More fun than a barrel of Kongs   Uzar
Here here here we go. So I'm finally here, reviewing for you. And if you know the language you can read it too. Put your hands together if you want to clap, as I butcher  up this monkey rap. HUH!
Donkey Kong 64 has been one of my favorite games. It's fantastic! It is one of those games based mostly around collecting various objects scattered throughout levels, but it's fun while being that. It makes the game feel like a large scale adventure. It stands as one of Rareware's final masterpieces.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics are pretty good for the N64. It required the expansion pack, so the graphics are already above average. The Kongs look great, the enemies look slightly better, and the levels...The levels are astounding! Everything in the levels look astounding! The grass, water, rock, tile, lava, green...lava? Acid? I don't know what it is. But it all looks great! Although the collectables leave more to be desired. They are 2D sprites, mostly with good amounts of detail. The Banana Coins for instance have a pretty good amount of detail put into them. They're ridged, and are kind of dented. They look great. But, then the bananas look more like they're made on MS Paint. They are just solid colored, nothing really special to them.
Addictiveness: 8/10
It really depends on how much you like the exploration/collecting genre of games. But I loved this game! I've played it 4 times through now. It may just be nostalgia, but, it's a very fun game. It's at least worth a shot.
Sound: 10/10
This game has GREAT sound! The background music for all the levels are both catchy and beautiful. From DK Isles, to Creepy Castle, you'll find a very nice arrangement of music. And then there's the sound effects. They are pretty high quality for a N64 game as well. The Kong's guns all have different sounds, the enemies have lots of different noises, and all the collectables have unique sounds as well. It's a great sounding game, you can tell just by listening to some of the music that lots of care was put into making it all.
Story: 7/10
King K. Rool has hatched his latest scheme to take over Kong Island. This time, instead of taking a monkey's collection of bananas, he's taking a more...Direct approach. This being his Blast-O-Matic. A giant laser gun mounted on a ship built like K. Rool. And to make matters worse, he's captured Diddy, Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky. With most of the Kongs locked away, nothing can stop him right? Well, as egotistical as he is, he has just as much bad foresight as well. He crashes his ship on a rock near Kong Island. But who can stop this dastardly deed? None other than our favorite necktie wearing ape who somehow avoided capture, Donkey Kong! Squawks the Parrot warns Donkey Kong of what's happened. But He'll need the help of his captured buddies to stop K. Rool. Along with Cranky, his meaningful named grandfather, and aspiring chemist. Funky Kong, a monkey with more weapons than a small army. Candy, who makes musical instruments with such a sweet sound that any nearby reptiles DROP DEAD at their sounds. And Klumsey, a very very large Kremling (K. Rool's minions) hat was locked up for being, well, clumsey. But like the saying goes, "Hades hath no fury like an obese hippopotamic aligator scorned". With their help, Kong Island just may have a chance to survive!
Depth: 10/10
If you want a game with TONS of depth, this game is for you! The overworld, and all the levels, plus the enterences to said levels are all explorable. And chances are; there is something for two or more Kongs to do in each one. This game perfected the very small genre of adventure games based of collection. In each level there is: 500 Bananas (100 for each Kong to collect), 2 hard to find Banana Fairies, Film (For the camera to catch said fairies), Ammo Boxes (For each Kong's gun. The number of ammo can be upgraded), 25 Golden Bananas (5 for each Kong. A total of 201 of these golden beauties are around for you to collect.) Banana Coins (To buy upgrades), and Banana Medals (Collect these for bonus games) Crystal Coconuts (To fuel each Kong's special abilities). That's a whopping number of collectables eh? Well, in reality it isn't as scary as it sounds. But you have to hand it to the developers, this is one deep game.
Difficulty: 7/10
Most of the difficulty lies in collecting everything. The level designs are both complex, yes easy to understand. But if you miss any section, you'll know. But finding where exactly you missed will become a challenge within itself.
The controls are actually pretty simple, but it's easiest using a actual N64 controller so you can see what button is what.
