Donkey Kong Review Zircron Swift
Donkey Kong Jr is a sequel to the original Donkey Kong. Likebefore, there were arcade versions of the game, but there was also a port forthe NES. And here it is. Having never played this game before, I don't knowmuch about it. So I'll play it now and we'll see what it has to offer. So getyour....um....lets just jump in, shall we?
So the story is that you are Donkey Kong Jr, and you must save your father Donkey Kong from....Mario? He was refereed to as "Jumpman" in the first game, so it's interesting that they call him Mario in this game. But he's normally the good guy. Why would he trap Donkey Kong like that? So in this game, Mario is "evil"? What a twist. What next, Browser doing charity work? So you need to save Donkey Kong from Mario as he has caged him up. So you must go through four levels (which is one more than the last game) to save him. How do you do this? Simple, you climb up vines and poles that are conveniently placed there. It's funny how villains always seem to place something convenient when they want to keep the hero away. You can climb up just one vine or pole, or you can grab a second one to go up faster. Just grabing one vine or pole makes you go down faster.
But be careful, there are blue and red crocodiles trying to nom nom (^^) you up. They can travel up and down poles and vines as well. So you must maneuver so they don't get you. You can also get fruit by touching it, which falls down and gives you some points. There are Bananas, which seems reasonable, and apples. No other fruit? No pears or grapes or Cherries? *shrugs* If you let fruit hit an enemy, then it gets killed. Also, this guy is just a little pathetic. Just like in the first game, if you fall too high, you die. Even if the distance seems just right. He also dies if enemies touch him, or if an egg touches him. An egg.....really? That counts as death? What happens? Is he lactose intolerant?
Just get to the vine with the shield thing with a key on and you have completed the level. The difficulty in levels gets much harder as you go across them. Much harder than Donkey Kong. The second level is murder, and is probably the hardest level there. There are birds, Sparks (accrual name) and other Sparks with different colours. Jumping over an enemy gives you some points, which is nice. You get a different type of jingle when you complete a different level. That's the only music you really get in the game. The background music is very unremembered and boring. But the sound effects are good just like the first game.
There are two types of game play. Game A and Game B. Game A is your basic gameplay. Nothing new here. Game B is basically increased difficulty. You can get this if you complete the game once anyway, but this can be good if you want to start the game harder than normal. There are some handy things that only appear in the second level, and I felt they could have used it again in the third level, or at least in Game B mode, for added difficulty. The last level is not all that bad, and requires quick thinking in order to complete it. You have to push all the keys into the slots to free Donkey Kong and defeat that evil Mario. Still sounds odd saying that. The difficulty of it has the rare position that makes it seem impossible to complete the level, but at the same time it seems really easy to complete. So if your good at Donkey Kong, you'll be good at this.
Overall, I give this game a 8.8/10 The graphics might be simple, and the music seems limited, but of what is there is good for a game like this. The background music might have been better as it seems shrouded with all the sound effects that are being produced. The game play itself is simple but effective. Made a little more complex than the first one, I would play this game over Donkey Kong any day, not that the first one was bad or anything. So If you liked Donkey Kong, this is a must play. If you haven't played Donkey Kong yet, I would advise that you play the first one first before you play this one. Enjoy!

Mario goes to the DARK SIDE PixelBrick
Welcome to my review of Donkey Kong Jr. I just decided to review this game for the heck o' it, so let's do this:
In the 80's the Donkey Kong games were known as the best arcade classics. Now, we're gonna dig deep into an early Nintendo game. We all know about the original Donkey Kong, which was known by millions. So, does Donkey Kong Jr. come close to the standards of the original Donkey Kong? Let's find out!
Story: 4/10
The story is flipped, but honestly it still doesn't change anything. In this game Mario is actually the villain himself. The story is about Mario kidnapping Donkey Kong (Revenge, bro). Donkey Kong's son embarks to rescue his father from the clutches of the apparently evil Mario. This is the first Mario game where Mario is actually the villain, which a lot of people were probably surprised about. I'm guessing Nintendo tried to add a twist to the already monotonous plot line, but when you think about it, they changed literally nothing, so that's why I gave this category such a short rating.
