I want to score this higher but it has a few flaws and really is not my most favorite game. So let's being this reviewGraphics 7Ok I loved the graphics. They were good for the time period this game was designed in. Animal crossing (the American release) came out around the time Nintendo was going from the 64 to the cube. And this game shows elements of both systems. But that is all I can really say that is good. Here is my problem with the game. THE COLOR SCHEME. The colors are just way to bright. They almost look clownish. At least that is what I think. Sound 6Well I have said this in other reviews but I will say it again. I hate game music but I really hate this game music. It is the same annoying song over and over again. Even with the little dog playing his songs, they aren't any better. Addictiveness 5Not very. I can't say that this game has a lot to that draws me back. I do like how time moves and if you go away for say a week or two the characters noticed. Also weeds grow to show how much time has passed. More weeds grow when your not playing. However with the game you quickly run out of things to do. On holidays and certain days there is a bit more to do but beside running around and digging up weeds you really don't have much. Story 4Ok so the story starts out you are moving out on your own and you have to get a house work to pay for it and then nothing. Really nothing. I remember one game I started. I put the theory to the test that you could never pay off your house and nothing would happen. Turns out it was true. Other then working to get a bigger house there isn't much of a story. Some people have said that there is a way to become mayor. But I've had this game since it came out and nothing. I have paid my house off to max level and still nothing. Among other plot lines you can rebuild the museum but the game doesn't give you much of a reason why you should. Other then keeping record of your own collection there is no reason. Depth 5Ok so this game for being a game cube game and being what it was was kind of nice. Sadly that was not very best that could have came out of this game. They could have done so much more and it wasn't until a second Gen of this game had came out did that make use of the gateways. And for the space you are given much of it is unused. I get it is meant to be a village even for a village it is lacking.Difficulty 2With no plot there is nothing for you to do. As I already said the whole point of this game is pay off your house and while at first it may seem hard to do you will quickly learn ways to make money and find the house is paid off in no time. This game is all around lacking.

My biggest issue with this game so far, is only due to the fact that every emulator that I have ever used for this game, is only a translation of the game from Japanese to English. Which means that it's the same thing as Animal Crossing, just their version and not ours, with an English translation for 90% of the game. There are areas where characters talk to you and you can't understand the goal they want you to complete due to the language barrier. Which is understandable considering it's a great game and apparently no one has managed to make a fully compatible version yet. Play it on a test run first. Learning the controls is a pain the rear, but once you got it down it shouldn't be a problem. Saving was easy with this one, however, when I went back to play some more, it goes to the screen that says your clock is fragile and not working....etc.  I am going to attempt this game again in a couple of minutes to see if my save file is useable, if so then I'll be playing it on a regular basis.

Review for Animal Forest   elzbth
Animal forest otherwise known as Dobutsu no Mori is a great game to play with the translation to English. Its an addicting game for some people and it will make you want to play the game every day just to see what's changed. In the game Animal Forest you get to experience how it would be in a real life town. The graphics are pretty good for the fact that it is hacked a whole lot. You  can make friends with the animals in your village, help them run chores  and send them letters. Your player can collect fish, bugs, and fruit  and sell them for money then pay off and upgrade your house. Once you  have enough money fill it with furniture, take part in a monthly raffle,  celebrate Japanese holidays, buy clothes, cut down and plant trees, and more.

This is a work-in-progress translation project for Doubutsu no Mori or Animal Forest aka Animal Crossing. Animal Forest is a social simulation video game series developed and published by Nintendo, in which the player lives in a village inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, carrying out various activities. The series is notable for its open-ended gameplay and extensive use of the game systems' internal clock and calendar to simulate real passage of time. Not only does it appear to convert the game to English, but a lot of information is also contained within it. It still needs some work, but a lot of hacking work appears to have been done on the game.
