Really Good Kirby Remake!   luigi25

Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland was released for the Gameboy Advance near the end of 2002. I mentioned in my review for Kirby's Adventure that I liked this version better. The main reason for this was the improved graphics and musical numbers. This is one game series I never got into when I was a kid the way I did with Mario or Sonic. The experience I had with Kirby's Adventure was a somewhat mixed to positive experience. Nightmare in Dreamland is a good remake unlike a lot of the ones Nintendo did for the classic Mario games. It is one of the few ports/remakes of a video game that I enjoy more than the original, and I think that mainly has to do with the better visuals and sound. Other than that, Nightmare plays the same as Adventure and everything else feels the same to me.

Graphics 10/10: Right off the bat, Nightmare in Dreamland has better graphics than Kirby's Adventure. Adventure had some pretty impressive sprites and backgrounds for an NES game, but there were some hardware limitations that kept it from being a flawless looking game unlike the GBA version. In Nightmare, the whole game has been given a facelift! All the objects have plenty of detail and color to them. Nothing in this version looks dull or boring, and the artwork is a lot better and takes full advantage of the 32-bit handheld system. This is a really great looking game for the Gameboy Advance and looks like it was made for this console!

Music 9/10: Nightmare in Dreamland has a soundtrack with a lot of variety, and in some ways this helps the game and in other ways it hurts it. Overall, you get the same exact soundtrack from the NES version, but the songs sound better on the GBA. There have even been a few tracks brought in from other Kirby games like Kirby's Dreamland 3. I like the way the music in this port sounds better than what I did in the original Kirby's Adventure no doubt, but not all the songs are all that great. The track for Butter Building is kind of dull, but most of the other songs are excellent. Mostly, Nightmare has excellent sounding music with exception to a few songs.

Gameplay 10/10: The GBA port of Kirby's Adventure plays exactly like it did on the NES, but the control feels smoother this time around. There isn't as much slowdown on the GBA, but there is the problem with screen crunch. I don't see much of a difference between the two versions. The copy abilities are still there, but on the GBA, Kirby changes his appearance whenever he has one. The overworld maps return, and all 7 worlds have their own themes the same as last time. This game reminds me a lot of Super Mario All-Stars. These stages look so much better for this remake that it really makes you want to see what Nintendo did to enhance the look of all 7 worlds and each of their levels.

I enjoy playing these levels more than what I did on the NES because of their new look similar to my experience with Mario All-Stars. The stage design and gameplay is the same, but I love exploring these improved levels in order to find the same secrets from before with the NES game. The big secrets to both versions are the switches Kirby has to find in order to 100% Normal Mode and unlock the game's Extra Mode. After getting 100% in Extra Mode, players get to play another Hard Mode called "Meta Nightmare" where you play the same game again as Meta Night with the same amount of health. I didn't like these other two modes very much.

I believe a lot of the same mini-games and all are unlocked from finding all the switches with exception to a few. There are some new mini-games I like better such as: Kirby's Air Grind and the bomb mini-game. Both games give you extra lives and are pretty enjoyable. Unfortunately, many of these switches require Kirby to bring a copy ability with him into the level in order to reach them. I hated how when Kirby took damage, he lost that ability, had to go back, get it again, and replay the level in order to get to the switch. Some of these switches are very difficult to get to without losing your copy ability. Despite all of this, I do enjoy the better look of the stages, the exploration, and optional challenge of Nightmare in Dreamland just as much as I did in Adventure.

Story 5/10: The storyline for Nightmare in Dreamland gets the same score as it did in Kirby's Adventure. Kirby sets out on a quest to find the Star Rod which is the source of dreams for the people of Dreamland. He notices that when he woke up the next morning he didn't have any dreams and neither did any of the other inhabitants of Dreamland. Kirby plans on finding the Rod and placing it back in the center of The Fountain of Dreams in order to return dreams to the Dreamland kingdom. The intro for the game probably explains the plot better than I can.

This plot has some twists and turns to it players will discover when they reach King Dedede. I don't want to give away too much, but it is a pretty confusing storyline that I don't like very much. It's hard to follow, and I never got into the storyline for Kirby's Adventure that much. These characters are not that familiar to me, at least not at this point in the series.

