Kirby Take 3 (Dreamland 3 review)   tornadocam
Kirby is back once again to save dreamland from the nightmares.
Story: 8
The story is very similar to other Kirby games. It is a peaceful day in Dreamland. Kirby and some of his friends are fishing. Suddenly, the rings around Dreamland shatter. The sky turns dark it appears that Dark matter is back to wreck havoc on Dreamland. Dark Matter starts to posses some of the residents. King Dedede, is one of the first to be possessed along with other residents who are normally friendly. Why has dark matter returned after being defeated several times in the past by Kirby?. Kirby and his friends head out to collect the shattered rings to restore Dreamland, and to liberate the possessed residents. The heroes find it is going to take a lot more to vanish the nightmares this time than it has in the past. Okay, the plot was nicely told and nicely done. However, the thing is this is the same plot used in Kirby games. So, while the plot was good it really did not offer anything new to the series. For those that do not know. The nightmares possessed victims in Kirby's Adventure and Kirby's dreamland 2. I was hoping they would have come up with something different. I wonder if Hal Labs was just trying to get this game on the market and didn't really consider they had used that plot twice? Certain Video games have reoccurring plots. For example, Mega Man games either have Wily or Sigma trying to take over the world. In the Mario games it is Bowser. However, those games the bad guys have new ways of trying to get their goals. In this game Dark Matter is back to possessing people and its the same way he does it in other Kirby games. Thus, since this plot was the same as other games I had a hard time rating it higher. But do not get me wrong it is still a good plot just nothing new.
Graphics: 9
The graphics in this game were pretty good. I really liked the backgrounds in this game. The ice stages really sparkle and are shiny just like a winter level should be. The ocean levels were nicely done the way the trees, flowers, and water moves really shows how great the Super Nintendo really was. However, the only thing is the graphics look like this was an artists theme. Here is what I mean. Some of the levels look like they were colored in as in a coloring book. I do not know if Hal Labs meant for it to look that way or what? Do not get me wrong it looks very nice. I guess I was just expecting really good graphics like Mega Man X games, Mario SNES games and even Donkey Kong. The controls for the most part were very smooth. I really liked how the controls had improved from the Dreamland's Game Boy games. Kirby does not feel sluggish at all. The sprints in this game were also nicely done. The bad guys sprints when they attack are very good even better than the Game Boy ones, which I would expect this being a 16 bit system. Some of the bad guy's sprints even show them making faces when they hit you which is kind of funny. So aside from the coloring book graphics. Kirby's Dreamland 3 really had good graphics.
Sound: 10.
The sound was very good in this game. In fact, it was so much improved from Dreamland 1 and 2. I really liked how this game had a very diverse soundtrack. The music I found to be very relaxing and fitting the world's themes very nicely. The forest, water and ice themes are my favorite. Even the boss battles had a good sound to them. I really like how each animal friend has a different sound depending on the special power the player has. My favorite is the sound that the cat makes when he has Kirby it is priceless. I also like how the special powers sound, it really lets the player know there weapon is going to cause pain to the enemies. Speaking of enemies the enemies really have good sounds some make loud thuds when they are running, and others have special sounds. I also like the sound when Kirby gets hit, it is like he is saying ow. Moreover, it would not be a Kirby game if we did not have the infamous death sound Kirby makes when he loses all of his health bars. I still think that is funny. I compared the sound track to other Kirby games I can only think of two Kirby games that rival this one's sound. The two games that rival Kirby's Dreamland 3's sound are Kirby's Adventure and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Those three games had the best soundtracks of any Kirby game. I will o on to say they should be how Kirby games are supposed to sound. Thus I give Dreamland 3's sound a perfect 10.
Addictiveness: 9
Kirby's Dreamland 3 has a high replay value. I rank this up there with two other Kirby games in their replay value. I think this game is up there with Kirby's Adventure and The Amazing Mirror when it comes to replay value. I often find myself playing this one a lot. The only thing that keeps this one from getting a perfect rating is the plot. Sometimes it just feels like the same old thing when playing Kirby games especially when nothing has really changed in how the evil force is trying to take over Dreamland. But, that is very minor and like I said I enjoy playing this game. I have played it several times since I first got it.
Depth: 10
The game really shines on depth there is a lot going on in this game. First of all, every stage has a mini quest the player needs to complete to get a shattered ring. If the player does not complete the quests in each stage the player can still go to the next world. Not completing the quests means you will not get the shattered ring that is needed to get the correct ending of this game. In addition, a lot of the quests will require searching every area of a stage or solving puzzles. Players may need to revisit stages to complete the quests. As with most Kirby games there are lot of items to collect. Dreamland 3 also has a lot of special powers in it. Most of the same powers that were in Kirby's Adventure can also be acquired here (Note a few special powers in Kirby's Adventure are not in this game, but the main ones are). Moreover, the levels in this game are really long each world has 5-7 stages in it. The game is going to take a while to beat to get 100%. Thankfully, Hal Labs keeps track of your progress so you do not have to start over. To sum it up Dreamland 3 had a lot going on it. I really like and I am used to games that have a lot of depth. I was glad to see Dreamland 3 have Depth. Some of the great Kirby games shine on their depth. Thus, I give the depth rating a perfect score.
Difficulty: 6
If Dreamland 3 suffers in anyway it is its difficulty. This game does have some tricky spots in it. For example, the enemy placement in this game can be a problem. Enemies can hit you from behind, gang up on you or even corner you. Also some enemies do drop out of the sky so it is easy to get knocked into a pit. The enemy placement did cause me to lose a few lives in this game a few times. Another thing that adds to the difficulty is certain animal allies can only be used to get the special items. Some levels will require you to bring a certain animal friend to complete the quests. Then there are puzzles to solve some of them can be tricky to solve to get the special items. However, this game was really not that bad. The bosses in this game are pretty easy. I think I only died a few times facing the final boss. I was kind of expecting more while fighting the bosses. I did mention that enemy placement got me and will probably get the players a few times. But they do give you special powers to get yourself out of a jam. Even if you do find yourself cornered by enemies, there is a good chance one of the enemies can give you a special power. Also the game is very good on giving you a chance of extra lives so even if you do die, you can usually get the lost life back. The difficulty in this game is better than the other dreamland games, but it is not like Kirby's Adventure or even the Amazing Mirror. I was really hoping this game would be more of a challenge. If you have read my other reviews, you know that I like a game that challenges you. Yes, this game does test your skills and creativity at solving the puzzles. But when it comes to boss fights not so much. Thus, I give Dreamland 3 a decent middle of the road rating of 6 out of 10.
Overall: 9.2
I really liked this game. I got this game at a game store that was wanting to get rid of their Super Nintendo games. I saw this one and I thought this looks like a fun game to play. I had played over Kirby games and I do like to play Kirby games. I was glad I picked up this game I really enjoyed it. The game has good graphics, good sound and huge depth. I later learned that this game I think was released in 1997 or 1998. I made reference to I wonder if the game might have been rushed out. Here is why, when this game came out the Super Nintendo was being replaced by the new Nintendo 64. The Super Nintendo was also competing with the Sony Play Station. The Super Nintendo was at the end of its amazing run. In fact, Dreamland 3 was one of the last major hits on that system the other games that were major hits, when the SNES was past its peak, were Mega Man X3 and Donkey Kong 3. I can also make a good argument that if anybody out there owns the game it should be a collector's item, since it was one of the last hits on the SNES. So Hal had good reasons to hurry up with this game to get it out. Still, despite the coloring book graphics at times. This game had very high quality. I really like to play this game. Even today I still play this game. It is in my top 3 of favorite Kirby games, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, and Kirby's Adventure, are my other two favorite Kirby games. As far as recommending this game. By all means I recommend this game. It is a fun game and it has that good quality that Kirby games should have. The negatives I mentioned in this game are very minor. Thus, Dreamland 3 gets a good rating of 9.2. Hope you take the time to play this game you will not be disappointed.

