third time, and recently I finally finished this game, 3-4 years after I tried this game for the first time and signed up for Vizzed.
This game is one of my all time favourites and it's really impressive, so I really am excited to make this review, let's get this started!
Story: 10
If you have played platfomers from Mario, then the story is very simple. Bowser kidnaps Peach and you rescue her. However, if you play a Mario RPG then you will be impressed by the various and interesting stories, this one is no exception.
The story starts at Peach's Castle, there are fireworks because the 'Goodwill Ambassador' from the neighbor Beanbean Kingdom arrives. Two people walk in, a long person with a yellow kind of cloak and a little person who is holding a small box. The long person says that she wishes to improve her kingdom's ties with the Mushroom Kingdom, and she brings a gift from Queen Bean. The little person walks up with the box, when suddenly a small jack in the box comes out and blows gas on Peach. The toads, who were standing as a guard of honor with blazons, are shocked. The long person reveals itself, and it turns out to be somebody else, and she casts lightning everywhere. The little person is also part of the plan, and sucks up the gas around Peach with some kind of vacuum helmet. Peach faints, and the two laugh as two evil persons would do and they fly out of the castle to some kind of thundercloud resembling the long person.
The story then goes to Mario & Luigi his house, and we see Luigi hanging up Mario his clothes outside on a line. A toad comes rushing in and he asks Luigi if he read the Kingdom Courier but Luigi shakes his head, meaning he hasn't and the toad runs inside the house to look for Mario. He finds Mario but he finds him naked (don't worry, we only know this because we hear him screaming behind a wall) in the shower and immediately runs out, heavily ashamed and runs against a closet. Mario comes out with a towel around his body, goes to the toad and jumps on his head. The toad mutters something about Princess Peach, rushes outside, jumps in his hanging clothes, gets dressed in one second and runs to the castle pulling behind him Luigi, strangling in the line.
When they enter the castle, they see Bowser and attack him on accident. A fight starts which Mario easily wins and the toads explain that Peach her voice is stolen. The perpetrator came from the Beanbean Kingdom. Bowser decides to take Mario along on his quest to rescue Peach her voice, so that he can kidnap her without causing his castle to blow up because of Peach her current voice, which are explosives.
Throughout their quest, a lot of things will happen. Luigi was originally planning to stay home but Bowser thinks he's a minion and takes him on board. They will meet the villains, the long Cackletta and her small pupil Fawful and Fawful will fight with the Mario Bros. He loses, but blows up the Koopa Cruiser, Bowser his airship, and the brothers crash down, trying to save Bowser but he gets shot off by a cannon, leaving the brothers alone on their quest. However, he returns later on. The bros also learn that Prince Peasley, the hero of the Beanbean Kingdom (like what Mario is for the Mushroom Kingdom) has disappeared, and was last seen talking with somebody who matches the
description of Fawful. They find Fawful and he blocks the brothers their part.
This story gets a lot of interesting plot twists later on, which I really would like to tell but then I would give away a lot of important spoilers. But let's say that this is one of the most weirdest and awesome stories ever.
The characters are also interesting. For the villains, we have Cackletta, a beanish (the Beanbean Kingdom race, like what toads are for the Mushroom Kingdom) witch who is capable of using lightning, makes evil jokes and is your typical baddie. Fawful on the other hand, speaks Engrish (bad English) and will often say weird stuff, like 'I have fury!' (which is his trademark line) and 'Since you won't make it in time I say it's better never than late...'. He's in fact so cool, that he is the main villain in Bowser's Inside Story (the third game in the Mario & Luigi series)!
But we also have another villain named Popple, who calls himself 'the Shadow Thief' and is often battled in the game as well. He's a really funny character and although he has a bit of a small role he appears in Dream Team Bros. (the 3DS game and newest in the Mario & Luigi series)
For the heroes, we have Prince Peasley who I already mentioned. Not only is he saved by the bros sometimes, he also saves the bros himself a few times. Although he's nice and brave he's a bit arrogant too, often showing of his hair (which can light the whole room) and tricking the bros with a competition for a lot of money. The Toadsworth is Lady Lima, and unlike Toadsworth who can faint very easily she will rather cry when she is scared. But she also is wise and helps the bros too. Cackletta was disguised as Lady Lima in the intro as well. And the ruler of this country is Queen Bean, a big and busty queen with a great heart and a big smile. Just like Peach, she is very nice, helps out in any way possible and is capable of making wise decisions.
The Mario bros also have different personalities. We know Mario as our all round hero. Luigi is a bit more of a coward but he's also very funny, for example drinking tea or poking somebody when Mario is talking seriously with somebody else. But he also has various moments in the game where he has to help Mario, showing off that he can be really brave on his own.
Throughout the game, you will meet a lot of people, like a soda creator, a yoshi fan, a girl who plays at an abandoned palace and many others. They're all very quirky, talk in a different manner and often they will fight you, showing off funny and interesting battle moves.
Graphics: 10
For a GBA game the graphics are amazing. Mario & Luigi have many sprites, a lot of characters come with different faces and expressions, enemies have unique battle sprites. There are the most colourful places, like the purple Stardust Fields, the blue Joke's End, yellow Teehee Valley and a lot of other places. You'll immediately understand what everything is, so you won't be surprised to see things like flames, shock waves or poisonous mushrooms. There are a lot of different races to be found in the Beanbean Kingdom, so there are many different looking people as well, you will see toads in Little Fungitown, Yoshis in the Yoshi Theater, but also Oho Jees on Oho Oasis, and the Hoohooligans in Hoohoo Village. You will also see people with shocked expressions, delighted expressions, happy expressions, just all kinds of different expressions.
Sound: 9
As for the sounds, there are a lot of unique sounds. Mario and Luigi talk in some fake Italian gibberish but they will also say things like 'oki dokey', 'mama mia', 'oh yeah!' and 'whoooaaaa!', so it's easy to understand them. When they talk in gibberish, the people who they are talking too almost repeat the same thing they are saying, so you'll know what they said. There is however one moment where somebody doesn't understand them and asks them to be more clear. Other important characters have sounds too. Prince Peasley will either laugh like 'Ha hahahaha!' or you will hear him saying 'hey!'. Queen Bean also can be heard laughing like 'Oh haw ha ha ha!'. Cackletta has two sounds, an evil laugh and a sound like 'hnnnn!' which she will make when she is irritated. Tolstar, the king of the Stardust Fields, has some kind of troll laugh. But the one with the most sounds is Fawful: He can laugh, make an angry sound, make a surprised/disappointed sound, or a sound that sounds like he is shocked, a bit like 'woo cha!'. There are a lot of other sounds as well of course, sound for opening gates, sounds for jumps, for coins, for fire, for thunder, for surfing, for talking, for hammers, so actually, where aren't there any sounds?
As for the music, there is a lot of new and interesting music. This game has 6 battle themes in total for example! Almost every place has an unique music, so you can easily recognize places. And one of the places in this game (Oho Oasis) has a music that is partly covered in a place called Driftwood Shore in Dream Team. The only reason that I wouldn't rate the music a 10 is because there are a lot music tracks that are just remixes of songs from other games, like the too-familiar Super Mario Bros theme, the over world theme from Super Mario World, the Starman Theme, the underground theme from Super Mario Bros and the Peach's Castle theme from Mario 64. They are nice too hear, but the game could have been more original in my opinion.
Gameplay: 10
Overworld:
Many games simply have a person blocking an important road, or just some place that has to be repaired before you can go there. But here it's different. Throughout the game, you'll have to learn new moves, or you will need hammers to continue somewhere. It also depends on who is walking in front. For example, if Mario is in front, you can use a jumping move called the High Jump (this move will be learned somewhere in the beginning) which allows you to jump higher than usual. But if Luigi is in front (this is the only game so far where you can walk with Luigi in front, Luigi for the win!) you can use a move called the Spin Jump (same with the High Jump, later learned), which allows you to fly over gaps and this move also returns in every other Mario & Luigi game. Mario is also the only one who can drink a lot of water, and when he does, Luigi has to jump on him, hit him with his hammer or he has to tickle him so that he'll spit it out, which is often required to solve some puzzles.
There are also some parts where Mario has to enter a hole on his own because a hammer hit by Luigi made him small enough (this is a move that is also later learned later on) to go through that hole, and then you'll get some 2D jumping place and if you reach the end you'll be rewarded by a golden Monty Mole, often with strong clothes and badges.
But with I find most unique is how the brothers can travel when it comes to the sea. At first you will only learn how to travel underwater, where you have to jump to swim and where big gaps can be crossed with just swimming instead of using your moves. Everything also slows a bit down, just like in real life! There are still some battles, and for some weird reason it's possible for fire to burn underwater.
Near the end of the game however, you will learn how to surf! Luigi will function as a surfboard while Mario stands on his brother and you can use this to reach islands a lot faster than traveling underwater. And the coin blocks change to coin balloons instead!
Battles:
The battles in this game follow a simple turn-to-turn system, so that means that the Mario bros will attack, and then the monsters will attack. But if the monsters are faster, they might attack first. The Mario bros can use three solo actions: Jump, Hammer (later obtained in the game) or Hand (later obtained, and this is also the only game where you have Hand moves!). The jump move is simple, just before the brother hits the enemy you have to press A for Mario or B for Luigi. The bros can't jump on spiked enemies though, that will hurt themselves. When a hammer is used, A or B must be pressed when the hammer is swinging. Hammers can be used for spiked enemies, and sometimes you can get an enemy dizzy, so they won't attack then. The Hand powers will have to build up until they've reached a certain point to be strong enough, and then A or B has to be pressed. BUT, since Mario has a fire hand and Luigi a thunder hand, the effects might differ. Attacks can be critical, but you can also HEAL enemies. So you really need to watch out.
When the brothers will learn how to combine moves in the overworld, then they will learn bros moves to use in the battle. In all other games from the series, the brothers will use items, but in this game they will solely use their skills and hammers, how awesome is that? Using these moves costs points however, so when you don't have enough points anymore you can't use them. The moves come in three difficulty moves, the hardest one with normal speed and no button signs, the easiest one with slow mo and button signs. How harder the mode, how more damage can be dealt. Also, when an attack is done perfect for a certain amount in the hardest mode, an advanced version can be learned. In that way, the brothers will be able to continuously attack, to hit two enemies instead of one, do extra damage to spiked enemies and many other great benefits.
Dodging and countering enemy attacks is not too hard. The bros can jump or hit something with their hammer to counter or dodge. For example, when Bowser spits flames, you'll have to jump to not get burned. When a spiked enemy walks in, you'll have to hit it with a hammer. The only tricky thing is, you will not always know which bro the enemies are going to attack, so you'll have to look for small hints they give away. Sometimes it's very easy, but it can be very difficult sometimes, so if you're not sure, then counter/dodge with both bros.
When you win a battle, you'll get experience points. If the bros have enough they will level up and their stats will increase a bit. But you also get to choose one stat that you will increase a little more! If your bros lack in one stat, you can give them fancy clothes or badges to make them stronger as well.
Addictiveness: 10
I have played this game about 3-4 times now, and every time I enjoyed myself. It's easy to pick this game up, and there things like boss battles or funny puzzles that will want you to play again. Even now I would love to play this game again (but I'm playing Partners in Time at the moment, its sequel). You can play this game for 5 minutes but also for an hour if you want, since you don't have to grind a lot.
Depth: 8
This game has a lot to offer: Many boss battles, sidequests, a lot of minigames, clothing and badges that can be stolen from enemies. But, if you would do the storyline only you can finish this game in less than 10 hours. It took me more than 17 hours to beat this game with sidequests and other small things done. Although it can be big for a Mario game, I'm sure there are games that will take a lot more time. I can't think of anything however that they could have done to make this game bigger, so maybe it's as big as it can get for a GBA game.
Difficulty: 7
Since there are a lot of tutorials and easy enemies, this game won't offer too much difficulty. The controls are simple, battles are easy to pick up, and you can quickly get the hang of minigames. The first time I really had trouble was near the end of the game where you visit a place called Joke's End, where you have split up with the brothers to progress, so that means you'll get difficult battles and difficult minigames. It also has a very difficult boss, that boss was the reason I quit this game the first try. The last world and bosses also are difficult, but the rest of the game didn't give me too much trouble.
Overall: 9.8
This is one of the best games I've ever played, and it comes close to some great DS games. You get the feeling from this game that they included everything that they could've think of and what they possible could have put in the game. I had a lot of fun with this game and I really recommend it to anyone who either likes Mario games, RPG's or GBA games in general. I looked around and couldn't find reviews about this game that rated the game low, which just shows how great this is.
I hope you liked my review, I really put my heart into this review as this is just one of the games I can't stop thinking about. This is as big as my reviews can get I guess :P
And yes, I turned off my layout since this is my biggest review so far :P

