I'm a Caat~   Snu
Repetition is something that's been used a lot in the video game industry these days, particularly with Nintendo. Every
mainstream game that's come out lately either seems to be a remake, a bland sequel, or a borderline copy-paste game. This is my big problem with the New Super Mario Bros. series. They all feel the same to me. But this isn't about those games. This is about the first game to come out in a while that feels fresh. Super Mario 3D World. Is it the same basic premise of most Mario games these days? Yes, but it executes the idea much better and gives a much needed update to the formula. How so, you may ask? Well let's just find out, shall we?
Graphics 10/10
This game looks amazing. The models are clean, the animations fluid, and the background is clean and colourful. Nintendo is 100% aware of it too. During various points in the overworlds (and a good chunk of stages) there are little points that serve no other purpose except to either: A) Show off the graphics (This is mostly in the overworld) or B) Give you an idea of what's ahead (Pretty much just the stages).
They have a right to be proud, though. Even just watching the final boss is quite something. It might not be hard but
it is beautifully cinematic.
One of my favourite places to look at however is probably the final overworld of the game (bar the bonus worlds). It
is incredibly vibrant and just so much fun to look at, especially if you stand by the entrance and turn the camera so that you have a third person view of it.
Even such small things as the power-ups and enemies look perfect. I cannot find a pixel out of place in this game, and
Nintendo deserves some applause for it.
Sound 10/10
I hope you like jazzy tunes, because this game has them in spades. From the Athletic theme (Which is my absolute
favourite athletic theme) to Double Cherry Pass to the Hisstocrats. This game has so many amazing tunes. My personal favourite is probably The Great Tower Showdown. My only real complaint is that they re-use the songs much too often.
The sound effects are fairly subtle, but they do their job very well, and fill in the little voids that music can't cover up.
As for voice clips, the enemies sound the same as they always have. The characters and the Sprixies sound generic and unintelligible as always, but they added in this cute little thing where if you finish the stage with the cat suit, then the character will actually say 'Meow' instead of the usual 'Woohoo' or 'Yeah!'. Insignificant? Yeah. Freakin' Adorable? You bet!
Addictiveness 7/10
This game is addicting in a fun, simple way. There's no gimmicks to lure you into playing forever, there's nothing super special for completing the game 100% or anything like that. It's just simple fun that makes you go, 'Oh man, that was a great stage! Let's see if the next one is that great!' or, 'That stage was awful. Maybe the next one is better' or even a simple 'ARGH! I missed a collectible! Back in the stage for me!' The thing that keeps you going back is just having fun with the game, whether it be through racing against other Miis, or finding those little hidden spots in every stage. Everything in this game has something to offer and really, what more could you ask for?
Depth 4/10
As I said before, 3D World is very simple. You run, jump, float, swim and climb your way to the end of every stage, where you then try to get to the top of the flagpole in order to beat the stage. That's about it. However, the game still tries to shake things up using the WiiU gamepad. In certain stages you actually need to tap certain spots to open sliding doors, raise platforms or tap Gongs in order to progress. Or if one enemy is really bugging you, you can just tap the nuisance in order to stun it.
In 3D World you also need the WiiU gamepad's mic in order to progress through certain parts. There are certain platforms throughout the game that only move when you blow on them. If you blow on the screen, you can even shake dandelions to reveal coins. It's sort of cool. My only complaint is that the tapping tends to disrupt the flow of the gameplay and the blowing isn't much better.
Story 3/10
Unless it's one of the RPGs, Mario games aren't known for deep, involving stories. This one is no exception.
Super Mario 3D World starts off with Mario, Peach, Luigi and Blue Toad taking a midnight stroll when they come across this broken clear pipe (Is it glass? Or Plastic? Who knows!). The Mario Bros. do their official job for what is probably the first time ever and fix it, leading to all sorts of power-ups flying out, followed by a cute little green fairy thing called a Sprixie. The poor Sprixie is distressed and is in the middle of explaining why (via a cute little picture) when Bowser shows up and takes the Sprixie back into the pipe. The heroes go in after Bowser and begin their quest to save the Sprixies and their kingdom from Bowser's tyranny.
