Digimon World Dusk Featured Review

Digimon World Dusk Review by: The Star of Mus.. - 9.5/10

Chaos Unleashed! Digivolution!
Alright! I'm back with another review. This one is of Digimon World Dusk version! I hope you all enjoy this one. There may be a few small spoilers in story but hopefully that will not be a problem. So without farther delay... Let's go!

Graphics: 9

This game has fairly good graphics both overworld and battle wise. But they are not the best either. But seeing as they surpass their predecessor I won't harp on them too bad. Plus this game had some of my favorite digimon in it  like Agumon and Guilmon and did a great job showing them off as well as giving me more favorites too such as Lunamon and her whole route actually and ChaosGallentmon who is a darker version of Gallentmon from tamers.

Sound: 10

This game boasts one of my favorite game soundtracks ever. Aside from me being a huge fan of Pokémon and its music this game and its counter part Digimon World Dawn are a great rival to many of the Pokémon themes. So you know they are good if I'm putting them on the same level. Well anyway some great ones come from areas such as the title screen, Darkmoon City and Sunshine City, as well as the evil digimon's theme. I may not have heard all the music seeing as I still can't fully 100% the game but from what I have heard It's great.

Addictiveness: 10

Seeing as I have both Dawn and Dusk and have beaten the both games multiple times with multiple different teams I would say the replay value is pretty high at least for me. Now granted some parts are a bit boring after playing it so many times and to have an easier time on bosses grinding is a must but I still play these games a lot. Sadly being stuck on one of them is putting a bit of a damper on that but eventually I will break through.

Story: 10

Ok so the story varies slightly between the two but seeing as this review is on dusk I will focus there. So it starts with you choosing boy or girl which changes nothing, and then a starter pack. The packs all have Lunamon which is the mascot for Dusk version. There is an attack pack, a defense pack, a balance pack and a pretty pack... ok... weird pack name... Anyway after you choose a pack the game opens with a training event that goes wrong  and then the next day you have a tournament. Pretty simple beginning but things get shaky after that as some virus destroys both cities and puts your team all back at rookie. So it's training as usual as you complete quests to get points. Then after completing so many species quests the union may ask for you specifically. Now I personally simply call the union Quests the story quests as they advance the story. So the point is to complete them. Each quest has a difficulty so be careful not to get in over your head. So needless to say you eventually have to face the enemy that destroyed City and restore balance to the digital world. That about sums it up. But after credits roll there is still more. If you haven't already raise your tamer rank which I suggest doing during story aside from Platinum rank. I still can't beat that one. And finish an extra quest from the union. If you can beat both another Quest opens as another Tournament that is way harder. Good luck if you get that far.

Depth: 10

Ok so if you are a completionist this may be difficult. Over 200 digimon to see. Sadly you can't have them all at once as the limit is 40 digimon at any one time. But it's a nice challenge. I'm not sure how hard it is as I have never tried. I just used an Action Replay after the first two times through as I had very limited options for my team. But with one small cheat that filled my Digimon List and 999% Data collection I could choose from any of the digimon in the list. Though you are better off starting as rookie or in-training because Fully digivolved digimon have better stats if you bring them up rather than start at the top. I learned this the hard way. Mega level is great but if you start with them then their MP or move points are low but move costs are high... This means very low stamina... Any way seeing as I still have never 100% the game there is quite a bit to do but if you are determined then you can get through it all.

Difficulty: 8

So this game can be difficult if you are not ready for battle. Being over prepared is the best bet. The first boss is beatable as rookies but level up as much as possible but the second boss fight is best done with champion level digimon. So the more you train the better off you will be. Also most bosses after the first boss can be dealt damage three times with one attack if you have moves that hit three side by side squares. Nice little trick. Now the final boss is very hard as it is a two stage fight. Bring plenty of healing items or a digimon that can heal with a move. He has no weakness that I can tell so that is not fun but he is beatable with mega level digimon. The platinum rank up test is even worse. I would say it is one of the toughest fights I have ever had. I still can't win so that says something. Anyway it all depends on how ready you are for the fight. Good luck out there.

Overall: 9.5

Ah the final rating. This game has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I love using all my favorite digimon to win and challenge my friends well when this game was somewhat popular anyway. But now I'm mainly training so I can perfect my team for the Platinum Tamer Test. But some day I will push through and unlock the final Quest. That being said this game while difficult has many up sides in music and graphics. Plus there is so much to do. And like with most of the Pokémon games trade is necessary to see all the digimon. But it can be done. If you don't have a way to trade then to get it done you might want to see if cheats are for you but try not to until you beat the game the first time. It will take the fun out of the challenge.

See ya guys next time and thanks for reading!
