Welcome to my review of the game Love Hina Advance. First off, I'd like to mention that this game has been unofficially translated into English. But it is definitely a game I enjoy playing. It is one of the few games that I know of that are based off of an anime and have been translated (although unofficially as I had said). But great job Vizzed!
Genre: Visual Novel / Dating Simulation
Definition: Visual Novels are games where you play through a scene made up of text, and are required to make a decision, for better or worse to get an overall good or bad ending at the end.
Beginning with the Graphics section, it's got some quite decent graphics if I do say so myself, the pictures used are mainly stills from the anime series of the same name. I have yet to complete this game fully, but having seen the anime, I can guess where this ends up.
Sound: Music-wise this is a very good game, it also plays an instrumental version of the anime's opening song "Sakura Saku" (Cherry Blossoms Blooming) at the end of each "episode". Voice-wise, it retains the Japanese vocals from the main characters, which may seem a little weird, but as I had mentioned above, this game was unofficially translated into English.
Addictiveness is where this game (and Visual Novels in general) get good scores, as you can play again and again to try and get the good endings, or if you're one of those people who like seeing people out of luck, they would get the bad endings.
Note: Some Visual Novels have "Neutral" endings, where there is a standard conclusion and no real advancement with the plot. Some others, on the other hand require you to unlock all endings, Good and Bad, to gain access to a Bonus Ending. Not having completed this game yet, I have yet to discover if such Bonus Ending exists.
Story is an interesting thing, as this game is based off of the anime of the same name, but as I had also mentioned earlier, the story can divert depending on the choices you make in the game. The choices you make are linked to a timer, which beeps to let you know how much time you have left, certain scenes have the timer go super quickly, where in others it gives you roughly 10 - 20 seconds to make a decision.
Depth - Depending on your view, this game may have a lot of depth, or none at all, but having seen the anime. I would say that this game has quite a bit of depth especially as it gives each character a back story of some kind.
Difficulty: Not particularly a hard game, the only hard thing I would say about it is that you probably need to know the characters a bit before you play this game, as even if you choose the right option, it may backfire on you later on.
Overall: Not a bad game, I love it personally and wish that others would enjoy it as well.
