Aladdin: an Unappreciated work of art   kirbytycoon
When
you hear the word "Aladdin” does your mind drift to the classic Disney
movie where Aladdin falls in love with the beautiful jasmine? Or maybe you would
recall the Arab folktale Aladdin and the magic lamp. For me I think of a game, a
game that I barely remember buying at eight years old.  Although this game can not compare to today’s
technology and graphics, it is still one of the greatest games I have ever
played.

Graphics:

Like
I said before its no HD award winning game play but for its time it was one of
the best. The characters are easily recognizable from the classic Disney cartoon.
The transitions are smooth and the animations are top notch. The monsters are intriguing
and appealing to look at and it has some of the best stage settings. But just
to warn you, the mood changes quickly from “oh sweet” to “oh crap!” in a matter
of seconds.

Sound:

For
its time Aladdin has the best sound I have ever heard. Each movement of enemy
or hero is personified threw your speakers to give you a realistic game play
experience. Without sound effects and captivating boss battle music the game
would be little to nothing.

Addictiveness:

After
a couple of levels you might just want to put you controller down and play
something more interesting. To really get into the game you have to come back
to it. If I had not played this game has a child I wouldn't’t have even given
this game a second chance. I feel like to fully appreciate this game you have
to relive some of you past life. For me Aladdin basically takes my childhood
and rubbed it all over the screen creating this collage of mixed emotions.

Story:

Who
here can sit down and watch a Disney movie and not be entertained in the
slightest? Aladdin will drag you into its basic but attention-grabbing story plunging
you into an adventure. The point of the game is clear and the characters are
spot on. You either learn to love the characters spending precious hours of
your life unraveling your hidden desires in the game and uncovering the meaning
of life. Heck you may even cure cancer! Or you will learn to hate and despise
each character for there flaws and dim-witted decisions.

Depth:

The
game is not a 5 minute play and run. It takes some time to navigate threw each
level but the rewards are worth it. If you’re an avid gamer and it isn’t your
first time at the rodeo than saddle up for one of the best games of your life. My
first time took me a whopping three months to complete. (Than again I was 8 at
the time). Today at 15 it only took me 2 days. (About 10 hours overall) I am
pretty sure though on my third play through I can knock it out to about 2 hours.
This is of course is if your going full out and 100% completing it. If you’re
just going for the adventure and overall feel it, depending on you game
experience, it could take one to seven hours.

Difficulty:

This
is a game that will keep you up all night only to throw the controller out the
window because YOU CAN’T FREAKIN’ GET THE GEM! The game will take you beaten
soul and beat it again after failing multiple times. One simple mistake and it
once again smacks you down right at the start to relive the torment you hoped
to avoid. But if you know what your doing and know how to adapt to controls and
environment its worth playing. It takes skill to conquer the steep cliffs and fiery
ledges. But the satisfaction at the end of the level will always leave you with
a smile on your face.
over all I would highly recommended this game if you know how to play. its fun and entertaining and I would play it again and again. but don't take my word for it.
see for yourself.

Aladdin A Story of 1001 Nights   justinfeena1
Aladdin
In this game for the Super Nintendo you play, of course, the famous orphan from Agrabah. Aladdin is in company with his little monkey Abu and the two have to fight against Jafarh.
Gameplay:
The Gameplay is very simple. It's a typical jump'n'run like Super Mario Bros. You're walking, jumping and climbing through different stages. On the way through the stages you can collect diamonds (100 diamonds and you get an extra life), food to heal yourself and golden scarabs. When you collect a golden scarab then there comes the ginie roulette (one of my postet screenshots)where you can get an extra continue, extra life or health.
Graphics/Stages:
The stages of Aladdin are very creative an beautiful. Some of them, like the ginie stage (postet screenshot), look very fantastic and colourful. The first stages are quite easy but then they get harder (postet screenshot). The last stages are much more difficult then the first ones but you can handle them. And because of the beauty of the game and the simple gameplay you want to try it over and over again.
Sound:
The sound of Aladdin isn't very memorable. Some of the melodies are okay but you forget many of them very soon. But they are not annoying.
Conclusion:
Aladdin on the Super Nintendo is a good and simple jump'n'run, with great looking stages and a big addictiveness. Unfortunately it has no memorable sound, a flat story and not much to offer. The difficulty is okay and it's easier than the Aladdin on Sega Genesis.

