Talk about Boogers   tornadocam
Are you tired of runny noises, is the common cold or flu getting bothering you. Well you need the Boogerman. Okay just kidding, but Boogerman is the game I will be reviewing and critiquing today. So lets get to it achooo !!!!
Story: 7
Its a dark and stormy night the engineer and  professor Stinkbaum is working on a machine. This new machine will transport pollution into a world called Dimension X-Crement. The same evening rich and wealthy Snotty decides to check this out. As Snotty has suspicion that something is not right. So Snotty acts like a janitor to see what the deal is. The dusty lab causes him to sneeze which breaks the machine. Snotty sees a troll like hand grab the battery the machines power source. Snotty then jumps into the closet transforms into his alter ego Boogerman. Booger jumps into the portal that the hand appeared to get to the bottom of this mystery. Booger suddenly finds himself in a world with pollution, mucus and other things. Booger armed with explosive belches, farts, and of course boogers makes his way throughout the world.
Okay, the plot was creative and comical. I just find that a guy's superpower is boogers, belching and gassing is just hilarious. Of course this is the video game world so anything goes I guess lol. However the plot did leave some unanswered questions. First being was booger sent to investigate the machine. Second, why was he acting like a janitor. My guess would be so he could get close to the machine. Finally the plot never really tells us how he became Boogerman. But aside from those  negatives the plot was overall good. I thought it was creative I liked that the plot had an environmental and scientific component to it.  It offered something new for a change. Its not like Mega Man were you have Sigma or Dr. Wily trying to take over. It is also not like Mario were you have Bowser trying to take over. This was something new and so I give the plot a good 7 out of 10.
Graphics and Controls: 8
The Graphics in this game are amazing. The background is colorful and fits the game's theme. I really like the nighttime backgrounds. I also like how the trees have faces on them that adds more comedy to the game. The colors of this game really shine and really go with the games theme. The makers of this game knew what they were doing. The sprites of this game are also nicely done. I like it how Booger sprite changes depending on what the action the player is having him doing, rather it be farting, belching, or flicking boogers at enemies. Plus the sprites also shine when he says Booger. They also shine when Booger gets hit enough that he turns into snot and slides down the screen saying OW !!! that is just funny and nicely done.  I would say the Graphics are on par to Mega Man games yeah they are that good

The controls are overall very good they are just some minor problems. Sometimes Booger can appear to be sluggish at times especially when jumping from one place to another. Since the game gives you the impression that booger is big. I wonder if that was done intentionally or not. Still, it can be a minor problem. It seems like when Booger goes from one tree or platform to another that there is a lag. But the over controls are very good and smooth.  The sluggish controls while jumping does bring the rating down a little bit. Still, I give the graphics and controls a solid 8 out of 10.

Sound: 9
The game really shines in the sound department. The music is awesome and fits the game quite nicely. Some of the tunes are catchy. I also like the sounds the enemies make rather it is trying to stab you as they make a poking sound when they do. But Booger is the star of the sounds. I like it how when Booger gets hit he yells ow really loud. I find that hilarious I guess cause I'm not used to video game characters showing emotion when they are in pain.  Now some find this game disgusting and the sounds only strengthen their claim. Booger when he farts the farts sound like a machine gun especially if players have him do it to several times in a row. His belching sounds like an actual belch which was nicely done.  The sound he makes when he flicks a booger reminds me of somebody hawking again nicely done. I also like it how players can make Booger say Booger !!!. He has a very good voice when he says that. So whoever did the voices in this game knew what they were doing. I give the sound a very good 9 out of 10.

Replay Value (Addictivness) 8
Okay, I was hesitant at first playing this game cause I did not know what to expect.  It wasn't the booger theme that did it. I thought by the title this game might be more of a joke game. Well I was wrong this game is fun and I have played it again and again. After playing the game just to get a feel for it. I wanted to play the game again and see how far I could go. It also helped that this game has a lot of depth to it. Now with that being said is this game in the same league as Mega Man no. To me Mega Man is its own special series. But when I'm not playing Mega Man and other classic games, then this one is a fun game to play. So I give it a 8 out of 10 in replay value

Depth: 8
I'm sure by the title people including myself would not think this game has a lot of depth to it. Guess what, this game  has a lot of depth to it. They are a lot of secret areas in this game. So I quickly learn that exploring every part of a level is a must to get all the items. Also they are also a lot of items to collect. In fact getting these items requires you to advance to the  next level. So if you miss an item it could cost you. Another thing is the stages are very long which means a lot of areas to cover and a lot of time to complete the levels. The only thing is I wish there would have been more worlds. Boogerman only has about 4 or 5 worlds to it. But they make up for that as each world has like 3 or 4 stages and they are long. I do not think this game has the same depth as Mega Man games. Mega Man games they are lots of items to collect rather it be power ups, energy tanks, and all kinds of weapons to buy or get by beating robot masters. Games like Mega Man have depth that would be a 9 or a 10 on this scale. However Boogerman has a lot of depth to it and it does require time. The depth also adds to the replay value. So I give the depth rating a solid 8 out of 10.