Another thing that I found difficult was the minigames. They range from brain-numbingly easy, to throw your controller across the room hard. If you've ever played the game, you may cower at the mere mention of...Beaver Roundup...Beaver Roundup is a game where you play as a Klap Trap (A tiny crocodile) and the goal is to scare all the beavers into a hole in the center. Only problem is...They just don't go in the hole unless you scare them in JUST RIGHT. Like, only one small part of the hole works each time.
Bonus Stuff~!:
The level Fungi Forest was originally going to be a Banjo Kazooie level. Both the background, and the music for the level are in the game's files.
And on the subject of a series only Jontron likes, the game was most likely going to be connected to Banjo Tooie. There is date in both games for an item called "Ice Key". And Rareware developed both games so...Either that, or the entire game is actually a texture hack of Banjo Tooie, and nobody would have been the wiser, except for a person leaving that single strand of code as the only evidence of a connection between the two...
Lanky has neither style, nor grace.
The later versions of the game, along with Smash Brothers Melee, censored the DK Rap at the beginning of the game. Most people wouldn't be able to tell, but, assuming you're tough enough to listen to the whole thing; the last line of Chunky's section says "But this Kong's one hell of a guy". And, well, in England where Rareware is, that wasn't a problem. But in the US of A, people got offended, and cried. So the later releases of the game said "One heck of a guy". Nothing too big or special, just a nice bit of trivia to fill your brain.
This game is one I won't forget about anytime soon. I had lots of fun with it from start to finish. Sure, there was lots of collecting, and needlessly checking everywhere for everything, but that's most likely part of the experience. This game is a kind that hasn't been made in years, one that's about skill, exploration, and causing harm to reptiles.
Overall: 8.5/10

"Donkey Kong Is Here"-Donkey Kong 64 Review   Nexorla
Donkey Kong 64 is a 3D collect-a-thon platforming game made by the company Rareware. A collect-a-thon game is the type of game in which there are many different objects you have to collect in the course of your adventure. Is it a game that can deliver on what was intended? Well more on that in the review.
Anyway, Donkey Kong was a game that I played in my childhood. I found the Rareware logo on it appealing since I was a Banjo-Kazooie fan and I wanted to play more games of that nature. Did I like it as a child, well yes since it was everything I wanted, another game similar to Banjo. Revisiting it years later does it hold up? And can others enjoy it as well? Well that will be answered in the review as it explores one of Rare’s last masterpieces on a Nintendo console.
Graphics-10/10
The graphics are amazing for an N64 game. Sure the graphics of games on the system don’t look bad, however by today’s standards you can tell that they have aged. Donkey Kong 64 however doesn’t have the same feeling. The graphics are more cartoonish, which to me can hold up better as time goes on than games with more realistic looking graphics. So what makes these graphics so great? Well for a variety of reasons. The models of each characters are smooth, the environments are bright and colorful, and fitting of what the game is trying to convey. They put a lot of detail into each object.
Another aspect of the graphics that I like to touch on are the animations. They are well done and fun to look at. The idle animations especially, if you don’t do anything the character you are playing as do random things. Lanky for instance juggles a bunch of oranges.
So overall the graphics are pleasant to look at, are smooth and highly detailed. Quite possible the best looking N64 game I have seen.
Sound-10/10
From listening to the intro music, you know that the game is going to have a neat soundtrack. I cannot do a review of this specific game and not mention the DK rap. To me it’s a memorable song that’s wacky and extremely fun to listen to. It’s a song I find myself singing even to this day.
In terms of how the music sounds, each piece of music sounds great. I love how the songs fit with the moment of what is going on. If you’re in Cranky’s Lab, a creepy/ominous tune plays, however when you’re in Angry Aztec expect a desert sounding track. Also one thing I’d like to add is that a number of tracks in the OST offer a lot of monkey sounds, which is a nice touch considering the game features a group of monkeys/gorillas, so the sounds fit with the game completely and helps to convey better on just what the game is.
Depth- 10/10
Quite possibly one of the largest games I have played. To 100% it is very time-consuming. There are 201 golden bananas, 10 battle crowns, 20 banana fairies, 40 Banana Medals(which you need to collect 75 little bananas to get even one), 8 Boss Keys, a Nintendo Coin, and Rareware Coin.
