Barathrmos' Goldeneye 007 game review   Barathemos
Barathemos' Goldeneye 007 game review
Well, well, well, another first person shooter that I have on my hands to review. Just to get to the basics, Goldeneye 007 is based off of a movie called, wait for it, Goldeneye 007. This is a game that can take a movie and come out with a good video game. When some movie producers came out with their movie, a game network, Nintendo or Sony, had to come out with a game. These games are normally not good at all, but this was the game that changed that.  This game had very good parts about it that made it a great game. The game, Goldeneye 007, has absolutely no parts that will pull it down a lot.  The single player mode was what some people called " Not enough" but for a game that came out in the early years of video games, this was awesome. So with all of its small down points and up points, I will give Goldeneye 007 an 8.8 overall.
Graphics:7
I can not start to tell you how many people would give this game a 1 in graphics if they played this game for the first time. ( Yes I can) When people think of rating graphics for a video game they usually think of a game such as Call Of Duty to have good graphics, because it does. But you want to compare graphics for a game to other games on the system. And for a game that came at the start of video games, Goldeneye 007 was a really good game in this category. As you can see, I have given Goldeneye 007 a 7 out of 10 because the game was good in this sector but there were defiantly some games that would top it. 7 is not bad because that is not, for me, a failing grade.
Sound: 10
This game has awesome sound. The music in this game makes me happy to play the game. The music and sound have the good part of smooth sounding music unlike some other games that I have reviewed. The music patterns was really interesting, it made me wonder what was going to happen next until I found out what sound effect, change in music meant. The sound effects were also awesome. You could just sit there, shoot people, and listen to the awesome but unhappy sound that was coming out. There was not much to say here but I think that I did a good job.
Addictiveness: 8
This game has its good parts and its low parts, I would count this section as a low part. Addictiveness is how likely you are to play the game again or how long you will play it for. This game was a lot of fun back in the old days.  Playing in multiplayer with your friends was awesome. Too bad that Call Of Duty had to come around. This game could only attract me for around an hour on single player mode so it does not get what the full is. It was fun but not the best.
Story: 10
This is pretty easy. The story is hard to explain but if you have seen the movie than you will know what the story is. If you have not than play the game and than you will know. It is a great story, that is why it is too hard to explain. Just play the game or see the movie, or both, and you will see just how awesome the game is in this section. If I could explain than I might be sitting for hours.
Depth: 10
There is a lot to do in this game. If you want to, you can put in cheats that can make you have unlimited ammo or life, but that is a cheap way to make the game easy for you. You can also play in multiplayer doing one shot kill, team death match, or any other game that the game has to offer. Plus you can choose a different difficulty for each level and the higher the difficulty, the more missions you will have to do. The overall point is that this game has a lot to offer that will keep you playing for hours.
Difficulty: 9
This game is hard. If you are looking for an easy in one sitting game. DO NOT PLAY THIS ONE. The main that is hard is aim. If you could aim better than this game would be a whole lot easier. The aiming in the game takes a long time to get used to. I have finished most of the game and aim is still a weak point for me. The aim is easier if you are using the sniper rifle because you zoom in a lot more. If you are shooting someone up close than you are basically dead.
 Goldeneye 007 is a great game that you should try if you are into game like Call Of Duty, it really is great.

Goldeneye-Always a classic   Ciaron12
Goldeneye
Goldeneye, the classic first person shooter. If you have never played this game you are truly missing out. This is one of the games that made the first person shooter genre what it is today. This a game that almost every gamer has played, and for good reason. I know that I have spent countless hours on the single player, not to mention the multi-player. The multi-player played a crucial role in this games success.
Graphics -
This graphics in this game are very well done, its easy to see details, and you can even shoot a variety of things in the background. At the time this game was released this game was about as good as it got. The first memory I have of this game is crawling through the vents in the Facility, and simply being amazed at what I was looking at. It was a big deal.
Sound - The sound in this game is top notch. The music on EVERY level sounds great. I have even found myself humming some of the tunes on occasion. The sound impacts actual gameplay in numerous ways. For instance, let's say I am playing the Aztec temple. I start the game and go to shoot the guys in the first room. The first thing I hear is a grenade coming my way. Based on the sound, I can determine where the grenade was thrown and use it to make the guys run into the explosion.
In multi-player you can hear things such as rockets being shot at you, so you know you need to dodge, mines being thrown on doors etc. You can listen for explosions, to know whether or not an area is safe, and judge how long the explosion will last from there. Try playing this game without sound, it makes it soooo much harder.
Gameplay -
The gameplay in this game is top notch. It is incredibly addicting. The variety of difficulties and the computers reaction to your shots makes every game unique. Its simple to control, aiming is easy, shooting is easy, switching guns is easy. Everything about controlling your character is easy.