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 9.5
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is one of the most interesting games ever, especially when you can use Mario and Luigi.  I own this game and I still have it now.  It is one of the funnest games I have ever played on the GBA.
Graphics - 10
The graphics are amazing.  It is one of those games that looks very cool and the enemies are very interesting to see and what they are made.  It does not look bad, it is 100% perfect in graphics.
Sound - 10
The sound is perfect.  It brings back the sounds of Mario and Luigi jumping and the sound effects of what they would sound like in the Mario games.  They made this game very well.
Addictiveness - 8
I would play this most of the time because it is like Super Mario RPG with the level ups.  I played one of the files on my GBA and Mario is on level 64 and Luigi is on 63, that is pretty impressive because when you get to the boss of the game, you would be in a range of level 30 to 50.  I am just leveling up till I get to my highest point.
Story - 8
The story is very good, but is different.  I am going to try to make it specific as possible because I do not remember the enemies' names.  A bean king disguises himself and so is his assistant and they go to Peach's Castle and see the princess.  They do something to steal her voice and now Peach talks with symbols that come down and blow up (which is kind of weird to explain, but if you played it, you would understand).  Bowser tries to capture her, but he realizes that he can't take her because of her voice, so Mario and Luigi try to go and get her voice back from the evil king bean (yes, the boss is a bean and his minions are beans).  It is kind of a weird story, but when you understand it, you will start to like it.  Luigi in this game is very funny and acts as a weakling.  He would get scared a lot and Mario would act like he is very brave.  That is how Luigi rolls, he isn't braver than Mario.
Depth - 9
The game has a lot of features and is a long game to play.  There are beans you can get and turn them into coffee to gain power ups in your stats.  You can equip things that can make you stronger.  There is a lot of things you can do in this game, and there are 9 worlds that you have to beat to get to the boss.
Difficulty - 3
The game is not that hard.  It is not like Final Fantasy 1, you can get level ups if you are having trouble battling enemies.  What I would do is sometimes listen to what they are saying because I kind of got lost some of the time for not listening what I had to do.
Wrap Things Up...
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is a good GBA game, there is a game called Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and another game that has to do with Mario and Luigi going back into the past (I do not know what the title is called).  I highly recommend trying this game out, it is a whole lot of fun and a big adventure for Mario and Luigi. :)

M&L Superstar Saga Review   yoshirulez!

I've never really been a fan of super mario games, But this one caught my eye about 3 years ago when i joined vizzed. I REALLY didn't like it. I thought it was the biggest piece of garbage in video game history. I despised the stuffing out of this game. Because i thought it was way too hard. Years later, I obtained this game from my cousin, And i fell in love with it. I suppose at the time, I wasn't very good at turn based RPG's besides pokemon. So, After boycotting the game so long and recieving it, I learned that it's easier if you turn off the reaction commands. It was probably the biggest derp moment of my life. I don't want to drag on for too long so I'll start the review.

Graphics:8. The graphics are somewhat good compared to other titles released on the system, But could be a lot better. I suppose if you would do that you may have to cut back on other features of the game, But that's understandable. So i can see why they went with the graphics on this.

I enjoyed the graphics. They're "pretty". But i honestly think it's a bit weird that most of them have to do with beans. I mean, Could they not have went with a better subject? Beans! What's with beans?

The bright shiny colors of certain places may be hard on the eyes, But if you can get past that it's quite pleasant to look at. Although some of the things may not make much sense. Such as to why there's bean pictures everywhere. I'm pretty sure the game doesn't revolve around beans.

Although they don't look like other super mario graphics, I think the new turn of graphics is good for the system. If they looked more looked like other titles for the GBA such as medal of honor infiltrator, It wouldn't really work In my opinion. Medal of honor infiltrator looks a bit clamation, Whereas this looks more cartoony.

I also noticed, That looking through a ROM of the game, There is several sprites that were supposed to be in the coffee place. Such as fox, Captain olimar and pikmin. These sprites look pretty darn good, And i wish it was included in the game. 8/10.

Sound:4. Wasn't really impressed with the sound on this... Although the yoshis sound cute, the boinging of mario is way too generic. Sounds like half a dozen other games out there. Although i suppose that's what they were looking for, More SMB sounding effects.

Usually when characters talk in GBA games, It never really sounds quite like a human voice. Although it does with this game. I was suprised to see that there were voices. The voices sound good, But the voices REALLY don't fit the characters... But ehh.... To each their own. And by that i mean my opinion is your opinion

Music:8. Usually in GBA titles, They reuse music from previous games. They did it here too. But, That's not to say it doesn't sound good. It's rather nostalgic, And they redid it a bit here. They also creted entirely new music, Such as that beany village place, And the final battle music. A lot of the time you may get annoying earworms from them, But some of them are good.

The minigame music is my favorite, It uses the old music from whenever you get a star in SMB, mixed with some pretty peppy music to help you concentrate. I myself suck at most of the minigames, so it really helps me out at times.

The music for the barrel game is interesting. It's that one from super mario world. Although i have never really played to far into that game. And i only recently played it so i can't say it's nostalgic for me. But if you played SMW as a kid, It would be very nostalgic.

Addictiveness:6. They game is fairly addictive, But may get old after a while of playing it. After you beat the game, There's a little to do... You could go around, Do some sidequests, Brew all of the coffee, And look for all of the items. After that there's not really much you can do besides try to trainthe characters to the highest level, Or train their stats to the highest level using coffee. Initially i thought that this was had a high replay value, But after i beat it it got pretty boring. 6/10.