The cutest one in the dream land franchise.   RedHotToddy
In the past few days I have reviewed so far 2 of the Kirby's dream lands in the franchise, Kirby's dream land, and Kirby's dream land 2 both for the gameboy, Now Nintendo decided to step things up a notch and bring the dream land franchise to the super Nintendo for this 3rd installment, and this game is Kirby's dream land for the Snes, will this be the best of the franchise? Let's find out!
Story-7/10
The story behind this one is that Kirby and his blue friend gooey (Who seems to bear a resemblance of slim from dragon quest) are going on some sort of trip to the docks, and then out of the blue, this dude named dark matter has came to shatter the rings of Kirby's dream land, he then mind controls all of Kirby's enemies, so it is now up to Kirby to save the day again!
Gameplay-8/10
The game feels alot like the past two Kirby dream land titles but except with a few additions, the first new addition is the amount of Kirby's allies! He has a new friend named gooey who can help swallow enemies in one gulp, and the next addition is the graphics change, this is the super Nintendo so It all looks like it was tooken from a storybook of some sorts! So anyways, the level design is still the same, each world lasts about 6 levels long, and then you get to the boss fight of the world.  The bosses in each world are pretty hard and will take some skill in order to beat. Kirby still has alot of moves at his disposal, such as his ability to copy people's abilities, and yeah, there are alot more to come! So, that is it for the gameplay! The game really doesn't feel different from the last two, but that is for the best.
Graphics-9/10
Out of all the Kirby's dream land titles, this has got be without a doubt the best out of all of them! The graphics in this game look like they were taken right out of a storybook, and that is great! All of the characters look really really cute, I know this was a late SNES title, but still, all the levels you will be exploring are big, cartoony, and bursting with color! Awesome job Nintendo!
Sound-8/10
The first time I booted up this game I could not believe how hard they worked on the soundtrack to this game! This has got to be probably one of the greatest Kirby soundtracks ever! Every song in this game is bright, happy, and really suit the mood of each level you will be exploring, as for the sound effects, they are OK as well, they are your typical Kirby stuff though! And that is ok!
Addictiveness-8/10
Is this a game that I am going to play again? Um, that is an easy to answer question, Yes! This is the one Kirby's dream land that kept me busy the most! I remembered playing this one everyday and not getting tired! The game is really that fun! You best believe it everybody here on vizzed!
Depth-8/10
This is probably the longest Kirby's dream land out of the three, the game is about 8 worlds long, and 6 levels each, so the game will probably take you about 2-3 hours to beat. The replay value is pretty average on this on to say the least!
Difficulty-7/10
This one was actually pretty hard! I remembered the last two games being pretty easy, but this one actually challenged me alot! I remembered having a tough time on the so called final boss! But the game is sill easy a little, And I say a little!
Overall-9.4/10
This game is a must have for Kirby fans! It is cute, charming, fun, challenging, you name it! I gave this game a 9.4 because how much fun it is! Buy this one now, you won't regret it, please.