Once you have finished 00 Agent you can even modify how strong the guys are in-game modifying things such as reaction time and health. The objectives in each level are simple, its not hard to understand what you need to do, it can simply be challenging. So much so it can be infuriating. You don't know what challenging is until you try to beat the Aztec temple on 00 without cheats. I have only done it twice throughout the years.
Multi-player
This is my favorite part of the game. I have spent hours upon hours playing multi-player. Games like Halo and Call of Duty would not be where they are today if it wasn't for Goldeneye. There are few things that could be adding to improve it such as computer AI to multiplayer and custom weapon sets. You can change weapon premade weapon sets (they are pretty fair), and change characters (except Oddjob...cheaters...)
The levels are very well done. The only one I have a problem with is the caves, because honestly, I just can't see whats going on. Levels like the complex, facility, and the temple have been replicated in other games (they are that good).
It would be nice to be able to play on separate screens, but this technology was simply not available at this time. If you don't know the levels and are playing against someone who does, you are at a distinct disadvantage.
Difficulty
This game is HARD. Agent is simple, secret agent is ok, 00 is frustrating. The two difficult levels (for me) are Control and Aztec. I remember spending hours on these levels, only to beat them in adulthood. You have to learn strategies to pass them. I remember the anger I experienced as I was shot and killed while waiting for the rocket to launch to end the Aztec on 00.
Replayability
There is tons of replayability in this game. Everyone has their favorite levels that they play more then others (Facility, Frigate, and Train for me). Multi-player is always fun to do with a group. To this day, when I get together with my brothers this is one of the games we play. It NEVER gets old.
Conclusion
This game rocks, it is famous for a reason. If you haven't played this game do yourself a favor and try it. It lives up to the hype. Its a classic. You will thank yourself later.

Goldeneye 007   vizwiz123
SPOILER ALERT:
IF you want to read what happens in the game, read on. IF you want to see my actual scores, skip to the bottom. Warning you right now :P
Goldeneye 007. Easily one of the best game on the N64 and one of the best games ever made. To start off, I might as well share everything in the game.
Goldeneye was one of the first games I've ever played, and I can sure thank my brothers for introducing me to it as a kid. I remember starting up the Dam mission, and from the moment the epic switch to FPS after a brief glimpse of the Dam happened, I was hooked instantly. Killing bad guys with the sniper rifle was one of the highlights of the level.
Moving on to the Facility, one of the most well known levels from the game for various reasons, the start from the air conditioning vents and the guard standing up over the toilet. You just got to rescue a certain scientist, blow up some gas tanks, and gtfo. Overall, a great level to play.
After apparently witnessing 006's death at the hands of Ouromov, you escape the gunfire into the Runway, probably the shortest level in the game with a random tank for no reason. It's well known mainly just for the tank, and the crunch sound it makes when you run over a bad guy. Short, simple, and easy to handle this level is.
Surface I is our first snow level in the game with some great music. We’re introduced to the pathetic Klobb (I still use it the most though….) and the Grenade Launcher (damn near pointless to use by the time you get it XD) Overall a great level.
Now we infiltrate the base and end up in the Bunker, with one of the best tracks in the game. It really did creep me out (ya know, till the drum kicked in :P). This isn’t a very long level, you can beat it pretty quickly once you know what the heck you’re doing, but this is another great level. Hey, you can also enslave and/or kill Boris in this level, doesn’t that mean anything? :P
Now we’re randomly end up in the Silo, where your objective is to place bombs in certain places to blow up the place and escape with various data cards. Fun level with really pumped up music, just don’t kill the scientists. :P
Onwards to Frigate, where Xenia is rumored to be (don’t worry, she’s not there at all :P) WE get some new weapons here, such as the Phantom (twin Phantom ftw!). Your objective is to rescue the hostages, plant a tracking bug on the stolen helicopter, and GTFO. This level is probably one of the harder levels, as you might accidentally alarm some guards who will kill hostages. Just be quick and quiet, k? :P
Up next is….Surface? AGAIN? AND WHY IS THE SKY RED? SCARIEST THING EVER! D:< Anyways, your objective is the same as the first level, but now you have to destroy the satellite instead of shutting it off. You also have to blow up a helicopter and infiltrate the bunker again. Why? I dunno. :P
AS you try to break into the bunker, you’re captured! You’re so dumb, aren’t you? Here is where we’re introduced to the Throwing Knives that make you feel like an epic ninja whenever you use them :P. We are also introduced to Natalya, your cellmate once you start the level. To break out of the cell, you use your epic watch to retrieve a key on the wall and then karate chop the guard to death (retarded guards are retarded). All you gotta do is retrieve some files and your old equipment(if you can) and gtfo. This can be a tough level due to the fricking respawning guards, but you’ll make it out eventually with Natalya.