Story:6. The story is... quite odd. The beany whatever kingdom, Made a peace offering to the mushroom kingdom. (I have no idea why though) And it turns out, it was some weird midget dude, And some wannabe princess/queen or whatever, Steals peaches voice. Supposedly to awaken some sort of bean idol treasure that grants wishes. So the wannabe can rule the world or something. So mario and luigi have to go beat her up. That's pretty much what i got from the story. Other than that, It seems like a typical legend of zelda storyline. Person steals princess/something the princess has, Dude goes to beat up the person and retrieve it. The thing the persons after is some sort of thing that grants wishes and power. Not very original... 6/10.

Depth:5. Like i said above, There's a little to do after beating the game, But after that, The game just seems really dull. Sure, You could look for some glitches after getting all of the items, sidequests, and leveling up all they way, But that's pretty much it. But that's only if you like glitches. Myself personally, I like glitches. But I've met a lot of people who say that it ruins the experience.... Try to max out on money, Beans, And everything else under the golden sun, But that's it. 5/10.

Difficulty:10. I had a harsh time with this game in MANY places such as the desert, Hoohoo mountain, The castle, Basically EVERYWHERE. I still have some trouble with popple in the desert, even though I've had about 4 playthroughs. I never think to get a whole lot of beans from the border jump so i could max out their luck. And i've only beat the final battle about 2 times, So i suppose it doesn't count as 4 playthroughs. I had extreme trouble with this game Every. Single. Time. I played it. I'm not a very good gamer I guess... Always think games are incredibly hard. 10/10.

Overall:7.9. This game has a good flow of difficulty, Graphics and story, But they should really cut it down on the beans. I still don't understand why it's beans they used for the game.

I liked this game, But it could have been better.

Mario and Luigi: A Superstar Review   cooldragon1990
Mario and Luigi! These are a very special series of Mario RPGs that simply put are my favorites. My friend back when this game came out for the first time decided it would be a great idea to give me this game for my birthday. He had it too and this is one of the very few times in my life where I would compete with someone on playing a game. We compared progress, enemies strategies, and borderline played this game together. I fell in love with this game and later the series. But I will always hold a special place in my heart for this game. Everything about this game rocks. The controls, the graphics, the story, and especially the humor. This game has a lot of slapstick humor (mostly on Luigi's side, but Mario has it occasionally)
This game is quite possibly my favorite GBA game in the Mario series. I was never good at the platformers so I never really considered them Mario games even though obviously they are the pinnacle of Mario. I was much more at home with the RPG Mario's rather than the standard Mario gameplay. Everything in this game shines. The fact it gave Mario's oft neglected brother Luigi his chance to shine is mostly what makes it flawless. As a hardcore Luigi fan and enthusiast, this game hits all the right buttons for me. This game introduced a whacky, insane, and downright fun villain in Fawful. I don't think there were a lot of villains quite like him.
But I am getting ahead of myself, I am here to review this game, not to fanboy the living daylights out of the game. Or... not, maybe I will do both. When in doubt always do both options!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Graphics: The GBA was known for some games to be very cartoony, and this game is no exception. The worlds are bright, the characters realized in their cartoon glory. This is just a really good game with really good graphics.
Music: The soundtrack is very good. I love the boss theme, standard fight scene, pretty much every tune in this game is great. I love Cackeletta's theme the most and it fits her. The game has a fantastic if an obviously GB one. It hits the right notes and the tunes fit the area.
Addictiveness: This game was my birthday gift from a very dear friend. I played this game so many times I practically mastered most of it. I haven't collected everything or done all you can do, but I know my way around the game. I can quote it at times or anticipate what will happen before it happens. It is very addictive. I played this game a whopping 10 times in my life and most of those were on the actual gameboy ages ago. Three of them were emulations.
Story: The story is fantastic. I would normally give a small summery of the story like I did for every other review I seem to have done... but this game is just too good. It would be a crime. I suggest you play the game yourself and experience the story and humor (there is a ton of humor) for yourself. Don't take the reviews on Vizzed for your enjoyment or opinion. Just make sure you like Mario or Luigi and the RPG concept and you will do just fine.
Depth: The game is quite long. It should take anywhere from 25-30 hours for you to play through and beat this game.It has so much for you to do. The story will hook you in and make sure you forget the length.
Difficulty: The game isn't that difficult. This is arguably the easiest in the series (I played every game in the DS and 3DS line except Paper Jam which I am slowly, so slowly working through) but it has it's moments. This marks one of the few times in RPG history where instead of taking hits, you can actually dodge them. Every attack is able to be dodged or counterattacked if you time it right. This isn't Paper Mario. You can physically dodge them and avoid hits altogether. Each enemy has a tell they do to determine which brother they plan on attacking. Some of the tells are subtle. I myself have familiarity with a good majority of them except the final boss. One move trips me up and it is a pain to dodge (literally. The arm twirl she does always trips me up and I jump when I am not supposed to out of panic)
If you want to break this game and make the last chunk of the game a complete joke, make sure to always pick Power as your level up bonus. While defense is good for if you suck at dodging, if you have a super high Power stat, you will beat the boss long before that becomes an issue. Some Bro Moves (this is the only game with these styled moves. Every other game features a different Item based Bro move) are hard to pull off, but if you have trouble you can set the move to level 1 where it will slow everything down and give button prompts for them. You will do less damage, but it will help you learn. Level 3 just has it normal without slowdown or button prompts. I played this game so much, I accidentally messed up the level 1 button prompts the game defaults too once when I anticipated the move. Only once though) It has it's moments, but really, it's the easiest one in the entire series.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Final Thoughts: With the new Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga game for 3DS in the works (I pre-ordered it and only have to play the waiting game now) I am super fond of this game. From charming graphics, cute characters and slapstick. This is easily the best game in the series. I have my favorites and the writing for these games is great, there is really something special about Superstar Saga that makes returning to it special.
10/10
Great memories, nostalgia, and superior writing and jokes make this the best game in the series. I mean I like the others, don't get me wrong, but this game is very special to me and thus, gets the best game in the series for me!

A fantastic game.   mario4154
My, oh my, oh..MY OH my oh my. Where to start?
This game. THIS. If you have not played it, you cannot be a Nintendo fan.
My, oh my. Oh.
The game its self is incredibly long, but I'll describe it bit by bit.
Graphics: 10
Goodness are the graphics good. For a Game Boy Advance game, I don't think I've seen better graphics.
They're honestly just the best!
Mario and Luigi look amazing in this game and their expressions and animations are the best I've seen from a Mario game yet. Oh my. Yes indeed. Oh. My.
Sound: 8
The sound effects and how amazingly timed up it is just...mind blowing. However the music is VERY catchy, and really good for the Game Boy Advance.....
There aren't many different tracks. The same music for every battle can eventually be slightly irritating, but understandable. There is only different music for bosses, a mini-boss that you fight from time to time, and the final boss. But, it is easy to deal with, and seeing Mario and Luigi dance to the music during battle, regardless of the danger they are in, is very entertaining. I only wish that there was more music, because of how great it can be.
I feel as if I'm forgetting something..Oh yes, I remember. Oh, my oh my. There, that's better.
Addictiveness: 10
Oh Lord-y loo, is this game addicting. Let me tell you: I played this game a long time ago, had 20 hours of game play into it and it was lost. Do you think I was sad? Oh yes, very. Do you think that I was sad that I had to play through the game again? Oh goodness, no! Playing this game over again was simply amazing. 12 hours straight, I  played this game. I even got further than the other save that I lost. This game is HIGHLY addictive. I would play it forever if I didn't have things that I had to do. It's that good.
Story: 5
No, the story was not that good, but it got better over time. It was actually kind of... Stupid, at first. Yeah, the princess, kidnapped. But it was her voice this time, right? Yeah, that's kind of cool. What? It was stolen by BEANS? Okay, turtle dragon is cool, and frightening, but when you're fighting beans it really just doesn't make you feel like the hero that Mario (and Luigi) should be. The main part of the map is. Bean Bean Castle Town. Mushroom Kingdom, Bean Bean Castle Town...What's next, Sushi City? Oh I didn't just jinx it did I? Oh no. But! I must say, after awhile, it gets to be an average storyline, but sadly, the beginning of the game isn't too exciting, and it will drive many players away. But if you stick around, it will be pretty amazing. They get rid of the whole bean thing and... I don't want to spoil what the main villain does. Honestly, it's just..amazing in the end.
Depth: 8
Man, was this game BIG. The map was HUGE. The game was incredibly long, and I loved it! But, there wasn't much to it other than the intensely long story mode, but it was great. Sure, there's a few bonus games that you can get extra items and what-not by playing, but it's not really something worth doing. And oh, the backtracking, I, HATE, backtracking. It was kind of cool at first, but after so much of it, it's just..... No. But the storyline was pulling me back in. Over and over. Again, I don't want to spoil what made me go "No way, awesome." But overall, there is tons to do. OH! And don't forget the bonus "Mario Bros." mini-game!
Difficulty: 6
Fun game, very easy to get a hang of at first, but...over time, it gets harder. But no! Not because of the enemies, not because of the levels, but the controls. Controlling both Bros. Can be REALLY fun. But when they learn new "moves" and "powers", eventually you just lose track and say "what?"
The enemies are easy to learn, just fight them once and learn their attacks and you got it the rest of the time. BOSSES is what's going to throw you off.
It isn't as difficult once you've gotten the hang of it, but again, it WILL get worse over time.
Overall: 10
A near perfect game.--Well, a pretty much perfect--A perfect game. I would recommend this to tons of people. If you have read this review and still have not started playing it, GO PLAY IT. If you've already played it and are now reading this review, GO PLAY IT SOME MORE!
Thanks for reading.

