Dragon Quest VI Guide

Hello gamers, and welcome to another of my gaming guides. As always, I want you to sail through the game, find treasures and easily increase your level. But for this game, it’s going to be much more complex. After you defeat Mudo, you have the possibility of obtaining jobs that grant you skills and spells, but only if you defeat enemies at the right level. So if you try fighting slimes around Lifecod, it will be useless. I will indicate the approximate level you can reach before you need to change areas. Also, I will indicate where, between the real and dream world, you are. You can usually tell by the music you hear (real world had a more upbeat track), but just in case.

1. Defeating Mudo

1.1         Intro

Real World

Press any key to wake up the hero. Your answer to the blonde girl doesn’t matter. Move forward when you can and talk to the blonde again to fly to the castle.

Mudo’s Castle

Just follow the red carpet to the left, keep walking straight until you reach a foggy area. Answer yes, enter the door and watch Mudo cast you away in the Dream World.

Dream World

Village: Lifecod

Press a key to wake up, take a leather cap from the right dresser, 10 gold from the left-most pot and agility seed in a barrel. Walk east to a cliff, climb the stairs and enter the elder’s house. Talk to him, always say yes and obtain a bag of goods. There’s an antidote of the pot to the left and a medical herb in a pot outside his house. Back to your house, walk southwest and get medical herb from a pot where a man stands on a “carpet.” Walk straight south into a house and get defense seed from the barrel next to the cow. Move to the next house to your right and get 10 gold from a barrel outside. Move to the tavern next door and get 3 gold from a barrel at the entrance. Walk south to exit the village and go towards the “broken stairs” south.

Mountain Pass to Shiena

Follow the path, take the dirt path to the right, jump down and enter the cave. Take the medical herb and club from the chest and jump down some holes. Follow the path outside and re-enter the cave. Follow the path (including some stairs), get 20 gold from a chest you see on the left at one point and take the right path to come back outside, just about where you jumped down. Go back to the village to heal if needed (you might be able to buy more accessories). If not, walk straight left across a bridge, jump down to a chest with wayfarer clothes and enter the cave. Follow the path (you’ll be back to the crosses), jump back down your first cliff and follow the same path outside. Go up, then down stairs (the cave to your left is an inn), down more stairs and straight south outside. Walk south and turn left when you see a lake; walk in the clearing to Shiena

Village: Shiena

You can purchase a thief’s key in the lower-right corner for 470 gold. It’s expensive but will prove useful later on. Anyway, get medical herb from the pot by the inn; walk north of the church and get agility seed in the first barrel you see. The best price for your goods is 350 gold, from this lady NE of the fountain

Keep walking northeast from her to a house. Talk with the woman inside, get 5 gold from the barrel outside her house and exit the village. Cross a bridge due west, follow the clearing between passable mountains ranges and walk all the way above a forest to enter a hole in the ground. Go towards Bilte, say yes and you will fall down.

Real World

Village: Torukka

No one can see you, so you can rest at the inn for free. It also has a nut of life in a pot. In the house above the church, get a wooden hat from a dresser. In the next house over, get a tunic from the tall dresser. In the northernmost house, get medical herb from a pot and beauty plant from the dresser. Go down in the first shop you see to get 20 gold from a pot. Walk down in the well to get small medal from the dresser. Walk east to exit the village. Walk north in the clearing, on passable mountains and enter a small hut. Look inside the well.

Dream World

Just walk back south to Shiena.

Village: Shiena

Enter the craftman’s house (you spoke to his daughter earlier) to get the spirit crown. Make your way back to Lifecod.

Village: Lifecod

As you enter, the elder takes the crown. Enter your house and say yes to the old lady. Exit the house and watch a scene. Exit the church and go towards the NW of the Elder’s house for another scene. Enter the house and speak with the Elder. Say yes and he will give you a Pass. Go back to your house and say yes to Tania. Make your way back to Shiena and walk due south to a castle.

1.2         Becoming a Soldier

Village: Riedock

Talk with the guard; get medical herb from the dresser in the church. The next house to the left has a tunic in a dresser, the next one north has antidote in a pot. After that, go towards the castle and say yes to the soldier. Go back to the church to see a dialogue and enter the castle. Go up the stairs and take your spot to hear Soldi. Exit the castle, walk SE to cross two bridges and enter a tower.

Dungeon: Tower of Trials

Walking on the spikes will make you lose 1 hit point per step. Walk right, up, right across from opened chests and go upstairs. Walk all the way down to get wing of the wyvern and walk back up to the stairs you missed. Talk to the soldier for a fight.

Boss Fight: Tower Guard

He’s tough and can build up (stronger attack next round). Make sure your magic points (for heal, gotten at level 4) are high or that you have plenty of herbs.

The chest behind him has 130 gold. Follow the path left, enter the first door your see, go upstairs and walk on the first arrow pointing left. Walk on the second arrow directly above the would-be soldier to go upstairs. Walk down, jump down and enter the next room without talking to anyone. Enter the third door, talk to the soldier to get a gold ring ad look in the dresser for a small medal. Now enter the first door, get herbs by walking straight down and walk right to go upstairs. Talk to the soldier for a fight.

Boss Fight: Nelson

He can use a stick to make you fall (he doesn’t attack, but neither do you), slash fiercely (stronger attack), watch idly (does nothing) and attack. Be sure you have enough herbs and the best equipment available to stand a chance. Make your way back to Riedock.

Village: Riedock

Walk to the castle and go to the second floor to talk with Soldi. Walk back downstairs and take the corridor on the left. Walk right when you see stairs and get a small medal from a pot. Say yes to the man in the court. As you exit the castle, Hassan will talk to you and join you (say yes). Go back in Riedock and go in the well west of the castle gate. Go to the demon for a fight.

Battle: Dark Hobbit

He seems to attack the weakest member of the party, whoever that may be. Anyway, he can parry any attack for a round. Get the antique ring in the chest and talk with the lady by the well. She will give you a strength seed.

Exit Riedock, walk west around impassable mountains, follow the coast wet to cross a bridge and enter the clearing.

Forest Clearing

Walk to the right and follow the horse a few times. After Hassan’s speech, talk to him and catch the horse. Make your way back to Riedock.

Village: Riedock

Go back to the castle court and talk with the old man. After a scene, go to the far left to get silver tiara from dresser. Exit the city.

1.3         The Mirror of Ra

Walk northeast through a checkpoint, keep walking east through the clearing to a church. Check the pot for fairy water and a dresser for a beauty plant. Talk to the nun if you want to sleep and exit the church. Keep walking south, then east and enter a hut surrounded by passable mountains.

Village: Small Hut West of Dhama

Enter the hut, get antidote from the pot, wooden hat from a dresser and talk with the man. Say no, yes three times and watch a scene. Enter the hut, say yes and exit the hut. Walk east to this patch of sand

And use the search function. Enter the tunnel.

Tunnel to Dhama

Walk straight south to eventually get a chest with bronze shield. Go back, walk east on a patch of grass and go downstairs. Follow the path to go downstairs, walk east and up the second corridor you see to get second corridor you see to get 270 gold. Walk back south, east, and take the stairs out. Follow the sandy patched to a giant hole in the ground; jump down in it.

Real World

Village: Shrine of Dhama

There is nothing hidden in the marshes, so don’t bother. Take the stairs down and walk up if you want to go back. Otherwise, take the world map for the left side and exit. Follow the clearing west, and keep walking west to the next village.

1.3.1: Becoming visible

Village: San Marino

As you enter the village, enter the house by stairs going down to get bamboo spear from dresser. Exit the house, enter the “tunnel” just north of it and walk straight north (by the inn) to get herbs from a pot. Enter the inn proper, check the pot for a small medal, talk with the woman, get a beauty plant from the tall dresser and cross the bridge. Take a hidden passage by the stairs

And check the barrel to get iron claw for Hassan. From that point, walk south to go back outside, go down stairs and walk west for a scene. Go back to the house where you got the bamboo spear, talk to Sandy, try to exit and watch a scene. Exit again for another scene. Go back to the above image and exit by a door on the left. Walk up, enter the building with a piece of paper on it and talk to the blonde woman. Exit San Marino and she will bring you somewhere.