Yep. You read that list right. This game is pretty intense with the amount of collectables that you can get. These collectables are what makes this game so massive. It’s a game that you can spend weeks or months, heck even longer if you are having trouble with certain challenges (more on that in the difficulty section). The appeal of this game is in its depth and it is able to satisfy those who love to collect as much as possible in a game.
Story-5/10
King K. Rool wants to blow up DK Isles. The weapon he planned to use against it malfunctions, so of course he has to get it repaired. He ends up kidnapping all of Donkey Kong’s friends as well as taking his banana hoard. So it’s up to Donkey Kong to save his friends and all of his Bananas, all the while trying to help K.Lumsy, who was trapped by K.Rool, since K.Lumsy could help him get to the Blast-O-Matic weapon.
So yeah. That’s the story in a nutshell. Is it good? Not really, it’s about what you’d expect from a game with Nintendo characters. However, this specific game (like all Nintendo related games) doesn’t need a good story. Its appeal is the massive amount that you can do in the game as well as the fun gameplay.
Difficulty- 8/10
Here’s the deal. If you don’t plan on beating this game to 100% completion, you will have a relatively easy time with the game. I say relatively because there is one section in the game that can be extremely difficult. And that section involves playing the retro arcade game Donkey Kong twice to get the Nintendo Coin. This is an extremely difficult task because the game itself is very cheap and difficult, it is pretty much the bane of my existence whenever I feel the need to play this game. The coin is needed as well to even finish the game.
Things get more difficult for those who want to complete this game to completion. As stated this game is intense in terms of how many items that you have to collect. It has so many different collectables that it will take forever to get them. Plus some of the tasks for each one can be in itself difficult. Lastly the final boss can be quite a challenge as well.
Addictiveness-7/10
This is a game that you can just go back to so that you can enjoy the platforming fun. There aren’t branching paths, however the fun you get from playing the game is enough to want to replay it. The platforming is great, the game is charming, the worlds immersive.
What prevents this from being a perfect ten however is the fact that it can be quite difficult. Because you need to do certain tasks to even beat the game, I feel as if that would turn off most people from actually wanting to replay it. Still even though there is a challenge it’s still an addicting game that I found myself spending hours on attempting to collect all there was to collect.
Overall 8.3/10
This game is heaven for those who love collect-a-thon games. There is so much to explore and to collect. Even if fully completing a game is not your forte, you can still enjoy the game. Everything about it is lovely. It’s a game that can hold up today, and one that can be enjoyed by anyone.
It's everything a game should be. It's charming, it's fun, has great environments, everything about it is amazing. It's a game that needs to be experienced to be appreciated so if you get the chance then you should check it out.

OH BANANA   ninjamcgee
Ah Rare-Ware, one of the best video
game companies in the SNES and N64 era. They were constantly putting out good
games, from Banjo-Kazooie to Goldeneye; it was nothing but greatness that came
out of them. But one of the franchises they are most known for is the Donkey
Kong country trilogy on the SNES; they took a simple arcade game and turned it
into an amazing Mario styled platformer. With its success they made 2 more, but
they didn’t stop there. Much like Mario and Zelda, Donkey Kong was brought into
the 3rd dimension on the Nintendo 64 with Donkey Kong 64. DK64
follows the same formula as Banjo-Kazzoie, (which was already following Mario
64) as you will notice it is very similar to Banjo in a lot of ways, but enough
monkey business, (see what I did there? Yea I know that wasn’t funny…) let’s go
right in.
Donkey Kong is back in a bigger and
better adventure; he’s bigger, faster, and stronger too…or at least that’s what
the infamous DK rap that plays when you start the game wants you to believe. He
is no where near as fast as he was in the country games, but he is certainly
bigger! Remember when DK Island was big enough to hold a jungle, forest, temple
ruins, and snowy mountains? Well now DK Island is only as big as a four story
building, but it’s a lot bigger on the inside…wait a second, DK Island is a big
Tardus? That explains how he can go from world to world so easily. But I
digress. This game now has 5 different Kongs to play as, Donkey Kong, the
leader of the Kong Klan making a triumphant return after not being playable in
the last 2 games (seriously you would think in a series called DONKEY Kong
country Donkey Kong would be playable in more than just 1 of them), Diddy Kong,
who was also in the country games, and 3 new Kongs. Unfortunately Dixie Kong is
not in the game but she is replaced by Tiny Kong, who is pretty much the same
as Dixie but with 2 pony tails! The other 2 are Lanky
Kong, whose arms are made of rubber and can stretch out long distances, and
Chunky Kong, the strongest Kong of all.
