Activision has officially announced the release date for the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy: June 30th.

The trilogy includes Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Each of the games in the N. Sane trilogy has "been remastered with new lighting, new cutscenes and cinematics, new animations, 4K support, and support for analog control." Additionally the soundtrack has been remastered, and there's a new save and checkpoint system to boot.

The entire trilogy is going to be priced $40, meaning you'll pay less than $14 for each fully remastered game in the collection. That's quite an amazing deal when you consider that most games go for $60 apiece, and even remasters go for $40-$60, so in comparison this is almost like a buy one get two free deal. Like you needed any more reason to buy it than the fact that it exists, right?

Finally, the trilogy will not only enjoy a digital release, but also a physical as well, which only seems fitting for a classic like Crash.

Not much more is known right now aside from what has been covered in this article and the previous one pertaining to the N. Sane Trilogy, and the screenshots and videos that are floating around out there, but so far it looks and sounds promising. The only questions remaining now are how the remastered soundtrack will hold up, and what exactly is meant by "new" cutscenes and cinematics — whether all new or remastered, or a mix of the two. Regardless, this looks like the most promising remaster of a classic game that we've seen recently, and it looks to be faithful to the original at this point, just prettier and adapted for modern play.


I for one am ready for this one to release, even though I have never played a Crash game...and have no idea what a bandicoot is...

$40 sounds expected ( more specifically $39.99 I'm sure ). Afterall, games like this would go for $14.99 each and a bundled price ( for all three in this case ) would go at a discounted price. Makes sense. No way in hell I would be paying $60 ( unless the Cost of Living were to skyrocket in that time ). That would be some serious inflation, lol.

I mean, it's nice to see Crash's misshapen face back in the mix. It feels like forever since we last saw anything of him.

Kruzer : Games like this? You mean like the PS2PS4 games? If so, I could actually understand these going for a bit more since they're all out remasters from the ground up instead of uprrezed ports (though I love the PS2PS4 games).

As for the release date, I was hoping that the first date I heard was right (February), but it's honestly better for me this way since I have so many games to finish first and I want to get this one on day one. Still super excited about it though.


FinalFantasyDBC : I had a similar reaction when I found out, minus the childhood memories part. I was so excited I posted this within probably forty five minutes of finding out about it, which is honestly why the quality isn't higher — I wanted to post it asap. lol

I'm definitely hoping to get it on day one as well.


A user of this : I actually like Skylanders...mildly. lol What excites me about this even more than it being a blast from the past (even if I only remember Crash from commercials and magazines) is that it's a solid 3D platformer that isn't made by Nintendo. No hate on Nintendo mind you, I just think it's a shame that they're the only ones making 3D platformers these days. I'm hoping between this, Yooka-Laylee, and...some other game I saw the other day but can't remember the name of coming to PS4 we'll see a revival of the genre as a whole.

Eirinn : I hear you there. Nintendo shouldn't be the ONLY 3D platformer maker around. With this game, Super Mario Odyssey, and Yooka Laylee, I am really hoping we see a revival of 3D platformers. I may be a bit too optimistic here, but that would be amazing.

Eirinn : What I mean is any old classic game ( old meaning 10+ years ). Sure, it's fully remastered with better graphics, trophy support, etc. but it's an old series from the PS1 era ( circa 1996-98 ). Plus, most PS1 classics go for $5.99 in the PS Store and they're bare-bones original so I think $14.99 is very reasonable for a remaster.

Now I just want them to announce a Crash team racing remaster with online. I would pay $100 for that, I'm not kidding.


Seriously, though I'm really happy Crash is getting the attention it deserves after they killed it with Crash of the Titans and Mind over mutant.

Spicy : Me and my bro were just talking about that like 2 nights ago. We miss the old crash racing game so much. And I definitely agree. I would pay so much money for that to happen.

Spicy : No kidding, man. I would love to have a remaster of Crash Team Racing or Crash Nitro Kart. Or even a revival of the series altogether. And yes, online would be a must, that and local both.

Makes me really hope that this sells like mad. I'm hoping that if it does, it'll encourage them to make more. But hey, for now I'll be more than happy with just this trilogy.

I agree with Spicy. Crash is sort of an iconic game for me. It was really the first game for Playstation that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I played the hell outta all three of them ( the first one, Cortez Strikes Back, and Warped ). I think I would be right there with him spending $100 for it if I had to...maybe even more than that lol

But $40??? Yeah, totally getting this on June 30th.

MattyIce : Uncle I think the price for the game has gone down....it was 49 pounds before then went to 34....I dunno how much it costs in dollars though. I plan on buying this game for my brother as his birthday present. He'll love it.

I've been seeing this through the demo, and I will admit, I liked how they remastered the introduction for Crash 1.

Crash was part of my childhood, and I have all three games on the PS1 - but I can't wait to see the remastered versions as I've been told it's been preordered for me.