Aladdin   Jynx
I'm gonna be honest, I haven't seen the Aladdin movie in forever. But I did play the game a lot. So I guess I can give an opinion on that.
So how are the graphics?
The graphics are really good. The sprites look like they're taken straight out of the movie. Animation is really smooth too. I have to say, my favorite animation is when Aladdin jumps on an enemy. Yeah, yeah, jumping on enemies, it's been done a thousand times. But how many people do you know wanted someone dead so bad as to not only jump on them, but do a flip right on their heads? Yeah, bet'cha you'll never see Mario do that.
Yeah, the jumping animation is nice and all, but what do you think of the music?
I think it's really nice. If I'm not mistaken this does use music from the movie. Which is nice.
This game sounds great. How often do you play it?
Well, it's not my daily routine or anything, but this game is AWESOME. Man, this game is like an analogy I can't come up with! Isn't that fantastic!?
I guess there's no point asking about story, since this is a movie game, so how hard is it?
This game will beat you down, and you'll love it! It's hard, but somehow it never gets me too frustrated to the point of rage-quitting. Which says a lot since I can't get past the second cave level.
So play it. Just play it. Right now. Really. 9.1 out of 10. GOOOOOOOOOOO

An actual game based on a movie that didnt fail   Jinx98
Introduction
Hello to all those reading my 4th review and this time I've made sure I knew how many this time. This time I'm doing a review for a game I have a lot of history with and that's Aladdin for the Super Nintendo.
When I was about 6 or 7 years old and living with my mother and her boyfriend, at some point his brothers son came to visit for a little while and he brought some of games with him. Those games were Donkey Kong Country and the other of course was Aladdin. He told me how the game use to make him upset and how his mother didn't like the fact he was getting angry at it. I suppose he was stuck in the cave of wonders which I will speak more of in a moment.
Anyway after a couple days, I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, but he left his copy of the game with me and I guess you can say I became the owner of the game from than on out. About 18 years later I still own this game and the Super Nintendo to play this on and every blue moon I still play it for sport. Don't let my play run of the game fool you. I'm a lot better on the home system than playing it on the computer dealing with lag and a stiff controller.[Yes its a very good excuse].
Difficulty
I gave this game a five in difficulty for a reason. If you have a lot of trouble with this game, not trying to be mean, but maybe you are not simply trying hard enough. Than again, I kinda take that back. The game is a lot more challenging if you lack one key item. The sheet! Which is pretty much a must have item when playing this game, because it gives you so much control over where you fall or jump. To be honest I can't really find myself playing without it as I have a habit of using even when its clear I'm safe and when I don't have it, my play run pretty much falls to pieces quick fast in a hurry. The most noticeable place where its usually needed is, in Genie world stages one to two where you got to get across the bridge and where you have to jump for the genie face box platforms where there's long range between where you need to land and truth be told, your jumping in this game is already horrible. The only other place that's somewhat hard to get pass, is in the Cave of Wonders where you attempt to escape on the magic carpet, while avoiding the lava and falling stones. If you get pass this, the hardest part of the game is over.
There are very few bosses in this game and they are all super easy. There is the market guy, Jafar and Jafar in snake form. Not sure what Nintendo or the creators of the game was thinking, but this game had so much potential that was never tapped into. Was it out of laziness or was it to go easy on the kids that played it? Can't really say. I mean just look at them...The fact there is only three and they are not even hard, takes down the value of this game.
The market place boss. Simply stand behind a barrel, let him slash away, quick jump on his head than quickly move right back behind the barrel. This boss hasn't hit me in like sixteen years. Only up to recently he finally managed to hit me, when I was getting use to my online super Nintendo controller. That would have never happened on my home system.
Than there is Jafar. Ok maybe I have to give him a tiny bit more credit. Hes a challenge when he spams you to death with mobs of enemies. Besides that fighting him is no brain common sense and again the SHEET can be a be factor if you worry about aim. Bounce off his head using the staff, get to the far end of a screen and allow him to fire off his lightening. The mobs Jar spams is not much of a issues either unless they manage to out number you and even than, they can be dismissed pretty fast with the quick throw of a apple.
Than there is the final boss of the game, Jafar after he transforms into a gigantic snake. Now when most people usually think of the final boss, they think of this epic, hard as heck enemy that you need to beat because its the only thing between you and completing the game. That's not the case at all with this boss as he is as predictable as watching paint dry, so much so a kid could pick up on how to beat him right away because advertises when to attack him and makes it pretty easy too.
I give the game difficulty with out a slow fall sheet, a 7 out of 10, but with the slow fall sheet a 5 out of 10.
Story
This game is based on the 90's Disney movie Aladdin, so game is pretty much following the exactly same story with a tiny bit extra tossed in to give the player or players a bit more to do.
As the story goes, its about a homeless kid named Aladdin [nicknamed street rat by the royal guards] whom makes his living in the market place and is on the run from the guards because he steals food. Sometimes for him and other times for those that can't defend for themselves. After helping princess Jasmine whom has run from home because shes being forced to marry men she doesn't love because of a law, he is soon captured finally by the guards and Princess Jasmine is returned home.