The story begins with King K. Rool
himself, who is back to being a king instead of a pirate or scientist. K. Rool
has upgraded Crocodile Island
into a war machine, but like DK Island it’s a lot smaller than before. To make
up for its small size, it is now equipped with a new weapon called the
Blast-O-Matic, which the cruel reptile is going to use to destroy DK Island and
rid the world of the flee bitten apes once and for all! But he made one fatal flaw;
the Island is steered by a small crocodile in a hamster
wheel….Why would anyone think that was a good idea…I…never mind, its like
Bowser standing on the bridge with a button that destroys the bridge behind
him. Best not to question it. It’s because of this design flaw (really stupid
one) that the ship crashes into a huge rock, damaging the engines and the
dreaded Blast-O-Matic and delaying his plan. K. Rool quickly switches to plan B
and sends his henchmen to capture DK’s friends and precious golden banana hoard
in hopes that DK himself would be distracted long enough for the Blast-O-Matic
to be repaired. Wait wait wait…so he captures all of the Kongs, EXCEPT Donkey
Kong…even though he captured DK twice before? Anyone else really question K.
Rool’s intelligence? With his friends and golden fruit stolen, DK must hurry to
save them and stop K. Rool’s plan, and this is where the adventure begins.
DK will need all the help he can
get from the other Kongs to beat K. Rool this time, whether they are helping
restore his bananas or giving upgrades, every Kong will need to lend a hand. In
the first few worlds you will need to free the other playable Kongs; once you
free them you can play as them any time you want by switching them out in a tag
barrel. Each Kong plays the same with minor differences in speed and jumping;
some characters have exclusive moves but they rarely come into play. To make up
for the lack of differences are the other Kongs, Cranky Kong, Candy Kong, and
Funky Kong. In each level each of those Kongs has a shop where you can buy
upgrades for the Kongs; Cranky sells potions that gives various skills the
Kongs will need to beat the game. Candy gives you music instruments that when played,
destroys all the enemies. She also gives extra health. Funky Kong no longer a
surfer, is now a weapons dealer; he gives each Kong a fruit powered shooter.
These upgrades add variation to each Kong and you will need all of them if you
even think about getting everything. These upgrades will allow each Kong to go
places the others can’t. The Kongs need to use these in order to get their own
set of color coded collectables in each level.
As you may have imagined, this game
plays similar to Banjo-Kazooie; you go around the many large worlds searching
for all of the shiny macguffins scattered around said large worlds, then
proceed to the next world and do it again. While the gameplay is similar to
Banjo, there are many differences. For one, this game is on a much bigger scale
than Banjo; the levels are huge, and the amounts of collectables are in the
thousands. This is a massive game. It was the first game that required the
expansion pack, that’s how big it is. Scattered throughout each level are
different kinds of collectables. Small bananas and golden bananas are the two
most important; golden bananas are used to gain access to new worlds. They are
collected by doing various things like solving puzzles, beating bonus stages,
and defeating mini bosses. Small bananas are used to open the boss door in each
level. Each level has its own unique boss, though 2 of the bosses are reused,
but upgraded with more health and more phases. Each boss drops a key, and all the
keys are required to free K. Lumsy, a giant crocodile who was imprisoned by K.
Rool because he didn’t destroy DK Island for him.
Once all the bosses are defeated,
it’s time to face K. Rool. As you enter his lair, the Blast-O-Matic becomes
operational, and you only have 10 minutes to deactivate it before it destroys
the island. In this level you need to use all of the Kongs, but the time limit
is unforgiving; 10 minutes is not enough, if only there was a way to increase
the time. Well in fact there is, if you collected the blueprints to the machine throughout the game and gave them to Snide, (an engineer that worked on the
Blast-O-Matic, but was fired because he couldn’t be trusted) you will have more
time to deactivate the Blast-O-Matic. Without any blueprints, it’s impossible,
but with all of them it’s like the timer isn’t there. Once you deactivate the
machine and get everything needed to open all of the doors, K. Rool escapes,
but he forgot the last key. K. Rool gets away but thanks to the newly freed K.
