Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse Review made by TornadoMudkip. TornadoMudkip
Graphics 9/10 ~ WOW! I'm extremely shocked right now! The graphics are really amazing!
Personally I think the graphics of this game are almost the same as Game Boy Advance graphics.
I always loved GBA graphics and this one too, it just looks beautiful but why? I'll explain that now. ~
You play as Mickey, who just looks like Mickey from Comics and Shows on the TV.
Funny thing is if you don't move, Mickey starts to dance a little, which looks pretty funny.
If you walk/run or jump you can exactly see if you walk/run or jump. This just looks like a ''2D true world.''
Every enemy looks exactly as an enemy. < For example an angry and scary character.
But if we look at to the evil and the final boss Witch Mizrabel... I laugh really hard if I see her! Really a funny character! < Watch out if you see her face! :P
The whole world in this game looks cool. The game has different levels to play in easy, normal and hard mode. Which is amazing in my opinion, I explain later why in this review.
What I can tell about the colours? They just look beautiful and splendid. I really enjoyed this game more looking at those amazing colours, they make the game more fun and they make me exited!
There are many fantasy levels in this game. They look amazing and special.
Overall I think this is the best part of the game. The makers did really great job with graphics in my opinion. Also Disney made the characters smashing, which is good. :)
Sound 9/10 ~ How could this be possible? This is just BRILLIANT!
I think everyone knows already that I really appreciate and love classic music in games. This makes me calm. Sometimes, music like the one of the first level makes me excited. + It gives me my Burning Spirit, which is special and for me only!
I'm pleased that the sound isn't the same everywhere. Boss music is different than the level ones.
I actually like this, I think other wise the game would be more boring without different music.
The sound I like the most is the one from the first level. It's really awesome and fits perfectly for the area of the level in my opinion. I think more players of this game like this one the most!
Overall, nothing much more to say I guess. Simple and short ~ Just awesome!
Addictiveness 8/10 ~ Hmm.. Personally I think this could be a little better. I explain now.
Okay it's very fun to play this game for the first time when you know nothing about the game first.
You can ''explore'' the game first and you'll quickly love it. But sadly, this game doesn't have really much levels and bosses to beat... If there was more to do in this game, I think I would love it more.
Positive point is that you can
select in which mode you play: easy, normal and hard.
In easy mode you only need to beat 3 levels without to beat any bosses. Sounds really easy right?
In the other modes you need to do a little more to complete this game of course, else it would be too easy for players who are really good in this game!
The sound and graphics part also say enough if this game is really addictive or not. If you enjoy them, I think then the game would be good to play if you like them. For me the graphics and sound ''say'' ''Come on play and don't give up!'' < And this is for me greatly addictive! Every person is different, so you need to find an own way to enjoy this game or another game so much you can do.
You can pick the mode where you are the best at, so you'll have a lot of fun if you play the game.
Overall, I think this is not the best part, but it's not worse. It's greatly additive when you play the game for the first times of your life. The same goes for me. I actually still like it! :)
Story 4/10 ~ Could be more special in my opinion...
A pretty classic story ~ Witch Mizrabel kidnapped Minnie Mouse and it's Mickey's job to save Minnie of course. To do this Mickey needs to collect seven gems to save Minnie. Mickey sees and does a lot on his journey. Like beating enemies and jumping and collecting items. The last evil enemy is Witch ugly person herself...
Like I said this is really classic because many games have a story like this one. (For example ~ Mario needs to save Peach again because Bowser kidnapped her again.)
I'm really sorry but I think this is just copied from Mario games etc. Not an original story.
A special Story would be more fun and more excitement for me..
The story length is average. A little too short but still good for me.
Overall, I just need to rate this low. This is the worst part of this game. But don't think this game isn't fun. The other parts are just better. ~
Depth 5/10 ~ Also a not very good part if you ask me to answer this.
Actually like I said before in Addictiveness, the game isn't really long and doesn't have that much offers to beat. To be exact, the only thing you can do in this game is beating the story, which isn't really that much. But it's still worth to play all of the modes, to test your ''how good you are'' in the game. (Modes are: easy, normal and hard.)
Personally I think it would be fun to have some mini games in this game for fun. Just simple things like pushing one button to run hard. On the other side, if there where too much mini games, this game would become something like Mario Party. < And that's not right to do! :P
Overall I think to see this all, it would be really the best to have just some more levels in the game.
I guess and bet that more fans of this awesome game would think the same as me!
Difficulty 7/10 ~ Okay, for me this was a good thing. I really appreciate the makers of this game because of the difficulty. Brilliant done!
Not too hard or too easy, thanks to the mode choosing system in this game. I really like and love this a lot. Because I'm really bad in games like this. (seriously.) I'm really glad that there's a easy system to play! (The only way I can beat this game, lol.) For players who can beat the hard system/mode, I must say they are really good. Something I never can beat.
But like always I'll never give up and one day, I beat this game in hard mode!
I can guess this ~ Enemies just really love to kill me even in the first level. < And I like it! ~ :P
Overall, this is really good. Perfect for players like me. I don't have really much to say right now.