Depth: 2/10
This game honestly offers next to nothing. There's three levels which like the original Donkey Kong, you can play endlessly to get a high score, assuming you even want to try. There's a few items to score extra points, but there's only three levels and that's about all this game offers in depth. There's the original 2-player mode, which you don't even play simultaneously, so compared to it's predecessor, it adds nothing new to the curve.
Difficulty: 3/10
This installment is about as difficult as it's predecessor. In other words, it's incredibly easy. If you're looking for a challenging arcade game, this game isn't exactly for you. Not only is there only three levels, but the enemies are easy to dodge, plus the level design is super linear, like the original of the series.
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are pretty good for the standards of the year the game was released. It gives you that classic 80's arcade vibe, and I appreciate games like this. The graphics certainly approve from the first installment, and the graphics are decent enough. The sprites are well done, and that's about all I can really say about this category
Sound: 7/10
I think we can all agree that the Donkey Kong games has decent sound. The music is really standard. Nothing much to say about it, because of the soundtrack being really limited. The sound effects are actually pretty good, and guys like me really enjoy hearing nostalgic sound effects of 80's arcade games, so I really appreciate the sound of this game
Addictiveness: 7/10
This is the best part about the game. Donkey Kong is a very addicting game, but it's only at times when you're bored and in the mood for a really easy arcade game. Donkey Kong Jr however, ramps up the addictiveness by a lot. This game is possibly the most addicting in the series. I just think vine climbing is more addictive than ladder climbing :P
Overall: 5/10
Donkey Kong isn't really an arcade game I'd recommend. It's okay, but not exactly something to enjoy for a long time. This game is maybe worth a rental for the night, but nothing really more than that. This game doesn't offer much, but it is pretty fun trying to get a high score, I must admit, but...that's about it. I can't really say much about this game. It's Donkey Kong, and I don't know why I was requested so many times to review this. Overall, Donkey Kong Jr. isn't the best arcade game in my opinion. Sorry, Donkey Kong fans!

Donkey Kong Jr. Review Marcmoney
Overall - 9
Donkey Kong Jr on the NES is a fun, classical game to play. When I played this, I really enjoyed it because it was more of a strategic game and it was a Donkey Kong game, obviously. This game was very popular back then and they made a math game out of this. I have not played it, but I am sure that it is to learn math for elementary kids and that is cool to do that. This game is still fun on this very day and I guarantee that it is so much fun to play.
Graphics - 9
The graphics are very good. It is similar to the original Donkey Kong game on the NES. The effects are good too. When you are swinging on vines and avoiding enemies, it just beings the awesomeness into the game.
Sound - 8
The sound is okay. I rather have a music background in it, but apparently not. The sound effects, however, is great. The way you move sounds so funny, but is what it is in other games on the NES. The hearing you jumping and getting points by jumping over enemies is a good feeling of hearing when you are playing the game.
Addictiveness - 8
I would play this often because it is so fun and it does not get old for me. It is a never-ending game and I think that playing it some of the time is a good way to seeing that you would actually like it.
Story - N/A
There is no story in this game, but there is a description about the game. Donkey Kong is kidnapped by Mario and it is up to Donkey Kong Jr to go and save him. That is basically the point of the game and what a great way to change things up comparing Donkey Kong on the NES.
Depth - 6
The game does not have much to offer. There is little in the game since it is an NES game. What it has is that you can climb on vines and you can jump over enemies (obviously). Unlike the first one, this game has four levels. It would start over after you beat the fourth level, but it would get harder for every time you beat the fourth level.
Difficulty - 5
The game is not that hard, but controlling Donkey Kong Jr can be a little difficult. For instance, when you climb on one vine, you move slow, but if you climb down on one vine, you go fast. If you climb on two vines, you go fast, but if you climb down on two vines, you go slow. I have no problem with that, but I just want to beat the game faster and it takes time to rotate on each vine. the enemies are pretty much easy if you play "A" instead of "B."
Wrap Things Up...
Donkey Kong Jr is very fun to play and it can be some times fun to play with friends on beating their high scores. I highly recommend trying this game out if you have not already. It is a great game to play, especially if you are bored. :)