Content 9/10: Nightmare in Dreamland has the same amount of enjoyable content that Kirby's Adventure had. I only found Normal Mode to be all that exciting, and after that everything became too repetitive for me. In this version, I hated Meta Nightmare which was the mode you unlocked after beating Extra Mode. Only having 3 bars of health always got me killed because of how I constantly took so much damage from bad enemy placement and input lag. In Meta Nightmare, I could never get used to the controls, so you can imagine how much I struggled with this mode. I did beat all 3 hard modes, but only found Normal Mode to be all that fresh and reasonably paced/difficult.

The Normal Game consists of: Vegetable Valley, Ice Cream Island, Butter Building, Grape Garden, Yogurt Yard, Orange Ocean, and The Rainbow Resort. Many of the levels from Butter Building onward contain switches which add to the game's exploration. Players are in for at least 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours worth of content that is fun, fresh, original, and exciting. For the GBA port, they are also in for levels with better graphics and music which makes this version even more of a blast to play.

Difficulty 3/10: This is a pretty easy game in both Adventure on NES and Nightmare on GBA. A lot of the problems with unresponsive controls exist in this game along with some screen crunch, bad visibility, and poor enemy placement. Although, Kirby has 6 bars of health (in Normal Mode), unlimited continues, lots of opportunities for extra lives, copy abilities, etc. There isn't as much slowdown for Nightmare in Dreamland either. After playing through both versions, I rate them both the same as far as difficulty. They're pretty easy to play unless you're trying to hit all the switches or play the game's Extra Mode and Meta Nightmare.

Overall 8.6/10: Nightmare in Dreamland is a good remake of Kirby's Adventure. It isn't a great remake, but the game, as a whole, is an improvement over the original, and I guess it is a pretty good game in general. The graphics are really exceptional, and they do the same thing that the improved graphics did for a game like Super Mario All-Stars. This gave the game new life and made it look more interesting. Every level looks so much better and different than the ones in the NES version. The presentation is A+ material, but the music isn't as perfect. This game still sounds better on GBA, but all the other categories are the same. It is still just a remake but a very good one which is rare for most remakes/ports of old Nintendo games from the late 80s and early 90s.

A remake of a classic, which oddly, is also a classic.   pieman9
Ah, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream land. Such a wonderfully designed game. This was one of the first games I ever played on the ol' Game Boy Advance. Those were the days....The days when Fighter was called Backdrop, the days when UFO was the best ability (not anymore!) and the days when Kirby kicked butt. Let's review this gem, shall we?
First, a little background. This game was released on December the 2'd, 2002. This game is a remake of the legendary Kirby's Adventure for the NES. This game was pretty much the same, except for a few minor changes, like new mini-games, updated sound and graphics, portability, and more.
Graphics: 10.
If you've ever played this, you know how good the graphics are. They set the standard for Kirby graphics all the way until Super Star Ultra. The backgrounds look so real! The Kirby sprite is the most popular for fan-based games, mostly because it isn't to big, isn't too small, and is just the right kind of pink. This is why I gave the graphics a 10.
Sound: 8
I love the sound in this game. My favorite sound is whenever you get a new copy ability it sounds this cool celebration sound. That alone is why it gets an 8. Sadly, most of the other music is just better versions from the old game. But hey? What do you expect from a remake?
Addictiveness: 10. This game is very, very addictive. Point blank. No further comment needed.
Story: 6. This is where the game lacks a tad. King DeDeDe has stolen the star rod to the Fountain of Dreams, and Kirby goes to get it. That's about it, really. But in Kirby games, there never really is much of a story anyway, so the story doesn't really matter.
Depth: 7. This is a tricky one. In order to get 100% on the game, you must beat all of the levels, AND press all of the switches in levels that stay red after you beat them. Even though after you beat the game you might have to go back to levels to get a hundred percent, there isn't that much to do after you beat the game. But, its incredible addictiveness means you'll want to start over and play again anyway.
Difficulty: 6. Aside from finding the switches, this game isn't very hard. It's still a lot of fun to play!
OVERALL RATING: 9.3. This game is a ton of fun to play. with over 16 different copy abilities to chose from, there are a wide variety of ways to beat enemies. I recommend this game to anyone who has a Game Boy Advance or a DS Lite.