Combo Combo Combo!   iN008
Kirby's Dream Land 3.

Ah what to say about one of the cutest Kirby games to date?
Well I have to say this, its brilliant! The game appears to be the generic Kirby game until you begin to play it.
Game-play mechanics are refined during this game which improves it from the previous two games in the Dream Land series.
So before I get to a stage where I ramble for to long I will begin.

Game-play : 10 / 10
The game-play of Kirby's Dream Land is definitely improved from the previous incarnations of the series adding new elements to the play-style of the game, first off we can start with Kirby's basic copy ability, as usual this works like most other Kirby games, suck an enemy up and copy it's power. I feel as if the abilities of Kirby in this game feel more fluent and smooth compared to the previous two games and it shows how much it had improved during the change to the Super Nintendo. It also refined a feature, teaming up with the animals / creatures of Dream land to complete the game which can now be teamed up with from the start, each are unique as each of them work a different way. Now... this is where I got really impressed ; Different combinations of different animals and abilities have different results, for example stone Kirby and pairing up with rick the hamster will result in rick turning into a boulder you can run on top of and crush enemies, but if you use Coo ( The dark bird. ) will fly above with you and when you use the ability smash drop. This is by far a fun way to experiment with abilities and animal friends. You also have more than one objective each level, one being the same old, same old get past the level to progress through the game, and a different objective to get a end of level bonus of sorts. So overall I gave game-play a ten because of how well I found it played, it felt smooth and fluent and I found it enjoyable.