Can the bros. survive in RPG land?   DoubleD1997
Mario and Luigi superstar Saga is a rpg that is turned based and requires great timing and skill. After mario rpg legend of the seven star you must think this should be a decent game well it is here is my review.
Alright the story goes like this its a peaceful day in the mushroom kingdom when two people from the beanbean kingdom come to take a visit to Princess Peach. they come in peace but then they reveal who they really are. This is when the two antagonists Cackletta and Fawful are introduced they steal Princess Peaches voice and give her this explosion language which means whenever she talks bombs come falling and they explode. After Mario and Luigi arrive and see what has happened to her they set off to an adventure to Beanbean Kingdom to save Princess Peach's voice from Cackletta and Fawful.
Graphics
The Graphics are pretty good for a gameboy advance game Mario and Luigi look pretty detailed as well as the enemies the atmosphere of the game is also well detailed.

 Sound
Guys its a Mario Bros. game since when has the music ever let us down. The music is more than amazing they always want you to whistle to it or hum the music. they have a wide variety of music like whenever you go to a new area there is a different song which is great because it keeps the game original.
Addictivness
The game is fun because it provides comedy, fun gameplay, and structure. Nintendo really did a good job on the battle games. The battles always keep you focused and work on your timing and quickness. The puzzle solving and other mini games are also fun to play like the game provides a mario bros game where you keep fighting enemies until you die.
Story
The story is a little different you aren't saving Peach from Bowser you are saving her voice from a new antagonist named Cackletta Although the story does change but I won't give away any spoilers play the game to find out yourself. But yeah the story is well put out it gives a little drama every once in a while which is actually very rare coming from a Mario game. The story is also funny because Luigi is always getting himself into trouble which is actually funny.
Depth
The game offers a nice wide range story you are free to travel wherever you want in the land but there will probably be an objective in a certain location but you still have the free will to go where you desire. Even if you get bored from the game you can't still play the Mario bros. game where you fight waves of bad guys
Overall Mario and Luigi is a good game it does this just shows that Rpgs do work for the Mario Bros.

Review for Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga   dennyjr22
Mario  and  Luigi  Superstar  Saga  was  published  by  the  Nintendo  of  Europe  GmbH,  and  developed  by  the  AlphaDream  Corporation. The  year  of  it's  release  is  2003.This  game  was  designed  for  one  to  four  players  to  play.                                                                      Graphics:  10-  The  graphics  of  Mario  and  Luigi  Superstar  Saga  are  truly  one  of  the  best  color graphic  Mario  games  I  have  ever  seen. The  colors  are  beautiful  and  vibrant,  and  at  some  points  can  look  dark  and  omnious. That  is  what  makes  the  graphics  so  realistic,  and  unique.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Sound:  9-  The  music  is  nice  and  soothing  in  this  game. It  also  changes  soundtrack  for  different  areas.I  gave  the  the  music a  nine  out  of  ten  rating  because  of  the  music  being  so  relaxing  and  soothing.                                                                                                                            Addictiveness:  8-  This  is  a  game  that  is  a  game  that  I  would  play  again. It  does  not  exactly  have  certain  worlds,  but  has  a  lot  of  cool  and  exciting  enemies  to  face. In  a  battle,  you  can  perform  the  following  things,                                                                                                   Solo  attack-  This  is  where  Mario  or  Luigi  depending  on  whose  turn  it  is  attacks  by  them self.                                                                              Bros  attack-  This  attack  requires  both  Mario  and  Luigi. If  Mario  or  Luigi  are  dead,  you  cannot  perform  this  attack. You  have  to  have  both  of  them  alive  at   the  time  that  you  want  to  commence  the  Bros  attack.                                                                                                                     Items-  Here  you  can  choose  what  item  you  want  to  use  from  the  items  you  have  collected.                                                                                    Run-  You  can  run  from  a  battle,  but  be  aware  enemies  can  still  attack  you  while  you  are  running. This  is  the  only  way  to  escape  a  fight.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Story:  8-  The  story  is  that  Cackatella  has  stolen  Princess  Peach's  voice,  and  replaced  it  with  a  explosive  vocabulary.Bowser  wanted  to  kidnap  her,  but  said  he  couldn't  because  peach's  explosive  voice  would  destroy  his  castle. So  Mario,  Luigi,  and  Bowser  team  up  to  stop  Fawful  and  Cackatella's  evil  plans,  and  bring  Princess  Peach's  original  voice  back. The  story  is  very  good,  but  not  very  long.Well,  at  least  they  keep  it  short  and  sweet.                                                                                                                                                          Depth:  10-  This  game  has  a  whole  lot  of  things  to  offer. It  has  all  sorts  of  battles  to  where  you  can  use  special  items  and  attacks  to  win  the  battle.Plus,  if  you  win  a  battle,  you  get  coins  and  experience  points  too. This  game  also  has  some  very  neat  areas  you  can  go  to,  and  you  can  get  special  items  along  the  way  that  you  can  use  in  battles. There  are  also  fighting  techniques  you  can  use  in  battle  as  well  too.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Difficulty:  5-  Mario  and  Luigi  Superstar  Saga  has  some  parts  that  are  easy,  and  some  parts  that  are  hard  to  master. That  is  why  I  rated  difficulty  a  five  out  of  ten.Parts  that  are  easy  are,  the  part  where  you  go  to  Bowser's  Koopa  Battle  Cruiser,  and  the  part  where  you  have  to  the  border  jump  is  sort  of  easy  too. One  part  that  is  hard  is  when  you  have  to defeat  the  Tolstar. The  Tolstar  can  be  tough  to  beat,  I  had  to  use  the  Mushroom  from  the  "Items"  section. What  the  mushroom  does  is  increase  your  health  so  you  do  not  die. A grand beginning to the spin-off series   AuroVee
Mario and Luigi. These two famous plumbers from the Mushroom Kingdom finally made their RPG debut as a duo - especially Luigi, who first appears as a playable character in this game - in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, otherwise known as simply Mario and Luigi RPG in Japan. It takes mechanics made in Super Mario RPG, and refined them into a smooth RPG experience set in a new locale known as the Beanbean kingdom. And it is one of the greatest RPGs you could find on a GBA.
Graphics:
The graphics of Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga - which I'll shorten to just Superstar Saga for now - are crisp, vibrant and amazing. And the animations of all the characters, including Mario and Luigi themselves, are flawless. That even includes the hidden Easter Egg where poor Luigi get abused by Mario in the crotch in order to get more money, which never fails to not put a smile on my face.
Music:
The music for Superstar Saga is a bit catchy. From the main overworked theme of the Beanbean Outskirts, to the basic battle music, from People's theme to the themes which play during the final boss, each song fits the tone of the area which they take place in.
Addictiveness and Depth:
As Superstar Saga is an RPG, it normally is something which once you've completed, you want to leave. But there are many things which you can do, from getting all of the coffee blends and therefore all the E. Gadd accessories, to playing the guessing games of the Thwomps, to finding the ten Beanstones, as just a few of the optional side activities you can do in the game. Plus, because you can manually dodge in this game and avoid attacks completely, that offers a whole set of possibilities for self-set challenges, including not healing at all during the final boss fight - which means taking them on with only 1HP.
Story/Synopsis:
For once, it's not Bowser kidnapping Peach like he normally does - instead, the plot kicks off with the main antagonists of the game, Cackletta and her loyal minion, Fawful, stealing the voice of Princess Peach and leaving an... Explosive vocabulary in its place. This leads to Bowser joining up with Mario, at least for the time being, to rescue her voice. Luigi intended to stay behind, but his status as a bit of a butt monkey shows up very early on, as Bowser assumed that he wants to join his baddies, when in fact all he wanted to do is send Mario off - leading to where Luigi tries to sneak away only to be caught by Bowser's new ship.
As the plot progresses, things happen which seems to hinder the brother's progress. First, Fawful shows up and wrecks Bowser's new airship, causing the duo to land in Stardust Fields (on the Mushroom Kingdom side of the boarder) and for Bowser to end up stuck in a cannon which Tolstar tries to use to his advantage. The latter is beaten, and Bowser is fired off to who knows where. Then, Mario and Luigi were almost accused for the disappearance of the Prince of Beanbean Kingdom, Prince Peasley - but after some shenanigans including Fawful stopping them from heading towards Beanbean Castle and a climb up Hoohoo Mountain, they save the Prince from his curse, leading to them getting hammers.
The plot progresses as Mario and Luigi are tricked into doing plumbing in order for Cackletta to get the Beanstar from the security system, but despite delays trying to save Queen Bean, including an encounter with the thief Popple, and his new sidekick, Rookie - who looks a lot like Bowser - the duo makes it to Woohoo University just as Cackletta tried to use Peach's voice to wake up the Beanstar.
This, however, doesn't work, because Prince Peasley had foreseen the start of the game, and the Peach which had her voice stolen was actually Birdo, not Peach.
Cackletta is then defeated by the brothers, but Fawful recovers her essence before the Prince knocks him out of the building. And then after another fight with Popple and Rookie, things happen leading to the Beanstar splitting into four, and Bowser regaining his memories.
After learning the third technique which both brothers can use in Oho Oasis, the brothers finally meet Peasley again, who informs them that Peach is going to arrive soon. So they clear the runway, so that the Road Express land, and...
Peach comes out without her voice stolen, as Peasley explains that there was a switch. Afterwards, the duo along with Peach went to Little Fungitown, where events happen which leads to Luigi getting scared, and thus needing to be hypnotized in order to become brave enough to get the cure. He returns... Only for Peach to have been kidnapped by Bowser. But this isn't Bowser, but Bowletta, as Fawful has implanted her soul into Bowser's body - and she makes a deal: recover the whole Beanstar, and she'll exchange them for Peach.
So the brothers collect them, before trying to fool Bowletta with a fake Beanstar in Joke's End - which doesn't work, but Luigi was able to fool them into thinking he was the 'Real' Princess Peach. When this is found out, Bowletta uses an airborne version of Bowser's Castle to attack Beanbean Castle Town, leading to the brothers having to go into there and stop Bowletta once and for all.
The overall plot is solid, and makes a nice change from the usual pace of Bowser kidnapping Peach. I could talk all day about the plot, but this is a review, not a plot synopsis, so I better get on with it.
Final Verdict:
Mario and Luigi, Superstar Saga is a great introduction to the Mario and Luigi franchise, which has never gone wrong since it started off with this game. Once you get the timing for dodging down, the game becomes a lot more easier, but while still posing a good challenge. The only thing which makes it lose points is that the Koopalings suddenly appear as mini bosses in Bowser's Castle, with almost no warning. But still, a solid 9.9/10 for Superstar Saga