Village: Granmaz’ Hut

After spending the night, take a star fragment from a dresser, a nut of magic from the pot and go talk to Granmaz. Say yes twice and exit the hut. Walk south to the coast, west across a bridge, south in the clearing between passable mountains to the next dungeon.

Cave of Dreams

Go south at the first intersection to get wing of the wyvern. Go back up, walk west to go downstairs, go south and west to a chest with 230 gold. Now walk east as far as you can and down to get defense seed. Walk back up to the intersection, west, south and east to go downstairs. This area is full of metal slime, if you are patient. Anyway, walk down, up two flights of stair, go down more stairs and walk west down more stairs to get bronze knife. Come back to go down the stairs you skipped, take more stairs to the right, down and to the right to get fur mantle. Go back to the stairs you missed, follow the path downstairs and walk up for a fight.

Boss battle: Bloody Paw

He can cast upper (higher defense), cast brilliant light (to startle you) and sap (lower your defense). Take some of the liquid in the jar and exit the dungeon. Make your way back to Granmaz’.

Village: Granmaz’ Hut

Talk with Granmaz for a scene where you become visible; Muriel will also join you. Take a peek at the well for a fight.

Battle: Well Demon

Its scream can startle teammates, tis deep breath will increase the strength of the next attack and it can throw rock to everyone at once. After the fight, go back to San Marino

Village: San Marino

Go back to the mayor’s house to reveal the true story. Go upstairs to talk with Joseph and say yes. Go back to where you found Muriel, but instead of entering that building go up. Enter the second building above to get fur hood from a barrel and go downstairs to the casino. With enough patience, you can get enough to build all the platinum equipment you need. When it’s done, go back to the place where you found the iron claw; go up the stairs, walk down to go outside, east and go through the building next to the weapon shop to enter a house behind it for a scene. Now go back to where Muriel was, buy tickets and sail away. Talk to the nun to save your adventure and exit the port. Walk west above the impassable mountains, cross the bridge and enter Riedock

Village: Riedock

Go to the far left and go north into a house; get the herbs for the pot. Go in the house above to get a small medal from a pot. Go to the armor shop and buy a Royal Clothes for the hero, then speak with the guard (say yes). Talk to everyone around the castle (go down every stairs, including to jail) and go to the stairs leading to the throne room (same place as in the Dream World). Talk with the soldier, go upstairs and examine the dresser to get silk robe. “Talk” with the King and Queen and walk back east for a scene (your answer to Geban doesn’t matter). Exit the castle. Follow the coast west, cross a bridge, go south around an impassable mountain range (go pass a cave) and enter a village.

1.3.2: Long-lost Lovers

Village: Amoru

Go to the left of the waterfall (at the back) and enter the house with the bunny to get a wing of the wyvern in a dresser and a water of amoru in a barrel downstairs. Get a small medal from the dresser in the house just above the weapon shop. Make sure you talk to everyone (including the inn keep) before you go to the church. Talk with the priest upstairs, enter the side door, get fairy water and water of amoru from the pots and talk with Gina.

Dream World

Village: Amoru

Get a small medal from a pot, exit the church and watch a scene. Exit town and walk north to a cave.

Dugeon: Amoru Cave

Walk up and cross the bridge to get nut of life. Go back, talk to Gina and go downstairs. Walk all the way down (note that this area also has metal slimes), walk west, cross a bridge and follow the path to a nut of magic. Go back upstairs, walk left of a lake, cross a bridge, keep walking west to cross another bridge and go south to get beauty plant. Walk back up, go downstairs and walk all the way down for a small medal. Walk back up, take the far-right log, and walk down to the next log to go downstairs. Walk up, go as far right as possible, then as far up as possible to get iron claw. Go back down to an intersection, walk left to the end and up to get magic potion. Walk back right, up when you can and follow the path all the way up downstairs. Walk up, then left and be ready to fight.

Boss Fight: Horror Beast

Make sure you cast upper on everyone. Sap can work if you have it too. The beast can make you dizzy (lower accuracy), chaos dance (to confuse) and regular attacks. He shouldn’t be too much trouble around level 12.

After the fight, talk with Iria, say yes and backtrack to the previous room. Walk down, west, south, east and up the stairs. Take the log and walk back to the entrance. After a scene, exit the cave and go back to Amoru

Village: Amoru

Go back to the church, talk to the man next to the bed and sleep.

Real World

Talk with Gina and exit down. Warp to Riedock, walk up around the lake, walk west around impassable mountains and up once you reach the coast to the next dungeon.

Mirror Tower

Enter the tower, follow the path to the far left and go downstairs to get half plate. Go back upstairs and examine the mirror where the stairs should be (twice) for a fight.

Boss Fight: Poison Zombie*3

They can heal each other a little, but are otherwise easy to beat. Watch out for their poison breath.

After the fight, go up and to the far right for 200 gold. Take the stairs you missed, enter the right tower and follow the path (ignoring the first staircase) and take the far staircase. Follow the path, ignore the stairs going down and keep going to get strength seed. Go back to the stairs you missed and follow the path until you see a transparent girl. Talk to her, keep walking south to go upstairs and walk all the way up to activate a lever. Take the stairs you missed and, for all four rooms you will encounter, you need to move the purple orb away from the mirrors to destroy them. After doing the right half, cast exit and go back in to go in the left tower to destroy the other orbs. The path is exactly the same (including for the chest, where you get agility seed this time). At one point you will see the reflection of stairs but no stairs; search them. The room will now crash where the road divides between left and right towers; enter the room. Talk with Barbara and use the dream-seeing drops to see her for real. Take the mirror of Ra, go back to Dhama and to the Dream World.

Dream World

Village: Riedock

Go to the palace and towards the throne room to talk with Soldi. Go upstairs, talk with the king and go upstairs at night. Go towards the king for a scene.

1.4         Mudo 1.0

Exit the castle, walk southeast to a checkpoint (go south instead of north from the previous CP, on passable mountains), walk south across a bridge and poison marshes and east across another one to a cave.

Dungeon: Cave to Mudo’s Domain

Follow the path; at the first intersection, keep walking SW, hug the wall and re-enter the cave. Follow the path downstairs, walk straight south for a nut of magic and walk back outside. Walk south down a very long path to get iron helm. Go towards the ladder and take it, follow the path left, cross a bridge and go under it to get to a magic potion. Backtrack, enter the mountain to the left of the bridge, follow the path and enter the castle.

Dungeon: Mudo’s Domain

Walk straight, go down on the right side and press the switches and come back. Go through the newly opened doors and press the switches. Now go down on the left side, walk straight through the semi-lit room and make your way to a chest with dancer’s clothes. Keep walking east from the ledge, follow the path south (east of the column)

South until you see stairs going up; go towards them to activate the final switch. Go back down, walk around the room from the right (pass the chest and go towards the middle around here

And take the stairs. Walk until you hear the Demon World’s theme; make sure you are healthy enough for a fight.

Boss Fight: Mudo

Sap works fine! His voice can change your tactic so be careful. He can also cast firebane, but he mostly casts single-target spells. Even at low levels (12-13), he’s relatively easy.

After the fight, use the Mirror of Ra for a scene. Now, make your way back to Riedock in the Real World. You can use either the hole east of Riedock or west of Shiena.

1.5: Mudo 2.0

Real World

Village: Riedock

Go to the castle gate, say yes to the soldier and get sent to jail. Pace around your cell a little and exit it. Watch a scene, go to the western part to talk with the king and exit the castle. Go through the northern checkpoint, walk east to the coast and follow it north to a village.

Village: Gent

Enter the first house to your left to take defense seed from the pot. Enter the in to get a tunic in a dresser and go to the left of the village to enter the furthest house. Get a nut of magic from the pot, a pointed hat from a dresser and talk with the elder (say yes). Try exiting the house for a scene, and then exit it again. Enter the shrine, go on the boat and talk to Chamoro again. Walk through the marshes to reach a cave.

Dungeon: Cave to Mudo’s Castle

Each step on a lava tile will reduce your hit points by one. Metal slimes may appear from time to time too. Walk to the left until you reach stairs. Walk up and get chain cross. Cross the lava field to your right to climb more stairs and follow the path to get a nut of life. Backtrack two floors, walk up in the lava clearing (changing screen once) and walk to the left in the lava to eventually get 1150 gold. Backtrack one screen, walk all the way up, get the full plate, cross the lava field to the right to change screen, walk all the way down (change one screen), go right in the lava and take the stairs. Follow the main path without deviating to get to a man-eating chest (can kill you), backtrack to the intersection you missed and keep walking east to reach a different part of the cave.