Lumsy, his ship crashes, now all that’s left is to go to the wreck and lay a
beating on the king. Inside the ship is a boxing ring and each Kong gets to
take a turn to beat the king at his own game. In this fight, all the Kongs must
beat him. It’s the best K. Rool fight, and one of the best final bosses ever. Once
you beat him, congratulations you just saved the Kongs.
I love this game; it’s one of my
favorite games of all time. The levels are huge, the bosses are varied and fun
to fight, the game play is fun, there’s plenty of variety, and it even has a
fun and addicting multiplayer option.  There
are even unlockable minigames and cheats to add even more replay value. The
graphics are amazing, and the music is incredible. It’s my favorite video game
soundtrack; there’s not a single song I don’t like. Even the DK rap is awesome,
and I hate rap.
I can’t really think of anything
bad about this game other than nitpicks, but I will mention them anyway. The
game for the most part has a reasonable challenge; it’s not too easy or too
hard, except a few of minigames can be from unfair to downright frustrating.
Beaver Bother and the beetle races are unforgiving and take a lot of practice
to be able to beat. Also the bonus barrels are everywhere. I personally love them, but if you don’t like them, they can get tedious. There’s also the fact
that 3 of them are Beaver Bother. The game also likes putting bananas for one
Kong in an area that is mostly for a different Kong, but it’s not a big deal.
Even with those complaints, you don’t need to get
everything to beat the game; you could not even touch a single bonus barrel and
still have enough bananas to beat the game. However, in order to beat the game
you need to get the Nintendo and Rare-Ware coins. You need to beat the DK
arcade and the jetpack games to get these coins. Jetpack is easy enough, but
you need to beat the DK arcade TWICE. If you’re not good at it, it’s going to
take awhile before you can beat the game. But aside from that, you can skip a
lot of parts you don’t like, unless you’re going for 100%. If you like
Banjo-Kazooie, then there is a good chance you will like this. The thousands of
collectables may turn people off, but if you like collectables than this is the
game for you. I have one hundred percented this game 5 times, and it certainly
won’t be the last time, that’s how much I love this game. It’s my favorite
Rare-Ware game, Donkey Kong game, and N64 game, and comes close to my favorite
of all time, but I won’t go that far yet. I recommend this game to any Rare-Ware
or platformer fans. I’m not afraid to give it a 10.

Donkey Kong 64: Bananas and A Review   Fireproof
Donkey Kong on the Nintendo 64 has to be the largest Donkey Kong ever created. There's grand new worlds to explore as well as cool new abilities, Kongs, Bananas and so much more. To add to the excitement, Donkey Kong took the old side scrolling gaming concept and updated it to a 3-D version on Donkey Kong Country. This game has a lot of adventure for the wonderful world of Donkey Kong.
Graphics: 9
I will admit that the graphics seem a bit bulgy but other than that I think there was a lot of effort put into the detail of this game. Everything from the worlds to the items you collect are pretty detailed and appeal to the eye. Being that this was a game that launched in the Nintendo 64 era, I'd have to say this was one of the games that offered the most in terms of graphics. The layout of each world is built for fun and each theme is pretty spot on in my opinion. I liked how each world seemed to flow together pretty well and it really felt like it had a Donkey Kong Country feel to it.
One of the things I liked most about the graphics probably starts with the cut-scenes. I liked how the game offered something you could watch after you finished off the boss to the world. I liked that while you were making progress you could see King K. Rool was making progress. I thought that this really helped bring out the story within the game and added more of a purpose to what you're doing this compared to the Donkey Kong Country series. The overall 9 I gave for these graphics I felt were great but not quite among the best I've seen.