Great port   pigboy
kirby : Nightmare in Dreamland, (a remade version of a Kirby Game from the NES), is just about as perfect as a Kirby game can get. All of the elements that make up a true Kirby Classic are present: the light hearted feel, the childish dialogue, the simple controls, and, of course, the fanciful yet still fun system of “copying.” Platformers don't get much better than this one, I'll tell you that right now. However, even this gem has a few mistakes that it could have avoided... and if the game makers had been able to avoid them, this game would be escalated to a level few games would ever be able to match.Of course, having read the introduction, by now you may feel that this game is, in a word, kiddie. Well, don't put it off just yet; like many things in life, staying with it will reap great rewards. Though obviously intended for kids, this game has way too many cool and innovative play elements to pass up... and not to mention it's also fun.Kirby games have prided themselves on their less-than-serious and whimsical stories, and this one shouldn't disappoint those who are used to those types of stories and love them. The Fountain of Dreams has protected and purified the dreams of every citizen in Dreamland. However, the evil King Dedede is using it for his... not so pure purposes, and the Star Rod, the centerpiece of the fountain of dreams, has gone on missing! Kirby must venture through the entire land and retrieve it! Then he must defeat the evil King Dedede! Kirby's sure got his work cut out for him...The stages in this game set a new level of standards for Platformers. Why? Because they're creative, a trait that all stages in games should have, but sadly don't. Most likely, nearly every single room in the game will have something that will most likely bring a smile to your lips (unless you're an old Mr. Scrooge... then you'll just grunt). For example, imagine a stage where a giant boss will basically be digging the path through the stage for you WHILE it fights you. Now that's innovative. The masterminds behind this game sure knew how to use their imagination... As you go through your quest to retrieve the Star Rod, you'll most likely be met with unique troubles that most people couldn't pass (If you didn't, this wouldn't be much of a game). Of course, Kirby will have to then call on his special abilities... and what special abilities they are! Kirby has always been able to float, spin and slide with the best of them, and this game won't leave out any one of those techniques. They all help you out greatly, but what's the most useful is undoubtedly Kirby's famous copying abilities. Just suck up an enemy, and Kirby will be able to “copy” it, AKA gain ALL of its special abilities. Although the “all” is most always “one,” this is still an ability not to be taken lightly and be passed up! There is probably no technique that could add as much deepness to the gameplay as this one (if there is, I'd love to see it). The types of abilities Kirby can copy range from being able to shoot fire balls to being able to shoot ice beams, from being able to bounce around like a human ball to being able to... go to sleep. Although some are (obviously) more useful than others, most all of the techniques are integral to the game and gameplay, and you couldn't live without them. The graphics for the game are actually very good for a Game Boy Advance game, despite the childish look. Of course, they've been greatly improved upon from this game's NES days, and everything looks smoother and livelier. The game has also added a few nice touches, like the few sparkling effects when you copy an enemy, the improved animations of copy abilities, and the shards of block flying whenever you crush one. These small graphical improvements do wonders for the whole graphical experience, and, if possible, make the game look better than it already is... And that's saying something. And the sound... I can't get the songs out of my head. Although most of the songs contain a plethora of high-notes and flute solos, they're all incredibly catchy, and they'll have you humming their melodies at the most inappropriate moments. There are also a wide variety of sound EFFECTS, although they all sound vaguely familiar to each other... however, the sound is still very unique and is sure a sight for sore eyes... er, a sound for sore ears... aw, forget it.However, this game is not without its (nearly crippling) faults. There aren't many, but they are sure big. For one- THE GAME IS TOO DANG SHORT. It's entirely possible to play through this wondrous adventure in JUST AN AFTERNOON. I would think seven full worlds should be enough to make this game last, but each of these worlds are extremely brief and won't take more than a few minutes. I nearly cried when I realized I was up to the final boss what seemed like a mere hour after I started. And for another thing, this game is also WAAAAY too easy. Aiming the remake at kids sacrificed so much of the original difficulty that I don't think I died more than once during my play-through- not more than once. Those two traits nearly bump this game (with so much potential) to rent status.Even with those major flaws, however, this game still has a unique appeal that is most certainly long-lasting. Its few extra mini-game modes are still innovative and fun enough to keep this game in the GBA cartridge long after you're done, and you just can't beat the classic gameplay. Overall, with its flaws and all, Kirby, Nightmare in Dreamland shines as a must-have on the Game Boy Advance.