Once there, Jasmine tired to explain the situation of the man whom saved her, but Jarfar had her believe that he was to be beheaded. Little did she know, Jafar had other plans himself for Aladdin, since he learned he was the chosen one whom could enter the Cave of Wonders safely and retrieve the magic lamp. Jafar later visits the dungeons and tells Aladdin about the Cave of Wonders under the disguise of a bum. When Aladdin agrees to enter the cave, Jafar frees him and they head off to the desert.
Once there Jafar, puts the beetle pieces together and summons the Cave of Wonders. The tiger like head warns Aladdin, he may touch nothing but the lamp. Once inside with his pet money Abu, they find a place full of gold and jewels. Abu is overly fascinated with what he sees and Aladdin has to make sure he behaves himself. They soon meet carpet, that helps guide Aladdin to the lamp. Abu soon has over plans when he sees and falls in love with the biggest red diamond he has ever seen. Carpet tries to hold him back but soon loses his grip of Abu's tail. Abu had broken the one rule on not touching anything but the lamp, and as punishment, the entire cave began melting into lava. With the help of the magic carpet, Aladdin and abu just barely make it back to the surface where Jafar is waiting and demands he gives him the lamp first in return for pulling him to safety. Once Aladdin does hand over the lamp, Jafar attempts to betray him as he takes out a hidden dagger. Abu sees whats going on and bites his hand, causing him to let go of both the lamp and Aladdin.
Aladdin finds himself being awoken by Abu in hopes hes still alive. Aladdin does but they are all still trapped underground. Attempting to use the lamp as a light source, Aladdin rubs the lamp. Unknowing to him he had become the master of a Genie that was inside the lamp. After explaining the rules to him, Aladdin not wanting to use any of his wishes, tricks the genie into getting them all out of the underground desert. Genie takes everyone to a nearby island where Aladdin once again convinces him without using any of his three wishes, to make him a prince in order to impress the princess Jasmine. Under the name prince Ali, Aladdin barges in to the palace, where Jafar fails to keep him out. Jafar is not happy of the arrival of new competition to princess Jasmine's marriage, because he had to switch to plan b when he thought he lost his only opportunity to power the lamp. As the arguments commence between Aladdin and Jafar with the Sultan, over whom is better suited to take Jasmines hand in marriage, she soon over hears whats going on and makes it clear that shes not a prize to be won.
Aladdin later on goes back in the middle of the night, still under prince Ali, two woo Jasmine again. This time he convinces her, to take a magic carpet ride with her where they fly over the city in the middle of the night and see it from a view they never could before. As they sit and talk, Jasmine soon notices she has seen prince Ali before, snatching his hat off and confirming that he's Aladdin, whom saved her in the market place. Keeping the lie going, Aladdin tells her he likes to go into town undercover so others won't realize hes actually a prince. After Aladdin takes Jasmine back to the palace and receives a passionate kiss, he sets off into the night with carpet. As he day dreams, hes captured by the guards by the order of Jafar, tied up, gagged and thrown into the bottom of the sea, where Genie has to save him, because he can't save himself.
Aladdin returns to the palace, and tells Jasmine and the sultan, about how he tired to have him killed and about him controlling the sultan with his staff. Jafar is than removed of his title and thrown out the palace. Jafar soon realizes, prince Ali is actually Aladdin and if hes still alive that means he's been using the lamp the entire time.
Just before the ceremony to announce Aladdin's marriage to Jasmine, he has a change of heart feeling bad that the relationship was based on a lie. When Aladdin breaks his promise to Genie that he would wish him free, during an argument, he leaves Genie in his lamp under a pillow to go to Jasmine. Iago however watching closely, sneaks in and steals it for Jafar. With Genie now under his command, he uses his power to expose Aladdin for a liar, ends of the earth and taking complete control of Agrabah.
Out in the freezing cold of nowhere, Aladdin manages to find carpet whom is stuck. After getting it free, he heads back to Agrabah where he gets into a battle with Jafar, who's magic gives him an huge advantage. Aladdin tricks Jafar into telling Genie he wanted to be an all powerful genie himself and earning himself imprisonment within his own lamp. After things settle down, Aladdin apologizes to Jasmine for lying about whom he is. The sultan with a change of heart, changes the law allowing Jasmine to marry whom ever she wants. She chooses Aladdin and they become engaged. Aladdin also finally keeps his promise and wishes Genie free, allowing him to see the world.
I gave the story a 10 out of 10
Depth
Aladdin is a straight forward game, where you need to simply survive in order to beat the level. I never played the Sega version, but from what I heard, the Nintendo version is a bit longer. The Sega version however does allow you to actually use Aladdin's sword, over throwing lame apples and simply stunning your enemy's. There is however a tiny bit more to the game if you collect enough red jewels, but I'll leave it at that.
I give the depth a 7 out of 10
Addictiveness
If you need a good time killer, I strongly suggest this game for you. It's not so much fun and has a lot of features to it that will keep to playing over and over none stop, but it's fun enough on it's own to sooner or later call you back, just because you want to get to the ending again. As I said already, I return to the game every blue moon to beat the game for sport, so I'm a witness.
I give the addictiveness a 7 out of 10
Graphics
The graphics for this game is pretty good. This is the Super Nintendo and games around this time were attempting to step it up on the details. Now if were to judge the sega look and Super Nintendo look however, the Sega is much more superior in terms of details, but that's not enough to keep you away from this game.
I gave the graphics a 8 out of 10
Sound
This game has good sound and makes you think of the sound of the movie, as each stage has its own certain theme. One example being Genies stage uses a background sound of the song "You ain't never had a friend". The sound effects are right on as well, such as hearing the smack when a apple hits someone or Jafar as a snake hissing when he attempts to strike you.
The sound gets a 8 out of 10