After that level, we’re thrust into Statue Park, which is level pretty much dedicated to telling us what really happened to 006. IT’s a pretty creepy level with strange music, Meet with Valentin, the fatboi, then make your way to the end of the park where we’ll meet Janus, a bad guy apparently. Turns out 006 IS Janus, and he faked his death under Ouromov, who happens to be a backstabbing douche. It is there where he leaves you to his shotgun wielding henchmen. Get rid of them and take their shotguns, which are really frickin powerful, and make your way to the end of the level, where you find your girlfriends left under a helicopter ready to blow. Rescue her please. :P As you’re getting the flight recorder, she is captured, and you’re forced to admit defeat to save her.
Now we’re in the Archives, where we’re being questioned about crap no one cares about. You say that gun on the desk? Pick it up and kill the guys in the room with you (useless guards are once again useless) Get through the Archives and find Natalya, rescue her, and escape the building via window. Simple and mostly easy. :P
Now we’re in the streets. We’re right outside the Archives, and Natalya was somehow caught in the 5 seconds between levels. :P Get on the tank and march your way through the Streets, avoiding civilians and dodging enemy fire. AT the end of the level, you walk away like a badass, and cars behind you randomly explode for no reason! YAY!!!!!!
Anyways, now we’re at the Depot, one of my favorite levels mainly for its music. Here we simply need to locate the train Natalya is on and get on it, but other missions you do on other difficulties include retrieving some data and blowing up some computer stuff. While doing that, you will meet “The Turret.” All I will say is this, “Fear the turret for it mocks you.” Great level, great music, lettuce move on.
And now we’re on the Train, a completely linear level. Most of it isn’t bad, just shooting bad guy after bad guy, until you reach the very last room with Ouromov holding Natalya at gunpoint and Xenia and 006(Alec Trevelyan is his real name :P) mocking you. Kill Ouroov, and the other two will escape and set off a timed bomb on the train, which has came to a halt. As Natalya gathers info on Alec’s other secret base, you must use your epic watch to open up a passage and escape before the train explodes. The last part of this mission is a little difficult, but it’s passable. :P
Afterwards, we find out Alec’s base is in Cuba, and we land in the Jungle, with Natalya at our side actually assisting us with her own gun. This level is pretty linear as well. In the middle of it we face Xenia, equipped with a Grenade Launcher and an RCP-900, a deadly combo. Just keep pumping bullets into her till she dies, then move on. This level can be a challenge mainly because the enemies tend to blend into the background, at least in the first half of the mission. And the final room has a lot of respawning enemies, but make your way to the elevator and you’ll be good.
Onwards to one of the hardest levels in the game, the Control Center. Why? Natalya. Our main mission is to figure out his plan through her hacking skills, and to blow up some more hi-tech stuff. :P But we have to protect Natalya as she hacks into the database while guards come down to try to kill her, and on the harder difficulties, this is BRUTAL. The one good part of this level is that we get to hear Boris shot boastful claims of invincibility as he runs and slowly fades away (seriously). Just make sure you’re eyes are wide awake, and head to the elevator once you complete your objectives.
Now we’re in the Caverns, which is a breather level from the Control Center. Just don’t kill any scientists, and be sure to blow up crates to find the RCP-900 so you can breeze straight through this level. Near the end, you’ll find Trevelyan escaping up an elevator. And you must follow him. :P
Final normal level of the game, the Cradle. Your objective is to shut down the Cradle’s antenna, then go after Trevelyan and kill him. Problem is, this level has TOUGH enemies usually wielding twin uzis. Oh, and they infinitely respawn from like everywhere, so have fun with that. Believe me, this is REALLY frustrating. After shutting down the antenna and chasing Trevelyan around the Cradle for a bit, he runs down to the bottom of the cradle onto a really small platform. AS soon as you land, shoot the hell out of him till you knock him off the platform. Trevelyan falls to his death, and you escape on a helicopter piloted by Natalya (she escaped after the Control Center level).
After that, your treated to the credits as Bond and Natalya make out in the jungle. Hurrah! Now, onto the two bonus levels.
Aztec is a level you get after beating all the other levels on Secret Agent Mode. This is the hardest mission in the game, mainly because of turret placement, enemies that are REALLY powerful, and the sub-boss. Oh, and a lack of body armor. All you need to do is get a key card to get to a room where you get an item needed to initiate the rocket launch. After that, you launch the rocket. But to get that keycard, you have to face Jaws. HE’s really frickin tall, has quite a bit of health, and has dual assault rifles. Try this level for yourself, it’s frustrating as all heck.