Sound: 9
There were a few things that really stood out to me. The first thing I noticed was the Donkey Kong Rap at the beginning of the game. I thought it was ridiculous but funny and as a kid I still tried to sing it. The other element that really stood out to me were some of the boss songs and sounds. One boss in particular just had me laughing non-stop because I thought it was ridiculous and if I play the game again now, I ll probably end up laughing again. The last element was the final boss with the sounds and tiny bit of music you could hear in the back ground. That was probably the most ridiculous thing I ever saw, especially among all the Donkey Kong games. It was cheesy but it was fun and enjoyable.
The sounds that I liked best on this game probably came from Funky's Armory. I thought it was a cool idea, concept and it was probably the most normal bit of music the game had to offer. Yes, that's a bit of an exaggeration but overall the 8 I gave sound I thought was fair. The game offers a lot for sounds and music but like the graphics I felt that they weren't among the best I've seen. On top of that, I felt that there was a lot of room for improvement to be made to the game and it felt like it was kind of lacking a few things. The music for inside King K. Rool's ship was pretty cool though. I liked that too.
Addictiveness: 10
There's too much in the game to do to rank it any less than a 10. If you weren't happy playing the main game you could play some of the older games. I liked how the original Donkey Kong game was incorporated into this game and there was a prize you needed to get from playing it. I really liked it and even though I died a lot and was frustrated I still couldn't pull myself away until I finished it. To add to that, even if I completed one of the worlds I would still need to go back to it to actually complete. There is more to discover in each world and only specific Kongs go to certain areas to unlock them and find things that the other Kongs needed. In one aspect the game was a huge puzzle.
What I really liked about the game is that it offered the new Donkey Kong Country feel for a 3-D platform. It really brought out the DK Island theme that has been the foundation for most Donkey Kong games. After that, I fell victim to playing against my brother on the multi-player feature that the game offers and battling it out with him. There was just so much to do that it took a long time to do everything in the game before it gets to you and becomes too much.
I would like to see the multi-player feature of this game in action and possibly become another netplay tournament. I think the originality of the game would make for some intense and epic free for all battles on some of the stages and would make the game pretty competitive and challenging. Overall, the game earns a 10 for addictiveness in my eyes.
Story: 10
Donkey Kong 64 is probably one of those games you don't expect a story for but it surprised me because everything you did was intentionally apart of the main story. First off, every time you complete a world and defeat the boss of that world you will open a new cut scene that shows what's going on inside King K. Rool's ship. This goes on for the entire length of the game and even towards the end of the game before you engage the last boss. I really liked the fact that you cool see everything  that's going on. Most of it was silly but in some ways I think it added to the story.
Plus, the credits and final boss contribute toward the story too. Not only do you witness what's going on during the game but you're able to see what happens in the final stages of the game. I've always liked games that game provide a great story and leave room open for a sequel Overall, the game is still pretty similar to the Donkey Kong Country series and maintains that same routine but also took a step in the right direction to make the game unique to the others as well. For that, I give a 10 for the story.
Depth: 10
There are many things you can do in this game. First off, it's an adventure game so you're going to need to explore around every where to find everything. Secondly, you're expected collect everything from Bananas to more more bananas to other things that have something to do with bananas. You really need to collect the different Golden Bananas, the Colored Bananas, The Banana Medals, Banana Fairies, Crowns, Mini-Games and so much more. Collecting is endless.
On top of the main game you have your mini-games. You're able to play the Banana Barrel mini-games you find throughout the game where maybe you need to smack the bug to win or get all the Gnawty into the hole in the center or play the slots. There's tons to do with those. To take a step further you can play the old school Donkey Kong to unlock another prize. You also have some sort of space game that finds you a prize. I'm also going to take a step further than that and add in the Rhino and Shark mini-games you can compete for a high score. Lastly, you also have the multi-player feature where you can battle up to 3 other players in a free-for all competition.
With having all this to do in the game there's no way I could give any lower a rating. There's just so much to do in the game and it takes a long time to play. The story is big and with needing to collect so many things you will take days to beat. I feel that Depth easily earns a 10 of 10.
