Star Wars Shadows of the Empire is a masterpiece. It is a one-of-a-kind transition from the 2D Star Wars games to an entirely new 3D Platforner/Shooter. In fact,it is hard to define what genre this game is,because it mixes many different genres.
The story is about you,Dash Rendar, being hired by the Rebels to fight agaisn't the Empire. Dash Rendar is one of those characters that don't really care about friendship or love, but he is not evil. He just works for whoever has more money. The game involves you controlling Dash, going through a multitude of missions and assignments, and each stage plays differently. For the most part,it mixes platforming with third-person shooters, but then it turns into a space-flight game, and then into a racing game.
The difficulty of this game is quite high,in fact,if you are an expert, you might just as well play on Medium difficulty, because, well,if you play on Easy, you will not get the "true" ending. There are many buttons that mess around with the camera, but they don't actually serve any purpose. Playing with different cameras is not benefitial,so you might just as well play in 3rd person or 1st person. It depends on what kind of style you like.
One button jumps, the other shoots, you can crouch, change weapons, and strafe sideways in order to evade enemy fire. It's one of those games that allows you to mess around with stages, picking hard paths, provoking strong enemies, etc. For example,in Echo Base, there are big enemies called Wampas. You don't need to kill them to proceed, but you can get missiles called Seekers if you're brave enough to pass through them. Two slaps and it's all over.
There are also Challenge Points that can be collected for Extra Lifes, but they tend to appear in dangereous places. If you acquire all Challenge Points, you will unlock secret features. This includes befriending the terrible Wampas. There are space stages where you have to shoot enemies as they come, and you must not let them shoot you, that is,until you get to the end of stage. There are also other stages where you have full control over spaceships, and you must follow orders in order to proceed. There is even a stage where you control a Speeder, and you have to race through the dangereous deserts of Tatooine.
The Bosses are extremely tough on Jedi difficulty, and most don't have a pattern. There is even a boss that can kill you in 2 seconds if you stand still. During your journey, you will acquire a Jetpack, which will allow you to overcome large gaps in stages, and will allow you to reach higher ground. Not only that,it will allow you to move freely underwater. But be careful, there is this stage with terrible monsters that lurk underwater, they will certainly scare you. A lot.
The game itself is full of deadly traps and endless holes, but sometimes, you have to man up and risk yourself in order to get some Challenge Points. Overall, the game has an incredible soundtrack, one that will not go away from your mind. If you're looking for great challenges, this is the game for you. Each stage is very different,so you will have to adapt quickly in order to reach the end. With this game, you will find out if you're a good gamer, because it keeps you on your toes all the time. Only try this game if you're experienced. And remember, gaming is about having fun!

star wars: SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE   angryvideogamen..
In shadows of the empire I can only say that if you were to look up dash rendar, you will find a lot more about him, this game only reveals part of his story, dash rendar grew up as a wealthy corellien ( corellia is a planet) his family owns a shipping company , dash chooses to ignore the business and becomes a mercenary and bounty hunter. He soon joins the republic to help stop the empire. (dash serves as a mentor for dash at one time) in the game you play a few levels, the games graphics are alright for the time of the game and has a good selections of weapons even though there is only like five extra weapons. To me this is one of the best star wars games as it goes more in depth of what happened. This game is difficult at times but at least its not  superman( I'm only putting down superman 64).

Star Wars Without Lightsabers?
I am not a star wars nerd, I don't know all the characters or the plots of all these sub stories and spinoffs but I will tell you this... whoever was involved with this game had guts to release it into marketplace knowing star wars fans might go apes over the fact that you cannot play as a lightsaber swinging jedi known as Luke Skywalker.
Shadows of the Empire supposedly takes place between Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. Being the first Star Wars game for N64 and it doesn't even use lightsabers is really an achievement itself. And to put light on the saber the main character is not Luke Skywalker, its Dash Rendar. Who is Dash Rendar? I have no clue LOL but he apparently has access to the millennial falcon and Hon Solos pistol.
As Dash Rendar you shoot your way through the game, fly around in jet packs, take the millennial falcon for a spin, ride on speed racers and kill some familiar enemies seen in Empire Strikes Back such as Boba Fett, AT-ATs and even Wampas... you know that furry looking bigfoot creature in Empire Strikes Back that captured Luke Skywalker at the beginning of film? I don't recall any Ewoks but there are definitely Wampas to kill.
While I have played this game many times as a kid I do not recall the plot or the ending, sorry. But if you are like me and don't really pay much attention to characters or plot you will have some senseless fun just running around in a star wars universe and do pretty much everything you could want to do except use the force as a jedi and engage in lightsaber battles.
The overall atmosphere of game is dark including the music which they did a phenomenal job with, levels are quite interesting and they do a good job of mixing things up level to level, gameplay is fun but very difficult at times especially against the boss fights. The major drawback is that the camera angles are very bad during moments in the game and you might end up losing against the Empire because of it.

Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire Cheat Codes

Play as a Snowtrooper

Begin a new file, and enter your name as \'\' Wampa Stompa\'\'. There is one space before Wampa, and two before Stompa. The name is case-sensitive as well. Make sure your controller is set to the Traditional setting.

In the Echo Base level, press left on the control pad and right-C at the exact same time, then press up on the control pad. Pressing the right-C button will allow you to switch between the Snowtrooper and Dash Rendar. Use the control pad to maneuver the Snowtrooper, and press down on the pad to fire his blaster gun.