In here, walk around the lake, take two staircases across a small bridge and go to the chest to get a man-eater chest (down) and magic potion. Backtrack across the bridge, walk west to the wall, up two sets of stairs and follow the straightforward path (you will go up one floor). Walk all the way up to the next room (not crossing anything) to go up one floor. Walk right, up, left, enter the next room and re-live the intro scene.

Dungeon: Mudo’s Castle

Make sure you take everything you need from the sack, since your equipment is limited to what’s on your body. Talk with everyone, and then enter the upper door (remember the thief’s key?) Get iron mask, 1800 gold and man eater chest (due left of stairs). Walk back towards Mudo (there will be a short scene with Hassan).

But before going upstairs, go to the left and enter the door. Check both statues for a fight (Hell Beast) and go downstairs. You can’t open the gates for now; go explore the right side now. Fight two more Hell Beasts and go upstairs. Walk all the way down to fight a demon pot, walk left and check the statue to fight a Hell Beast, walk left and up to fight another one and go across damage tiles to get fire claw. Walk south to go upstairs and talk with the demon for a fight. Now make your way back to Mudo.

As Mudo casts you away again, talk with Tina and be ready to fight.

Boss fight: Mudo and 2 Pieros (are not grouped)

However annoying the Pieros are, don’t kill them since Mudo will keep resurrecting them. Mudo can breathe fire, cast defense and single-target spells. Chamoro should use his Gent Cane often (casts healmore) to save on magic. The spirit punch attacks strongly but can miss, so be warned. Punch him to death and get ready for more fighting

Boss Fight: Mudo (for real this time)

As you can tell by the music, this time it’s the real fight. He can attack twice in a row, breathe icy air/cast a wind storm, put you to sleep and use a blinding light. Keep healthy and you will overcome.

2.   Saving the Medal King

Village: Riedock

After the fight, you will automatically transported to Riedock. Talk with Shera and the scholar, who gives you an unsubtle clue about Dhama. Exit the throne room, the castle and warp back to Dhama. Enter the shrine, warp to the Dream World and…

Dream World

Village: Dhama Shrine

It has been restored and you can finally learn new jobs. Since EVERYONE (including those in the wagon) can learn and gain experience, make sure Chamoro and whoever else also has a job. Note that jobs influence your stats gain at level up; wizards and sages gain more mp that soldiers. Make sure Barbara gains most of her levels under a magic-casting class. I recommend the following:

Hero: Soldier, Fighter, BattleMaster and Hero (healing after every round; others can attain that class by mastering EVERY SINGLE other regular jobs).

Hassan: Fighter, Priest and Paladin (chance of instantly killing a regular enemy). Also consider making him a battlemaster too.

Muriel: Thief, Merchant, Beastmaster and Ranger. Also consider using Priest to accelerate her learning of healing spells, but also Chamoro’s classes to increase her style for later.

Barbara: Wizard, Priest and Sage. Also go for Soldier so she can learn Magic Knight

Chamoro: Dancer, goof-off and superstar. Note that a superstar fighting in your group can “impress” enemies and they will do nothing.

Anyway, enter the shrine and go all the way downstairs. Get nut of life and nut of magic from the chests (you can still warp in the well), go up one floor and talk to “Granmaz”. She will tell you how many fights are left before you advance in skills for your job. Go back on the first floor, go up the altar behind the queen and talk with the king to change jobs. Once it’s done, warp back to Mudo’s castle until your characters are at level 26 (after which battles won’t give job experience). Use the goof-off’s whistling ability to get instantly in a fight (except in the entrance hall).

Optional Quest: The Kidnapping

Remember when you first went to the Real World? Go back to that place (NW of Shiena in the Dream World)

Village: Torukka

Follow the brick path to the northernmost house and enter it. Talk with the man and go back to the hut. Talk with the man with a mask, say yes, then no and fight.

Village: Hut north of Torukka

Fight: Biggs and Smok

If you leveled your jobs, this battle is a breeze. The only thing is that Biggs (right side) protects Smok.

After the fight, be honest (if not, you still get 5000 gold) and go back to Torukka.

Village: Torukka

Go back and talk with the man in his house (if you said no) and get nut of life.

Optional Quest: Amos and the Reason Seed

When you’re ready, warp back to Gent and sail east along the coast until you see a sign; disembark and walk north to a village.

Village: Monstoru

Enter the first house on the left to get piece of cloth in the back dresser. Enter the house above the item shop to get small medal from a dresser and 3 gold from a pot. Enter the next house above to get scale shield from dresser (talk with the man in the bed). Go on the inn’s second floor to get antidote and 15 gold from pots. Spend a night at the inn (say no and yes) jump from the roof and be ready to fight.

Boss Fight: Monstora

Firevolt is a very efficient spell against the boss. Otherwise, its attacks are fairly easy to avoid but watch out of its earthquake attack on everyone.

After the night, enter the first house of the village to talk with the old lady. Exit the village and walk NE (past an island with a sign). Walk to the coast and up when you see impassable mountain to a dungeon.

Northern Mountain

Climb up the ladder into the cave, follow the path down to go upstairs, follow that path outside, climb the ladder and go back in the cave to the NW to get morning star. Backtrack outside, walk east past the ladder until you re-enter the cave. Follow the straightforward path (really, there is only one way) to the summit. Talk to the plant and look here to get the seed. Go back to Monstoru.

Village: Monstoru

Go to Amos’ house, say yes, walk towards the monster, say yes and he will join you. Exit town, sail east along the coastline until rocks completely block you

2.1: First Meeting with Terry

Disembark, walk east across a bridge, go up into a desert (you might encounter metal slimes) and enter the next town.

Village: Arcbolt

Talk with the guards to enter, walk on the red carpet and talk with the guard for a fight (say yes twice).

Fight: Garcia

He is good at avoiding attacks and his own attack can be strong. But he’s fairly easy.

Climb up the stairs, enter the SE room and go downstairs to get slime clothes. Go back up, take a small medal from a barrel on the western wall, go through the doors, go up and fight the guards.

Battle: Scott and Holidy

Make sure you cast increase to boost your defense (Scott can decrease it). Scott can also cast bikill, and Holidy can defend Scott.

Enter the throne room (you can get a silk robe in the dresser upstairs) and talk with the king. Say yes, talk with Brast and follow him, as he said, to the southwest portion of the castle (down the stairs). Get the medal from the pot and talk to Brast for a fight.

Battle: Brast

He can create a vacuum to attack everyone (and a spin kick), cast defense and do a double slash. Make sure you cast increase and stay healthy.

Go back to the throne room to get a coffin from the minister. Exit the castle and go to the cave north of town.

Dungeon: Archbolt Tunnel

Follow the path, talk to a guard and be ready to fight.

Battle: Horror Walker and Fighting Panther

Just dispose of them; there’s nothing to it, although the walker has an attack-all technique.

Enter the cave and take a right on the grassy path to get defense seed. Backtrack to the intersection, go up to get 580 gold, keep walking west, go downstairs, go up and east to the wall; go down to get battle axe. Backtrack, go down when you can and go west when you can; walk to the wall and go down to go downstairs. Walk all the way west, examine the egg and fight a hell viper (an easy win, but can poison). Backtrack, go up, examine another egg, walk right and examine another egg, backtrack, walk all the way west to two eggs, backtrack, go up to another egg and watch Terry beat the monster (you can’t do it yourself). Walk back out (you can’t warp) and go to Archbolt.

Village: Archbolt

Go to the king, exit the castle and go through the tunnel. On the other side, walk up through the clearing to the next village, which consists of three houses. At the inn (first on left), get the medical herb from the dresser and exit. The next one over (far right) has a gold ring in the far right dresser and fairy water in the pot. And in the upper one, get 7 gold from the pot and a small medal from the right dresser. Exit the village, walk west and take the “stairway to heaven.”

2.2: Land of Happiness

Dream World

Walk east and enter the tunnel

Dungeon: Tunnel to Calcado

Walk all the way down to get small medal. Backtrack, walk left around the inn, go left and exit. Enter the next village.