Aladin   Totts
Disney as a significant monster of a machine with its immense proportions has thrown many good character animated productions at the film going public. One of the greatest successes for the Empire was Aladdin from 1992. As it should be for a modern company, emphasis is also at Disney has always been on a winning the award on all current consoles for above all small and large players. Of course this also applies to the massive hit Aladdin, which is to be discussed here for the Super Nintendo.
A nicely illustrated intro introduces you into play Aladdin, his wonderful companion Abu, Princess jasmine, and Genie. I'll save myself here decidedly retelling the story. The goal of the game is to survive it to eliminate the evil, Jafar in the final rendition and in the final classic level. Roughly based on the plot of the film, the story of intermediate images is retold in the game constantly. While the complete setting is thematically in the Oriental region. So runs one of marketplaces, explore ancient temples and jumps through the Interior of the magic lamp. As an opponent, archers, Saber oscillator and other minions of Jafar keep ago in the first place, as also his Parrot Iago. The Genie is the host of opponents by duration of bombardment with apples and swords on it jumping. Abu, following you at every turn is always on your side. Genie has unfortunately only a role playing techniques and occurs only in bonus sequences in appearance, which are based on roulette. He is also omnipresent in the inside of the lamp in many graphic elements. This level is extremely, but represents a nice change. A further nice goody is the carpet level in which you must flying avoiding obstacles on the carpet. All in all created this issue a very dense atmosphere, which is still supported by the little annoying music.
The difficulty is moderate and is defused in addition by a password system. There is of course a rule continues.
The image is pretty to look at and with very entertaining animation of the hero and the opponents of the host. Sometimes there are also quite nice scrolling background, if pass multiple levels of houses in a row. The intermediate images are beautifully drawn, pull out the console but no leg and could be measured by the technical possibilities of the Super Nintendo's spectacular.
All in all a nice Disney skip that has many beautiful approaches, especially in the graphic area where a high level of expectations remains.