Last is the Egyptian Temple, which you get for beating all the other levels on 00 Agent mode. This level is really easy. Shoot down baddies and get to a room with the Golden Gun, but you must walk on the tiles in a certain pattern in order to open the bulletproof glass covering it, or you’ll set off some security, and you basically fail the mission. After that, Baron Samedi, some sorcerer, starts appearing at certain points of the level. Whip out that Golden Gun (1-Shot Kill Gun) and shoot him wherever he appears. AS you exit the temple, you find out that Baron can’t die as he laughs at your failure (which Bond knows nothing about :P)
Onto the scores.
THE SCORES
Graphics – 7
Honestly, these graphics don’t look very good, mainly for trying to represent actual humans. But hey, don’t let that ruin the experience.
Sound – 10
The soundtrack is incredible. One of the best soundtracks ever.
Addictiveness – 8
IF Story Mode doesn’t get you addicted, then it’s the multiplayer. One of the best multiplayer experiences ever, if I do say so myself.
Story – 8
It follows the same plot of the movie it’s based on, which is one of the best Bond movies out there, by the way. The movies story is good, therefore, the game's story is good to, although it doesn't explain it as well as the movie.
Depth – 6
You can go out looking for hidden weapons in levels if you want, but there really isn’t much to do outside the main game aside from multiplayer.
Difficulty – 7
This game can be either a breeze or an absolute pain, depending on what difficulty you’re playing on. Control Center, Cradle, and Aztec. -_-
Overall 9.2
One of the best games ever created. I could play this every day and not get bored with it.
Thanks for reading. I really recommend that you try this game, it's well worth your time.

Goldeneye64   RapidFox
Goldeneye 007 is based on the movie by the same title. single player...you against the computer where you must complete numerous objectives to advance from one stage to another and fill up your passport of levels recorded by the difficulty.
The single player mode will keep you busy for hours, but the multi-player mode is what makes this game so awesome. Me and 3 friends back then used to spend hundereds of hours shooting and blowing the crap out of each other. i remember the time the four of us played on the bunker level with infinate ammo and yes...you guessed it...proximity mines (alot of proximity mines) so many in fact we spent hours just hunting them down as we moved in on each other with a pistol to hand. it got better thou, it got to a point that whenever we spawned our man veg got blown half way across the room before you even realised what happened and this was all too much for one friend in particular who decided to rip his 64 from the cables and launch it out the window and smashing his dads windowscreen. its them sound memories which did it for me!! There is a wide assortment of weapons to choose from and environments to fight in.
The battles can accommodate up to four players. The screen divides into two or four sections. This makes the field of view a little hard on the eyes, but i used a massive tv.
The graphics were the nuts in 1997 and the sound efffects were the best for shoot em'ups @ the time. but what I remember most are some of the AI features. Enemies would react to you in a variety of ways, most notably, they would hop on one leg if you shot them in the foot or stumble around dumbfounded if you shot their hat off their head OR shoot them in the man beans...many many times (never got boring). Furthermore, you could zoom in using a scope on your sniper rifle, taking out enemies from vast distances. That was the first first-person shooter that I saw with such a feature.
Every hardcore veteran remembers the time and pain of getting those two achivements INFINATE HEALTH and INVISABILITY. my god how many hours of my life did i spend trying to get those but heck that was all part of the fun.
There was a wide assortment of weapons, old, modern and sci-fi, exactly what you would expect from a 007 game. There were many cheats that could be unlocked by earning certain achievements in single player mode, such as infinite ammo and all weapons and the two hardest ones mentioned earlier.
To me goldeneye64 is the reason i love and play games like halo or cod, halo more so because i'm such a halo freak and devote most of my time to killing as many noob halo clans that call themselves names like xxxxsniperforeverxxx and xxiteabagyourmumxx.
In essence i know when i play a great game like goldeneye because i would rather stick it on for the day than eat,sleep,piss or acknoledge my girlfriend is even alive in the same room.
[salutes boxed game on table] !!!

Goldeneye 007 Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 9.5
Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64 was one of the most popular games for the Nintendo 64.  It was a game that everyone got involved in and was fun to play with friends.  I really loved this game and I definitely loved the movie Goldeneye 007.  This game was fun for story mode and multiplayer mode.  There is a remake for this game on the Wii and I think that it is interesting.  It is much like Call of Duty now and it is not bad of a game.  But this game is fun and I guarantee you that this game is worth trying.
Graphics - 8
The graphics are horrible as of this year.  When it came out, it was good graphics.  It is slightly bad, but it still worked for others to play.  The effects were good too.
Sound - 8
The sound for this game was not too bad.  It may have some of the same sound effects, but it really was interesting on the conversations and the music.
Addictiveness - 9
Like I said, this game was a lot of fun back in the old days.  Especially playing in multiplayer with your friends.  To me, it was like a never ending game till Call of Duty started to get popular.
Story - 9
Most of this was in the movie.  It is hard to explain, but once you start playing the story mode, it makes sense.