Village: Calcado

Get a small medal in a pot in the house west of the inn. Get fairy water in a pot in the next house down. Get wayfarer’s clothes in the dresser in the SE most house. Get into the well, talk with the man inside and exit town (it’s night). Walk NW to the “turtle island”, talk with the man at the entrance and then to the captain. Go inside, talk to a man in blue coveralls (always saying yes) and watch a scene. Get ready to fight.

Boss fight: Jamiras

He can attack twice in a row and easily kill your weakest members; he also has a weak fire breath. He seems to be weak to wind slash, so use it.

After the fight, you will see a scene where the Medal King is freed. Exit the palace, go back to the island and talk with the old man to sail away. Get a small medal in the far left barrel and talk to the old man to rest. Go back to Calcado if you need and sail with your new ship. Although you can always stop by the Medal King Castle (NW of Shiena). You can get a staff of punishment with 15 medals.

Warp back to Calcado, enter the ship and sail west. Go up when you cross impassable mountains, follow the coast and go around the peninsula to an island with a shrine. Get a small medal from the pot. Sail back around the peninsula, sail south to here to go back to the real world by the “staircase to earth.”

Real World

3.  The Flying Bed

3.1: The Scary Prince

Follow the coast east, pass through a gate (get a small medal from a pot in the house) and keep walking to the next village.

Village: Holcotta

Village: Holstock Castle

Get small medal from a pot in the first room on the left, and follow the red carpet to the throne room. Speak with the king (say yes) and go back downstairs. Take the staircase down in the corner, follow the western wall to go upstairs and talk with the boy. Come back to the main room, go to the right and check the lower-right barrel in the “barrel room” to find the prince. Go back to the throne room to speak with the king, and once back downstairs re-enter the “dungeon.” Go down the middle corridor, turn left to get wisdom seed from a barrel and walk all the way down to find the prince. Exit the castle and follow the clearing south, through a narrow passage of impassable mountains (walking on passable mountains) to a cave.

Baptismal Cave

Walk a little way until you see the prince run away. Exit the cave and make your way back to Holcotta.

Village: Holcotta

Walk on the second level, talk with the boy by the house and enter the door and talk with the prince. Go back to the cave.

Baptismal Cave

Follow the path to go downstairs, walk straight up a flight of stairs, down another one to the right and walk up to a chain cross. Backtrack, walk left and face a monster.

Boss: First Trial

Watch for the chaos dance, which can confuse you. He seems to be immune to magic, so don’t bother. He can cast a weak fireball, but is other relatively easy.

After the fight, backtrack to the chest to fetch the prince again. Go back to where you fought the demon and keep walking the path and talk with the door. Go downstairs (metal slimes may appear), walk around the small lake to cross a bridge and get small medal. Backtrack to the bridge, go up here

And follow the path to the next fight.

Boss Fight: Second Trial

It has an innate reflect so forget magic. Its wind slash is quite powerful so don’t forget Increase. It can also build up; make sure you have at least two healmore casters.

After the fight, backtrack to the entrance of the room, go down the flight of stairs and get the prince, hidden under the ceiling. Go back to where you fought the monster and talk with another door. Go downstairs, walk south and get small medal, half plate and man eater chest (left). Walk back up and face the final trial

It can attack twice in a row, cast defense and do attack-all tricks. It can also cast reflect so watch out. Without luck manipulation, spirit punch will hardly succeed.

Talk to the door after the fight, walk straight to the priest to FINALLY have the prince baptized. Talk to him and make your way back to the castle.

Village: Holstock Castle

Walk to the throne room for a scene. After the night, walk back to the king (say yes) and get the magic key. Exit the castle, walk down the coastline, cross a bridge and enter a cabin. Check the well and fight a well mimic. Check it again after the fight.

3.2 Keeping Promises

Dream World

Exit your well. Walk east, follow the impassable mountains south and enter a village.

Village: Clear Vale

Go up the stairs to the left, walk left down a flight of stairs and enter the house to get small medal from a dresser. Get fairy water from a dresser at the church, a piece of cloth from a dresser in the lower floor at the inn and dancer’s clothes from another one in the empty room upstairs. Exit the village and walk west to take a “stairway to earth.”

Real World

Cross the bridge east, keep walking east and walk up once you pass a lake above you to the next village.

Village: Clear Vale

You can get another small medal from the very same dresser. Upstairs in the weapon store, get 50 gold from a dresser. Enter the church for a scene, get a wing of wyvern from a dresser and follow the brick path to a house (with a cross next to it). Get a strength seed from a pot and exit the village. Walk north, east and go in a mountain.

Get the golden pickaxe, fall back to the entrance and climb up the far-right wall again. Go all the way up to an entrance leading into the mountain. Use the pickaxe on the stone, go upstairs and use the axe twice more. Follow the path to go outside, take the right path, use the pickaxe, follow the path (you will go outside), climb up and fall down here

Enter the cave, follow the path (you will eventually go back outside) and climb up to the summit. Use the pickaxe on the rock to get fragment of courage. Make your way back to Clear Vale.

Village: Clear Vale

Get back to the house where you got the strength seed and talk with the parents (say yes).

Dream World

You now have the flying bed. Note that you can’t fly over any obstacles, including forests. Re-enter Clear Vale and get a small medal from the dresser in the room. Jump back on the bed and cross the lake east of town. Enter the cave you see and check a cross to get small medal. That should be enough to get the Ruby of Power from the Medal King (you need 25). From Clear Vale, fly all the way to here to a well (it’s generally north of the cave, over water).

Dungeon: Well

There are monsters around so watch out. Go down in the water, walk right (get the small medal from the chest), walk straight out of the water, get 3700 gold and exit the well. Warp to Dhama and jump on your bed. Land the bed on the land just across the water. Walk south and enter a house where you can get a small medal from a barrel. Warp to the Medal King, get on the bed and fly west, south across the water and land next to a small house to talk with the fortune teller. Exit the house, fly west and follow the coast south (you will follow impassable mountains). Once you see a dam blocking your way, keep flying south. Also, magic lamps, high orcs and the puppets are susceptible to beat/defeat/vanquish (instant death). After getting the jobs that you wanted (even at level 36 I kept gaining experience), return to the dream world

Real World: Underwater

Navigate north, passing many rocks until you see a sunken castle. Enter it.

Sunken Castle

Boss Fight: Killer Machine and Guardian

Killer machine is the most annoying ordinary foe of the entire game. It ALWAYS attacks twice in a row, and very strongly even around level 40 and has a natural reflect cast on it. Unless you use savestates, your only hope of winning is pray that it never attacks the same person twice in a row.

Get Aeolus’ Shield and a small medal. Now go on the right side for an even tougher fight.

Fight: Killer Machine*2

Yup: TWO of them. At least they come grouped so attack-all attacks will work. Make sure you heal after every round and that you use your strongest techniques (like the gigaspark from the Hero class). Keep walking east, down a flight of stairs and walk up to talk with the Donald Trump fish.

Village: Zenithia Castle

Enter the first door, then the first room and talk with the boy to get sap of world tree (healus, but you can only have one at the time). Enter the second room to get a small medal from the middle drawer and go to the throne room to talk with Zenith. Return to the first room and go down the well.

Real World

Go between the pillars, all the way down and exit the well. Walk south, then north to a tower

Pegasus Tower

Having stepguard from the ranger is a must in this place. Enter the building, enter the first room to the right and get strength seed; the upper-most pot is a Pott. Exit the room, go up the stairs, down and left to go downstairs and get small medal. Go back upstairs, go right, down (ignore the stairs) and follow the path upstairs. Go to the far right to get leaf of world tree, go up the stairs in the middle (metal babbles may appear at times) and enter the middle room. Take the NW staircase, walk left pass a wall, down, follow the path upstairs and walk down. The first path up leads to Mimic; keep walking left, up and right to get fire claw. Backtrack to the southern wall to go outside, walk right and go down to get strength seed. Climb up the middle stairs, go towards the horse statue and be ready to fight.

Boss Fight: Hologhost, Lamp Demon and Devil Papiyon

The butterfly can poison you, the genie can cast infernmost… but my fight lasted one round since Barbara killed nearly everyone with Madante (level 35). And the genie was killed shortly after.

After the fight, go back to Zenithia. (The well might contain a Death Hole)

Dream World

Village: Zenithia Castle

Go back to the king (the blue button is X). Now make your way to the Real World and fly to the Dark World (pressing X in the air).