Level Design / Boss Designs : 7 / 10
The level design in Kirby's Dream Land 3 is pretty standard for Kirby game. The levels are design to be easy to play and navigate for anyone. This allows players of all kinds to play the game without difficulty or to much skill. The reason I do not want to rate it to high for Level design is because I felt at times it was plain and to average for Kirby, most of the styling of the levels felt like I had played them before, although there were some that mixed it up adding puzzles that are required for the end of level. Next the bosses where of decent strength. Although some of them where from different games the boss fight itself felt new with the addition of the animal friends. The bosses are of a decent difficulty with some requiring skill such as Acro the whale. Bosses such as Whispy Woods, Kracko and Mr. Shine & Mr. Bright come back in this game for another fight and still give a decent experience to fight. So I eventually gave this category and seven because of how it felt someone already done. The repeat of bosses seen in old games felt somewhat lazy and could have been easily replaced. But overall it wasn't too bad.
Graphics & Design : 10 / 10

By far this game definitely has the most cutest designs and graphical style for any Kirby game of the series and maybe even the console. The world around Kirby is colorful and fresh with a soft look to it. Characters, animal friends and even enemies look bubbly and colorful and keeps to the games theme. With each level the game looks fresh and it keeps you looking at the visuals. The game definitely expresses itself as a cute and cuddle game worth the time to look at. The style as a whole is artsy and creative even the bosses are designed well. I gave Graphics and design a ten because how much I liked the graphic design of the game, it felt nice and bubbly and brings out the best of Kirby. His enemies better watch out for this cute little blob!
Sound & Music : 10 / 10
The music is a good standard for a Kirby game, the music is upbeat and allows a nice atmosphere for the game. The music complements the cute visuals the game shows through it's levels and is well done. The sound effects are pretty standard as well, they depict the thing they have to represent well and sound good. I will admit the sound effects sounded exactly like the other Kirby games but why wouldn't they? After all it's the same pink blob and enemies after all. The music I felt was well composed such as the boss battle music for King Dedede, here is what I'm talking about : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF0g77M2ui0 . I eventually decided to give sound and music a 10 because of how much I enjoyed the music, the somewhat copied sound effects didn't bother me to much because it still felt like a real Kirby game.
Addictiveness & Re-playability : 9 / 10

Kirby's Dream Land 3 has a sense of fun to it, which makes you want to play more, the game gets you into it and motivates you to beat it as with many of the other Kirby games. The addictiveness only adds when you find out how to mix and match animal friends and copy abilities to there best and get all the secrets. The Re-playability definitely is there within the game, due to the levels being easy to understand one can go through the game like a normal player and beat it, to return to the game a complete it one-hundred percent. This is present in the secondary goal of each level. So I think giving this category a nine was well deserved as I felt it could be replayed many times and still be addictive.
Story & Plot : 8 / 10

The story of any Kirby game usually follows : King Dedede stole all the food, but not in Dream Land 3. In this game, during a peaceful day where Kirby is fishing with his partner Gooey, a dark black and mysterious cloud shoots across the sky and breaks through the Pop-Star's rings causing the Pop-Star to split. Soon they set off to save the day and protect the world once more. This story somewhat shows how even slightly changing the story can result in a good game. I enjoyed the story and the secret last boss. ( Yup spoiler the last boss isn't King Dedede. ) I definitely think the story and plot deserves a solid eight due to how even if it's a similar story to a previous game it still feels new.

Depth : 9 / 10
The game can take a considerable amount of time to complete, during this time you can enjoy the beautiful design and music that goes along with it. The game offers more than one way of completion ; The original boss battle with King Dedede or the secret final boss with * cough * Spoiler * cough *,  this means you can play through the game for two endings. Giving it a lot more depth than a lot of other Kirby games. I think a solid nine is a good score to give depth as the game offers more than first appears.

Difficulty : 5 / 10
The difficulty in any Kirby game is not something you call hard, the game is generally child friendly and can be played by anyone and there grandmother. The level design allows for players of all skill to play through without difficulty giving it a sense of ease to the game-play. The controls are easy to master and allow for easy play within the game. Mastering the game isn't hard and can be done easily. So I have given difficulty a 5 because I find it of neutral difficulty.