Depth - 8
This game has a lot to offer.  For instance, you can put cheats in this game that can allow you to do different kinds of things like infinite ammo, infinite life, etc.  Also, you can play different kinds of games in multiplayer like One Shot Kill or Team Deathmatch or any other kinds of fun games.  Another thing in multiplayer is that you can change what types of weapons you want in the game and choose any characters that were involved in the story mode.  There is a lot going on in multiplayer than in story mode because in story mode, it is just playing by yourself and in multiplayer, you can play with your friends and just have fun with the different types of games and make your own kind of game.  As for story mode, you can choose which difficulty you want for each level, and the harder the difficulty, the more missions you have to do.  Other than that, everything else is good.
Difficulty - 5
The game is not that hard to play or beat.  It takes on getting used to with the controls nowadays.  What is really difficult is the story mode because sometimes you have to hide and sometimes you have to just kill a lot of people.  It is not entirely like Call of Duty.  As for the multiplayer, it depends if you are better than your friends.  Other than that, everything else seems to be understandable.
Wrap Things Up...
Goldeneye 007 is an amazing game to play on the Nintendo 64.  I highly recommend trying this game out if you have not already.  It is a lot of fun, especially for the multiplayer.  If you actually own this game, you know what I mean back in the old days playing with your friends. :)

A shooter worth playing.   Mega Mewtwo X
~~~~Mega Mewtwo X’s Review of Goldeneye 007~~~~
Hi guys! Would you believe I don’t like modern shooters? I don’t know…..I just don’t like them. (Maybe the cod “fanbase”.) But retro shooters? HELLZ TO THE YUS! I luv retro shooters. Once again, don’t know why. But I think it’s time to give one of my favorite retro shooters some praise. Can you guess? (Well I don’t think u need to…….it’s kinda in the title.) Yup! It’s Goldeneye 007! Goldeneye 007 was made for the N64 on August 8th, 1997 by Rare. (Aka: the n64’s MASTER) the game was made by a lot of newcomers into the game-making business but that really didn’t mean a thing in the long run. Now that that’s out of the way, it’s time to get started! *plays Mario recoding* “Let’s-a go!”
Story (5): The story is too cliche. I could leave it at that and go on to the next part, but that’s not fun. The story is that one of 007’s allies, 006, (aka: Alec Trevelyan) backstabs 007 and tries to use a giant satellite called the goldeneye to blast the world to bits. 007 stops him, and the world can go on with its wars and tax raises. But once again, and let’s all say it together now, IT’S TOO. DAMN. CLICHE. One huge problem with this is that the story in every 007 is kinda the same. They don’t all have to deal with the goldeneye, but it’s usually about someone trying to blow up the world, or take over it, or something I’m too lazy to mention. And as a result, it really bogs the story down for me. So I think the story will get a 5. For being too cliche and never changing it up.
Graphics (9):
The graphics look impeccable for an N64 game. Everything looks polished, and then some. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes things can just get all screwed up, (infamous spaz cartridge glitch. )but everything runs at the smooth fps it should run at. Oh, and the explosions. Everything you shoot in this game explodes as if the game developers poured gasoline onto everything. One of the things that I have to get a little mad at Goldeneye 007 for is that there’s barely any blood. I mean, blood isn’t the MAIN thing when it comes to the graphics, but still. When you shoot someone in the game, rather than have blood come out of them or even a squirt of blood, you’ll see a reddish tint where you shot them, signifying blood. But that’s it. Not even when you can run them over in a tank (yes, there is a tank in the game, but only in about two levels) do you see any blood, which seems surreal. But for the most part, the graphics are very polished and look like blood, sweat, and tears was put into them, so I will give graphics a 9.
Sound (10):
The sound is awesome! First up, the sound effects are very realistic. (As far as the N64 goes.) If you shoot someone, it depends on the gun that you shot them with. A laser has a sci-fi sound effect, while a silenced pp7 sounds very quiet, and sneaky. When riding a tank, you can hear the tank move along the level, when you shoot something; you get a different sound effect depending on what you shot. (Crate = wooden-ish sound effect, Metal = bangs and dings and ricochet sound effects.) But notice I haven’t even talked about the SOUNDTRACK. Dear. GOD! I love the soundtrack. Some tracks are remix’s from the movie itself, but that really doesn’t mean much to me. My favorite track, however, would have to be the final track, where you have to “Settle the score with Trevelyan” (or……kill him…..for a blunter term.) Where it gets very upbeat and throws in part of the Goldeneye main theme for good measure. I can’t think of one problem with the themes, with the exception of one or two being mediocre. So I will give sound a 10. For having a stellar soundtrack all the way though.