8.   The Dark World

8.1 Restoring Hope

Dark World

For now, avoid any fight since your HP are at one and you can’t heal. Enter the village you see.

Despair Town

Enter the “inn” and get small medal from the pot in the far right room. Walk straight up and get nut of life from a barrel. You can also get wing of the wyvern from the pot when the red girl walk constantly. Walk downstairs in that house, get strength seed from the pot and talk to the old man in the bed. Exit town, walk east (passing on poisonous marshes) and enter the next town (Greed Town) for easier warping. Warp back to Despair Town and walk west to a hut.

Herbal Hot Springs

Get a piece of cloth and wing of the wyvern in the dressers. Talk with the bunny girl below the line of people and line up yourself. After crossing a giant rock, move down and left to enter it. Walk in the room and look at the well.

Real World

Fly back to Zaxon (it’s east on Lifecod).

Village: Zaxon

Go back to the house with a dog. Use the rusted pipe and enter the house. Check the pot to get 58 gold. Now go back to Ende.

Dark World

Despair Town

Go to Ende, choose what you want (the armor is better that the armor or Orgo) and exit the room. The inn now works regularly! Don’t forget the small medal from the upper cross near the poison marshes. Now go to Greed Town.

8.2 Restoring Generosity

Greed Town

There is a casino with very strong weaponry (in the back part of town, downstairs in the inn) but very expensive (600k in total!) Anyway, enter the house above the armor shop and get beauty plant from the pot. Get a nut of life from the cross next to the old man, an armband of sacrifice from a pot in the house above the inn, go upstairs for two Mimics. Go to the very back and enter the mine.

Dungeon: Greed Town Mine

It’s full of monsters (including metal babbles), so be careful. Walk all the way right to get strength seed.  Go back to the first corridor, walk up, right and down some stairs. Walk left (the chest down is a Mimic), up and follow the corridor without deviating down more stairs. Follow the path, open the chest and exit the mine.

Return to Morgan’s house (above the inn) and say yes (cough up 5k gold) and follow his advice: go to the NW forest.

Village: NW Forest

Talk to the man in red, say yes and watch the water drain. Go down by the far right; any other way will make you restart the scene. Check the chest for a scene, and return to Greed Town.

Village: Greed Town

Enter the house above the carpet at the entrance to get 600 gold from the barrel. Enter the house above the weapon shop (with the red carpet), talk with the man and check the armor to get dragon robe. Go back to the NW Forest.

Village: NW Forest

Go back to the chest, open it and reveal some stairs.

Dungeon: Ocean Hole

Walk up to poison marshes and walk left to get medical herb. Backtrack, go up and up to go upstairs and back outside. Walk left and go down the hole to heal and save (get a beauty plant from the dresser). Walk up, right and into a castle.

8.3 Reuniting Brothers

Village: Prison Town

Enter and talk with the guard for a fight.

Fight: Sorrow Giant

It seems to be able to do terrific blows very often, so watch out. He can also cast a fog that’s not quite stopspell, but you will fail your spells more often.

After the fight, talk with the other giant and enter the castle. Exit your cell, cross the damage floor, go downstairs and get small medal from the left pot. Talk with Soldi and get soldier’s “uniforms”. Use them and walk incognito. Walk down and go upstairs. Get a chain sickle in the lower barrel and agility seed from the center pot. Walk up, right and check a barrel for a small medal. Walk NW to a cemetery and get nut of life from the 3rd cross in the lower row. Open the jail gate up, go upstairs and walk right to go upstairs again. Enter the room down to get nut of magic. Go upstairs, walk right to go outside and walk to the far left to go downstairs. Walk left and get small medal, 4800 gold and shield of ruin. Go back outside, take the middle stairs and talk with the soldier (say no). Enter the right tower and go to the top to talk with the soldier. Go back to town, use your uniform to remove them and walk SE (south of where you got the medal) and talk with the woman behind the counter (say yes). Walk up and talk to a man in turquoise behind a counter. Now walk to the extreme SE and talk with the man with an orange mask (say yes). Walk behind him, talk to the man again and walk down for a scene. Whatever your answer, you will fight.

Fight: Prison Guard *2 (appear individually)

They only do physical attacks; just stay healthy.

After that, you will be in a fight you can’t win. So just escape repeatedly.

Once you can move, go towards the jail gate for a scene. Walk towards the exit of prison town, say yes to the man in front of the gate and go back to the main castle. Go upstairs (pass the magician) and to the top of the castle (don’t talk to the guard if you don’t want to fight). Enter the gate, press up and be ready to fight.

Boss Fight: Guardian*2 (are separated) and Akbar

They are very quick, and Akbar can attack twice in a row (with attack-all technics and strong, single-attack ones and defense) and he revives the guardians. Two hits of gigaspark should take care of the posies so you can focus on Akbar. Stay healthy (preferably with someone having healus) and you will prevail.

After the fight, exit Akbar’s room and return to jail. Cross the lightning field again, open the gate and use the prison key right in front of the prisoner (Krimut). Talk to Soldi and go back to the village for a scene. Go back to Krimut (the answer doesn’t matter) and exit the castle. Walk NW, following a dirt path and use the Orb of Truth. Walk up and enter the temple.

Dungeon: Sorrow Prison

Enter the building, follow the path to Marsal (behind spikes) and talk to him for a scene. Go back to Prison Town and get Krimut. Get back to Sorrow Prison (to Marsal) and watch a scene followed by a fight.

Boss Fight: Zuikaku (colossus) and Shoukaku

Their physical attacks are fairly weak (but still cast increase), but their attack-all technique can do over 100 damage to you magicians – and the colossus can cast healmore. Also, the ogre can sometimes take all the damage.

After the battle, talk with the brothers for a scene. If you enter the hole behind, you will warp to the Real World. It would be a good idea to complete all your sidequests before entering the final dungeon.

8.3.1 Sidequests

Dream World

First, go to the Medal King to get the mysterious bolero (requires 80 medals).

Second, go to the Real World around Torukka and fight slimes until you recruit one (you need a beastmaster). Then, fly here

and go to the island to enter the slime arena. Make sure your slime is well-trained (fight King Metal slimes in the final dungeon, and make it learn a few fighting jobs, and especially get double slash). Also give it the strongest gear you have (Metal King stuff is perfect)

 Village: Slime Arena

Go to the NW dresser to get small medal and slime clothes. Go down on either side have only have your slime in the team to enter “slimeville”. Enter the church to get healed for free. Go in the well to get slime armor and in the NE house (with a dwarf) to get two small medals from the pots. When ready, talk to the man with an orange mask on the right side to enter the slime arena. The combats are your slime v enemies and, like the monster arena previously, you can’t control anyone. You can participate twice in each rank (get a handicap the second time around, usually half your HP).

Class A (200 gold): 3 slime knights; poison carrot, mandrake and dancing carrot; skull rider. Prize: hat of wind.

Class B (300 gold): Kemadon*2*2 (2 separate groups), peep; Garahei*2 and stone beast. Prize: Bladed boomerang.

Class C (500 gold): Wind Mage*2 (separated), slave soldier; lesser demon *2 (separated), healer and fighting panther. Prize: poison needle.

Class D (700 gold): wyvern*2; dark horn and hell viper. Prize: slime armor.

Class E (1000 gold): Barnba*2 (separated), fusion dragon; curer *2 (separated) and haunted mirror. Prize: ice blade.

Class F (2000 gold): Heat Cloud, Living Dead and Orcman; Frost cloud, magic fly (casts boom repeatedly) and healus slime; axe dragon*2. Prize: Killer earring (attack twice in a row; equip it right away!)

Class G (3000 gold): Megaborg (pray it kills others), Killer Machine 2, Hell Onion (pray it doesn’t cast defense) and Givelife rock; Killer bat*2 (separated, and one might escape) and hell jackal; Stone Hulk (you absolutely need over 100 hp or very good speed to avoid the attacks). Prize: Metal King Shield. I was at level 50 and it was hell.

Class H (5000 gold): Last Tensk*2*2 (2 groups), Evil Wand*2 (pray it doesn’t cast defense); Berserker and Land Armor (pray it doesn’t take a defensive stance while taking hits for the other); Demon King (very quick; can attack before you). It was still difficult as a battlemaster, level 65.