Now, here's the thing. The story never changes, nothing new happens, it's just an excuse plot. They never explain WHY he's kidnapping Sprixies either. Is it just for the evulz? Does he want magical Sprixie dust to fly around with? Is he jealous of his son's bug collection and he wants his own collection? It's never elaborated upon and it just annoys me to no end.
Difficulty 6/10
Super Mario 3D World doesn't start out hard at all. This game is good about easing you into the game and it has a nice,
simple learning curve. It stays fairly lenient right up until the final world. By then, you've begun to die, which is fair, since it's the final world and all. But then, you beat the game, you start up your file again and get into... The bonus worlds. Holy Eldstar, these worlds are ridiculous. World Star isn't too bad and World Mushroom is only a little bit worse but World Flower and Crown are hell. If you manage to make it through these levels without dying once, you deserve serious applause. Level Crown-Crown in particular is an absolute monster, even without going for the green stars! At least it's the last level in the game, though.
The bosses, however, are incredibly easy. They all have predictable attack patterns, easy to figure out weak spots and easy to dodge attacks. Not only that, but even when they're reused with slightly different moves they're still way too easy to beat.
Things not covered above
     - Pretty much every stage in every bonus world (bar crown-crown) is a harder rehash of a previous stage.
+ The Captain Toad Stages are few, but amazing. They act as more of a puzzle, so if you want to really use your brain give them a shot.
+ The Mystery Houses are basically marathons of various tasks that you have 10 seconds to complete. These are actually pretty challenging, but fun at the same time.
+ The over worlds reward exploration with either hidden 1-ups, hidden Toad Houses, or even a few hidden levels.
     - If you want to beat the game 100%, you need to get every green star, get every stamp, get a golden flag in every stage AND beat every stage with every character. It gets sort of repetitive unless you REALLY like the game.
+ Every character has their own gameplay characteristics. Mario is the all around type of guy, Luigi can jump the highest but he still has his slippery shoes, Peach is the slowest but she can float, Toad is the fastest but he can't really jump and the secret character can jump higher than Luigi and spin, but they are even slower than Peach.
+ The multiplayer still isn't the best, but it's much better than other Mario platformers. The game is a linear open world platformer as opposed to a 2D sidescroller so everyone has room to move without jumping on each other and killing themselves.

Overall, this game is probably one of the best Mario games to come out in a while. However, it still isn't perfect which is why this game gets my rating of 7.5/10.

SUPERMARIO 3D WORLD!!!   golgo 14
TITLE: SUPER MARIO 3-D WORLD SYSTEM: Wii U BY: Golgo 14

I N N I N T E N D O W E T R U S T...
The first time I played Super Mario Bros, my life changed forever. It encapsulated an experience so fun, playful, innocent, mysterious, challenging the expectations I had for what a game should be.It reminded me no matter how tough life would get that it would always bring me joy and bring a smile back to my face..I felt the same way after Super Mario 3 was released and was the only kid on the block(or in my school for that matter) to aquire the Japanese import version that I picked up at a local vendor at a flea market for one hundred dollars. After I beat it, I shared it with all of my friends who weren't able to fit in my house during after school play sessions that I hosted. It made everyone that played it so happy , and it continues to always get mentioned everywhere when gamers discuss their best experiences they have ever had with a game.As usual, I'm probably the underdog on this one but in my humble opinion,Super Mario World was the last Mario game that I considered to rival the ingenuity, the creativity, the genius of Super Mario 3 the greatest Mario game of all time and ALMOST beat it but didn't quite topple it..still,over the years as Mario evolved into the 3rd dimension, I noticed some wonderful ideas but just could't put my finger on why I didn't get the same feeling I had with Super Mario 3 , and Super Mario World. The release of the NEW Super Mario Bros series on the DS and Wii always held my interest AND WERE REALLY GREAT but felt like(here comes all the BOOO's)they were just trying to hard to please the casual gamer and felt shorter, less challenging, less original..still GREAT GAMES IN THEIR OWN RIGHT..but lacked that challenge,(though Super Luigi for Wii U is a great challenge believe me!!) originality, ingenuity and genius that made Super Mario 3 MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME....and now many, many years later here we have Super Mario 3-d World on Wii U.Will Nintendo finally meet my lofty expectations? Has the game finally come from Nintendo that has been fined tuned for years, that learned from its slight missteps on a mission to grab the attention of all Mario fans , young and old? To redefine what a gamer can expect from a Mario title..