Difficulty: 8
The game isn't exactly difficult but I liked the fact that the entire game was like a huge puzzle. Starting from the first level you couldn't fully complete it until you rescued the other Kongs. Even if you went back you needed to figure out where to find the rest of your missing stuff. With having so much to collect there were times you searched the entire world from bottom up or top to bottom and still could not find 1 lousy banana bunch. In some ways, it was really annoying and sucked but in other ways it actually challenged you and made you learn to think outside of the box. Some times things were plan as day and you'd pass right by them without even knowing it.
Within the difficulty you also had the different boss battles. I did encounter some problems with a few of the bosses and even end up dead if was reckless but the real challenge was the final boss. Much like the other boss battles in the other Donkey Kong games, you fought the final boss in stages. This boss fight is no different. This time around it's more than just jumping on his head... you have a time limit AND you're likely to die many times. This is, without a doubt, one of the harder boss fights I've ever faced in playing games over the years including those of today and those from the retro eras. Difficulty earns an 8 for being able to challenge you.
Overall: 10
I feel that Donkey Kong 64 was able to maintain the Donkey Kong Country vibe that made the game popular. This game offers a lot to do which helps make the game fun and brought enjoyment to my childhood. Donkey Kong 64 was one of the games I loved playing on the Nintendo 64 and I even played it several times. Unfortunately, it took me several years to actually find everything in the game including one of  the battle royale for the Crown. Apparently I missed one of the Battle Royale Crowns on Donkey Kong's Island near the 5th world. I felt stupid for never realizing what I was missing after searching high and low for a long time.
The game really challenges users in some of the elements which makes the game fun. I felt that the difficulty was right at the level it should be especially because it was meant for kids as well as adults which requires some sort of balance between both age groups. I thought that Donkey Kong 64 left an opening for another expansion to the series but one was never made. Overall though, the game is worth playing. It's fun, enjoyable, funny, action packed and plenty more can describe Donkey Kong in this game. With having a wide arsenal of tools to play with you could prevent boredom easily. This is a quality game that earns a 10 out of 10.

Donkey Kong 64 (BOOYA!!)   Marcmoney
This is an awesome game. I loved playing it and it was such a long RPG. This made other games such as Banjo Kazooie fun.
When i first started playing this game, it was the best adventurous game i ever played. It had Donkey Kong (of course), Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lankey Kong, and Chunky Kong (i think). A game starring with 5 characters in the game and using them whenever you unlock them was the biggest deal of this game. It made game players feel tingly inside to play with different kongs. I think they should have replaced Tiny Kong with Dixie Kong. That would make it even better. I would recommend playing this game because it shows old time fun and brings back old memories. If I got this game on my actual Nintendo 64, I would play it, i cannot play it on here because the controls are a little hard to use. Anyways, the story is even more interesting and funny. Get this game, it is awesome and it is very very very adventurous!!!
Another thing is the Battle Mode (or whatever its called). Playing with friends and battling them in the game is very fun. You get guns, bombs, etc. in it and i would always play it with my friends. So that is another thing that. Get the Donkey Kong 64 game, it is very awesome and it is just....AWESOME!!! :D

DK Crew in 3-D!   pacman1755
I remember this old game as a kid. It was one of THE most fun N64 games I have ever played besides the Mario games, funny enough. So, the question remains, does it still hold up to this day? Has it aged poorly or well? Let's find out.
Difficulty: 6
The difficulty in the game is pretty laid back, since it is a kids game after all, but it is a challenge to get from one point of the game to the next, due to the requirements for you to beat the game. But that will go to the depth part. Overall, the bosses aren't that hard, getting Golden Bananas are comfortably easy, and everything else is a very fun challenge.
Depth: 9
The game can be a LONG LONG experience and a chore at times, but 99% of it is the requirement to get to the final boss, and that is to collect every single Banana in each area of the game, which can get a little tiresome, but the fun factor is still there collecting it, but the total bananas are 201. Ooooooooh, Banana... Anywho, the game can take a long time to compete, especially if you're a first comer to the game. Yeah, you might lose some interest to it after a while, but the reward is still pretty good, which is the end of the game.