Kirby's land Nightmare!   darthyoda
Jump into the world of Kirby, and suck you enemies up to get there abilities! Run through a set of amazing levels. The graphics give the game the feel of the fantasy world, and just draws you into the world that Kirby Lives in. The Sounds give the game amazing qualities, like when you press the B button it gives a sucking sound! The story is basically just you getting to the end boss, but the game does have many different level and bonus levels, like hitting a bomb to other players to get lives! You have so much to do to save Dream Land from the Nightmare! The game is not very difficult, but it is still a rather fun game to play. You get many lives throughout the game and this makes the game nice to play, and it also makes it easy to defeat bosses! Over all this game is rather good and I would give it nine out of ten points!
Summary (Brief Summary of my Opinion)
Graphics are rather good. 10/10
The Sound is okay. 7/10
The Addictiveness 8/10
The Story is not bad 6/10
The depth is not bad, because they don't have training or other things, but you do have many levels to play. 6/10
The difficulty is rather low for the levels, but the bosses are harder. 7/10
Over all 9.5/10

A Remake of One of the Classics.   DeluxeGamer123
Now, this is one of the very first Kirby games I got my hands on, aside from seeing one of my relatives play Kirby Super Star.
And It's safe to say this is the game that got me into the series.
Graphics: 7
The graphical style for this game works pretty well for a Kirby game, the visuals are bright and colorful, and almost every area looks different. The reason I didn't rate this higher is because the same kind of art style was used for Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, and Kirby: Squeak Squad. If not for that fact, I would rate it higher.
Sound: 8
All the music tracks that you know and love from Kirby's Adventure have been remade with the same spirit as the original, but newer. The sound effects have also been remade in the same way. Again, though, most of the music tracks/sound effects have been used in other games, so it's not rated as high as it could be.
Addictiveness: 9
I don't know why, but I keep coming back to this game again and again. It just has so many good things about it, and with that classic Kirby charm, it's quite addictive.
Story: 6
The story for this game is actually pretty simple, as with most Kirby games. King DeDeDe has stolen and broken apart the Star Rod, an item that, when placed atop the Fountain of Dreams, allows the citizens of Dreamland to dream at night. Kirby notices the dreams are gone, and sets off to get the Star Rod back. Pretty basic.
Depth: 10
Now, I usually wouldn't put this that high on a Kirby game, but the depth of this game is amazing. Beat story mode? Boss rush. 100% story mode? Extra mode. 100% extra mode? Another full-length game mode presents itself. I have yet to see a Kirby game that can rival that amount of depth. Maybe Kirby's Return to Dreamland, but it's a stretch.
Difficulty: 5
Kirby games aren't really that difficult. What can I say? The series was made for folks new to video games.
Overall Rating: 9.4
Although this game may appear simple at first glance, but it's got quite a bit of content to offer. Colorful levels, catchy and upbeat music, silly characters, simple controls that anyone can get into, and because of the fact that it's handheld, you can take it pretty much anywhere. This has always been one of my favorite Kirby titles, and It just has something that makes me keep coming back to it.

Classic and amazing   SeanTheMon
I just want to start off by saying this was my very first video game, and it was a great one at that, the graphics are great for gameboy advanced, nothing to complain about there, the music is really catchy and awesome to listen to, I found my self looking up a lot of O.S.T from the game, once I picked it up I couldnt stop till I was done, the story is fun you have to go off and look for the star rod, I wont give anything away, the game offers a lot, between stages and mini games you have a lot to do, and getting 100% isn't easy, you have to really look and think outside the box, (unless you look it up but I didnt have internet as a kid) the game is pretty hard but it's a bit easier now that I'm older, still pretty challenging and fun game. I recommend this to anybody whether or not you're a kirby fan.

