R.C. Pro Am is a racing game developed by RARE in 1988. If differed from most racing games at the time on Nintendo as you played from an isometric view and of course your controlling a remote controlled racer.

Graphics: 8/10

It worked for what it was supposed to be. A racing game. Well designed RC Cars and a race course. There are also hazards such as oil slicks and random brick walls on certain tracks and rain puddles that slow you down on the track. You can tell what is what on the track. Its not the most color schemed game on the NES but it works for what its going for and doesn't distract from the action.

Sound: 8/10

The sound is pretty much simple. You hear the RC engines vrooming, some screeching tires on turns, crash sounds, Etc. Etc. All that you would expect from a racing game. But it also has some catchy tunes in its soundtrack and before and after races that will stick in your head. Also it doesn't play all thru the race. You only hear it at certain points during the game.

Addictiveness: 9/10

Once you start playing you will find yourself wanting to play again trying to best your last run. If you like racing games this is offers something different to the genre. Its fun and straight to the point.

Story: 3/10

No story. Just race to win but don't finish worse than 3rd or you will have to use a continue.

Depth: 7/10

It has plenty of tracks and each on differs from the last as some have lots of hazards, some are fast with few or no hazards, some have many turns while others do not. The only negative is that it is a one player game so your playing against AI opponents the whole time.

Difficulty: 4/10

The game gets harder as you progress as the AI cars get faster you have to keep improving your car by picking up items on the track. But you also have missiles and bombs to help you take out cars in front and behind you. This helps as you progress in the game. The controls are simple enough as all you do is accelerate,stop, turn, and shoot at the other cars. Your RC car also responds very well to the controls so its no delay when you have to make quick turns.

Overall: 8.5/10

Overall I give R.C. Pro Am a 8.5. Its easy to play, its very fun and challenging trying to win on all of the tracks. If you love racing games give this one a try. You can't lose.

R.C Pro-Am, was a unique racer for its time. It was so influential that it had several rip offs for the better (Super Off Road) or the worse (Super Sprint.) Instead of focusing on 3D scaling sprites. R.C Pro-Am, is viewed from an isometric point of view. Making it easy to pick up and play, but difficult to put down. You race with remote control cars, that apparently can go as fast a typical car. On with the review of this fun game.

Gameplay A-: R.C Pro-Am is a well constructed game. The track designs are pretty good, and the racing is unpredictable. You can be in last place and still win the race, and vice versa. The tracks are littered with useful, and annoying objects. The useful objects are weapons, that either launch at your opponent or hit one behind you, you have letters that spell NINTENDO. Once you collect all the letters, you will race with a better car, but watch out, its the same for your opponents. In addition, you have random parts that automatically upgrade your car. The obstacle's include, water puddles, oil puddles, rising walls, and speed boasts, which help you. Now on with the real meat of the game, the control. That's where this game succeeds is in the control department. Your vehicle controls, and turns really well. What is there to hate about this game, well the obstacle placement can be cheap at times, but other then that, R.C Pro-Am is more entertaining then most of today's racers.

Graphics B-: The graphics are pretty average. The scenery is bland and uninteresting, and the vehicles are generic as well. Thankfully, there's not the mess of scaling sprites that plagued many racing games in the 80s, and early 90s. Despite the game looking generic, there are some nice details in the sprites.

Sound B: The music makes few appearances, and when it does. Its not too great, but it is catchy. The sound effects on the other hand are great. There's not a whole lot I can say here.

Addictivness A: R.C Pro-Am, has a distinct arcade flavor, that is easy to pick up, but difficult to put down. The races are short, but fun and exciting. Its really satisfying to win a race, and hit your opponents with weapons. While upgrading your vehicle. Overall, this game is easy to find, and will give you many hours of enjoyment.

Depth: A-: There are a stunning 36 tracks in the game. Okay not really, some of them are recycled with more oil spills, or water puddles. Still, you will barely notice. The amount of upgrades your car can take is just right, and there's just enough stuff in the game to keep you occupied.

Difficulty Medium: Overall a well balanced game in terms of difficulty. Anyone can master this game.
