I am going to start this review by saying that I am a massive fan of this series, and I have completed everyone of them. This is the first one that I ever completed 100%.As always the story in this game is amazing! The professor Layton games have a great habit of making you think the story is heading in one direction, but then right at the last minute, it throws you a curve ball and you find out that nothing was what you thought it was and this one is no different. The story for this game is even more twisty than usual and, while I wasn't necessary sold on the ending of this story, it was still a great mystery. As always here is a great range of puzzles, suitable for all levels, and a good variety of puzzle genres as well, fantastic to stop you from getting bored or to stop the game from feeling repetitive though there are a few puzzles that, if you are aiming to finish 100%, you will have to do several times, with slowly increasing difficulty, which can get a little tedious.I was aiming for a 100% complete with this game, so the tedium was getting a little intense, trying to complete the tea set mini game, and the camera mini game and the hamster mini game. These mini games do help to break up the game play and give completion-holics like me something to aspire to, but fair warning, it can get awfully repetitive to complete these games 100%Still, if you have enjoyed the previous Professor Layton games, I would definitely recommend this, but be warned there are some story points that may not make sense to you if you have not played the previous games.