Overall : 9 / 10
In conclusion I will admit the game offers a lot and is enjoyable for almost anyone and can be played easily. The game-play is fluent and easy to control, the level design shows how anyone can play the game. The graphics are fresh and bubbly giving off colored in feel, the music is composed well and is pleasant to listen to. There is plenty to do within the game and the game offers enough re-playability for anyone, the story may seem a bit bland but I wouldn't down rate it for that. So I have finally settled on giving the game a solid nine for overall score. I feel as if this game deserves a score like such. So I recommend this game to any fan of Kirby to play and complete as it offers a lovely experience.

Kirby Dreamland 3   becerra95
(All games I review I own an actual copy [for multiplayer reviews] enjoy)
Been a while since my last review so Here goes...
Story: Kirby Dreamland 3 is for the Snes. he is back with friends to join along the journey. Something (wont spoil) is controlling King Dede (or Dedede since I really dont care for the penguin ) and its up to Kirby to stop him and the thing controlling him.
Gameplay: The graphics are great for young children with its crayon like pics but it took some time to get used to. You can play two players (2nd player is a blob which I don't know the name lol). Morphing to the enemies abilities by swallowing is still great (even 2nd player can be morphed to enemies ability). one problem is the picture of the abilities. They're simple, example is when kirby is spike kirby the pick is a triangle and rock kirby is just a polygonal figure. what am I spike kirby or triangular kirby? what happened to the awesome pics of kirby and the names? This game only shows pics of his ability, no name, just a pic. Anyway, the use of friends as weapons are cool. From a cat to a hamster even a bird a I think a squid. Last thing multiplayer, I like abusing the blob it's fun. Multiplayer depends on the 2nd player actually if he sucks or not.
Difficultlty: Kirby games are always easy since its not that complex
Final Statement: Kirby is a good game and I recommend to kids and adults that want some fun in crayon graphics (actually great when you look at it) music is annoying after a while and the game is a 8.7 for me. I'll be back with a new review soon bye

I'm going to die from over-cuteness.   MitsuriZX
Kirby's Dreamland 3 is a really cute game. It almost seems like everything from this game was taken off a child's sketchbook. Everything is so adorable and full of cuteness that i almost had a heart attack.
But,let's get to the story...you see, there is this evil monster and he is corrupting the entire dreamland, and your job is to des-corrupt the citizens of Dreamland, reach this evil monster, and then beat him. It is a platformer made by Nintendo,so of course they wouldn't screw up the gameplay. With one button you can jump, while the other one allows you to inhale enemies. Once you have inhaled enemies,if you crouch, you will copy his/her power. There are a variety of copy abilities that you can acquire. You can also ride partners, and they will enhance your copy abilities,or even turn them into somenthing entirely different.
In order to beat the game 100%,you must help all the citizens of Dreamland. Each stage has a citizen in need of help. Think of those challenges as extra missions that you can accomplish along the way. You can also summon Gooey, and he can help you in times of need. You can even use netplay, and play co-operatively,one player controlling Kirby, the other one controlling Gooey. The game will keep you going for hours and hours. There are a few secrets that can be found in stages, and you can take shortcuts by using certain copy abilities and certain partners.
I'd recommend this game for everyone,as the difficulty of the game is almost inexistent. The only way you would ever die is if the screen was invisible. Or,if you were blind. This is a great first game, If you have never played a game before, this is the one for you. It is simple, full of relaxing graphics and soundtrack, and it is cool to play with a friend.

Set graphics to old and use gooey because he helps you sink, without him the game is impossible to beat on emulator. Also at that wind level if you use the big bird you have less chances of glitching into the wall.

I finally made it past the water level, now to try to find a way to pass level 5-3 with this ice water:p All it took was gooey, lots of save states, getting stuck in walls dozen of times, freezing after beating levels, and resetting the game bunch of times

meh you can see through the leaves if you change the graphics to old, but getting through this water level is next to impossible. One way though is if you turn into stone you will drop to the very bottom and you can walk on the surface.

I can't really play the game when I can't see through the damn water like... wtf that just ruins the whole game.

This game was meant to be on the Game Boy, but it crashed.
