Oh no...... Not a sonic the hedgehog clone.... OH great. If you don't know who bubsy is hes the most annoying video game character EVER. Ugh. Not only that but hes a clone of sonic the hedgehog. proof? Here's your proof: He runs fast jumps on enemies to kill them at the end of a stage you touch a thing that spins then shows bubsy's face. Come on! Hes a clear rip off! But... If its a clone... the game can't be BAD right? heh...heh... (I'm not going to enjoy this review....)Story: well let's start off with one of the stupidest things about this horrible game. The story. Now the story of the game is just so dumb I really think a 3 year old wrote it. The evil woolies from outer space are trying to steal all the yarn balls from the world! And bubsy the super cool bobcat has too stop them! Wow. That's..... a really dumb story. Even for a game that's really stupid.Gameplay: The gameplay is close to sonic the hedgehog. So... how could this be bad? Well.. they messed it up. Bubsy can run glide and jump on enemies. That's cool but you think that when you run faster you will make longer jumps..... right? Nope. Not with this game! No matter what speed your going your jump will only depend on the direction your pressing on the d pad. Nice. If you get hit once you die. You have 9 lives and 3 continues. Now you think the 9 lives thing would be a reference to bubsy being a cat but......Difficulty: This is really REALLY overdone. Does this game REALLY need to be this hard? The game is insanely hard. Now yes.. I know... hard is a good thing but not when its done like this. The difficulty is based on bad momentum and 1 hit kills. That's not challenge. That's handicapping the player.Music/sound: The sound of this game is ok. There are a few sound tracks that seem to be repeated but only remixed horribly. But other then that. When it comes to sound effects its really good. At least SOMETHING about this game is good.Graphics: The graphics are like candy. Their very well done and are bright, colorful and best of all: You can tell what things are and not be confused. (Just saying: This game only has 2 good things about it.)In conclusion: The games a car wreckage that exploded into 27632764724737847 different pieces. Bubsy review Jynx
My last two game reviews were of good games. But I think I wanna do something else now. Today, I'm reviewing a bad game. I'm reviewing Bubsy for the Sega Genesis.
Before I get into the bad things about this game, which might I add is nearly the whole thing, I will say that it doesn't look entirely bad. But it doesn't look entirely great either, but for not completely screwing it up, I'll give it a 5.
Now here's the awful stuff about the game. The music is terrible. I turned on the game and when the title music came on, it literally bothered my ears. The style of music they were going for just doesn't work for the noise on the Sega Genesis. It is just awful.
This game is about as fun as getting a 40-pound lamp smashed on your head. Imagine playing a Mario game, but instead of playing as Mario, you were playing as Sonic. So the level design of Mario with the speed of Sonic equals not fun. Oh, and should I mention that there are no power-ups and you die in one hit. Addictiveness is a 2.
This game has no power-ups, about one or two, maybe three enemies. That's literally it. Nothing else. Depth is a 1 out of 10. First time ever in one of my reviews.
This game is really, really, hard. And it's all for one reason. You see, when you run through the level you start picking up a lot of speed, and the next thing you know, you run into an enemy and die. It's like Sonic, only a lot less fun. 9 out of 10 for difficulty.
Overall, Bubsy is an awful game that tries way too hard to be the next Sonic the Hedgehog. Bubsy gets a 3.2 out of 10.

I'm pretty sure that all you guys think that bubsy is one of the most annoying characters in existence, I mean, heck! He even got his own freaking cartoon series! But In my opinion, I think he is not that annoying! And you guys are about to see why, I mean, yeah, sure he talks alot and whatnot, but whatever! This is bubsy for the Sega genesis.

The story behind in this adventure is pretty simple to be honest, the plot is that one day in the forest, This energetic bobcat by the name of bubsy is happily chilling in his home, and then out of the blue one day, These evil aliens called woolies have came to the earth to steal all of the balls of yarn left! It is know your job to retrieve all the balls back and help bubsy return home safely!
Gameplay-7/10
Bubsy is a pretty simple platformer to be honest, you control the main lead character, bubsy, a highly energetic bobcat, as you run through these big action packed levels collecting yarn balls and defeating enemies along the way, The controls are pretty simple for a genesis game, A is jump, and well that is pretty much it! Bubsy really does not have any special attacks armed with him! Just a little jump, I know it is not the best choice for a video game character, but at least it is the most acceptable! Each level is packed with stuff to collect, and these include yarn balls which will increase your score, shirts with exclamation marks on them which will give you an extra life, and so on. Bubsy runs pretty fast for a bobcat! In fact, he runs so fast that you can barely keep up with the screen! Now the problem with this is that sometimes you can jump so high that you end dying instantly, yes, this game kills you if you fall from a big height, Way before Mario 64 started doing it! Each level is also packed with shortcuts to take which will lead you through hidden parts of a level, these can mostly lead to you extra balls, yarn, etc. Anyways, that is all I can say for the gameplay!

