Maybe the best HM game in the series TheDiaz
Harvest Moon is one of my favorite game series of all times. But it was the 64 that made me fall in love with the farming simulation. Way better than the newer simulation games for the pc, or those that you can find on Facebook.
Graphics 9
Don't expect something like a Conker's Bad Fur Day graphics for this score. It deserves it because hey are how they should be. The game shows 3D environments with 2D pre-rendered cute sprites for every character, item and animal, and other stuff. They look cute, as they have to be. It was a nice jump from the 16-bits graphics, as they look more detailed and have more animations, even sprites that show you the face of the character when you talk to them. These were the graphics the game needed. But is better to notice the differences between the seasons, when you farm is full of snow and completely white.
Sound 9
I must say this: I love the music and sounds of the game. The music is enjoyable, changing every season. When you are new to the game, you should be asking yourself on the last day of the month "how will be the next season's theme". I love listening to my cows, sheep, chickens, horse and dog when they make their respective sounds.
Addictiveness 10
Easy as that, I've played many times Harvest Moon 64. I will make you picture this: You get the ending, where you get information about how good you did and in what you needed to do more. You enjoyed so much the game and you say to yourself: "I can do it better this time". That's me, and then I find myself searching for information on how to improve my game.
And for the record, this is the kind of game you say "5 minutes more", and then you find yourself 2 hours later asking to you why you didn't do your homework first.
Story 8
The game premise is simple, and it is shown on the game's intro, just like in the SNES version. Your grandfather died and his farm hasn't been cared for too much. You decided to take the farm going once and then the game begins. But that's not the only story, While you make friends and woo a girl, you'll start discovering their stories, you can even see romance going on between characters. Everything opens to you as you play and you notice every character own personality nicely represented.
Depth 10
Wait, how a game about farming can have a 10 on depth? Easy, you are not just farming in this game. Harvest Moon 64 is part social simulation, so you can go and try to become friends with the town folk, even get married, have a kid and be a good father and husband. The game is deep at some points, every character has their own favorite things, and others they hate, and discovering them can be tricky, because if you give them something they don't like, they'll hate you :D. You can participate, in annual events in town, allowing you to gain prizes, and if you win an animal contest the animal's produce will worth more, and maybe becoming closer to the people.
You have collectibles too, find all the recipes (which you can't cook, but are necessary for a perfect ending ¬¬) , photos through events and power berries that will make you stronger, allowing you to last longer in work.
Difficulty 6
Harvest Moon is not a hard game. In fact, you can make it as challenging as you want. I can say that after seeing people trying to achieve a perfect ending, which is hard and you require every second the days lasts in the game. If you want to take it at your own peace, it's not a difficult game at all, but there are some problems here and there.
The main problem is the time you have in one day. Sometimes doesn't seem to be enough, you can finish a week in one hour or less, which is fast. The second problem is how some of the animals work. This was fixed on later installments as you can pass through or jump over the animals, which could get you to some frustrating... STUPID HORSE, GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!! (Resetting the game because I got stuck situation). The last one is that it is easy to fail where you are trying to do something, making it a waste of resources because if you try to give something to someone you might throw to the ground and loose it because it is difficult to know if you are on the right position.. or he just moved when you pressed A :P
Overall 9
I don't think Harvest Moon 64 is a must play for HM fans. I believe it is THE Must Play Harvest Moon of the series. It's nice, even with some problem there and here that can get frustrating but are really easy to fix (Really, you can avoid them easily). It's fun to play, it is nice to talk to the character's personalities and fun fearing you rival in love would get married with the girl you are trying to give the Blue Feather to marry. Just take you hoe and watering can, because it's time to grow some turnip!.