A great RPG! Just as good as the Paper mario titles....   RedHotToddy
Back in 1996, Nintendo released Mario's first ever RPG game, Titled Super Mario RPG, Then in 2001 Nintendo released once again ANOTHER Mario RPG, This one was called Paper Mario, It was quite possibly one of the best RPGs I have played in a while! Then in 2003, we got a Mario RPG for Game boy advance, This is Mario and Luigi superstar saga for The Game boy advance, will this RPG please me? Or will it give me a sour reaction? Let's find out....
Story-9/10
The game begins with these dude and his assistant arriving at mushroom kingdom to bring a special surprise from the queen bean to Princess toadstool, But do not be fooled! This is a big act of deceit! These two people are actually 2 evil villains named Cackeletta and fawful! Fawful uses some sort of device to suck up a smoke life substance, which engulf Peach's voice. The two run off with her voice. Meanwhile back at Mario's pad, Luigi is sorting out clothes when toad walks by asking Where our hero is. Luigi cannot do anything about it. Toad easedrops on Mario singing in the shower,  Toad once agains tells him about the princess and what is happening to her, So they get dressed and run to the castle, they battle bowser,  Mario gets ready to leave the koopa boat when Luigi says his final Bye, Bowser feels sad for Luigi, so he lets him tag along with them. And so the quest begins....
Gameplay-8/10
Mario and Luigi super star saga is your typical RPG, you take control of 2 or more characters, you walk around a big field do side quests and every once in a while, ingage in battle with a certain amount of enemies, That's RPG for you. Except the battle system in this game is WAY more complex then your average RPG, the first thing you should notice is that in battles, you can actually dodge your certain opponent's attack! I actually like this feature! It makes the game feel way more different then other RPGS at the time. Like all other RPGs also, the game lets you level up as you defeat enemies and make more progress. You can upgrade stats such as health, defense, speed, etc.  I like how the battle system and level up system works in this game! Also in battles, when jumping on enemies, pressing the A button when jumping on the opponent to do extra damage!
Graphics-9/10
I say, props to Nintendo for finally making brand new sprites exclusively for this game! I think the graphics, worlds, and locales you'll be exploring and seeing are VERY VERY colorful, bright and bursting with atmposhere. Man Nintendo! You guys just never fail to impress me here! The HUD in each battle is self explanatory also, You have Mario and Luigi's stats, The action commands, And your Opponent current stats.
Sound-8/10
Ah the soundtrack, My favorite part of the game, All the music is pretty catchy and upbeat. Nintendo never fails on making a good soundtrack for good games! As for the sound effects, they are pretty good too, Except for one thing, they can get repetitive a little, and I say a LITTLE. But other then that, It's still pretty awesome for a Game boy advance game...
Addictiveness-8/10
This game is very fun to play through multiple times, I mean my favorite part of the game is leveling up your two heroes, I think I once even got 70 HP for both Mario and Luigi! The battles are even better! Even though they take quite alot of time to get used to, Mostly dodging your opponent's attacks.
Depth-9/10
This game is VERY VERY long, There are alot of things to do and collect, Making the game feel really big and bursting with depth, The game is over 8 worlds long, So it will proabally take you 7 hours to complete, granting you get as much things as you can.
Difficulty-8/10
Oh the difficulty, this is in my opinion, one of this game's HIGHEST points, It is mostly the boss battles that can really get the best of me! The boss battles can drag on to over 7 minutes at least! That's quite long, espicaly Cackeletta's soul, That was a nightmare....I seriously do not want to do that again....
Overall-8.7/10
In general, BUY this game, It is one of the greatest RPGs you can get on the market for your GBA today! I gave this game an 8.7 simply because how fun it is and how much it offers. So buy this game now!

overall fantastic   rain1
Overall 10/10
ok, so personally, I find this game to be one of my all time favorites.  for a Mario series game, I have always loved the aspect of a full fledged RPG with the aspects that this game contains compared to a typical side-scrolling adventure through various levels and worlds. I feel that this allows the limitations of only completing the levels to disappear, and rather allow the players to freely enjoy the entire world that this game has within. This game always seemed to make me want to play more and more whenever I played it, and a personal favorite of mine is the use of some comedy throughout the story, which keeps players entertained.
Graphics 10/10
this game has graphics similar to some other game boy advance games, but I feel that the aspect of not being limited to either side-scrolling or four direction movement allows the somewhat 3d graphic to really show what they're made of and allow players to truly experience what this game was designed to do.
Sound 10/10
I think that most of us can agree that the sound in this game is AMAZING. Sometimes as I played, I would find myself humming or singing to the rhythms and beats of the various songs that would play throughout the game (a personal favorite being the boss battle theme; a-ma-zing). The use of multiple sound effects throughout the storyline, rather than just a few during certain parts, is also something that I feel players may enjoy. And a new aspect in the Mario series is hearing Mario and Luigi talk in Italian throughout parts of the game, and making other noises such as being scared, angry, or surprised.  though I never understood what they were saying, I felt that it made them seem like more of a character than they had been in the past games, and really "brought life" to them as well.
Addictiveness 7/10
I love the storyline, and I feel that it can be played as many times as a player wants (with me being about 30 so far). Players can traverse the game and level up like normal, but they can focus on a different stat to increase each time they play the game in order to make the game more interesting and  challenging as well.  though this can be done various times, and the game can be somewhat different each time, the storyline never really changes each time through. Is it re-playable? Obviously yes, of course. But can it be played through each time with new challenges and a completely different experience? Sadly, that would be a no.
Story 10/10
the storyline of this game is one of the greatest that I have ever played through.  its long, difficult (at some points), challenging, exiting, humorous at times, and it may even touch your emotions depending on how connected you are to it during your play through.  this game makes Mario and Luigi appear to be more of a true character with true roles in the storyline, rather than simply a character that goes across a side scrolling world just to reach a flag or castle.  the aspect of a Mario game was truly expanded to a whole new level when this game was released, and I feel that whether or not this game is enjoyable for you, the storyline alone may keep you hooked long enough to continue playing.
Depth 10/10
due to not being like the other Mario games in the past, I think that the new bean bean kingdom allows players to truly experience what it is like to travel the kingdom like Mario actually does in his past games.  the large world that this game offers players is large enough for players to constantly explore and discover new things such as beans, hidden blocks, or even that super secret item they're been looking for.  this game is large in depth, and simply, I think that it's a perfect game in this aspect hands down.
Difficulty 5/10
Personally, this game is not very difficult once you have the hang of it. You begin to memorize how the enemies attack you and where things are after some time, so eventually this game becomes fairly easy.  however, the game as a whole is very large and difficult at most points.  if you didn't level up enough, or didn't train your stats the right way, you may find yourself struggling at some points throughout the game.  the difficulty of this game actually varies depending on how good the player is at adapting to the game as a whole.
(P.S.  I would just like to add that the ability to play the original super Mario arcade game really adds to the game.  once you've beaten superstar saga, you can always play the arcade game option and continue to try to increase your high score).