A Night Mare in Dreamland   tornadocam
If you are having nightmares, who you gonna call? Call Kirby as he has experience in dealing with nightmares. Kirby can help you get off to dreamland, without having to worry about nightmares . Okay in all seriousness, today I am going to be reviewing Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland. In this review I will be analyzing points to this game as well as offering my own critique of this game.
 Story (Plot): 9
If you have played previous Kirby games before, then this plot should sound familiar to you. Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland is a remake of Kirby's Adventure. Okay onto the plot now. Kirby notices that he cannot dream as well as fall asleep. He notices that the other residents cannot dream or sleep either. The residents of Dreamland often take naps to dream happy dreams. Kirby wonders to himself has something happened to the Fountain of Dreams? Kirby goes to the Fountain of Dreams and finds King Dedede swimming in the fountain's pool. In addition, Kirby notices the Star Rod missing, which it collects all the dreams. Kirby ask the king what has he done with the Star Rod? Dedede tells the young hero that he broke the rod into 7 pieces and gave 6 pieces to his friends. He starts to tell Kirby that there is a reason why he did it, but Kirby has none of it. Kirby sets out to reclaim the Star Rod unaware of the dangers he is getting into. I liked how Hal Labs in remaking this game did not change the plot. Often, companies will remake a game but change the plot. So, I was glad Hal Labs did not do that with this game. In Kirby's Adventure I liked the plot then and I like it now. There is a lot going on in this game's plot. You have mystery involved as to why did King Dedede steal the Star Rod? You also have creativity involved. In addition, there is suspense to this game. Such as, why did King Dedede steal the Star Rod and break it into 7 pieces? It makes the player think and ask questions. For example, is King Dedede really a bad guy or is he trying to protect the Fountain of Dreams from something else? I really liked this plot even if it is retold. Thus, I give the story to Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland a solid 9 out of 10.
Graphics: 9
In the original (Kirby's Adventure) game the graphics in that game were revolutionary at that time. Kirby's Adventure blew me away with its graphics, when it came out back in 1993/1994. Guess what, the graphics blow me away again. Kirby's Adventure was done on an 8 bit system. Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland was done on a 32 bit system. The graphics really show that to. The stages have more color than they did in the original game. The trees in the forests stages look like actual trees, which is nice. The water is crystal clear just like actual water. Moreover, the colors are more bright and really jump at you in this game compared to the original game. The sprints in Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland are improved from the original version. The enemies and characters have a more defined shape than they did in the original game. The controls remain unchanged. Kirby's controls are still very smooth and do not appear to be sluggish at all. In addition, there are no lags in this game, which is very nice. The only problem I have with this game is that Hal Labs changed some of the layouts to the stages. I was really hoping they would have kept the same layout, but oh well. Still, the graphics to this game are very nice. Thus, I give the graphics a solid 9 out of 10.
Sound: 10
Just like the original, the sound in this game is amazing. I really liked this game's soundtrack. Most of the tunes are very relaxing, which I enjoyed while playing this game. Kirby's has gotten more clearer sounds when he has a special weapon compared to the original game. The weapon sound's in this game are more smooth and clear than they were in the original game. The sounds of the weapons lets the player know that they have a powerful weapon on hand. The fire weapons still sound powerful. The ice weapons still have that crackle to them, which sounds like Ice does when it cracks. The enemy attacks are also more clear. The enemies sound more powerful when they attack than they did in the original game. Since this is a 32 bit game there are also no tingles in this game either. I also like how Kirby or Meta Knight still have that funny sound when they die. I have always liked that sound, I guess I just find it funny. The only minor issue I have with the sound, and it is not enough to drop the rating. Is that Hal Labs changed some of the music in world 4. I was really shocked that they did that. In the original game world 4 had a very nice calm tempo to it. I guess maybe Hal Labs was just trying to make it more appealing? They should have left the original music alone and remastered it. In most levels they did remaster the themes just not in world 4. But, like I said that is minor and the music they replaced that world's theme with is also nice. Thus, at the end of the day I give the sound of this game a perfect 10 out of 10.
Addictiveness: 9
Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland is just like the original. It has a high replay value in my book. There is a lot to do in this game. Hal Labs even threw in a few little surprises more on that in the depth section. I got this game when it first came out for the Game Boy Advanced that was over 10 years ago. Here it is 2014 and I still like to play this remastered classic.
Depth: 10
Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland really shines on its depth. There are several items to collect in this game. The player just like in the original will need to find switches to open more levels. In addition, there are several special powers to acquire in this game. Often I like to play the game with a certain special power, and see how far I can go with that power. However, Hal Labs threw in a few surprises in this game. The first being after you beat the game, you can play the game again on hard mode. Hard mode is a lot tougher as you only have 3 health bars instead of 6. If you manage to beat the game under hard mode you get to unlock another game. Beating the game on hard mode allows you to play as Meta Knight YES ! Being able to play as Meta Knight really adds depth to this game. I have always thought Meta Knight was an awesome character and that Hal should allow players to play through a game using him. I also like it how Hal Labs forces you to beat the game twice to unlock Meta Knight. It makes replaying the game again worth it. The original game had depth but its remake has more depth. Thus, what can I say this game has a perfect rating concerning depth.
Difficulty: 7
The difficulty of this game was hard for me to rate. The game has its problems and tricky spots. The stages that gave me the most trouble had lots of enemies in them. In fact, the enemy placement in this game can be tricky just like the original version. So  many times enemies will hit you from behind, corner you or drop down from the sky knocking you down into the pit. On the other hand, this game gives you several special weapons to deal with the enemy placement problem. Some of the bosses were hard and others not so much. The first two bosses are pretty easy but the others were more difficult. In fact, the ones after world 3 require skills and creativity to beat even with a special power. I really like games that offer a challenge, require skills, and creativity to master. What hurts this game though is some of the stages are easy. Not to mention the game did not get difficult for me until the 4th world and beyond. I did mention the enemy placement being a problem but like I stated this game gives you lots of weapons to deal with that. Therefore, playing on normal mode is difficult but not to bad. Now, if you are playing on hard mode than the difficulty rating becomes a 9 out of 10. On hard mode instead of having 6 bars of health the player only has 3. So that means, that you need to try not to get hit at all. Also on hard mode, items that restore your health such as soda's or tomatoes are harder to find. Moreover, if you are playing as Meta Knight than the difficulty becomes a 10 out of 10. Meta Knight cannot use special weapons as he uses his sword. So, that means enemies can hit you from behind. He is also fast but not as fast as Kirby so that can be challenging. Players who play as Meta Knight, once you unlock him, should be aware of one thing. Meta Knight only has 3 bars of health not 6. Thus the Meta Knight option is a challenge. Still I like playing as Meta Knight, he has always been a cool and mysterious character.
Overall: 9.1
Okay this was a good game and I enjoyed. But I did have a few issues I am now going to address. The first being changing the layout. Seriously, Hal Labs what were you thinking? I really liked the layouts in the original game they were nice and fun. Why did they have to change it. Most of the layouts were changed in world 4. I do not know why they changed the layout and I will be honest I do not like change. I thought the layouts in world 4 were very cool in the original game. I do not understand why Hal Labs could not have remastered them. After all they did it for the other worlds. In addition, why did Hal have to change the bonus games in this remake. The original game had bonus games, crane fever, catch the eggs and my favorite quick draw. The bonus games in this remake, are racing, and  samurai Kirby. I liked the bonus games in the original. I would have loved to have seen what the graphics would have been for the original bonus games. Okay I am done with the negatives so lets talk about the positives. I really liked this game. I thought the graphics and sound were nicely done and remastered well. Another think I liked was Kirby changes a little bit to reflect what special weapon he has. If he has the ice power, he turns blue and has an iceberg on top of his head. That was pretty cool, no pun intended . If he has a fire weapon than flames will be coming out of his ears, which is kind of funny. If he has the stone power he gets what looks to be a Roman helmet as a hat. I also like how you get to play as Meta Knight. In fact playing as Meta Knight is what motivates me to beat this game. So I can play as Meta Knight. I have always ,as I stated, liked Meta Knight. He is a cool, noble and loyal character. As for recommending this game. Yes I would recommend this game it is fun and if you get to unlock Meta Knight that is a huge bonus and worth beating the game again. However, I would also recommend that you play Kirby's Adventure first just to see how this game plays. After all it is a remake of that game. Hope you take the time to enjoy this remastered classic.

