Very Short but funWelcome dear Vizzed peoples!
Today, I'm doing my second review! (My first one was on Kirby Pinball Land for GB (Game Boy)
Before we start, I just want to let you know some things:
1. English is not my first language. Be prepared to see a lot of grammar error.
2.I know I'm like the only person who played this game but I'm just gonna make a review *cough* I want some Viz *cough* for fun.
-------------Graphics---------------------------
By just looking at the title screen, you can already tell that the game is gonna look amazing, and it does look amazing! Both colors palettes of the Overworld and the Cave are well chosen, the background and the cave music just give it a mysterious feeling of adventure.Without those, the level would just look like a normal plain with nothing interesting.
-------------Sounds-------------------------------
Just like I said in the graphics, the sound is amazing. The overworld theme make you feel like in an actual desert where you have no one, nothing but yourself in this isolated place. The 1st part of the level has some music with a adventure feeling and the 2nd part of the level is....well normal, but still a thousands times better than the SMW Cave theme.
-------------Addictiveness--------------------
This game would have been a whole lot more addictive if there was more then just ONE level. What I'm saying is that some parts are repetitive like the vine climbing but all of those parts are different like the first vine obstacle is just about jumping at a certain moment but the later vine obstacles get even harder, just like the Spin jumping obstacle. If you are like me, you will notice and like that difficulty change, while having a bunch of other new obstacles.
----------------Story--------------------------
There's not really a story. Its just Mario walking around in the desert and for some reasons, he want to go in a cave with a treasure in it. Nothing else to say about that.
------------------------Depth------------------------------
This game is VERY VERY VERY short. There is only one level with two exits, one being the normal exit and the other being the secret exit which was incredibly easy to find and the only thing else to do is get all the dragon coins. Nothing else to do, so you will probably replay the level 4 times and already get 100% on your file. Unless the creator had no more ideas, why would the hack stop here? Why no more levels or secrets? Why only 3 things to do? It would be nice to have at least a bonus room but no. None of theses.
-----------------------Difficulty-------------------------------
Remember when I said this was a balance of easy and hard? Well I remove what I said. Actually, its easy at the start but challenging at the end (not if I use save states) and the hard part is basically just seven obstacle. I mean its not really a Kaizo anymore if a noob like me can beat it. Having only three things to do means less playing to do. Less playing to do means less fun.
Overall
The visuals are great but the level design is not really so great. Like I said a thousands of times, ITS TOO SHORT! No one like it when you play games that you have to pay to play but end up leaving it after 15 minutes. If this game has one level, then it should at least have more secrets to discover, more challenges while playing (ex: Collect all the red coins) and at least a bonus room. Any kind of good bonus room will do it, anything to reward you for playing like a credit place or something but don't give the player a MUSHROOM if he's not even gonna play anymore!