mario and luigi superstar saga review   austipokedude
There are tons of great games for the gameboy advance but the question is which one is he best?Well you come to the right review if you asked yourself that question before.Mario and luigi superstar saga is the first game in the mario and luigi series. What I find amazing is its a rpg.I know there was a rpg mario game before but this is the first mario rpg that has mario and luigi at the same time in this great game. But enough trivia lets get started.
Graphics:The graphics are great the sprites are not messy but the sprites are neat. But the first thing that stands out is the environment.Places such as yoohoo mountain and beanbean castle are actually pretty neat.So the graphics deserve a ten.
Sound:I loved how the music made me feel relaxed at times. But at other times the music made me feel revengeful. The music adapts to the situation you are in and the environment throughout the game.So the sound deserves a ten as well.
Addictiveness:I was pushing forward this game so fast because of how fun and addicting it is.The thought of revenge is mostly the reason but without that thought it wouldn't be as fun as it is.I'm sure when you play this game you think of revenge as well especially what happened to you since you arrived at bean bean kingdom.
story:Well heres the story. One day the bean bean ambassador comes to mushroom kingdom to give peach a gift from bean queen but it turns out to be a surprise attack from the awful Cackletta and her assistant fawful.Fawful uses his headgear to steal princess peach's voice and both Cackletta and Fawful escape to beanbean kingdom.Meanwhile mario and luigi are doing there usual activities until a toad comes to their house to deliver a message he tells mario about it and both mario and luigi depart to mushroom kingdom. That is the story so far notice how organized and exciting it sounds and thats only the beginning.
depth:There are many objectives in the game first you must visit beanbean castle then you must collect all the pieces of the bean star and of course many obstacles await to make the game more challenging.
difficulty:There are several bosses in the game that are fun and challenging but the final boss in the game is the reason it deserves a seven you pretty much start the final boss at a health of one which is just plain cheap in my opinion so I hope you brought a couple of mushrooms with you.
despite being a difficulty game the game has great soound and graphics and is very fun. This is a must have if you own a gameboy advance. This has been another review and I must end this by saying its a must have.

this game is perfect   mario iz great
Okay.I played this Mario and Luigi superstar saga and it was fantastic for me . This is the first game I've ever played on my game boy advance . As I was saying the game had suppresingly amazing humor . I laughed so hard when Luigi was hiding in peach's dress . And  the final boss bowletta was very hard . --SPOILER-- He just killed us and swallow Mario and Luigi which puts them in his belly . Mario and Luigi woke up and find out that they been eaten by bowletta . When they looked up there was cackletta's soul . And it was the final boss . Of course when we got blown we got damaged which lets us fight with only 1 hp . However I beat the game and I was like woohoo . So I think this game is the best game on the game boy advance for sure . You should play it

An interesting Mario RPG.   rb1295
Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga, a unique and interesting game to play. Overall, this game is rather fun to play, with many different aspects that can help people enjoy the story more.
Overall, I found the graphics to be pretty good. Throughout the game the different animations, and graphics help draw the player into the game, this allows them to enjoy the game all the more. With some of the graphics being similar to other games of the Mario series, The fan of the series can enjoy the game more, and not have it feel like its an entirely new game in general. While at the same time introducing some new graphics that every player can enjoy.
A large variety of differing sound is used to help someone who has never played the game before to enjoy it. At the same, these sound are fitting to what's happening at the time you hear them. These sound effects allow those who have played it before to enjoy them as well. The different types background music helps the player get a feel for what the area they are in might be like, as well as allows them to get into the game more.
While playing this game, it is easy to get addicted to it. After playing for awhile, the combination of the graphics, story and the sounds, help bring out just how addicting this game truly is. With the game being so addicting, it becomes easier for people to enjoy the game.
A unique and original story, this is one of the biggest factors to the overall enjoyment and addictiveness of this game. By allowing the players to enjoy a unique story, they get pulled into the game, making them want to know what's going to come next. With the story not being too complicated, the overall feel of the game gets better, and more enjoyable.
Throughout the game, there are a few things that a player can do, that aren't part of the story. While the story is interesting, there are also a few things that players can do that aren't part of the story that let them enjoy a more casual and relaxed game. By adding such a variety of different things to do, the player doesn't always have to just go along with the story, but they also get the chance to do other things that can entertain them.
Overall, the initial controls aren't very hard to learn, but as you progress, some of the new controls might be hard to remember at first. After using the new commands for a while, it becomes easier for the player to control what they are doing in the game, and the controls no longer seem to be as difficult.
Overall,
Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga is a unique and fun addition to the Mario series. Being one of the series rpgs, like many of the other, it is well constructed in a manner that helps the player enjoy the game, and not feel overloaded by the story. As strange as this game might seem at first glance, it doesn't take long for players to enjoy it to its fullest.

Mario and Luigi SuperStar Saga   Mobouis1
Mario and Luigi SuperStar Saga is one of my favorite Mario game on the Game Boy Advance. The game is game play is a bit different from other past Mario games. The game play is just like Super Mario RPG- Legend of the Seven Star. You need to time your attack at the right time to do more damage. The game also add a bit of comedy in the game which make it more funner to play, and you might see some characters from Luigi's Mansion. Also the game let you be as Luigi and Mario at the same time including in battle.
The graphics of the game is amazing for the Game Boy Advance. The graphics is really smooth, and the background look amazing. The attacks look very well. So if you play this game you might be amaze by the graphic of the game. So I will give the graphics a 10
The sound effects are amazing in this game. The jump sound sound the same though. Most of the music in the game is very catchy, and I think you might sing along with the music at some point. The battle music is the same, until you battle a boss. So I giving the sound of the game a 10.
The game is very addicting to play, because of the story, and the game play. You will probably found yourself playing this game for days, unless you don't like the game play of the game. This section shall get a 9.
The story of the game is different from the most typical Mario game. In this game they introduce a new enemy. This is how the story start. Toad come to Mario house to tell him that something happen to princess Peach. Mario drag Luigi along the way, and when they got there Bowser was there. Mario defeat bowser, and found out it wasn't bowser. They found out the bean queen took her voice to activate a star. The queen did activate the star, but it broke into pieces. Also Mario and Luigi was in the kingdom of the bean queen. They destroy her or nearly destroy her. If you want to know the whole story, then why don't you play the game yourself. I give the story a 9 for the new idea.

The game offer a lot in this game. They offer a lot of items that you can carry with limit inventory space. The game have some items from the past, like the hammers, and they can be upgraded as you continue the story. The game also have badges and clothes or armor that help raise your stats. They will be a lot of help throughout your journey in the Kingdom of the Beans. The game also offer something that is call bros. moves. It cost bros. point, but it is worth it, because it is powerful. They have different type of moves so you need to travel around to learn them all. The game will take you couple days to beat it unless you are really good at this game. I give this section a 9.
The game is not that hard if you know how to time your attack. If you don't the game is going to give you a hard time. There are some bosses that going to give you a hard time like the final boss. Took me two days to beat her. The game is easier once you collect good badges, clothes, and at a high level. So I give this section a 7.
Overall I give this game a 9.4. The game is very fun to play all the time. I like that they come with a new story for a Mario game like this. IF you like RPG games and Mario game, then this game should definitely be for you.

Mario and Luigi: SuperStar Saga- One of the greatest RPGs   ChubbaAustin
Oh man, where do I begin with this one? I fell in love with the Mario & Luigi RPG games since I got my hands on Bower's Inside Story. I also have Dream Team, which is down-right amazing. But what are we here for today? My review on where it all started, Superstar Saga. First off, the graphics. For the game boy advance, Mario and Luigi look pretty stylish. Their animations are also pretty good. Graphics gets a 9. Next, we have sound. Sound actually gets pretty boring. The tunes are pretty basic, even for GBA. The battle theme, while good for a while, REALLY starts to get old. Sound gets a 5, cause I'm feeling generous. Addictiveness, however, has always been a high point for the plumber's RPG outings. Trust me, for every single game in the series, I could play them over and over and never get tired of them. You could start over and raise Mario and Luigi to be speedsters or lucky hitters, use different gear, and fight more battles to get to the highest level. For story, it's a step up from other Mario games. For starters, Bowser is not the main bad guy, much like Super Mario RPG: The Seven Stars, but that review is for another day. One day, somebody from the Bean Bean Kingdom tries to extend the relationships between the Mushroom and Bean Bean Kingdoms. Turns out, that somebody was actually Cackletta, whom then stole Peach's voice, replacing it with some rather "explosive" vocabulary. Story gets a 8. And next, we have depth. Boy, is this game big. It takes a while to beat, and it has a lot of side-quests, like any good RPG. Depth gets a 9. Difficulty, however, isn't THAT high. Sure, some bosses and enemys are tough, but when you think about it, it's not that hard. Difficulty gets a 6. Overall, I think this is one of the finest RPGs out there. Good ol' Vizzed. If Vizzed didn't exist, I wouldn't be able to play this game. This game is very fun, and the text is witty at times too. Overall, this game gets.... a 9.8.