GRAPHICS: 10 Nintendo really out did themself here. The design, use of color and texture is so eloquent, so exquisite, so full of that old school vibe..yet, beautifully modernized in a way that really immersed me, and for the first time in YEARS...I was AWESTRUCK AT A MARIO GAME!! The camera never gets in the way because the perspective is not directly behind you during exploration,QUASHING ANY PROBLEMS I EVER HAD WITH A 3D MARIO GAME ! You NEVER have to manipulate it so you can enjoy the game without any obstruction whatsoever! 2d classic old school Mario stages that I can only describe as NOSTALGIA BOMBS!!factor into the entire design making each stage feel like the best of what Nintendo learned from the modern Mario MIXED with everything they mastered from the classics . Look really close and you will see that the classic design they seem to channel the most is in fact the great SUPER MARIO 3.The whole gang looks AMAZING and every stage is modelled with clear detail showcasing the years of love, passion and wonder the big N has gained over the years!!
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MARIO GAME EVER!!!
SOUND/MUSIC: 10 Nintendo has shocked me with what is quite possibly the most BRILLIANT collection of tracks I've ever heard from a Mario title. A beautiful, epic mixture of modern and classic compositions inject that fun, playful adventurous tone that bops along to each stage laced with infectious, jazzy undertones that never leave you..Kudos also to the sound effects that sell each 'plop' of a turtle shell or hearing you're little claws dig rapidly up the side of a cliff as you climb to safety. The sound design Nintendo has presented is nothing short of the greatest work they have ever done.
GAMEPLAY/CONTROL: 10 This is the big one folks... the most crucial element...the magic..everything that the designers set out to accomplish comes down to this...First of all, THANK YOU NINTENDO for doing what I felt the impossible... recapturing what I felt the first time I played Super Mario 3 . A new sense of wonder and freshness are everywhere to be found. From sliding inside of a giant ice skate to the ADORABLE design and implementation of the new catsuit. everything feels just so sublime,so perfect.. the way a classic Mario title should..the way a modern Mario title should and have captured both in a way that actually brings a tear to my eye. Additionally,Nintendo has finally done it!!! AMAZING MARIO MULTIPLAYER THAT'S NOT MARIO PARTY And for the first time I feel playing with another player at the same time is actually quite amazing and would have never done it differently(though things get a little too crazy for me after more than 3 people at once). I feel if I describe EVERYTHING it will spoil the experience for you. Just know this..flawless victory NINTENDO!!!!
Challenge: 7 Super Mario 3d World is no LOST LEVELS or the PUNISHING SUPER HARDCORE LUIGI WII U .It presents some intermediate challenge but i feel if it was as difficult as those two, it would not have the appeal it rightly deserves. For once I agree for Nintendo not making this overly challenging and in no way does the intermediate challenge take away ANYTHING Nintendo was going for here.It also makes this more fun to play with your friends!!