Difficulty: 10
Okay this game was a real bogger, no pun intended in terms of difficulty. This game is very hard and very tough. The long stages and secret areas makes this game tough for sure. But what really makes this game tough is enemy placement. The enemies in this game just love to get cheap shots in by hiding behind trees, hiding in places you cannot see them, and some even hide in trap doors. So you will get hit in this game that is a given. Players will find that they need to take it slow in this game and not rush things. So many times you can be going good only for an enemy to stab you behind a tree. To make things harder you can sometimes only get hit twice in this game and then you lose a life. So going through the stages almost requires perfection. It is best not to get hit in this game. To regain healthy you must pick up capes. The problem is these capes are hard to find and many of them are in areas that require creativity to get. . Another thing that makes the game difficult is the bosses. The bosses in this game are very fast, which will require good reflexes to beat. In addition the platforms in this game are small so time your jumps carefully or you will easily fall into the pits and lose a life.

So Yeah Boogerman is a very tough game. Boogerman requires perfection as you can't afford to get hit much in this game. However due to enemy placement getting hit is a guarantee in this game. Second to get health and items it requires a lot of backtracking, creativity, and timing to get everything. I like games like this that really challenge a player rather it be reflexes, creativity, perfection. This game's difficulty makes it really fun. So its no surprise I give the difficulty a 10 out of 10.

Overall Rating: 8.2
Boogerman came out in the mid 1990's I want to think this game came out around 1995 maybe. However, I never got a chance to play it or buy the game. It wasn't the title that turned me off. This game came out when a lot of my other favorite games were on the market. Such as the Mega Man X games, and the Donkey Kong series. So I saved my money and bought those games. It wasn't till last year I decided to look into this game. I was on you tube one day and saw a suggested video of a long play of Booger Man. I did not really have much to do that day so I watched the video. My impression was this game looks like a fun game. I then found the game on Vizzed and started to play it. So that is how I came across this game even though I have known about it since the 1990's

I really liked this game, I mostly thought it was a comical but good game. I just find that a guy's super power is flicking boogers, belching, and farting as a power to beat enemies is just hilarious. It is something different. I mean Mario has got his fire power item to beat Bowser, Yoshii can eat enemies or throw eggs at them, Donkey kong has strength, and my favorite Mega Man has a buster and weapons he can use.  But Booger has his well boogers lol. Sorry, that gets me every time. This game was overall very good, and it gave me a laugh.

I really liked how the game was made, the graphics as I stated were amazing, the sounds in the game really make the game shine. The depth is good and so is the difficulty. I really like games that have a lot of offer such as high depth and that are challenging. To me it makes the game fun to play again and makes it enjoyable too. I have played games that I do not care about playing again. But this one I have played again. Now do I play it as much as Mega Man. No, Mega Man is my favorite series and a lot of Mega Man games get played over and over again. With all that being said I enjoy different games just to try something different and Boogerman is one of them.

Some were turned off by this game because of the title. So people find this game disgusting. I find it funny as I have stated. But if boogers, farts, or belches make you sick then this game is not for you. Not being mean by no means its just that this game has a lot of bad manners in it. It is not a vulgar game as I did not hear a lot of cussing or adult references. But this game does have a lot of bad manners in it. So if bad manners turns you off then I would not play this game. On the other hand if bad manners such as boogers, farting or belching do not bother you then by all means play this game. Hopefully you will get a laugh out of this game as well as enjoy it as much as I did. Overall I give Booger Man a solid 8.2

