McDonaldland Review by: mlb789 - 2.6/10
McDonaldland: Well, There's 1 Hour of my Life I Won't Get Back. McDonaldland is likely a game that you have never heard of, unless you live in Europe. For some reason, this game was only released for the people of Europe, which prompts you to ask why they even made the game (unless you did your homework enough to know that this game is know elsewhere as M.C. Kids, but only on the NES version). My hypothesis is that the American Video Game companies actually made the right decision for once and made sure a game wasn't released in the US, because the game was really that bad. In this game, you get to be a kid that helps Ronald McDonald out and find his magic bag. If you were to look at the cover art for this game, you would notice that it looked like older kids were the target audience for this game, even though the younger kids were most obviously the target.
Graphics 5: This is the only department in which this game gets a par score. The graphics are actually pretty smooth for the time period, which prompts me to wonder if they focused just on the graphics, and forgot about how people who play games actually want a good plot line. One reason to hate on the graphics, though, is that they look like they were just put together to say they were done, and not focus to details (like the main character, for example). The only really good showing of graphics is Ronald McDonald, who is still as scary as ever in the game.
Sound 1: When I played the game on here (there was no sound error noted on the RGR plugin), there seemed to be this annoying buzzing that would not stop throughout the game. The only way I could get rid of it was to jump a lot, which made me die a lot of times. I would recommend playing this game without sound, basically so you can attempt to enjoy this horrible game.
Addictiveness 1: This game was a literal drag to go through and play. It felt like I played for days, even though I played for only an hour.
Story 2: The only reason this game gets a 2 in the story is that it tries to put a food franchise in to a video game, which ultimately does not work out for the developers. All you are basically doing is looking for a magical bag, and you have to avoid the monsters in the game or hit them with blocks that are just put around the map. In all honesty, you really should never attempt to put a restaurant and a video game together, because it makes for an awful story.
Depth 3: This game is not deep at all, and should not take you too long to play. There are two game modes, which are "Easy" and "hard". If they had maybe put something else in the game, I would have liked it better, but it really appears so far they did not care about the game.
Difficulty 1: This category confirms my suspicions about not caring about the game. While this game is meant for little children, this game would be too easy for them. Even though the McDonalds Corporation thought this game was too hard for little kids, I can assure you if you try the game, you will most likely agree with my point of view.
Overall 2.6: This game by far gets the lowest rating I have ever given on a game, mainly because it is really that bad. If you really want to play this though, I would recommend this: You should try to act like you are 6 years old and attempt to do stupid things, because that is obviously the only way you would be able to enjoy the game.
