I just use Spotify Premium most of the time. Sometimes, I will use YouTube at home, though.

I usually download it off of Patreon, since I support most of the musicians that I listen to, such as ToxicxEternity, Cyril the Wolf, RichaadEB, etc. If I don't support them, I usually just stream it off of YouTube since i have unlimited data and YouTube Red.

tyranit : Do you just download those to your computer or does it come with a way to get those songs to a phone? I did that once with a person I supported but if I ever tried to transfer the file would never appear.

Since 2015 I extensively began buying music on CD, vinyl and tape from different sellers on discogs (mostly private), before that just a few times. Way before that I used to just download music from obscure blogspots, when rapidshare and megaupload were still around and hot. Some very obscure stuff I got from using Soulseek.

A load of youtube channels that upload single songs (mostly Punk that is) have helped me decide what music to buy. If I like something and know the songs already, I'll buy it at some point.

Most of the time when I discover that an album, that's on my wantlist, is uploaded on youtube, I could listen to it completely to decide whether to buy it or not, but instead of that, I may only listen to one or two songs and then buy the album to find out for myself how I like the rest.
If I actually don't like it, I'll return or sell it at a later point (mostly sell, because not every private sellers will accept returns). Or there are a few songs that I like that I rip and put into my music driver.
Sometimes there are no rips on the internet at all, so finding out is the only way. Turns out I got some good surprises.

If there's an album on more than one format, I prefer to pick vinyl. Or tape when it wasn't put on vinyl. Vinyl has excellent quality, but not always when the source came straight from CD or the sound quality isn't that good that it's worth it. It definitely lasts longer than CD and maybe more than tape. Depends of the usage, though.

Normally, I get my music from iTunes, I normally first listen to some of these songs on the radio, and then look up the songs on iTunes, and purchase these songs, also when I get these songs, I get more songs on the Recommended List on iTunes and buy my songs from that as well.

Although I also get my music in other means (like YouTube and other places), but iTunes is the primary reason.

I still primarily use Spotify, but I started using YouTube a little bit when I can't find a certain remix on Spotify. I'll also seldom use Pandora when I want to listen to some stand-up comedy.

thing1 : Is Pandora good? A while back I got a three month trial for premium since I have T-Mobile but I couldn't figure most of it out and cancelled it.

I didn't like the random playlist aspect of it and gave up.

I tend to listen to music from Spotify or Pandora (have been using Spotify mainly lately, simply because of the fact I got a lot of ads on Pandora I wasn't liking at all)

I also have YouTube playlists, and occasionally download from a YouTube to MP3 converter if I really like the music. Used to buy CDs and stuff, but that got expensive and also kinda useless considering how digital everything is now.

I generally buy my music on Google Play since usually it's about a dollar per song but I also listen to music on Pandora for free or watch Youtube music videos.

I generally listen to music through Spotify, but that’s only when I’m at home.

Lately I’ve been buying some cds and putting them on my phone and listening to them in the car. It makes it easier than having to make a Spotify playlist.

I decided about a year ago to do my best not to download things for free. I love music and movies, and I should show my appreciation for it by at least paying a little for it.

For music, I use Google Play Music . It has a very large selection of music (more than apple music), and you can get a "family plan" where you can have 6 different accounts.

However, I must admit that I know that those subscription companies don't pay the artists very much at all. So if I really like an album, I will buy the vinyl of it to use at home.

I don't tend to get a lot of new music.

I usually find a playlist on Spotify that I enjoy and play that to death.

If I am looking for something new I'll quite often go on Youtube and find something I really enjoy and then see what suggestions are made to go along with that. I've found some good stuff that way.

Once I've found a new group/band etc. I'll quite often download their discography and see what else of theirs I like.

YouTube to MP3 lol

I tried Spotify but the ads are maddening IMO and I'm not willing to pay to get rid of them. Would rather just go about it the easy way and download music myself. If I REALLY like something I'll pay for it but it's been a long time since the last time a song has motivated me that much.

It's not often that I play music in the background when I do things since I either wind up tuning it out or it distracts me from what I'm doing, but I follow several YouTubers that do different kinds of covers and arrangements. I also decided to give Spotify a try and found the audio quality to be waaaaaay higher. I'm not what one would call an audiophile and my standards for it are actually pretty low, but after hearing it crisp and clear, it's hard to go back to YouTube.

Light Knight : Vinyl, huh? I know vinyl's been coming back and has its own crowd again, but I haven't had the opportunity to hear it myself. Is there really that much difference in the sound or is it more a matter of collectability?

For years I used a YouTube mp3 website to download music from YouTube. I refused to pay for something that I could get for free. However, I caved in a few months ago and bought Spotify Premium. They have a deal where you can get Hulu and Spotify Premium for $0.99 per month for the first three months ($4.99 per month after that) if you're a college student and that was just too good of a deal for me to pass up. I love it so far, and I am happy with my choice to transition to Spotify. It is just overall easier than having to download every song from YouTube.
