CHARACTER:
Antoine Thomas (Also known as just Chef Antoine), is a psychopath boss appearing in the XBOX 360/PS3 video game Dead Rising 2 and it's spin-off Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, encountered by Chuck Greene/Frank West during the scoop "Tastes Like Chicken".
STORY:
Antoine was a regular chef who worked at the food court of the Fortune City casino,in the restaurant Cucina Donnacci, and was waiting for a food critic to go to him, in hopes that he would get a favorable review and become famous. But unfortunately, the outbreak started, during which the critic was likely either killed, or escaped. However, Antoine snapped, and convinced himself that the critic was still coming, and went to work in making a fool-proof food, with the key ingredient of any unfortunate survivors that stumbled upon him.
Chuck Greene gets a call from Stacey Forsythe back at the safe house security room, informing him of a suspicious chef going around the food court. He goes into Cucina Donnacci, and sees Antoine slicing away at something, who turns around and happily greets Chuck, saying he's been expecting him, to Chuck's confusion. Antoine comments that Chuck is "Late", but it's good that he finally arrived. Antoine takes a sip of something from a pot, saying "It's true what they say.. tastes like chicken", while Chuck examines the contents of the many pots. Antoine enthusiastically saying how he's at work on an "Ultimate dish", which is "Very fresh". To facilitate that, he goes over to a hostage he's keeping. Chuck question's Antoine's claim that he and his readers will find it worthy of 4 stars, leading Antoine to realize he isn't who he thought he was, and this, along with Chuck seeming to insult his cooking, leads Antoine to attack him in a rage. After the battle,
Spoiler:
Antoine stumbles along his counter, and his hand and face fall into a vat of boiling grease, making him both drown and burn to death. Afterwards, Chuck can save Cinda Smith, a bartender whom Antoine was holding captive.
ABILITIES:
Antoine is both tough and fast. His main weapon is a frying pan, which he can both club with and throw at Chuck. Along with this, Antoine can throw several kitchen knives and misc. cutlery at him, plus he can pin Chuck to the ground and shove some unknown substance down his throat. As the icing on the cake, Antoine can heal himself in the middle of combat by running around his restaurant and eating his food, which would make Chuck vomit if he were to do such a thing, but oddly seems to have no such harmful effects on the "master" chef himself.
PERSONALITY:
In spite of his insanity, Antoine seems to usually be very polite when it comes to dealing with people that he don't see as potential ingredients. However, when Chuck lets on that he isn't the critic Antoine was waiting for, he instantly loses his calm demeanor and flies into a rage, which isn't helped from Chuck insulting his cooking by asking "Who would want to eat THIS?!". During the fight with him, Antoine also makes several food-like quips, such as telling Chuck "Stay down, bacon!!", and "Order up!!"
APPEARANCES:
Like any psychopath from the series, Antoine has yet to appear in any non Dead Rising game, though he does appears in the spin-off game Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, a version of Dead Rising 2 made to star Frank West, with much the same role. However, Frank is more open to Antoine, outright saying to him "I think you have me confused with someone else."