Story: 7
It's what you would be familiar to if you were a big fan of the Donkey Kong Country series, this is the story. The Evil King K Rool is about to blow DK Island off the face of the earth with his giant laser, known as the "Blast O-Matic", since after COUNTLESS times he tried to capture the DK Islands, he wants to destroy it, which is the "if I can't have it, nobody can" and it comically enough, malfunctions, which puts his fortress face to face with the Island, which he cannot move from. Since he has time to kill, he captures DK's Crew, Diddy, Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky Kong, to keep DK from storming towards him so quickly, so he can repair his laser, and to get rid of the dastardly Kongs once and for all. Now DK has to save his friends, with the help of Cranky, Funky, and Candy Kong, with an unknown kremling in a cage along the way, he must collect his Banana Hoard once again, save his friends, and stop K. Rool before it's too late.
Addictiveness: 9
This game has a LOT of fun in every level. The themes are fun to listen to, the Kongs are easy to control, and some mini games along the way to Bananas are really fun. It keeps me very entertained, and if I lose a life, I can easily go back and attempt it again with the same fun. It's pretty addicting from beginning to end, for me.
Sound: 10!
The music in this game, besides the DK Rap of course, is amazing. It's very atmospheric, and the music in each level is very catchy. Especially just the overworld in DK Island. It's a real treat to just kick back and just listen to. If I could, I would just turn it on when I'm on vacation, it's so amazing. There's little to no voice acting, besides the first cutscene in the game, and it is never spoken of again. Text and sounds/grunts for the rest.
Graphics: 9
The game's graphics can be summed up to that they have aged pretty well. I have no specific complaints besides that you can exploit a LOT of graphic glitches and sometimes skip 99% of the game with exploits like these. But besides that, it's all pretty good.
Overall: 9
Overall, now that I break it all down, I must say that the game has aged pretty well, and it's definitely a joy to play to this very day. Would I recommend it to a regular gamer? If they have the patience to have to have it done 100% to beat the game, yeah. It's fun for the whole family, and it definitely shows.

DK64 Ultimate banana lovers experience   cameraguy256
A few years ago i purchased my Nintendo 64 for about $100 and it came with this and many other games, it was the first game i put in my N64 and I never took it out again, I completely neglected the other games that came with the system and continued to play this masterpiece... but anyway let me get to the gameplay:
In this revolutionary donkeykong game you don't just play as DK and his trusty companion Diddy Kong, you get to play as the entire Kong family, bashing your way though barrels, swinging though the abyss of the forest, and playing a variety of mini games racing your way though tracks, killing crocs with coconut guns, and soaring though the skys of the island on Diddy kongs trusty jetpack.
The game possibility's are nearly endless and the gameplay is nothing next to repetitive by a longs shot...If you love fun then your going to fall in love with this game!
Last Note*: If you think this is all the game has to offer, it is NOT , i merely did not include all of the info as i dont want to spoil any more than i have, suprises are half the fun :D
I played this game for a total of 68 hours and i have NOT completed it to 100% this game is HUGE HUGE HUGE
Story mode
Multiplayer 1-4 players
Minigames
Classic games (Classic donkeykong and jetpack)

Donkey kong action!   Speedic
I find this game awesome! Although it doesn't entirely work on vizzed at the moment it is an awesome game. I love the echo voice of the "oh, Banana!". It has enough difficulty to make you frustrated to unlock some characters (like Tiny). Yet, it also has hilarious action, like fighting the giant Dragon fly. I, personally like how today they make Candy less.... um.... weird. But the game is an awesome 3D game, and is perfect to play, because there is always a secret in the levels that you might have missed at first, and found later. So it keeps you on your toes and ready for action. I also love the tag barrel, were you choose your character. I love how they all want you to pick them, and show off, and get upset if you don't pick them. But it is a good family fun, action adventure.

I wonder why Nintendo chose to remove it... It's a shame; if this game crashed as frequently as Banjo-Tooie, I'd still love both of them, but neither are actually playable.

Is this REALLY a puzzle-solving game? Seems miscategorized. Should this come up when I search for Tetris?

I'm having issues too. Without the Barrel Blast challenges I can only get up to 3 characters and just over 50 Golden Bananas (53-55 to be exact)...that's just dissappointing...