This game was released in 1992, this was one of the earlier years of the Sega genesis, and for what it is worth, It doesn't look all that bad! All the worlds and level that you will be exploring are big, vast, and bursting with color! Which makes exploring them even more fun then usual! As for the characters, they look pretty darn good as well! Bubsy is a bobcat with an exclamation mark on his shirt, the woolies look like your typical aliens, and so on! I must say accolade did an amazing job with this game! The HUD is pretty self explanatory as well, It shows you how many lives you have left, your amount of yarn balls, and your score for the entire game.

When you boot up the game, you get some pretty darn happy sounding music that helps you prepare for the overall mood of the game, which is a big happy forest of all sorts and the main start of our bobcat's adventure! But oh well, the sound in this game is actually pretty good! All the songs you will be hearing in each level sound really bright happy and cartoony, which is something to expect from games like this! Now as for the sound effects, they are OK, There are sound effects, but they are really quiet and can't be heard that well, But for what there is, there are mostly boings, booms, tinks, and a bunch of other ones....

I remember the first day I played this game, I did not know what to expect at all! But when I did play it, I was instantly sucked in to this big cartoony world! The game has alot going for it and I can really tell! Well yeah, the game was an early genesis title, But who cares? The game is at least better then that other cursed genesis game I reviewed last time, you know, the one where Mickey mouse is a wizard who must navigate through treacherous worlds trying to defeat enemies but forgetting that you have to press up before jumping in order to actually kill them? Yeah, I know that one, "Shivers"

To be honest with you here, the game is actually pretty long and offers alot for you to go through! I mean first, the game is about 15 levels long, so you can most likely beat it in about 1 hour, the game isn't the longest adventure in the genesis library, but at least it is fun to play all the time!
Difficulty-7/10
Here is one of the game's really high points! The difficulty level! I remembered playing this for the first time and being rather disgusted by how everything is trying to kill you! But never the less, If you can get through all of those problems without screaming, then the game should be pretty darn easy for you!

I know what you guys are going to say! You guys are going to criticize me for actually liking this guy, but to be honest he actually is a pretty cool cat with attitude! I mean sure he got his own cartoon and whatnot but that doesn't mean you guys should hate on him so much! I gave this game an 8.1 because how much fun it offers and the big length, so just buy this game! You won't be dissapointed! Anyways this has been my 96th review everybody! Let's try to get to 100 on thursday!

Bubsy for the Sega Genesis GenesisJunkie
Lets make the fur fly with Bubsy! Bubsy was made by Accolade, who made some popular titles such as Ballz, Barkley shut up and jam!and , Double Dragon. Bubsy was being groomed to be the next Sonic the Hedgehog, but I didn't happen and for good reason. Bubsy has pretty good graphics, but the graphics does not make up for its downfalls. The music is not bad but could be a lot better. Lets talk about the controls. You run very fast! That's a good thing in Sonic, but in this game its the reason you are gonna die over and over, when you run sometimes you don't see the enemies in time and run right into them or off a platform. The controls feel sloppy. The enemies in the first levels are these weird guys with big feet that blow at you, it looks like they are blowing there nose at you so watch out for boogers. You have no health bar, it is a one hit kill, and if you jump on an enemy and don't hit them perfect you will die. You better watch out for water, if your toe touches the water you will drown. This game is difficult for all the wrong reasons and is not addictive at all for me, after twenty minutes I don't ever want to see Bubsy again. In Bubsy you collect balls that look like yarn but I don't know if that's what it is and don't know what they are even for. With this game you ether love it or hate it, and I hate it. Bubsy is definitely no Sonic, but this game is worth playing at lest once.

It's Bubsy, the mascot that wanted to be the next Sonic,Mario or Crash Bandicoot but failed miserably in the 90s.

Uh the levels are very colourful to look at
You can mute him as his puns get annoying very quickly
The game can be generous with extra life shirts.
Ok on to the bad
Cheap one hit deaths, seriously anything can kill you. Hit a rollercoaster? dead. Fall too far? dead. A car can capture you & drives off screen? dead.
Like other gaming mascots he should have come with either a life bar or some sort of buffer like Sonics rings.
Collecting yarn balls is meaningless,they don't give you an extra life or act as protection. It adds to your score,that's it.
Levels are just cobbled together with some places you need to navigate with jumps.
The slippery controls & movement. Bubsy gains too much momentum & his jumps are as if he's jumping in low gravity. It makes navigating platforms almost impossible.
Lack of any sort of power ups or abilities. He can jump & glide thats it....
The difficulty is ridiculous due to the one hit deaths,especially the boss fights.
As a certain Angry Video Game Nerd would say: What a s*** load of f***!.
Bubsy is still going strong now somehow....
