Akumajou Densetsu (english translation) Game Description

Translated from the original script of Akumajou Densetsu, known as Castlevania III in Western versions. Of course, this also means the original names apply (Trevor Belmont is now Ralph Belmond), but also gone are the dubious errors ("Bad world full of evil"). But yeah, whether be it Trevor, Ralph, Bad world or evil, Akumajou Densetsu is a game to play. Only now there's no Nintendo censorship to get in the way of things.

Besides just the different name in Japan, Akumajou Densetsu, the Japanese version has several other differences. Most notably, the original Japanese version contained a specialized "VRC6" microprocessor chip. This chip added two extra pulse-wave channels and a saw-wave channel to the system's initial set of five channels. The majority of the music combines the channels to imitate the sound of a synthesized string section. The VRC6 chip also provided smoother animation for sprites. Western versions of the NES didn't have the ability to support external sound chips.

Other changes differed in the gameplay or graphics. Instead of using a stabbing dagger, Grant throws daggers as his main attack. Some enemies do less damage in the Japanese version, and had their sprites changed for the Western releases. The Japanese version had slightly different backgrounds in many stages, and had special effects not seen in the North American and European releases, also due to the lack of the VRC6 chip.

The sounds is different in Akumajou Densetsu because Japan took advantage of Konami's VRC6 chip. The result is quite impressive for an 8-bit system.

orionfox , it translates to "Legend of The Demonic Castle". It's a reference to Castlevania's original title in Japan, "Dracula of The Demonic Castle".

Wonder What the Translation of the Title Means. Akuma? Devil? Devils Tower?

Seems to lack the N.E.S. Glitches. Score.
