Hyrule Warriors Featured Review

Hyrule Warriors Review by: gamerforlifefor.. - 9.3/10

Legend of Zelda + Dynasty Warriors = WIN
There have been so many spinoff games in the Mario series, some of which have really high quality such as Mario Kart and the Mario and Luigi RPG series yet there haven't been any high quality Legend of Zelda spinoffs... UNTIL NOW! Hyrule Warriors is a crossover between The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors. A lot of people were skeptical whether this was a good idea when the game was announced on Nintendo Direct but I can tell you without a doubt this idea works and it was done brilliantly! The hack and slash combat of Dynasty Warriors goes very well with the characters, bosses, and items from The Legend of Zelda series. I'll explain the other reasons why you should buy this game in this review which I'll start now.

Graphics: 10/10 With this being the first HD game in The Legend of Zelda series, you'd expect the game to have the best graphics in the series. Well guess what? It does! The graphics are absolutely outstanding! Link has never looked better (even with that blue scarf that's totally out of place), all of the other characters from the series you know and love also look better than ever as well, also scenery looks wonderful and everything else about the graphics are phenomenal. I have no complaints about the graphics so for those reasons I give the graphics a 10!

Sound: 9/10 Hyrule Warriors has lots of remixed songs from the Legend of Zelda series as well as some amazing new music as well! A lot of the music has a hard rock or metal feel to it among other things. The new music to me is the biggest highlight of the soundtrack! Some of the best original music includes Eclipse of the Sun, Eclipse of the World (both versions), and In the Greenwood. Some of the best remixed music includes Twilight Field, Hyrule Field 1, and Zelda's Lullaby (which by the way is one of the only songs in the game that doesn't have any rock or metal vibe). There is one song that I thought was remixed terribly, which is Skyloft... However since that's the only song I didn't like I'm gonna give the soundtrack a 9.

Addictiveness: 10/10 The combat, along with the waves of enemies you kill and the bosses this game has to offer will make you want to play this game again I can guarantee it. Also the game has a good story and a large amount of depth which I'll talk about later. Another thing that gives this game massive replay value is the level up system. When you beat enough enemies as a specific character you'll level up. With the huge amount of characters you'll be playing as leveling them up will take you awhile. Another thing that gives this game huge replay value is the large amount of game modes which I'll get into in the depth section of the review. Also there are lots of hidden heart containers and gold skulltulas just like in the main Legend of Zelda series. Finding these is not easy so completionists will be playing this for a long time. All this stuff gives this game huge replay value. Fort that reason I give addictiveness a 10.

Story: 8/10 I don't want to give any big spoilers away so I'll keep this category short. While there have been much better storylines in the Legend of Zelda series than the one in Hyrule Warriors, this story is still really good. I don't know how this storyline compares to the rest of the Dynasty Warriors series however because this is the only Dynasty Warriors game I've ever played. Also there are some unexpected moments that happen in Hyrule Warriors story that's always a plus. For these reasons I give the story an 8.

Depth: 9/10 This game has a huge amount of depth. First of all there are 4 game modes you can play: Legend mode which is story mode, Free Mode which is where you can play each chapter in legend mode as any character you've unlocked, Adventure mode which is a mode that has a grid as a map that looks just like the original Legend of Zelda game. Each block in the grid has a mission which you must complete in order to unlock other missions. The other mode Challenge mode, which unfortunately only has 1 stage at this time. I've heard that they may add more stages in future updates but for now I have to say this mode is pretty pointless and is the only reason I'm not giving the depth a 10... Instead I have to give the depth a 9.

Difficulty: 5/10
Hyrule Warriors has 4 difficulty settings in story mode: easy, normal, hard, and hero. Easy and normal modes are both very easy in my opinion. Hard and Hero modes are where the difficulty truly shines. Unfortunately other than free mode none of the other modes have those difficulty settings. Though Adventure mode can be pretty difficult especially when trying to get that A rank in each mission. Challenge mode is pretty hard despite only having 1 stage in it. For those reasons I give the difficulty a 5.

Overall Score: 9.3/10 Hyrule Warriors was an unexpected addition to both The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors series'. It also happens to be one of the best games available for the Wii U. With extremely entertaining bosses, amazing combat, and a great soundtrack, Hyrule Warriors is a must buy for all Wii U owners, as well as fans of hack n slash games and action games. Though there are some problems such as the challenge mode which should've been bigger. Also the fact that that Story and Free mode are the only game modes where you can change the difficulty settings are kinda disappointing. Other than that there aren't any other huge problems with Hyrule Warriors besides the skyloft remix. For these reasons I give the overall score of Hyrule Warriors a 9.3 out of 10!

Hyrule Warriors Game Description

It's time to fight. The delicate balance of the Triforce has been disrupted by a dark power that could tear Hyrule Kingdom apart. Join an elite band of heroes who must slash through wave after wave of enemies to defeat an evil sorceress.

Cut down entire legions of enemies as Link, Zelda, Midna and other characters from The Legend of Zelda franchise using over-the-top powerful Dynasty Warriors-style moves. This tour de force through the beloved locales of Hyrule will have players battling some of the fiercest enemies in The Legend of Zelda history. Two players can play local co-op, with one player joining with the Wii U GamePad controller and another with the Wii U Pro Controller or Wii Remote + Nunchuk controllers (additional accessories are sold separately).

FEATURES:

• The delicate balance of the Triforce has been disrupted and Hyrule Kingdom is once again being torn apart by a dark power, this time led by Sorceress Cia.
• Heroic Link carves through a huge onslaught of enemies as he executes flashy moves with combat attacks. This also marks the first time that many other iconic characters from The Legend of Zelda franchise are playable for any length of time, including Princess Zelda, Impa and Midna.
• Protect and reclaim recognizable landmarks from multiple games in The Legend of Zelda series, including such classic areas like Hyrule Field and the Palace of Twilight.
• Push back armies of classic enemies from The Legend of Zelda, as well as powerful enemies making their debuts in Hyrule Warriors.
• Advance the story to unlock new playable characters, each with unique moves and weapon types. Collect Rupees and other useful items to upgrade weapons and craft badges, which players can use to bolster each warrior's abilities.
• Two warriors are better than one: Battle armies with a friend using local co-op mode, with one person playing on the TV and the other on the GamePad, providing each player with his or her own screen.
