Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Featured Review

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review by: Lexatom - 5.4/10

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review: SCARY
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released to theaters all across the country a long time ago. Due to its success, a lot of merchandise was created, including a video game. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released on the Game Boy Advance in 2004. I don’t think many people played this game, but I did when I was a kid, and I loved it, even though it was really hard. What do I think of this game nowadays?

Graphics - 4
It may just be me, I don’t know, but am I the only one that thinks the graphics in this game look disgusting? If you haven’t seen this game, go look at some screenshots, and tell me what you think. These have got to be some of the worst graphics I have seen on the Game Boy Advance, and it sickens me to look at these graphics. And when I say everything looks disgusting, I mean everything, even the icons for crying out loud!

Sound - 7
I only remember about 1 or 2 tracks from this game. Still, those two tracks aren’t anything that I’d call amazing, but they still sound pretty cool for the Game Boy Advance. I remember despising a lot of songs from this game just because of how annoying they were. Heck, I think there was even a track that just had a single note playing for 5 seconds and then went up a bit, then repeats itself. That’s not a song, that’s an annoyance. The rest of the songs are mediocre, and they work for whatever situation you’re in most of the time.

Addictiveness - 6
I’ll admit, even with all of the negative things I’ve said about this game so far, I still had a little fun with it for the first few hours of gameplay. After that, the game gradually gets more boring as time goes on. I got so far into the game, that it got so boring, that walking down a simple hallway in the game was more fun. I’m not kidding. If you decide to play this game, I promise you that you won’t be playing it for very long.

Story - 4
Alright, I guess it’s time to confess. I have never seen this movie. I know, shocking, please don’t kill me. However, I do know the plot of the movie, and it’s more or less the same here, just with a few extra situations added in for it to be a longer game. One thing I don’t really like is that it takes FOREVER to get to the main storyline in the first place. That, and thanks to the extra situations added into the game, the main plot is all over the place because these random, seemingly pointless situations interrupt the actual story way too much. I hate it so much, and the only reason I’m giving this category a 4 and not a 2 is because the movie plot still exists in this game.

Depth - 7

RPG’s are known for having more depth than any other game in them, most of the time. Since this game is an RPG, you’d think that. However, I found the game lacking a bit in content. Not to the point of where there’s literally no side quests or anything, but there’s just not enough to dictate a second playthrough, especially because of all the negative things I’ve said about this game so far.

Difficulty - 10
Holy crap, why is this game so hard for absolutely no reason!? Like seriously, I have died so many times from the first boss, and you reach the first boss in around 15 minutes of play time. Of course, difficulty depends on your stats since this is an RPG. But even still, the bosses will beat you down, and it will seem impossible to beat them. I gave up on beating the game because of a GIANT TREE MONSTER. That thing deals like 5,000 damage and I was like 5 hours into the game. You don’t put something like that that early!

Overall - 5.4
This game, I kind of hate it, to be honest. I cannot think of many positive things to say, as demonstrated in this review. It’s a mediocre game and I have no idea why I kept coming back to it when I was younger. It’s not a good game, but there’s JUST enough positive things about it to keep it just barely above a rating of 5. The decision to play this game or not lies with you.