Review: Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga   MisakiMei
And again, we will talk about the famous plumber that everyone of us knows and loves, who's name is Mario. This game is called "Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga", and like the title already says, Mario doesn't have to do this journey on his own. No. Mario's younger twin brother, Luigi (also mistakenly known as the "green Mario" ) is accompanying him and is also one of the main characters in the story of this game. But what is this game about? Is this game like the other Mario games which we know and love? Do you also have to jump on Koopas and save the princess? These questions will be answered during this review.
Let us take a look at the graphics first, as always. If you compare the graphics of this game to different Mario games, you will notice that the graphics here are as magnificent as the graphics of other Mario games. A lot of details, a lovely design, a lot of variations between the characters, areas, enemies etc., so I will give 10 points out of 10 for the graphics, because Mario games are known for it's great graphics and designs.
Now we will talk about the sound. Also the sound is magnificent. The sound effects for every action fits well, there are a lot of tracks for a lot of areas and battles, everything sounds pleasant to your ears. And like the other Mario games (especially the newer ones), we have some great voice acting, especially by Charles Martinet, known as being the voice of Mario and Luigi. His Italian gibberish really makes Mario and Luigi sound like they really speak Italian, so it lighten ups the situation and makes it more enjoyable to play, therefore I will also give 10 points of 10, great job.
And how addictive is this game? Well you can already imagine what I am going to say, if you read my review for the game "Mario Vs. Donkey Kong": it's super addictive. Mario will always be the king of addictiveness. You just can't get enough of the pleasant atmosphere while playing this game. I also will give 10 points out of 10 for the addictiveness.
But what about the story? Is it the same compared to the other Mario games? No! The story is quiet different this time. The plot of this game is that one day, the mushroom kingdom is awaiting some visitors. During the audience, these visitors turn out to be some evil people called Cackletta and Fawful who are stealing the voice of Princess Peach. The mushroom kingdom orders Mario to find Cackletta and her evil minion Fawful and get the voice of his beloved princess back. Mario's brother, Luigi, is also forced to do so, although he wants to stay at home and do less dangerous things. The story will also contain some amusing plot twists. The only thing that I miss is that there isn't a real message... but still, the story can amuse somebody, so therefore, I will give 7 points out of 10.
What does this game offer to the player? Well... this game isn't the usual Jump 'n Run game that we know. This game is combining the Jump 'n Run elements of the Mario games we know with RPG elements, like the round based battle system, equipment, items etc. The round based battle system is pretty interesting in this game, there are different ways how to attack your enemy, and if you press any button at the right time, then you make some extra damage for example. Besides that, you need for every enemy a different strategy to defeat them. And also this game contains a lot of mini games, so I will give 9 points out of 10, therefore that it offers more than one could expect.
The difficulty of the game lies mostly within the battle system. If someone is good at timing, then he/she will have no problems while dodging attacks of the enemies or hurting them. If not... good luck, you will need it.
The scores:
Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 10/10
Addictiveness: 10/10
Story: 7/10
Depth: 9/10
Overall: 46/50
9,2/10
This game is no exception for the fact that Mario games will always belong to the most addictive games in the history of games. "Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga" unites Mario addicts and RPG fanatics because of the combination of the RPG elements along with the Mario trademarks. I recommend you to try out this game if you love Mario or RPGs, it's worth it and you can also experience some new things then. Another success made by Nintendo.
So thank you very much for reading my review, I hope you enjoyed reading it and I also hope you will read my upcoming reviews :) If there is anything what I could do better, then please tell me, ok? :D Greetings from Germany,
MisakiMei

#0003 Holy Puzzle it's amazing!   Snodeca
Hello everyone, James is back with another review!
Okay, to really start of, This game here, is a beauty, a master piece, well, not really, a Masterpiece is 10/10 on everything and like 7/10 on Difficulty :P
But hey, I need to get this done...
Let's start this review!
Graphics: 10/10
Yes, The graphics deserves a 10/10. My favorite graphics to me? Definitely goes to Popple, amazing hair, amazing look, amazing thie~ GIVE MY HAMMER BACK! --/
Okay, why are the graphics a 10? Well, in the overworld, theres a lot of details going on, the sprites looks amazing, it's glorious, but that is for GBA Graphics. For 3DS graphics? [s]bleh 2/9744[/s] I would still say 7/10. I'm sure it'll look amazing on the 3DS.
So yeah, on to the next one!
Sounds: 11/10
If I could give this a Glorious 11, I'd do that.
The original jump sounds, perfect, cool sound effects, oh and the music, it is perfect.
I do not know how to describe this, but I'll try my best.
There are Sound Effects from the NES, just a bit different to make it fit for the game, and it fits with the game actually!
But as for the music, yes, that one... All the sound effects fit with the graphics AND music! It has some NES Remixes, well, I could only name one, Super Mario Bros. 1 main theme - In little Fungi Town.
Let me continue.. This is where the ratings gets lower.
Addictiveness: 8/10
As for me, the game isn't that addictive, I can stop playing the game quickly, unlike Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team..
Honestly... I have NO idea why it isn't that addictive to me... So yeah, I can't explain it, but I'll try... i guess
Okay, there are some weird glitches, but I've never come across one. I think it isn't that addictive because the story... Which is why I deducted the rating of the Story by 1..
Moving on,
Story: 9/10
Rewroten the story part
Edit:
Oh, looks like I didn't know the story. Let's... Restart this...
The story is actually amazingly good, you have to retrieve Princess Peach's voice back, and for that, we go to the Beanbean Kingdom. Here, you have to find Cackletta and defeat her, and retrieve Princess Peach's voice back. But, why did Cackletta want Princess Peach's voice? I'll let you find out. PLAY THE GAME!
Depth: 8/10
This game has a tons of minigames, and it has a tons of puzzles, which has made the addictiveness get 1 extra point ending up with 8, A lot of them are hard.
Hint: Geno is in a Mini-Game!
It will take a while to find all the beans and stuff, and yeah, it's a long game.
Difficulty: 7/10
Yeah, it's difficult. Annoying. Oh, and a pretty good difficulty for this game :3 But either way, the game can be a bit difficult in some parts, if you don't stock up, you'll probably die. Well, if you don't fight enough enemies that's the case :P
I think the difficulty suits the gale thiugh.
OVERALL! 9.3/10!
I rate this game 9.3 because it really is a good game, it is fun to play, and is def.... ~~ My parrot just made me half deaf... ~~
And is definitely worth the play, and I think that's it, so yeah, guess I'll see you in my next review! Byee! :)