Depth (7):
The depth in this game is iffy. Thereal game doesn’t have much depth in it, but the game has depth in the form of unlocking the cheats. If you beat a mission on a certain difficulty level under a certain period of time, you unlock a cheat. The cheats range from ones as pointless but funny as DK mode to all guns! (Yup, every single gun at your hands.) But that’s about it for depth, and I suppose you can go for 007 mode, which is only useable if you beat every mission on 00 Agent difficulty. But after that……what is there? Multiplayer? I suppose…..but you’ll get bored of that soon enough. And that’s everything in Goldeneye, nothing else. So I have to award depth a 7. For just not having a lot to explore.
Addictiveness (7):
The game really isn’t that addicting. Addictiveness and depth kind of go hand-in-hand with this. So when you don’t have a lot of depth, you won’t have a lot of addictiveness. That’s not to say it doesn’t have its addicting points though. You can set personal challenges to beat, try to find exciting ways to kill enemies with cheats, and then some. But notice how I said PERSONAL. The game itself doesn’t offer a lot of addictiveness from the game. It just has the tools for you to make your own challenges. And for that, it kind of suffers. One thing a game should always try to do is make the player come back for more, something that Goldeneye just falls short of. Once you collect everything, what purpose is there to play the game again? Maybe your own reasons, but ignoring personal reasons there really isn’t much of a reason to keep playing once you have everything. So addictiveness gets a 7. For suffering due to a lack of depth.
Difficulty (9):
The game gets very irritating at a lot of points. Mainly when trying to go for a cheat or trying to beat a mission on a higher difficulty setting. Non-stop barrages of enemies get very annoying. (Especially on 00 agent, where there is no body armor to help you.) Some missions make you deal with objectives that aren’t too hard, but enemies get in the way too many times for you to accomplish the task at hand. A GREAT example would be the final mission itself. Where when you try to defeat Trevelyan, he keeps summoning his minions to dispatch you. Too many of them keep flying at you, and it becomes damn near impossible to find Alec. And don’t get me started on the drone guns. In certain levels you can find drone guns on the ceilings. They aren’t out in the open, but they usually are placed where you need to go, and can cause a miserable time for poor old James. They fire non-stop and knock you back every time they hit, making it hard to aim at them since Goldeneye’s lock-on system also locks your movement while you aim. I would make a comment or two about the Aztec, but I never got to it, so I can’t unfortunately. However, the game can respect what you can do as a gamer on the Agent and sometimes Secret Agent difficulties, barely missing a 10 in difficulty. But still, difficulty gets a 9. For several times that made me want to crack my controller in two.
Overall (9.7):
Taking into account its grueling difficulty, its lack of depth or addictiveness, and other crap, I LOVE this game. It was one of the only shooters that I do not mind popping in every now and then to play. The story is cliche yes, but it really doesn’t bog down the graphics, the sound, or a lot of anything else really. A lot of the negatives are outweighed by the positives. So in conclusion, for a stellar soundtrack, good graphics, and many, many other things, this game gets a 9.7 out of 10. The game was awesome back then. (I would think.) And it’s awesome today. GoldenEye 007...more like rusty eye   Scohui
This game was one of most popular games on the N64. The fact that you could play as James Bond and go around doing secret missions (but I would say “go around shooting people up” because that’s basically what it is) was a pretty big deal back in the day. Nowadays, that’s pretty lame because every other game lets you shoot stuff someway.  Sure, not every other game contains James Bond. But can you say “I’m Bond, James Bond” to anyone in this game? No? Then being James Bond or Jack McOrdinary Guy has pretty much the same impact. But that’s for today, though, so I’ll try to look at it with a more 1997 perspective.
The graphics are not too bad; they remind me of PS1 graphics. Most of the time everything is smooth except when aiming with the sniper rifle, for some reason everything gets a bit choppy.
The sound effects are the same throughout the game, and the “missed bullet” sound effect gives you that feeling that “Yes, this game is old.” The music as that whole covert ops style, but if you start backtracking like I did (right in the 1st level, because I didn’t read the mission) you are going to notice that the music is kind of annoying. The solution to this is to not backtrack.
In the past, kids, and I guess other people too, would be like “Holy s[ugar] I’mma play this game my whole life” because not only shooting games are fun, you can try to beat  all levels in all difficulties, and there is always the multiplayer mode, with all the multiplayer game modes you’d expect (no co-op though). But now you notice the game is kind of dull, not really worth the replay because you already how it will all go. It’s like telling you the same joke over and over; it’s not fun anymore.
It wouldn’t be called Story Mode if it didn’t have story in it, am I right? I don’t remember the movie so I’m not going to say whether it follows it or not. But there is like 4 mission backgrounds telling what’s going on (but I think that HoneyPiggy branch or whatever is pretty unnecessary) and it all sounds like something James Bond would be doing. I haven’t played the whole game through, but I’m going to hope everything is connected.