After the fight, you will face Champ, the winning slime from before. Since your health will be restored, only a low-level Slalin can lose. After your victory, you get a Book of Dragons (have it on someone at Dhama and that person only can learn the secret Dragon class). Go talk to the old man above the arena (always saying no, but yes after the monetary offers) and Rookie the slime will join.

Now, for the best dresser contest (don’t forget to use beauty plants as needed).

·         For level 4 (female only), I had Barbara wear a gringham whip, dragon robe, magic shield, silver tiara and wizard’s ring (284 style) and won glass shoe.

·         For level 5 (male only), I had the hero wear the platinum gear (sword, mask, shield and armor for +50 style) and silver bracelet (344 style) and won platinum mask. He was also a superstar, which gives a style bonus

·         For level 6, I went with the hero with the previous equipment and won dress of radiance

·         For level 7 (monster only), I had Slalin wear the Metal King gear (sword, helm, shield, armor for +35 style) for 275 style and won sage’s stone

·         For level 8, I had the hero wear the platinum gear and the Longadeseo pass (!) for 369 style to get hat of happiness.

8.4 The End

Final Dungeon: Deathtammor Castle

Walk up straight to a wall, go left and walks toward the middle to enter the castle. Walk up straight to the next floor, take the first arrow pointing left, then one pointing right to press the switch. Note that this part might have starred slimes that can gather to form a Metal King slime. Walk up, go downstairs and walk NW to get small medal. Go back upstairs, walk straight left on the arrows, walk back up to the arrows pointing right, take the demon spear, take the arrows down, press the switch and walk straight upstairs to a healing spot. Go back downstairs, press the switch again and walk up to the arrows. Go upstairs (a zone rich in Metal King Slimes), take the spring to your left and get a mimic. Take the upper spring, walk up to a series of springs, walk down to another spring (back to where you started), walk up, take the uppermost spring of the 4, walk up to another one, jump right, get the golden tiara and walk straight down to a spring. Walk down, make your way back to the stairs you skipped and take them to press a switch that moves you. Go back upstairs, take either side and walk up to the next floor. Walk up straight, walk up beyond the door straight ahead and get another Book of Dragons. Take the door you skipped, (you will fortunately see your way at times; in the meantime hit walls) walk up, left, up, left, down, left, up, right, up, right, down and follow the path to get small medal, mimic (upper most chest) and princess robe. Now, walk above the leftmost chest, left, down, left, up, right and up. Once you can’t move forward, walk right and down until you can keep walking right (walk slight up once you hit another wall). Now. Go down, slightly up, right, up and left to get metal king sword. Walk right, down, left and enter the door. Follow the next path, and know that when you enter the next door, you can’t go back. I advise using all the nuts and seeds you didn’t; magic should go to Barbara so her Madante can be stronger, life to whoever has the fewest HP (ditto for defense and strength).

Once you have completed all you wanted, enter that door, follow the path left and be ready to fight. I recommend a very minimum of level 60, hopefully more.

Final Boss: Deathtamoor

Like all final bosses, he has more than one for. In his first one, focus on the main body to take him away quickly. Stay healthy as he can attack twice or thrice in a row with the orbs (fire, ice or physical attacks on everyone) or breath attacks. Do not let Barbara use any magic, lest you restore it.

For the second form (big demon), still keep Barbara from using magic. He can attack twice in a row, cast upper, defense and otherwise physical attacks. Spirit punch works well, as do fire-base techniques like flame orb. Stay healthy.

In the final form, unleash hell. Have Barbara cast Madante (2205 damage at 735 mp, taking away both hands at once), the hero gigaspark and the rest, a combination of attacks and healing. Deathtamoor can put you to sleep and spit fire to all. Stay healthy and you will prevail.

For the end scene, you will revisit a few places. Talk with everyone you want (you need to talk with Soldi in Reidock, Tania in Lifecod (Dream World) and the Elder (Real World)), exit each place. In Reidock (Real World), go back to the throne room to talk with Barbara and watch the end credits carefully, especially Terry… Back in Reidock, exit the throne room. When you see “the end”, reset the emulator.

9.   Bonus Dungeon

Did you pay attention to the end credit?

Dream World

Dungeon: Amoru Cave

Walk back downstairs (staying on the right side), walk left (crossing two bridges) and go downstairs. Take the first log you see, and on the island search here to get the Book of Babbles

Now, you need to level up both the babble and the dragon (if not done already) to level 6 in order to access the bonus dungeon. Note that that book of babbles can make you learn Madante. But don’t forget that it uses all mp, and that you NEED a dedicated healer for the bonus fight, so think carefully. As for the book of dragons, it just gives you breath attacks, which I never used. Also, the area around Zaxon still gives you job experience even at level 70. Anyway…

Village: Shrine of Dhama

Go down on the second floor and walk towards the back between both staircases. If you achieved at least level 6 on all jobs, the bonus dungeon will open before you.

Bonus Dungeon, Part 1

Walk up, right and down to get small medal. Backtrack to the stairs, go left and all the way down to go downstairs. Walk down, left, up two flights of stairs, down one and walk left to get strength seed. Go back to the right, go down the stairs you skipped, go right, down and follow the path right to get defense seed. Go down, take stairs to your left and go downstairs. In this room, simply follow the eastern wall down all the way to the next staircase. In this room, cross the bridge to get mystic armor; cross the bridge again and walk up (along the river) all the way to the next room. Walk up, right and all the way up to a strange place.

Village: Lifecod?

Go talk to “Tania” (in red) to see the real village. Don’t forget to search the pot for a small medal and a dresser for the echoing hat, a must for the bonus battle.

Village: Deathcod

The inn (first building on your left) costs 2400 gold. The item shop (marked as weapon shop) sells Book of Dragons if you like the job. To continue further, go down the stairs in the elder’s house.

Bonus Dungeon, Part 2

Follow the path to a door (you will get Pegasus and the caravan back) and walk up straight to the next room. Walk up, left, up and left and down to get Mimic. Walk back to the previous screen, walk right all the way, up and right to go upstairs. Walk all the way down (on the left side) to go to the next room. Walk straight up (left of the lake) to the next room, and up, right, up to the final room. Before entering the main door, enter a smaller one of the far right to get Angel’s Leotard. Backtrack, say yes and be ready to fight.

Bonus Fight: Dark Dream

To really win this fight, you must defeat the boss in less than 20 rounds. Make sure that your dedicated healer wears the echoing hat; this way he or she will cast healus twice in a row and do so nearly every round. Forget stats boosting spells as DD nulls spells nearly every round. He can attack 2-3 times per round and his attacks are very powerful. Level 70 is the bare minimum to win with relative ease; of course, Madante is a big must.

After the fight, see Dark Dream massacre Deathtanamoor and the ending again.

Get a small medal from the barrel by the inn (access it inside), full moon herb from a dresser in the first house to the right by the entrance and another small medal in the left part of the house on the second level. Exit the castle and walk west to the castle.

Boss fight: Third Trial

Dungeon: Wall of Destiny

Climb the far-right rocks, move right when you pass a chest and jump the ledge to get it (350 gold). Jump down the hole and exit back to the entrance. Climb up the far left wall, fall down to get nut of life, climb back up and fall precisely here to enter the mountain.

Fly southeast of the clearing and land on an island with a jail; check the middle barrel for a small medal. Exit the jail, fly south to a large land mass and follow its coast east. Land once it starts to go inland; walk south, east and enter a church. Check the dressers to get small medal and defense seed. Go back out, warp to Medal King if you have 30 medals (for the platinum sword) and fly north to follow the coast east. “Cross” to another land mass and keep following the coast to the east until you can land

Walk SE to a hut and look into the well.

Real World

Go outside, walk SE on passable mountains and enter a village.

Village: Zaxon

Walk up to get small medal and defense seed from barrels next to the house with the guard dog. Enter the next house up to get beauty plant from a pot. Walk east and continue to the SE corner of town to several pots. Get wisdom seed from the NE one. Exit town and grind your job experience. The monster are VERY tough if you are below level 30, but you will often encounter metal babbles that will quickly boost your level. Also, magic lamps, high orcs and the puppets are susceptible to beat/defeat/vanquish (instant death). After getting the jobs that you wanted (even at level 36 I kept gaining experience), return to the dream world

4.     The Final Key

4.1         The Princess in the Mirror

Dream World

Make your way back to Amoru (west of Tower of Trials, between impassable mountains) and fly south to a well; enter it. Enter the house to get a small medal in the NW dresser. Enter the other well (you might have to fight a well mimic).