CONCLUSION : Super Mario 3d world has made me a strong believer that Nintendo has been listening to their fans over time and as a result has created the first Mario game in years that ALL Nintendo fans can brag about again. It merges a perfect blend of classic game play and new school sensibilities and presents many fresh ideas that evoked that sense of awe and discovery that this gamer felt many years ago.So it gives me great pleasure that I'm proud to report Super Mario 3d World has my blessing to share the crown with Super Mario Bros 3 to have become the GREATEST PAIR OF SUPER MARIO TITLES EVER !!
BRAVO NINTENDO!!!! 10/10 Game of the year 2013 !!!!

Super Mario 3D World Review: MEOW   Lexatom
Due to the success of Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS, Nintendo wanted to make another title in the "3D" series of games. This title is called Super Mario 3D World and it was released for the Wii U on November 21, 2013. Was it any good? Let's find out.
Graphics: 10
Being on the first fully HD console, Super Mario 3D World's graphics are phenomenal. Heck, I even adore the backgrounds, and I don't pay attention to backgrounds a lot. My favorite background in the game has to be that one with the nice sunset. It looks AMAZING. All the models in this game are clean to the max. Every single one of them. This game looks amazing.
Sound: 9
The music in this game is also very good. Each song fits whatever settings you're in and what scenario is taking place. I find Super Mario 3D World to have a broader soundtrack than Super Mario 3D Land, and I like this one more than the original. The original mostly had these weird trumpet sounding things that I hated. I don't hear them in this game, which is good. There's not really a lot more I can say with this category.
Addictiveness: 9
Super Mario 3D World is the most addicting Mario game I have ever played. No matter how many lives I lose, I keep coming back to try and beat the level I'm stuck on. Seriously, I lost 50 lives in one level before. This game can get really hard. It's also more fun with multiple players. This is the first 3D Mario game in the series where you can play with multiple people at once, and it does it pretty well. It's a lot of fun! I also enjoy looking around for the collectibles, but we'll get more into that in the Depth section of this review.
Story: 4
This is, by far, my least favorite story in any Mario game to ever exist. I despise it so much. Mario games aren't known for having intricate stories, and this game is no different. However, they introduced new characters in this game, Sprixies. The story is that Bowser kidnapped the Sprixies and you need to save them all. They wouldn't be so bad if they weren't SO FREAKIN' ANNOYING. I hate them soooo much. They are just an excuse to be able to play as Peach in this game, it's ridiculous. I'm giving this section a 4 because Mario games aren't really known for epic stories or anything.
Depth: 9
This game has a lot of depth to it, and I think it's the most depth in a Mario game that I've seen. There are several collectibles in almost every level, and there are bonus levels scattered across the maps. Most of the levels each contain 3 green stars and 1 stamp. If you're going for 100% completion, you also need to get all gold flagpoles in all the levels. There is a TON to do in this game, and I love it to death.
Difficulty: 8
Like I said above earlier, this game can get really hard depending on where you are in the game. The game is really simple from around World 1 to World 3, when it starts getting a bit harder. Then from World 4 to the last world of the main game, it gets pretty tense. The extra levels after that are HARD. Like, really hard. As I said, I once lost 50 LIVES just because of ONE level. Imagine the pain I was going through. Yeah, if you die in a level enough the game basically gives you a free invincibility with the Golden Leaf. However, I refuse to use that, because it's the cheapest thing in the history of anything ever.
Overall: 9
Super Mario 3D World is a fan favorite from what I've seen. Yeah, the Sprixies are the most annoying thing ever and I want to kill them all, but everything else in the game is pure fun. This is probably the most fun I've had with a Mario game, and I'm tempted to say that it's my favorite in the series. I'm not sure if it is, but if not, then it's pretty close. I definitely recommend Super Mario 3D World for any owner who just wants to play a really fun game.

Its great!   Snorp02
This game is great!!! Its the first 3d multiplayer Mario 3d platformer! That by itself makes it a great game but this game also has some really great graphics. Its really good to see a super Mario bros game in HD (not counting new Super Mario Bros U) The story is ok... its really the same story as always except now some fairies sorry Sprixies has been kidnapped  instead of Peach. The soundtrack is great that is really all I can say about that... The game is pretty short because of how easy it is (Or I am just a really good gamer.) I think I would replay this game not just because its short and I like replaying games but because the most important part its FUN!