Superstar Saga for the GBA   luigi25
Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga was released for the Gameboy Advance near the end of 2003. It is a different type of video game from anything I have ever played. It is a role-playing game, otherwise known as an RPG. The only other game that is similar to Superstar Saga that I'm familiar with is the first Zelda game on NES. I enjoy playing that game quite a bit, but it was more of an action/adventure style of game. This one is totally different, but every other part of this game I could rate pretty high. The graphics and storyline for Superstar Saga were very well done. I just could not get past doing some of these "Advance" moves and other things that made the gameplay less enjoyable for me.
Graphics 10/10: Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga looks a lot like a cartoon. Everything is very animated, and it looks great. The graphics of Superstar Saga remind me a lot of Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland. I would have to rate the look of this game the same as I rated that one. Both games have a lot of color to their backgrounds and sprites. This is one game, of several, I've played on the Gameboy Advance that took full advantage of the 32-bit handheld system. Like with Nightmare in Dreamland and Wario Land 4, Superstar Saga is its own game. Most of the other GBA games I've played were just ports.
This one stands out, and I guess that's why it looks as good as it does. Nintendo gave more time and attention into creating a game with a lot of color and detail to it that most of the Mario Advance and Donkey Kong ports didn't have. Long story short, Superstar Saga looks amazing!
Music 10/10: I'd have to rate the music of Superstar Saga about the same. I cannot find one dull track in the whole game. Some people would argue about that and say that they got some of the music from Super Mario 64. I've never played that game, so I wouldn't know. As far as I'm concerned, every song is its own song unlike anything I have ever heard. Cackletta's theme was probably my favorite, but the battle theme is also pretty cool. There was also an island theme that I enjoyed quite a lot too. Nintendo really got creative with the look of sound of this particular GBA game.
Gameplay 5/10: This is where I started to run into a lot of problems with Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga for the GBA. This Nintendo game is unlike anything I am familiar with. I've played this game many times, and the farthest I ever got was this ship with all these drybones on it. It took me hours to get that far. Anyway, you control both Mario and Luigi on this overworld map. Players can either have Mario in the lead or Luigi. The brothers travel along the overworld together and come into contact with enemies along the way which starts a battle.
These battles were pretty fun to start with in the early part of the game. After a while, they got to be more difficult which is about what you would expect. The game would always give you a good stockpile of items that I found myself using a lot of by the time I got to the WooHoo University and probably even before that! Syrup gave Mario and Luigi "Bros. Points" need to do the "Bros. Attacks". These types of attacks were needed to inflict major damage on the harder enemies like the bosses of some of the areas.
Before you got to that, Mario and Luigi would have to get through certain puzzles that could be hard to figure out. Some weren't too terrible, but I always found myself getting stuck on the bridge until I figured out I had to talk to all of the villagers! I can't remember how I figured that out!!! Someone left a thread on here about not being able to beat the "Border Jump"! I know! That part gave me trouble too, but I did finally get through it. Woo Hoo Mountain was hard also with the "Spirit-Catching" part, and why does it take so long to beat some of these bosses?!
Mama Piranha really gives me trouble sometimes if I can even get that far! Last time, I couldn't even beat the Woo Hoo Mountain boss because I ran out of Bros. Points and had to do Solo Attacks! For some reason, the Bros. Attacks weren't doing any damage!! This happens way too much for me. It's like Superstar Saga is fun when you can do damage in these boss fights, but if you can't it's GAME OVER! Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I find myself having to do research on how to play this game! OMG! WHY? IT'S JUST A GAME NOT A BOOK REPORT!!
Mario and Luigi is too time consuming for me, and it is also too confusing to figure out some of the game mechanics. The tutorials are easy, but there aren't enough of them, and some things in the game are too vague for anyone to understand. I could never figure out how to do the Advance Bros. Attacks. I kept failing at that every time!! I did like going to the item shops, upgrading the brother's attacks, finding badges, etc. The levels were pretty unique too with their own themes. Superstar does have quite a lot of variety to the overworlds just like in Super Mario Bros. 3.
The enemies were pretty fun to fight too up to a certain point. Superstar Saga is fun for me to play until I start getting stuck on some of the bosses or puzzles. Then, I would just Rage Quit and Game Over. Unfortunately, that could happen early in the game, and other times it wouldn't. That's when I would enjoy playing for hours and get a lot out of it. I guess Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga is a pretty well designed game to a certain extent. I don't enjoy it as much as the platformer games, but I guess it's more fun than I made out like it was when I started reviewing this game. It's far from perfect!!
Story 10/10: I remember Nintendo put a lot into the plot of Superstar Saga! It was broken up into several different parts and went on for hours and hours. First you get this new villain by the name of Cackletta that is supposed to be female with her assistant Fawful. They steal Princess Peach's voice, but it turns out that it wasn't really Princess Peach. However, she does get kidnapped in this Mario game again, and yes, she is kidnapped by Bow.... well, not really. She is kidnapped by Bowletta!! Cackletta takes over Bowser's body after Mario and Luigi defeat him at the University.
Along the way, Mario and Luigi travel through the Beanbean Kingdom and save Queen Bean who has been turned into a monster by Cackletta. They meet Prince Peasly also and get into all kinds of adventures in this Mario game. Bowser works with the Mario Bros. in the beginning until he is fired from a cannon on Woo Hoo Mountain. Then, he turns back bad with the help of Popple who is a "Shadow Thief". They end up helping Lady Lima, who is Queen Bean's second in command, at the Airport. And, I do think the Koopa kids return in the game as well.
I have never made it to the end of Superstar Saga, but I remember the game's story being long and well thought out. There were all kinds of plot twists and surprises with new characters and a whole new setting! Mario and Luigi are not in the Mushroom Kingdom at all, they are in the Beanbean Kingdom with all new characters, villains, and enemies. I do see some familiar faces, but Nintendo did become more creative with the plot of this game. It really is a game made for the Gameboy Advance in the early 2000s which I never played up until 5 or 10 years ago on Vizzed.
Content 10/10: Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga takes forever to finish! I don't see how anyone could get the time to be able to finish this game!! I spent about 10 hours getting to the Bones Ship, and that was nowhere near the end. I've seen YouTubers play this game for a long amount of time with a playlist of 72 videos!! If you know what you're doing, you're in for a long haul. People who are familiar with Superstar Saga probably enjoy it quite a lot with all of this material. There really are a lot of shops, items, and abilities to get along the way.
I liked how the game was broken up into several different overworlds like: Beanbean Castle Town, Woo Hoo Mountain, Oho Ocean, TeeHee Valley, etc. These worlds had their own theme just like in SMB3. You're not just playing one area the whole time or areas that lacked the variety like the levels in Yoshi's Island. The variety is what made Superstar Saga more of an interesting game to try and play. So did the exploration.
Difficulty 10/10: I have never beaten Mario and Luigi on GBA. I can always count on running into trouble on one of the bosses, running out of items, getting stuck somewhere, etc. I don't know how to do Advance moves. I can't figure out why my Bros. attacks don't do any more damage in the boss fights than what they do. As I've already explained, it is hard to consistently make progress with this game! I guess, I've done better than some players, but I think this is a hard game! It's hard to improve on something you keep getting hung up on.
Overall 9/10: Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga is a pretty decent game overall. It is a different style of game that I am not used to, but it has more good points to it than bad. The variety and exploration are what bring me back to it, but the gameplay is what keeps me from investing as much time in the game as players who grew up with it. I stopped playing video games in 1995, and Superstar Saga came out in 2003 and 2004. For some, this game is nostalgia for them, and I can see why that is. It does have a lot of creativity to it with the: music, look, plot, and uniqueness of the areas. I thought this game was okay, but it did have its issues.

Mario And Luigi Super Star Saga: First Review   mariowin13
This my first review so go easy on me, OK? Lets talk about the Graphics. The graphics in the Gameboy Advance is more better than the portable games like Gameboy and the Gameboy Color. But I can't say that is better then the DS, DSI, or the 3DS. So I'm gonna give it an 8.
OK now for the Sound. The music is great. Like in the BeanBean Castle. Its sound like if you are in a castle. And the normal battle, it sounds like if you are in the a dance battle than a real battle. So I'm gonna rate this a 9.
Now the Addictiveness. The game are easy to level up and you can put increase your stat more at the bonus. So I'm gonna give it a 9.
Now the story. The point of the story is that Cackletta wanted to have her evil wishes granted by the BeanStar. But the BeanStar only listen to the person with the beautiful voice. Since Princess Peach have one of the beautiful voices, Cackletta stole Princess Peach's voice. So Mario and Luigi are sent to stop Cackletta's plan and retrieve Peach's voice. The story is simple but not that long so I'm gonna give it an 8.
Now the Depth. It give you the power to equip clothing and badges that Increase your power and defense and a special power. And it give special ability that require both brothers to do more damage. And puzzle to solve the requires one or two of the brother. And it give coin to buy stuff or to continue. So I'm gonna give it a 9.
Now the Difficulty. This is not a hard game. It easy the control Mario and Luigi. And also to switch ability. So I'm gonna give it a 7.
So my overall rating of this game is 9. This is just my opinion of this game and also it my first review so go easy on me. Thank you.

This game is great for people who like RPGs like Final Fantasy, this is a Mario game that is worth playing. Many puzzles to solve that will make you stay many minutes stuck in the game. Enemies are a bit difficult if you do not have a very high level, so you'll have to fight the enemies for you to get stronger, at least 6 hours to complete the game! You play with Mario and Luigi trying to save the princess (again) but this time you is not going the save to princess, is her voice that was stolen! A game that will never be forgotten by fans of Mario.

Mario and Luigi Super Star Sega Review   speedy gonzalez
mario and luigi superstar sega is a great game which allows you to level up and get greater stats.when you level up you can choose which bonus point you want for your stats. i think it was a awesome idea making a game where you can level up and explore rather than just levels because you can find lots of things without a time limit. the sequal to this game is mario and luigi bowser inside story for DS and it is alike but it has many differences like in the sequal you can be bowser. there are many items in this game that you can use in battle that can help you win and gain exp.
Graphics: the graphics are ok but you can see that they are a bit blury but it is good for a GBA game so i gave it a 7
Sound: the sound is good and there is special boss music so i gave the sound an 8
Addictiveness: this game is very addicting but you can get confuesed on where to go in some places and that make you want to stop playing so i gave this an 8
Story: the story is sort of the sam but it isnt bowser it is some other green alien thing who kidnaps princess peach so i gave this a 7
Depth: this game is long but when you have finished the main story there isnt much more to do so i gave this an 8
Difficulty: if you level up a lot then you should have no trouble completing this game but if you rush it you wont level up enough so i gave this a 7
Overall: overall this game is very good and well thought out so i gave this an 8.7

Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga Cheat Codes

Easy money:

This trick should work after the Chucklehut Brothers teach Mario and Luigi their hammer techniques. Have Luigi use his hammer to shrink Mario. Then, perform their "high jump technique", but have mini Mario jump at Luigi before Luigi can land on Mario. You will gain one coin. Repeat this to get as many coins as desired. Note: This was done after getting to the university section of the game. Also, hitting Luigi for one coin will lower Luigi's HP by one point. He will only "yelp" when his HP reaches 1. However, you can still spend some of the bonus stats that you get at level up on the "Stach" stat (which discounts the items in the shops) and buy mushrooms at the castle town and recycle (i.e. use the "Easy money" trick then buy mushrooms to heal him and gradually generate money).

When you meet Thowomp (giant stone man in Hammer Bros. cave) for the second time, save the game. Play his game and if you do not get any money, turn off the Game Boy Advance and you will start over. Keep doing this until you get 9999 coins.
