Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review by: darthyoda - 9.3/10

Humans Revolting?
Augmentations are rampant! Detroit is now more of a Dystopian style city. You guess right, it's the future! Join me as we tour the streets of the Cyberpunk Detroit. This is Eidos and Square Enix's Deus Ex prequel. Join Adam Jensen as he battles for the Augmented people in the epic struggle between the Cyborg and Purist mentality! Do you have what it takes to battle the enemy?

Graphics: The game has a unique style. I already said this, but ti's a Cyberpunk style game. The design is cool and fits the mood of the game. The graphics are interesting because of the unique animations for Jensen. I like the way they animated him to be the ultimate persona of all of the Augmented humans. But, the game isn't without flaw... The one thing that bugged me, knowing that better was possible, was the cut-scene movements. Hands, feet, walking, jumping-- These are some things that they could have done better, but that's minor, the game is still awesome! Namely, the guns, and the detail in-game. The cut-scenes and the in-game graphics seem the same, which makes the game better than many. (As, many do a better job of cut-scenes and they leave the game looking terrible.)
The game has one thing that could have been better... So it only get a 9/10.

Sound: The sound really has the futuristic feel. If anything makes or breaks a game, it's the soundtrack. This one has a good soundtrack, but it is again, one of those ones that sounds better when you're playing the game. Now, sound is vital, if you choose to go Stealth mode. Although not required, stealth is encouraged. You can run and gun, but that isn't the point of the game, and if you play it stealthily, you get more points. So, since stealth is encouraged, sound is essential. You need to make sure that you keep the noise level low, the accuracy high, and the cool factor above the point that can be measured! Oh, yeah, and the voice acting is good too. Adam Jensen's voice is really low and gruff, but it suits the character of Jensen. That is just the cream on the cake! The game is awesome in everything!
The sound is good. Therefore, it gets a 9/10.

Addictiveness: Stealth is addictive, what can I say. Although I'm not the best at stealth, I love being sneaky. This game, has done a nice tinge of awesome stealth. Snap into cover, sneak around and make sure you find each and every last guy, and you don't have to kill them. That is really the best part. You have options to just go around a group, or you can just go and try to get everyone. This adds to the games awesomeness. If you can do whatever you want, it makes you feel in control. Then there is the choice element, everyone likes to choose their path. This game has at least two choices in each conversation, each that has a respective path to take. You can threaten, reason, critique and some other things, depending on the situation. This makes the game a little more addictive. I just love these elements in the game.
The game is really addictive. I give it a 9/10.

Story: Humans versus Augmented? Not your style? How about the Illuminati? Ah, they are involved. They want to dominate human kind, but how? Well, using the new bio-chip! You, yes, you Adam Jensen must take down this evil plan! But, choose wisely, it's choice orientated! That's just a little tease. The story is good. I really would love to tell more about it, but you just have to buy the game. It's a well-written story, and it doesn't have the usual action game story. It's unique, and well thought out. It also makes you think about what you say, and instead of just having you watch people talk, it involves you more! This draws you into the story, giving it a supreme story telling style. The story was told well, and it's unique, which makes the story just that much better!
I give the story a 9/10. It's good, unique and well written.

Gameplay/ Controls: The game handles fine. The usual right mouse left mouse controls apply, you have the cover mechanic, and grenades, stealth kill/ takedown, the standard. All of it is laid out good. That's one thing that makes a game fun. But, it handles smoothly, no matter what goes on, the game doesn't seem to lag, or slow down. It continues to handle amazingly! That is what makes this game special. The controls are really just average, they (Square) didn't change anything, but they make the game handle amazingly. Now, I don't usually talk about game mechanics, but this game has some special things. You are encouraged to find alternate routes. (Usually a vent) And this, is done the best way ever. You have to look around to find them, and you get extra points for doing so, not to mention that you also get to by-pass turrets, cameras and other harmful things. That's really about the best part of the game's stealth.
The gameplay is awesome, controls good. 10/10.

Depth: Now, this is something I have a little confusion on. The game feels like it's less linear than many, but in reality, you only have a "short-cut." This means that you have a linear game, but it also has some variation. You don't have to kill them, but then, it's easier to take them down. You do have Augmentations that you can level up. You can have choice in it, which also enhances the depth and variation, as a conversation can end up unproductive. That and the ending... There are three choices at the end, which also gives a slight variation and depth.
The game has a nice mixture of a lot to do and little to do. 8/10.

Difficulty: This really depends on which Augs you upgrade, but it still doesn't make it terrible hard if you upgrade certain ones either. It depends on how good your stealth is. If yours is as good as mine, you'll be firefighting often. But, if you are better than me, which shouldn't be too hard, then you'll be able to Stealth kill all of the people and get out of each situation easily. It really depends on which play style you use. If you are careful, the game'll be really easy. That's really all there is too it. Take your time with every situation, and you won't get spotted, which means the game is a little easier.
I loved the difficulty, especially when the stealth was taken care of. 9/10.

Overall: The game is awesome! It was my first cyberpunk game, and although odd at first glance, the game is fun. It's designed great, it's an enjoyable stealth game, which also has choice. Which is my favorite game style. This game takes all of the cool things, packs it into on awesome story, and they make a nice challenge, give something for the run-and-gun types, and make it a compelling and original story. The game gets a 9.3/10!

Diagnosis: GET THE GAME!
