New Super Luigi U GameBoy1023
New Super Luigi U, A game that... doesn't sound right.. What?Yes, It's "The Year Of Luigi" or more specifically, Luigi's 30th year since his debut. So to honor this, Nintendo created this created this game with Luigi as the main character. And that's a good idea in my opinion. In this review, I'll be taking portions of this game, and reviewing them 1 by 1.Let's start!Graphics - 10Now every Wii U game will have dynamic, bright 3D graphics.Because today's technogical age is taking over old 8 - 64 bit franchises. But some graphics were SO fast, I don't know how they were all programmed. But I guess that's the life of technical producers. And I also guess that's the life of a child who likes fast-paced things.Sound - 7 The sound is like any normal modern Mario game,Except it runs faster (More on that later). So you've just got the basics,Happy music for outside levels,And Intense music for castle levels. And then you have the sound effects. Which are all the same. And sometimes, you can still get the original "Course Clear" Theme! How do they do it?Addictiveness - 4Well, The levels are very short, And that's not enough depth. And some levels are SO hard, The many people may rage quit in the middle of the game!Once you defeat the game (Which I did),You only get 3 things: You are freed from track of storyline, Your stats, and an extra world. So theres not much likeliness of replayability here, But wait until we get to depth.Story - 2OK, I'M SICK AND TIRED OF NINTENDO DOING THIS.It's always the same ol "Princess gets kidnapped by Bowser" story. But this time, It's a little different.Mario Is.. somewhere after eating cake with Princess Peach with Luigi, Blue, & Yellow Toad. And what do ya know? Bowser and his kids come in 9 airships, control hands and throw Luigi, Blue & Yellow Toad all the way to Acorn Plains.Depth - 10This makes up for most of the review right here, as I explain everything packed in the game.1. Luigi's very high jump returns here.In Super Mario Bros. 2, He used to move his legs rapidly for 2 seconds, causing increased jump height2. You get 82 brand new courses. That amounts to SOME fun.3. Multiplayer (Of course)That also amounts to some fun.4. Guess who's taking Mario's place? Huh? Nabbit.Nabbit. Ya Know, Nabbit, the thief that steals Toad House items and you have to catch him in select levels (If you still don't know who I'm talking about, read this Super Mario Wiki article.)And the crazy thing is? Nabbit doesn't take damage!5. The Flight Mushroom and Mini Mushroom from New Super Mario Bros. Wii are back. They can be collected in Enemy battles on the map or the Mini Mushroom can be collected in select levels.6. This game is downloadable. There is a downloadable and A disc version. But the downloadable has one difference: When New Super Mario Bros. U Is Loaded, It will have the option to load New Super Luigi U at the begin screen.7. And also, In the ending you get what I mentioned earlier, You are freed from the track of the storyline, You get your stats, and an you also get an extra world.8. You only get 100 seconds to beat the level.this results in the levels being shorter. And that's just sad, But no wonder I beat the game in less than a week. (In total play time)Difficulty - 10It's SO hard. It's just SO hard. It's as simple as that. It's harder especially in the harder levels, like in the end.But it's dangerously hard.Heck, I need to used 8 continues just TO beat the game. But if that's how games work these days...Overall - 8.9Overall, New Super Luigi U is a good way to celebrate His 30th year. There are a lot of replayabillty issues, But it's still a good game. But everyone should pay their respects and try this game.If you don't like it, There's better out there. Thanks for reading my review! This is GameBoy1023 signing off.

New Super Luigi U Review gamerforlifefor..
In 2013, The Year of Luigi was in full swing, and Nintendo was making Luigi inspired games to help celebrate Luigi's 30th anniversary. One of those games was Super Luigi U. The game was originally released on the Nintendo Eshop as DLC for Super Mario Bros U on June 20th, 2013. Later, a retail version of the game would be released, but that wouldn't happen until August 23rd, 2013. How does this game compare to Super Mario Bros U? Is it better than all the New Super Mario Bros games? Or is this game a letdown compared to those games? I'll tell you my view on this matter by making this review.
Graphics: 8/10 The visuals are the same as those in Super Mario Bros U. The level designs are very diverse, and show how good Mario games can look in HD. The characters all look really appealing, and the level designs are also very impressive. One of my favorite parts about New Super Luigi U's visuals is the Luigi paintings that are scattered across the land. There are better looking Wii U platformers out there though, such as Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze. Still, the graphics in Super Luigi U are good enough for me to give them an 8.
Sound: 6/10 Like in Super Mario Bros U, this game falters in this category. The music is generic and mediocre like the other games in the "New" series, and they aren't anywhere near as memorable as music from classic Mario games. There are way better Wii U soundtracks out there but at the same time, there are worse ones to (Sonic Boom anyone?). Anyways, I'm giving the sound category a 6 since it's mediocre.
Addictiveness: 9/10 New Super Luigi U offers the same gameplay as that found in the Mario Bros series, only you're playing as Luigi. His jumps are higher, but he's a bit slippier than Mario. This gives Super Luigi U gameplay that's more unique than New Super Mario Bros U. In addition, it's funny to see Luigi be the one who has to save Peach for once instead of Mario, which adds to the games replayability. Also this game's more difficult than any of the other games in the "New" series. When it comes down to it, Super Luigi U is more addicting than any of the New Super Mario Bros games, so I'm giving the addictiveness a 9.
Story: 2/10 The story is exactly same here as in New Super Mario Bros U, except that Mario doesn't appear here and is
replaced with Nabbit, who was the thief from Super Mario Bros U. The game starts with Luigi, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, and Nabbit having a tea party with Peach. All of a sudden, Bowser and the Koopalings show up in airships, and Bowser scoops up everyone except for Peach and throws them out. Bowser then kidnaps Peach. Now Luigi and friends must save Peach from Bowser and the Koopalings. Can they do it without Mario's help? It'll be up to your skills to decide whether or not they can. Storywise, it's the same as New Super Mario Bros U, so I'm giving this category a 2.
Depth: 6/10 New Super Luigi U has about the same amount of content as New Super Mario bros U. There's 9 different worlds in the main game, with a bunch of levels in each world. Unfortunately, there aren't any other game modes in this game. If you bought the retail version, then this is a major disappointment, since it would've been nice to have some extra game modes to play. Without the extra game modes, New Super Luigi U's depth gets a 6 from me.
Difficulty: 7/10 When compared to New Super Mario Bros U, this game definitely provides a bigger challenge. In each level, there's a 100 second time limit and no checkpoints, so you have to move fast and think fast if you want to get through each level. Honestly, this game provides the biggest challenge that any of the Super Mario/Luigi games have provided since the NES Mario Bros games. Is it the hardest game out there? No, but the game provides enough of a challenge for me to give it a 7.
Overall Score: 8.5/10 New Super Luigi U is a breath of fresh air from the New Super Mario Bros games that have been being shelled out recently. The higher difficulty and the fact that there are no checkpoints make Super Luigi U a more addicting game than the other Super game on the Wii U. If only there would've been extra game modes included, it would've been worthy of a higher score. Still, New Super Luigi U is great enough for me to give it an 8.5 out of 10. I hope you enjoyed this review.