In depth, I’d say it’s pretty satisfactory. The multiplayer allows many changes like the level, mode, time, characters, weapons, and all that good stuff. There is a reasonable amount of weapons in the game (I’ve seen 9 but I know there are more). Like I said, the story mode has 3 different difficulties, which add more objectives to all the 20 levels in the game, and I think the enemy weapons do more damage. It’s only missing co-op.
I’d say the controls are a bit tough, although this probably wasn’t the case back then. Instead of having one analog to move around, and the other to aim around, both analogs share both tasks. In my opinion, I’d say it’s easier to play on the keyboard then an USB controller, but then again it’s my opinion. And the enemies are not much of a challenge if you are paying attention, they only actually hit you after a certain time or if they are right on top of you.
In conclusion, I’d say the game was pretty good, but it’s starting to expire, and I hope playing expired games doesn’t give you diarrhea.
(Note: This review was supposed to come with a video review, but since I wasn't getting anything done with that, I'm just gonna take that part out. Maybe next time.)
Goldeneye   darthyoda
The graphics are pretty close to the actual game, except for the mission on the boat. 9
The sound is often really slow, and this also slows the game down. 4
Even though the sound isn't very good; the game is pretty addictive. It took me a while to beat the game, but I couldn't "set the controller down." 10
The story is pretty good, and it is also packed full of action!
The game has many options, difficulty cheats... So it had pretty good depth. 10
The game is pretty difficult, especially the train and the satellite! 8
Over all the game is pretty good, I would recommend this game to any player that has time to play this! 10
GREAT game!   noahd101
goldeneye 007 for the nintendo 64 was an astounding game. simply ASTOUNDING.
                                                            GRAPHICS 4.0
                                                            while goldeneye was an awesome game, it had some pretty bad graphics. having the game today made me realize that. while it might have had AWESOME graphics at the time, it is pretty bad today.
SOUND 9.0
                                                                     goldeneye had some pretty good sound compared to other games on the system. the gunshots and the music were GOOD even though today it is pretty crappy.
                                                                      ADDICTIVENESS 10.0
                                                                       SO addicting. i could play this over and over again. and plus it has so much to bring because it has a multiplayer mode with lots of modes therein. VERY ADDICTING!
                                                                        STORY 10.0
                                                                         simply GREAT story. great. such a fun game to play ever because of its story. SO many plot twists and more!
                                                                           DEPTH 7.0
                                                                            not the game with the most depth. it only has 20 missions. but what it lacks in depth, it makes up in fun.
                                                                            DIFFICULTY 10.0
                                                                              SUCH a hard game! it gets so hard later on that it is incomprehensible!  an INSANELY hard game. alot of stealth is needed therein that you might as well be prepared to stay up all night beating it.
                                                                           OVERALL 10.0
                                                                            an AWESOME game to play overall. it has so many weapons and devices that back then, it was the holy grail of fps. goldeneye 007 was a relic in gaming AND ALWAYS WILL BE! so take some money, buy a n64 and this and PLAY,PLAY,PLAY!
noahs_brother's goldeneye 007 review   drivethemfromou..
Well now, time for another review, is it? Today I will be reviewing Goldenberg 007 on the Nintendo 64. What can I say about this game that has not ever been said? Stick with me, and we will see.
Graphics: 8/10 the graphics are horrible nowadays, but back in the nineties, these graphics were cutting edge. They had effects, explosions, guns, "stunning realism" lol. But yeah, graphics are great for the time, and I think these kinds of mid gen graphics where quite cool, lol.
Sound: 7/10 the sound in this game is not that great today. It is okay, but back then it was great. Back then it.was "real" but now it just sounds really cheesy. A silenced pistol DOES NOT sound like that! But back then it was great. It was only due to the hardware limitations at the time.
Addictiveness: 8/10 even though this game is very hard, it is so good that you keep coming back for more punishment. As I owned this game and a Nintendo 64, I was an avid player of this game. This, and banjo-kazooie. There is just this charm about this gem that makes it so fun.
Story: 9/10 the story is where this game shines. Basically, you do this.mission with your partner Alex, and he dies! And the later on you go to meet with this manage called janus, only to find out Alex is janus! And then you get unjustly arrested, and have to escape! And later on, you find out Alex is gonna destroy the world with the satellite called goldeneye! So you go to the antenna cradle, and almost die! But you kill Alex in the end. The story really adds so much to this wonderful gem of a game.
Depth: 8/10 this game has a lot to do in it. It encourages you to punish yourself on higher difficulties, to unlock more levels, and cheats! Some of the cheats in this game are very wacky, like the DK mode cheat, which turns them all to look like donkey Kong! And then there is a Magnus one, and a golden gun one, and an unlimited ammunition cheats! And I am barely scratching the surface. You can play multiplayer, where there is a hella lot of characters to unlock and play as! Remember, ODDJOB IS STILL BANNED! And all the zany game modes, like the man with the golden gun, where one of you gets a golden gun, and the others must team up (or fight each other too lol) to kill the man with the golden gun, which kills in one shot! I love playing this game with friends!