Grossest Game Ever Made   rcarter2
When you play your typical SNES game, I doubt the words that come to mind would be flatulence, belching, puss, boogers, and loogies. But as you can imagine from the title alone, Boogerman offers just that. This game is a platform game with the nastiest twist possible. You play to role of Boogerman, the superhero that jumps into Dimension X, which has been transformed into a world where every little kid insult (boogerhead, fart-breath, pizza-face) would be a compliment. As you can gather from "A pick and flick adventure", your main method of attack is to throw your boogers at  your enemies. Along with that, you can hock loogies, burp, fart, or jump (the only traditional platforming aspect of this game) on your enemies. If you want to get in touch with your childhood where bodily functions were the funniest thing in the world, give this game a whirl.
Graphics: 8
As far as your typical 2D platform SNES games go, the graphics are what you would have as a standard for the SNES. But this game had a theme, and the developers did a very good job at going above and beyond that theme in every level. Every aspect of the environment is meant to be gross. In the first world (Flatulence Swamp) everything is covered in slime and snot. Throughout the game, you can jump on little pimples that are growing everywhere for bonus points. Some backgrounds contain random slimy tongues, ears secreting goo, ingrown hairs, and any nasty thing you can think of. Even the ropes you swing on are made of slimy boogers. Each world has it's own little theme, and none of them fail to stay uphold the theme of grossness. The fact that the theme is expressed so well is the reason why this game is rated high, but not rated higher because the graphics are still pretty standard as far as SNES goes.
Sound: 8
The sounds in this game do just what the graphics do. Almost every sound is likely to make you think "eww". You are going to hear a lot of squishing, popping, and toilet flushing in this game.  And when you fart, burp, or hock loogies, you are going to get those sounds. What is even better is that they are so freaking accurate, it is funny. And there is a distinguished sound for the little burps and toots, and the BURPS and FARTS you can do.The music doesn't really follow much of a theme, but honestly, how are you supposed to portray gross bodily functions in background music. The music is a very upbeat and cartoonish, which is also very appropriate, as the graphics are cartoonish as well. The main problem is the fact that the sound effects are very consistent from beginning to end, so the noises lose their grossness effect after a while. You eventually won't notice them anymore.
Addictiveness: 8
I might be giving this a little too high of a rating in addictiveness due to repetitiveness, but I can't help but continue to have fun with such a farce game. It is probably the immature side of me that comes out when I play this game that makes me not get bored with it. Though the actions are repetitive, there uniqueness of this game makes it addictive. I enjoy playing through the different grossly themed worlds, and the bosses are just funny. A boss called Hickman, who is your typical stereotyped redneck with a live chicken as a boomerang/gun is hilarious. But keep in mind, you have to be in the mood for immature mood to play this game.
Story: 6
The bulk of your story is given to you in the beginning of the game. A device was made to save the world by sending all the worlds pollution and waste to Dimension X. A millionaire named Snotty Ragsdale goes undercover as a janitor to investigate the device for any dangers. After sneezing on the device, a hand comes from Dimension X, and snatches a part. Snotty Ragsdale changes into his Boogerman costume, jumps into Dimension X to get the piece back. Interesting little story, but I see one big problem with it (that really isn't a big deal). If Snotty Ragsdale is a millionaire, why can't he afford a better costume. A skin-tight green suit with holes in it, socks with his toes sticking out, and a rag as a cape should not be the superhero outfit of a millionaire. Just saying. But I regress. The story is unique and a good idea, but nothing is done to develop it further until the end, which is always a bummer.
Depth: 5
The depth of this game only goes as far as your typical platform game gives you. You get your opening story in the beginning, your ending story when you beat it, and nothing in between. There are a variety of enemies, environments, and other gross things, but that is about it. But I have to say that the chili pepper is by far the funniest power-up in video game history. You get the chili pepper, and your burps and farts are now also on fire. But that isn't the funny part. You also are able to fly by having flames rocketing you out your rear, propelling you trait up like a rocket ship. During this time, you get a long continuous farting while you fly. Awesome! But other than that, you don't get much variety and the game is pretty short.
Difficulty:6
The game is meant for children, no doubt about it. It is all the things little children hold dear as far as what makes them laugh. Gross is funny. With that comes low difficulty. At first, it is a bit hard to get used to, especially the bosses. But after playing for about 15 minutes, you are pretty much an expert and will fly through this game. It isn't ridiculously easy though. If it weren't for the bosses (which do get easier as you play), it would be exactly mediocre difficulty.
Overall: 7
In conclusion, this game is meant to be funny and get you in touch with your childhood, and this game does just that. Dive into your childhood, and throw away all sense of maturity, and you will have fun with this one. The graphics and sound do a good job at grossing you out. It is strangely addictive, though repetitive. You get a unique story, but it isn't developed vary much. You get a variety that is pretty generic to a lot of platform games, but you also can get a hilarious power-up, and the game isn't very difficult. You should only take about half a hour or less to play through. This game is your average booger throwing, pimple popping, loogie hocking, gas passing fun!