Real World

Exit the hut, follow the dirt path south, the clearing east and the dirt path north to the next village.

Village: Foan Castle

Enter the castle, walk straight upstairs, enter the SW room and get a small medal from a dresser. Go in the SE room to get a nut of magic from the pot and go towards the throne room to talk with the minister (say yes). Go upstairs from there and check the dresser to get a small medal. Go back to the first floor, talk with the guard blocking your way and walk east to go downstairs. Enter the very first room (a bank) to get 150 gold and beauty plant from the chests. Go to the weird door and follow the king back to the throne room. Talk with him and watch a scene (use the mirror of Ra when you have the occasion). Go back to the king, say yes, talk to the minister and exit the castle. Walk NE through the marshes (a ranger can cast stepguard) and enter the well to get a small medal. Exit the well and go back to the hut to warp back to the dream world.

Dream World

Exit the well, jump on the bed and follow the coast south. Keep flying east to another continent, fly south when you encounter sand, down to when passable mountains start appearing south of view. Then fly east to an oasis with a tower; enter it.

Mage’s Tower

Cast Identify on the door and enter the building. Take the SW stairs (of the 4 group), walk south and carefully follow the ledge east. Enter the door and walk north to go upstairs. Walk south and around the giant staircase, go downstairs and take small medal and 1300 gold. Go back up, climb the giant staircase to the next room, walk right to go upstairs, enter the hut and be ready to fight (don’t forget the magic potion from the pot).

Boss fight: Miralgo

He cast can reflect, so be careful with magic. He can also summon monsters, but attack-all spells should take care of them quickly. Focus on Miralgo and stay healthy.

After the fight, make your way back to Foan.

Real World

Village: Foan Castle

Go talk with the king for a scene. Go back to him to get the Watergate key. Exit the castle and warp to Gent.

4.2         The Mermaids

Hop on the boat and navigate south until you see passable mountains on your left; start going around that peninsula. You will go through the floodgate (thanks to the key) and keep navigating south until you hit a landmass with dense forests. Start going west along the coast and enter a well.

Village: Beauty Shop

If ever you want (and can), go here to make your gear more fashionable. At one point it might become necessary.

Anyway, hop back on your ship and keep following the coast west. You will go around a peninsula with impassable mountains and the entrance to a cave; keep navigating a little further to enter a village (by boat).

Village: Pescani

Enter the first hut below you to get full moon herb from a barrel. Enter the next hut down to get defense seed from a barrel, 60 gold from a pot in the next house below, boxer shorts from a dresser in the house across from where you landed your ship, a small medal from the fish store (with a man standing in front) and 7 gold in the SE most house from a barrel. Talk with Rob (with the orange mask on) and exit the house. Go back to where you got the small medal and talk with the owner twice. Follow him to Rob’s house, talk to both occupants and start walking west, making sure you follow Rob from far away.

Mermaid Cave

Keep following Robert from a distance (he sometimes turns around), making sure you never cross his field of vision (including his blind spots). Once he comes to a wall, make sure you are on the LEFT side, behind a thick wall. Press the switch again once he’s out of sight and follow the path west. Talk to him, say no, yes twice and exit the cave back to your ship. Navigate it to the cave.

Go south of the stone pillar standing alone, say yes and exit the cave. Warp to Gent, ride your boat and navigate south of the bay. Start going east as soon as you can and keep navigating until you see rocks; go between them

Mermaid Rock

Navigate east for a scene, and navigate further to talk with Dina. Exit on either side and warp to San Marino. Navigate a short way west and use the harp.

Real World: Underwater

Go due south and go east when you see corals. Keep going SE and come back to the surface when you see an island; enter its well. You will find some very strong weapons and armors. Once you are equipped to your liking, go back outside. Warp back to Pescani, go underwater and navigate north to a sunken ship.

Dungeon: Sunken Ship

Walk straight north to get small medal and agility seed from barrels on both extremities. Enter the cabin, go downstairs and go on the left side to get thick armor from a dresser. Now go on the right side, get a glass shoe and the final key from the chests.

Optional Quest: Treasure Hunting

Now is the time to get all the treasures you couldn’t get because you didn’t have the right key. But before that, navigate west of the sunken ship, then north once you hit the continent. Go north, then west and up to a shrine. Check the base of the tree for a small medal.

Go back to Pescani and plunge under water again. Navigate east around the island and go all the way south (circling the globe). Once you hit another continent, hug it to the west, never letting it go. Keep following it to an underwater cave.

Dungeon: Under Reidock

Navigate to the grounds you see to get 530 gold. Go back to your ship, navigate around the “island” and keep going NW to a platform with shield of strength. Hop back on the ship, navigate pass the slime and land your ship on the opposite platform to get small medal.

Now go back to where you found the mermaids and go underwater.

Real World: Underwater

Navigate north, passing many rocks until you see a sunken castle. Enter it.

Sunken Castle

Go on the left side for a fight.

Get a small medal and gringham whip and exit the castle. Go back to the surface and warp to Reidock.

Village: Reidock

Enter the dungeon on the right side to get platinum shield and small medal. Now make your way to San Marino

Village: Holtosck Castle

Go to the cell behind the stairs leading to the throne room to get platinum mail and small medal. Now warp to Amoru, jump on your boat and go underwater. Follow the continent to the west down, passing rocks, and following that continent until it blocks you north; resurface. Walk on the sand to enter the shrine and go to the Dream World.

Dream World

Walk south and enter the shrine to press the switch to open the floodgate. Now go to Reidock.

Village: Reidock

Go down the same stairs and get small medal and boxer shorts. Exit the castle, walk east to your boat-island and press B. Enter the building, go down the stairs and get magic potion, demon armor and small medal from the chests.

Now pay a visit to the Medal King; you should have enough medal (40) to get the Sword of Miracles (heal with every attack). Now make your way to the Real World.

5.   The Strongest Spell

5.1 Glacos

Real World

Warp to the Style Shop and go underwater. Navigate east until you hit a continent; follow it north. Keep going north among rocks and left of an island. Go pass corals and go down the stairs.

Village: Poseidon’s Castle

Go all the way down and go west to get small medal from the dresser. Enter the cave east (cast stepguard) and get silver tray, givelife armband, small medal and staff of echoing from the chests. Exit the castle and make your way back to the Style Shop. Go underwater, go north of the underwater inn and enter a castle.

Dungeon: Glascos’ Domain

Enter the castle, go right, up and down stairs and follow the path left to get a small medal. Go up, skip the down staircase and go down the next corridor to get 270 gold and wisdom seed. Take the stairs you skipped, follow the path and go up when you can to get beauty plant. Go back to the intersection, walk east and enter the room to get magical skirt. Exit the room, go up, never deviating from the main path (the room you will see has a Mimic) and take the first corridor going left. Follow it, go down a giant staircase and go around it to pink pearl. Go down the stairs you skipped, go down (down a flight of stairs) and follow the path to a 4-way intersection. Go left, left at the next intersection to go downstairs and follow the path until you drain the water. Go down, go under the switch and go downstairs. Go SE to press a switch, come back and go SW until you press another switch. Backtrack one room, follow the path east and take the sand container from the chest instead of pressing the switch. Keep walking east, down a flight of stairs and walk up to talk with the Donald Trump fish.

Boss Fight: Glacos

He has an ordinary attack-all attack and a fairly powerful snowstorm. He also breathes icy air, but he shouldn’t be a problem around level 37.

After the fight, make your way to the Dream World. Make sure Barbara is in your team.

3.2 The True Barbara

Dream World

You should pay a visit to the Medal King to get Sands of Time (need 50 medals). Hop on your bed and fly on the western edge of the continents until here

Fly to the island you see in that sea.