Difficulty: 10/10 this game is VERY difficult. There are so many people you have to kill on screen at once, and so limited bullets, that it will be hard. Even on "agent" difficulty it is insanely hard. And as you turn up the difficulty, you must do more objectives, like bugging the maintenance system, that kind of crap. And the enemies are more accurate, hit harder, etc. This game is nowhere near easy. This game is the stuff of legends. I doubt anyone here has beat the jaws level on 00 agent.
Overall: 8.9/10 I highly recommend picking up this game, as it is a modern masterpiece. I hope my review has persuaded you to purchase the wonderful gem.
And that is my review. Get out of here.
Goldeneye 007 Review   mgharper94
What can I say? It's the original Goldeneye 007 for N64! Now I like this version because of its gameplay and multiplayer but let's see how I review this game. The graphics can't be picture perfect but I like the way it looks overall, Rare did a really good job putting this game together! The sound is great, some has it to where you hear grunts and all the good stuff from movies. Not gonna lie, when I was waiting for someone to join one of my multiplayer netplay session I was playing single player and got myself carried away, that's how addicting this game can get. There really isn't a story mentioned in it except of that from the movie. The depth of the game has a lot of missions and an incredible multiplayer to top it all off. The difficulty is ok, but you just gotta wait till later missions for it to get harder. Overall I really enjoyed this game even when on netplay, the multiplayer is what really gets me hooked so, if you're looking for a good multiplayer game to play with friends and can't stand netplay lag then this game is for you! (note: best played with friends and not netplay) Until next time guys. -mgharper94
Awesome,just plain awesome   Andrew Gonzalez
This game and Perfect Dark are probably the best N64 games I've ever played along with Smash Brother.
if they still made games like this now but with crisper and smoother graphics, the I'd give that 2 thumbs-up.
Although the game is very good, I still have the problem of the game being a little slower than the Golden eye 007 I have on my pc.
But to be honest overall I think that this would be a game that you could bring your friends along and have a great time even if you tend to win or lose a match.
The best shooter on Nintendo 64, I have the game cartridge and I play ton of hours!
The game shows different locations from the movie and the music is the same...
...immerising yourself in the world of 007 and enjoying the game both solo and multiplayer.
You need play this game, is a imperdible game for N64.
A license to Kill   huntra1291
   So like a lot of people I grew up on the Bond films. Probably one of my favorite ones is Golden Eye. To me Pierce Bronson as one of the best Bonds out there (next to Daniel Craig). Anyway I am here to talk about the Golden Eye game and not the movie that its tied to. Now prior to me writing this review I did not play the version on here. In fact I actually pulled out and play the copy I had for over 10 years. So how well does the game hold up after more then 10 years? Does it still hold its fun factor? Is it still worth your time to play? Well I will answer those questions and more in my review.
   So published and developed in 1997 by Rare is Golden Eye. The game based on the movie of the same name that was released to world wide critical acclaim back in 1995. The game was released exclusively for Nintendo's newest console the N64. Back when I first got my copy I was blown away at how well a game based on a movie at that time was 2 years old had the feel of its source material. So doe it still hold up today? Well lets find out in my review for Golden Eye: 007.
   Difficulty 5: The difficulty and be either as hard or easy as you make it. The controls are very tight and responsive. They aren't that hard to learn.
   Depth 5: The game doesn't really have a lot of depth to it. The stages are just major areas taken from the movie. Really that's it. Just scenes taken from the movie and made in to playable stages.
Story 3: To sum up the story all it is, is just like with every Bond film including Golden Eye. Is Bond goes on a mission to save the world from being taken over by some evil villain. That's all there is to it.
   Addictiveness  3: Now a days the game is not all that addicting. What was addicting back in 1997 including its 4 player local co op sadly does not hold on today. While at certain points the game can be fun, its fun to be had in short bursts.
   Sound 9: The sound still holds up very well almost 2 decades later. Music like the very famous Bound Theme sounds amazing in the games as it does in the films.
   Graphics 3: What may have looked great in 1997 does not hold up today. Granted the N64  is 20 years old. But games like Super Mario 64 and Star Fox 64 among others hold up a lot better then Golden Eye graphically.
   Overall 4.6: If you couldn't have guessed the game does not hold up well at all. What once looked and played great back in 1997 does hold up to the same standards in 2015. Do I recommend this game? Yes and no. Yes if your like me and a fan on Bond films. No if your a fan of shooters from a long gone era in gaming as there are better retro ones out there.