Because Super Mario 3D LAND wasn't enough!   supersonicracin..
So... Super Mario 3D World, I've been waiting a while to review this masterpiece. This game is a sequel to the 3DS launch title, Super Mario 3D Land, released in 2011. The game had hypes and high hopes, and they did come true. The game was rated with almost perfect ratings, even some had rated it a perfect game! Joystiq rated it the best rating, 5 stars, and Nintendo World Report rated it a 10/10. Also, this is my first FULL length review of a game.
Graphics: 9
Okay, so, if you haven't seen the game yet (which is almost impossible) then, I'll tell you about it. Beautiful. Just amazing. Nintendo went all out on the graphics here. The characters are all amazing looking (Peach is an exception with the cross eyed face ;3), just looking at this game made me know that Nintendo didn't rush a bit on this and took their sweet time. This game is by far the best game showcasing what the Wii U can handle (Well, the new Zelda game does, but that isn't playable yet.). My eyes were just blown away by the graphics, Nintendo, good job.
Sound: 10
You would've possibly expected a 10, well, because the soundtrack is perfectly composed, the main theme of this soundtrack is jazzy and catchy music, and what they made doesn't disappoint at all! The soundtrack perfectly captures the mood of each level, heck, even the credits theme is the most jazzy I've ever heard and I love it! Even the YouTube community made their own remixes and mash ups of the soundtrack!
Like the one I'm hearing while writing this review, Throwback 3D World 64! Perfect music.
Addictiveness: 9
Too obvious, wasn't it? The game had me playing for hours on end, also, at this point of the review, I'd like to say something, this game is the first 3D Mario game to be 4-player co-op. And the co-op does not disappoint! I had a few friends over JUST to play this game in co-op! Though I have 1 minor complaint, they could've added 5 player co-op, because you have to use the GamePad, and 3 wii remotes for 4-player co-op. What about the 4th Wii Remote, Nintendo? :c
Story: 7
2nd time Peach isn't kidnapped! YES! The story is that Mario and the gang were taking a lovely walk, then they stumbled upon a clear pipe, and of course as Mario and Luigi's duty's... they fix up the pipe lickety split! Then a fairy by the name of a "Sprixie" comes out of the pipe and explains that Bowser has been capturing all the 8 Sprixies in jars and that they need Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad's help. Then Bowser captures the last Sprixie and Mario and the gang go into the pipe. They end up in a land known as the Sprixie kingdom, and now it's up to them to save each and every one of the Sprixies. Not bad of a story at all Nintendo!
Depth: 8
The length of the game is VERY long, first, like in every Mario game (or atleast most of them,) you have your normal 8 worlds, each with about 4-7 levels and a castle at the end. Sometimes, these worlds has boss battles after finishing the castle. Onto the levels themselves, they each contain 3 green stars, (Mushroom house, Sprixie house, Green Star House, and blockades are an exception) Some special stages give more than 3 stars, like the Green Star Houses. And blockades only have 1 greenstar for defeating all the enemies. There are also some stages that require you to get a amount of green stars to continue on. (Go to here if you want to see the GIANT spoilers, otherwise, don't: 3D WORLD SPOILERS ).
Difficulty: 7
The game is pretty easy at first, but when you get to World 8 and beyond, you're bound to need the 1-up trick. The game isn't really that unforgiving either, there are many power ups scattered around the stages. Not too hard.
Overall, I give this game a 9.8 out of 10. I love this game to death. I keep it in my Wii U disc drive all the time until I want to play another Wii U game. Thanks for reading, GOODBAI.

The cat suit, in my opinion, is kinda cheesy.I do like the see-through warp zones, though.