This is the best retro game I ever played. :D   Blobbie244
Hi. Welcome to Blobbie244's Review for Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land (2002) NOTE: I don't really like Kirby's Adventure, but I love the remake :) Now when you are ready, read this now.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Graphics: I think the graphics are the limit of a 32-bit system. This game introduced the Kirby sprites everyone still uses, I would love for Nintendo to continue the GBA and make another Kirby game! Graphics 9/10
Sound: Some of the most classic and catchiest music! It's a shame that there is 43 songs and only 273 sounds. But still, I love the music! The music is so good, that it matches the graphics! 8/10
Addictiveness: I have been playing this game for 3 daysa row. O_o I know right?! I have been begging to visit Rainbow Route, the sub games are finally added, and I am waiting and loving to get 100% progress! And Boss Endurance. :D 10/10
Story: I am not very interested into stories, but this one is some of the coolest ones. Dedede, star rod, nightmare, Bla Bla Bla... 4/10
Depth: This game offers half of how much you expect Kirby to do. I love the design, the original Sub-Games, and the first game to directly give you Sound Test! 7/10
Difficulty: Not so hard for me, the controls are Z and X mainly, and it only took me three days to get to the end of the game, it's because of how good I am at Kirby. :D If you are a beginner in Kirby, then it will be like 18 days to get like me :L 3/10
Time to wrap this thing up with the overall!!!
My overall is 9.6, I think this is the second best Kirby game I ever played. If you have a Game Boy Advance, you need to get this game. Nintendo is so crazy! They skipped the 16-bit generation of Game Boy and stepped it up to 32. UMG! I'm tired of typing, Doesn't it say to wrap this up?!  Gotta go there is some guy that's angry...