Harvest Moon 64 sushai
Oh, Harvest Moon. You've always been a favorite of mine!
Harvest Moon 64 is a classic, without a doubt. It's plot relies solely on one person: you! I always found this to be an amazing aspect for the game. Not only did I love the concept of the game, I felt as though it was my own game because it was personalized, to an extent. For this reason, I have always been a hard core fan of Harvest Moon. Despite some translation issues.
With this version, however, I have some issues. Since it is a copy of an N64 game, it's bound to have some glitches. When I play the game on this site, I find that the game runs excruciatingly slow. Not so much so that it's not playable, but it's annoying. At times, it clears up and runs as it did on the console, but almost always it lags. For that reason, I give this game a 9.5. Though all of the amazing aspects of the plot and game shine through, the controls and lag bring the quality down some.
Besides technical issues, though, it's amazing. You play as a boy who is taking over his grandfather's farm, and you have two and a half years to perfect it. Sounds simple, yes? Wrong. This game is all about your decisions, so if you mess up, then you've gotta fix it. Fast. But that's exactly what I love about the game. You have complete and utter control. Yes, the plot doesn't very much further than that for other HM games, but it never gets old! Especially because you're not just limited to farming; you can get married and interact with other people as well. The marriage part has always been a favorite of mine. I found myself working more to get a heart event than to impress the father at the end! Harvest Moon 64 is a great game that you'll always come back to because of it. I could never put down the controller when I played it on my N64.

A Farming Game Fun? Better Believe It michelle1091
As the very first Harvest Moon game I've played, Harvest Moon 64 has always held a place in my heart, so I decided to make my very first review about it.
Graphics: 9
Being honest, the graphics are not as good as games like Legend of Zelda for the N64, but they do shine in their own way. Harvest Moon graphics have always been made to look more cute than anything else, and in that aspect, the game succeeds. Each character you meet has their own icon showing you what they look like and each emotion they show, a definite must in any simulation game as it makes you feel like you're actually getting to know somebody.
Sound: 9
The music has been known to annoy some people, but that's the only reason why it's not a 10. The music is kind of fun, and I often catch myself humming along with it while playing, and sometimes when I'm just doing housework. What makes this game unique though, is for different seasons or certain events, the music will change. Unless you're a frequent Harvest Moon player, you don't know what to expect. When I first started playing, the music always interested me, I couldn't wait to get to the next season just to hear the music.
Addictiveness: 10
I can't say enough about how addictive this game is, by just hearing about it you would never guess that a farming game could be this fun. It's impossible to describe, so I won't, you'll have to see for yourself.
Story: 9
The story is actually kind of simple, your grandfather dies and leaves his farm to you, you've got 3 years to restore the farm to it's former glory, or you lose, and yes, it is possible to fail. When you start you name your character, your dog, the farm, and choose your birthday. So if it's so simple why did I give it a 9? Because the story changes slightly as you play. As you interact with the villagers, more and more will open up to you. Due to the risk of giving away spoilers, I'll stop here.
Depth: 10
There is so much to do in this game, it's almost impossible to get bored. Of course you need money, but you can choose to grow crops, raise animals, or even just forage and fish in Spring, Summer, and Fall and mine in the Winter. Bottom line, in the 3 years you have to restore the farm, you need to win festivals, get married, have a baby, enlarge your house, and it may be best to have a lot of animals and have a field full of crops. Back to the get married part, there are five girls to choose from, each with different looks and different personalities. Will you go for the bar waitress Karen, the flower child Popuri, the ranch worker Ann, the librarian Maria, or the bakery worker Elli? There is so much more too, it's never ending fun.
Difficulty: 7
I gave this a 7 because it is rather easy to miss certain things, and when you're playing for the first time, you probably won't find everything, but that just adds to the fun, and makes you want to play it again and again. However for regular Harvest Moon players, the games are easy, and we like that since it only makes the game more relaxing. Due to that though, the difficulty rating brings down the overall rating, which is actually kind of a shame. I can't stress on this enough, it's not easy to make a farming game sound fun, in fact if my grandma didn't have the game when I was younger, I probably would never have heard of it. I urge you to at least give this game a shot.

Harvest moon 64 review tf2playerisme
harvest moon 64 is a great game, just not the best. There is a lot to do but those things just don't last long. I finally love the harvest moon series, thanks to this game on the N64. The graphics aren't too good, but they're forgivable for how old the game is. The difficulty is weak, but enjoyable to the point of the game being fun for all ages. I've had some serious fun with this franchise and genre of game and I enjoy it so much. I of course cannot speak for other people and their opinions on this game. If you have a lot of free time, some fast fingers, or just want to play a game that's like a farming "The Sims", this game is for you and you should play the other games in the franchise.
If you play this game you should get ready to get down-n-dirty in the mud, and farm for your life, money, your relatives and your secret harvest moon love.
