So I'm just now playing through Resident Evil 4 for the first time. I know I know, it's a classic and one of the best games ever made, shame on me, etc etc... And with good reason, I'm absolutely digging it. It's challenging, the atmosphere is tense throughout, inventory management is fun and engaging, it's just a really good game.

But yesterday I got to this jerk of a boss that gave me so much trouble. Those of you who played Resi 4 know who I'm talking about - The creature called "It". That big scorpion-like guy with the blades on his tail who's able to dig holes and attacks you from below and you have to press a button prompt to dodge those. In the first stage of the encounter with him you have to avoid him and get off the platforms which gradually fall in the abyss, but in the second stage you actually fight him.

Usually I'm pretty chill regarding difficult boss fights, but this was just bull. I was in a tough spot regarding ammo (was sorta my fault for not using multiple saves though) and I barely had enough for the fight. He just kept on kicking my butt with his unpredictable behavioral pattern...

I actually consulted the internet for this fight, and people actually say he's one of the hardest bosses in the game because the fight is fairly straightforward, you simply have to unload on him with everything you have. But that's just the thing that I had trouble with - I barely had any ammo at that point, I kept on running out of ammo fighting him, I feel it was by sheer luck that I eventually beat him. I literally almost gave up because the odds were just stacked against me, both because of my stupid fault for using one save throughout the game, but also because there is no way to back out of the fight before it happens to replenish ammo and items.

Have you experienced a boss that was so hard and frustrating it almost made you just give up?

Well I have never played Resident Evil but I have had to deal with those type of bosses from a game series a play and that is Mega Man. Mega Man games are known to have difficult bosses. They are in no particular order

Sunstar from Mega Man V (Game Boy) This guy is one of the hardest bosses in the Mega Man classic series. He has a laser attack that drains 70% of your health. His other attacks pack a wallop. He is also fast, and can jump into you quickly. This guy takes a lot of luck to beat.

Shadow Man from Mega Man 3. This guy is a pain. He has no pattern. He throws his shadow blades at you, dives into you, runs into you and he jumps all the time. To make things worse his weakness is hard to hit him with. This guy I died a lot and he ended a lot of my no death runs.

Quick Man from Mega Man 2. This guy he is a menace. He is very fast and he does not have a pattern. He can throw his boomerangs at you, run into you and jump right into you. His stage is a nightmare. As it is filled with laser beams of death. By the time I have reached Quick Man I have only had 1 life left.

Pharaoh Man from Mega Man 4. His attack packs a punch and not to mention he is very fast. While he jumps around he throws a lot of shots at you. He does a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

Ballade from Mega Man 4 (Game Boy) Wow, is this guy a menace. He has homing missiles that attack you. In the meantime he is jumping around at a fast place. He is also tough to dodge as you have to be very persistent to jump over him. He can also dash right into you. The small screen makes it hard to dodge your attacks.

Slash Man from Mega Man 7. He is fast, quick, his claws can do a lot of damage. In the meantime he likes to go off the screen and drop tar balls on you freezing you in place. He literally bounces off the wall.

Freeze Man also from Mega Man 7. He is not as fast as some of the others I have fought. But he makes up with it for his attacks. He can freeze you in place, with his ice weapon or freezing the floor. In the mean time he likes to freeze you and run right into you. He is also a good jumper. He can also make ice sickles fall from the ceiling on you. You have to get real close to him to use his weakness.

Burner Man from Mega Man and Bass. This guy stage is fully of traps. But he is hard to deal with. His room is so big that he can go off screen. This allows him to dive right into you, jump into you, push you off into the spike pit that is in his room. He also throws traps at you to stun you. His fire attack has a long range and can burn the ground. His weakness is hard to hit him with.

Neon Tiger Mega Man X3. This guy ended a lot of runs for me. He is very fast and jumps around his room. He also shoots you with his machine gun bullets. He can block your shots with his claws. He also loves to just run right into you, or jump into you. He does a lot of damage quickly.

Volt Catfish Mega Man X3- He is not as fast as Neon Tiger. But his electric attacks can drain your health quickly. He loves to sent electric bots at you. He also likes to charge himself up making him invincible till  he releases his voltage. He is also big and bulky he loves to jump on you.

Magnet Centipede Mega Man X2. This guy is so annoying it is not even funny. First of all he can pull you into him so he can use his tail to drain your energy. When he does that he causes you to lose the ability to dodge his attacks, climb the walls and charge your shots. He also teleports he loves to vanish then appear and throw mines at you. His weakness only does 2 unites of damage.

Anyway I know this is a lot but these are the bosses in Mega Man games that have game me a lot of trouble. I would also say these are some of the hardest bosses I have had to deal with in games.

I am feeling pretty great about myself!! I recently acquired the PSX emulator and I wanted to try a few games out. One of those games was Guilty Gear! O.o I had heard about the game, but more so about its insanely hard boss, Justice! I was so hyped to try to beat her! I started yesterday at around 10:00 with the game. I went into arcade mode; it wasn't too hard, I used a few continues here and a little bit there, but it wasn't crazy hard. Things started getting crazy once I had gotten to the Sub-Boss though. I noticed that it was about 10:40 when I got to him, his name is Testament by the way. He was fairly difficult, used about 3 continues on him I think, but that was it. I was feeling pretty good, "Hah, is that the best you got?!" Then, the intro came. This big cutscene displaying Justice opened and I was blown away. "Finally, this is the dreaded Justice!" I rushed into battle against her!!...and got ultimately destroyed. I was in such a good mood because of my win against Testament and it happened so fast that I was in denial. I was beginning to think that it was beginner's luck, forgetting the fact that it was a computer....I lost count of how many continues I used, but when I finally paused, I noticed that it was 11:30. I had wasted a good 30 minutes or so on one character! That really got me riled up and I was thinking to myself that she isn't that hard. Despite that, I kept on losing to her and almost ragequit. See, Justice has these full-screen laser blast that if they don't kill you if they hit you, they'll kill you from chip damage. I was still going when I realized that it was 12:20. I kept getting angrier and angrier because I could not beat this girl! I finally saved and went to bed at 1:00 because I couldn't beat her.
After I woke up this morning, and after taking care of my responsibilities, I immediately ran to the computer to see if my game was still up; it was. I started looking up the move list for Sol Badguy because I had felt like there were some moves I was missing and there were. I learned those moves as fast as I could and went into battle against Justice again!!...and beat her the first round!! I lost the second and third, though. So I was getting better and winning rounds against her, but still not the game. I lost count of how many continues I used and how long it took me to beat her, but finally did!! Man was I overjoyed and the beat part was that I beat her with an ultimate move!! Yes, man, today was a great day!!