Village: Calberona

Make sure you talk with every single citizen in town. In the NE most house (above the running children), enter the house and get small medal from the pot (don’t forget to talk with the cat too). In the NW house, get a magic potion from the pot. In the well, you will get to a wizard’s ring. Back to the entrance, walk straight up but don’t go downstairs yet. Go up (upstairs) and heal your health with both orbs. Now take the stairs you skipped, go left to get nut of magic from the dresser and right to get small medal from the barrel. Go up and left to go back outside, use the sand container (with Barbara) and see the elder for a scene. Barbara can now cast Madante, the most powerful spell of the game (in the skills). It uses all her magic point for casting, so the more magic point (and the closer to 1 the ratio remaining/maximum magic point), the more damage. Now go back to the old couple’s house and talk with them. Now go back to the Real World.

6.      The Legendary Gear

6.1    The Flying Carpet

Before entering the contest, go back stage (left) to get slime earrings and beauty plant and (right) small medal and headband. When ready, talk with the man on the left side of the stage. Note that you must go back stage every time.

In the first contest, I let Muriel dressed with a Sword of Miracles, a Water Flying Clothes, silver tray and silver tiara enter and she won (a silver tray) with 180 points.

In the second contest (male only) I had the hero wearing a platinum sword, mail and shield, helm of wisdom and slime earrings (229 style) and he won (a stylish bandana).

In the third contest, I entered the hero with the same equipment and won the magic carpet, what you were looking for. If you want to go into further contests, I strongly recommend having a superstar participating to get a boost in style. Make your way back to Calberona.

Go upstairs from there, talk with the guard and backtrack to the cook, who will give you the offering. Go back to the guard, say yes, talk to him again on the altar and go fetch the king. Go back to the altar and watch a scene. As you walk out of the castle, you will warp back to the Real World.

6.3         The Legendary Shield

Now go back to the house with the well and talk with the old man after the dialogue. Exit the village, warp to Amoru and navigate south around the continent. Follow it until you enter a cave with your boat.

Dungeon: Magical Cave

Move up, right and down and get small medal. Move back up, don’t enter the next room and go to the right corridor going up instead. Go left when you can, up and get 1900 gold and defense seed from the chests. Backtrack to the room you missed and go down the next corridor on your right going down; take it until you can reach a room to go downstairs. Follow the path and always to down to reach swordedge armor. Go back up one room, go right, enter the next room up and check the wall here

Go down the stairs, go downstairs once, and then go back up until you see an opening south of the staircase going up. Go downstairs, walk left, down, right and get small medal from the chest. Backtrack to the entrance of the floor, go right, walk up, left and get the Shield of Sufida.

Cave of the Snow Queen

Talk to her again and she will thaw the village.

Village: Mt. Snow

Enter the church (NW of town and enter the room to talk with Zam. Don’t try to remember what he says, it won’t be useful anyway. Exit the village, go north and follow the ladders to a cave.

Dungeon: Ice Cave

Walk up straight, examine the door and answer: 1, 3, 2 (told you). Enter the next room, go as far right as you can without going on the ice and slide up, left and up to go downstairs. Walk up, right and keep walking to get 1900 gold. Go back down, take the stairs and walk down to a small medal. Go back to the middle, carefully walk on the ice (two steps on the same tile make you fall down) and make your way up to go downstairs. Go straight up to slide to more stairs, and in the next room go: up two steps (left of the sign), circle the room hugging the wall, press the north switch, walk south of the broken ice to the west switch, straight right to the east switch, one step down, west and on the south switch Now circle the room to the right to the next room and get the sword from the altar. Go back to the village.

Village: Mt. Snow

Go back to Zam to get the Longadeseo Pass. Warp back to Longadeseo.

Village: Longadeseo

You can get a small medal from the dresser in the NW most part of town (you have to push the weapon seller out of your way), east of the theater. Get another one by walking on the western edge of town, behind the bar, in a barrel. Hug the wall (east of where you pushed the weapons merchant), go up the stairs, then down and get 2500 gold and wisdom seed from the chests. Note that there is a casino downstairs from the theater with different equipment than in San Marino. Anyway, exit the theater from the right door, enter the well and the house to get thief’s key. Exit the well, enter a secret door east of clothes lines and walk south pass the bunny girl to get nut of life and wisdom seed from the chests. Go upstairs and talk with Hawk. You now need to find him.

First, go to church, where he is dressed as a priest.

Second, go to the theater (100 gold) and go downstairs. He is dressed as a bunny. Check the dressers for fishnet stockings and beauty plant.

His final hiding is behind the bar; just say no twice and then yes. Walk south to hear the conversation and go back to Hawk, inside the house inside the well. Have 2k gold and listen to him. Exit town, hop on your boat and follow the coastline to a temple; enter it.

Mary’s Grave

Get a small medal from the furthest tomb down. Talk to Sally, say yes and go back to town.

Village: Longadeseo

Go to Sally’s house (NE of town), go downstairs and talk to her. Say yes and exit the village.

6.4.1 The Return of the Prince

By now, you should have enough medals to get the mystic armor from the medal king (requires 60). When it’s done, go back to the Real World and warp to Torukka. Hop on your carpet and fly east to the next continent. Follow it until you can land. Enter the hut and check the dresser for a small medal (you can get King Metal Helm from the medal king with that one). Walk up north and get to a familiar mountain pass.

Mountain Pass to Lifecod

Go up the stairs, go right on the woman, go upstairs again and enter the cave. Follow the path (it’s the same as in the Dream World) and take 880 gold from a chest to your left before going back outside. Walk left across the bridge, jump down and get small medal. Go inside to climb the rope, cross the bridge and walk towards the exit to see Randy and… yourself. Keep walking right to get small medal and beauty plant from the chests. Now exit and go to Lifecod.

Enter the house, get a stylish bandana from the dresser and talk with the elder. Go back to Tania and to the elder for a scene. Talk to yourself and go back to the mountain pass.

Mountain Pass to Lifecod

Go back to the two chests to see yourself. Make your way back to Lifecod.

Village: Lifecod

Talk to all demons in the village (inside each house, around the well, fighting Randy). They shouldn’t be much trouble around level 37, but do watch out for the enemy with an ax, who can spin it around. The priest inside the church can heal you instantly. When it’s done, go to Tania’s house and talk to yourself to become one person (you will learn zap if you haven’t already). Be ready to fight afterwards.

Boss fight: Demon General

It seems immuned to Madante so don’t bother. Its fire breath is fairly weak, and it’s pretty weak in general.

After the fight, say yes and go back to Reidock.

Village: Reidock

Talk with General Franco, say yes (to the king too) and at night, walk around the castle to see souvenirs (by looking at stars). Look at all of them and go back to the throne room (with the last memory star). Say yes to the king and you will receive the Helm of Cevas. When it’s done, go get the sword back from Sally (don’t forget to bring it to the style shop to increase its attack and style).

7.    The Return of Pegasus

7.1 The Rise of Zenithia

Exit the village and go underwater. Follow the coastline south, always hugging the continent (going through a narrow channel). Once you see a big continent south of you, resurface and follow it east. Land the ship as soon as you pass impassable mountains and enter the small forest among passable mountains.

Temple of Symbols

Press the switches clockwise starting at the top: sun, cross, heart and bolt. Go towards the center and be beamed up for a fight.

Boss Fight: Hell Cloud

It can crush the party and create a vacuum (physical attack-all) and infernmost. Stay healthy and you will prevail.

Village: Cloud Castle

Before proceeding, backtrack to heal a little. When ready, climb up the stairs for a scene. Enter the castle on the left, check the second room to get nut of life and leaf of world tree and exit from the right door. Go up the stairs, enter the main door, always climbing up, and be ready to fight.

Boss Fight: Killer machine and Land Armor

Don’t fight too hard as you have many fight. Make sure you cast increase and stay healthy. Note that the armor will likely protect the killer machine.

Boss Fight: Terry

His attacks are purely physical: flame slash, spinning sword and double slash. He can also cast defense and use the sword of thunder.

Boss Fight: Duran

Now give it all you’ve got (it seems so get healed back). He can attack twice in a row, cancel your support spells and has an attack that attacks three times. He can also cast reflect. Stay healthy and you should triumph.

After the fight, talk to Terry for a family reunion. Terry will join (will all the soldier skills, and learning battlemaster already); exit the castle and Zenithia will now be accessible in the Dream World; go there.

Dream World

Warp to the Medal King Castle and hop on the bed. Fly northwest (around the planet) to the dense forest mass you see in the SE corner of the map. Follow it west and fly north once you pass impassable mountains. Land across a river, walk through a forest and use your carpet to fly to Zenithia.

7.2 The Legendary Horse