kirby nightmare in dreamland   rooney03
hmm... what should I play... I KNOW! Kirby! Lets see,  how about... Kirby, nightmare in dreamland! Yeah, so lets start!
GRAPHICS: 9
the graphics on this Kirby game, in fact, ALL Kirby games are outstanding! This game's graphics push the limits, sort, but, it's a treat to look at it, even after playing on the wii U or PS4, it still has amazing graphics to compare with most other games
GAMEPLAY: 9
the game play is amazing, the controls are responsive and the abilities are some of the best, I only have one problem, you can only use UFO in the level you get it in! I got the UFO in level 2, Ice cream Island and as soon as I got through the level, I was normal Kirby! Well, I do suppose that such a great ability can only be for on place...
SOUND: 8
Kirby games have brilliant music, this game is no exception, I love listening to all the music in the music viewer again and again, in fact, I even hum the boss music and vegetable valley  music without realising it!
ADDICTIVENESS: 7
once I started playing the game, I couldn't stop! I even 100%-ed the normal story and am now completing extra mode! It's a really addictive game and I still can't get away from it!
STORY: 6
the story is simple, "king DeDeDe has stolen the star rod and hid it's seven pieces in seven different places of pop star, and you, Kirby, must find them and defeat the nightmare" there is a, well, plot twist during the end, but I won't tell you that, so, great story!
DEPTH: 8
there's a lot of depth in this game, there are three modes, with loads of secrets, mini bosses and tricks to find, so keep a keen eye out!
DIFFICULTY: 5
now, Kirby games may look cute and cuddly, but these games can be hard as stale bread at times, don't believe me? Just try to 100% normal mode, if you can defeat the final boss without losing any health... don't worry, I can wait... done it? No? Told you so...

Its Awesome !!!   rathlucas
Kirby - nightmare is a game I played a lot when I have my 6-7 years, now I have the possibility to play it again and for me its a great game, I love Kirby and Mario wario etc, but Kirby is the best and the Meta knightmare form...I don't need to say how awesome is.
the game inst very difficult but the overall is the one that counts, the sound is very good for the game boy and is hard to find a game like this, well the graphics are almost perfectly, if its have released for the super Nintendo the graphics will be perfect, well I don't have much more to say, play this game, if you don't like ok, but if you like I recommend play another game of Kirby and you will have much diversion?

marc3300: Unfortunately, with mednafen (the set emulator for this game) you cannot use Game Genie/Game Shark, however if you have a emulator with Game Genie or Game Shark built in such as the VBA on your system then try that.