Overall 7.9/10
First of all, I promised play4fun to make a Review for this game. I wanted to do this today. Recently I'm really busy, this means I almost never got any time to make a Review.. Which is sad + I'm not in the best mood ever. Maybe I can edit some parts later.
Next time with a Review, I promise to make a better one than this one. Thank you all to read this Review! ~ Still I hope you like it a lot! :D
Second, thanks to play4fun, I started to play this game. I would love to thank him a lot. This is game is really worth to play and I highly recommend you to play this game. I really enjoyed this game a lot. Never really was thinking that Disney etc. could make really splendid games! ~

Mighty Mouse! poke-fan-1900
I decided to check out this game as the game showed up at the top of the Retro Game Room and the title perked my interest. I didn't realize when I clicked the link that it would be a Disney Game.
The graphics are a delight and take full advantage of the graphics capability for the particular system. While the game is filled with bright colors, none of these colors jump out in a manner that causes the person playing the games problems. Everything is also detailed and the game has a major color pallet as well as gradations. The sound is also nice, but happens to have this odd background sound that I can't pinpoint that comes up every so often that I am not fond of.
Both the graphics and the sound are reminiscent of Disney's Fantasia. For those not familiar with this particular piece by Disney the first in the series was a collection of animations set to classical music. They ranged from Pegasus flying into the sky, to mushrooms dancing as well as ghosts and other oddities coming out at night. This game is similar in the fact the different stages are each unique and it feels like you're traveling through various worlds on your journey to rescue Minnie Mouse. That's pretty much the basic story line... you're traveling through these worlds to rescue Minnie from some Big Baddie who wants to switch places with her. The game is a rather straight forward side scroll game that is straight forward in the path you want to take with Mickey.
Be forewarned though that you don't start off with any ammo to throw at the creatures and jumping on top seems to be an issue of timing as well as figuring out how each creature can be defeated without throwing apples at them. Figuring out how each creature is best beaten is honestly a task in itself and may require a bit of thinking. Despite this the controls are easy and difficulty level in the long run depends on how good you are at this kind of game. There is no major worry about miss jumping or miss calculating. It's more a matter of figuring out how to get from one end of the stage to another in order to get the most points possible.

Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse for Genesis classgame
*SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT*
Just recently I played a couple of GEN games that were also released on SMS and well they kind of leave alot to be desired but I'll get to that when I review Sonic OG, right here, I'm going to talk about, I have played both (though SMS is on practice mode because I don't know my way around that one) right now I'm going to talk about another nostalgic favourite this time Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse.
Gameplay and Story: The game opens with Mickey and Minnie dancing around until a jealous witch named Mizrabel kidnaps Minnie why? well the opening captions explain that the witch was jealous of Minnie's beauty and popularity. Mickey arrives at the castle and runs into the one time king of said castle and he explains that Mizrabel wants to make herself as beauty as Minnie and make Minnie ugly like her. WHAT?! girl, do you have any idea how badly that would backfire on you? why would you want Mouse Ears? (yeah I imagine that if she ever succeeded in her plan she would look like Minnie alright, mouse ears and all). The king tells Mickey to find the 7 rainbow gems which would have the power to defeat Mizrabel....YEAH RIGHT when Mickey does acquire those 7 gems he doesn't use them on the witch the gems basically make a bridge that would help him cross the castle to her lair.
Graphics: oh my god the graphics are so stunning, especially on Mickey and Minnie because I feel like I really am staring at Mickey Mouse. And as for Mizrabel's attempted transformation obviously they reused the evil queen design. I love how the worlds are designed too, especially the library.
Soundtrack: I love everything about the soundtrack, it kind of sounds like something you could hear at a Disney Park, hell the music used in the Spider web level or world 1 and the swimming area in world 4 felt like I was unlocked some kind of music that was completely locked away in my mind (and it could have been the music from the film Raggedy Ann and Andy a Musical adventure but that's just my guess).
Addictive: This game definitely kept me coming back, by the end of 2002 I was able to complete this game.
Depth: the game offers 5 worlds, with the library having the most content, drop into a teacup and you're swimming and dodging Sugar Cubes. Go into a milk bottle and you enter gingerbread world, that truly is delicious and it reminds me so much of Christmas, but man the boss in that level is probably the most difficult because that dragon is so unpredictable either he stretches up or stretches to the side. If you play it in practice mode, you only have to visit 3 worlds and only one portion of each part of it and won't have to deal with any bosses, and the three gems are for the purpose of making the witch see the beauty within herself. As much as I like the ending where the castle collapses after Mickey rescues Minnie and the witch help them escape, for some reason I do prefer the practice ending.
Difficulty: Depends on how much you've played it, even I didn't make it to the first boss level right away. Also it would depend on your method of defeating the boss, if you defeat them with your butt (yeah a jump-sit routine is used here) you can defeat the boss with 5 hits, if you choose to throw stuff it might take 7 hits (unless you are on the third round no matter what you can defeat him in 5).
Overall: I love love love love love this game, it's no surprise that it got a remake (even though I haven't played it, ah well one day they'll make an emulator of that and maybe then I can play it.
Well that's my three reviews for the day, I probably won't do another one until thursday when I will have more time on my hands.
I give this review a perfect 10
